It's Trady versus Ladies. Three, two, one, let's go Last game of the week of Trady versus Lady The Trady's sitting on 76, ladies,
Starting point is 00:02:09 they're not far behind on 73. Our lady is in Hamilton, she is 35, and she does art. Does that make you an artist, Dominique? Yes, I suppose so. What type of art are we talking, watercolor? I paint, but I also do pindoreings and stuff too. Oh, what's your favourite thing to draw? all?
Starting point is 00:02:31 Kiwiana stuff, New Zealand birds and stuff like that. Nice. Nice. All right, you're taking on our Trady from Auckland. He's 41 and he has awesome step-sons. Welcome to the show, Charles. Gettie Charles. How's going?
Starting point is 00:02:46 Good, thank you, mate. Give him a shout out, the boys. What's up, Riley, Ari and Remy. Two of them are actually in the car with me. Hey, boys. Good to have you guys on. Charles, your buzzer is Trady. Dominique, your buzzer is lady.
Starting point is 00:02:58 First two, three correct answers, gets 50 bucks cash from KFC, guys. Good luck. Here we go. Question number one. The NZ Warriors play their first finals match this weekend against the Dolphins. How many NRL grandfinals have the Warriors been a part of? Yes, Charles.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Two. Two. It is two. Unfortunately, they lost both. We move on to question two, one to the Trades. Tomorrow will mark how many years since the 9-11 attacks? Trady. Yes, Charles. 15. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:03:31 Dominique? Yeah, 16. It's actually 25. 25 years. 201 with a 9-11 attacks. We move on. Time moves fast. Yeah, crazy.
Starting point is 00:03:49 We move up to question three. Buzz in when you can tell me who sings this. Dominique. Olivia Dean. It is Olivia Dean. We are won a piece in this. game. Question number five. What does NBA stand for? Trades.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Charles just got in there. National Basketball Association. That is on the money. Well done. We are two to the Trades. One to the ladies. We move on to question six. In which musical film did Arianna Grande star alongside? Yes, Dominique? Wicked. It is wicked. Well done. Well done. We move on to the tie break question. Question number seven. Buzz in when you can tell me what the F in KFC stands for. Charles, so quick on the money.
Starting point is 00:04:42 Fried. Fried. Fride's correct. You won, boys. Well done. Not your boys. Good game, guys. Dominic, you almost got there.
Starting point is 00:04:56 No worry. Unlucky, Dominic. Charles and the boys, can we getting up the was? Up the was. Oh, he's like fancy, boys. The world was on the edge of their seats for a big Spice Girls announcement overnight, weren't they? They posted. Bree's Furious.
Starting point is 00:05:19 I'm so angry. They posted. No one asked them to. They posted. The Spice Girls account. The official Spice Girls Instagram account. None of them individually posted. Did they?
Starting point is 00:05:31 Did we check that? I'm pretty sure they didn't. They didn't. But it was the iconic staircase from the wannabe music video. and it just said, it had a date on it, which was today. It was like something's coming. It worked out to be 1am New Zealand time. And all of us went ballistic thinking a world tour, it's happening,
Starting point is 00:05:49 or something else big is happening. I know people who said an alarm and got up at 1am to see the announcement live. It was a big deal. And the Splice Girls have officially announced a CD singles collection, a new 14 disc disc. box set on CD with coloured vinyl to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their album, Spice. It might be the most lackluster 30th anniversary that Spice Girl fans could have hoped for. Like, are they serious or are they toying with us?
Starting point is 00:06:30 It's more than disappointing. It's infuriating. My wife, Lucy, who's a huge Spice Girls fan. Malaf said... Was she furious? She said, I hope they come with a CD player. Yeah, where are we going to listen to that? My car doesn't even have a CD player anymore.
Starting point is 00:06:46 It's the ultimate build-ups. Because you've got people excited. And when brands or acts do this, they are, there's a term for this in the industry, actually, they're burning social capital. They're burning goodwill. Because they used your longing for Spice Girls News, real Spice Girls News, to get you excited.
Starting point is 00:07:05 And what did they give you? A shit sandwich. Yep. I said yesterday, I was like, if that's what it is. Because Claudia called it. Producer Claudia, she called it. She said she saw it in the URL, didn't you, Claude? Yeah, I big-brained it.
Starting point is 00:07:18 There was an email newsletter and I clicked through and it literally said, like, yeah, boxette singles. They forgot to hide it from the HTTP URL. I'm so angry at them. Some of the top comments on the post. What was the vibe in the comment section? Guys, this could have been an email. Ain't that's true Well, this is not what we want
Starting point is 00:07:40 What we really, really want So Negotiating with my husband About the price cap Of what I could spend On Spice Girls tickets Was for nothing Imagine you've got in a fight with your partner
Starting point is 00:07:57 And you're like Well, you spend all that money Going to the Football World Cup This is my football World Cup I hate you, you never let me do anything and then there's not even a tour. You're like, well, that was all for nothing. And my favourite comment as the Spice Girls make a big deal
Starting point is 00:08:14 out of announcing a 14-disc CD set anniversary of their album Spice, do these women know that we have Spotify? We've got them all. I've still got a lot of my Spice Girls CDs. Yeah, exactly. And I never listen to them because it's in-com. It's convenient. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Exactly. Come on. It's garbage. It's so bad. Anyway, it's either we have to wait or you spice girls fans just have to accept that it's never going to happen. Because if it didn't happen for the 30th anniversary, it ain't ever going to happen. It's probably never going to happen. God, we just need to have another Olympic Games in London.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Yeah. That reunited the girls. They all got back together for that. Or an Olympic Games in Dubai because they'll have enough. money to be able to afford the Spice Girls. Yep. And we all know Victoria Beckham. She loved money. And Dubai. There is, Franklin.
Starting point is 00:09:16 The T. Live from L.A. with Dean McAfee. Dean, what's this? What's this? We hear about Harry Stiles, maybe retiring. Okay, everyone is in a total flap today. Let me just give you all. Everyone calm down. If you're at work, don't quit. I will not calm down, Dean. Don't quit. We already had the awful. Spice Girls are now, it's been, and now this.
Starting point is 00:09:40 So here's what happened. So he's basically done a post saying how he's added extra shows to his global tour in 2027. Two of those shows are going to be at the Hollywood Bowl with Kylie Minogue opening. I am absolutely. He gets it. He just gets it, doesn't he? Amazing. He just gets it.
Starting point is 00:09:59 He just gets it. So he's actually said his post, like, basically, you know, some more tours. I love playing music. I love being with you all. That's why I've added. some dates for next year and basically I don't know what the future holds is what he basically said to kind of paraphrase. He said after that I don't know what comes next to me but I know that I'm excited to find out. Now everyone is reading between the lines they're like does this
Starting point is 00:10:18 mean he's retiring? What does that mean? I genuinely do not believe that he's retiring. I think that he'll be exhausted after the tour as they always are but they get a taste. It's not an easy thing to just leave behind when you're on stage being screamed with millions of fans and all that love. So I don't think he's retiring. I think he just means... Yeah. That's emotional terrorism, that language, though.
Starting point is 00:10:40 I don't know what's next for me makes it sounds like he has a terminal disease. You know? Yeah, I don't know what's next for me, but I'm excited to find out what the next chapter brings. He's very ominous. Also, I saw a post-Dain, because you mentioned that he has Kylie Minogue opening for him.
Starting point is 00:10:55 I saw someone say, this is like Beyonce opening for Somba. It should be the other way around. Pretty icon. show, you get two for one icons. I mean, you've got to be happy with that. It's like when Lady Gaga opened for the Pussy Get Dolls. Everyone still talks about that to this day, don't they?
Starting point is 00:11:15 No disrespect to Harry. We love Harry, obviously. But it's Kylie Freak and Mono. What's some goddamn respect. Who's opening for Bruno when he comes to New Zealand? That's a great question. It's, no, it's Anderson Pack. And Anderson Pack's doing a DJ set,
Starting point is 00:11:31 and then he's coming out and doing, because he's got a DJ persona and then he comes out and does Silk Sonic with Bruno Mars. It's going to be huge. That's the tea with Dean McCarthy. He's our Hollywood correspondent. Z.D.N.S. Brain Clint. Big weekend for you and I, Clint.
Starting point is 00:11:46 We are competing in our second annual charity football match. That's right. On Sunday to raise money for MS. Auckland. And a part of the event is getting sponsors to sponsor you to compete in the match and we've already done a couple.
Starting point is 00:12:05 We've got some amazing sponsors. But there's one more that we couldn't let pass by who wanted to chip in, donate to MS Auckland. And that was you, Lisa. Hi, Bree. How are you? Good, thank you, mate. Look, you text us and you were like,
Starting point is 00:12:23 I'd love to donate. I'd love to get a jingle made for my business, which is called Closed by Porsche. And essentially, you hand... You handmaid, you handmake all the clothes on your website for dogs, right? Yeah, all clothes and bandanas and bows. And I do custom orders. I've done tuxedoes.
Starting point is 00:12:43 I've done ballerina dresses. Dog tuxedos. Amazing. Now, Porsche is the dog, isn't it? Porsche. Yes. So clothes by Porsche, in my mind, Porsche's sitting at a sewing machine making the clothes.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Same, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, she's really talented. Yeah, good. That's a really ambidextrous dog. Yeah. Yeah. It's a fantastic business
Starting point is 00:13:05 It's all handmade right here in New Zealand And we couldn't let you The opportunity pass us by Without making you a jingle as well, Lisa Thank you Are you ready for this? This is a custom jingle for Closed by Porsche I don't know what your stock levels are like yesterday
Starting point is 00:13:20 Next best thing, the pillow people yesterday They had a crazy rush on their website After their jingle played on ZM So we're just checking Are you ready, Lisa? Well, I am, but Porsche's just recovering from cruciate surgery, so I don't know if she'll be after so much. Oh no. You're
Starting point is 00:13:35 going to have to step in for her, Lease. I will. I hope to do some work for a change. Well, without further ado, Lisa, here it is the official Bree and Clint Jingle for Clothes by Porsche. Is your dog tired of walking around the neighbourhood looking, well, naked? Look at that dog's nipples.
Starting point is 00:13:56 Closed by Porsche has you or should I say your dog covered. A wide range of The bandan, sweaters, coats all handmade right here in NZ. But don't just take our word for it. Here's some testimonies from our happy customers. My bum has never been set for. Clothes by Porsche.
Starting point is 00:14:14 Forget about it. They're positively perfect. Clothes by Porsche, give your dog a little flare. They've got sweaters, coats and huddies to cover the dairy air. Close by Porsche, make all the dogies fiss. Now the other pops are dressing them up. Whoa, that dog's got riz. Close by Porsche.com.n.z.
Starting point is 00:14:39 There you go, Lease. What do you reckon? It was bloody brilliant. I love it. Whoa, that dog's got ruse. Hey, Lease, thank you so much for donating. It is such a great cause, MS Auckland. Your business is what it's all about.
Starting point is 00:14:58 You're a local business. You do it all yourself. And we're happy to give you air time on the Bree and Clean Show. You're amazing. Thanks, guys. And good luck for Sunday. You've got to kill it. Yeah, thank you.
Starting point is 00:15:08 If it doesn't kill us. We need all the luck we got. Can you run me through your skincare routine? Sure. What are you putting on your face? So in the shower, I use a cleanser. Okay. And then I use a moisturizer.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Okay. And if it's the more. If I've got some, I use a sunscreen moisturizer. Good. And if it's nighttime, I use a non-synscreen moisturizer. God, that's elaborate. How do you remember all those steps? Hey, at least you've got two steps.
Starting point is 00:15:49 Yeah, it's a two-steper, isn't it? It's better than nothing. Yeah. There's data out today that according to industry researchers, 68% of Gen Z men use regular facial skin care products. Okay, that's good. Which is up from 2022, it was 42% of men. And now it's up to 68%.
Starting point is 00:16:15 So that includes just using moisturiser, right? Just washing your face and putting some moisturiser on. It's interesting. I believe it does. Yeah. But they reckon a lot of Gen Z men have multiple. steps in their skincare routine. Do I have multiple? I do have multiple.
Starting point is 00:16:31 You do. You have two. You've got two. You've got two. If you only washed your face, then you wouldn't, you'd have one. Thank God you put on a moisturiser. Yeah. I'm all for it. I think go for it. If the men want to get into the skin care, why not? Yeah. It makes you feel nice. What am I missing from my skincare routine, Bree? You could add a vitamin C, like to brighten your skin up. Why? What's wrong with my skin? No, nothing. It's great. But like that would... You saying I look dull?
Starting point is 00:17:01 Well, no. Okay. You don't look dull. Moistriser, you already do that, which is good. An eye cream. Okay. Wouldn't go astray? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Which is just not, you know, kind of... It's because the skin under your eyes is very sensitive. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, you don't want to put a normal kind of moisturiser. Okay. You put an eye cream there. You could go some retinal if you want to, you know, deal with those fine lines. Fine. You reckon they're fine?
Starting point is 00:17:28 Yeah. I reckon they're deeply entrenched lines. I reckon you got like fine lines. I think your skin's beautiful. You've got beautiful skin. Thanks, Brie. That'd be a five-step skincare routine. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Nothing too crazy. Yeah. But I mean, I think you're doing, if you had to really bare bones it, I feel like you're doing the correct ones. If there's any men's skin care companies listening right now, can I give you
Starting point is 00:17:50 my million dollar idea? What is the idea? Two and one. Cleanzer Moistreiser. Okay? If you can reduce the steps for the fellas, they're going to do it. If you can find me a cleanser that is also my moisturiser and I only have to do one. You know what you should do?
Starting point is 00:18:06 Boom. And put some vitamin C in there. Here is my hot tip for the men. If you're not moisturising, then you need to get an oil-based cleanser. Because a cleanser draws all of the moisture out of your skin. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When you're washing your skin. Obviously, yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:22 If you get an oil-based cleanser, you're kind of moisturising. Do you know what I've got? A charcoal cleanser. I do. It's black. Okay. It's black. And why did you go for that one?
Starting point is 00:18:38 It just sounded like it would work better. So the power of charcoal. You talk about drawing up impurities. Do you use it on your teeth as well? No, I haven't seen that, though. I could never bring myself to do that. Oh no. But put it on your face, though.
Starting point is 00:18:52 Easy. My recommendation from a New Zealand company, It's called Aleph, get the cleanser because it's an oil basin, you'll feel moisturised. If you only want to do one step. Yeah, right. And my recommendation, the charcoal one? Don't just use regular barbecue charcoal, okay? It has to be a charcoal cleanser.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Sure, I'm glad you clarified that. I'm sure they could get a charcoal moisturiser. I'm sure they would make it for people like you. Yeah. Me too simple. You just need to simplify the process. Just put it all into one bottle. Put it all in one.
Starting point is 00:19:25 And hope for the best. Yeah. Yeah. If we can wash our hair with it too and use it as a body wash, boom. Great. Chuck it in the gym bag. I've come up with it. I know.
Starting point is 00:19:35 I know what we're doing. Yeah. Shampoo. Yeah. Cleanser. Uh-huh. Body wash. Moisturiser.
Starting point is 00:19:42 Yeah. That's what we need. All in one. Deodorant. If you can get the deodorant in there, even better. Tooth paste. Oh, toothpaste. Oh.
Starting point is 00:19:55 Add that in and now we're really cooking. Seven and one. Can you imagine it sells out? Instantly. The men are so dumb though. Like we are so dumb. Do you remember when Lynx put out that body wash
Starting point is 00:20:08 that they said could cure hangovers? Oh yeah. It was called, I saw someone had a bottle of it. They've got like a archive of old Lynx body washers because that's something that a man would have. And he's got it. It's called Lynx anti-hangover.
Starting point is 00:20:22 It's like radioactive green. and I bought it. Is this the one that is like hot? No, it's like... Because that one you should not put on your private. It's very fragrant. I would describe the scent as invigorating. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Now that was the bit that was meant to cure your hangover. Right. You're meant to like experience it in the shower and be like, whew, I'm back. I am awake. I'm awake. I'm ready to go round two. Okay, if we can add that in to our seven in one.
Starting point is 00:20:50 It's an eight and one now, yeah. Hangover. It's a billion dollar idea. Electrolize. Boom. Creatine. Protein. Protein.
Starting point is 00:20:57 Protein. Protein moisturiser. As you're washing your hair and moisturiser. We're going to be so freaking rich. This is unbelievable. The ZDM Podcast Network. I came across some interesting audio that I think we need to implement today on our show. Take a listen.
Starting point is 00:21:16 I dare you to walk up to your boss and ask them to leave work and go drink margaritas. What's the worst that could happen? I mean, I have. to kind of agree with him what is the worst that could happen. The worst is he could say no. They say no and then we all move on with our lives. Unless you have a history of like
Starting point is 00:21:36 being drunk on the job, in which case the worst could be strike three. Yeah, written mourning. Yeah. Okay, well look, in that circumstance, let's not do that. What we have done before the show is we have each at different times decided to call our boss Marty and ask him the simple question
Starting point is 00:22:00 can we leave early because we want to drink margaritas Claudia was first Marty speaking Hey Marty it's Claudia how you going Oh good thank you what's going on I just want to check is it okay if I leave early today Yeah aren't you guys doing Ella's thing
Starting point is 00:22:18 Yeah I just wanted to go drink margaritas Is that okay? Oh yeah sure I guess if Friday's calling What kind of early are we talking? Oh, like, just like a little bit early. Like quarter to seven or? Oh, like maybe like a little bit earlier than that probably.
Starting point is 00:22:32 I just want to drink margaritas, you know? Okay, sure. Should I come in and see you? Oh, yeah, you could have. No, it's fine. Thanks, Marty. All right, good to catch up. See you, bye.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Should I come in and see you? 40 is like, oh, yeah. No, please don't. He was good about it, though. Please, he was all right, yeah. Then Bree decided to call about 45 seconds. later. Marty speaking.
Starting point is 00:22:58 Hi Marty, it's Brie. Oh, good-day, Bree. How are you? Good, Marty. Hey, quick one for you. Don't want to take up too much of your time. Do you mind if I leave early today? Is that with Claudia, maybe?
Starting point is 00:23:11 Oh, is Claudia leaving early? Well, she just kind of talking about margaritas. Is there something going on in that? Great, crazy coincidence. I haven't spoken to Claudia, but I was wanting to leave early because I just want to go drink margaritas. Is that all good with you?
Starting point is 00:23:26 Oh, I guess if I'm allowing Claudia to do it, then it would be unfair not to allow you to do it. You're a legend, mate. I love how you fare across the board. Appreciate that. I'll see you on Monday. Yeah, hey, yeah, okay. See you, Marty, boy. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:40 I backed him into a corner. You can't be dishing out one rule for one staff member and not the other. Then the special last day girl, producer Ella, called Marty. Hello, Marty speaking. Hey, hey, Marty. Do you have a quick second? Yeah, what's going on, Ella? I just would like to leave early today.
Starting point is 00:24:00 I'm sorry to ask. Well, it's your last day, so I guess, yeah, just, yeah, who am I to hold you back? Oh, thank you. I really want margaritas. I know that's quite unprofessional, but they're calling my name. Yeah, I always had my suspicion that you kind of had a secret love for margaritas. So I think Claudia and Brie might be doing a similar thing, so maybe just connect with them and see if, yeah. Are they?
Starting point is 00:24:23 I got to go. Sorry, sorry, I've got to go. Thank you. All right. I know it's unprofessional, but I want marguerwitas. What is that? I can say that word, professional. So you're your baby voice asking for your margawitas.
Starting point is 00:24:36 Can I please have some margwitas? Queen Maddie. I just want to margawita. One person left. Hello, Marty's speaking. Marty, it's Clint. Oh, good-day, mate. How you're done?
Starting point is 00:24:46 Not good. I can't come in. Oh, shit. Well, I kind of need you at work because I've just had quadia. I've had seven margaritas. Oh, bad news, though. I feel like it's better that I'm not there. I know you need me.
Starting point is 00:25:02 I don't think I can do it today. Who's going to do the show? It sounds like a you problem. I'll see on Monday, okay? I'll know. I've let everyone go, damn it. All right, well, I'll get in there and do the show. Another margarita, please.
Starting point is 00:25:17 Not sure if you guys noticed, but re-suggested we do it. We got four yeses, guys. And that is a binding contract. We have the audio to prove it. How early is early? I think we could leave now. Do we go now? We do these somber tickets and then piss off.
Starting point is 00:25:34 That's a great idea. Let's give away some somber tickets. If you are still at your desk, pick up that phone. Pick it up. Make the call to the boss. Let us know how you go. The question is, can I leave early?
Starting point is 00:25:47 And then if they ask why? Because I want to drink margaritas. I want margaritas. Duh. It's simple. It's Z&M's Breed. and Clint podcast. It's also Ella's last day.
Starting point is 00:25:58 Let's play the one second song challenge. Who's all stop the moon? What the hell? Bree and Clint's one second song challenge. Ella, on your last day, would you like to play the one second song challenge? Huh, yeah. Who do you want to play against? Bree or me?
Starting point is 00:26:14 I want to play against Clint. Oh, okay. Yeah, you Clintie. Take him down, Ella. All right. Well, we've got a teammate for you. You'll be playing with Christina. Hi, Christina.
Starting point is 00:26:23 Hi, Christina. Hi, how are you? You originally had Bree. Now you have Ella playing with you to win you the KFC. How do you feel about that? Oh, awesome. Good. I think you should.
Starting point is 00:26:34 I reckon Ella's going to be far better than me, Christina. Try my best. We'll see how we go, eh? And Rosie and I will be working together. Hi, Rosie. Jolda. Claudia, you're in charge? Sure am.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Christina, you're going to be stoked because the theme today is Ella's favorite artist. Shut up. Oh. So the way this game works is I'm going to start a song right from the beginning. I need you to buzz in and tell me the name of that artist and the name of their song. First team to three points takes home the win. Ella's favourite artist. I've already got a couple of them in my mind.
Starting point is 00:27:08 Sure you do. Ella and Clint, you guys are going first. Oh, now you think you're so mysterious, Ella. You have no idea. Ripped me thrown out, Ella. Clint, I wish you luck. Thank you. Clint and Ella, this is for you.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Clint. Brutal. It's Lola Young Missy. That one. Sorry. Just do what I do. Sorry, it was Foresham Haber. And just buzz in before the song even starts.
Starting point is 00:27:36 It's okay. Just let him get one. That's right. Christina, you've got to pull up the team here. That was rude of me. Yeah, that was unnecessary. Sorry. No, I don't want you to be going easy.
Starting point is 00:27:48 No. We don't do petty points around here. That is one point for Team Clint. So Christina and Rose. this is for you. Oh. Christina. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:00 I missed the name of the song, sorry. What was it? Pink space. Yes. Yes. She heard that Christina. Can we call you X, Dina? Because they're dirty.
Starting point is 00:28:16 All right. Back to me and you, Ella. Yeah, ready. Ella. Wait, take a guess. What is it? Burns of a feather, Billy Irish. It literally is amazing
Starting point is 00:28:32 I can't even be mad about that Oh my God What the hell That was a step I was crazy I knew it was going to be in there somewhere But that was unreal Took a stab
Starting point is 00:28:46 Whoa, am I magic? Am I God? Wow You might be Okay that is two points for team Ella So Christina if you get this one You will take home the win So Rosie you got to be hot on your buzzer
Starting point is 00:28:59 Okay Okay here it is Christina. Christina for the win. Watermelon sugar by Harry Stoll. It's not watermelon sugar but it hurts Harry Stiles. Rosie, you can steal it. Can I change it?
Starting point is 00:29:17 No, not until Rosie has a guess. American girls by Harry Stub. No, no. Back to Christina. Christina. Adore you. Yeah. She's done it.
Starting point is 00:29:31 You've been producer Ella. A lovely send-off win. Well done, Christina. You get 15 KMC chicken dollars. Thank you so much. Rosie, we were cooked. As soon as Ella got that one blind, we were cooked. Call back and play next week, Rosie. You need a redemption round, I feel. That was unbelievable. Ella, well done. Go on, Ella, see if you can guess the last one.
Starting point is 00:29:58 Who else do I like? Somber? Did she ruin it? It's not somber. You are? I'll guess her. Last one, blind. Olivia Rodriguez.
Starting point is 00:30:10 Can I have a guess? Sure. Is it, is it, is it, is it, um, oh no, you've already put Billy Elish in there? I was going to say, is it Charlie XEX? These are all great answers. None of these. Who else do I like?
Starting point is 00:30:22 You else, wait, we can figure this out. The other songbub. Oh, this is more of a letdown than when he bought Benny out. A ZM's Brinklin podcast. We need to talk about. that's still a lefty. Too much. This is her, obviously.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Her song, Boston. She has been in the headlines so many times in the past couple of weeks. Constantly, for all the wrong reasons, unfortunately. First, there was a story that went around about her being a Nepo baby because her dad's a billionaire. That's right.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Which doesn't really connect. But I understand what people were saying. People didn't realize. that her dad was the founder of Groupon. Oh, okay. You can become a billionaire from launching Groupon? Apparently. Groupon is like grab one here in New Zealand, doesn't it?
Starting point is 00:31:27 Yeah, it's like coupons for different things that you can go and experience and whatnot. Anyway, the big story that is gaining traction now, though, is that a lot of her songs sound very similar to a lot of other artists' songs. Right, okay. I'm aware of the big one. Yes, which is obviously her song Boston. Sounding like Noah Kahn's stick season. So much so that Noah Kahn's people reached out to her people and was like, hey, this song sounds very similar to Noah Kahn's song and she gave him a writing credit. She did.
Starting point is 00:32:12 She had to, what's the word, retrospectively credit Noah Kahn for the song. People are now noticing other similarities. That can happen, by the way. That can happen. Yeah. But you can be influenced by a song subliminally, subconsciously. I feel like someone at your record label should say something.
Starting point is 00:32:29 Well, here's the thing is that she said, oh, I don't, I didn't, you know, take inspiration from Noah Kahn's stick season, but then had posted very publicly about how, Noah Kahn's stick season was her favorite song ever. Yeah, right. And she covered the song and, like, posted about it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, anyway, kind of shot herself in the foot there.
Starting point is 00:32:50 Let's talk about some of the other similarities. People are now putting two and two together with the Stella Lefty song. So there's this song of hers called Misery. For me, I've never heard that song, but I was like, God, that sounds like something I've heard. Yeah, it's familiar this song. Isn't it? But I've never heard this song. And it might be, for me, for me,
Starting point is 00:33:18 to this song A Million Dreams from the Greatest Showman. Crazy. Oh, wow. It's almost identical. It's almost produced the same way. Let's do Stella Lefji's song again. Okay, that's outrageous. It's bad, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:33:50 That's a real bad one. Okay. Stella Lefty, her other song, 7-Eleven. Smokes in my car, but it's okay because I'll let it. Ring any bells? No. What if I play this? No.
Starting point is 00:34:11 I have a dream about her. She rings my bill. Oh. Yeah. Quite similar. These are all the stilly left. And almost similar in theming, too. Quite, yes.
Starting point is 00:34:25 With the lyrics and the content of the song. Okay. These are all the steli. Lester Lefty songs that people are saying sound like other songs. There's more. Oh, there's more. Stella Lefty's song, Why Wouldn't we? Saying strikes a resemblance to the Blake Shelton song, I'll name the dogs. Yep.
Starting point is 00:35:00 Yeah, that's... Like, I'm not a musical person. But even we can hear it. But even I can hear that. So if you know about music, then... One more. This is the one that is most recently come out. It's the stellar lefty song, Summer You Were Mine.
Starting point is 00:35:24 People are saying, reminds them of the chicks. There's your trouble. This is what people are saying, right, because obviously all of us sitting here can hear. We can hear the similarities in all of those songs. People are now saying, is it because she's using AI? Oh. And AI has to draw on something that already exists.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Exactly. So is that the reason why there is so many similarities in her songs? If that's the case, that's even worse. Yeah. I think. Blatently copying. Yeah, then going, then at least going, well, I just copied the artists I love. I think it's worse to put it into AI.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Someone else texted and said, guys, did you know she's being called Stella Thifty? I did see that. Stella Thifty. She's going to have to say something. Someone's going to have to issue some kind of statement or at least copy a statement that someone else has put out before. I'm sure AI can write one.
Starting point is 00:36:36 No, that's mean, that's mean. That greatest showman one is outrageous. One more time, the greatest showman. So sell empty misery. The greatest showman. I mean, not going to lie, I like quite like both. Play Zatim's Bree and Clint. Ladies and gentlemen, Brean Clint's Friday Oakey.
Starting point is 00:37:15 The low line of your Friday returns. It's Friday Oaky where we cover a song and you pick the winner. Today to celebrate our somber ticket blitz, we're doing somber, and we have a double pass to somber. for grabs if you vote. That's correct. You can either text through 9696 or you can
Starting point is 00:37:32 call through on 0800 dials in but you have to hear them first. You can't vote until you hear them, okay? The song we will be covering is Somba's home record. And what we have learned is Somba's signature sound it's all harmonies.
Starting point is 00:37:53 It's like, I'm not even exaggerating and I reckon there's seven harmonies in this song. It's outrageous. Maybe more. But you better believe we gave it a go. I didn't even know that you could do seven types of harmonies. I'll rock you off for who's going first, okay? Rock paper, scissors, shoot.
Starting point is 00:38:08 Rock paper, scissors, shoot. Rock paper scissors shoot. All right. I'll go first. Then you'll hear breeze. And then if you vote, you could score free somber tickets. Can I go on the record? I reckon you're going to have a Ripper this week.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Oh, okay. I have a feeling. Okay. Yeah. I'll take that confidence. Then I'll run with it. Here's my somber. Our road like a drunk cigarette
Starting point is 00:38:40 The field Oh yeah This man With you there always can be That was you And you did it And you And you sang it
Starting point is 00:39:45 Yeah and it's over That was yours Yeah it's me Someone said home wrecker More like ear wrecker Someone I like The text that just goes Good God
Starting point is 00:39:55 Harmonies did Clint dirty Harmony's hard, man And if that's how your sound I have no hope Why does Clint sound like a child on SingStar? All right, that's mine Mine is out there now This is not going to be good
Starting point is 00:40:14 Now you need to hear Breeze I am so sorry in advance I'm quite excited Especially because mine's done now Yeah, because it'll take the head off of yours Yeah, yeah, yeah You can't vote for sure until you've heard Breeze and here it comes
Starting point is 00:40:29 Like a drunk cigarette The feeling Well done Oh Ella you're finishing up today Are you going to miss this Are you going to miss this each week? It's your favourite part of the week
Starting point is 00:41:46 Isn't it? I'm always going to miss this I'm going to tune in as a listener Holy moly It is crazy how every week it gets worse No I feel like we do have peaks and troughs Yeah you do
Starting point is 00:41:58 This week was a tross I mean free You've got my vote I'll just say that. What? What? That's a win for me. So does it Brie hit like a drunk cigarette soaked in myths?
Starting point is 00:42:15 I like how literally I was not even singing that part. It was like, oh, you hit like a drunk cigarette. Bree sounds like the BGs crossed with a dying flat cat. That is a compliment. Half BGs, I'll take it. We need your votes. 0,800,000. There's be five people brave enough.
Starting point is 00:42:32 to phone through and vote. And if you vote on the text machine as well, that will also put you in the drawer for our free Somba double pass on our Somba ticket Blitz Day. It sure will. Oh, 800 dials at M right now. Brie, someone said,
Starting point is 00:42:45 Bree, that was almost palpable. Someone goes, I vote for Sombree. I'll take that. We're back with a winner, straight after Somba, the way it's meant to sound. ZM with Bre and Clint. Z&M's Brie and Clint podcast.
Starting point is 00:43:01 Five double passes to Somba. that we're giving away today on the Brian Clint show. One of them is going to go to someone who voted in our Somba Friday Oki. Super Friday Oki! And man, it was good. We need to reward people after sitting through that. The song was the reward, okay? The performance was the reward. You people have been treated.
Starting point is 00:43:22 Uh-huh. You don't understand. To a musical smack. I understand how lucky you guys are. We did home wrecker. Mine sounded like this. And yes, those are. all my harmonies in the background. You did them all.
Starting point is 00:43:39 It's not AI. And Bree sounded like this. It's like there's spirits in the background. They're meant to be harmonies, but it sounds like haunting ghosts. Both songs definitely sound haunted. Yeah. So we need five people to help us pick the winner of Friday Oakey and maybe score themselves a double pass
Starting point is 00:44:02 to see Somba Live Spark Arena. Emily has the first vote. Hi, Emily. Hey. Are you a somber fan? Oh, a massive somber fan. Can you know after those? Maybe even more so. Okay, good.
Starting point is 00:44:17 Well, you'll know. You can appreciate how good he is. Yeah, and you'll know, by comparison, you'll know who did the better job, Em. How are you going to vote for? I'm actually voting for Clint because me and my five kids were all having such a laugh listening to it. Holy smokes. You and the five kids get it.
Starting point is 00:44:34 I knew you guys got it. Like, I knew you knew. Yeah, we did know. I know. Your kids get comedy, Emily. They get it. Thanks, M1-0. Let's go to Lisa on our 800 dial ZM. Hi, Lease.
Starting point is 00:44:47 Hey, how are you guys? Good, thanks. What are your thoughts this week, Lease? Look, guys, it was so tough, really, really tough. Tough to listen to? Yeah. Me, my one-year-old was coming along to Bree, so it's just got to go to Bree this week. I will take it, Lease.
Starting point is 00:45:04 Thank you very much. We're tied up. Jordan has vote number three. Hi, Jordan. Hi, Jordan. Hey, guys. What do you reckon, Jordan? Any feedback for us?
Starting point is 00:45:13 I think it was really tough this week, but I'm going to have to go with Clint. I feel like it was potatoes, potatoes. Or both potatoes, to be honest. There was some scary harmonies in there for sure. Big potato energy. Thank you, Jordan. I really appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:45:32 It's 2-1. Is it going to tie up or is it all done? Fran has a vote. Hi, Fran. Hi, yeah. What do you reckon, Fran? Are you going to hand Clint the win? No, I think it's going to go to you. I think both of them had great harmonies,
Starting point is 00:45:46 but I just thought you had just a little something, something in there. Hey, I appreciate you keeping me in it. Great harmonies, you reckon, Fran. Have you had your hearing tested recently? No, maybe I should live in. Do you stick things in your ears, Fran? Thank you. We appreciate you. We're tied up. We're going to a tiebreaker, and Holly has all of the power. Hi, Holly. Hi Holly.
Starting point is 00:46:12 Hello. Now, I'm sorry, Clint, I really do think the producer did you dirty on that one. It sounded like it wasn't you singing. Yeah, it was definitely the producer's fault. So what you were saying, Holly, is you could see through the production and hear the raw talent in my voice, and that's why you're going to vote for me, right? Not quite. The reason I'm going to pick Bree is because I didn't know that the lyrics were drunk cigarette until I heard you sing them.
Starting point is 00:46:38 Is it because I spoke them and I did? It took a thick Queensland accent for you to be able to understand Somba. Just to be clear, you're voting for Brie? I'm voting for Brie. Hey, Holly, thank you very much. And for voting in Friday, Oakey, you have won a double pass to see Somba. Well done. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:47:03 Thank you so much. Spark Arena, in April, you're going to be there. You've got someone in mine to take with you already? Or maybe my son, he really wants to go over there. Oh, yeah, that'd be great. That'd be so cool. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Did he hear our sombers?
Starting point is 00:47:17 He didn't, but I will go and I wonder if I can play them back on. Yeah, you should. Yeah, yeah. Because then he'll really appreciate the real thing. Then he won't want to go. Greenclint. All I want from my birthday. Birthday banger.
Starting point is 00:47:34 Let's go. Birthday banger. Number one songs when you turn 16, you call us. Tell us your birthday. We tell you your birthday banger. Kayla's first. Hi, Kayla. Happy Friday.
Starting point is 00:47:44 Hi, Kayla. Hi. Plans for the weekend, Kayla. I am going to a boot sale with my granny. Why does that sound like a made-up story? It's like you were telling the police a fake story. I was at home with my granny. Definitely I'm not doing anything illegal. All right, don't you, Kayla, what's your day of birth?
Starting point is 00:48:14 The 2nd of June 2002. All right, that means you were. 16, Kayla in 2018. And on that day, this was number one. That's a real one of your reflection, without a follow, without a mission. You're really piping up. Drake, nice for what? What do you reckon, Kayla?
Starting point is 00:48:31 Yeah, I like that song. Yeah. That's when the world was loving a bit of Drake. Yeah, people went to Drake in 2018. Well, yeah. Big time. Okay, wait there. We'll do one for Molly.
Starting point is 00:48:41 Hi, Molly. Hi, Molly. Hi. Hi. Well, you heard correctly, it sure is. What's plans for dinner? Just going down to my parents to throw a wee cheeky takeaway, I think. What kind of takeaway do you think you guys will get?
Starting point is 00:48:58 Probably just Friday sessionships. Oh. Oh, yeah, that sounds good. That sounds nice. Sounds lovely, Molly. Mole, the birthday girl, what year were you born? 2000. All right, that means you was 16, Molly, in the year 2016.
Starting point is 00:49:13 And on your 16th birthday, this was number one. Chain smokers and Halsey closer What do you reckon? You like it? I do. That song was definitely all the range. It was huge. Massive.
Starting point is 00:49:32 Ten years old today, this song. Is that? Yeah. Well, number one 10 years ago today. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wait there. We've got another birthday girl on the phone. Kiyara, Piki.
Starting point is 00:49:44 Hi, Piki. Kiyah. Another 9-11 baby. Yes. There you go. What are you doing for dinner? We're probably doing the same with Molly, doing the take-out, but maybe Indian. Picky, you know what we wanted and you gave it to us.
Starting point is 00:50:10 You're not just doing that because of us, are you? Picky, you were going to. No. Oh, mate. I had no idea. You know, you weren't aware of the birthday carry phenomenon? No. Or phenomenon, as we like to say.
Starting point is 00:50:21 Phenomenon. Brilliant. No, no joke. You've made our day on your birthday, Pickey. Now, let's do your birthday banger. What year were you born? I was 1974. Okay.
Starting point is 00:50:33 Anything from here is a bonus, Picky. But you were 16 in 1990, and we've done our calculations. Here's your birthday banger. Legends. John Bon Jovi. John Jovi. Yeah. Bon John Jovee.
Starting point is 00:50:52 Are you a fan, picky? Well, yeah, I'm usually at R&B, but they're a lot. That one rock. What a throwback from 1990. All right, Picky, the birthday girl. Wait there. We've got to choose between the chain smokers, Drake and Bon Jovi.
Starting point is 00:51:09 Drake. Drake. Drake. Drake. Kayla, you've just won birthday banger. Whoopoo! Tell Nan we said hi. And have a great weekend.
Starting point is 00:51:23 Wink. Wink with Nan. If that is, who you're hanging out with. Yeah. We find out she's actually passed away. She doesn't even have a day in it anymore. Kayla's a huge drug deal this weekend. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:35 So if you see Kayla, you know what she's up to. Watch out. From 2018, here's Drake on Zid M, Brian Clint. Something you ought to cut up to you. ZD.N's Brinclent. As he and a Spiro on Zid M with Brian Clince. I've said everyone off in here. You did!
Starting point is 00:51:52 I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. We didn't even get started. Oh, okay. Okay. I hate this part. I hate it. In this job, from time to time, you lose people who are very important to you. Yeah. Effectively, we've had to do it a couple of times in this job.
Starting point is 00:52:11 And it gets harder every time I feel. One of those people is our producer Ella, who is finishing it with us today on the show. Hi, Ella. Hey. Sorry. Oh, we haven't even started, have we? Ella started with us on this show four years ago. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:28 She came to ZDM as an intern. She was the world's first secret soundkeeper to live on site because it was in the middle of the COVID lockdown and so we had her living in a box outside the studio for the secret sound. And it sucked for you. It was a hard job and you did it. And you just gone from strength to strength from there.
Starting point is 00:52:51 And unfortunately you've got too good and now you've got a better job so you're leaving. Better, I don't, yeah, I'm excited. But it's really hard to leave us. It is time for the next chapter in your life. Oh, shit. Don't go. Let's do the other stuff.
Starting point is 00:53:06 I've written my stuff down or else I'm just going to do it. Ella's got some things she would like to say. Yeah. I think you say what you want to say and then Claudia's got something to play. Why is Claudia sitting out there? Claudia, your weirdo, come and sit in here with the rest of us. God. It's like the family's like all in the living room and Claudia is sitting in the dining room.
Starting point is 00:53:27 Oh, shape. Okay, Ella, the floor is yours, okay? Okay. Well, I've written a little thing. Okay. I'll just read it and try not to cry. So, thank you guys for the last four years for being patient with me as I came in green-eyed, freshly 21 years old. Thank you for not kicking me out when I e-checked you guys on air on the podcast a couple weeks.
Starting point is 00:53:48 It was the first day she gave us feedback. That was really bad at me. It was pretty brutal feedback, too. Oh, we don't need to talk about it. But, no, I really feel like your first job after uni is, like, such a formative time. And so five years at CDM and four years with you guys, it's just been an absolute dream come true. I've learned so much. You've allowed me to, guess, learn and make mistakes.
Starting point is 00:54:10 And I've learned to, like, share my own opinions and to have my own voice and to, like, critically think. You know, we joke, and I'm a little bit dumb. I didn't know magpie was a bird, but anyway. You do now. I do now. And then I just wanted to say as well, Bree, I, I, just love you. I love your humor. I love your creativity, your ability to not only make people feel like to laugh, but to feel so comfortable in themselves and you just have that special
Starting point is 00:54:36 connection with people. And I instantly bonded with you straight away. And that was the biggest quality I saw in you. People see you on TV and on the radio. And then you're just like a genuinely cool person in real life. Thank you, Ella. And I'm so honored to call you that. Me too. Clint, I'm not going to lie when I first started working here, I was a bit scared of you. But it turns out, I think I was
Starting point is 00:55:01 intimidated from that manner you just ooze, you know? You hold yourself so well, you are like, you are so strong and everything you do, from being a parent to a friend to your job, you know, not everyone can do what you do.
Starting point is 00:55:17 You do the buttons, but you're also telling a story, you're also reading text, You're trying to make it funny all at once and in an appropriate amount of time, right? Before it's like songs. Thank you. Yeah, you nail it. And I just love seeing you be a dad.
Starting point is 00:55:30 I don't know, something about it. I love hearing about it. And it just, it is a real joy to come to work and hear that. That's enough. I know you hate those. Yeah, they'll do. Thanks, Ella. And then quickly, Claudia, this is a really hard goodbye.
Starting point is 00:55:41 We've sat next to each other literally for the last four years. Every day. Every day. We've been highs, there's been lows. There's been everything in between. but you've become one of my closest friends. I've learnt so much from you. I'll miss our daily laughs and our chats
Starting point is 00:55:56 and my burping and farting in the room and you yelling at me. But it's genuinely, I feel like really sad, but it's not a goodbye. It's literally I'll see you soon. You know? It's going to be different. But we're literally besties.
Starting point is 00:56:10 It's going to be okay. But yeah, thanks guys. I love everyone here. Claudia has put something together for your last day. And what are we calling this? Ella's greatest hits? Yeah, basically, yeah. The life and times of Ella.
Starting point is 00:56:24 Hi, Ella. Hey Ella. Hey Ella. Hey Ella. Hey Ella. Hey Ella. Hey Ella. Hey Ella.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Who's on you? Your little flea. Goodness, he's up my ass. I'm going to get you. You mother. Oh. Ella. Oh, no, this is going to stunt me.
Starting point is 00:56:43 I love the song. Viva Lidita. Viva Lidita Coldplay. No, no way. No way. No way, no, Viva La Dida. Viva La Vida. No!
Starting point is 00:56:53 You get it here? This is it. Yeah, yeah. Viva La Viva. She is Mr. Fantasy's long-lost daughter. Hello. Oh my gosh, Daddy Fantasy. Me, your long-lost daughter.
Starting point is 00:57:04 If me and you can, like, reunite me. Olive? Yeah. Clint's got two. Oh, my goodness. He's up my ass. Oh my gosh, Soundkeeper Al. Interns, Soundkeeper L.
Starting point is 00:57:17 What's that short for? Internship. No, your name. Ella, did you know that one? I knew people live in Egypt. No, Ryan's uncle lives in Dubai. That's not Egypt. That's nowhere near Egypt.
Starting point is 00:57:28 Ella, are you there? Yeah, I'm there. Hi. You're in the chocolate aisle? It looks to be quite a shock surprise. Instead it's going up and all I can see is a sale on a Widdaker's chocolate. Me and myself and I are a gobsmack. Chubbucka and the producers of both today.
Starting point is 00:57:51 I can actually do a good one. Do you want to hear it? Yeah, go. Do you know what character we're talking about? You're telling me that our mid-20s producer Ella may currently have a bigger brain than me. I would say that's probably right, yes. It's obvious, isn't it? My witch, my Krasn, Kare.
Starting point is 00:58:11 Thank you. You never asked my name. Oh, my God. It's my first swear word ever. Am I going to get fired? Dorail beep it. You and me, Clint, producer Kloor, producer Ella. We're a tight net fan.
Starting point is 00:58:25 We'll miss you. And seen. Good. Thank you. Hand scene. That's so, it sums up. Like, it sums up how close our team is. I've written a little something to send you off, Ella, and if you will just let me read this out for you.
Starting point is 00:58:45 When Ella first started, she was a kid, and somehow over the years, we've had the absolute privilege of watching that kid grow into this incredibly strong, kind, talented woman. and we couldn't be proud of you and the person that you've grown into. You have this real special energy about you. You have the ability to walk into a room and somehow make it feel lighter. You lift people up.
Starting point is 00:59:13 You make people feel seen, heard, valued and loved. And I don't think you will even realize that you do that for people. But you've done that especially for me on more than one occasion. So I'm jealous of the next people that get to. have you in their lives. And I just want to raise a toast. Here's to Ella, to everything that you've achieved here, everything you are, and everything that's still ahead of you.
Starting point is 00:59:36 We love you. That's really special. Thank you, Bree. We love you and we're going to miss you, Ella. Oh, my God. No more tears. No more tears. We go in the pub.
Starting point is 00:59:50 Yeah, more mud. We're ready to. No more tears. Play Z-Eams, Brie and Clint on Insta, Facebook, Tech Talk. And live weekdays from three. on Zidim.
