Starting point is 00:00:00 You tapped it, so we're playing it. It's Zidim's Brean Clint, the podcast. Zidim's Brean Clint, thanks to KFC. Zidim's Brean Clint, there's no raise I'd rather be. Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the Brean Clint Show. Hello, guys. Happy Monday.
Starting point is 00:00:24 A little bit of a sad Monday, though, here. Why? First show without producer Ella. Oh, yeah. God, you've moved on quick, haven't you? No, it's because. I've been at a funeral and I'm wearing funeral clothes and so I thought you were talking about that.
Starting point is 00:00:37 Everybody I keep seeing, so I walk around the office, every single people I see, they go, oh, you're looking nice today. And then I have to go, thanks, I've been at a funeral. And then they go, oh God, oh, I'm so sorry. Yeah, I was in one of those conversations. It was quite awkward. I just went to get a coffee before and the lady goes.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Your funeral clothes though, very nice. Thank you. I've been at a funeral. I was getting coffee and the lady goes, looking suave. and I went thanks, I've been at a funeral. She goes, oh. So sorry.
Starting point is 00:01:09 But yes, it is also sad because Ella's not here. Oh, yeah. It's like a funeral. Now I've been pulled into the vortex. Yeah. Well, she's not dead. She's just dead to us. Lovely black polo you're wearing, though. What material is that?
Starting point is 00:01:24 It's wool. Ooh, fancy. What's cold outside? Marino. Let's get into the show, shall we? Let's just move this. What have we got for the people, Clint? What have we got?
Starting point is 00:01:35 Zidem's World Tour returns. We got two chances for you to get in the draw for Zidim's World Tour this afternoon. We could send you to Morocco. Ooh, that's fancy. Who would they see in Morocco? I don't know. Why? Who are you going to see?
Starting point is 00:01:52 I thought like the World Tour is where they go and see like a act or something. Okay, you'll see Morocco's leading boy band. Morgan and the Moroccans. We've got an activator for you at 5 to 4 and 5 to 5 if you want to get in that draw with Intrepid Travel. We also have a double pass to Empire of the Sun up for grabs. Listen up, millennials. How cool is that? We're going to do that in the 5 o'clock hour.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Yeah, when you hear Walking on a Dream, you can call 100 dollars at M and spoils over double pass. No, don't play it. I want you to do the little rendition. Walking on a Dream. It's like I'm there. Talking to myself. Fantastic. What a great cover.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Will I see it again? It gets better. We are always walking on the thrill of it, the thrill of it. Always pushing up that here, looking for the thrill. You know the song. Yep. We do now. Right.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Let's get into Trady Versaidy vs. Let's go. Yes. $50 up for grabs thanks to KFC. If you want to play, give us a call now. 0800 dial ZM. We'll get you on. Here's Bruno Mars on ZEM.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Look and on a dream. Play Zetem's brilliant cland. It's Trady versus Lady All right, the score update for the year The Trady's on 77, ladies 73 Our lady is in the capital, she's 34 And she has six kids and a grandkid Welcome to the show, Megan.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Hi Megan That is quite the team you have there Who is the biggest asset? Oh, be a little bit of a little. Don't we get those numbers correct. Six kids and a grand kid at age 34? Yeah, you sure did. Man, you were busy, Megan.
Starting point is 00:03:40 You are busy. I'm busy woman. I am with all those kids. Are you prepared to be a great, great-grandmother one day, Megan? Because you are going at lightning pace. Yes, well, yes, but not for a wee while. Hopefully. You're taking on our trady from Auckland.
Starting point is 00:03:55 They are 44 and her son is a builder who talked her into calling. Do I have that correct? No, I think her son bullied her into calling up for this game. Kelly, welcome to the show. Hi, Kelly. Hi. Sorry, I'd need my glasses on, Kelly, but I do now. What's your son's name, Kel?
Starting point is 00:04:13 Alex. Alex. Alex. Thanks you, Alex for bullying your mum. Yeah, thanks for bullying your mom, Alex. Let's go with names, actually. Kelly and Megan, those are your buzzers. First of three correct answers gets the $50 cash money thanks to KFC.
Starting point is 00:04:26 Good luck. Here we go. Question number one. Thank you next and break free. are hits from which pop star? Megan. Yes, Megan. Arianda Grande.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Arianda Grande is correct. Well done. We move on to question two. The Newcastle Knights are a team in what competition? Kelly, Megan. Yes, Kelly. NRL. It is the NRL and the Warriors will be taking on the Knights this Sunday.
Starting point is 00:04:53 We move on. We're won a piece in this game. Question number three. Buzz in when you can tell me who sings this song. Megan. Megan's in? Is it Nickelback? It is.
Starting point is 00:05:08 It is nickel back. On the money there, Megan. Two to the ladies, one to the tradies. Question number four. Which island hosts the annual Rhythm and Alps Festival, North or South? Megan. Megan, for the win.
Starting point is 00:05:24 North? Oh, no. Oh, no. It is the South. Yeah. It's down in Wanica. We move on to question five. Name one actor from the 2004 hit film Mean Girls.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Kelly. Kelly. Lindsay Lohan is correct. We're all tied up here in the sixth. This is for the win. Gorgonzola, Rockford. Kelly? Yes, Kelly.
Starting point is 00:05:55 She's got it. What? What? She got bullied into calling, and now she got bullied into calling, and now she takes the win. And they come from behind position as well. Kelly, well done. You're a tradie first lady champion.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Thank you. Felt torn beating the ladies, actually. Yeah, right. Yeah. It was a great game, though, from all sides, wasn't it? But yes, you're a traitor. You are a traitor, Kelly. Megan, you are so close to getting that one.
Starting point is 00:06:25 So close. So close. So close. All right, tradies get a 78 in favour of the ladies 73. That's our scores for the year. ZDM's Brie and Clint Podcast. I feel like we should make this a weekly segment after the stories I have been seeing of horror in-law stories. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:06:46 It's a trend now online where people are taking text conversation with their horror in-law or in-laws. Okay. And they're turning them, they're getting AI to turn them into songs. All right. It's quite funny. The story, however, is not. I've got one for you this afternoon. Right.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Here it is. I am picking up the baby tomorrow. My baby, yes. Mark and Linda are begging to meet her. I'm taking her to the country club. You are not taking my month's old child to meet people I do not know. She's my baby too. No, she is not.
Starting point is 00:07:22 She is your grandchild. You don't make decisions for her or make plans for her to meet random people. You are awful. You know that. She's my baby, too. That's very funny. So a month old baby, the mother-in-law wants to take her to meet a couple of her friends that they've never met. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:44 To meet them at the country club. Yeah. And the mum says, you're not doing that. No, you're not. Absolutely not. And then the mother-in-law says, well, you're awful. No, the best line is, it's my baby too. It's my baby.
Starting point is 00:07:57 And she's like, no, it's not. It's your grandchild. It's your baby. Yeah, that's a lot. That's a lot. The mother-in-law, the in-law dynamic, J-S.S. Freudian, isn't it? Can be tricky to navigate, can't it?
Starting point is 00:08:15 Not in my situation. I'm very privileged to have wonderful in-laws. Which is great. Who I love and respect, and I feel have the same for me. Yeah. But not always the case. Not always the case. And I would love to ask you the people this afternoon,
Starting point is 00:08:31 has this happened to you? Maybe it's from a past relationship. Maybe it's in your current relationship. Yeah. Do you have a horror in-law story that you can share with us? And look, we understand that this is a tense situation. Yeah. So we can keep you anonymous.
Starting point is 00:08:46 You can remain anonymous. And we can keep them anonymous as well. Unless you want to out them on the radio. Which I don't know if we want to be a part of that beef. Yeah. You don't want to go open that canna worms. We can give them fake names. Yeah, true.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Like Cheryl. Yeah. That's believable. Probably their real name, isn't it? Probably 50% of the names. Yeah, probably. 0,800 dials at Em or you can text us on 9-6-96. Do you have a horror-in-law's story for us?
Starting point is 00:09:13 Dead is Franklin. We're asking for your horror-in-law's stories this afternoon. After I came across a TikTok where a mother-in-law said that she wanted to take her grandchild out to meet random people when she was a month old. No, no, no, no. Don't tell the story. Let the song recreate it for you. I am picking up the baby tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:09:36 My baby, yes. Mark and Linda are begging to meet her. I'm taking her to the country club. You are not taking my month's old child to meet people. I do not know. She's my baby too. No, she is not. She is your grandchild.
Starting point is 00:09:52 You don't make decisions for her. Or make plans for her to meet random people. You are awful. You know that. People say AI is evil. That's a bagger. It's quite a good use of AI. That is a banger.
Starting point is 00:10:05 I'd listen to that. Stella theftie would be all over that. That's her next single, actually. Yeah, she would cover that well. So we want to know your in-law horror stories. This person wants to be anonymous. Hi, Anonymous. Hi, Anonymous.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Hello. Hello. Good, thank you. Tell us you have some horror in-laws. Yeah, no, not anymore. But at the time, yes, we didn't think much of them after that. What did they do? So, basically, we were on the phone.
Starting point is 00:10:29 and I was just, my father-in-law was messaging me and asking me to drop some vegetable off. And I quickly said, oh, yeah, do that, please. Thank you so much. And then they didn't realize that they didn't put the phone down. And the audio message on WhatsApp went off. And basically they started talking about us saying that we don't do much for them and we don't show our appreciation. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:10:57 So they were having a good old bitch behind you. you back and then it sent it to you on WhatsApp. Oh, that is my worst nightmare. And I always do this when, if I'm talking about someone, I check to see that my phone is not, I haven't accidentally rang them. And every time I do, I'm like, no, you're being paranoid. You're telling me anonymous it can actually happen.
Starting point is 00:11:17 It can actually happen. I want people not to do that. Please don't do that. Oh, my God. I wasn't so malicious in the end. They did apologize to me. And we made it right in the end. And now we just talked about it.
Starting point is 00:11:27 Yeah, only because they got busted. They only apologize. because they got busted anonymous. Wow. Wow. Horror in-law stories. Someone said my mother-in-law wore white to our wedding.
Starting point is 00:11:38 There is a long list of things that she has done. We keep our distance. Yeah, that's pretty bad. It says it all, really. Someone else said, my mother-in-law used to ring and talk about her indoor gardening life
Starting point is 00:11:52 with my father-in-law. I put a stop to those calls pretty quickly. Oh, she thought you were besties. I don't want to hear about that. She's like, girl. Let me tell you what we did last night. With your husband's dad. Dad.
Starting point is 00:12:06 When my baby was a reasonably newborn, I was in the bath and my mother-in-law just rocked on in to have a chat with me. No, don't need that. Oh, she obviously feels comfortable with you. Don't need that. Someone said, my first mother-in-law caused two arguments with me and one with my mum at my wedding to her son. She left bruises on my arm when I tried to walk away from her.
Starting point is 00:12:29 and told my kids I was a terrible terrible mother because I didn't bake every week. Oh my God. The projection, eh? These are horror in-law stories that you guys have texted in. Someone said, Anonymous, please.
Starting point is 00:12:42 This was a long time ago. My in-laws offered to babysit. And when we got home, our three, five and six-year-old were locked in the house by themselves. They had put them to bed and gone to their own house next door. That one's quite...
Starting point is 00:12:57 Serious. I was ropeable and words were said and it never happened again. Yeah. As in they never were allowed to babysit again? Because I feel like that's warranted. I hope they would back down and go, okay. We messed up here. Our bad.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Yeah. That's crazy lack of... A three, five and a six-year-old and you thought it was okay to leave them in the house by themselves. Oh, there's some dark ones here that we can't read out. Can I say, Rochelle, yours is too dark to read out. But if there was a prize, you would win it. Yeah, that one. It's dark.
Starting point is 00:13:30 What about this? It says, Anonymous, please. My mother-in-law, at my wedding, told my best friend, I don't know why he's marrying her. He's the diamond in the rough, though, in that family. I haven't seen the in-laws in four years. He visits by himself each Christmas. We've been together 23 years, married nearly 16.
Starting point is 00:13:49 He visits by himself. The gall of the mother-in-law to go to her best friend and say that is wild. That is crazy. My ex-ist mum told me it was my fault that her son cheated on me. Wow. What about this one? After having my daughter, my mother-in-law came around to meet her. I was having a sleep on the sofa and my husband was prepping breast milk and cleaning the breast pump.
Starting point is 00:14:19 And she said you need to wake that lazy bee up because that wasn't his job. Off! Oh! Oh! Wow! Wow! Obviously he didn't take after his mum. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Wow. Good stories, guys. Some of these are just... Some of them cannot be read out. What about this one? It says, my mother-in-law sat all the daughter-in-laws down to her son, so all the daughter-in-laws, and said, I hope you are looking after my boys in the bedroom. I got up and walked out.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Oh, my God. I'd love to know the thought process in her mind. She's like, okay, today's the day. How many, how many of you? Like, how many daughter-in-laws did she have? That's insane. ZD.N's brain clint. I feel like the mood around, or our opinion on voice notes has changed substantially
Starting point is 00:15:14 in like, even the last two years. I remember you and I having a conversation a little while ago going, oh my God, people who send voice notes are so annoying. Now, man, I bloody love sending a voice note. It's so much easier than writing out a whole text, message. It is. I feel like it's great for the person sending it. Still a bit annoying for the person receiving it, especially if you're doing like a minute long voice note. You know what I like about a minute long voice note or longer is for friends who live overseas and you don't have, you're on the same time zone. Yeah. And often, well, not often, but when you get around to it, I'll send them a big long voice note about everything that's happening in my life. And then when they get around to it, they'll send one back, you know? And then, because you can't line up the phone calls different time zones and stuff. Yeah, it's a bit hard. Anyway, this is a fun hack to do with voice notes that we can use. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Did you know that you can change the voice? What? On a voice note? No? This is cool. Okay, so this is an Instagram DM. Can you pick like a famous person's voice? Well, let's see.
Starting point is 00:16:12 I'm going to send you a voice note, Bree. Okay. Okay, so it's a normal voice note. Hi, Bree. Just checking in to say that your bulk pack of emotium has arrived. Oh, good. 48 tablets. When you're ready, just pop it.
Starting point is 00:16:28 in store and collect those. Thank you. I'm so glad they've arrived, but I've been desperate for them. So now, how do we want this to sound? That can come through as a pirate. Hi, Bree. Just checking in to say that your bulk pack of emotium
Starting point is 00:16:46 has arrived 48 tablets. Not particularly piraty. Why does it kind of sound like Vaughn? Is Vaughan a pirate? Is he? Should we try Grandpa? Hang on this. This is the same voice as Grandpa.
Starting point is 00:17:01 Hi, Brie, just checking in to say that your bulk pack of emotium has arrived 48 tablets. That's creepy. Isn't that good? That's so creepy. That can come through as a princess. Hi, Bree. Just checking in to say that your bulk pack of emotium has arrived 48 tablets. Not very princessy.
Starting point is 00:17:26 I'd say more receptionisty, that one. Yeah, that's not very Disney princess, is it? Oh, and then we can go T-Pain, auto-tune mode as well. What does that sound like? Hi, Bree. Just checking in to say that your bulk pack of emotium has arrived. 48 tablets. That's it.
Starting point is 00:17:46 That's a hit. Just pop up in store and collect those. Thank you. That's a bag-up. So all you've got to do is record the voice note and Instagram, and then there's a little star thing that you can push, And you can choose. There's all kinds of different things in there.
Starting point is 00:17:59 I like it. It scares me though. Why? Because I feel like someone can use that for evil. Really? You know, disguise their voice. And imagine the scammers. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:18:10 They'll have a field day with that and you'll think it's like your innocent, like an innocent grandpa. True. Poor Bree will think she's met a wealthy grandpa. Yeah. Who wants to take her on a date and buy her nice things. Which, I mean, that's my dream. There's actually some Nigerian bloke.
Starting point is 00:18:24 It is my dream to be a sugar baby. Yeah. And the next minute, it's just you on the other end. Well, if you get a DM. Trying to steal my money again. If you get a DM from T-Pain, just look for the blue tech, okay? Look for the blue tech before you do anything. Damn's Bree and Clint podcast.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Time for the tea. This is the tea. This was the news no one was expecting, but Lady Gaga has welcomed her first baby into the world. I don't know Lady Gaga was having a baby. No. Neither did anyone. No one knew. She has been spotted with her fiancé, Michael Polanski, in California,
Starting point is 00:19:06 with a baby in a baby carrier on her chest. And people are like Lady Gaga had a baby. Wait, a normal baby carrier or like a Lady Gaga, leather studded baby carrier. A normal baby carrier. Nah, that's not cool, Lady Gaga. She has laid pretty low since wrapping her Mayhem Ball tour back in April and hasn't really been seen in the public,
Starting point is 00:19:28 apart from, I think a fan ran into her and took a photo, but the photo was very cropped. But no details yet on birth date of baby, gender, name. We got none of that. We just have the photos of her with the baby. So anyone made the joke about it being a little monster yet? Yeah, no, that's happened. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:51 Anyone made a joke about her being mother monster? Yep, yep. No, that's been done. What about she, what did they say? She is mother? Yep. Yeah, that's been done. Yep.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Yeah, right, okay. Also, jokes about the baby being born this way. Oh, it's born this way? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which way? We don't know. Born which way? We don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Yeah, yeah. None of those details. Hopefully not breach. I'm so excited that I have a baby the same age as Lady Gaga. Yeah. There's a lot of similarities between her and I. Italian? Yep.
Starting point is 00:20:24 Stephanie. We both have that name in our name. Oh yeah, you do too. And she's also getting married next year, same. Yeah. Yep. Yep. What else?
Starting point is 00:20:34 Can we get a fourth? Love's a gay bar. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. Yeah, that's about it. Okay, cool. Anyway, I'm very excited for her and her fiancé.
Starting point is 00:20:48 This was some audio I remembered from an interview she did with Stephen Colbert. last year. You've continued to act. Is that something you want to continue to pursue? Would you like to do Broadway? I would like to do many things. Yeah, I mean, all of these things are open. But what I really want is to be a mom.
Starting point is 00:21:08 That's my next starring role, I hope. I love her so much. It's not called a whisper in interviews, if I was interviewing someone and they were like, that's a really good question, Clint. Do you reckon she was whispering? What? What?
Starting point is 00:21:23 Listen. You've continued to act. Is that something you want to continue to pursue? Would you like to do Broadway? I would like to do many things. Yeah, I mean, all of these things are open. Maybe. What I really want is to be a mom.
Starting point is 00:21:36 That's my next starring role, I hope. Maybe she was conserving her voice. Yeah. Oh, way to bring down the mood on Lady Gaga's baby youths. Geez. We didn't give me... Clint and I are both very happy for Lady Gaga. We are. We send our regards.
Starting point is 00:21:53 We're sending a... Name? What do you reckon the name's going to be? Gavin. Something really normal. Imagine. Yeah, yeah. Imagine it's just like a run of the mill. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Yeah. Kelly. James. James Gaga. That's the T. The ZDM Podcast Network. Election time, in it. All those ugly billboards are going up around the country.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Visual pollution, if you ask me. Bit of an eyesore in each suburb, aren't they? But necessary, I guess, to get the message out there. Some of them do it better than others. Have you ever, have you ever driven past and went, oh, that billboard has just gotten my vote? No, in fact, I think the risk is the opposite. Like, you're more likely to go, that's a bad billboard.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Not going to vote for you. If I had to say what the worst ones are this year, I think the Labor Party using pink in their billboard is confusing. I think Chloe Swarbrick on the Greens Party billboards kind of, she kind of dressed like a, like she's just landed as an early settler in the country and maybe she's like a missionary settling one of the villages and the National Party billboard
Starting point is 00:22:59 they just look like the stiffest people on the planet. I feel like they all look the same though. They've been really, the way they've been clear cut in Photoshop on the National Party ones. You know what really would have got people talking for the National one? They should have
Starting point is 00:23:16 AI'd hair onto Christopher Luxem. You know? Like do something different. Luxon, the way they've clear cut them, Luxon's particularly thumby. Very thumby. There's a MP by the name of Ryan Hamilton in the news today. And, you know, look, this publicity, he's getting, he's getting their time out of this.
Starting point is 00:23:36 He is running in the upcoming general election. And most, like most politicians and aspiring politicians, he has had his billboards vandalised Brey. Oh, no. Oh, no. Now, they're very, the... What have they gone with? Have they gone with the blacked out tooth or the mustache or the devil? horns what they're gone for?
Starting point is 00:23:55 No, they've gone with a four-letter word on Ryan's billboard. I can guess what that word is. Don't take it from me. Take it from a video that Ryan Hamilton has posted on his Facebook page today. See you next Tuesday. Real funny. Just beside a sign that's been tagged.
Starting point is 00:24:13 Someone probably comes around in the middle of night in the shadow of darkness coward with a hoodie on and the spray paint can. Why don't you give me a call or an email and we'll talk about it instead of being a coward's. Because I've got plenty more signs. I'm not going to be inseminated by it. So I'm going to keep coming.
Starting point is 00:24:30 We're determined to fix the basics and build the future. That's the first time I've heard a politician sound like he wants to fight someone. Holy smokes. He sounds like that was a one-outs. I think Ryan might be a bit but-heard over it. Coward? You coward? How dare you?
Starting point is 00:24:49 You coward? How about you come and say it to my face? did you not realize that putting up a billboard meant it was going to get tagged? That is literally what happened. I don't think he did. With that, by the sound of that video, I think he's very hurt by it.
Starting point is 00:25:06 I like the idea of, won't you sound to my face? Yeah, go on. Or send me an email. I bet you're a coward though, so you wouldn't do that. In the darkness of the night, you come out here with your sprake heads.
Starting point is 00:25:19 One of the great clips. We shouldn't mar. Oh, no, we should. Hey, we've had billboards of us deface. We have. Most, very creative and funny. And you know what stands out more than a billboard? A defaced one.
Starting point is 00:25:32 A defaced billboard. Yeah. I mean, we wouldn't be talking about him unless this was happening. The best part of this whole thing, though, is that Ryan Hamilton is the MP for Hamilton East. How good. So, once again, we are asking you, New Zealand, does your name match your job? So good. Ryan Hamilton from Hamilton?
Starting point is 00:25:51 I mean, it's perfect. Ryan Hamilton, the MP for Hamilton. What would make it even more perfect is if he was starring in like a small community. Production. Production of Hamilton. Of Hamilton. Yeah, that would make it even more crem d'a crim. Ryan Hamilton in Hamilton from Hamilton, MP for Hamilton.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Yeah. That would be fantastic. Some examples, some thought starters for five. These are real people, by the way. There is quite a well-known expert gardener and author of several gardening books here in New Zealand. His name, Jonathan Spade. Love it.
Starting point is 00:26:27 It's the perfect job for him. It is. There's a woodwork teacher at Tainui Intermediate. Oh, it used to be in Tokoroa. His name, Mr. Forrest, the woodwork teacher. So good. Bonus. He also had a wooden leg.
Starting point is 00:26:44 No. Did he really? That's a real story. And I wonder if he made it himself. Oh! He could have. Yeah. And each year the task for the year 11s was make me a new leg.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Yep. Who can make me the best leg? The best leg gets worn by me for the next 12 months. I'll never forget. And I mean, he's still around. He's still with us. But one of my dad's friends from back in the day was a firefighter. Yep.
Starting point is 00:27:11 First name Gary. Second name hose. No. Gary Hose. You know, there's a name for this. What is it? It's something like normative determinism where you are exponentially more likely to do the job that your name suggests.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Like subconsciously. Yeah, yeah. Like if your last name is Baker, you've got a way higher chance of growing up to be a baker. Yeah. Yeah. Like if your last name is... No.
Starting point is 00:27:40 I feel bad for the strippers of the world. Yeah, yeah. Not that there's anything wrong with that. profession. Yeah. But, you know, you're destined. What other job? Drug dealer.
Starting point is 00:27:54 Yeah, that's quite a common Scottish name. Is that? Yeah. Drug dealer. I think this is how it's pronounced. It's ZAM's Breeneclint podcast. Ryan Hamilton from Hamilton is upset because his billboards have been defaced. He's an MP.
Starting point is 00:28:09 He's called them out. He's called them cowards. And to come and say it to his face. Or write a. in an email. So we asked, does your name match your job? Just on the billboard thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:22 I said before that we have billboards. Yep. And we're used to them getting defaced as well. Someone said, I feel every time I see your guy's billboards, that show looks average. I won't be listening. Well, what are you doing here now? And you're listening? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Are you saying our show is better than our billboards? Someone who's seen Ryan Hamilton's billboard said, the funny thing is that billboard is right. outside the university and it gets tagged every lunchtime. So in broad daylight. So that's why he's so upset. Because he was saying that the cowards must go in the darkness of night. In a hoodie. Yeah. Yeah. And no,
Starting point is 00:28:58 turns out. I reckon it's the wrong place for a billboard then. I think they're trying to tell you something. We asked as your name, Max, your job. Someone said my name is Harmer and my family are farmers. Love that. The Harmer Farmers. What are they farming? Harmers. My name is Max Ler.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Law, I'm a cop in Arrowtown. Oh, Max Law. You should be either a cop or a lawyer. Yeah, you could be either all. Max Law, Attorney at Law, you'd hire. Max Law is such a great name. It is, isn't it? It's a famous person's name.
Starting point is 00:29:31 What about this? I work at a sawmill, and my boss's name is Nick Wood. That's good. World Champion, New Zealand Arborist with the name Scott Forrest. That's good. Yeah. When they say World Champion. It should be Scott D.
Starting point is 00:29:46 Like New Zealand arborist? Yeah. What are they doing? Is that like wood chopping? Yeah, I imagine it's those guys who go up and, what, do you race to take down a tree? Yeah, like, do you climb the tree and chop it up the top? Like, I don't, what is the world champion arborist? The fastest arborist, I guess.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Yeah. My name is Cure. My parents were quite disappointed that I became a bus stripper and not a doctor. Clint asked me, what's a bus stripper? And he was picturing like a pole on like a public transport. Bus. Not public. No.
Starting point is 00:30:18 Like a party bus. And I said, I'm pretty sure it's the people that strip the ads off the back of the buses and the sides of the buses and stuff. Bree told me about a party bus. She went on and they got an 18-year-old male stripper on the bus. That was this year. You used the words buzzkill. I said to him when he got on the bus, I said, are you of age? Like, I thought he was underage and I felt real awkward about it.
Starting point is 00:30:46 He goes, no, I'm 18. And I was like, oh, that makes it better. Can you grow any facial hair? He didn't have one hair on his body. Yeah, I just don't want to. Other than his eyebrows and eyelashes. Does your name Matthew, match your job? Someone said, the ultimate version of this is Usain Bolt being the fastest man alive and his
Starting point is 00:31:02 surname being Bolt. It was the perfect name. That's his real and last name, isn't it? Yeah, I believe so. I believe so, yeah. Is it, Claudia, can you check? Can you check if you, it's his real last name? Someone said, surely the harmers that are farmers, farm, farm,
Starting point is 00:31:16 Lamas. Oh, the hamas that are farmers of llamas. The harma-lama farmers. Yeah. Hi guys, my maiden name used to be Emma Wood, and I'm a gardener, and my brother is a builder. That's good. Yeah, it's good. Someone said, my boss's last name is Shearer, and she is our manager for PGG Wool.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Shear. Yeah. Good Sheela, Shearer. Yeah. Yeah. My good friend's name is Zach. fell and he owns a company called tree tops arborists. I know Zach fell.
Starting point is 00:31:52 He came to do our tree at our house. God, that's not a good name for a... Zach fell. No, it's the perfect name for an arborist. That's what an arborist does. I was thinking that he, like, fell from the tree. No, that's Zach fall. Yeah, fell.
Starting point is 00:32:05 Gotcha. He fell's a tree. Zach fall. Yeah. Terrible name for an arborist. Someone said, I worked with a guy called Ben Gardner. He was a mechanic. No, I'm just kidding.
Starting point is 00:32:15 It says he's a gardener. If you guys like the harma farmers, you'll love the Rama Rama Rama. Who's that? Wait, there's a llama farmer and ramarama. Who the hell? Called the Ramahama llama farmer. That's good stuff. My uncle is a mechanic and his surname is Ford.
Starting point is 00:32:32 Yep. Love it. I've been a teacher for a long time. The best name ever was Helen Beard. What? Helen Baird. Helen Baird. I don't get that one.
Starting point is 00:32:42 What about this? I'm an amenity horticulturist. horticulturalist and my horticultural manager's last name was flower. Yeah. That's spot on. They could have been a few things. Flower.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Yeah. Yeah. My last name was McDonald's. When I was looking for a job as a teenager, I made it my mission not to apply at McDonald's. Oh, come on. Why not? I reckon you go to the front of the queue.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Nah, best thing ever, go get a job at KFC. The Rama Rama Lama Farmer. That's a radio jingle if I'd ever heard one. It's ZM's Breinclin podcast. We're looking for a small-town big deal. Breanclin's small-town big deal. I know one, I know one. Who?
Starting point is 00:33:32 Me. Well, yeah, actually, odds on, it is you. This is where we take turn calling each other's hometown to see if anyone there remembers of us. Neither of us have lived in our hometowns for many years. Many years. Many years. That doesn't mean that they don't remember us, right?
Starting point is 00:33:49 But we're loyal to the soil. But are they loyal to us, you know? I like that tagline. Loyal to the soil. Ten toes down. It's your turn. So we're going to call country Queensland. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:59 There's an issue because we've been doing this game for quite a while now. Yes. We may have run out of businesses in Stanthorpe. We may have called every local business in that town. So today we're taking a short drive to Toowoomba, okay? Neighboring town, or as you like to call it, the beach. smoke. Yep.
Starting point is 00:34:17 And we'll see if anyone in Toowoomba has heard of you instead. Oh, I don't like my odds. We are calling the Irish Hotel. Okay. Asking if they've heard of Brianna. I love the Irish. Thomasel. You got the Irish.
Starting point is 00:34:31 This is Adam. Gidey, Adam. How you going? Good, buddy. What can I do for you, me? Just a real quick question for you. I just need to know. Have you guys in at the Irish?
Starting point is 00:34:39 Have you heard of a lady called Brianna Tomicel? No. No? Do the mum and daughter bit? know, they're from Stanthorpe. You know Stanthorpe? Yep. She's sobering Stanthorpe.
Starting point is 00:34:53 She's Diane Tomicell's daughter. Yep. No, I'm not familiar, sorry. Not familiar? She's, I just got a catch sign. Oh, Brianna. You've ever seen those videos before? I've no idea what you're talking about.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Sorry. No, no, clearly. That's okay. Brie Thomasel. Last chance, Breed Tomicel. You don't know that one? Come on, Adzi. You haven't got a VP.
Starting point is 00:35:19 in, you haven't been streaming celebrity treasure island, New Zealand. Sorry, but, so what's going to, hang, I'm just going to save a customer. I'll wait in a moment. No, so I'll let you go. You have a good one. Heru, all right, see ya. That one's done. He was confused and mad.
Starting point is 00:35:35 Yeah, he was like, what the hell are you guys wasting my time with now? And you know what, people in Irish bars, normally got a lot of time for you. Not today. That's how annoying that was. Not today. That's my third loss in a row. To be fair, we weren't in your town. But you really took a swing for the fences there.
Starting point is 00:35:52 Well, I need a spreadsheet of businesses that remain. Mate, we haven't called the post office in Stathorpe yet. You reckon they know you at the post office? I'm positive they know me at the post office. All right. Yeah. When it's my turn next, can we call the Stanthor Post Office please? Tell her to come and collect their bloody mail.
Starting point is 00:36:09 She got parking tickets up the wazoo. Play ZDM's Brie and Clint. Most of the time I'm on TikTok and I'm scrolling and I'm scrolling. And, you know, it's a bunch of videos. I don't take much notice until a video stopped me in my tracks. Oh, okay. And I couldn't help but watch this video a couple of times. And then I was led to these people's profiles.
Starting point is 00:36:33 And I was absolutely a taking aback with the talent. Right. The TikTok I'm talking about is called Mum and Me Busking. Right. And it's of a mum and a daughter. The daughter's age nine And they sing together And it's absolutely amazing
Starting point is 00:36:52 Take a listen That's a lot of And they join us on the phone She's on the phone right now Hello girls Hi! Hi! Oh my God, I feel like Ellen DeGeneres uncovering a super talented child right now.
Starting point is 00:37:24 I feel like these are the next big artist in New Zealand. Ellie, you're incredible. Thank you so much. How long have you been singing for, Ellie? Well, I started busking around last, the end of lunch year, but singing, oh, probably since I was around about four. Mom always taught me. I listened to her singing.
Starting point is 00:37:42 Yeah. This is pretty cool, because I've talked to you a little bit on the socials, and Jessie, you and Ali go around New Zealand busking. Yeah, that's right. We were heading on a trip up north. I was actually taking Ali to go and visit my grandparents, her great-grandparents up north in Fungara and the Udu Par. And then I said to Al, should we just bust on the way up?
Starting point is 00:38:08 And it's kind of eventuated from there, really. Oh, my God. That's so cool. Did it cover your gas money for the trip up? Yeah. Wow. It actually covered all our hotels. No way!
Starting point is 00:38:17 You must be good then. Ellie, where do you reckon is the most generous place in the country to busk? Who's got the most money? Oh, I'm going to say Naruawahia or Auckland. Naruahuahia? Yeah. Good to know. That's where you guys are from, right?
Starting point is 00:38:31 Yes. That's amazing. What are your favourite artists to cover, Ellie? I quite enjoy... You're right into Madonna. Yeah, I go to Madonna and Cindy Lohan. Cindy Lauper. Cindy Lauper?
Starting point is 00:38:45 Yes, yes. And newer singers I like to sing some Justin Bieber, Billy Eilish. I like to sing new songs. Sometimes I sing one direction. I've seen your page. You guys can really do it all. You would clean up on the wedding scene. Yeah, we'd be like official wedding singers.
Starting point is 00:39:05 It'd be hilarious. We just enjoy singing all genre. Are you all good, Jessie, because you're the mum. Are you all good being the backup singer? Because I feel like Ellie's got the limelight here. I realize she's really, she's the star of the show. I absolutely am. I think I was nearly ready to hang the microphone up, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:39:19 And then she came along and re-sparked a little, you know, something in there. So I'll hang around for as long as she'll have that. No offense. She's Nicole Scherzinger and you're the Pussycat Dolls. Yes, I'll take it. Yeah. It's all right. I don't mind doing BVs for a living.
Starting point is 00:39:33 Yeah, cool. I just think you guys are so fantastic and it's so cool to see a mum and daughter do their thing and do something different and chase their passions. I have a bit of an offer I'd like to throw out to you. you guys. Yeah. We have a platform here at ZM and we're all, we love local talent and we love to give them a platform.
Starting point is 00:39:54 I would love it if you guys were open to coming into the studio and doing a performance for us and for our audience. Oh my gosh. Yes, please. You'd be live on the radio, Ellie, and your performance would be broadcast around the whole country? Would you be okay with that? That was amazing.
Starting point is 00:40:11 That sounds absolutely amazing. We're just grateful to even be chatting with you guys today. What a blessing. I feel like you guys are born for this. I'll bring a $2 coin. You put the hat down. I'll throw it in there while you're performing. I know the deal.
Starting point is 00:40:21 Oh, cheap. You can do a $5 note, point? Well, I'll see how we go. Let's sort this out. Let's organize it. They can do an acoustic corner at ZM. Oh, yeah, we can get you in the acoustic corner. We'll get the microphone set up.
Starting point is 00:40:32 We'll get it all. It'll be your own official tiny desk. Yes. It'll be great. You up for it, Ellie? Yes. Deal. I'm so excited.
Starting point is 00:40:41 I'm shaking hands through the radio with you right now, okay? Okay. Okay. Thank you. Thank you so much. No worries. Can't wait to meet them later in the week. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:40:49 How good's that going to be? Imagine when she makes it big, cracks the big time. We're going to be like, we discovered this. Yeah, you'll be looking for a cut, won't you? Not a big one. On the weekend, a friend of mine said, hey, can you drop me to the airport?
Starting point is 00:41:08 It would save me 50 bucks. And I said, I guess so. I wasn't doing anything with this. and a half of my weekend. Yeah, it's not like I've got a six-week-old newborn at home. Sure, I'm a good friend. I'll step up and I'll take you to the airport. I know the person it would have been too.
Starting point is 00:41:26 You do. They can get a freaking Uber. It's not even like they earn good money. They earn good money and they're in management at the company. Just put it on the company Uber. Anyway, I stepped up to the plate and I was like, okay, fine. I went and picked them up from Westmear, a very nice suburb. in Auckland.
Starting point is 00:41:46 And... You had to pick them up as well? Yeah. I picked them up. No. Pick them up. Door to door service. Jeez. Okay.
Starting point is 00:41:53 Went and picked them up. And as we were heading back towards the highway, I spotted from quite a while away a celebrity. Okay. And you know at first when you see a celebrity, I'm talking like quite a big name celebrity out in the wild. Yeah. My brain initially went, that looks like,
Starting point is 00:42:14 such and such. Yeah. And then as... But the rational part of your brain goes, no, there's no way. There's no way. There's no way. And as we got closer, I was like,
Starting point is 00:42:22 oh, nope, that is them because there's this celebrity partner standing next to them. Oh, you got the double? Got the double spotting. Okay. As we were driving, I spotted
Starting point is 00:42:33 Hollywood celebrity Tyke Waititi and his partner, Rita Orra. You said it was going to be disappointing than it is. Hey! Hey!
Starting point is 00:42:44 I would say they're big time celebrity. No, they are. Have you seen Tyker in the wild with Rita? Yes. Where? Lots of places. Play in touch. I have.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Where? Playing touch at Cox's Bay. Well, whose party was that? Why wasn't it I invited to that party? Sounds like a good time. Yeah, right. Okay, yeah, okay. Let's put it into perspective here.
Starting point is 00:43:10 Yes, they are Hollywood A-listers. Hollywood A-listers. Saw them. But they're our Hollywood A-Listers. listers. So? I've never seen them in public. I've heard that they live around Point Shev. Guys, I saw a Grammy award winning musician and you're like, oh my God, who? And you go, Lord, and you go, I'd still be pretty excited about that. Would you? Yeah, remember that time? I couldn't shut up about seeing her at that cafe in Ponsonbury. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Whereas people who
Starting point is 00:43:36 go to that cafe are like, oh, she comes here all the time. Yeah, but still exciting for me. Yeah. And even more exciting, I saw these A-list celebrities, Tyca Waititi, and Rita Oura doing very normal people things. Okay, what were they doing? They were lugging their suitcases and Tyca was tetracing them in the back of the car like we all do. An Uber or was it his own car, you reckon? Can't be sure. What sort of car was it?
Starting point is 00:44:05 It looked like an expensive SUV. Okay, could have been this. Yeah, it could have been. but I mean I thought that was pretty cool I remember my A-list celebrity encounter outside of like doing an interview or something I was on a flight back from Los Angeles and Anna Pacquin was on the flight
Starting point is 00:44:26 Yeah that's pretty cool By herself, well not by herself But solo parenting on the flight with her twins Oh that poor woman And she had to get And they were toddlers at this stage First class or even less No
Starting point is 00:44:38 Because she needed to sit in a row of three. So she had to sit back in Povow class with the rest of us. Cattle class. Yeah. So that she could have the row of three seats because they don't have that. And you don't want screaming babies. But I was like, oh my God, do not pick one.
Starting point is 00:44:52 And so no pick one's on the park. Let's feel a pick one from true blood. One of my favourites that I remember from my very early days in radio is I got word that Lady Gaga was coming in for an interview. And this was early days for her. But I mean, Just Dance was out and it was huge. And I had turned up to the station late, so she had left, and I was devastated about it. And they said, oh, she might be, because where the station was, it was attached to this shopping center, this particular station.
Starting point is 00:45:25 Right. And they said that apparently her and her team had asked where they could go get a bit of food, a bite to eat. Oh, okay. And they told them that if they walk across this bridge area, they could get to the shopping center and there's a food court in there. And I was like, stuff it. Did you see Lady Gaga at her a St. Pierre's sushi? I saw Lady Gaga with, I believe it was a Chinese fried rice.
Starting point is 00:45:48 Oh, okay. From the food court at the shopping centre. Yeah. And that's just a classic Lady Gaga. I mean, she's a woman of the people. We don't want your regular celeb sightings this afternoon. We want to see, we want your celeb sightings of celebs doing normal things. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:04 You know? Who's the celebrity that you saw, but they were doing completely normal people things? And you're like, oh my God, Gwyneth Paltrow is just like us. Yeah, she's taken out the rubbish. Yeah. She's at discount day at Gull, getting her 12 cents off a leader. I mean, you're not going to miss that. Dead is Franklin.
Starting point is 00:46:22 Over the weekend, I made an A-list celebrity sighting. As I was driving through the suburbs of Auckland, I saw Tyca Waititi and his Mrs. Retora packing their car with big suitcases. As New Zealand's leading Rita Aura impersonator. Hello, it's me, Rita Orra. That was weird. They must have been like seeing Superman and Clark Kent in the same place. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:46 I mean, I tried to yell out to her out the window, but I thought better not. So we asked, did you see a celebrity doing a normal thing? Abby's here. Hi, Abby. Hi, Abby. Hi, guys. How are you? Good, thanks.
Starting point is 00:46:57 What celebrity? Who did you see? She's a, you know, local, but Dan Carter. Yes. He came, so I was working at a pet food shop at the time. Yeah. And he was like the rest of us was buying pet food. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:10 Love that. You don't expect Dan Carter to have to buy dog food, do you, Abby? No, I feel like that should be run through the all-black. Yeah, they should be doing it. I need to know, Abby. Was he buying the top-quality food or was he a bit of a sting? Yes. I was working at a bougie raw feeding shop.
Starting point is 00:47:27 DC from memory has a very cute Swedish velhund. Oh, he didn't have his dog with him. Yeah. I've seen this dog on the gram, Swedish velhound. Oh, adorable. Oh, adorable. And 10 out of 10 breed knowledge, Clint. But anyways, the issue was that I saw, well, I saw a customer and I was chatting to him like a regular person buying dog food.
Starting point is 00:47:49 And then I asked for his phone number for the receipt. Yeah. For it in his account. Yeah. And I look at it and I go, holy shit. And then out loud, I go, oh, my God, it's Dan Carter. Yeah. Everybody turns and looks at me.
Starting point is 00:48:01 Oh. More like, oh my God, I just got Dan Carter's phone number. 13 year old me was screaming Abby between us did you secretly save the number in your phone? Yes no I should have I should have And all I was able to figure out what to say to him Because I was shocked and can't live and recognize him My mom has a really big crush on you
Starting point is 00:48:22 He would love that It's perfect Sandra's here, hi Sandra Hi Sandra Hi yeah You saw a celebrity doing a normal thing Sandra I did It was a head-turning moment
Starting point is 00:48:33 My husband and I were and our kids were in an amusement arcade in the States in Santa Monica. Okay. We were looking at, my husband and I were looking at each other going, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that Nicholas Cage? Whoa. Well, I was Nicholas Cage with his wife and little child and they were just playing ski ball, like a normal couple. That's so cool. And embarrassing me, so we did go up to him and ask for a photo and he was amazing. He was absolutely lovely chance. Oh, that's good to hear.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Are you sure it wasn't Nicholas Kaye? playing a version of Nicholas Cage? You know what? He does speak like Nicholas Cage. Yeah. Be sure it wasn't John Travolta in that movie Face Off? Yeah, do you know what I mean? Like he does speak like himself on the movie.
Starting point is 00:49:19 Amazing. That's a good one. That's such a good one. Justine's here. Hi, Justine. Hi, Justine. Hello. Who was the celebrity you saw doing a normal thing?
Starting point is 00:49:28 So, after uni, I worked at a Skefield in the States in California. And we had a number of celebrities come through, Adam Sandler, the funny guy from Full House that I can't remember the name of, not Uncle Jee or Daddy. Uncle Joey. Yeah, the one that cheated on Alanis Morissette. What an idiot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:50 But the best one was I sold her tickets to a group of people, and the woman went and paid and her card declined. I was like, yeah, no. And so the guy sent forward, handed his card over. I looked at it, and it said Justin Timbley. Oh, okay. Wow. Sign this credit card receipt.
Starting point is 00:50:07 That went in my pocket, not in the tilt. Justine. Incredible. That's amazing. We asked, did you see a celebrity doing a normal thing? Someone said, we saw Richie McCaw getting groceries. Again, you don't expect Richie McCourt to have to do his own groceries, do you?
Starting point is 00:50:21 No. What about this? I saw Leonardo DiCaprio in line for a coffee in Queenstown. Queenstown's like another world. Isn't that? You know? Because it is New Zealand, but it's also. also not New Zealand.
Starting point is 00:50:33 How crazy is that? Leonardo DiCaprio is a list. Jamie Dornan from 50 Shades of Grey is in Wellington right now and I saw him hitting leg day at Simplicity Fitness the other week. He looked very normal. Well, I'd feel so bad about myself if I turned up to the gym and he's like, I'm waiting for Jamie Doren to do his set. I'm like, oh God, can you hurry up, man?
Starting point is 00:50:56 Billy Connolly, a long time ago, eating ice cream walking in the Wellington CBD. So good. Iconic, that's great. Someone said, I got to serve Sir Anthony Hopkins out for a wee dinner date with his wife in a little restaurant in Invercargol when he was here filming the world's fastest Indian. That's so cool. That's amazing. Jack said I want a trip to Jason Dorolo live in Sydney and I ran into Prince Harry at 4am at the Star Casino at the Pocys.
Starting point is 00:51:24 Amazing. But I didn't know it was him. That's incredible. How sure are you that it was Prince Harry and it was not just some ginger. guy. Oh, Prince Harry having a slap on the pokies, eh? But at 4 a.m. in a casino, it could have been anyone. It could have been anyone. Yeah, it really could have been. I saw Mike McRobberts doing shitty parking in Kelston and pissing people off. Someone else said, I saw Mark Zuckerberg walking his dog in San Francisco. Like a robot. I wonder if he had a, like a, I just
Starting point is 00:51:54 picture him to have security around him all the time. I saw Brett McKenzie from Flight of the Concords at the breakfast buffet at the Quarters a couple of weeks ago. We were toasting our bread together. My friend walked past and whispered in my ear, You're standing next to Brett McKenzie? And I hadn't realised. I wanted to fan out, but my friends wouldn't allow it. I had to play it cool like a regular Kiwi.
Starting point is 00:52:16 Yeah, nice. What about this? I saw Rachel Hunter buying a meat pie. Sick. The only thing to be better than that would be Rachel Hunter buying a trumpet. I saw Austin Butler getting cash out of an ATM on Ponsonbury Road in Auckland. That's amazing. What film did Austin Butler do in New Zealand?
Starting point is 00:52:34 I don't know. What about this? I spotted Johnny Knoxville at the beach in Malibu whilst on holiday with my family. He was holding up a towel for a girl who I assume was his daughter while she was getting dressed. That's cute.
Starting point is 00:52:48 I saw Josh Thompson from seven days at the chemist and I thought I knew him and I awkwardly went over to say hi. And then I went, oh, sorry, I've just realized that you're not my friend. You're a famous person. Someone else said I saw Stanley Tootchy on the London Tube. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:05 That's pretty cool. I saw Lewis Capaldi sweating like everyone else getting off the tube in London. Oh, relatable. Yeah. Someone said my ex-partner was in Tony's Steakhouse and David Bowie got a siggy of her and bought one back the next day for her to her stall in Cook Street. Tony Steakhouse. Wait, so David. My favourite steak restaurant in Auckland.
Starting point is 00:53:29 Across the road from the new train station. He's bummed a siggy off of someone there and then bought one back to her the next day. That wins. That wins. That's pretty cool. Z-Dems, Brinclent. Bringin'clock. All I want from my birthday to the birthday banger.
Starting point is 00:53:45 Here we go, your birthday banger's number one song's when you turn 16. Let's see what we get today. Otto's going to do mum's birthday banger. Gay, Otto. Hi, Otto. Hi. How old are you, mate? I'm 12.
Starting point is 00:53:58 You're 12. and you're here to do mum's birthday banger. What's mum's birthday? She is the 27th of May 1980. All right, Otto. That means your mum was 16 in 1996. And here's her birthday banger. Ah, banger.
Starting point is 00:54:18 Oh, yeah. Tupac and Dr. Dre. Do you reckon your mum would be into that, Otto? Oh, yeah, 100%. Yeah, it's a good idea. All right, wait there. We're going to do a birthday banger for Thomas. Kura Thomas.
Starting point is 00:54:31 Hi, Thomas. How's it going? Good, thank you, mate. You've had a good Monday? Yeah, can't complain, day off. Oh, what? Oh, okay. How come you had the day off?
Starting point is 00:54:40 I just don't work the Mondays. Oh, I like that, Siri. How bloody good is that? Hey, what is your birthday, mate? 23rd March, 1993. All right, that means you were 16 in 2009. And on that day in 2009, this was at the top. Oh, do you like it, Thomas?
Starting point is 00:55:09 Oh, be honest. but the misses will. Yeah. Yeah, the misses will be well into it. I like it. No, you don't. Yes, I do. No, you don't.
Starting point is 00:55:17 That's a classic from Taylor Swift. It's played out. You reckon it's overplayed? I don't know. I reckon it's a classic from her. Let's go to Deborah. Hi, Deborah. Hi, Deborah.
Starting point is 00:55:28 Hello, how are you guys? Good. How's your day being? Good, good. What have you been doing, Deborah? Yeah, Debra. What have you been up to, eh? No, just working, nothing too much.
Starting point is 00:55:38 I have an answer about why Austin Butler was in Auckland. Oh, go on. Yeah, because someone said they saw him at an ATM in Ponsonby. Yeah, he was filming a TV series called The Shinarah Chronicles, and then he dated Vanessa Hudgens. What? She was filming in New Zealand at the same time.
Starting point is 00:55:56 Wow. Okay, all of that went over our head. What year would this have been, Deborah? And how do you know? Did you work on the production? No, I watched the show, and then I googled it. So it was kind of when he wasn't really that famous. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:56:08 It was about 2016 or 17. Okay. All right. Thanks for the Intel, Deborah. We appreciate it. I love that you, Deborah, was listening and you're like, I know why it was here. It's my specialist category. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:56:20 What's your day to birth, Deb? 15th of March, 1980. All right, that means you was 16 in 1996. And on that day, this was number one. Oh, yeah. Oasis Wonderwall. They are at the moment teasing another. World Tour for 2027.
Starting point is 00:56:44 Are you a fan, Deb? I'm a fan of that song, not necessarily of them, but that particular song definitely takes me back to some good night. Okay, cool. Yeah, yeah, right. Okay, wait there. We're going to choose between two 90s bangers in Dr. Dre and Oasis and Taylor Swift's love story.
Starting point is 00:57:02 What are you choosing? Wonderwall. Love story. Claudia, what's the winner? Oh, I feel like I've got so much power right now. You can choose all three. Any. Any?
Starting point is 00:57:15 Or Wonderwall. I feel like you can't pass up Wonderwall when it comes around, you know? I mean, they're all good. I was happy with Annie. Deb, you just won birthday banger. Woo-hoo. Whoa. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:57:28 I hope they choose New Zealand for their tour this time. I have a funny feeling they won't, which will be devastating. Here it is. From 1996, it's Oasis on ZM. Today is going to be the day that they're going to throw it back to you. Z&M's Breed and Clint podcast. A lot of bad press for AI, I feel like. Especially in the last week or so.
Starting point is 00:57:54 What's the last week or so? There's a whole bunch of high up execs and a couple of the big ones who are resigning because they have said that. This is dangerous. Yes. I have seen those headlines. Yes. They said the way that it is going.
Starting point is 00:58:08 They're like, this is bad news for the world. It's not safe for people and I don't want anything to do with it. Well, this might add to that bad news. I definitely feel like it does. New data has found that two in five people were open to swapping human intimacy for AI relationships. Two in five? Two in five. It says 17% admitted to already having done so.
Starting point is 00:58:38 Gen Z, so those aged between 14 and 29, led the charge in these results with almost one in three in a relationship with an AI bot. What? Yeah? According to these results. In a relationship with an AI. In a full-on relationship with an AI bot.
Starting point is 00:59:01 A third, so 31% of those dating, said they have used AI. Oh, this is different. That's fine. Said they've used AI to optimize their dating profiles, but that's fine. That's different. Everyone's doing that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:16 But the alarming statistics for me are just how many people are actually dating. Dating a robot. Yeah. It's like it is literally that movie that Joaquin Phoenix was in. Scarlett Johansson. Scarlet Johansson was the voice of the AI and he was in a full-blown relationship. Yeah. How, I've got to be my...
Starting point is 00:59:36 too judgmental. It's my new thing. I'm trying not to be such judgmental. You're struggling though, aren't you? Oh, wow. What a wonderful opportunity for people to feel love from a computer. Here's the thing. Does your AI girlfriend still get mad at you if you go out with the boys? No. Right. But what if it did? Well, actually, I don't, how am I supposed to know? I haven't dated an AI bot. Does your AI girlfriend...
Starting point is 01:00:05 I would say though, in my experience of using AI, AI is always on my side. Yeah. I've never... Yeah, there's a real... You're right, there's a real sort of... You know, I've never been met with pushback from my AI. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know?
Starting point is 01:00:20 My AI's never told me to pull my head in. If you said to AI, should I get a bob, it would go, wonderful idea. I support this. You have the facial structure to support this. Which is a lie. Like, no one does unless you're bloody... Who's got a good Bob? Um,
Starting point is 01:00:36 um, um, um, um, um, who's got a good Bob? Who does that? Margo Robbie?
Starting point is 01:00:44 I mean, she could pull it off. It's a lob. Oh, it's scary. Two and five seems crazy. That seems outrageous. No,
Starting point is 01:00:51 two in five said that they would. Oh, would. Would. And then the other statistic was Gen Z. They just haven't met the right AI yet. Gen Z,
Starting point is 01:01:00 which is those age between 14 and 29, said that, one in three was already in a relationship with an AI bot. Oh, well, that's worse. Yeah, it is worse. The ZDM Podcast Network. Big train news.
Starting point is 01:01:16 You've been on the new train yet? Not yet. I don't want to go on the new train. I wanted to wait a little bit for, you know, die down because I feel like it would have been packed. I don't reckon it's going to die down. I reckon it's just it now. I reckon this is it. I reckon this is it. That's what they want.
Starting point is 01:01:30 This is it. And there's so many ways they're trying to get you on the new train now, too. Like how? like influences riding on the train and making videos of it. I saw Chris Parker did a video on the weekend. Yep, slashing people's tires. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Real talk, I think they are going to bring in a congestion charge
Starting point is 01:01:48 so that you can't drive on the motorway unless you pay at certain times. What? To push people onto the train. What do you mean? They want you on the train, okay? And this is a good way, I think, to get people on the train. So this is the new city rail link in Auckland. Okay, the big underground subway thing.
Starting point is 01:02:07 Have you heard of the city Ale link? No. So it's a passport that you get, like a card, and you get on the train at Brittermart, and then at each of the stops from the Altier one, up to K Road, up to Mount Eden, then Kings and then Morningside. You get a free beer.
Starting point is 01:02:25 No, not a free bear. But there's a pub at each of the stations, and you get off and you have a beer at each of the pubs along the new train line. So it's like a train pub crawl. It's a train pub crawl. I like that idea. Because the worst part of a pub crawl, let's be real, is the walking.
Starting point is 01:02:42 And the worst part of a train is the sobriety. Yeah. So this is genius. If you get all five stamps in the passport, you get discounts and benefits at the pubs that offer it. It's pretty good. So you go again, I guess. But this is five points subsidised by public transport. No Uber.
Starting point is 01:03:03 No Uber. Oh, I guess you've got to get home somehow. Yeah. Can't you catch a train? Well, you catch a train back and you hit all the pubs on the way back. Five pints on the train? Yeah. Don't tempt me with the good time.
Starting point is 01:03:15 I'll say. One of them goes straight past Eden Park, so you could do it on the way to Eden Park for a game. And on the way home, hit them all the way back on the way home. Oh, to do the 10-pinter? Yeah. Responsibly. Responsibly, of course. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:32 Anyway, if you've been on the train, nine-six, six. 9 6. What's it like? I really want to go on the train. Mate, we know how you do love to ride that rail. Yeah. So get your ass on the train, people. That's big train news.
Starting point is 01:03:44 Chuk, chika, chica, chica, chica, chica, chica, chica, chica. Was that me? That was you. What the hell? A ZM's Breinclin podcast. And that's the end of us for the day. We're done. I am keen to go home because I am ravenous.
Starting point is 01:04:02 Are you? What a great word. Ravenous. I feel like it really encapsulates how you feel. Yeah, it's a real vibe. You know, when you are ravenous. Me, on the other hand, I've had two lunches and two boiled eggs. I knew you were a bit wiffy.
Starting point is 01:04:18 I know. I went into a different room to peel them. Did you? The fart aroma from a pre-boiled egg in the workplace. It's pungent, isn't it? It is. But it reminds me of home. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:31 God, you know what I, can we? Can we have a deviled egg party in the studio? Oh, how good's a deviled egg? How underrated is a good deviled egg? I don't mind a curried egg either. Same. Yeah, yeah. Both vibes.
Starting point is 01:04:44 These are all the foods we can enjoy now that our vegan producer Ella doesn't work here. Devil Deg is the one that's wrapped in meat, eh? No. What's that? Deviled eggs where they... Oh, I'm thinking of a scotch egg. Oh, scotch egg is also good. Oh, yeah, where they wrap it in meat and then they breadcrumb it.
Starting point is 01:05:02 Yes. And they deep food. fry it. A deviled egg is where they hard boil them and then you take out the yolk of all of them. Yeah. And then you put stuff with the yolk. Oh, that's a curry dig. Oh, yeah, but just... Yeah, deviled egg, curry deer. Yeah, yeah, yeah, same thing. Oh, the world
Starting point is 01:05:15 is our oyster. And don't get you started on oysters. The world is our egg. See you guys tomorrow. Boy. Play ZDM's Brian Clint on on Instagram. Facebook, TikTok. And live weekdays from three on ZDM.
