Hello, welcome to the Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley podcast.
It's thanks to McCafe.
Drive through and get a cup of barista-made McCafe coffee on the go.
Now I know here at the show we don't like to go on too much about our charity because...
Wait, how long is this podcast allowed to be, you know?
You're not going to talk about my charity work because I really am trying to keep that under the radar.
I know you're trying to keep that on the download.
What even is your charity work?
It's not, but I'm not in it for the accolades.
Well, she's exchanging money at the moment
for the services of a builder who are extending her house.
Oh, so you're actually employing people.
I'm not just employing, it's charity.
It's charitable contribution.
You won't believe how much money I'm giving him as well
You just
You won't believe the stats
Right
And then he's going to build you
Like more of a house
What he does as a result of me giving him that money
Is beside the point for me
Right
The point is I'm wanting to help this gentleman
And a couple of his acquaintances
Right
Isn't that just an exchange of money for goods and services?
No it's charity
Is it? Yeah Is it really right?
But again, I don't want to bring it up.
I don't want to talk about it.
What other charity do you do?
You must do so much.
Again, I just feel like I have to reiterate, I'm not in it for the...
You're helping out that big Australian company by shopping at their grocery store every week, aren't you?
Yeah, but again, for them, I'm just helping hand.
I mean, they're making a million dollars a day.
That's great.
That's amazing.
That's so good.
You won't believe how much we've raised.
Yeah.
For their profits and their shareholders.
Exactly.
Wow, okay.
Yeah, European car companies.
I'm helping out a whole lot of people.
A lot.
All the struggling enterprises.
Small New Zealand designers, all sorts.
Well, this Sunday, producer Jared and I Will be doing some charity
Actual charity
Actual charity
Are you doing a 40 hour famine?
No
No
It shouldn't go for 40 hours
I hope not
I have a schedule
For the 40 hours
Do they still do that?
They do the famine
But you can give up anything
Because obviously
It was banned at our school
Yeah
Because of the
Eating disorders
Yeah
We're going to be raising funds
For Resource Which is a Hawke's Bay based charity Okay That help people because of the eating disorders. We're going to be raising funds for Resource,
which is a Hawke's Bay-based charity that help people.
And if you've got staff that you're not using anymore,
they can pass it on to people who need it.
I thought they said don't give a shit.
Remember when, or was that when it was happening?
They said don't give a shit.
We're giving them, we're trying to raise money,
not things, but they do deal in things and money and helping people.
And I don't know if you know this, but Hawke's Bay recently got a hiding from a sword clone.
It did.
And, you know, while most of us cut up some trees and put them through a mulcher and got on with life,
a lot of people weren't given that privilege.
Yeah, it's devastating.
Yeah, and we're combining two of our favorite things.
Charity, which you've established, and Dungeons and Dragons, which is another one of our favourite things Charity which you've established In Dungeons and Dragons
Of course
Which is another one
Of our favourite things
He summed it in
He said I want to talk
About my charity work
Yeah
I just want to raise
Awareness for this charity
Yeah and now
Somehow
Again we're talking
About Dungeons and Dragons
And I
Because you've posted
A bit about this
I can't believe
How many nerds
How many comedy nerds
There are
Dude behind this
Have you seen this?
Are you embarrassed to be friends with some of these people too?
These are my people.
Yeah.
I think she'd be great.
I think Hayley would be very good.
Her character work would really come through.
What about me?
Would I be good at Dungeons and Dragons?
If we could somehow design a character that either was your Pakistani Persian rug dealer
or your Middle Eastern camel trader,
which I've said those are risky characters for you to be portraying,
but I'm pretty sure you could stick into character today.
Okay, okay.
So yeah, Rhys Matheson's playing.
Rhys, I recently played my first game of D&D with,
and he is insane.
I mean, we knew he was insane, but he goes hard.
He's insane, insane.
He goes hard.
Brunley Stent.
Yeah.
Taskmaster.
Victor.
Yeah.
And she's very good at Dungeons and Dragons as well.
She's a great actress.
Fantastic character actress.
Yeah.
Yeah.
She didn't stop.
Right.
It was brilliant.
Adam from Viva La Dirt League, who are just like legendary online nerds.
We worked with these guys and we had no idea.
We had no idea.
Great people. Alan and Rowan, good. We had no idea. Right. Right.
Alan and Rowan, good dudes, but like internet superstars.
Yeah.
People line up to meet them at comic cons and stuff.
They go overseas.
Yeah.
To these things.
And like, they're just like A-list celebrities to these people.
Yeah.
It's amazing.
Like at Armageddon, I kind of walked around this queue and I was like, hey guys.
And they're like, oh, hey man.
And everyone's just like, get in the back of the line.
I'm like, these are my friends.
Viva La Dirt League, little Kiwi nerd bros,
5 million subscribers on YouTube alone.
They recently raised 2.5 million United States dollars
to build their own studio so they can just make all
of their content at their own studio.
That's like 4 million New Zealand nearly.
Like three and a bit million.
And now I've got an online streaming D&D game
and Adam from Viva La Dirt League is going to be playing
as well as Harris, who's organising it,
one of the main organisers of it,
and our producer, Jared, and myself.
So wait, people are going to...
How are you going to raise money?
We're going to stream it on Twitch
and people can like...
It's like a telethon.
Right.
And then our character... If people are like, here's $20,
but it means that so-and-so has to do this,
then the character has to somehow work that into their gameplay.
Oh, God, are you going to, can I just give you $20?
I don't have twatch.
I've got $25 in my wallet.
Thank God you don't have twatch.
You would need to go to see a doctor if you had twatch.
Do you have twatch?
I don't have twatch.
Your smart TV's got twatch.
I don't know how to
get a twatcher on my TV.
You can get twatcher
on your TV.
I'm not putting
twatcher on my TV.
You put your twatch
worse places than your TV.
He has too.
Can we just give you
a note?
I've got some notes.
I'll spot you.
I don't know what
to do with notes.
Go on and find out
how to donate.
I'm not doing
a bank transfer.
Okay, wait.
When is this happening?
It's happening on Sunday.
Sunday. Sunday? Sunday the
What time? 24th, 25th,
26th. 2 o'clock
in the afternoon. Okay. For however long
it takes. They said three hours and I have
never once played a game of D&D that only
lasted three hours. Only lasted
three hours? Wait, I'm not watching for three
hours. We played for seven and a half
hours in person
last week. Oh, my God.
And you were like, oh, I'm so busy.
I've got all these things to do.
Well, that's why I had to get them out of the way so I could go and be a nerd.
You run a small farm and you are the father of a family.
Yeah.
But Daddy needs his downtime.
Daddy needs his downtime.
Yeah, my downtime is like an hour.
Well, there you go.
Sunday afternoon New Zealand time, 3 o'clock.
