Starting point is 00:00:00 The ZM Podcast Network. Play ZM's Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley. Hello, welcome to the Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley podcast. It's thanks to McCafe. Try barista-made iced coffees available now at your local McCafe. If you could be at one historic event in history, which is what makes it historic, what would it be? So we have access to a time machine.
Starting point is 00:00:25 Yeah, you can only use it once. Return trip, I'll bring you back. How long do we have there? The day. A day and a night. Okay, will we need accommodation? It'll all be sorted for you. Is that paid for accommodation?
Starting point is 00:00:37 Everything you need. Everything you need to wear, the money you need. You're going anywhere in history and you're worried if there's a movie. Are we getting per diems? And when are we getting our per diems? Come along with the movie. Are we getting per diems? And when are we getting our per diems? Come along with the fantasy. Are we getting per diems in German marks or the Euro? Because you won't be able to buy anything.
Starting point is 00:00:50 This is my question. My credit card's not going to work in the past, is it? Okay, listen. Okay, I'm in Hitler's bunker. Are you? Really? In this situation. I hadn't thought about it when I said German marks or Euros.
Starting point is 00:01:05 It's dangerous. It's all going tits up. But what are you, a spy? What in this situation? I just thought about it when I said German marks or European or Euros. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I want to be in there. It's all going tits up. But what are you, a spy? Like you'd be in your Run DMC t-shirt. Yeah. What are you just like looking like you're from the future? I say.
Starting point is 00:01:16 You're like sup. I'd be like this stands for Run Deutschland Mein Kampf. I'm not a huge fan. What are you doing? And he's got a cyanide pill in his hand And I'm like Oh so you're there just as he's about to top himself I'm not any part of any war
Starting point is 00:01:32 Just as he's about to do it What are you going to stop him? What? What are you going to stop him? I'm not going to tell him to do it But he does it Do it pussy But he does it
Starting point is 00:01:40 But he won't Wait so you want to be responsible for the death of Hitler? Why wouldn't you just kill him and be the one that killed him? No, but I can't be. You can't alter history, right? I'm there purely as an observer. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wait, you just have to witness what happened.
Starting point is 00:01:58 You're not changing history. Yeah, okay. Just witnessing. Yeah. It was a witnessing. It would be a hell of a thing because nobody witnessed it nobody that was alive yeah because was it him and eva braun and one other person they all killed themselves yeah here's an idea you'd love your true crime right i do would you go back say
Starting point is 00:02:16 you pick a like a real like a um a real mystery a real like whit. Yes. And go back to the time of the crime so you could witness who did it? Yes. Wouldn't that be a good one? But when you come back, you can't tell anyone. So you can't say, I know who did this murder. I know who committed this crime. But could you anonymously submit to
Starting point is 00:02:40 the authorities? But it's too late at that point. You can't stop the crime. Someone's already been wrongly imprisoned or somebody's already been murdered. Yeah. Okay, okay too late at that point. You can't stop the crime. Someone's already been wrongly imprisoned or somebody's already been murdered. You're just witnessing. You can't do anything. I'm going Saturday 13th July 1985. Live Aid. I'm at Live Aid.
Starting point is 00:02:55 It's the greatest set that Queen has ever played. It's a set that has stood the test of time. I've watched Live Aid on DVD since I was a kid and I love it. All the greatest bands that I love were at that concert and Queen played like the best set. I do that because I'm an observer.
Starting point is 00:03:10 I can't change anything. I'll be in the crowd. You're purely there for a pleasure of observation. Purely there to drink some beer, listen to some great music and I'll come back and be like, I went to Live Aid, 1985. And they'll be like, you fucking liar.
Starting point is 00:03:21 You weren't even alive. You weren't even alive. Yeah, but I had this time machine when I was older. Yeah, that sounds like a lie. That's like another one. Yeah, you go, but you can never tell anybody about it. Oh, right. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:33 That's another rule I'd like to pass. Like, would you sleep with the hottest person you can imagine, but you're never allowed to tell anybody about it? The minute you tell anybody about it, it didn't happen. Oh, it redacts it. And not even you can remember it. The minute you tell anybody about it, it didn't happen. Oh, it redacts it. And not even you can remember it. You'd come straight into work and tell us you sleep with Jason Momoa. You'd be able to tell. But then you'd never remember. It'd disappear and then we'd have no memory of you telling us. So you've got to live just with your own personal satisfaction
Starting point is 00:03:59 for sleeping with your dream person. Yeah. Which I get to do every night because I'm married to the woman I love. Now you've said it. No, you're not anymore. No! I lied! Oh, I'm busting for a wheeze after that podcast. I'll tell you.
Starting point is 00:04:16 It's a podcast. You are allowed to listen to it while you're wheeze. There's no rules on when and where you're allowed to listen to a podcast. It just says here I'm busting for a wheeze. I read it, okay? I read it. Give us a review.
