Starting point is 00:00:00 Show requested, so here it is. As long as you've got da-da-da-da. It's ZDM's Braynclin podcast. I saw this clip today, which I thought was quite funny. I always know someone's a loser, like six months before anyone else does. And it's one of my superpowers, but it's also my kryptonite, because it makes me look like I'm a total hater, because I'm early to it, but I don't have any evidence.
Starting point is 00:00:19 And so when I bring it up to someone and I soft launch that I dislike them, they just don't understand. And everybody eventually figures it out six months later, and they don't come crawling back to you. They just bring it up like it's something they discovered, and they're totally shocked. And meanwhile, you told them many months ago. But you saw it coming.
Starting point is 00:00:34 This is having a good read on people. Yeah. That's what he's talking about. That's his superpower, yeah. Yeah. Like having a good gut feel about what a person's actually like. But I think he's learned you need to keep that stuff to yourself. Because no one wants to hear it.
Starting point is 00:00:49 And no one's going to come back to you and go, oh my God, you were so right about, Bree. Why are you using me as an example? Reminds me of my superpower, which is also a curse, which I've talked to you about. And I can't do it on demand. You can't point to a business and ask me this. But if I pass a business or I enter a business,
Starting point is 00:01:07 I know I get this feeling that comes over me and I don't look for it and it just comes to me when it comes to me. I can tell when that business is going to close down or when they're going to rebrand. Those are the two things I can tell. And you might go, you might go, Clint, is it, we can all do that if a business looks shabby or empty, obviously. No, it's deeper than that.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Your power is nearly as useless as my power, which is guessing movie plot lines, which I mean, I do use my power on this show. So not useless. So not useless. I also have this incredible knack for being able to look at any sour dough. Yep. And I can tell you how good it is just by looking at it. Now, the cynic and me would say, are you looking at the price?
Starting point is 00:01:50 No, I don't, I honestly, hand on heart, I don't need to see the price. If you just place sourdows in front of me Just from the look of them I can tell you which one is the best Claudia sounds like a perfect excuse To put five sourdows on the company card Oh go on then Can we have a slice to taste them as well
Starting point is 00:02:08 Or do you get to have the whole fun Can we all take a sourdough home? No no we're all going to taste them Okay Because we need to know if she was right or not Oh true We'll buy the good butter as well then Get a good butter get a good jar of olive oil
Starting point is 00:02:19 Oh a bit of vinegar Dunga And a little bit of kosher salt Oh this sounds fabulous I'll bring the flaky sea sauce. Yuck. Yeah. Vegan cheese.
Starting point is 00:02:29 On a good salad. Why did you have to come in there and ruin it? Why'd you ruin it? You could have said hummus. We would have been on board with hummus. Could have said honey? Hummus and hot sauce I'll bring. Hot sauce.
Starting point is 00:02:40 Claudia, you've got a superpower? Yeah, and mine's useless to me, but beneficial to others. I'm a notorious avocado hater, but I can pick a good one. Really? Probably every avocado I've ever bought has been perfect. What an awful power for you, the avocado. hated to have. It's really impressive for other people
Starting point is 00:02:57 and they enjoy it, but yeah, I don't benefit at all. My wife cut an avocado yesterday which we both agreed looked like it was perfect and it even felt perfect. And? It wasn't.
Starting point is 00:03:07 It was still hard in the middle and once you've cut them they just don't ripen. They don't. I could have told you that. They stay hard. Do you know how hard it was in this economy
Starting point is 00:03:15 to put an avocado in the bin? Yeah, that's rough. Are you okay? Well, I wanted to just eat it out of spite and get a sore tummy. Do you get a sore tummy when you have bad avo? Well, anything that's not ripe enough can give you a sore tummy. Do you have a superpower?
Starting point is 00:03:31 That's what we want to know this afternoon. Whether it's useful or useless. It's yours. You were born with it. Or maybe you've honed it over a number of years. I have a superpower that has faded, but I reckon I can bring it back. What is it?
Starting point is 00:03:45 I can weigh luggage. Particularly good when we're travelling. A lot of men say that they're good at this. They're saying. Pick up a suitcase and I can tell you, yeah. I'll go, that's 16 kilos. and then we can weigh it and see how close you are. A power I still have in the kitchen
Starting point is 00:04:00 is that I can look at something like leftovers and I can pick the exact container of how much it's going to fit. That's right, that's a good one too. Which is a fantastic power. That's useful. It is useful. We're just discussing our superpowers. And we want to hear your superpowers too.
Starting point is 00:04:18 My superpower being able to tell if a business is going to close down. Bree's superpower, being able to tell if a sourdough is good or bad. Just by looking at it. Just by looking at it. Mine's just by looking at it too. I'm not going through their books or anything. Clint's like, so guys, you're in trouble. Yeah, I've had a look.
Starting point is 00:04:34 The financials are not good. Someone's said Clint's Superbauer is talking over the top of Claudia and Brie when they're trying to talk. You are very good at that. Yeah, that's definitely your power. That text is brutal. Oh. Anything else you want to say?
Starting point is 00:04:56 Are you done? Yeah, can we allow to? Well, if I'm scared to talk because you're going to just butt in. Oh, he's giving you the room. This is incredible. I want to move on so badly. Let's do it. I'm going to hear.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Let's do it. Karen's here. Hi, Karen. Hi, Karen. Hi. What's your superpower, Karen? My superpower is getting babies to sleep. Oh, have you met my friend Bree?
Starting point is 00:05:17 Yeah, do you want to come over to my house, Karen? Absolutely. I would love to have you over. How does 3 a.m. sound. What's the secret? Can you sum it up easily? Depends on the baby.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Just, you know, different techniques for different child children. Oh, my God. Rocking them, rubbing these foreheads. Bum pat? You must have an energy that babies appreciate, Karen. Must do. Yeah. Calming energy.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Okay, that's a very useful superpower. Let's go to Taylor. Hi, Taylor. Hi, Taylor. Hi, Taylor. time listener, first time caller here. Oh, good. Go Taylor.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Go Taylor. Good to have you on. Taylor. What's your superpower? So my weird power is if I've been to a location even once and I see a photo with part of that location and I can identify it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:13 So for example, a friend sent a photo of a drink she had in Thailand and I had been there before and I was able to ask if it was a certain bar because I could see the floor and I recognised it. Holy hell. You're like Google Maps. You're like Google Street View.
Starting point is 00:06:29 I wish it was like a photographic memory for other things, but it doesn't seem to really come in handy. It's very annoying because I feel like I've got a really good memory for things like song lyrics, but I can't remember phone numbers. Yeah, same. Mine's for movies, but nothing else. Lara's here. Hey, Lara.
Starting point is 00:06:46 Hi, Lara. Hello. What's your mum's superpower? Lara. My mum's superpower. You know when you're on the trampoline and you get like, electrocuted. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:56 My mum is always electrocuting people. Really? She's statically charged your mother. Yeah. Oh my God. I wonder what that means in a person. I mean, must mean they have something in their, in their body or their system. Does she wear a lot of polyester, your mother?
Starting point is 00:07:11 No, she is a cotton person. Okay. Okay. Does she, um, I'm trying to think, does she go down a lot of plastic slides at playgrounds? They always used to charge me up going down the plastic slide. No, no. Yeah, wow. No, my mum, no.
Starting point is 00:07:28 You've got the amazing electric mother, Lara. Yeah. Yeah. It says on Google that the body is building up and releasing static electricity. Yeah. But I wonder why. Maybe she needs earthing. Yeah, maybe she's like one of those cars.
Starting point is 00:07:44 You know how those cars used to have a bit of rubber hanging out the back or a drag on the ground? Maybe your mum needs to drag a bit of rubber behind her, Lara. My mum, she is grounding all day, but oh well. Oh, she's obviously thinking about it. She needs a good pair of rubber shoes, maybe. We asked what's your superpower? Someone said I have the power of mind control, but it only works on myself. See, I don't even have that.
Starting point is 00:08:07 That's a great power, though, to have good mind control. Tim said I can measure distance in metres with my strides down to 2% accuracy. I see I need to see that now. I'd love to see Tim in action. He must just be the best. perfect height. He must be the perfect leg link. Yeah, like his stride is like a perfect metre. Because everyone's stride is meant to be approximately a metre. I feel like builders have an incredible knack for measuring things just by eyeballing it. My superpower is addition and multiplication,
Starting point is 00:08:37 super beneficial when doing girl math to justify buying something I don't need. Yeah, that's good. That is good. What about this? I can tell you what helicopter is flying over by just the sound of it. Wow. That's amazing. I've heard of a train spotter. That's like people, what about people like that woman on Clarkson's farm who can tell what bird it was just by hearing it. She was amazing. She was incredible.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Yeah, yeah. If you give me a bunch of paper, I can tell you if that will fit into a small envelope or not. Love that. That's good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Someone said, I can spot a cop car from miles away. People doubt me until it drives past. Yeah, good.
Starting point is 00:09:19 You're like those radar detectors. Yeah. I can play Mary had a little lamb on my head like a bongo. It doesn't come through on the phone though. I tried it with Fletchford and Haley. I had to send them a video and they left me on scene, those morning rascals. Where is that person? We need to bring them into the studio for a performance.
Starting point is 00:09:39 Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll mic you up. I remember as... We should put them in the Zetim acoustic corner. That would be... To perform Mary had a little lamb on their bongo heads. Impressive. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I remember as a kid... I used to hit my head and it would sound hollow. Let's just see if I still have I still got it. I'll push your mic up. Okay, here we go. Wow. Is it pretty hollow? Wow, that was like an empty coconut.
Starting point is 00:10:11 I always said there wasn't much going on up top. Why didn't you say that was just about it? I don't give a shit about the salad, though. I forgot about it until just then. I got to hear what mine sounds like now. Sorry. Yeah, you give it a go. So you just hit it on the top.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Okay. Ow You've got to take your headphones off Oh, okay, here yeah I'm Hello, come in Anything? Someone's in here
