Starting point is 00:00:18 I do love... Do love a short week. Oh, we love a short week. Short King week. Oh, yeah. Shout out to all the short kings. This is your week. Hell, you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 Yeah, this week is dedicated to you guys. We've got a good show on the way for you guys today. At some point during the show today, Claudia is going to let off an activator. Not too different to that. And if you get through 100 dollars at in when you hear it, you're in the draw for a trip to Rickerton races. No matter where you are in the country, we'll send you to Christchurch. We'll pull you up for the night, get you along to the races,
Starting point is 00:00:56 and give you $500 cash towards your races. outfit. That is a ripping prize. So listen out for that sound effect. You know fun fact that is me doing that sound effect? Yeah. I'm that good. She is that good, yeah. She's fun to ride too.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Has her lunch out of a bag, strapped through her face. Call me beauty. Yeah. Like her tail-braided. So that'll happen. I'll give you a clue that's going to happen before 4 o'clock as well if you're keen to get to the Rickard and races on ZM. We're going to kick off the show, though, with Trady versus Lady.
Starting point is 00:01:37 Trady's on 93, ladies on 85, but 50 bucks is up for grabs. That's all you need to know. 0,800 dials at M right now. Give a hear-out for Harry's hotline too. We will play a Harry Stiles song before 4. That'll get in the jaw to go over to Strayer and see him for free. It's all happening, isn't it? All bloody happening right here on ZM.
Starting point is 00:01:56 On CDM, is not? Play ZDM's brilliant cland. Tradey versus lady. Here we go. We got the tradies lined up. We got the ladies. They'll go head to head. The Trades on 93 wins for the year.
Starting point is 00:02:14 The lady's on 85. Her lady is in Christchurch. She's 23 and she's never broken a bone. I always feel like people when they say that attempting fate. Welcome to the show, Kirsten. Hi Kirsten. Hello. If you could pick a bone to break, which one would you pick?
Starting point is 00:02:29 Probably my arm. Really? What? Why? Because then I don't have to use it I can just... People have to wait on you hand and foot. Arms sounds so painful.
Starting point is 00:02:41 I would have said like... Pinky toe? Yeah. Would have been... Well, then you can't walk. Nah, you can walk if you got a broken pinky toe. Can you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Sure. 966. Have you broken a good bone? What's your favourite bone you've broken? Kirsten, you're taking on our tradie from Auckland. He's 37 and he can speak Spanish backwards. Welcome to the show, Neil. Gide, Neil. We're going to need to hear a bit of that.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Hello, I'm Ojan, Neil, and Atsukkratrixe, Zedem. And what did you just say there, Neil? Something about Zem? I said, yeah, hi, my name is Neil, and I like to listen to Zem. Whoa! But what part was it backwards? Everything except my name and Zedem. All of the words were backwards.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Yeah. Okay, that is incredible, Neil. That was very impressive. It's always good to have a party trick that no one can check whether you're telling the truth or not. We just have to take your word for it. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Okay, Neil, your buzzer is Trady.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Kirsten, lady, first of three correct dancers. 50 bucks cash from KFC. Here we go, guys. Best to like. Question number one. In 2024, the Brat album was released by which artist? Trudy? Yes, Neil.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Metallica? No. It was... Charlie X-E-X-E-X. It is Charlie X-E-X. Well done. I think Neil heard black album. Oh, that might be my accent.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Apologies, Neil. I'll speak backwards. I'll speak backwards so you can understand me. Question number two. What day did we celebrate yesterday with a day off work? Yes, Kirsten. Labor Day. She's on a roll here.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Two to the ladies. You need this one, Neil, to stay in at. Question number three. Buzz in when you can tell me. who sings this. Oh no, Kirsten for the clean sweep. One direction. She's got it.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Sometimes the chips just fall your way. And Kirsten, they fell your way today. Well done, 50 bucks. Awesome. Thank you guys. Neil, our backward Spaniard. We appreciate you playing better luck next time, okay? Oh, good.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Cheers, guys. Oh, good. Ladies needed it. Okay, just... He sounded like... What? Good looking. Don't you reckon?
Starting point is 00:05:05 Neil, are you good looking? I wouldn't say so. He's humble too. He's humble. I bet he's doing backwards language. I bet that means he is good looking. I saw this interesting article talking about dirty household items, which you know me at the tippity top of my list,
Starting point is 00:05:28 dirtiest household item? T-tow. Yeah. Or the dishcloth. T-tale phobic. I can't. I can't be around him. I think they're so yuck.
Starting point is 00:05:38 For me, it's the grossest. Everyone's got their thing. Well, there is a study that has been done at the University of Arizona, which they said could give that a run for its money. Not only have they said it could be dirtier than your tea towel. It could be and have more bacteria per square inch than a bathroom sink. Okay. A bathroom sink's notoriously dirty.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Yeah. You're spitting. and bloody washing your face. Unlike you, I clean mine. I clean my sink, thank you very much. Unlike you, I wash my teetails. We wash our teatails now. I wash my teetails like every two days.
Starting point is 00:06:20 It's trauma from my childhood, okay? And we all know. All right, Bree, what's the item? What do you think? Toilet brush. Oh, well, that's an obvious one. Not that? No.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Wow, dirty than the toilet brush. No, I'm not saying it's dirtier than the toilet brush. It's an item that I don't know if you'd think it was this dirty. Main pillow. Oh, that'd be pretty dirty. The one you drool on. Yeah. Are you a drooler?
Starting point is 00:06:44 Big time. No. It is your hairbrush. Oh. And according to this study, they said you should be replacing your hairbrush every six months. No way. No way. That's what they're saying.
Starting point is 00:07:04 We got some audio. of some people answering the question about how often they change their hairbrush, take a listen. How often do you change your hairbrush? Once every six months. I don't even remember the last time I've done that. This one can be dated between 2011 and 2013, I believe. Okay, so you use your wife?
Starting point is 00:07:24 Yeah, sometimes. Okay, and how often do you replace their hairbrush? Not very often, I think. Yeah, nah. I would say replace... Oh, I'm not replacing my hairbrush. I'm not replacing my hairbrush, ever. Ever?
Starting point is 00:07:36 Unless the bristles, unless the teeth start falling out. If it starts scratching you? Unless they lose those little plastic balls off the ends of the wire sticks. Or you lose it. It's the only time that I'm replacing my hairbrush. Or I get nuts.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Yeah, even then I'd probably give it a wash. Even then, checking the dishwasher. I feel like a hairbrush. You know, you work hard on finding one that suits you. Are we gross though? Can we just check with the produce? is Claudia, how often do you change your hairbrush? Oh, you're going to say, I can tell.
Starting point is 00:08:07 I don't own a hairbrush. Oh, you don't own a hairbrush? I've got to told you that. I've got to told you that. Grace, you've got a curly mop. You must have a hairbrush. I have a specific, like, boogie curly girl hairbrush. I'm not replacing that.
Starting point is 00:08:22 That was expensive. Yeah. Yeah, I run like, this is a weird fact about me. I reckon I've got like five hair brushes that I run at one time. Yeah, but do they do different things? Yeah. Nah, they're all just so. He's like having one in each room like a phone charger.
Starting point is 00:08:39 We want to talk to people this afternoon. What do you want to do? Do you want to find people who change it regularly? Or do you want to try and find New Zealand's oldest hairbrush? That's what I want to find. New Zealand's oldest hairbrush. How old do you think your hairbrush is? That's what we're on the hunt for this afternoon.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Did you inherit Nan's hairbrush when she died? And she had one of those nice metal ones that had like, you know, and they got the detail on the back? You're not throwing that out. No. Are you? You got to keep that. Nan bought that over on the Titanic.
Starting point is 00:09:04 What are you replacing that every six months? I don't think so. Oh, 100 dollars at em or Texas on 9-6-9-6. Nan bought it over on the Titanic. I don't think so. She did. Wouldn't be here. Be at the bottom of the ocean.
Starting point is 00:09:16 Not everyone died on the Titanic. What do you think Nan as the ship's going down goes, no, I need to go back from my hairbrush. Oh, wait a minute. That's how much she hated replacing her hairbrush. She swam back for it. Now we know why Jack couldn't fit on the big door. Nair's hairbrush.
Starting point is 00:09:33 N's like, no, you're not putting that in the water. Contact us now if you think you've got New Zealand's oldest hairbrush. This is always, I find fascinating. Do you own a hairbrush or do you just use your wife's? No, I've got a hairbrush. You got one? Well, what happens when I go away? I'm going to take my wife's hairbrush.
Starting point is 00:09:50 She would kill me. But a lot of men don't own a hairbrush. Yeah, well, hashtag not all men, okay? Some of us have got her own hairbrush. My mom and dad, who've just been visiting recently, it's the opposite for them. Your dad's got the hairbrush. Yeah, and my mum uses his. No disrespect to Big Steve.
Starting point is 00:10:07 He hasn't got that much hair. Yeah, but what he does, he looks after it. Fantastically brushed, I'll say. So we're trying to find New Zealand's oldest hairbrush. Olivia, how long have you had your hairbrush for? I've had it about 16 years. Olivia. No, that's fine.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Do you know the brand of it or is that being worn off the handle? I don't think it ever had a brand on it. It's probably one of this $2 shop one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Amazing. Still doing the job? Yeah, best hairbrush of you. Yeah, why would you get rid of it?
Starting point is 00:10:40 You better look out, Olivia, because the museum will be calling to put it up as an exposition. Teapapa won Olivia's hairbrush. Amanda's here. Hi, Amanda. Hi, Amanda. Hi. How long you had your hairbrush for Amanda?
Starting point is 00:10:52 We're looking for New Zealand's oldest hairbrush. It's a bit embarrassing, but I was just talking to my daughter. I think I've had it since I was about 10, and I'm about to turn 43. Wow. So do the math. That's over 30 years. But their hairbrush has been with you through all of life stages.
Starting point is 00:11:11 It's been with you as a teenager. All of the life stages. It's been with you as a single girlie. It's been with you as a newlywed, as a new mom. No one knows you better than that hairbrush. Can you describe to us what kind of neck is it in? Is it in good neck still? It's in really good nick.
Starting point is 00:11:25 And it's such a good hairbrush that I even, when my own children, I've got reasonably thick here, and they have even thicker hair. And I even researched it and found it, and now they have the same hairbrace. I've got three of them, and even our dog has one. The dog's got one too. Passed down from generation to generation. Yes, they've all got the new ones. But mine's still the OG.
Starting point is 00:11:51 Give us it a shout out. Yeah, what brand is it? It's that mitre, mitre. And it's a ball brush. Eater, I'm going to look into it. Yeah. I'm going to definitely look into it. Thanks, Amanda.
Starting point is 00:12:05 All good. So I've got even the dogs, got one. Yeah. It's like, you know, my household, we're a Tangle Taser family. Even the dogs? Even the dogs. You know, it's the only brush my dog, Whitney Houston, will let us brush her with, is the Tangle Taser. My kids use a brush that I had as a kid 35 years ago.
Starting point is 00:12:24 My grandma gave me her brush from 1984. That's ridiculous. I inherited my dad's hairbrush. He probably had it in the 80s and used it every day. He used it to brush my hair when I was little too. See, that's nice. Someone said my dad's got the same orange one since before I was born and I'm 38. People are saying throwing out your hairbrush is crazy.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Soak it in some tea tree oil and hot water. It'll last for ages. Yeah, nothing wrong with it. Do we need to get in some of that blue juice that the hairdressers have got? You know the blue juice and they lift it up? What does the blue juice do? I always thought that was diesel that they were putting it in. Disinfecting, I think.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Yeah. Yeah. Oh, that makes sense. Diesel. Someone said my hair, well, it would disinfect it, wouldn't it? I don't know. I feel like it would dissolve your hair. Someone said, my hairbrush is at least 13 years old.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Someone said, I don't use it, but I have an old wooden hairbrush from my grandfather who died before I was born. And I think it's like 60-ish years old, given he would have been 98 or something. something this year if he was still alive and he had it in his 30s. He whittled it from a sycamore tree. He said, they said it's a useless hairbrush so I can't use it. But I have it on a shelf somewhere. All right, thanks guys.
Starting point is 00:13:42 ZD.N's Brankland. Breaking news, Jay Z's just announced himself as the halftime show for the Super Bowl. What? Yeah, he's in charge of picking the artist that does a Super Bowl halftime show. Wait, is he? I didn't know that. It's Rock Nation. It's his music label that.
Starting point is 00:13:57 the artist. He picked Rihanna. He picked Kendrick. I think he put together the Eminem Dr. Dre Snoop Dog performance as well. And I think he's like, well, there's no one left. I guess I will pick myself. That will be incredible. Jay Z is the halftime show.
Starting point is 00:14:14 So that's big news. Do you reckon he will bring up Beyonce? Yes. Surely. Yeah, and Rihanna. You reckon both? Yeah. That'll be epic.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Also, by the way, Claudia's going to let the horses loose soon. and you can win yourself a trip to ricketing. You can get in the drawer for a trip to ricket and flights accommodation, money for your outfit too. That's going to go off before for. Right now, though, this is a huge story that is unfolding. If you watch the Netflix TV show, the DCC, about the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders,
Starting point is 00:14:45 well, this is going to interest you big time because according to reports, the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders have officially unionized. Okay. First group of cheerleaders in the NFL to do so. What does it mean? Well, a bit of background about the DCC is, I believe the Netflix show came out a couple of years ago. And in the first season, one of the interesting parts and one of the clips that really angered people was Charlotte Jones, who is the daughter of Robert Kraft, who owns the Cowboys.
Starting point is 00:15:26 Stadium. I owns the Cowboys as well. No, yeah. Anyway, she's the daughter of the owner. I can't remember if it's connected. I feel like they are. Anyway, she made, she was talking about why the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders don't get paid very much in the first season. And we've got the clip here of what she said. There's a lot of cynicism around pay for NFL cheerleaders. They're not paying a lot. But the facts are is that they actually don't come here for the money. They come here for something that's actually bigger than that to them. They have a passion for dance.
Starting point is 00:16:03 There are not a lot of opportunities in the field of dance to get to perform at an elite level. It is about being a part of something bigger than themselves. They have a chance to feel like they're valued, that they're special, and that they are making the difference. And we exploit that by paying them jack shit. And so since that, it's created a lot of talk around how much these women get paid to do what they do. And... They're huge stars in their own right. The brand, the DCC, is a huge brand for the Dallas Cowboys.
Starting point is 00:16:41 And they make millions of dollars for that company. And so in the last season, there was talk of where a lot of the girls were like, we need to be paid more. I looked into how much they have been paid over the years. So when the first season kind of went to air, the NFL cheerleaders like the Dallas Cowboys were getting paid around $150 per game. When? This was back when the first season...
Starting point is 00:17:07 Of the TV show? Yes. Right. So recently. So recently. Recently. Recently. I'm saying like not the 1980s. No.
Starting point is 00:17:14 $150. So one of the girls in the first season talks about how she made probably on average. around $22,000 per year. Jeez, as a full-time job? Well, they all have other jobs because they can't support themselves. Anyway, so what this means is that they are going to have a seat at the table where they can essentially, you know, bargain for better, better situation for the whole cheerleading group for the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders.
Starting point is 00:17:45 So some of the things that they will be discussing is obviously, better pay. Medical treatment, which I believe the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders don't really get that support. Which is crazy because you have a team doctor. Like, just get them into see the physio. Yeah, okay. Yeah. They'll also be, I think, I think just a better overall situation for all the cheerleaders, more support for them and better pay. But it'll be interesting because they reckon after this, all the other teams in the NFL are going to do. the same. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:18:21 The cheerleading teams. There'll be a domino effect. Yeah. Oh, there you go. That's good news. Yeah, it's great news. Fascinating. Is that TV show worth watching?
Starting point is 00:18:28 I'd give it a watch. The Cowboys document, the Cowboys cheerleader documentary on Netflix. It'll make you angry in some ways, but it's fascinating. Dead Am's Bree and Clint podcast. The Tea, live from L.A. with Dean McCarthy. Big celebrity breakup today. Who is it, Dean? Who are the stars who nobody saw coming, but they've split?
Starting point is 00:18:50 They've split. Chris Shell, one of the stars of selling sunset, has split from G Flip. Now, the two have been together for four years. They married. Chrisel really became almost like an adopted Aussie. You know, G Flip is enormous in Australia. They have split. Chrisel went on social media today and looked a very genuine heartfelt video message explaining to fans that they have split. Something I noticed in the video, though, was Chrisel almost seemed like she didn't have all, she said, actually, her words were, I don't have all the information.
Starting point is 00:19:25 It's trying to make me go. It's giving, it's giving, it's giving that G flip broke up with Creschelle is what it's giving. Absolutely. Yeah. Interesting. Absolutely. It's giving that. We've got a little snippet of the video here.
Starting point is 00:19:36 Should we take a quick listen? Yeah, let's take a listen. Yeah, yeah. I have a pretty humbling update to share with you guys. Gee and I are no longer together. And we have agreed to treat this public separation with. love and respect for each other. That's not hard for me because I am in love with this person.
Starting point is 00:19:57 You guys are so right. It sounds like she's been dumped. I, God, I'd love to know what happened. Do you know, Dean? Because if you don't know, Dean's in Los Angeles where they filmed Selling Sunset. You know some of the cast of Selling Sunset. Is there any inside goss on this, Dean, that you can give us?
Starting point is 00:20:14 I don't have any inside g-goss on this, but I will say, I interviewed G-Flipp in Melbourne at the big NFL game recently, and I could tell G Flip was something was different. Really? When I saw the video today, I was like, yeah, could have called it. I don't know why, but Gflict did not seem like themselves. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Poor Griselle. It's Grishell's first, first queer relationship. And it's real hard to get over the first one. Yeah. Like, you know, like it's like going back to dating and your first love again. Also, I didn't realize they were married. I don't know if it was like illegal, but they got married, inverted commas.
Starting point is 00:20:58 I don't know how the LGBT stuff works. I thought... No, no, it's legal now. Yeah, Dean, it's so confusing, A, D. The LGBT and the T's can get married. Dean and I don't know what you women are up to, honestly. You get two of you together, all the rules go out the window.
Starting point is 00:21:14 Trust me, you don't want to know half of it. You don't know. You don't either. Am I right, Dean? That's the T. I'm so right, you've never been more right on earth. That's the T with Dean McCarty.
Starting point is 00:21:26 He's our Hollywood correspondent. The ZDM Podcast Network. Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Empire State of Mind. He's just been announced as the Super Bowl halftime show. I said before that he's picked himself because Rock Nation produces the halftime show. Not 100% true. I'm just reading the article about it on Variety.
Starting point is 00:21:47 The CEO of the NFL or whatever, when they did the deal with Rock Nation, one of the details was, one of the caveats was that Jay-Z would do one of them. That's what the NFL wanted. Also they say. They're like, hey, if we're going to do this huge deal that benefits your company, we need you.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Correct, yeah. Anyway, another victory for people who hate new music. Jay-Z will be doing the Super Bowl halftime show. Chapel Rhone? Nah. New music. Olivia Rodriguez. Get in the pen.
Starting point is 00:22:23 People from this generation. Sabrina Carbidup. I love Jay-Z, by the way. But that's very funny. Hey, a bit of royal news for you, and not the boring kind, don't worry. Can I get a bit of a little bit of fanfare? A little bit of...
Starting point is 00:22:39 Hell yes. I love some royal news, darling. Future King of England, Prince William has gone on the Graham Norton show, which is a weird sentence in itself, isn't it? Him and, I'm not a huge royalist, but him and Catherine are doing a lot to be modern, you know? Yeah, right. I wouldn't be surprised if they launch a podcast shortly.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Imagine. I wouldn't. Imagine if they become, like, influences. Prince William was on the couch on the Graham Norton show alongside Robert Irwin and some other people. And they talked about, Graham Norton said, if you weren't going to be king. what job do you think you would have grown up to have? And it's weird to think that someone like Prince William ever thought he would have a job
Starting point is 00:23:26 other than being king? He would never have had a real job. Here's what a young Prince William thought he might grow up to be. I did want to be a police when I was younger and then I went through a phase where I wanted to be a DJ which didn't go very well. I came up with a name. I was called DJ Zara with an ex.
Starting point is 00:23:44 It wasn't good. DJ Zara? With an ex. That's Robert. Where's the other? He entered the front, Zara. When he became very uncool. Did you DJ at school parties?
Starting point is 00:23:55 No, I didn't. I never got that good. Oh, okay. Uh, DJ, what a loser. The name sucks. He's clearly, you should have been DJ Willie. Or DJ King Willie. Or DJ...
Starting point is 00:24:08 DJ 6 inch. DJ... What? What? What? Oh, Willie. Yeah. Oh.
Starting point is 00:24:16 What do... Your is weird. What? DJ, no, I'm not going to say it. It's funny, though, the job you think you'll have and the job you end up having. Do you remember the job that you thought you would grow up to have? Like me personally.
Starting point is 00:24:30 I always wanted to be a professional sportswoman. Did you? And if not that, then I wanted to be a vet or a PE teacher. And here you are. So I had a few options. Yeah, you did. And I ended up here. She failed on multiple friends.
Starting point is 00:24:46 Failed multiple times. Me too. I thought I'd be a lawyer. And now I'm a radio clown. So it's quite a chasm. Yeah. But you don't know. You just don't know how your life is going to pan out, do you?
Starting point is 00:25:00 No, you really don't. Producer Claudia, do you remember what you thought you would be? Stripper, wasn't it? Yeah, yeah, it was actually. No, if I couldn't be rich for free, I think it was going to be a vet. Rich for free is such a good job. Rich for dream. And then vet.
Starting point is 00:25:13 And yet, unfortunately, you grew up to be New Zealand's greatest radio producer. Oh, thanks. I've been re-talked over that, no, I can't get that audio for later. Damn it. Oh, well. She's saying again? Producer Grace, what did you want to be? I want to be a professional ballerina.
Starting point is 00:25:27 Oh, yeah? Yeah, because you're a dancer back in the day. But you're so young, there's still time. No, but I grew up. I'm now 5-2, 80-Ks. I don't think I've ever meant to be a professional ballerina. A ballerina's tall? No, I think, I actually don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Probably above 5-2. Yeah, right. Yeah. Well, on the tippy toes. Yeah, they're all. Yeah, I mean, how many, you gain. You're 5'3 and you tipitos, aren't you? So it's okay if I'm only tipitos.
Starting point is 00:25:53 I can be a professional ballerina. You gain like 30 centimetres. We want to know what's the gap between what you thought you would be and what you ended up being. You call us, you tell us the job you thought you would grow up to have. And what you actually ended up doing. And what you actually are. It's ZDM's Bree and Clint podcast.
Starting point is 00:26:12 We're talking about how when you're a kid, you have absolutely no idea. what you were going to grow up to be. Not a clue. You know what you'd like to be some of the time? And often it's astronaut. And people are like, uh-huh. Sure.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Yeah, you could be an astronaut. You could be an astronaut. Unlikely, but possible. Or you could work at warehouse stationery. You don't know what is going to happen in your life. Who knows? Even Prince William said he wanted to be a DJ, even though he was always going to be the King of England.
Starting point is 00:26:44 So we asked you guys, what did you think he were going to be growing up? And what did you grow up to be? Someone texts through and they said, I wanted to be a hairdresser. Now I'm a geologist. So they study rocks. Okay. From hair to rocks.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Soil. I was convinced I was going to be a brain surgeon. Now I'm in accounting. You're a book surgeon. Yeah. It's similar. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:10 I thought I was going to be a chef. I became a dairy farmer. However, I am working at the airport in aviation. Wait, what? That went all over the place. Someone said, I wanted to be an actress. Now I'm a drama teacher. I mean, not crazy.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Actress of drama teacher. No, that's in the realm. That's in the same realm. Yeah, yeah, that's in the world. Some would say that the classroom is their stage. Some would say you are creating the actors and actresses of the future. I wanted to be a midwife and now I'm a dairy farmer. At least I get to deliver calves.
Starting point is 00:27:44 You are a midwife of sorts. Yeah. cow midwife. Someone said, anonymous, please. I was adamant. Absolutely adamant. I was going to be the pink power ranger. I'm now a teacher.
Starting point is 00:28:01 I love that. I love that. Because I can sense how deeply they believed they were going to be the pink power ranger. I know someone who was the pink power ranger. Oh, don't say that. You make it worse for that person. Because now you're saying that it's possible.
Starting point is 00:28:15 Kim Crossman was the pink power. Oh, was she there. red. She was a Power Ranger. She was a Power Ranger full stop. That sucks because this person would have reconciled it and gone. Well, at least I know it wasn't even possible to be a Power Ranger. And now you're saying, you know a Power Ranger. All I'm saying, it's never too late. You know, you never know when you might get the call up. I grew up wanting to be a midwife as well. I ended up as a compliance manager in a red meat company. God. Yeah. What did they want to be? A midwife. Oh. There's still time. There is still time. Someone said I wanted to be a rally card.
Starting point is 00:28:47 driver, but I am now a HR manager. I still drive like I'm a rally car driver, even more so with road rage. Yeah, just drive really fast to work. I wanted to be a jockey. I'm a payroll manager. Yeah. Someone else said, I only ever wanted to be a stay-at-home mom with a stupidly wealthy husband.
Starting point is 00:29:08 Now I work in early childhood where some of these kids have more money than I do. I wanted to be a mortuary. Pottery cosmetologist. Wow. So that's someone who like puts makeup on... Dead people, yeah. At the morgue.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Wow. Wow. What a thing to want to grow up to be. How did you even know that job existed as a kid? I reckon they, their parents watched that show six feet under. Do you remember that? No. I wanted to be a mortuary cosmetologist. I work with children instead.
Starting point is 00:29:42 From dead people to children. Yeah. Someone said, I wanted to be a priest. school teacher. I ended up being in civil engineering. So I just ended up teaching children disguised as adults. That's so, can I say,
Starting point is 00:29:58 you must be so smart because you need to be any kind of engineering like to just fall into it. Yeah, you say that because we don't know what engineering is. Yeah, my brother's an engineer. Couldn't tell you what he does. My brother-in-law's an engineer. I don't know what he does. No idea what he does. I wanted to be
Starting point is 00:30:13 the son of a billionaire, but instead my bank account has one of those little lines in front of the number. Someone said, that's very good. Someone said, I wanted to be a model, but I grew up to be a minger.
Starting point is 00:30:27 Oh. You're a professional minger. I don't know you could get paid to ming. I thought you were looking at me when you said that. I said, pardon you. I don't know you could forge a career out of mingin.
Starting point is 00:30:40 We're going to be rich, Bree. Oh, we're going to be rolling in it. Side hustle. I wanted to be a pilot. I'm an IT, I want to be a marine biologist, I'm an administrator. Oh, these are depressing. Yeah, did anyone want to be...
Starting point is 00:30:54 I wouldn't be a radio DJ, but I'm a nurse instead. Hmm. I mean, nurse, great job. We don't work as hard as nurses. No, and we get paid more, which is BS for talking crap. Absolute BS. Yeah? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Right, okay, thanks guys. Oh, Olivia does remixes now. Good time to play the song, I think. Yeah, it wasn't as uplifting as I'd hoped. Nah. It's ZM's Brie and Clint podcast. Brie and Clint's classical. First, though, let's get classical, shall we, Bree?
Starting point is 00:31:30 Yes, let's take up this show's fanciness. A not. Let's. Let's. Claudia. Nice monocle. Yeah. Nice monocle that you've got.
Starting point is 00:31:43 Lovely top hat, Brie. Thank you. Claudia is wearing a tuxedo. with tales. This is just my regular Tuesday, I'm. Yes. Is that a three-epete? Got a cumabund.
Starting point is 00:31:55 You've got to be part of me? You what? Let's just play this game. What happened? Don't worry about it. Buy her a drink first. Yeah, okay, yeah, you guys know how this game works, but it's called Let's Get Classical. These are pop songs reimagined in a classical style.
Starting point is 00:32:12 Claudia's flustered. No, no, I'm chilling. But she's fancy. So fancy. fun so. Buzz up with your name. I need the song title and the name of the artist. Are you ready to go?
Starting point is 00:32:22 Ready. It's your first song. Clint. Ciena Spire and Material Lover. Well, does. That was hard because I knew Brie was about to get it too. I was close.
Starting point is 00:32:44 Yeah. But not as quick as you. Yeah, one point for Clint. It's a good song. Okay, here's another one. Clint, Clint, Clint. Fade of Ophelia, Taylor Swift. Oh, fun.
Starting point is 00:33:15 It's depleting. I knew the tune. It was right there in my brain, but she couldn't get there. She burst her cummer bun. Come a bun. Come a bun all over myself. But you're still fancy. Still fancy.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Come on my bun. Well, congratulations me. Thank you, everybody. Congratulations. Thank you. Congratulations. Thank you. And to you.
Starting point is 00:33:46 And to me. And also to you. And also with you, lift them up to the Lord. It is right to give thanks and praise to me. Play Z-Dames, Bree and Clint. Over the weekend, I got a message from someone I went to school with who I have not heard from in over a decade, I reckon. And they message me and said,
Starting point is 00:34:07 hey, are you coming to the high school reunion tonight? Oh, on the day? On the day. Right. And I did know that it was happening. Right, you weren't uninvited. No, I was invited. They made like an Instagram page for it because that was the easiest way, I think, to contact everyone.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Yeah. But it was just too hard logistically to get back to Australia for a high school reunion. I understand, yeah. You know? Even the big one, even the 20-year high school reunion. Yeah, I don't know. I just, look, new baby. flying all the way to go to the high school.
Starting point is 00:34:46 I know you would have because you love a high school reunion. Like you organise your own. Well, I just don't put myself above the people that I went to school with. You know, it's like I quite like to catch up with them and see where everyone's at. But I understand that you think you're in a different place in your career and you're like, it's not really my scene. No, you've turned it into something else now. You've completely turned it into something else. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:35:06 Oh, sorry, I must have a wrong end of the stick. Yeah. Yeah, no, you've got a whole different stick to me. Anyway, it was interesting to see how many from our class attended the high school reunion. So I'm going to give you how many was in our class from memory. I think there was about 320 of us. In your senior year? In our senior year.
Starting point is 00:35:28 Yeah. That's a lot. Yeah, we're a big class. Co-ed. Yeah. How many do you think attended? Well, then we had a good turnout then, surely. The high school reunion.
Starting point is 00:35:37 Because we were a class of 60 and I think we got 40 to our reunion. Oh. So by that math, I would expect you to have over 200 at the high school reunion. That's a big-ass reunion. It is. 200. It is, but it's just over half your senior year. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:52 So that's what I'm thinking. Okay. Producers, how many you think turned up to the high school reunion? It's the 20-year high school reunion, by the way. Knowing how my one would go, like 15 people. 15? I don't think anyone would go to mine. Wow.
Starting point is 00:36:08 Clint would have if he got to join it. I would have gone to your high school reunion. He tried to come to my high school reunion, but he wasn't invited. This man loves a high school reunion. I'm trying to think of all the high school reunions I've seen in movies. I feel like there's like 100 people there. So I'll go 100. 100.
Starting point is 00:36:22 100. Only 60 people went. Yeah, right. That makes sense. Because I asked her, I was like, how many people turned up? And then it was so interesting because I saw the photo. And it was interesting to see who from my high school senior year turned up to the reunion. Anyone you couldn't recognize?
Starting point is 00:36:38 Maybe one or two, I'll be honest. But most people, I could tell you exactly who they are. The guy that I did not think was going to turn up, but he turned up. And it makes sense because he wanted to brag, obviously, was the guy who's become a multimillionaire, the entrepreneur. Yeah, if you become a multimillionaire, you go to your high school reunion. Yeah. You take your hot wife, you pull up in your sports car.
Starting point is 00:37:04 You're like, what have I been up to? Well, let me show you the McLaren. Let me bring up the Forbes article. Yeah. Okay. Well, if he could go, you could have gone. You know? No, that's why I didn't go, because I didn't want to be that sad person rolling in there.
Starting point is 00:37:18 The friend that messaged you actually messaged me as well. Oh, did she? Did she? Yeah. She asked you to DJ at the event because she knew you did DJ at yours. Yeah, but I knew you weren't going. So I was like, oh, no, I don't really want to cut Breeze lunch and go. But she shared with me that you actually.
Starting point is 00:37:34 Here we go. What? You, because you said, sorry, I can't come. What? What? video to be played out at the reunion. And you said, get it up on the projector. And I'd like to share a video.
Starting point is 00:37:45 And she actually sent me the video. Do you guys want to hear it? Do you guys want to hear a video? This is this bullshit story that you are spreading. This is the video that Bree sent to her high school reunion that she chose not to attend to be played out to those that did attend. What are you about to play? The video that you made.
Starting point is 00:38:02 Oh, get a to the class of 2006. That's right. It's the famous one. from our year. Me, Brianna Thomasel. I just wanted to say, I'm so sorry I can't be there
Starting point is 00:38:16 to celebrate with y'all. You know I wanted to, but I'm getting ready to film another season of my hit television show Celebrity Treasure Island. Yep. Otherwise, I would have been there
Starting point is 00:38:29 to shake hands and have photos with all of you and sign anything that you wanted me to. Anyway, Just remember, try your best every day, and one day you might be as famous and successful as me, Brianna Thomasel. All right, get in here, you like. Yep, that's my catchphrase.
Starting point is 00:38:55 See ya. I nearly swore then. Why the F do I sound like binty freaking Erwin? ZD.M.'s Bree and Clint. Last week, one of the big stories was Lily Allen cancelling her show here in Auckland. I'm just kidding. She said she'd come down with a virus. It happens.
Starting point is 00:39:18 Okay? It happens. They're so run down when they're on tour. I know people go back and forth and they're like, oh, are they actually sick? But imagine just travelling constantly. Airplane air conditioning. Hotel air conditioning. Not to mention the physical toll a show like that would take on your body.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Yeah. Yeah, totally. and then some people go, well, don't schedule so many shows then, which is also a fair point. But I think it's so they make enough money. I would fall over almost instantly. I'd get sick straight away.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Lily cancelled on the day, which some people were angry about. But I always feel with those things that they hold out to the last minute in case they are okay. I like to give them the benefit of the doubt that way. Anyway, someone who flew up to Auckland, doesn't live in Auckland,
Starting point is 00:40:03 flew up to Auckland to go to Lily Ellen's show last week, landed in Auckland, found out the show was cancelled and they're like, sucks, but we're here, let's go out for dinner in the Viaduct. And make the best of it. And make the best of it, which is a good way to do it. They said on Reddit, this person, that they went to this restaurant,
Starting point is 00:40:21 Hello Beastie in the Viaduct. Okay. And they said when they went in to have dinner, who was sitting at the restaurant, but Lily Allen. Really? Not partying or anything. Having dinner.
Starting point is 00:40:35 They said she was having dinner with her daughters. Photo or it didn't happen. We want proof. She said she made eye contact with Lily Island. She didn't go over or anything, but she made eye contact with her. She was like, you are meant to be performing tonight.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Yeah, she said there was like a knowing look where Lily Ellen was like, you chucked a sickie, and now you're out here to dinner. That's what it is. The person who reported it is pissed because she believes that if you're too sick to do the show, you're too sick to go out for dinner. I get what they're saying, if it's true.
Starting point is 00:41:05 I do too. Like, if you're canceling a show that inconveniences and disappoints hundreds of fans, then I ain't leaving the hotel room. I do. I agree. Until I realized she was out with her daughters. And I don't know how old her daughters are, but I imagine they're young. And then you're like, wow, do you have a responsibility as the mum to be like,
Starting point is 00:41:26 I've flown you all the way to New Zealand? I've got to at least show you outside the hotel room. Absolutely not. I'd say I'll show you around in Australia on the next stop. They're 12 and 14. Yeah, so they'd understand. Her daughters. You know what she could have easily done?
Starting point is 00:41:41 They would have kept them happy. Girls, you can order whatever you want from room service. Oh, yeah. Go nuts. They would have been stoked. Well, that's what this person's saying. They said she should have had room service and stayed on her room. You're right.
Starting point is 00:41:54 She's been busted on a sickie. Yeah. That's what it is. She's been busted on a sickie. And the next day she was in Australia and she posted, she's like, I'm more better. Oh, did she? Yeah, which is good because it meant that she did all the Aussie shows. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:07 You know, the question that we have to ask here is, are you allowed to be seen in public on a sick day? No. If you call in sick to work. You need to stay home. Like that is a part, that is a part of the joy of calling in sick. And let me tell you why. Why?
Starting point is 00:42:25 Because there's no pressure on you to do anything. Oh, yeah. It is a free pass to stay home, put your feet up. Relax. I called in sick one time at another radio station that I worked at. Oh, you was at another radio station. And I forgot that that day that I'd called in sick for was also the Radio Awards day. And so...
Starting point is 00:42:49 How did you mess that up? I know. And so then my partner was like, well, you can't go to the Radio Awards. And I was like, oh, but I want to go. Too bad. Too bad. You stuffed up there big time. We won station of the year, too.
Starting point is 00:43:03 I had to watch it on the law. live stream from the couch. That'll teach you. That'll bloody teacher. But I didn't go out on a sick day, did I? No. You stayed at home. Stayed at home.
Starting point is 00:43:13 Like you should have. We want to know, did you get caught on a sick day? Or did you catch someone on a sick day? Did you bust someone? The scandal, like at the core of it, not really a big deal. No. But like the scandal of it. On a micro level, yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:31 If you do see someone who's called in. You're like, hey, wait a minute. I know. Here's a question. Let's say someone from your work, Chuck's a sickie. Yeah. You see them out and about. Do you dib a dob on them?
Starting point is 00:43:46 Nah, I take a photo of them. What I do is I go to the supermarket and I get a newspaper, today's newspaper. And then I go and get them, I say, hey, good to see you. Can you hold this for a second? And then I take a picture of them holding today's newspaper. So it's like date stamped. And then I go, boom.
Starting point is 00:44:04 gotcha bitch, and then you can blackmail that person. You manipulative, prick. Don't ever let me get on your bad side. Did you get busted on a sick day, or did you bust someone on their sick day? Dead end Franklin. Lily Allen was spotted at a restaurant in the viaduct on the same night that she cancelled her Spark Arena gig
Starting point is 00:44:26 because she was sick. Allegedly. Yeah, allegedly. Allegedly. There's no proof. Yeah. But yeah, she says she saw it. her in the BIDA. Someone who was going to the
Starting point is 00:44:36 concert said that they saw her. They're pissed because they're like, Warren, you're doing the show. Anyway, we asked, who did you bust on a sickie? All the conspiracies are coming out now. We've got to teach from someone who said, my sister and I saw Alex Warren making TikToks in Brutemar. The night before he cancelled.
Starting point is 00:44:52 And he didn't look sick at all. See, allegedly. Allegedly. Why do you keep saying allegedly? Are you worried you're going to get sued by Lily Allen? Mate, she literally wrote a whole album taking down her ex-house. I wouldn't put a bastard. So we want to know who you busted on a sickie.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Charles is here. Hi Charles. Hi Charles. Hello. Who'd you bust, Charles? Who was pulling a sickie? It was me. How did you get busted, Charles?
Starting point is 00:45:19 I was on day three of my sickie. Like day three? Yeah, you've got to drag it out to make it look legit. I've heard that. Yeah. I hear what you're saying. Yeah, okay. So what happened?
Starting point is 00:45:33 Yep. I went to the movie. on the Friday night. And on the Monday, back at work, the boss pulls me in, queries me about my sickness. Doesn't tell me anything. It doesn't lead to anything. Charles, before you tell us the rest of the story, what sickness did you say you had? Well, that was part of it.
Starting point is 00:45:52 He asked if I was bedridden, and I said no, which was the key answer. Okay, yeah, okay. I said I had a sore tummy. and he said, was your sore tummy still there at the movies on Friday night when I saw you there? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:09 And I said, yes, of course. I had an emergency popcorn bucket next to me just in case. Exactly. And it was Harry Potter definitely hallows part one, so who cares? Charles.
Starting point is 00:46:24 Henry's here. Hi, Henry. Hi, Henry. Hi, Stefano. Who got busted on a sickie, Henry? I busted. one of our employees, they were away on a work trip
Starting point is 00:46:35 and they had called in sick but we knew from a colleague that the colleague was cat sitting and so we knew that they weren't back in the city so they were away on work and so we called her on it and saying hey you're not actually sick
Starting point is 00:46:50 and she said how dare you question my integrity and then I went oh no exactly and so I because she got her flights reimbursed I logged into Ian New Zealand using her last name and booking reference number, and it's like, you're all set for your trips back to Christchurch in two days' time. And it's like, you've got these flights reimbursed through work. Don't try and lie to us.
Starting point is 00:47:15 No. Yeah. You're a detective, Henry. You done her like a dinner, and what did she have to say for herself, Henry? Well, unfortunately, she had already resigned. So she resigned. Oh, no, she's in the power seat. She's in the driver's seat.
Starting point is 00:47:27 Exactly. Nothing we could do. Yeah, I'd probably take the piss that hard too If I'd already resigned If it was an international flight I'd do something like I'd change her meal preference You know
Starting point is 00:47:38 Make her vegan Yeah, I like it Yeah, didn't you when you resign From your last workplace Didn't you like clean out the stationary cupboard Two days before? Yeah Yeah
Starting point is 00:47:50 And did a big steamer on my boss's desk I love this text It says, Hi, I work at a preschool I rang one of the child's mum's work to ask her to come and pick up her sick child. They said she wasn't there because she was at home with her sick child.
Starting point is 00:48:10 Oh, no. I didn't dogg her in. I just rang and asked to speak to her. So she's already using the sick kid thing. That's tempting fate, isn't it? Yeah. That's like saying that you've at your grandma's funeral but your grandma's not actually dead.
Starting point is 00:48:26 like you're tempting the universe to kill grandma. Yeah. Right, yeah. Well, it's the other grandma that died. I've still got one that's alive. Always keep a grandma. And then the boss is like, wait, you've had two grandmas pass away. Yeah, my grandmas were lesbians.
Starting point is 00:48:41 I had three, actually. I got three grandmas. Two on one side and one on the other side. And on the other side, that one was bisexual and an open relationship. So I've also got six granddads. Yeah. Yeah. So just so you know.
Starting point is 00:48:52 Just so you know. I'm going to be taking a lot of days off for funerals. A few years ago. I called in sick and went skiing for the day. On the last run, I tore a ligament in my knee. I ended up being off work for six weeks. Busted. That sucks so much.
Starting point is 00:49:07 Someone said, you can be seen in public when you call in sick. It's no one's business as to why you called in. It could be a family emergency or a mental health day. That's what producer grace said. Yeah, you reckon you've got a loophole, producer grace. If you get caught, you were just having a mental health day and you had to go outside. I had to do some shopping to make. to make my mental health better.
Starting point is 00:49:27 But what if I've already said I've got diarrhoea? Mental health diarrhea. It can happen at the same time. You can get anxious diarrhea. I'm such horrible anxiety. That I had diaries. I just had diarrhea and now I'm shopping because the diarrhea parts over.
Starting point is 00:49:41 The only thing that cures my anxious diarrhea is J.B. Hi-Fi. Yeah, true. I work as a manager. One of my team members went home complaining of a migraine. An hour later, I bumped into her at the hair salon having her hair done.
Starting point is 00:49:55 I would honestly just want to die in that moment. I'd just be like, what do you do? You just have to own it. You just have to own it and be like, come on, as if you've never had a sickie before. You just go, oh, you got me. I think that's better, right? Because someone texts in and said, I'm a manager, and the worst bit is when you catch someone,
Starting point is 00:50:15 and then they double down on the lie and they do the little fake cough. And they're like, oh, oh, I thought I was better, but I'm not. Wait, are they Greta Thunberg? Please help me, I am dying. That's if Grita Thunberg calls in sick. She'd need a job first. Z-Dames, Brian Clint. We were talking about sick days before getting caught on a sickie.
Starting point is 00:50:37 Someone said, my bestie took a sickie. She went for a run, and she managed to literally run into her boss as she was getting out of her car. God. You have to own it at that point, don't you? That is an awful coincidence. It's the universe going. Yep.
Starting point is 00:50:54 In that very second, because one second sooner, you could have turned the corner. One second later, you would have missed it all together. We were joking that, you know, if you have multiple sets of grandparents, there's multiple funerals that you can take a day off for. Someone said, I actually have five sets of grandparents. How? Step grandparents, maybe? Again, how?
Starting point is 00:51:19 No, you don't get step grandparents. Yeah, so let's say your grandma and grandpa, had kids together. Yeah. Which is obviously your dad or your mum. Yeah. But they split up at some point. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:32 And then remarried. Who splits up? The grandparents or your parents? The grandparents. The grandparents, they split up. Yeah. And then they get together with someone else. Oh.
Starting point is 00:51:40 Like early. Yeah. So that means you've got an extra grandma and an extra grandpa. Do you get a day off for extra grandma and extra granddad? Depends how long they're in your life. And then your parents separate? And then your parents separate. And so they get together with new people.
Starting point is 00:51:56 And then those new people also have parents. And so then you've got step-grandparents there too. Yeah. Yeah, true. So you can have multiple, multiple sets. It's not just lesbian grandmas that means you have multiple grandmas. Mm. Although that would give you multiple grandmas as well.
Starting point is 00:52:13 Yeah. And lesbian grandma funerals go off. The best funeral. You do not want to miss a lesbian grandma funeral. Oh, don't even let me tell you about what happens at the wake. Yeah. Celebration of Life, more like Celebration of Wife. You said it, Clint.
Starting point is 00:52:30 You were right about the five grandparents thing. They text back. They said their parents separated when they were young. Yep. Both remarried. Yep. So they got step grandparents on both sides. Yep.
Starting point is 00:52:41 And one set of their grandparents separated and remarried. Another set of step grandparents. Yeah. God. What a time to be alive. The infinite grandparent loop. Yeah. Imagine
Starting point is 00:52:53 Self-regenerating grandparents Imagine how many $5 notes you would get in birthday cards every birthday I know Christmas, birthdays You'd be absolutely rolling in it You'd have so many cardigans as well
Starting point is 00:53:05 Wouldn't you? Yeah All right, let's do your birthday bangers Number one songs when you turn 16 Who's up first? Biana Am I saying that right Biana? Yes or are
Starting point is 00:53:18 Biana How are you Biana? Good good, good Have you ever met another Biana? Because I don't think I've ever met a Biana before. No, but there is one who's in the country. She lives in the South Island. She spells her name the same.
Starting point is 00:53:33 We were named after the same model, but it's pronounced differently. Really? Is she a Biana? Oh, Bajana. A Bajana. Yeah. Is she your arch nemesis? Oh, she could be.
Starting point is 00:53:46 Yeah, yeah. And then you've got Brianna over here. Yeah, don't even get me started. Don't get the three of you in the same room. Jesus, be like that Spider-Man meme. Biana, what is your date of birth? 31st of October, 85. All right, that means you were 16, Biana in 2001.
Starting point is 00:54:06 And on that day, this was at the top. Banger. Tune from Mary J. Blige. Bion, is it your birthday this weekend? It is. What are you doing for it? We are going to a Halloween event. What are you dressing up as?
Starting point is 00:54:24 Ooh. I'm going to go as, I don't know yet, to be honest. Go as pajana. Go as pajana. Yeah, yeah, go. Thanks, Biana. Wait there. We're going to do one for Laura.
Starting point is 00:54:36 Hi, Laura. Hi. What have you been doing today, Laura? Working. Yeah, I'll hear you on that. Nothing special. Well, let's try and make it a bit more special with your birthday banger. What's your day to birth?
Starting point is 00:54:49 14th, September 97. All right, that means you were 16, Laura, in 2013. And on that day in 2013, this was number one. One of Katie Perry's biggest. Did I just hear you groan, Laura? Did you just go, oh. Do you hate it, Laura? Be honest.
Starting point is 00:55:15 Oh, I'm not the biggest fan, but that's a great. I knew it. Do you not have the eye at the tiger, Laura? Come on, what about the part where she's like, do you love that? No, there's no convincing Laura. It's okay, that's okay. It pained her when it came on.
Starting point is 00:55:34 She was suffering, yeah. Oh, yuck. Hugo is here, and Hugo's going to do Mum Sonia's birthday banger. Giday, Hugo. Hi, Hugo. Hi. How old are you, Hugo? How old are you, mate?
Starting point is 00:55:50 I'm nine. You're nine. Which means you're a bit young for birthday banger, but you're here to do mum. Mum's birthday banger. What is mum's birthday, do you know? 10th of February, 1980. Oh, you crushed that.
Starting point is 00:56:04 Hugo, well done. That means mum was 16 in 1998. And here's her birthday banger. Aquas other hits. Not Barbie Girl, Dr. Jones. Do you know that one, Hugo? Yeah. Do you like it?
Starting point is 00:56:26 Yeah. Does Mum like it? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, wait. we've got to choose between Mary J. Blige, Katie Perry and Dr. Jones very different songs today. Definitely not voting for that god-awful Katie Perry song. Yuck!
Starting point is 00:56:45 Mary J. Blige for me? Is that? I think it's Aqua Dr. Jones for me. Oh, Chugie. Hey, I never come for your choices. Let me have my choice. Okay. Claudia, you need to decide. You can choose from all three. I quite like that Katie Perry song. Laura will come for you. That's true.
Starting point is 00:57:08 Nah, Mary J. Blige has got my vote. Yeah. Shugie. Mary J. Blige is so last decade. What's Aqu? It's older. Biana, you're the winner of birthday banger. Have a good birthday this weekend.
Starting point is 00:57:27 Oh, many thank you. Oh, go. Brian Clint. The ZD.M. Podcast Network. The winner of birthday bangers. Mary J. Blyge, family affair for Biana. It's her birthday this coming weekend. She was 16 in 2001.
Starting point is 00:57:48 Just looking up who, the model, she was named after. Oh yeah, B-I-A-A-A-A-I-A-A-I-A. I can't find it. A lot of Bianca's, but no Biancas. Oh, my God, imagine her whole life she was meant to be Bianca. But Dad spelt the name wrong on the birth certificate. I mean, I've heard of craziest stories. He's like, we'll just call her Biana.
Starting point is 00:58:10 Yeah. It'll be fine. It's a name, isn't it? Yeah, it's close enough to Bianca. And the mum's like, it's not a bloody name. He's like, it's a name. I've heard it lots of places. There's that model.
Starting point is 00:58:21 That model named Biana. Which model? Well, you can't, don't look it up. Google doesn't exist yet, so don't Google it. What do we do before Google? We just had to believe people. Yeah. Someone just texted in and said, my name is Bijana, but it's spelled B-J-A-A-N-A.
Starting point is 00:58:37 Ah. Bajana. That is Bajana. That's Bajana. She was Biana. Biana. Yeah. And you were Brianna.
Starting point is 00:58:46 Yeah. Bihanna, Brianna. I imagine if you had triplets. I just want to have triplets to name them that. It's ZAM's Brie and Clint podcast. It's a Tuesday and on Tuesdays we go looking for a name and a haystack. Hardest game in radio. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever been won. But we live in hope with this game.
Starting point is 00:59:13 Yeah. This game is the ultimate positive mindset, isn't it? No, let me do my joke. Yeah, it's kind of like the wallabies in the last 20 years. Yeah, they live in hope. We live in hope. And yet every year and every week. We fail. A loser. We call a random business selected by one of our producers. We are looking for a name to answer the phone that is selected by one of our other producers.
Starting point is 00:59:36 If the two line up, if we get the perfect match today, they'll win $4,350 cash free. It's a whole lot of cash money. Let's go to Claudia first. What will you be picking today? The location today. Okay. Where are we calling it? We are going to go to a hobby shop in Auckland.
Starting point is 00:59:53 It's called Hobby Lords. Hobby Lords. What do they do at Hobby Lords? They've got Pokemon. They've got Magic the Gathering. I loved our local hobby shop in Rottero. It was like a hangout spot. What did you play?
Starting point is 01:00:05 No, we collected cards What'd you collect? It might be the most uncool thing you've ever seen. Says the person with a Pokemon card collection. Oh yeah. Okay. No, I love it. I'm on board.
Starting point is 01:00:17 Yeah. Bree's cool until she remembers that she's not. No, I've never claimed to be cool. Grace, who works at Hobby Lords? The person who works at Hobby Lords is Amy. Amy? Interesting, interesting. A woman.
Starting point is 01:00:31 I don't mean to gender this. Yeah, but I feel like on odds, you would have to be. been safe for going with a man's name. I thought I could only pick woman names. What? Oh, really? I didn't explain the rules to this. You pick any name.
Starting point is 01:00:44 Oh. Any name in history of the world. Can I choose? No. No. Wait, so you've been playing this for a month and you thought you could only choose woman names. We've only chosen woman names, so why would I expect otherwise?
Starting point is 01:00:57 The thing is that they're not allowed to talk. So Grace didn't know she was picking the hobby shop, remember? Yeah, I know. So she can't. True, true, true, true, true. You can't preempt that to pick a male name. Oh, no, that's a really good point. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:09 Also, I do know. But, I mean, fascinating that you thought you had to pick a female name. Grace, going forwards, the universe of names are available to you. Okay. But we won't need it because we're going to get it today. It's going to be Amy at the hobby shop. Claudia, please contact Hobby Lords. We're today if Amy answers the phone, she will win $4,350.
Starting point is 01:01:29 Good luck to all of us. Good luck. Hello, I'll be a lot to near my kid. Hi, who was we speaking with, sorry? Ah, Hon. Hon. It's Bree and Clint calling from Zidem Hon. Hi, Hon.
Starting point is 01:01:39 I'm good. How are you? Yeah, good. We play this game on our radio show. It's called Name and a Haystack. And if we pick the name of the person who's going to answer the phone, that person wins money. And we picked Amy today. So if your name was Amy Hon, you would have won $4,350.
Starting point is 01:01:57 Right. Does Amy work? Do you have an Amy that works there? No, we don't. Okay. Are there any girls that work at Hobby Lords? Oh, nope. Would you like it if a girl came and worked at Hobby Lords?
Starting point is 01:02:09 Yeah, definitely. Yeah, I think we need to get more women into the Hobby Lords business. And what's the hottest card collectible at Hobby Lords at the moment? What are you doing the most trade-in? Well, Pokemon. Yeah, yeah. Okay. All right, thank you for your time, Hon.
Starting point is 01:02:24 We'll leave you to it. No, thank you. Bye, Hon. See, Han. Grace, why don't you pick Hon? Yeah, sorry, guys. That's on all on me. That is all on you.
Starting point is 01:02:35 Oh, back to the drawing board. The bloody wallabies. I came across this guy talking on a podcast where he was ripping into the Kiwis. Oh yeah. Something that the Kiwis say. And he says that he believes Kiwis need to stop saying this one particular word because of your accent. Oh. He was coming for you.
Starting point is 01:03:07 Right. Big time. What word do you think it might be? Deck. That's a good one. I was going to say six. Six deck. Six bears on the deck.
Starting point is 01:03:18 Nice. Does not go down well outside of New Zealand, does it? No. Yeah. You guys aren't right. It's not a word that I hear people like when they're impersonating a Kiwi. They don't really say this word. But now that I think about it,
Starting point is 01:03:36 very Kiwi when you say this, take a listen. I also heard a New Zealish person say the word spaghetti, and that pissed me off. Spaghetti. Take this play, spaghetti. Don't ever say the word spaghetti again. Spaghetti. Wow, so classy when he says it.
Starting point is 01:03:57 I've never thought about it, but so classy. I also love that he called Kiwi's New Zealish people. New Zealish. Disgusting, I hate that. No, I love it. We are the New Zealish. I love it. It's so good.
Starting point is 01:04:08 Okay. Do you say that word like that? I need to say it unencumbered and uninfluenced by that guy. What are you having for dinner tonight? Clint? Spaghetti. Spaghetti and meatballs. Spaghetti? Oh no.
Starting point is 01:04:23 Spaghetti and meatballs. Spaghetti and meatballs. God, what about you? It's like a spaghetti ball and ayes. Yeah, you suck too. Grace? I'm going to have spaghetti and meatballs. See, she's got a bit of...
Starting point is 01:04:35 She's got a little bit of... I was raised overseas, yeah. Yeah. You got a little bit of... As we say in New Zealand, you've got a little bit of Genie C-Quah about your accent. Yeah, we don't know where she's from.
Starting point is 01:04:46 No. You know? So then the high and mighty over there, Australian, half Italian, hit us with the long stringy past name. Smaghetti. Oh, whatever. No, that is actually how she orders it.
Starting point is 01:05:00 It's a nightmare when you go out for dinner with her and she's like, Yeah, I'll have a glass of the sav, the garlic bread, actually cheesy garlic bread, please. And then the split of the spaghetti! Some spaghetti! ZDM's Bree and Clint Podcast. Piece of audio doing the rounds on the internet where a guy has claimed that he believes anyone in the world can do an impression of this character. Anyone?
Starting point is 01:05:27 Anyone. Take a listen. Mickey Mouse is one of those things where I kind of feel like anybody could maybe do me. Mickey Mouse is just like now you're going to get comments in the same way that like when I was doing sketch comedy like the laziest choice you could make would be like to do a southern accent I think Mickey Mouse is that for cartoon characters
Starting point is 01:05:45 he's just like oh no go on give it a go no you know I'm not good at impressions well you're great at impressions okay Mickey Mouse anyone can do Mickey Mouse I'm gonna just just give me a second to get it
Starting point is 01:06:01 What's something that Mickey Mouse says What's something that Mickey Mouse would say? He'd be... Okay, he's talking to Pluto. Okay. Okay, yeah. Oh, hey, Pluto. You're not even trying.
Starting point is 01:06:19 I am trying. You're not trying. Okay. Oh, how, Pluto. That sounds like Stitch from Lilo instead. Ha, ha, ha. It's me, Mickey Mouse. Oh.
Starting point is 01:06:35 I can't, can you... I can't find it at all. I can't remember what Mickey Mouse sounds like now after those attempts. We need like a pallet cleanser. Some kind of original Mickey Mouse. Can anyone do Mickey Mouse? Go on, Claude. I can't do it, but he's just like, oh boy.
Starting point is 01:06:52 That's good. That was good. That was good. Producer Grace. I don't think I could do it. Can you do your oh boy again? Oh, no, I think it was a one and done. No, I can get it off.
Starting point is 01:07:00 Claude's, oh boy. Like, oh boy. There is ear, yeah. Oh, boy. Oh boy. That's not. What is that? You sound like the guy from the goonies.
Starting point is 01:07:14 Hey, you guys. He turned into Ben Albert. Yeah, that's another good reference. Oh, no. One more time, Clint. You've got it in you. Yeah, this one. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 01:07:24 Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. That's better. Oh, boy. It's me, Mackey Mouse. No, you lost it.
