Starting point is 00:00:00 ZDM's Brie and Clint podcast. Play ZDM's Brie and Clint. Zidems, Bree and Clint, thanks to KFC. For the original, Zatems, Brie and Clint. Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the Bree and Clint show. With No Bree, she's taking a long, long weekend. Her family are over from Australia, so she's going to spend some time with them.
Starting point is 00:00:31 I am back from Cry Church. I went to the cricket last night at Hagley Oval. How good is Christchurch? at the moment. My God. The weather down there yesterday was like 27 degrees. Yeah, and all I pack was jeans. So that was good. Crigger was incredible. And then I flew back this morning. I've been judging a school speech competition, which you guys called me a nerd for, which I didn't appreciate. We're just saying it how it is, bro. It's not. It's contributing to the community, okay? It's two of your favorite things, though. Talking and judging.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Well, shout out to all the kids and the speech commission. You guys did such a great job. Today on the show, we have our final double pass to give away to Laneway 2027. We'll do that at 5 o'clock with split or steal. Is someone going to be brave enough to steal both of the Laneway tickets today? That's the big question. Only one person out of the four rounds that we've done has said steal. I'm not saying you need to do that.
Starting point is 00:01:33 I'm just saying if you want to do that, two tickets is better than one ticket, you know? And there's no judgment, not from us. So 5 to 5 the activator for free laneway tickets will happen. As you hopefully head away for your long weekend, let's do a Trady versus Lady. Only one Trady and one lady on 0800 dial Zidem who want to play with us. Trades are still way up. It's 9384 to the Trades. But that could change and it could change today.
Starting point is 00:01:58 Play Zatems, Bree and Clint. This is the main event. Treaty versus Lady. When will the gap close in Trady versus Lady? It's kind of been the same for a little while now. Although we do have an update on those scores that I read out before. It's actually Trades 93, Ladies 85. So they've closed it to an eight-point game, the ladies, but they're still behind.
Starting point is 00:02:24 And let's see how today goes. Our lady is in Auckland. She's 39, and she's driving to Papa Moore at the moment. Welcome to the show, Hannah. Hi. Long, long weekend? Sure is. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Now we're off on our way. Oh, how good. Great weather for it. stoked for you guys. You're taking on our tradie from Huntley. He's 18 and he has a long mullet. Welcome to the show, Mason. No, it's true. Yeah, Archer.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Do you grease that thing up, Mason, or do you let it flow all natural? Nah, naturally greased up, mate. Naturally greased up. How often do you wash your mullet? Oh, not that often. Do you deep condition? No, every now and then. Every now and then. Yeah, see, self-care.
Starting point is 00:03:08 All right, Mason, your buzzers's Trady. Hannah, your buzzer's lady, the first to Three correct answers gets the win and the 50 bucks thanks to KFC. Good luck, guys. Question number one, easy question. What is the name of our national men's rugby team? Trady. Madey.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Mason with the muller. All black. Correct. Question number two. Colleen Hoover, Stephen King and Frida McFadden are all famous what? Brady. Mason. What did you say?
Starting point is 00:03:39 Actors. Yeah. Hannah, Colleen Hoover, Stephen King and Frida McFadden, a famous what? Authors? Yeah, authors. Well done. Question number three. Who sings this song?
Starting point is 00:03:57 Lady. Hannah, it's your generation. Oh, um, R. Kelly? No. No, we're contractually prevented from doing an R. Kelly song in Trady versus Lady. Mason, do you want a free guess? Nah, wouldn't have a clue. Nelly, guys.
Starting point is 00:04:16 Who will be disgusted at being confused for R. Kelly. All right. Still one of peace, let's go to question number four. In the beloved animated movie, Shrek, what kind of creature is Shrek? Lady. Can't split you. So we'll move on. He's an ogre.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Who was the very first president of the United States? Brady. Mason. Oh, what is this? Next one. No. Hannah. Oh.
Starting point is 00:04:50 First President of the United States. First President of the United States. Yeah, it's the one you're thinking of. I'll give you three. Two. No. One. Have you got it, Mason?
Starting point is 00:05:01 I'm running out of questions. What have you got? Albert Einstein. Albert Einstein is a fantastically wrong answer. It's George Washington, guys. What are we at? Are we at where it was? Still at one all, aren't we?
Starting point is 00:05:14 Okay, how many questions do I have left? I've got one, two, three. Oh yeah, we can still get this decided. What is the name of Barbie's iconic, long-term male companion? Maybe. Hannah. Ken. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:28 The next Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, California, and what year? Maybe. Hannah, for the win? 28. 2028's correct. She's a land. That was fun. Hannah, you get the first.
Starting point is 00:05:47 50 bucks. Thanks to KFC to spend at the beach and Papa Moore this weekend. Well done. No, wait, thank you. And can we say hi to my kids, Charlotte and Louis in the car? Hell yeah. Hi, Charlotte and Louis. Mason, you got any shoutouts? Cher the boys. Cheer the boys. Thanks, man.
Starting point is 00:06:03 That's Trady versus Lady. Ladies get a much-needed win. Someone's text in and asked me to do a traffic report. And that's actually not a skill that I have in my broadcasting repertoire. I don't think I've ever done in Traffic Report before. So, I can crowdsource it If you tell me where the traffic is bad
Starting point is 00:06:22 And you text it in I might be able to say it But yeah If you're not in traffic, I don't really care, do you? I was in an Uber last night And it was the third time That I saw this thing in an Uber That I've only started seeing recently And I'm interested to know if you guys listening
Starting point is 00:06:37 And you producers have ever seen this before Most Uber's are a what type of car? Electric Oh Prius Okay Wouldn't you say Prius? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:48 White or silver Prius. Yeah. Generally. Sometimes you get a red Prius. Oh, that'sy. Yeah. I have gotten three Prius. What's the plural of Prius?
Starting point is 00:06:58 Prei. Prei. Three pre-eye recently. You know how they've got that screen and it shows you how much, it's got like the flow chart, it shows you how much of the battery is going to the wheels, how much of the engine is going to the wheels, and it's got that little flow chart.
Starting point is 00:07:12 So when you spend your time watching when you're in the Uber. Usually, because I get car sick if I look at my phone. I don't know if they're, those screens are finally breaking because most of the pre-eye around the country, they've had a hard life. Yeah, they've done it rough. They're Ubering their face off every day. I have now gotten three Uber's in the last couple of weeks where the driver has stuck
Starting point is 00:07:32 a giant tablet, like an iPad or a generic tablet, over the screen in the Uber, and then on that screen, they're just playing YouTube videos. What? Behind their steering wheel. Not behind their steering wheel, in the centre. in the centre so all the passengers can see the tablet. Are the videos for them or are they for you? So this is what I don't know.
Starting point is 00:07:53 This is what I don't know. Last night I'm away home from the cricket we got in this Uber and it was the largest of all the tablets I've seen glued to the screen in an Uber. And it was on this playlist of, I'm going to call it the worst AI music I've ever heard in my life. Except for maybe this banger, the pirate song.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Cannon's Road and the Thunder Roll. The kids do tall his spirit bold. No way Raise the flat Let the base explode He's riding storms With the Uber Home This is us in the Uber Home
Starting point is 00:08:27 Yeah Me and Maddie were like Oh Oh oh oh But we're on But I don't know What has changed I don't know if there's been
Starting point is 00:08:37 Some kind of law changed Because I thought The driver wasn't allowed To see any videos Yeah that sounds Incredibly dangerous There's so many There's so many screens
Starting point is 00:08:45 In cars now That it's like it's kind of murky territory. Yeah. But YouTube. The moving picture part seems like an easy distraction. The Uber I got in on the way to the airport from Auckland on Thursday morning, the person was watching like a podcast.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Oh. They were watching a podcast. Why? In the Uber. That's the beauty of a podcast is that you can just listen to it while you concentrate on the road. And I get it. Driving is boring. Yeah, it's really boring.
Starting point is 00:09:13 But you're the driver. You have to focus. You are responsible. If you want it to be an entertainment thing, like if you're trying to get five stars, put the screen in the back. I had that once. Someone, the first thing I did I hopped in the car and he handed me his little tablet and it had YouTube loaded up and he was like, pick your playlist, pick whatever you want,
Starting point is 00:09:30 load up a video and it was in the back with me. Yeah. Yeah. I got it an over one time it was a van and he had a full karaoke set up. Yeah. That's amazing. And you and your friends could pick a karaoke song and there were like LED lights going around in the back of the van. It was sick.
Starting point is 00:09:46 I'd be like, hey, give me a second. I just need to change my destination and make it way further away. Yeah, we're not going the clubs anymore. We're just driving around in this Uber. My crazy's Uber was a Tesla. Now you can see when the car drives, but it was like Rainbow Road themed. Like Mario Car. Yeah, and I was like severely hung over watching this at 5 a.m.
Starting point is 00:10:04 And I was like, whoa. But again, hugely distracting for the driver. Definitely. Because I would feel like I was playing Mario Car in real life. This isn't real. You know? We've got a text here from Ricky. It says, as a prior pre-eye.
Starting point is 00:10:16 owner, the screens don't do well in the heat sometimes. So they could be bugging out and they don't want you to see it. I get that, but just like, it's very different. It's very different to playing an entire YouTube video. Yeah. You know? I want to know, we're just going to go around the room. I want to know what you, what your Uber driver was up to.
Starting point is 00:10:35 My Uber drivers recently more and more watching YouTube videos while driving. Some of them putting on a karaoke situation. Quite often, having quite heated conversation. with family members through the Bluetooth airpiece. But if you've seen something worth mentioning, I want to know. There is Franklin. Hashtag not all Uber drivers, by the way, but I personally have been in three Ubers,
Starting point is 00:10:58 recently where that has happened. One of them was last night in Christchurch on the way home from the cricket. Someone said, highly illegal to play videos on a screen in the driver's field of view, sorry. And someone else said, please report the iPads and Ubers. I was going to, and then I got distracted by the Pirate. banger that he was playing. Kids to tall his spirit bone.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Raise the flag, let the base explode. He's right in store. I had this thought when he was playing his AI pirate bangers. I was like, how can radio compete with this? How can we compete with non-stop unlimited AI pirate bangers on an iPad in the Uber? You know? We're going to have to diversify, guys. Anyway, we asked you guys, what did you see inside an Uber?
Starting point is 00:11:46 Someone said, I had an Uber driver having a full-on conversation via video call. I asked him to pull over to finish his call as respectfully I had paid to get to my destination with your full attention being on the road. He then gave me the phone and said, okay, well, you talk to them then, which is a power move from the Uber driver. I told them he is working and he will call them back later. Good on you, Dakin. Matt's here.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Hi, Matt. Hey, how you going? Good. Labor long weekend. What did you see inside an Uber, Matt? So I also experienced the iPad with the AI Pirate Thingers. Okay, what city were you in? I was in Auckland.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Oh, okay. Yeah, the story I wanted to share was I live in Wellington. Yeah. And the Uber that was taking me to Auckland, it was, I don't even think this car should have been on the road. Like, it was barely road legal. Yeah. Anyway, didn't get out, didn't help me with my bags and all of that.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Anyway, I get into the Uber and at like max volume, this guy is listening to an audio book. And I'm just between you and me. It was a little bit raunchy as well. Yes. Like this grade version of like 50 shades of gray, like really, really loud. He didn't speak to me the whole time. No. And it was like this cheap, like, he wasn't even a subscriber because it's like to hear the rest of the story.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Oh my God. It was so awkward. He was on the Pov-O version. An audio book, much like a podcast, I feel, as a one-person activity. That's a solo activity. Yeah. So weird to make you feel like you're imposing on his sexy book time while he's getting paid to drive you around. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Wow. Okay. Oh, actually, Matt, how many stars? How many stars for that Uber driver? Oh, look, I should have given him a half a star, but I'm not that savage. So I just kind of... Can you give a half a star? I don't think you can.
Starting point is 00:13:47 No, I think you can give no stars. I think one star is about as low as you can go. Yeah, yeah, thanks, Matt. Someone said there was a guy in the Uber I was in that was watching live rugby on the iPad thing, and he was yelling at the team, and he kept swerving off the road, and I asked him to stop,
Starting point is 00:14:02 and he said, can you just mind your business? And you go, no, I'm paying for this Uber. The least I expect is you not to be watching rugby while driving the Uber. Anyway, it's out there, guys, and you have the power and the star rating. ZD.N. It is Labor Day on Monday. It's the MPC final on Monday.
Starting point is 00:14:25 It's going to be a great day. But you, Grace, new producer Grace, said there's another holiday today that people are overlooking. It's a very important holiday, especially that I'm new to the show. I think it makes it even more important to me. Okay. All right. Interesting. So today is actually national.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Slap your co-worker day. And it's actually national. slap your annoying co-worker day. And I've just joined, you know. An important day for me is the new producer. I don't feel comfortable slapping you. That's not what I said. I don't feel comfortable slapping you.
Starting point is 00:14:58 My thought is we all vote on who the annoying co-worker is and they get slapped. Okay. Well, Bree's not here. So you can't slap her. She's not here. It's so rude. I know where this is going and I'm desperately trying to avoid. Fine.
Starting point is 00:15:16 three of us. Let's vote on who the most annoying co-worker is. Three, two, one. Grace. Don't choose Grace. That's so mean. Because she's going to slap me. Fine, come in here. He's letting.
Starting point is 00:15:32 I'm not doing this for nothing. You better be recording. You recording? We're getting this on the cameras. Yeah, we got it all. And if you're going to slap me, I want you to slap me, all right? No, I don't want to slap you hard. If you're going to slap me, I want you to properly slap me. You also have to bend down.
Starting point is 00:15:47 Grace is a foot shorter than me. All right. Okay, I'm going to slap Clint. Here we go. I'll do it right in the... Wait, do you want right or left hand? I don't care. Do you want my rings on or off?
Starting point is 00:15:59 I don't want to get slapped. I don't care. Just do it. I'll take my rings off. All right. Okay, guys, I'm about to slap Clint. Oh. He's often slapped him with the other hand.
Starting point is 00:16:19 Did you sleep me with the ring hand? Yeah. You know what? I'm not feeling the freshest today. I went to the cricket last night. flew home early this morning. They actually kind of woke me up a bit. Do you feel good?
Starting point is 00:16:30 It's kind of refreshing. And the fact that I'm a foot shorter than Clint. All right, my turn. Here we go. No, just kidding. Take your head off. All right, well, it's almost end of the work day. If you want to slap your co-worker, you've got about an hour left.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Z&M's Breed and Clint podcast. The T, live from L.A. with Dean McAfee. Dean, who's the latest cast member of Cats to come out and slag off the movie Cats? Oh my goodness, I don't even know there's anyone left, but apparently there is Judy Dent. We love her. She has done a new memoir queen, and she said that, quote, that movie was a waste of goodwill and a waste of talent. She can't even bear to watch it. Do you know she's never seen it?
Starting point is 00:17:16 She's never even seen it. She said, and I believe her, like she's not some shady, celebrity just saying, you know, funny. No, no, no, no. She hasn't seen it. It received a 17% Rotten Tomatoes review, which is one of the lowest I can even remember Rotten Tomatoes Giving. We always forget, you know, Taylor Swift was in that movie. Yeah. Like, that was, like, that had a good budget. It was a budget of almost $300 million, and it lost over $100 million when it, you know, it was all set and done. And she just said it was, you know, it was such a bad film. But you know what she said, look, we all did our best. No one wants to do a bad film.
Starting point is 00:17:51 But, yeah, she's just not played out. I haven't seen it. I've only seen clips of it. I would not put myself through it. I think they suffered from that thing. And a lot of live actions have this issue where they tried to make them look too realistic. Like they tried to make the cat version of Taylor Swift look too human.
Starting point is 00:18:09 Do you know what I mean? Like, they needed to be an element of this is Taylor Swift in a costume, but they tried to morph the two of them together. Kind of like the live action version of Lion King, where they're like, this is Beyonce as a lion. You know what I mean? Yeah, good example. Great example.
Starting point is 00:18:24 Yeah, I think you're right. They either went too far or not far enough. Yeah, yeah. You're exactly right. It's either all cat or obviously not a cat, I think. Yeah. This movie came out seven years ago, and we're still on the radio slagging off the movie cats.
Starting point is 00:18:40 That's the T with Dean McCarthy. The ZDM Podcast Network. Can you vote yet? Is it voting open? Can we vote this weekend? Do you know how you can vote before the election? Isn't it like two weeks until the election? now?
Starting point is 00:18:52 Yeah, what is it, November 8th? Can we vote? I don't know. I was at the cricket last night in Christchurch and they, you know how they have like a campaign to get people to register to vote and they use that orange guy? I think they're running out of money because they just put a guy in a morph suit, an orange morph suit, which ban the morph suit.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Yeah, it's not good on anyone. Particularly on a man. Particularly on a man. And I just had a QR code on the front. I was like, this is janky. That could have been just a cardboard cut out. Yeah, it could have been anything. It could have been an animation.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Yeah, I don't know. Anyway, the sooner we... Maybe that was the real orange man. We don't know. The sooner we can get this voting crap out of the way and move on with our lives, in my opinion, the better. Very important, though. Make sure you've enrolled.
Starting point is 00:19:40 You have to do it before the 25th, which is in two days. Please enroll. No, that is a good message. It's sexy to vote. It is sexy to wear a morph suit. No, that is not sexy. That's a crime in 2026. Hey, big changes announced today for Airbnbs,
Starting point is 00:19:56 for people who stay in Airbnb's. They are no longer allowed to put crazy cleaning rules on you as the person who stays in the Airbnb. Hooray! I always found it crazy that you pay people these crazy amount of money to stay in their house, which is fair. You charge whatever you want, you choose to pay it.
Starting point is 00:20:12 And then quite often you pay a cleaning fee on top of that, which you don't do if you stay in a hotel or a motel or a resort. and then on top of that cleaning fee, they leave a list of jobs for you to do before you leave the Airbnb. What are you on about, bra? Even washing the dishes, I'm like, I will do it because I'm a nice person,
Starting point is 00:20:31 but this shouldn't be part of it. I will stack the dishwasher. That's as far as I will go. The rule changes from Airbnb, there's a few of them. One of them, it says no more demanding checkout chores. Hosts can no longer require guests to do jobs like washing and putting away dishes or stripping the beds. reasonable requests like putting dishes in the sink,
Starting point is 00:20:52 gathering up used towels, and sorting the rubbish is still allowed. That's okay. And I feel like that's common decency. Yeah, they're nice little basic cleanups. Isn't it? You have to disclose the house rules up front. Hosts have to clearly display the rules in a designated section.
Starting point is 00:21:08 So no animals, no parties. I feel like they already do that. Yeah. They're pretty upfront. I feel like every Airbnb says no parties. Yeah. What else you've got on Airbnb more? What else am I going to your Airbnb for?
Starting point is 00:21:19 Not just staying the night. Otherwise, I would stay in a hotel. And then some other boring ones. But it's good. It's good because I feel like, and not all Airbnb owners, and not all Bookerbatch owners, and not all Vibro owners or whatever the other one is.
Starting point is 00:21:37 They don't all do it, but some of them really take the piss. I stayed in a booker batch once, and after we left, we got a fine and a shitty email from the lady because we didn't clean the barbecue. But we didn't use the barbecue. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Oh, that's brutal. She went Karen on me. I went Kevin on her. Good job. And boff, I won. She was like, I'm so sorry. How much was the fine? $100.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Oh, yeah, that's a way. $100, yep. And she's like, I'm so sorry, I've removed the fine. And I was in real argument-winning mode. And I went, nah, I'm paying it. This isn't about. the money. I had a friend's day in an Airbnb and they had to clean the place afterwards, like
Starting point is 00:22:21 properly clean it. They said the place needs to be spotless. But on top of that, they said that the guests had to replace any cleaning products that they used. What? Isn't that insane? And I think it's those requests, those kind of rules that are the reason for the change. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:40 So you use the handy andy to clean the kitchen and then you have to go down to the store and repurchase the rules like that in place so that the owner doesn't have to hire a cleaner they're like if I get the guests I think the rules like that are in place so the owner can put another person in straight away so there's no downtime
Starting point is 00:22:57 Just go clean your house or get someone to clean your house Like that's part of the process Yeah You're the one renting this house out Also don't trust the strangers that are booking your house To clean it well enough Also you've got more than one house
Starting point is 00:23:09 True I'm just borrowing one of your houses And paying you for it I want to know this after and what did the Airbnb host require you to do? Do you remember that TikTok couple that got in trouble where they were like, you cannot move the furniture? And a table moved like a centimetre.
Starting point is 00:23:23 And they're like, no, we're finding them. No. You're not allowed to move the furniture. Wow. Yeah, crazy. 0800 dials at M, text it to 966. It was unfair. It was uncalled for.
Starting point is 00:23:34 It was frankly ridiculous. The thing that Airbnb host required you to do either while you were there or when you were checking out. It's ZAM's Brie and Clint podcast. Someone said you could just try not being a dick and clean up after yourself and treat the house like it's your own and yet of course you're respectful while you were there
Starting point is 00:23:55 but I'm not doing a full clean of someone else's house that I've paid to stay in on top of a cleaning fee as well like if you're paying for a cleaner it just seems crazy you can leave a hotel in any state you want well within reason can't you Diana has texted hi Diana
Starting point is 00:24:12 hi how's going good one of the Airbnb owner expect you to do, Diana? Well, we're a group of like, you know, girlfriends, not young, you know, mature, sensible people. Well, I hope. And they had this white cat, and then they had signs next to it saying, please do not eat or drink on the couch.
Starting point is 00:24:31 And I mean, like, we're there to enjoy ourselves and relax. Yeah. We can't have a glass of wine on the cat, sitting on the cat. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I agree. A white couch is a crazy thing to have in a rental property anyway, you know? Absolutely. Why would you just have a white house?
Starting point is 00:24:45 I always find it weird and not relaxing the Airbnbs that you go to where there's signs everywhere. Like they've put like a note on the bathroom mirror which says do not leave toothpaste on the mirror. They've put a sign on the toilet saying don't flush your tampons and all these kind of things. It's like, oh my God. It's like that episode of The Simpsons where the Simpsons family borrow Ned Flanders batch. Do you remember that? And they put labels on the ice tray. Kind of just makes you want to do it because they say don't do it.
Starting point is 00:25:12 It does, it does, doesn't it? Anyway, were you a total badass and did you have a glass of wine on the white couch? Oh, I might have. Yeah, you did. Yeah. And you paid for it. No harm, no foul. We asked what the Airbnb place asked you to do.
Starting point is 00:25:24 Someone said, my Airbnb expected me to feed the cat and feed the dog and feed the fish. That's not Airbnb. That's house sitting. That's someone paying you to come an house sit at your house. Someone said my last Airbnb experience sent multiple requirements that read more like an essay than anything else but one particular role was no food to be eaten on the carpeted areas. However, the dining room table was on a carpeted area.
Starting point is 00:25:55 The only uncovered areas were the bathroom and the actual kitchen. So, yeah, what do you do? My Airbnb turned out to be just a room in someone's house. which wasn't obvious in the listing. When I got there, they told me there was a 9pm curfew and we couldn't enter the house after that time because they had kids. What are you doing renting a room out in your house
Starting point is 00:26:23 when you've got kids? That's out the gate. I know those exist. I know that there is like, I feel like they're less common in New Zealand. Yeah. But overseas there is like, it's like a sublet thing, right? Homestay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:37 And that could be nice. That's like... Nice if you know about it. That's the B&B, but isn't it? That's the bed and breakfast, but. Do you get the breakfast? Guaranteed, though? But go and stay with a family and you have to do their house rules.
Starting point is 00:26:48 And they're like, in bed by night. But it's a Saturday. And no swear word TV shows. Less than a week before the booking, the host emailed a guidebook with extra fees and waivers that had to be signed before getting instructions to turn the water on. They were crazy. They were holding the water hostage. I'd be like, nah, I'm not doing that.
Starting point is 00:27:09 I'm going to book something else. Oh, I was going to say I'll bring my own water, but yeah, yeah, good, good point. I like your idea better, Claudia. It's ZM's Breed and Clint podcast. Please don't stop the moon. What the hell? Bree and Clint's One Second Song Challenge. No, Bree today.
Starting point is 00:27:28 So producer Grace is stepping up in the One Second Song Challenge. Are you ready for this, Grace? Absolutely not. Absolutely not. No. That is the low confidence I'm looking for in opposition. You will go head to head with me And joining you on that quest is Brianna
Starting point is 00:27:43 Hi Brianna Hi, you're with Grace Did you choose that? Yeah You did Oh yeah Yes you did You weren't chosen
Starting point is 00:27:53 Well you're gonna have to go through Mo and Melissa Hi Melissa Hi how's going Did you choose me? Absolutely Thank you One of you is lying
Starting point is 00:28:04 Claudia is in charge Claudia Sure and guys this is is the one second song challenge. The way it works is we're going to start a song from the beginning of the song. You just either buzz in with your name and tell me the name of the artist and the title of that song. The first team to three points will take home the win. What's your name again?
Starting point is 00:28:23 Grace, Clint. I was going to say Brooke or Bree. She's so consequential. You don't even know her name. Not there yet. She's not on my radar yet. She's new. Grace and Clint, you guys are going to do the first round.
Starting point is 00:28:35 Buzz in with your name if you know it. Are you ready? Ready. theme today because five seconds are summer in town. They're reclaiming the title of boy band. These are all boy bands. Oh, I'm screwed. Clint.
Starting point is 00:28:46 The Wanted, Glad you came. Well done. Make you glad you came. Do you know that song, Grace? I know it's a song, but I didn't know it from one second. That's the name of the game. Okay, one point for Team Clint, so Brianna and Melissa. You're up next.
Starting point is 00:29:07 Are you ready? Absolutely. Cool, here's your song. Come on, Melissa. Oh, Brianna. One direction. Yeah. It's the one you're thinking of.
Starting point is 00:29:24 It's that one. No. Yeah, Melissa. Do you want to steal it, Melissa? That's... One direction. Oh, man. That's...
Starting point is 00:29:37 Oh. Are you going to take it? I'm going to give it. Are you going to give it? I'm going to be really generous. Yeah. That's unfair. I'm not happy. What makes you beautiful, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:29:52 Melissa, you didn't even get 50% of it, and Claudia gave it to you. Love you, Claudia. Oh, I love you too. Love you, Claudia. I'm so nice. Okay, we have two points for Team Clint now, so Grace, you need to get this one. No pressure. Grace and Clint. This is for you.
Starting point is 00:30:09 Clint, in sync bye-bye-bye. Yeah. Bye-bye, Grace. Melissa, we did it Why, I picked you. Yeah, right? Absolutely. You knew and I knew.
Starting point is 00:30:28 50 KFC chicken dollars coming your way for the long weekends. That's epic. My son will be so stoked. I'll say. That's right, Grace, you're new. Yeah, I'm also not old, so. Could you get the next one? Grace.
Starting point is 00:30:48 Grace, yeah. Backstree boys? Yeah. I want it that way. You said you're not old and then you got the oldest one. Maybe I am old. Play ZDems, Bree and Clint. Breeze away today but our producer Grace was saying to us before the show,
Starting point is 00:31:10 you think, Grace, that you may finally, at the age of 25, possess a fully formed frontal lobe. Yes, I think for women it is 25. Yeah. But I think for men, is it 27 or 28? Well, I've actually done some research on it. You are 25. Tell me why you think your brand's fully developed. Okay, I have a couple things.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Because Clint, you're the oldest person I know. I just wanted to double check. I just wanted to double check. That's not true. You know Jono Pryor. I don't know if I know him. Nope. You are, so as the point-old...
Starting point is 00:31:40 You know Ben Boyce. Are they not younger than you? No. Whoa. Yeah, I know. Crazy, eh? Could never tell that. Yeah, it's the bleach.
Starting point is 00:31:50 Okay. Okay, number one. It's the TikToks. They keep them young. Please stop. Okay. Number one is that I'm into recycling. This is, you reckon your brain's fully into recycling?
Starting point is 00:32:01 My brain's full of recycling. Okay. Do you not care about recycling? No, I do, but I didn't know it was an indicator of. Age, yes. Okay. Number two, I'm getting into Candy Crush. Man, that's a good guy.
Starting point is 00:32:14 Okay. But I only know older ladies who play it. Me too. See what I mean? The only people I know. that are into Candy Crush, their phone doubles as a wallet, and it also has their F-POS cards and their hop card
Starting point is 00:32:26 inside it. I'm not there yet, but my frontal lobe is developing. Oh my God, I'm getting you a phone wallet for your birthday. Please don't. Number three is, guys, I don't have... A purple one. Okay, I kind of like that. Number three is, I don't have FOMO anymore. I don't have FOMO. I don't care. This is actually a big one. Really?
Starting point is 00:32:43 Because I no longer have FOMO. Well, that's not actually not true. Oh. I have less FOMO. Yeah. Yeah. Our frontal lobes developed at the same time, Clint. Mine is at 39, yours is at 25. Okay, and my last reason is, I like tea now. The only people I know who like tea. Old people.
Starting point is 00:33:00 Old people. Okay. Interesting hypothesis. I think it's correct. I have done a little bit of reading just now, and it says that the human brain reaches its structural and network maturity around the age of the early 30s, specifically around 32,
Starting point is 00:33:16 rather than stopping at 25 as widely popular. So my frontal lobe isn't developed. Maybe not. Or you're ahead of the curve. Candy Crush is telling me, I'm ahead of the curb. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What else? What are the other key indicators of what else could you be into?
Starting point is 00:33:31 Have your television viewing habits changed? I have started watching Coronation Street. Have you been watching Matt Gibbs' country house hunters? I do love the house hunting shows. Oh, no, this is the real telling sign. House hunting? Not house hunting. It's the other one.
Starting point is 00:33:46 Are you into grand designs? I have grand designs. Who doesn't love grand designs? And no one under the age of 25 isn't to grand designs. Oh, no, guys. Maybe it is. Oh, well, congratulations. What are you going to do with your new fully formed brain this weekend?
Starting point is 00:34:00 Stay in bed and do nothing. That's what we do. Exactly. Welcome to the club. ZDM's Bree and Clint Podcast. This is for anyone who is in a long-term relationship or a marriage or anyone who is not in a long-term relationship, but wants their short-term relationship to become long. How long have you and your boyfriend been together, producer grace?
Starting point is 00:34:25 Next week is our anniversary, actually, and it's six years. Wow. I know. You're only 25. I know. Where did you guys meet? We met in uni. At university.
Starting point is 00:34:35 He did radio too. How long do you give it? Until what? We break up? Yeah. The relationship. How long do we give the relationship? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:44 I feel like it's a pretty straightforward question. A while? A while? Yeah. Okay. Well, I... I've got some hacks for you that could help. I'm ready.
Starting point is 00:34:52 I saw this person post this. It's a list of relationship hacks. They were specifically even married people, but I feel like it's the same thing. Yeah. Long-term relationship. Married, it's just a bit of paper, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:04 Okay, first hack that this person's posted. If your relationship is getting a little stale, start a feud with another couple. Nothing restores solidarity like mutual enemies. Love that. Isn't it? I that is Yeah
Starting point is 00:35:19 We love a little gossip session Imagine if we're gossiping about another couple Another couple is so fun too Because you can be like Oh my God we wouldn't do that We would never It's one thing to have a mutual enemy But to have a mutual enemy couple
Starting point is 00:35:33 Is amazing to me Isn't that? Isn't that? I think it's good I like it good These are long term relationship hacks Similar to that They said
Starting point is 00:35:41 Hang out with some high conflict Super dramatic people To give you perspective and appreciation for each other and how low maintenance you guys are. I always tell Jack, I'm like, I am easy. I'm low maintenance. Are you?
Starting point is 00:35:55 Yeah? You are? Is he? He is. Because it's not always the girl that's high maintenance. It can be the boy that's high maintenance. I am a bit of a diva, but I'm like chill. You're a chill diva?
Starting point is 00:36:05 I'm a chill diva. Okay. Like I'll be like really dramatic about stuff. Yeah. I'm chill. I think me too. I think I'm a chill diva. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:12 These are relationship hacks for people in long-term relationships. It says if you and your partner, suck at making low-stakes decisions, you need to have a predetermined outcome. For example, if you can't decide on a TV show or a movie in five minutes, that's how much time you give yourself, you start a timer. If you can't decide in five minutes, boom, you're watching Shark Nato. It's a predetermined outcome.
Starting point is 00:36:36 It motivates you to push the conversation along. If you can't decide what to get for dinner, what to have for dinner, you get, I don't know, you can decide this in your own relationship, 10 minutes to make a decision on what's for dinner. And if you can't decide, boom, ice cream for dinner. I kind of like it, yeah. So it's kind of the looming threat of the thing that you want or maybe don't want that pushes the conversation along.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Smart. Smart. I got one more relationship hack for you before I want your relationship hacks. It says if your partner is telling you a super long and boring story, what you do is you pretend that you died and you asked God for five more minutes on earth with your loved ones. And this is. And this is the five minutes that he gave you.
Starting point is 00:37:20 That's ridiculous. And the five minutes is that long and boring conversation. You change your perspective. I just go, Jack, sum it up. Let's hurry this along. You go, Jack, I've got five minutes left. Five minutes left on this earth. We can spend it doing this boring conversation
Starting point is 00:37:32 or we can do it watching Shark Nato. Your choice. This conversation. Do you have, it doesn't have to be serious, but it can be, do you have a relationship hack? Do you have a thing that you think is the secret to a long and happy relationship or the thing that keeps your relationship interesting
Starting point is 00:37:50 or the thing you wish you had done that would have kept your relationship interesting. We were talking about relationship hacks before. The number of people who have messaged through to agree with the mutual enemy hack is a really good thing for you and your partner to bond over. Like it's not positive,
Starting point is 00:38:07 I guess it's not technically healthy, but it gives you a shared interest, doesn't it? I think it is a genius. You said, Grace, that you and your partner don't have a couple friend to hate. And I said, just pick one on an Instagram. Just pick a couple who put their relationship all over Instagram. And then you both follow them and then just you send each other their posts and hate from a distance. I have, I will do that tonight.
Starting point is 00:38:31 Starting tonight, I'm a hater. We asked you guys, what are the relationship hacks that you have? Someone said, if we can't decide because each person has a different choice, we paper scissors rocket. Different TV options, what to eat, no arguments. It's left up to fate. I like that. That makes it fun.
Starting point is 00:38:47 That makes it a game. Then you go, oh, damn, I guess we'll get my food next week. Although some people are annoyingly good at rock paper scissors. I'm going to say, if you're really bad at it and you lose every time, can we just do my one this time, please? If you know you're really good at rock purposes or you know your partner's really bad at it, then put that in your relationship. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:04 Relationship hacks. Someone said, my sisters are always complaining about their other halves expensive or unhealthy habits and vices. I can't relate because my partner and I are just as bad as each other and we share all the same interests. See, that's good. You met someone on your level, you know? They can't complain about the stuff that you're doing, I guess.
Starting point is 00:39:28 Relationship hack. Someone said, I believe that in my relationship, my partner has been so successful because partnership has been so successful because I've always ensured that our friendship within the relationship is strong. That and he always knows that I am right. Okay, all right, I get it. Thank you. Relationship hacks. Someone said, if you want to stop arguing over small things,
Starting point is 00:39:50 do what my partner and I did and introduce a household Supreme Court. This is fun. You each get three appeals of a decision that you don't like each year. Once they're gone, the ruling on whether we're getting the ugly curtains or another beer fridge downstairs is final.
Starting point is 00:40:05 So you put a Supreme Court in place. So funny. You get overruled. Shouldn't you be making decisions together, though? Yeah, but some things you will never agree on. Like, I never find any lamp attractive. Any what attractive? Lamp.
Starting point is 00:40:17 Like, I will never find a lamp that I like. This is boring millennial chat, but you are so right. They're so ugly. Where are all the good lamps? Just disgusting. I hate them. I don't want to be here for this chas. No, you're not grown up for this.
Starting point is 00:40:30 You're here. I'm not grown up. I'm not grown up. We're the not ugly floor lamps. Genuinely, yes. Genuinely, yes. They're in the 80s, apparently. Or they're in the mid-century.
Starting point is 00:40:40 Someone said, if you want your partner to appreciate how much you do, around the house, just stop doing it for a week. But don't announce it. That's passive-aggressive. Yeah, that's not going to go well. I love that. But then they probably, there's a risk that they don't notice. And they're like, you just start living in an absolute rat-infested hellhole.
Starting point is 00:40:59 And they're like, everything is like that meme where the guys in the house that's on fire. And it's like, this is fine. Everything is fine. Z-D's Brinclint. Still birthday banger. Brinklin. Your birthday banger Your birthday banger is the number one song on the day that you turned 16.
Starting point is 00:41:19 We figure it out and then we play the very best one that we can find each afternoon in full. We'll go to Emmeline first. Am I saying it right, Emmeline? It's Emmeline. Emilyne. Sorry, my bad. I've not heard that name before. Welcome to the show.
Starting point is 00:41:34 How is your long weekend shaping up? What are you going to do? Good. We're going to ride our horses. Oh, yes. Cool. Let's do your birthday banger and see if that can launch you into the long weekend. What's your date of birth, Emmeline?
Starting point is 00:41:47 It's for my mum. Oh, your mum's one. Yeah. What's mum's name? I'm Charlotte. Okay, what's Charlotte your mom's date of birth? 9th of January, 1993. 1980.
Starting point is 00:42:00 1983, sorry. Good way, Emily. Mum, Charlotte's birthday was, 16th birthday was in 1999, and on the 9th of January, this was number one. For a white guy. What do you reckon, Emma Lyon? Have you heard the offspring pretty fly for a white guy? No. Does your mum know it?
Starting point is 00:42:26 You know it? It should be average. It's just been average. All right, noted. Wait there. We'll do a birthday banger for Kelly. Where's Kelly at? There you are.
Starting point is 00:42:36 Hi, Kelly. Hi, guys. How's your long weekend shaping up? It's fantastic. and I've been listening to you guys all day. Oh, good. Friday jams all day. Are you going away or are you going to stay at home for the long weekends? I'm going to enjoy the sun in Christchurch.
Starting point is 00:42:51 And by the way, long-time listener, first-time caller. Hell yeah. What an incredible weekend to be in Christchurch too. Cricket, league, rugby, sun. Yeah, there's a lot going on. There's a lot going on. Let's do your birthday banger. What's your date of birth?
Starting point is 00:43:11 28th of October, 1983. Another 83, baby. You were 16 and 99 as well, but on the 28th of October, and on that date, this was number one. Lou Baga. Mumbo number five. What do you think, Kelly? I put a bad song. It's not bad. Not a bad song. Okay, okay, we're yet to uncover the 1999 gem that everyone's hoping for.
Starting point is 00:43:42 We'll do Blake's birthday banger. Hey, team. How are you doing? I'm great, and happy long weekends, everybody. Happy long weekend. Don't we bloody deserve one? It's that time of year, right? Everyone's like, oh, can the year just be over?
Starting point is 00:43:55 So we get a little weekend to tease us out towards the end. What's your date of birth, Blake? Let's do your birthday banger? 12th of July, 1984. 84 this time. All right, that means you were 16 in 2000. And on the 12th of July, this was the number one song. From the Spice Girls, Mel C, never be the same again.
Starting point is 00:44:19 What do you think, Blake? at the end for an absolute classic. All right. I think Mumbo number five is going to take a lot of beating. I tend to agree with you, Blake. I'm just going to go to the panel briefly. Thoughts and feelings, producer Claudia? I'd be happy with any of them.
Starting point is 00:44:37 I'm going to... Yeah, I'd be happy. Monica in my life. Producer Grace, Mamba number five. Another woman's name, but my son. I'm in. A little bit of women's what I need. A little bit of other women's what I need.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Kelly, you won birthday banger. Woo-ho! You're a great long weekend. Spring Clint. Thanks, guys. One, two, three, four, five. Everybody in the car show, come on last ride. Z&M's Brean and Clinch, podcast.
Starting point is 00:45:09 The winner of birthday bangers today on ZDM. For Kelly is Lou Baga. And mumbo number five. Bumbo number five. Two Lou Bega stats for you guys. I saw this video that this couple put up where they were shocked to find out how old Lou Bega was when he released Mumbo number 5. When you listen to that man's voice, how old is he?
Starting point is 00:45:33 He sounds like a grown-up. Yeah. Like a 40. 40? Yeah. I was thinking 50. 50. 50.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Lou Bega in that song is 24. What? Yes. 24. What? Lou Bega. Me singing then. That's a grown-ass man.
Starting point is 00:45:47 Also, how many women do you think he names in that song? Total. Ballpark 12 I was thinking 17 17 There's only nine women It feels like He's naming an entire rugby team
Starting point is 00:46:01 Can we name it Monica Monica Jessica Yes Tina Tina Sandra Sandra
Starting point is 00:46:07 Mary Yeah That's five You Angela Pamela Erica Yeah Monica
Starting point is 00:46:14 Monica Monica Monica I wish my name was in that Happy Lou Bega to those who celebrate. The ZM Podcast Network. Hands up, who's got phone addiction.
Starting point is 00:46:26 Me, me, I've got phone addiction. I'm not ready to admit it. Me, me, me. Grace has phone addiction, but the hard bit with you is your job is phone. So you get to mask your addiction. It's like a bartender who gets to mask their alcoholism because they're like, it's work.
Starting point is 00:46:41 You know? I'm a phone alcoholic, but it's okay. You're a phone alcoholic, yeah. But it's my job. I'm a phone alcoholic. I'm drunk behind the phone. And I'm okay to identify. admit it. I feel like that's the first stage of recovery. But I've only ever made it to the first
Starting point is 00:46:55 stage. I've never broken my phone addiction. I went looking for a dumb phone recently for the weekends and you go into J.B. Hi-Fi and you're like, I need to see your dumb phones. And they're like, I need a phone that just does texting and calling. And they look at you like you're a drug dealer. Because that's who buys the dumb phones. And they're like, okay. Okay, budd man. So, haven't done it. Haven't been able to find a good one. Because also, I need the Uber. So you need call, text, Uber. Did you know you can phone an Uber now? What?
Starting point is 00:47:26 Yeah, they've got an Uber phone number for people who are not tech savvy. So you can ring it and they will send an Uber to where you are, which will piss taxi drivers off so much because that is taxi. How do you pay for Uber phone? You can pay with cash or credit card. That's just taxi. That's taxi. They've reinvented taxi.
Starting point is 00:47:47 They're like, guys, you cancelled taxi only to re-e launch taxi. But it's different. Why? How? Because it's Uber. Yeah, right. Anyway, this new phone addiction app that I was telling you about, it's called Brain Pal.
Starting point is 00:48:04 I'm going to play you this clip of how it works. Have a listen. This app counts every single reel I watch. Every reel, the number goes up. Works on Reels and YouTube shorts. Stats like a fitness app. When that number's staring at you, closing the app gets so much easier. The more you scroll, the more your brain rots.
Starting point is 00:48:22 It's a little box that sits at the top of your screen and the number goes up. Every time you scroll, the number goes up. Annoying that they haven't included TikTok, but let's forget that for a second and assume that it does. Do you know what my key issue with it is? I think I have the same issue.
Starting point is 00:48:38 My brain would turn it into a competition. Exactly. My brain would go, can we get a personal best today? Let's get 10K baby! Yesterday we did 250 reels before Brex. Can we crack three hindi? That's exactly the problem, yeah. Which is so bad.
Starting point is 00:48:54 It's so bad. It's confronting. Because you scroll through them so fast, you won't even know how many you've seen. Have you ever tried to find one by going into a view history? It's horrific. I don't even remember seeing that. But also, I would be pissed off at that counter if it was counting reels that I didn't like. You know, when you sit yourself that brain thing and you go, okay, I'm going to give myself
Starting point is 00:49:15 10 more swipes. Yeah. 10 more reels. And then you get one, you're like, oh, that one was an ad. doesn't count. Yeah. And then you get one, you're like, I didn't like that one, that one doesn't count. And you're doing all these negotiations with yourself.
Starting point is 00:49:25 If that app was counting like that shit, I'd be like, ah, ah, ah, ah, I want that one back. The one that you leave on repeat when you're on the toilet, does it count that one? You know what this is? This is addict conversation right here. This is like, but if I have a water in between my Instagram reels. Oh, God, it is. They need to like have something like, there's a tree. And every time you swipe, they slowly kill the tree.
Starting point is 00:49:47 Yeah. Like something like that. Because I don't want the... I don't want the truth. Like, I don't want to kill my digital path. Someone said you can turn your phone into a dumb phone with an app. Yes, you can. Yeah, you can.
Starting point is 00:49:57 But you can also turn that app off. This is what I did when I put my screen time on TikTok. It goes, your time's up. Do you want 15 more minutes? And I go, yeah. I put that on two and I went, give me the day. Every day I go, give me the day. So, anyway, any better tips than that.
Starting point is 00:50:14 People are like, my wife's like, you could just put your phone in the drawer. No. That's boring. That's a dumbest thing you've ever seen. said. You put my phone in the drawer. You get in the drawer. She's like, we're all worried about you. The children are worried about you. I'm Lady Gaga and, well, telephone, goddammer.
Starting point is 00:50:32 Hello, baby, you called, I can't hear a thing. Play ZIM's Bree and Clint on Insta, Facebook, TikTok, and live weekdays from three on ZDM.
