Starting point is 00:00:00 The ZM Podcast Network. Play ZM's Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley. Hello, welcome to the Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley podcast. It's thanks to McCafe. Try barista made iced coffees available now at your local McCafe. Now, I would like to debate tall versus short glasses because I could easily live in a world with no short glasses ever. Oh, I was just about to say I could easily live in a world with no short glasses ever. Oh, I was just about to say I could easily live in a world with no tall glasses.
Starting point is 00:00:28 What are you doing with a tall glass? I want a big, tall, girthy glass. And if I only want a little bit of juice or water. But see, in my world, when you said tall, I was imagining a skinnier tall glass. Oh, no, no. It's when you get at a bar when you're like chin and tonic and it's in a tall glass. Those are silly. I want a bit of girth.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Yeah, like a big, fatth Yeah Like a big fat glass Like the ones you used to get At McDonald's You know like the collector's Oh yeah The collector's glasses The Coke ones Perfect example
Starting point is 00:00:52 Of a great glass The Coke glasses There's room for a lot of liquid But if you don't want as much You just don't But I can't get as much ice Down on that bottom bit Because it gets
Starting point is 00:01:00 Those used to get skinnier At the bottom Okay well imagine Just a big thick A short squat glass Is where it's at. No, because you can have a small drink. There's not enough room. There's not enough room.
Starting point is 00:01:11 But you're a whiskey boy. Yeah, for whiskey and ice. Ice in there, whiskey. It's not too much. It's enough. Actually, I think I'm with you, Fletch. I feel so ripped off when I go to a bar, especially when you get a cocktail, right?
Starting point is 00:01:25 And you're like, can I have a something fizz, gin sour or something like that? And they bring it out and it's like literally in a fricking shop of alcohol. Kids tumbler. Kids tumbler. You guys are getting caught up on, you're just getting more mixer and more ice.
Starting point is 00:01:41 No, I know. The same amount of alcohol as in a short glass. I know, but I'm just going to drink that like. Yeah. And then you're like, that was $22 a short glass I know but I'm just Going to drink They're like Yeah And they're like That was $22 Whereas at least If it's I don't need to get smashed
Starting point is 00:01:50 But I'm But Well maybe But it's the fact That I'll drink it too quickly See I used to drink Out of nothing But the biggest glass
Starting point is 00:01:58 I could find But now I do Drink primarily Out of a short glass Well I was reading That when Ikea First opened in America, Americans would buy the vases
Starting point is 00:02:08 vases for drinking because the glasses that they were selling were too tiny for Americans because you know Americans love a lot of ice. They love a lot of everything. They love big vessels. They love big vessels full of big drinks and big meals. Have you seen a cup holder
Starting point is 00:02:24 in like an American truck? Oh, it's nuts. Because meals. Have you seen a cup holder in like an American truck? Oh, it's nuts. Because, you know, you get like a cup holder here and it can't hold a big drink bottle. You could fit a poke bowl in there. Oh my God, you could. You could fit a small round barbecue in there. You could have a barbecue on the go.
Starting point is 00:02:38 But then a lot of those takeaway cups in America have the bottom bit that will fit in the cup holder and then they expand. It's ribbed for her pleasure. You work your way up. It's ribbed for your master's pleasure. Yeah. Pop it in the cup holder.
Starting point is 00:02:58 I go a short glass at a bar, but a big glass at home. What are you drinking out of the big glass at home? That's another thing I wanted to ask you guys. Water. I drink a lot of water. A lot of bubbly water. Big on the bubbly water at home. Soda water. Wine. Out of the big glass.
Starting point is 00:03:14 Yeah, the big McDonald's Coke. Yeah, you get that. Take away. Wine with a straw in it. Because you know those big fancy wine glasses? You know the ones that are like a bowl with a stem? And then you get one at a bar ones that are like a bowl with a stem, and then you get one at a bar and it's like one little layer of wine, but it's the equivalent of like a full RSA glass.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Yeah, but it just doesn't look like it. It looks like the tide is well and truly out. Well, we bought some of those because I thought they'd be elegant, and then we keep wondering why there's only two glasses per bottle of wine now. Because you have a big gluggers. They're ripping us off. We're already getting two glasses. You're big gl a big- Because the glass- Big gluggers. They're ripping us off. We're already getting two glasses. You're big gluggers. You and Aaron are big gluggers.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Would you rather, speaking of your RSA, you're tied in, you're tied out, poor. Same amount, exactly the same amount. Big glass, little in the bottom, or smaller glass to the meniscus poor. Small glass to the brim. Yeah, I want to put it on the table and I can't pick it up without being like- Yeah, I need to do a table slurp first. Clear yourself a couple of centimetres of freeboard. I love an RSA pour.
Starting point is 00:04:11 Yeah, me too. I'm a big fan of it. And those yucky little weird shaped glasses. Hard. They're hard. Yeah, really hard. Thick. Is someone's lipstick still on there a little bit?
Starting point is 00:04:20 Oh, yeah. And they've been through the dishwasher so many times, they're getting the white streaks. I have that with all of my glasses because I've got, you know, those glasses that are shaped like aluminium cans, like a can of beer or Coke, and they've got a really cloudy white residue, and I think I might need one of those, you know, tips from Facebook,
Starting point is 00:04:37 how to clean your glasses. You need a TikTok hack. You need to go straight to TikTok for that. But I don't know, is there a hack for that? How to clean the white off glasses. Part of the converse is the most popular. Oh, really? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Look at the state of my converse. Oh, yeah. And I put new laces on, so it's only showing off how bad they are. Yeah. So we'll come back to that tab. White streaks off drinking glasses. I feel like baking soda will be an answer. Soak your glass in white vinegar.
Starting point is 00:05:02 If your issue is hard water minerals, all you have to do is soak your glasses for five minutes in white vinegar. It's acidic. It'll dissolve the minerals. Rinse your glass and then rinse each glass individually by hand. Now I've got to get a whole basin of vinegar. Costco. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Costco had a 20-liter thing of vinegar. I've never seen so much vinegar in one vessel in my life. I didn't look at the price. I didn't buy it. I just was like, oh, that's a lot of vinegar. You see, I could probably, those glasses were like $2 each. I could probably just buy all new glasses for the price of 20 litres of vinegar. Well, you don't have to go 20 litres.
Starting point is 00:05:34 Mix two tablespoons of white vinegar to one cup of water, and then either using a spray bottle or a paper towel, apply the solution to the glass. The acid within the vinegar will break down any cloudiness. It'll also give a more sparkly finish to the glass. Oh, yes. Life-changing. I don't know if it's life-changing.
Starting point is 00:05:51 It will change my life because quite often when I have a glass at home, I'm like, these are disgusting. Do you have hard water? I don't know what hard water is. Hard water? Well, it's coming out of those old lead-lined asbestos pipes. So I reckon you might be. I'd say yes.
Starting point is 00:06:04 You might have a bit of hard water Hard water wreaks havoc on your glasses in two ways It can leave behind a cloudy residue Second, hard water is less effective than soft water At rinsing away your dish soap and dirty water Which results in the milky film That's what I've got I've got a milky film
Starting point is 00:06:17 You've got a milky film And it's hardened I'm so glad you've brought it up Because every time we come over to your house I always say Oh Vaughan can you help me in the kitchen, please? And we go, oh, my God, look at the state. Yeah, and then we both just drink straight out of the tap.
Starting point is 00:06:31 I saw you in my kitchen. I saw you talking in my kitchen, but I thought they're talking about my milky residue. It's almost as embarrassing as when Sade came up to me. Have we talked about this? I tell you what, we'll talk about it on the next podcast. Great work, guys. 10 out of 10 if I say so myself.
Starting point is 00:06:49 I'll do a 9.6. Is that enough for you to review this podcast with a high rating and then tell all your friends? You sound very insincere. ZM's Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley.
