Starting point is 00:00:00 From the ZM Podcast Network. This is Fleshwin and Haley's Big Pod. Brought to you by Chemist Warehouse. The biggest brands of the lowest prices. Fletchwan and Haley, look at that. It's Thursday. Thursday. Which means it's the Olivia Dean ticket blitz.
Starting point is 00:00:18 Yeah, we're going to start at 7 this morning every hour until 5 o'clock. People are already starting to call now. Oh, my sweeties. No, no, no. So from 7 o'clock, listen for the activated. They're going to play every hour until 5 o'clock. We've got to double pass every single hour. Midday today, general tickets go on sale for the rest of those tickets to her show.
Starting point is 00:00:37 So some frenzied people trying to get into the presale yesterday. People are stressed. Well, your chance to win them every hour today on ZM. Tosses as well, we're not stopping that. That'll be at 8 o'clock and 4 o'clock. Toss the coin, heads or tails. Start with $100. We've given away many 200, 400, even some 800.
Starting point is 00:00:57 So good. And 1,600. Yeah. Cash prize. So. No, 3,200. No, no, nobody's been able to go that far yet.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Yeah. So your chance are to play Tostas at 8 o'clock this morning, form, what have you got for the top six? Well, it has been hinted at that Hamilton will be taking the reins of rhythm and vines from Gisborne.
Starting point is 00:01:20 This is kind of an interview Benny did yesterday. Yeah. And that's kind of what she alluded to. Yeah. Whether or not that's, in fact, correct. Here's the, um, the pre-year.
Starting point is 00:01:30 problem, there's no vines. Oh yeah. Hamilton doesn't make a fun wine. It's got lots of rhythm though. Outside of Hamilton but not in, not in a month-d-ish. Nice back next to the Cassie, some Cassie wine.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Oh, we'll have a wad. We'll plant some vine so it stacks up. But basically I've got the top six places to camp in Hamilton. Yeah, because it's camping, isn't it? There's a lot of camping involved in it. Yeah, correct. So I'm going to be putting on my local knowledge hat.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Nice. And letting you know where to pitch a tent. Okay. If R&V ends up in Hamilton. Coming up in the top six. Next on the show, though, a man was in an armed standoff with police. Oh, naughty.
Starting point is 00:02:06 For a long time. Yeah. So much so that he just needed a quick nap. Oh, you're going to power up for those standoffs? Yeah, you really do. You need to just a little bit of downtime. Well, what happened next? I'll tell you next.
Starting point is 00:02:18 A bit of downtime. The Z&M Podcast Network. And in the UK has been in a long standoff with armed police. Having a bad day. Okay, he was up there for a lay. He's on a roof. He's up there for a very long. That's a classic standoff position.
Starting point is 00:02:33 He's up there so long that he needs a little nap. He's got a gun? Yeah. What's he's upset about? I don't know exactly what he's upset about. Right. He's got a gun. Petrol prices.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Yeah. Actually, what is there not to be upset about? I feel like this happens. We always have a standoff in New Zealand. It's never an arm. It's always those prisoners at the youth facilities. They get up on the roof. I love sending them up on the roof.
Starting point is 00:02:56 It's just nice seeing kids not on their screens. Get outside. You know, they're outside, they get some fresh air, they've done some climbing, they've got some physical exercise. Then they lure them down with some KFC hot wings. Yes. You know, after 12 hours. Yeah, you get.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Yeah, I'm coming down to. I'm coming down too. So this guy was in a 48-hour standoff with the police. Oh, God. And it ends with him. He has a little nod off because he's tired. 48 hours straight. It's a long time.
Starting point is 00:03:24 I couldn't even go 24. I didn't even know if I'd think about that. I'm about to start a standoff with Polaro. Have I had a good sleep A couple of nights sleep? Do I have some no dose? Do I have Uber Eats open to get coffee delivered? Do I have water?
Starting point is 00:03:39 Water? Have I filled up? Am I? I'll take my jewell. And then do I have pissing facilities? Oh yeah, you've got to think about that. If I just piss? No, I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:03:46 No, I was going to say I'd take my dual leper coffee machine. Oh. But then I probably would. But Jewel Lingo would be good to her to pass the time. It's not constantly. No, you're going to keep the brain engaged. Yeah. Learn a bit of French.
Starting point is 00:03:57 Well, he's on the roof. So I guess if you need to go whizzi, He just would have wheeze and it would have gone down a roof into the gutter. If you're there for 48 hours, you're doing something up there. So he falls asleep on the roof. Where is this? America. And the UK. Oh, UK.
Starting point is 00:04:10 The police no he's on this roof so they get a ladder. And they put it again. They start sneaking up on him and he's asleep. He wakes up as the cop like pops up to grab him. Gotcha. So the cop grabs his pants. And then the cops falls back down the ladder. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:04:24 And the man's pants come all the way down. And then when they hit his feet, the cop, The cop's still going down and the falling. It's quite a like, it's one of those ordinary sized A-shaped ladders extended out. So I reckon he's got to be three metres up. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And the cop's like falling and he's holding and he's holding into the sky and he drags him off the roof. By his pants. And his pants are down. What his dick out. That's so shame. Shame you lose a criminal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Like how embarrassing. You think you're being all cool and badass. Then when they hit the ground, he lands on the cop. cock out sorry oh no hey lady
Starting point is 00:05:02 yeah sorry Willie Willie revealed dick out oh sorry I'm sorry I'm still learning radio yeah
Starting point is 00:05:08 that's um that's so embarrassing getting pants at any moment is embarrassing yeah but there's like it's an
Starting point is 00:05:14 what would you say this angler is here's the video what would you say that angler it's not a helicopter do you're it was just on a high rise
Starting point is 00:05:20 like someone was a apartment building yeah what was he up there on a that's the other thing he chose to go on
Starting point is 00:05:28 what looks like a weak little patio roof. Yeah, what's he up there for? Because it's not as steep, because it's quite, you know, the shingled roofs in England that are quite steep. So maybe he didn't want to, like, get up there because he would have slipped off. He sounds like a lameo all around. 48 hours is a good amount of time on the...
Starting point is 00:05:44 Yeah, I know. On the land, right? Well, choose a bit of roof. It's a 40-hour famine, isn't it? He's just basically done the 40-hour famine. Yeah, and who did he raise money for? Yeah. The N-Podcast Network.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Now there is Binghampton University, which I've never heard of. I've heard of Bingham having a degree from Binghamham. Binghamham. Bingham. Yeah, because there's a Bingham University, right? Yeah. I'm pretty sure. And there's a Birmingham.
Starting point is 00:06:09 A degree of fine arts from Binghampton. Binghampton University. It's a state university of New York. They have done a study into digital amnesia. Digital amnesia. I've got amnesia of the physical brain. And you talked about this. I do this as well.
Starting point is 00:06:25 I'll take a photo of a car park level. Always. So you know what number. And it's the same car park I go on all the time. I'm like B1 or whatever. And then I'll take that and then maybe the block if it's a long one. The hotel door? Always.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Because you always forget what, you might remember you're on floor 5 but then which one. Yeah. And then when you take the card out of the sleeve, it doesn't say it on it. Correct. Exactly. And I've had a couple of drawings. They've done a study into some research and they say that taking a photo or taking a screenshot of something to remember doesn't help you remember it.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Is it because you're passing on the responsibility? To the phone. You're like, it's on there, I don't need to remember that. Release. I know where it is, should I need to record? Yeah, and I wonder if that's the same if you go to a concert and you're taking a video. Why never watch them again?
Starting point is 00:07:13 I know, you never watch them again. Yeah, rather than like absorbing with your eyes, in the moment, being in the moment, experiencing the music. Yeah. As music was created to be, received. It's known as photo taking impairment the effect and it occurs. Just basically like we said because you just leave it over.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Yeah, you leave it over to the camera, the phone. I try to practice because I know Alzheimer's slimy grip is coming for me. I try to practice repetition. Right. So I'll go 514-514, 514-514. I literally had to remember to turn off the hose last night. And I walked into the house thinking about it and I started saying out of turn off the tap, turn off the tap, turn off the tap, turn off the tap, turn off. off the tap. My daughter said I was losing my mind. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They're like, what?
Starting point is 00:07:57 And I was like, wait, turn off the tap, turn off the tap. Until I'd turned off the tap, because I know if I walk into the house thinking turn off the tap, the tap's not getting turned off. Mine's, uh, if I've used the oven and I know I'm going out, I'll turn off the oven, turn off at the wall and I'll say, the oven's off at the wall. I don't live with anyone, but I'll say, it's like, so I can say it and it's real rather than just my brain, accepting that my brain's going to remember it. But I'm, I'm bad with the screenshots. Yeah, well, don't bother. Don't bother. Don't But then when you forget your car park, you go onto your phone and it's there. So do bother.
Starting point is 00:08:28 But the car park's something you don't really need to remember. No. Whereas a live concept, you're wanting. The Z&M Podcast Network. Pop to Spotlight because I'm working on my craft projects. Here we go. And over-ordered on some yarn. And rather than being wasteful, I was like, I've got the receipt.
Starting point is 00:08:44 I'm going to take the unopened yarn back. Wow. Hang on a second. You were at Spotlight. Did you buy me the big Googly eyes for my... Shit! Oh my gosh. I literally was in the googly eyes section
Starting point is 00:08:54 and I was like, I'm supposed to buy googly eyes for something and I couldn't remember. Yeah, because I want to put those giant googly eyes on my robot vacuum cleaner. Yeah, great on you. So it looks like it's human. I'm going back, so I will next time. Because I literally walked... Yes, yeah, I walked past the googly eyes and I was like,
Starting point is 00:09:10 why is that ringing a bell? I was supposed to be buying Googly eyes for someone and I didn't grab a pack. Anyway, so I went to Spotlight, and I was in Henderson in West Auckland. And I was like, do you know what I've been doing lately just to sort of, because I'm, you know, having a bit of a slower routine,
Starting point is 00:09:25 I've been up just popping into the op shops. I'm having some good finds and whatnot. I love an op shop. Yeah. Got a good eye for things. Had a great day in the op shops yesterday, and I found this ceramic vase that is like a type of ceramic that I've been collecting for a while.
Starting point is 00:09:39 And blah, blah, blah. Anyway, so the vase is there. Is it another ceramic that looks like fruit or vegetables? Yeah. It is. It is. The type of ceramic is called Majolica, but it's like it's a way that they do it.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Anyway, so I get home yesterday. And I was like, wow, jackpot hath been hit. Did you find another taxidermy piece of crap? No, no. By the way, did you see the story? Somebody purchased a foxhead. And this is in the UK. I have a fox head.
Starting point is 00:10:08 It was 50 pounds. They got it. But it's apparently worth $60,000 because it's an extinct tiger. Whoa. From like way back. That's ugly. That's ugly.
Starting point is 00:10:20 It's ugly as all hell What is it? It's worth New Zealand It's worth like $120,000 On market No, mine are just What kind of extinct tiger is it It's not the Tasmanian tiger
Starting point is 00:10:32 It is Well it was, they thought it was a fox head The true identity Was discovered It's a Thassoline head Yeah, Tasmanian tiger Yeah right, okay Putting out fire
Starting point is 00:10:47 With Thasselene That's a David Bowie Stupid reference. Sorry about that. Yeah. Yeah, so it's a Thassilene. It's worth, if you've got one of these, or you know some old person or some deranged taxidemic collector. Sorry, friend.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Sorry, friend. Then, yeah, it could be worth a lot of money. No taxidermy for me yesterday. Apparently the last known Thasseline. Am I saying that, right? Yeah, and it died. It was in the Tasmania Zoo. Well, I've been looking this morning on train me at a cobra.
Starting point is 00:11:18 We'll come back to that. Of course you have. So anyway, so this style of ceramic I was really stoked about it because I have some more and I was looking at it. I was like, oh, I'll just have a little look on trade me to see if there's any more majolica ceramics. Stumbling around ceramics, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:30 the algorithm's feeding me things and I find the greatest thing I've ever seen in my life. It's from the 1980s, from a Japanese ceramic house. And it is a soup serving vessel, right? Just for the kitchen. Soup serving vessel. I just don't have enough soup to warrant. a specific vessel.
Starting point is 00:11:51 It is. It's a bowl or a pot, you know. It's a three-parter. You have a platter on the bottom. You have the vessel itself and a ladle. It stacks. It stacks. The plate on the bottom...
Starting point is 00:12:04 We won't be able to because the plate on the bottom, I'm about to show you, but the plate on the bottom, to describe it, has ceramic vegetables around it. Oh, yeah. She loves that. I collect glass and ceramic fruit and vegetables. The ladle handle is an asparagus.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Oh, good. And the actual soup vessel is a full pig. It's a pig. Haley, that is terrible. This is the best thing I've ever bought in my entire life. Look at that. That is a pig. And you open them up and you fill him with soup
Starting point is 00:12:34 and you ladle them out with asparagus. Yeah, okay. Look at it. That's amazing. So you purchased this. Yeah, he's got asparagus and an apple in his mouth. Do you dare ask how much you paid for this? It's not about the money.
Starting point is 00:12:46 So that's the plate without the pig on it? It's got carrots, turnips, asparagus. And it's all ceramic. It's all ceramic and the majorical style. I thought she had good taste. This is incredible. Carwin's shaking her. This is amazing.
Starting point is 00:13:00 I don't know where it goes. Like, what's the aesthetic? I think center. I think center table piece. Right, okay. Look at this. Right. How's that saving going for your reno?
Starting point is 00:13:11 I never said I was saving, did I? She never made that financial argument. I think she did make that claim on the radio. You found this in a West. Auckland. No, no, this one I found on Trad May. Oh, this is on Tradmai. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:13:24 And immediately purchased. After I caught the West Auckland Op Shop Bar. Wait, so where's that got to come from? Auckland. Oh, okay, I thought it was just giving big Herman the German. You've purchased something in Christchurch and... Yeah. Say the list is now, I am going to need your help.
Starting point is 00:13:37 This is from Gore. No, it's phenomenal. I can't wait to fill him with soup. What kind of soup? I mean, he's asparagus heavy. Can you even make a sparragic. You don't want chunk in the bits. It's going to be a runy soup.
Starting point is 00:13:48 A runy soap. A runy soap. A tomato or a pumpkin. Lovely. The ZAM Podcast Network. ZM's Fletch, One and Haley. From your local community Facebook page, this is the top set. No, stop around here.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Oh, he's good. He's good. I could explain what's been happening over the last hour. It would be lost on you. Just know that Fletch is in his prime right now. Like, Captain Al Captain. Like the last 50 minutes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:15 He's really proven why he's the best of the business. Now, yesterday it was the lovely Benet. And look, he wouldn't even take a compliment. He's straight on to the next thing. He's like business, he's got his eye on the clock. Benny's been announced for Rhythm and Vines and has done the media rounds and has hinted. Rhythm and Alps. Rhythm and Alps.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Rhythm and Alps. Rhythm and Alps. And he talked about Rhythm and Vines. Yeah. Yes. Look, if it's Alps or it's Vines. Hamilton's got neither. We've very excited.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Hamilton's zero of both. We're very excited. We announced the Rhythm and Alps line up yesterday. Rhythmalps.com.com. Z for there for your tickety. Wickedese is this one of my most favorite spots, Cadrona Valley.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Yeah. In this country, it's so lovely. Yeah. But she was interviewed yesterday, and the topic went on to, what's going to happen when it leaves,
Starting point is 00:15:04 when Rhythm and Vines leaves Gizborn. Waiohick Estate, down in Gisbon, and she kind of gave Hamilton the nod. It might be happening in Toronto. Yeah, that's kind of what she alluding to. Yeah. It's quite central.
Starting point is 00:15:17 I thought Topol would be a great spot for it, Because you get your well and you get your wellingtons, you get your Auckland's beautiful. There's the lake, there's the swimming, there's the, it's nice and hot. And there's like, there's the Kaimano were horses. And there's some accommodation if you don't want to go in a tent. Yeah. Yeah. It'll literally go stay at the quest or something.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Well, she reckons Hamilton. So I've got the top six places to camp in Hamilton for a rhythm and vines. Number six on the list. It's got to be the botanical gardens. Oh, we're not having, no, we're not having those gardens. We're not having those. People ruined the lovely. The ruckus people, he said as he sort of like ushered away the peasants.
Starting point is 00:15:56 We've all been born. We know what those 18-year-olds get up to when they have three cans. We're on the fornicating in the fern house. God no. Not in the Egyptian set up. We're not having that. Maybe not then. The giant wheelbarrow ruined.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Exactly. Yeah. Imagine they'll be bloody. Oh, look at the trees moving. Hallucinating. They'll freak out. They'll burn down the movie trees. Okay, next one. Number five on the list of the top six places to camp for rhythm and vines in Hamilton.
Starting point is 00:16:24 Sacred Heart, girls high school. Oh, that doesn't make sense in the hall. Sports field. I want the sports field, yeah, okay. You could go to die over there. Or you could go inside the hall. You could go to die as a bunch of bitches. Whoa. As I drew my line in my sand, I'm a sacred heart, you know, as a Catholic boy.
Starting point is 00:16:39 I had decided to decide. Have you in Morringsville? Even the Flash Catholics from Morrisville still went to the Catholic schools in Hamilton. Oh, did that? Yeah, Sin John's with the boys. Flash Catholics? sake you. Look at those
Starting point is 00:16:50 Flash Catholics over there. The rich Catholics. But not Dio. Hmm. Number four on the list of the top six places to camp for R&V in Hamilton. The Waikato Hospital Car Park. Oh, okay. Mind you, if they charge you the same hourly rate,
Starting point is 00:17:03 they charge people going for cancer treatment. Yeah. It will cost your goddamn fortune. Yeah. It will cost you a fortune. They got spare beds there. You could just pop in. Owie, owie.
Starting point is 00:17:15 Famously, famously shortened beds. Okay. Well, especially now, we've got the flu. All this flu going right. Huge flu, eh? Yeah, everyone's slain. Late flu. We haven't even accounted for the incoming bird flu.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Oh, I don't want that either. Just take me now. Number three on the list of the top six places to camp. The top six places to camp for R&V and Hamilton. Garden Place. Right in the middle of town there. Well, it's in the name, isn't it? Garden.
Starting point is 00:17:41 Beautiful. I've been to Garden Place. It's mostly cobblestones in like bricks and tiles now. There's not a lot of garden. Great. It is weird. I grew up calling this place Garden Place but it's not like really garden. It's no green rain.
Starting point is 00:17:55 Yeah, these are the odd tree. Yeah. Hard under sleep. Good for your back though. Yeah. Sleeping on a nice firm surface. Yeah, it is good for you. Number two on the list of the top six places to camp for R&V in Hamilton.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Claudeon Showgrounds where I think it probably will be held should it happen in Hamilton. I've marched there a number of times. Good place. And again, this isn't anything official. This is just Benny yesterday saying In an interview this is where she thinks You imagine people listening to Hamilton now
Starting point is 00:18:22 The mayor's like The mayor would be stoked Would you? What? Would you be stoked to have it? Hamilton's pretty quiet over summer Because I was thinking about Topol Super busy over summer
Starting point is 00:18:33 Because it's such a summer hot spot Hamilton is a little bit quiet Could do with the boost Yeah nice And number one on the list of the top six places To Camp R&V in Hamilton Ian and Christine's farm My parents' place
Starting point is 00:18:44 Are you offing that up officially? Oh my God, that's too far to walk after that. No, well, to be totally honest, if you ask them nice, I reckon if you were, if you're flirted with them a little bit, I reckon Dad would probably give you a ride. You get the girlies out there and there's summer short shorts. He'd be like, oh, I've got room for 100 of you, all right. And your mum will be rolling your eyes. Good luck to you. And it's someone to be like, you're only picking girls.
Starting point is 00:19:04 And he's like, yeah, well, the rest of you can't you? Oh, we can't have these. Girls all get cold. Yeah, lovely ladies. They're wearing. It's going to get bloody freezing cold. That's the day stop sucks. Play Zat M's Fletch, Vortch.
Starting point is 00:19:15 and Haley. So, Australia have voted their favourite TV shows of all time. And we thought, we must do our very own list here. New Zealand's favourite TV shows of all time. Yeah. Oh, Fly to the Concords. Flight of court. But pitched to New Zealand.
Starting point is 00:19:31 And New Zealand said no. So they took it to America to HBO. Still a New Zealand show? Yeah. Okay, so just quickly, the Australian list of their all-time favorite TV shows, Kath and Kim, was number one. Oh, look at more. Look at Moy.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Followed by Home and Away. Great show. Actually, really great. And launched the career of so many amazing Hollywood stars. There was number three there, third most popular show, a country practice. That was 80s into the early 90s. I remember. I remember as a kid, my nan watched it.
Starting point is 00:20:02 Yeah, and Blue Heelers, I remember. Blue Heelers was a classic. Didn't Blue Heelers have a cranker of a theme song? Yes. Pack to the Rafters. Oh, Packs the Rafters. McLeod's Daughters, All Saints. Bluey is number eight on the list.
Starting point is 00:20:15 Well deserved. Neighbors at nine, which is surprising. Yeah, Neighbors isn't as good as homeowner. And Countdown. Oh, the game show. It was a music show. Oh, music show. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:20:28 So that is kind of what Australians voted as their all-time favorite TV shows. God, Australia's got some good ones like Wentworth. They do. Yeah, that's not on the list, eh? Yeah. It's so good. Okay, so. Led by Kiwi.
Starting point is 00:20:40 We need New Zealand's all-time favorite TV shows. We need you to text us now. 9-696. What is your all-time favorite New Zealand TV show? Flight of the Concordes. Brotown. Wellington paranormal. I saw AI generated Brow Town the other day.
Starting point is 00:20:55 Bray. What? They took a Brow Town scene and I just fed it into AI and it kind of made it modern animation or... And I was just like, I'd forgotten about Brow Town. Yeah. Are we going to do limited series? Because we do those well.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Top of the Lake. Top of the Lake, yep. Outrageous Fortune, Broken Wood Mysteries. Country Calendar, Shorty Streets. It's obviously in there. Country Cowden Boy, obviously. Golden Boy, obviously. Are we doing scripted or are we just doing shows in general?
Starting point is 00:21:19 Any shows. Any shows? Any shows? Oh, 6 o'clock news? Yeah. Golden a minute. Food in a minute. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:25 No, that was an ad. That was an avatorial. It wasn't a television show. Golden Boy. No. No one's saying Golden Boy, Haley. I've heard it's. Stop promoting your short run, short-lived set on.
Starting point is 00:21:37 Have you been paying attention? Great Kiwi Bakeoff? Seven days. Again, no one's like your shows. But seven days? Seven days is legendary. That's a Kiwi classic. What now?
Starting point is 00:21:48 What now? Who didn't call 0-800-O-1-1-1-1 on a Sunday morning and get the too busy call and just like being really upset? One of my proudest achievers. My marching team got on what now. Did that? We did a little display, you know? Did you? I could never get through on 0-800-O-1-W1.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Really? She went on Wattie and we went on What Now once and we got gunged. What about? Oh, no. Shiborna or Ketty was worth getting up at whatever. I don't care how old you were. Vaughn, you weren't even a child. No, and I wasn't.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Play school? It was Australian, but our New Zealand one, we had, um, Manu. Manu, yeah, Manu, Jamma, a big, Ted, little Ted and Humpty. What about Lotto? What about the Lotto draw? Yeah, that's some legendary episodes. Great for some, for sure. Okay, well, I mean, it's going to be, it's not going to be an official scientific
Starting point is 00:22:35 study here, but if you text a 9-696, what is your vote for New Zealand's all-time best TV show? Did we even mention Eating Media Lunch and Havoc and Newsboy? No. Being Eve from back in the day. Being Eve was great because New Zealand just didn't do like tween or teenage shows.
Starting point is 00:22:53 The tribe. The tribe had many, many, many, many seasons. What about Power Rangers? Because that was technically filmed here. Yeah, no, it was an American production with... Yep. I only just learned about Power Rangers recently as all the fight scenes
Starting point is 00:23:08 McFail and Gatsby. The Japanese show. Every time they were in the helmets and they're fighting and stuff. That's from the original Japanese shot. Is it any Nick Sampson and Kim Crossman weren't actually doing the fights? They put the helmets on but then the fights were from the Japanese show. Goodness, man. Outrangeous fortune. There's so many.
Starting point is 00:23:24 0,800 dials at em. You can text through 9-6-96. And then we'll come back next and I think we've got to somehow order all of these text messages. Sounds like a Vaughn problem. Sounds like a Vaughn thing. Yeah. I'm dealing with the text. I can do that. Educators. Oh, Wellington Paranorm. There's so many. Now, right now we're talking about the best
Starting point is 00:23:42 TV shows of all time in New Zealand, because Australia's compiled their list. Yeah, Kath and Kim is Australia's number one favourite TV show of all time. Iconic. Yep, and completely agree. Going through this, I'm ready to watch Catherine again, and I'm ready to watch Outrageous Fortune again. I've got some theme songs to support our bit. Okay, great. Okay, text messages coming in.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Vaughn, what have we got? I'm currently compiling the list to see what is the most popular. Worth a shout-out, though, somebody, I assume Clark Gaford's messaged in here. that one where Clark Gaford moves houses. No, because he screws us every morning. Yeah, I'm trying to get out from Out West. Yeah, I'm trying to get in. There's a stop and there's orange lights and there's a big... A little behind the scenes for you.
Starting point is 00:24:22 Every morning when Vaughn and I come late because there's a house moving, we always take a picture of it and send to the group chat saying, God damn, Clark Gave. I don't think he's hosting the show anymore. He's not even hosting it. No, no. Andy Alice did the last series, eh? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:37 I mean, by far and away, outrageous fortune. on the text machine. Hang on. Leave it with me. Leave it with me. Leave it with me. Someone said Tuck's Wonder Dogs used to tickle a special part of my brain.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Yeah, it's pretty good. Yeah, learning about the dogs. Okay, so I've cranked it. I've screenshot everything. I've cranked it into our friend Claude who's compiled the list. Okay. Top five. Almighty Johnson's.
Starting point is 00:25:04 Oh, really? Wow. Yeah, that was good, man. I forgot about that. They were the great gods of... The Nordic. Nordic gods. And they're living in New Zealand
Starting point is 00:25:16 in a flat for some reason. That's right. Police 10-7. And at 4? If you recognize this man. We're looking for this outrageous, bastard mongles. They should just let him say what he was really thinking? I know.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Country calendar. Oh, hang on. Leave me with country calendar. I've got what now going at the moment, but let me with a bit of country calendar. It's this. Yeah. And country calendar is to always
Starting point is 00:25:42 literally the top show in New Zealand. It's the most watch show. It's the longest running. You should go, if you are interested, you should go and watch those really old episodes. They've gone through the archive and they've uploaded it to celebrate its anniversary. There are some phenomenal stories in there. There's some problematic
Starting point is 00:25:58 old boys. I don't think they've uploaded those ones. Be careful, Fletch. I don't know if this is the explicit version of the country calendar thing. Drops an F halfway through. And not the F you're thinking. No, no, no, no, no. The bad one. So Country Calendar and Third
Starting point is 00:26:12 Susie Cato. And at two. So anything's Susie, Susie's World, Susie Cato's TV shows. But an outrageous fortune by a mile. Other just outside, What Now, Shauna Street, someone's in the Ob Sports Cafe. Classic panel show. Back in the day, yeah. Can you bring up, Mike?
Starting point is 00:26:33 Someone's recorded this off of the television. I really apologize about that. It's out time. Keep me together. It's time to see. Say hello, good day, K to Pea here quare. Good stuff.
Starting point is 00:26:45 Under the Mountain. Got a couple of... I remember that, yeah. That was so good. That was a good. Morris G book? Yeah. The slug things lived under Rangatoto,
Starting point is 00:26:53 is that the story of Under the Mountain? Shout out to whoever message in Pulp Comedy, which was a... What was it? It was stand-up. But there was also like an interwoven story towards the end of it about the behind-the-scenes of the comedy club.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Of the comedy, yeah. And included Tykei and Tidey restans Cal Wilson, you and Gilmore, Mike King. Yeah. Back in that. And there was some sketch show. There was a show called Schizzo. And then people were like, you can't call it that because of schizophrenia.
Starting point is 00:27:21 So they just changed it to skits. And that had Jermaine Clement. Tycho Waititi was on there. DeFane. Someone messaged in Billy T. James show. I mean, now that's a classic. That's going back. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:32 So I was it, what about Brotown? Yeah, Brotown. Somebody said, What was Browtown made famous? Was it Scucks? Brod only one saying. Yeah, I think Skucks. You know what it's Skux?
Starting point is 00:27:45 Might have been. Skucks was floating around, but it might have taken it international. The strip, somebody mentioned, which was a story about a woman who got, her husband left her and she bought a Wellington male strip club. That was a really good show. Yeah, it was good. That was back in the day. Someone said, yeah, just flight of the concords camp because technically an overseas production.
Starting point is 00:28:06 Yeah. And you said, no. Famously, that was one of the things that were like, we slept on that, didn't we? Nick said Not Even Our was the Yeah, not even out That's right Thank you
Starting point is 00:28:17 Not even our So many messages And I was an extra on Almighty John Since I played the guy at the bar Who picked up Keisha Castle Hughes My claim to fame But also the thing that helped me Realise very quickly
Starting point is 00:28:26 That I'm a shit actor Yeah I've still got the clip somewhere And my wife gives me crap about it Every time it comes out amongst friends Amazing That's good stuff Hello there
Starting point is 00:28:36 Hi Do you want to go on a date with me Hello Keisha I mean, whatever your character's name is. Someone said Go Girls better be on there. That was great. And then they did a return. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:47 They did Go Girls and then they did a later return. My friend Leon was on. That's right. Ty was on and yeah. That was good. We've made some bloody good choice. John would have been someone messaged in. That was my first...
Starting point is 00:28:56 It was your first job. No one's mentioned Melody Rules. Oh my God. There's an amazing podcast series. Did R&Z do it? Yeah. About Melody Rules. If you've never heard about it, New Zealand tried to do like this sitcom.
Starting point is 00:29:08 And it was just like... Like a canned, like... after sitcom with no money. She slams the door and the wall goes because it's made of cardboard. I think you can watch an episode of it on their old, is it NZ on-air website or film archive or something? And then there was a podcast about it.
Starting point is 00:29:27 Yeah. Who played Melody on Melody Rules? I don't know, but Jody Ruma was in it. Jody Ruma was in Melody Rules and it's just phenomenal. We really go to a whole time. Taskmaster. Yeah, do you know we do a, very good taskmaster.
Starting point is 00:29:41 Do a great taskmaster. And Taskmaster UK says that we're one of the best in the world. Oh, look at that. Yeah. Look at that. Crazy Bakeoff hasn't come up. Play ZM's Flash forune and Haley. Let's bring him in.
Starting point is 00:29:54 Come on, Pax. For God's sake, we're literally live on here. Don't say anything problematic. We're live. Come in, you're bloody late. Am I? Yeah, do you want this one here? Yeah, get on that mic there.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Am I? My email said 735. What's the time? 730. Oh, no. Is five minutes early, five minutes late? On time is late. If you're early, you're late.
Starting point is 00:30:16 You're never going to make it in this industry. Do you want some headphones? You're good to raw dog. They're not plugged in, but I'll chuck them on. Just to feel the part. You've done radio before. Where do I shove this? In that hole.
Starting point is 00:30:27 Pax has actually done radio before. Can you believe it? I used to work in this industry. Yeah. How long did that last? God, it went well. He didn't like the text machine. You didn't like the text machine?
Starting point is 00:30:36 Yeah, they were mean to me. Do you know when I took this job? They said bring the old guy back. Yeah. When I took this job, Pax said to me, don't read the text machine. No, I don't. They honestly don't. They're like, we love you. They think I'm awesome. I'm like, oh my God, what?
Starting point is 00:30:48 They were so mean to you. That's crazy. They didn't say racial slurs to you? Crazily not. It's so annoying. It's so annoying. I keep reminding them a Māori. No racism. They're like, yeah, we love that about you.
Starting point is 00:31:03 Yeah, they're like, T'Haka. Kiyahua. Hey, maudora. Hi, Pax. Now, you're here to talk about a couple of things. Can I just say, what time did you go? expect me. Well, on air at 731, which it is now, which would be a 725 tonight.
Starting point is 00:31:16 I'll show you my email after this. Listen, you're here, and this has brought a great energy. Thank you. Now, we've literally been talking about great TV shows of all time in New Zealand, because Australia can be the top of Australia's list. Our text machine said outrageous fortune number one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:33 What would be your... Are you doing on? For God's sake. Oh, my God. No matter Georgie famous, I mean to. God. We weren't going to save the station It's not the killer your skin, bro It's your playing attitude
Starting point is 00:31:45 You're just you're an asshole Sorry, sorry, I'm so sorry I shouldn't have said an ass I'll say an ass I'll say it again, I'm so sorry We're talking TV shows Yeah, outrageous fortune is absolutely up there Something so mean to me by the way Because you invited that
Starting point is 00:31:58 Is it a racial slur? No, no Is it a Pakistani racial slur? Just that they wish that the show Never changed anyway Arguably We've got the funniest list of this We do have the funniest list of us
Starting point is 00:32:07 their crack up. TV shows, we're talking your TV show Settling. Yeah. Which you've written with your friend and collaborator Hannah Marshall. I did. It's out now.
Starting point is 00:32:17 It's out now. Tonight will be, if you watch television, if you watch linear television, your dentures are in the bathroom. Hey, excuse me, Vaughn still watches linear television.
Starting point is 00:32:28 I'll crank a little bit of that. Do you? But I watch it via the app on the smart TV. Yeah, that's not. That's not what. I took the aerial off the roof. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:36 That's not what I mean. But, I mean, if you want to watch it through that medium, then it's on Tonight at 830. Okay. Or you can, on three, or you can go on the Three Now app and watch a chunk of four episodes that already exist on the app. So in that chunk of four episodes, I believe my episode. Numero three-o. Numero-thri-o is up, because I did receive a couple of messages. It is up.
Starting point is 00:33:00 Oh, boy, it's up. Okay, so firstly, tell us what the show's about. Yes, yes, yeah. Yeah, so the show is about Hannah and I's character, Sal and Harry, who are two 30-something-year-olds, mid-30-something-year-olds, whose lives are not going particularly great, especially in the love arena of their life. Right.
Starting point is 00:33:20 And when they were teenagers, they made the classic pack that a lot of us have made or have seen others make where we say, hey, if we're 35 or 40 and we're still single, let's get together and get married. I did that with my best day. Yeah, yeah. So they get to 35, they see each other at a high school reunion, their lives are pretty average, and they decide, and they remember the pact and they decide.
Starting point is 00:33:41 And after some drunken shenanigans, they realize they made the pact and then the next day they do it. Yeah. And they get married. Wow. Without love, without any like romantic spark, without any like, oh my God, I need you in my life. Just practical. Let's do this. It'll make our life better.
Starting point is 00:33:57 We can buy a house. It'll get my mom off my back, all that stuff. Okay. So into Haley Sprow. Enter all of Haley Sprow I get an email Um Uh
Starting point is 00:34:08 Will I actually audition for a bigger roll? So you didn't get it Any through it? And he chucked me a bone Being like, oh come on, bacon Sure on this pig Eh come on Basically he said
Starting point is 00:34:22 Which ones of my friends Have a honk and set of tits That we can get on camera Yeah Sprow leader the rescue It was you and one other person Yeah Oh yeah
Starting point is 00:34:30 Yeah Yeah Yeah I don't want to say the name. Okay, yeah, I don't have enough of here. So, and I get the brief, and it is to come and be a hookup, like a Tinder hookup date with you. Yes. She's a sexually liberated individual who is basically coming in.
Starting point is 00:34:50 And Pax had heard about, you know, post-breakups, brow. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We all did. Yeah. She's been a show about it. She's doing the rounds. Yeah, she is doing the rounds. And I come in and I'm your day and I'm there to just sort of spice things up for you.
Starting point is 00:35:02 As a newly married man, in a loveless. Yeah, I mean, I don't think I'm giving away too much. The hook of the episode is that the person who hooks me up with this person is my wife. Because we're in a loveless marriage. It's a marriage based on friendship because we're friends in high school. But she's like, hey, I'm going to be your ultimate wingman and I'm going to hook you up. And then enter Haley Sproul. So I get an email saying, you know, how much of yourself, will you, how much of yourself, will
Starting point is 00:35:32 you be comfortable and I said you know underwear's fine they were like yeah it's like broadcast television noise you're bloody no nipples yeah no nipples no fadge and I was like wait so you're out there with your boo and your bra so I go to this fitting and they're like it's got to be like overtly she is a provocative woman and this boost year which I will say
Starting point is 00:35:52 I had to thumb the girls into to make sure there was no nipple and we had an intimacy coordinator on the show to work with Pax and I but Pax and I are... For those who don't know that kind of sounds
Starting point is 00:36:07 a bit random and intimacy coordinator is there they're not there to make sure that you're feeling real like you're not there to increase the intimacy she's just there to step in in case you get a bono over Haley
Starting point is 00:36:17 Well I mean that's part of the job yeah that's part of the job they usually will choreograph the scene so that the two actors you know it's business it's about safety
Starting point is 00:36:28 Pax and I are so close we have a game called Find the Nipple we poke each other's nipple and be like, you missed her. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we'd said to her, we're fine without this. So her only top on set was to call cut when my nipples came out. Because they are sitting just in here and she'd be like,
Starting point is 00:36:43 we'll go again. We might need to go again on that one. Let me go again. Anyway, so I burst my shirt open and you'll see. Wow. Mood show sproul on top of Mood Show pants. I mean, Haley and I are very close and we spent a lot of time together on the set of bake-off playing.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Which, by the way, got no votes for Best New Zealand Show on our text machine. Really? Second time it's been rude to me today. Got a couple of racial slurs though. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. First mads, then packs, Jesus. Tell that brown man to stop eating cakes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:13 We are very close, and we played Find the Nipple, which is like you only play when you have a closeness. Yeah. But even there was a moment in the scene where Haley's character rips open my shirt with her bare hands and then rips open her own shirt with her bare hands, or is it the other way around? but my character is meant to look down at her chest and go whoa
Starting point is 00:37:33 and the first take we did it was just a real whoa I haven't seen Haley for a while and I was like whoa put on some way you're all mostly gone to the tip time of us okay well good casting that's really a reason to watch alone isn't it for a lot of people let alone the great writing even if you want to just go to that episode skip forward a bit find that one
Starting point is 00:37:56 find that one you shouldn't have told them what episode it was it's in there somewhere it's in there Somewhere. Oh, I come back. Yeah, yeah. It's episode. She comes back, Eps 6. So it is.
Starting point is 00:38:04 Booty out. It is on three now. Three now. Go on three now on the app. Watch the apps or wait like a crazy person and watch them on linear. But do whatever you, please. Now before you go, I did you a favor. I mean, you paid me.
Starting point is 00:38:22 But we need a favor from you. The nation loves Pax Society, unless you were listening to you on Georgia. Fetka. And texting them to the Georgia Fem text machine. A very specific like 0.8%
Starting point is 00:38:34 of the country's population hates me. If you love electronic dance music you might not like Pax. That's okay. If you're a tradie you might not like Pax.
Starting point is 00:38:43 So currently sucking down a white monster. And you're thinking that man that's in the spot. You probably don't like Pax. Well next Friday Pax on the 28th on the 28th that's
Starting point is 00:38:55 daffet all day. Yes and we're running our ANZ donation station. We're raising money. raising money, we're wanting to raise so much money and what we're doing is we're doing the Sky Tower drop. We are getting pulled up to 53 stories high and then we're getting dropped down.
Starting point is 00:39:09 That's us, that's Fletch and Vaughn, that's Fletch and Vaughn. Brian Clinton, I mean you're Fletch and Vaughn. And some of our... Are you Fletch and Vaughn? Yeah, yeah. That's you guys. Yeah, I think you'll John would be next. We are asking our lovely, successful, famous friends
Starting point is 00:39:24 if they will come and do the jump with us on the day so that we don't have to do it. all morning. And all day. How many times will you guys jump? Every $3,000 we raise. So it's actually up to the donations. So you could potentially jump a lot.
Starting point is 00:39:41 Again and again and again and again. So if we go from the bottom, you go up 53 stores and you drop down. If in that time someone's donated another $3,000, you might as well just stay up. You might as well just stay up. Can you explain to me what the drop is? So it's new, the new sky ride is you start at the bottom of the sky tower. You're in like a kind of a harned. hammock, not fanged, sitting.
Starting point is 00:40:01 They pull you up. 53 stories to the top. And then you kind of hover there, and then it's a controlled descent. Control. Control descent is the nice way I was saying fall. Control. Can we lock you in for a spot packs next Friday? Cancer.
Starting point is 00:40:18 Raising money for daffodal day. One in three Kiwis affected by cancer. Look, as a son of refugees, I've been avoiding stress my whole life. I've been avoiding trauma. But not the stress and trauma. trauma of a cancer diagnosis. And that's what we're raising money for.
Starting point is 00:40:33 Got you. See you next Friday? We'll see you next Friday. All right. Yeah. Nice. Check out Settling. Yeah, if you want to make an instant $3 donation to the Cancer Society,
Starting point is 00:40:46 just take to donate to 305 right now. Easy. Thanks, Pax. Check out Settling. It's a very good show. Pax is a very talented man. Thank you. Tell you what in the tartars.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Go look at Helis Buba. Play ZN's Fletchhorn and Haley Our listeners love it when we have our newsreader Brin in studio They absolutely love it And we were like, oh we'll get them in But we couldn't find him And so we've got Cousin, was it Cousin brand or brother brand?
Starting point is 00:41:17 I've actually rebranded Have you? Yeah Rebranded Psychic brands in Yeah What's your new rebranding? You can call me Jackie O
Starting point is 00:41:26 Currently a name not being used in radio. Exactly. And also a bit woo-woo like me. Bit woo-woo. And you wanted some woo-woo music? Yeah, go on. Have you got something there?
Starting point is 00:41:37 Yeah, I do, actually. And yeah, Spotify, okay? Yeah, it's Cash's Seminole hit Die Young. Everybody taps into their psychic powers. The Casher. Oh, I'm feeling it. Have you got a bit of Enia? No, okay, I can get a bit.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Enia. Oh, Eni would be good. I got this. Yes. But you're right. Nies. You can't do it. Why have you got a lab?
Starting point is 00:41:57 Well, I've had to DIY a, Himalayan salt lamp. I found a lava lamp in the studio next door. It's not lava, and some Himalayan pink fine table salt from the kitchen. That's Tony Streets. That's Tony Streets. Thank you Tony Street for that. Now the reason I believe you're visiting our psychic brand. Sorry, Jackie, however you want to be referred to. Yeah, I self-identify. It's because we have somehow landed. We've been talking about the absolute
Starting point is 00:42:23 diabolical dating scene in New Zealand at the moment. Care to comment? No, you're absolutely right. It is diabolical. You did go on that date with the eldest psychic woman that died. May she rest in peace? Yeah, yeah, yeah. How old was she again?
Starting point is 00:42:39 Oh, she would have been pushing 80. Far out. She's the one who walked sideways like a crab. Yeah, great. And then we've been talking about people doing dire things. She walked sideways like a crab. Why did she walk sideways? Because she had a very bung hip.
Starting point is 00:42:59 So what's one hip was working and she just dragged the other one? Pretty much. You know when you see a crab on the beach? It's going to go like a... Yeah. It's lost to pincar. Okay. Well, she was doing the pincor thing too.
Starting point is 00:43:09 It's a hard way to walk. Yeah. Anyway, and then so people have been turning to things like numerology and oras and all sorts of, you know, numbers. Chakras. What are they angel numbers and stuff? Yeah. And then... Had they just tried being incredibly good looking?
Starting point is 00:43:26 Worked for us. Yeah. Fletch, have you tried it? No, I can't, I can't, yeah. And then during my roasting in which, producer Carwin, I was generously giving her some panadol, she went through and noticed that I had a bag full of expired bloody things, including my Eclipse Mins.
Starting point is 00:43:43 She suggested that my new Eclipse Min's date, the 17th of December, 26, at 503, could be some kind of fortune-telling. And I think I said, even I draw the line here. This is famous Haley Wurber who loves the tingly wing, please, and she said, we think we need psychic brand for this. What does your take on literally taking dating advice from the bottom of a minston? Oh, I'd take anything at this stage.
Starting point is 00:44:08 Absolutely. What do you think then the date 17th of December of December, 26 at 503 could mean? That's my best before, by the way. I'll see what have you got on your calendar there? Well, I've already said I'm going to Guns and Roses that day. That's a Thursday. The 17th is a Thursday, yes. We've got a Marty catch up with our boss.
Starting point is 00:44:26 that's always in there. Guns and roses. Yeah. Oh, that sounds like it's going to be a busy day. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, well, are you getting any psychic connection to that date? I have got, we've got the number one, we've got number seven.
Starting point is 00:44:40 Yeah, that's what makes up 17. He's good. Oh, totally wingly. But if you add one plus seven, what do you get? Eight. Eight. And what is eight? Food.
Starting point is 00:44:50 It's infinity if you put it on the side. Exactly. Oh, that's great. If you put it on the side. Okay, no. Be with. Be with. Okay. So infinity on the 17th. Yep. Now you've got 12.
Starting point is 00:45:04 You've got one and two. Yep. One plus two. It's three. How many people work on the show? Three. Whoa. Three. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:14 It's spooky, isn't it? I'm not quite sure. Just sort of side note. Side note. I'm kind of feeling how you guys feel when I go on Tingly Wingly Wednesday about the ghost stories. Yeah. I know. It's just a scale. You eventually get to somewhere on the spectrum where you're like, Okay, it's bullshit. One plus seven being infinity and three, the 12th of the December being.
Starting point is 00:45:34 Sorry, psychic brand. Sorry, yeah, sorry. Yeah. Continue. Anything from the year 26, 2026, 2 plus 6 is also 8. Yeah. Infinity, infinity. Infinity and infinity.
Starting point is 00:45:45 Infinity. Okay. And the time, 503. Kind of redundant having a second infinity, the first infinity is literally infinity. I'll be honest. Two times infinity is still just infinity. I'm beginning to feel judged. Yeah. Oh, sorry.
Starting point is 00:45:59 No sorry. Well, now I know how Kyle Sanderland's felt when Jackie O went bit woo-woo. Yeah, right. That's radio industry chat there. Yes. Anything from the time, 503? 503.
Starting point is 00:46:12 What's 5 plus 3? Hey, there's another infinity. It's just infinity. So what's going to have? Something that lasts forever? I feel like you're just going to be going around in circles for the rest of your life. Going around in circles?
Starting point is 00:46:27 Yeah. I think what you're picking up on is I'll be in the mosh pit of guns and roses. They do sort of circulate. Yeah. The Himalayan pink fine table salt lamp that I've DIYed here is giving me that energy. That I'm going around in circles for the rest of my life. That's right. Well, famously not.
Starting point is 00:46:44 I've broken a circle. Ricking wants to know if the first infinity is cancelled out by the second infinity. Rather than sort of, does it negate the infinity rather than double it? Yeah, but do you know what else is round and round? A ring. Hussar. Two rings. Two rings.
Starting point is 00:47:01 That's what the A was when we turn there on the side. It's two rings. It's an engagement ring. We've cracked. And then a wedding ring. This is, this is. Oh! We've cracked it.
Starting point is 00:47:11 Is that what was that me to you? The first ring is her promise ring that she takes off because she made a promise to God that she wouldn't have sex before marriage. It was all about me here? And she still kept that promise. She kept, she put that ring down and the second ring is the engagement ring. Sorry, was the second ring based on the idea of keeping the promise of the first. ring? It could also be just a
Starting point is 00:47:30 burger ring and the second ring is the engagement ring. Hang on. Hang on. It's close to Christmas. Can we just tie whore on this a little bit? I'm not getting engaged. Well no, you're not yet but the... The 17th of December. The Mint's tin has said the 17th of December. 9-14
Starting point is 00:47:46 has messaged in 2-Infinity and 3 beyond, so 2 infinity and beyond. Engagement. Toy story. Toy story. It's Buzz light, yeah. Buzz, buzz. Buzz. Right. You just Gosh, it all makes sense. It all makes sense now.
Starting point is 00:48:00 I think you're clutching here. So the 17th of December 26, you think it guns and roses? Yeah. I'm getting engaged. Do you know, there's something I haven't said yet about that date. What? It's my birthday. Wait, maybe this was supposed to be your tin.
Starting point is 00:48:23 Well, I do have my own tin, actually, of Eclipse mints. Everybody's on the mints. Do you know that I'm actually getting some for free So I'll hook you up I go pepperment You go speed What date? What's your date?
Starting point is 00:48:35 I've got So I've got the time here Yeah 8pm On the dot On the dot On the 5.03 they expire 8pm on the 3rd of February
Starting point is 00:48:46 3rd of February Okay let me look at that Third of February That could be the wedding day Haley's wedding day I would get married in summer Quick turnaround No I'm not getting married on a Wednesday
Starting point is 00:48:54 Somebody says you need to go To Guns and Roses dressed up as Whoever Buzz Light has a romantic thing with on toy story But I don't know if he ever really has a romance No, it was Little Bo Peep I think he had a Little Bo Peep So I'm going dressed at Guns and Roses
Starting point is 00:49:09 I'm sorry, was it inappropriate Sounds like it's inappropriate Buzz Light You with Little Bo Peep It was an affair It doesn't sound a bit rude Yeah No I'm going with my new boyfriend But he's not proposing
Starting point is 00:49:22 At Guns and Roses Congratulations to Haley on her upcoming December engagements Shit, no he's not specific Congrats. Sykept Bryn. Thank you so much. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:49:32 Play. That ends. Flesh, Vaughan and Haley. Now, I want to know from you, where's your spot to have a good cry? Not in the house. Somewhere where you go for a good cry.
Starting point is 00:49:44 Oh, that's... Why? I mean, I've had plenty of those. Yeah. So there was a great article about where we're crying in London. The Londoners, man, they're hot, and they're bitching about it. I'm like, you've been so grey and cold this whole time.
Starting point is 00:49:57 Shut up. Anyway, the London is going... Because it's been getting to like 35 degrees. Yeah, it's hot for them. But then it doesn't matter about the weather. People can be sad in any season, can't they? Totally. And crying is so good for you.
Starting point is 00:50:08 I love to cry. Autumn's a nice time to be sad. Yeah. Why, but summer's about... I'm sad all the time. It's so bad. No, autumn, spring, springs. You shouldn't be sad in spring.
Starting point is 00:50:19 Springs about new beginnings. Yeah. Autumn, the mood reflects your sadness. I just love... Yeah, my doctor did say to me when I said to her the other day. Something's wrong with my head. She was like, remember, you do get a bit sand in the winter as I'm doing. Seasonal depression, it's totally a thing.
Starting point is 00:50:32 I do, she's like, that's coming to an end. Anyway, so in London, there was a good debate. Where are we crying? And because apparently you are not a Londoner until you've cried on the tube. Oh, really? And I have a friend who used to catch the tube to work every day to work in some awful school where the kids bullied her. And she cried to and from work.
Starting point is 00:50:48 She got her teacher's license and went to London. She was like, oh, I've heard many people who have recruited that. What did they say to her? They were like real delinquents. Really, and mean, throw things. Call her names. Take knives to school and stuff. Yeah, all sorts.
Starting point is 00:51:04 But yeah, we're crying in the park. We're crying in public, but you're not a London to you've cried on public transport. I've cried on public transport. I've cried to the gym because the class was too hard. And I felt defeated. And I want to know your spots where you go for a good cry. I've got my sad beach. You've got your sad beach.
Starting point is 00:51:19 My sad beach. I go there when I'm feeling sad and need ocean and wind and tears and reflection and headphones and sad music. Yeah. And I'll cry and sometimes I'll... Someone just message and say, my daughter just said, school's a great place to cry at, so I'd probably have a chat about that later.
Starting point is 00:51:34 Yeah. I'd get onto that. Yeah, I get onto that. Well, yeah, people are mean at school too, aren't they? Yeah, they are mean at school, man. But yeah, I've got my sad beach. And I go there when I feel good, but sometimes it's nice...
Starting point is 00:51:46 When I say sad beach, it's like to process emotions. Right. I want to know where you are having your cries. Is it the beach I'm thinking of? Middy-wide. Oh, great beach. Yeah. Especially when the sun's setting.
Starting point is 00:51:56 Yeah. If I'm reflecting, if I'm feeling sad. I've voice memoed you guys from that. A lot last year. I'm at my beach. I'm at my beach. You're at the beach less now, which is nice. I have at the beach less now.
Starting point is 00:52:10 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Nice. Yeah. Don't say the next, but anyway, I've fixed the memory. Anyway, I want to know where are you going for a good cry? Where's your cry spots around town and around New Zealand? And maybe you want to recommend.
Starting point is 00:52:23 Maybe it's a nice lookout. Yeah, mine's Moodywide Beach in the northwest. of Auckland, great. Good, there's wind, it's coastal, kind of ruffles you up, wakes you up a bit. Water is great, pig lakes and stuff. Maybe it says you're walking wardrobe, shut the door and just sit down on the floor.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Yeah. Yeah, man. I love a walking wardrobe. Hiding from the mirror. Watch yourself cry. Yeah. Look yourself in the eye while you cry. God that we're being an undated. Cry spots. 0800 dials at em is the number.
Starting point is 00:52:51 9-696 to text in. Your best spot for a good cry. Now, apparently you are not a Londoner. until you've had a big cry on the tube on the train there. We want to know where is your go-to spot for a good cry, not just like, oh, no, I've broken, you know, oh. Like, I need to release this beast. And, man, I love that, particularly women, we've got our spot
Starting point is 00:53:11 when you know the cathartic healing of a cry. Fletch, the last time you cried? I can't remember. There's a movie, wasn't it? Maybe, yeah. Like, it's just not, yeah, I can't, I'm struggling to record. It's jammed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:24 I'm actually seeing my therapist next week. I think you should come. I think she could unplay her. I think the three of us could really make the most of that hour. I've got a lot to discuss. 20 minutes each. I think I'll just go at the end and be like, I'm fine. 20 minutes, ain't going to touch it.
Starting point is 00:53:39 No, it's going to touch the signs. Rachel do you is 20, you and I, gosh. Right, so where do you go to cry? Here's some messages in. Best place to cry is in your car at the duckies and Macedon. What's the duck ponds? I think they're talking about the duck pond. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:51 That big park in Marston's got the pond. Queen Elizabeth Park Pond. Yes, oh my God, it's so good. Down there you can hire a pedal. boat or rowboat, feed the ducks, or ball your eyes out. Shower's a good one, but the beach with your sunnies on can't be beaten. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:07 And might have just put a little headphone in with some sort of, you know, cat Stevens. A sad soundtrack? Yeah, cold play. Yeah. When are the children go? Who? Which is out of sexy. Might get some people going here.
Starting point is 00:54:20 Oh, yeah. Had a bit of this, had a bit of this. Had a bit of this. Had a bit of this. Had a bit of this. Yeah, let's do it. If you want to cry, if you want to cry, feel free, do it.
Starting point is 00:54:28 I did try this with... Are you kidding me? Father and son by Cat Stevens? No, remember I tried this with Jason Amore though? And he was like, that's not my song. And he wouldn't tell me his crying song. I played him this and he was like unmoved. Like a stone wall. Like a stone wall. What does he not have a farmer?
Starting point is 00:54:41 I even had to touch him and I was like, God, you're like a stone wall. You're like made of stone. All made of stone. It's all right. It's a round here, hard as well. Is around here? Whereabouts does the stone end? That's quite inappropriate. Just stop touching it. Well, we've never talked again.
Starting point is 00:54:55 2-60 said I always have mentee bees at the gym, not intentionally. Oh, at the gym? I guess it's just emotional. Underwater, when my son's having a swimming lesson, I go underwater and I scream and I swear and I cry and no one can hear you and who cares if you look ugly and the tears are disguised. At the pool.
Starting point is 00:55:12 Parent-hot is hard, eh. The car always hits pretty hard. Yeah. Because you get to punch, ever punch the roof of a car? That feels pretty good. God damn it, punch, d'at. I hope you're not, because our cars don't belong.
Starting point is 00:55:25 to us where bass it is. I don't punch the ranger. Yeah. The Germany's got some internal dents though. The Magnet Street Rowing Club in Dunedin is the best place to cry. Magnet Street Rowing Club. Can you get some eyes on that for a splitch or we go through these messages? I'm a teacher and when the parents are mean to me, I cry in the maths storage closet.
Starting point is 00:55:48 There'll be some teachers crying, oh. Calculates, surrounded by calculators. Yeah, and abacus. Calculators and tears. There's a folk song in there. Big folk song. Someone said, grab some Mackey Dees and sit in the car down at the Hamilton Lake and ball. That's a good, the Hamilton makes a good spot for a ball.
Starting point is 00:56:05 We love a lake cry. The best way to cry is when someone asks you if you're okay. Yes, and you're obviously not. You know, when you're like on the precipice of breaking? And then someone goes, are you okay? Are you all right? You're like, if you've got a nose fizz, just thinking about that. Yeah, there we go.
Starting point is 00:56:23 Look at that when it's a sunset or a. a sunrise. Yeah, I'd have a trie there. I'd park my car exactly where that car's parked because it still gives people enough room to get in and out of those roller doors because I'm a considerate crying. The rowers have to get the big boats out. Actually I'd probably have parked a little bit further away then because there's along those boats.
Starting point is 00:56:39 Someone said, great place to cry is in the disabled toilet on the island explorer which is the ferry going between downtown and Bayeswater. It's only seven and a half minutes though. P.S. I work on it so my crying has to be in seven and a half minutes increment and they're waiting for seven and a half minutes. Get it down?
Starting point is 00:56:54 and the back to work. Wipe the tears. Welcome aboard. No, my heart am I. Will come. Store your bike there. Just make sure the kids don't climb on the rails. Kmart car park, eh?
Starting point is 00:57:05 Oh, no, I don't like that. Like, oh, pull up to, this is genius. What I do is I pull up to the Kmart car park. I release the cry. Pop into Kmark, buy a little something to make myself. I'll feel better. That's so good. Our work has a crying park.
Starting point is 00:57:19 It's a reserve next to the river where we go to Crow and our boss is being a sea word. It's usually full of people because, is a sea word. Someone said, Tate your shower crying to the next level by turning the lights off. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that's how you're slipping fall.
Starting point is 00:57:35 Turn the extractor fan off. Sit down. You don't need that brown noise shit when you're having a cry. Audio beach. Hit the back of your head. Audio beach. I go out to the horses pack. They come and stand with me.
Starting point is 00:57:45 It makes me feel like they're looking after me. Guarding me as I cry and not judging me. In the work bathroom with my vape, puffing down my shirt. Mount Williams That's from a lawyer by the way Mount Williams walk out over Pocono Beautiful views
Starting point is 00:58:00 Usually quite peaceful And they'd another sad song born Yeah Shall I go to I actually made a song Called music to cry by That was a Someone did you read this
Starting point is 00:58:10 My marriage ended last week Oh no I'm so sorry My marriage ended a week ago Out of the blue I'm crying everywhere I'm christening every room In this house
Starting point is 00:58:17 Not in a great way All over the farm Every picture I see of my wife F love it's dead It gets better It does get better. It gets better. It gets better.
Starting point is 00:58:26 It does get better, mate. It's tough and it's hard to hear, but it will get better. And it makes me want to cry, actually, because it's sad, man, but you'll be all right. You'll be all right. And then it's going to be way better. The song ruins me. I shouldn't have put it on. It's a really nice song, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:58:43 Trying to tell some guy's wife has left that it gets better with the music. I'm screwed. Sorry, guys. Actually, crying's good, though. Good for you, man. Fletch? Someone said on the toilet while having a good wee
Starting point is 00:58:56 and then just letting it cry water's coming out of everywhere and you have it you have a red wine Yeah, I love that Yeah, red wine in Water and Wees out Someone said most spots anywhere
Starting point is 00:59:09 Where afterwards I can jump into a body of water Usually off a bridge Safely of course Oh yeah nice Controlled descent Control descent We love! We cry.
Starting point is 00:59:23 Wow. Man, this is a good song. Oh, car wash. That's beautiful. Imagine going to a car wash and you want to have a cry, but it's one of those brushless ones. Doesn't quite hit as hard as. Someone said, okay, someone said, read mine out. I get it, Rochelle.
Starting point is 00:59:43 I'm framing it in a funny way because we are doing this. Having a big cry and in a jump you survive. So she was like, I want to bun, after they have a big cry and then jump and bungee. And they're filled with adrenaline. Because nothing makes you feel more alive than that. Someone said, guys, it's my birthday enough with the sad. Yes, someone said I'm crying.
Starting point is 01:00:04 Oh my way to school drop off. Sadness is just another emotion we have to feel and it's beautiful. And sometimes we cry for beautiful things. For God's saying. We're trying to do a positive spin. Oh my God. Someone said lately it's been sitting on the floor, following the washing
Starting point is 01:00:21 watching a certain scene from the sheep detective. Have you guys watched this sheep detective movie? It'll get you? I think I cried three times in the sheep detective's license or even join the police force.
Starting point is 01:00:32 How did it even go to high school? Like how did it even get in? I know. How did it pass a test where they have to drag a human body? Wait till you... How did it get over the obstacle course wall? When I worked at Hooters,
Starting point is 01:00:44 we had a storage room that we called the Cry Room. I don't need my Hooters, waitress, crying. Oh, like, came here to see you giant boobs and some chicken wings. Now I feel bad for looking at the boobs. I don't want her. I don't want the wings.
Starting point is 01:00:57 She wants to wear a jumper, man. She wants to wear a jumper. She wants to wear a wig. She's upset. She wants to wear a jumper. It's cold today, but she needs to make tips. The Fletch morning, Haley, big pod. Fact of the day, day, day, day, day. Do do do do do Today, well this week is copper week
Starting point is 01:01:27 Here at Fact of the Day And Haley I know you've been hanging out for it Today's oxidization Today's oxidization day Which is why compa goes that funny green Green. So oxygen is rust right And an iron and steel The iron reacts to the oxygen and the moisture
Starting point is 01:01:44 And it forms iron oxide which is rust And that's flaky and it falls apart And if you own an old car it's like horrible and it spreads. It's orangey. It's orange and it's yuck. Whereas brass as well goes grain. Yes.
Starting point is 01:01:56 And copper. Brass is like copper. Copper's oxide layer behaves completely differently. It forms a thin, very dense, tightly bonded film that actually seals the surface, stopping it from deteriorating anymore. Once the copper is covered with the green, which is its oxidisation, like the patinaed look, it's sealed and it will last for a long, long time. That's why roofs used to remember.
Starting point is 01:02:19 made of copper. Because once the original oxidisation happened, they would last for up to a thousand years. Oh, wow. Unless someone got on your roof and stole it all. Unless they would take it all down to the scrapie, who would... Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:32 So, one of the most famous large things made of copper, of course, is the Statue of Liberty. Mm-hmm. It weighs 31 tonnes. And in 1886, when it was unveiled and gifted to the Americans by the French, it was actually shiny and brown, like a giant penny,
Starting point is 01:02:48 because a penny's also made of copper. But do you know, it's no thicker than two pennies stacked the whole way around. Every sheet, 300 sheets involved in the Statue of Liberty, all hand-hammered to be thin, and when they put it out, it was shiny and bright. It took 20 years of exposure. How clean and salty New York air for it to go, the famous green patented copper that we know it is today.
Starting point is 01:03:12 It would have looked so cool when it was new. I know, but I couldn't find a colour photograph of it. 1886. But it looks better green because we know it to be great. It's like all of our copper statues around New Zealand. Or bronze statues of colonizers and pigs.
Starting point is 01:03:29 They're all green. Colonizers and pigs. Yeah, I see what I said. Colonises pigs and Harry McCleary in Tooronga. I'll stand by that one. Do you think Harry McCleary is a colonising pig? I'm not going to go in Terry. Whose dairy was it?
Starting point is 01:03:42 Harry McCleary. Yeah. Wow. Not your dairy, bro. Snits of encromb. I'm not even going to touch on his war crimes, but let's say he was there in 1936 through 45. So the same thing that turns copper into that patina green
Starting point is 01:03:58 is the same reason octopus, spiders, scorpions and snails have blue blood. What? We have hemoglobin. That's what carries the oxygen around our body, right? Obviously. They have, I knew that already. Not news to me. Hello.
Starting point is 01:04:13 They have hemus cyanan. See cyan in the middle there? Yeah. Syan, the same thing that's running out in your ink. Always running out in the printer. And yet I have not printed anything. Sion coloured. I didn't print my boarding passes, cyan.
Starting point is 01:04:27 I'll tell you that right now. So we have an iron-based hemoglobin, iron in the middle. Blood is red. The copper-based protein in the middle, hemasin, makes the oxygen. It's copper-based, not iron-based. What about haemir-migin? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:47 That's another one in the Prince. So cyan, magenta and black. No, there's yellow, pink and blue. Magenta, cyan. Blue. Blue. Yellow. Yellow.
Starting point is 01:04:57 No, cyan's blue. Cyan's blue. Yeah, obviously. That's why they've got blue blood. All of this. Hemosyan. Hemosion. So the minute the oxygen attaches to it, they breathe in,
Starting point is 01:05:08 lungs into the system, the blood turns blue because. Because. Because princessization. Yes. It's oxidizing. It's oxidizing the copper-based proteins. Yeah. The very same chemical reaction that turns copper green.
Starting point is 01:05:28 No, the termed the Statue of Liberty Green turns the copper-based proteins in the blue. Of course, we knew this, didn't we? Can you not speak over me for? Can you not? White colonising pig. Yeah, that's all I am. What are you, a colonizing pig? I tear down your statue.
Starting point is 01:05:46 No, that's actually very. Interesting. So yeah, the same thing that turned the stature of today's fact of the day for copper week is oxidisation and the same chemical reaction that turned the Statue of Liberty green turns some animals blood blue. Fact of the day, day, day, day, day, day. The ZDUToo, Tududududud to do to do to do to do to do. Do do do do. The ZDEM Podcast Network. Play ZM's Fleshhorn and Haley
Starting point is 01:06:18 Huge fans of love on the spectrum And in particular, Connor We love Connor Now, he joins us We're so excited for this All the way from America Hello Connor from New Zealand The bottom of the world
Starting point is 01:06:31 You know, it's funny I always figured the bottom of the world Was Antarctica Well actually, so you've got me there Yeah You've actually got me there It is Antarctica Half of the world
Starting point is 01:06:41 Oh yeah you're American You say Antarctica We say Antarctica Antarctica. We're joined by Connor from Love on the Spectrum, which is just one of the most heartwarming television shows available to us and a world full of filth and trash. Yeah. And we're joined by Connor and thank you so much for joining us, Connor. Hello, thank you very much for having me. What was it like going on a reality show and then like when you're out and about getting recognized by people, which I'm guessing, given the shows a worldwide phenomenon, you're getting recognized everywhere?
Starting point is 01:07:08 When I first got on Love on the Spectrum, I never thought I'd be recognized so often. but now it feels really great. Like back when I was in school, a lot of people would say hi to me and know me and I didn't even know them. To be honest, I always figured that made, that probably meant I was popular.
Starting point is 01:07:29 You are now. You are now. You are now. You're very, very popular. Have you used it yet? Your newfound fame? You know, have you ever pulled a, do you know who I am?
Starting point is 01:07:37 I'm Connor from Love on the spectrum. Well, no, no, no, no. Nothing like that. No, the fame is just an added bonus for me. Can I ask with the fame, because you were on there, you know, looking for love, that's the point of the show. Were your DMs on Instagram blowing up with potential suitors saying, you know, maybe I'm a bit of you? Boy, were they? But I never answered any of them because there's bad news for all those potential suitors.
Starting point is 01:08:10 I'm already taken. He is taken. He is taken. You have your hard launched with your new girlfriend. How's that all going? Her name is Sarah, and she is just amazing. She's the best. She knows so much about sports. She loves crime shows, murder mysteries.
Starting point is 01:08:32 He's just like me. I was going to say she actually sounds quite like male. Heaps about sports and murder mysteries. One of the big scandals, Connor, was that. you were publicly pro brunette and you hard launched your new girlfriend, Sarah, and she's a blonde. I know.
Starting point is 01:08:51 How did this change come about? You start widening your search. You start to think maybe it doesn't matter what color of woman's hair is just as long as she likes you for you. Loves you for you. Oh, that's beautiful. Loves you for you. Would you consider yourself going blonde?
Starting point is 01:09:06 I think you could pull it off. Oh, me? Yes. Not be. Not on your Nellie. I reckon Connor could totally do it. A couple of blondes walking around. You're looking like M&M.
Starting point is 01:09:19 Thanks, but I kind of like my hair just the way it is. That's the way to go. Now, since you have found success in love, which we're so happy, do you have any advice for someone who is also looking for love? Be confident. Have faith. Don't lose hope. And widening your search.
Starting point is 01:09:40 Birch or your options isn't such a bad idea. Blondes. Fletch, have you ever considered widening your search? We're actually loved up ourselves, me and Vaughn, but Fletch is perpetually single. This is great advice, Connor. It really is. Yeah, it is.
Starting point is 01:09:59 What about things to look out for on a first date? Do you have any red flags that you personally were like, whoa? Yeah, definitely. Okay. If she tries to move on you, even though you literally just made, it's all, girl, hold it, pump the brakes. I am not an object.
Starting point is 01:10:17 I get it. I'm good looking thing. I look like I got burly muscles, but seriously, not an object. Okay, okay, so take it slow. Maybe wait until, after the first day to consider the idea of kissing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:33 Okay, that's a good one. See, I think this is where Fletters going wrong. I think he's rushing into it. He's rushing too much kissing on the first day. Physical forward. Yeah. Pull back. Get to know them a little bit.
Starting point is 01:10:43 We've met some amazing people through the show, you know, the other members of Love on the Spectrum, but you've also done all the talk shows and met an amazing range of people. Who's the coolest person you've met? Oh, there's one guy. You ever hear of Robert Irwin? Yes. He's having a real moment, isn't he, Robert Irwin?
Starting point is 01:11:02 A real moment. When did you meet him? I actually first met Robert at Dancing with the Stars. Oh, yes. Oh, right. He won that, didn't they? And now he's hosting Dancing with the Stars, the next pro. And get this, when I met him at the Crocodile Hunter Lodge, he gave me one of the khakis
Starting point is 01:11:25 they were at the Australia Zoo, naming me an honorary wildlife warrior, which is a big deal since I've been a huge fan of his dad, Steve Irwin, since I was a kid. Oh, that's so awesome. That's amazing. Wait, Conner, so you were in Australia and you didn't take a little three-hour flight to come to New Zealand to see us. Maybe next time.
Starting point is 01:11:51 Okay, next time. After all, New Zealand, New Zealand is actually the filming site of one of my favorite movies, The Lord of the Rings. Conant, you need to come to New Zealand and we'll take you to Hobbiton. It is literally, the three of us love Hobbiton.
Starting point is 01:12:09 If my brother, Ben, was with me, he would be over the moon. It would be our pleasure to host you in Hobbiton. It's very, very cool. You've got to come. To be in a Hobbit hole, that would be amazing. I won't even bother wearing shoes. No, no shoes, no shoes. And then I know sometimes, Connor, you like to have a bit of a beer.
Starting point is 01:12:31 You go, you finish at the Green Dragon in, the pub. Yeah. The fine brew of the green dragon. Good place to get an ale. How wonderful place to get an ale. Yeah. Well, Connor, we're so happy. We absolutely love the show.
Starting point is 01:12:45 All of us in New Zealand and we love you and we're so happy that you have found love as well. Best of luck to you on your journey and honestly, come to New Zealand. We'll take you to Hobarton. I am definitely flying to New Zealand one day. I love all the Kiwis there. And we love you. Thank you so much, Connor. ZM's Flesh Foran and Haley
Starting point is 01:13:06 Now, a few weeks ago I on air said that I taught my daughters how to whip tea towels It's an ancient Yeah, round, round, round, round, round, wet. And I, to be totally honest, I think it's the crime of the century with the invention and the widespread distribution of dishwashers
Starting point is 01:13:23 is that children aren't learning these valuable skills. Because you learnt it when you were drying the dishes and the towel got wet. And your brother was annoying, so you whipped him. You give it the old gravity chain, I pull back and quack. Like that. Now I told them how to do it.
Starting point is 01:13:36 I said the rules are as follows. If you do it to someone, they get to do it back to you or they can elect their champion, in which case it's going to be me, right? Because I'm the only other one there. So that's the rules. And the rules are all good. Last night I said to them,
Starting point is 01:13:51 you guys unload the dishwasher and do the dishes and dry the ones that are in there. And I'll do the dishes. That's our rule. Okay, they said. And I was sitting at the computer doing some work and I heard an almighty crack. for crack.
Starting point is 01:14:05 And then I heard a gasp. And Indy had wound it up. And to be honest, the sound alone I was very, very proud. Her sister had a red welts. But August wasn't crying. And August just was just like, and walked into me and said,
Starting point is 01:14:24 I elect you champion. And she handed me her teetail. And I was just like, these are the rules. And Indy just bolts. I was like, these are the rules. Indy. These are the rules. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:33 So she's running down the hall. saying, I'll call the police, I'll call the police. I was like, child abuse, child abuse. What a head, call the police. Get to a court one day. They're going to say so. You whipped her first and she elected a champion. It's like, case dismissed.
Starting point is 01:14:46 Yeah, case dismissed. I hope you've got a good wow. Actually, we're going to charge you for wasting police time. So then she actually started recording and she's got the audio of when I get her. Yeah. I've got it here. You ready? So this is she runs through her room and shuts the door.
Starting point is 01:15:01 And I walk slowly. You know how scary it was when your dad walks. Oh my God, yes, when they're not chasing you. No, they're not chasing. I know where she is. She's not going anywhere. She's put, she's put herself into a cul-de-sac. We're a fool.
Starting point is 01:15:13 Idiot. Okay. Huh. You've got to be wet. No. No, dad, please. I'm going to cry. That's a good one.
Starting point is 01:15:29 That's a good one. No. No, I'm going to cry. Listen. No, dad, please. I'm going to cry. It's so funny because a towel whip you do, it hurts, and so you cry, but you're laughing because it is so dumb.
Starting point is 01:15:50 Where'd you get her? So do you think she's... Back of the leg, like the soft part of the back of the leg? Because she was up like that. I was like, and afterwards, by the way, she's absolutely fine. Her red mark is about the same as her sister's red back. This is life. She effed around and she found out.
Starting point is 01:16:06 Yeah, man. She's not the rule. She's not going to do it again. Oh my God. This is the most 80s, 90s text. We used to say to Mel, we're going to call the police. She'd say, good. I'll give them a reason to come.
Starting point is 01:16:20 What? Rules be rules, man. She has, she, I said, is it right. If I play that video and the audio. And she said, yeah, yeah, because the crack. I got her and I knew it was good. But man, the crack was really good. So good.
Starting point is 01:16:32 You sound like you've got some sturdy teetails. Because when the teetails went old and weak and fluffy. Yeah, no, no. Not good. But you don't want a brand new, Elscone. Oh, brand new Alskos is not bad. There's a bit of... But you don't want those fluffy new nice towels.
Starting point is 01:16:44 No, no, not fluffy. The air catches them too much. They don't streamline through the air. I've got fluffy for like, you know, display and nice. You've got to get the thinner ones but not too thin that it's... My country roads will do the job. Would they... I'm worried that they're too fluffy.
Starting point is 01:16:59 No, no, no, no. There's fluffy ones and there's a flatter country. There's a flat on the back and it's smooth on the... Yeah, it's perfect. The work Alskos. When they... You know, workplaces always have the Elskot towels. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:09 The tar. A waffle? Yeah, it's got a waffle to it. No, it's not a... It's a waff, it's a waf, it's a wove. It's a weave. It's got a weave. The towel's flat, linen.
Starting point is 01:17:18 They're built to be watched a thousand times. Yeah, yeah, and I reckon about 500 washes, and they really hit their stride with a whip. Just nice, they go through the air, so... The terror. Yeah. She heft around and found out. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:32 The ZN podcast network play ZN's FlashForn and Haley. So silly, silly, silly that the silly little pole So little pole today is what would your ideal lotto win be? What? Wait, did anybody win last night? No, I logged in during the drawer. Hang on, hang on standby. Oh no, is it too early?
Starting point is 01:18:06 It was not struck. Oh, well, I'm not even going to bother checking. The jackpot rises to an incredible $18 million. It's back up to 18. So quick. That's so quick. I know. It just goes to show you how hard it is to win.
Starting point is 01:18:19 Did you see the $20 million ticket? still unclaimed in Auckland? That's nuts. The one that was sold at Blockhouse-based stationeros? No. I've said it before, it's some old lady and she's killed over. And her family have just chucked everything out. How long until it gets absorbed into the nation?
Starting point is 01:18:34 They do try to find the person. They do actively try to find them. They do. So they go and get security footage of who bought on that day. That's a good call. Right? All derries have cameras these days. Yeah, and they would have held on.
Starting point is 01:18:46 If you own the dairy, when the ticket got sold, you'd be pulling the footage from that. Hell yeah. Yeah, I've heard that they've pulled footage before to try and identify people. They expire 12 months from the exact date of the draw. So the clock is ticking. And if it's not claimed, the money is forfeited and goes back in for us to want. So maybe it goes back into a lotto, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:07 Yeah, so maybe we want them this 20 mil to come back in. It just feels like it's been hit in highs quite regular. Yeah. Yeah, it's because they added more numbers to Powerball, right? Well, they're going to? They're going to? No, that's right? Not hasn't kicked in, yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:22 And then when it gets, you know, fever pitch, when it gets high. And it just... It goes up exposition because of more people buying the tickets in the top. Oh, yeah, there's a rain. So what would be your ideal lot of when these were the options, literally anything, over a million. And when it cuts before, it's a bit of giant. So we've got less chance to win from September, basically. How many power balls will there be?
Starting point is 01:19:45 Yeah, but just... It's going to go from 10 to 14. So they're only four extra powerful. And so I just thought it was inside out. from four to five and the cap will go from 50 to 60. Imagine winning 60 million. This is funny. Everyone's like would think, oh, I just want the maximum amount. But no, it would be too much. I'd give it a red hot though. You'd have to absolutely fang so much of it away. Who needs $60 million overnight? You'd turn into such a... Well, your friends, Fletch and Vaughn would
Starting point is 01:20:13 certainly help you, Haley. Would you? It would be our absolute pleasure. It would be our honour. You've got my genuine friends. your advice first of all is let's do our financial advising on a large boat in the Mediterranean. I'll cover it as the winner. As the are your financial advice. Well Vorden and I certainly weren't covering it. Yeah, God no.
Starting point is 01:20:32 Unless you want to be on a public ferry. I could shut your dinghy admission bay. That'd be about my version of a boat on the moon. No, no, no, no, I'll pay for the boat. So literally anything, over a million, over five million or over 10 million. This really surprised me. This was the option for silly little poem. Over 10 million, only 17,000. percent of people.
Starting point is 01:20:52 Yeah, I think like you say, it would be too overwhelming. You don't need that much money to just have the most fabulous life in New Zealand. You don't need it. Yeah. Over 5 million, 23%. Yeah. Over 1 million, 23% also. So people just, and other people just want to say...
Starting point is 01:21:08 Why wouldn't you want five instead of one? Yeah. 37% said literally anything. Yeah, right. So even if it was just like 100,000 or something. 50K. One of those little amounts. Yeah, when you're like...
Starting point is 01:21:20 Nice, that's a boost. Some feedback on it. Liv said 5 million, I think. You could set yourself up for a nice life, but stay humble. Yes, stay the same. Have a nice lifestyle, but still go to work, stay in touch with reality, anything more, and I fear I'd lose myself. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 01:21:35 We're Kiwis. We are, like, chill. And then, like, if you had 40 million, like, how are you going to, like, go out with your friends? And how are they going to keep up with you? And go where? You'd just have to pay for everything. Yeah, I'd pay.
Starting point is 01:21:47 And that would be fine, but, like... It would change the dynamic. They would change, yeah. Totally changed the dynamic. If you went to school with someone and, you know, they had a great business idea and, you know, they made, they were a billionaire and they didn't shit your dinner. Oh, you'd be pissed off. Yes, yeah. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:22:03 Yeah, true. I only buy a ticket if it's $20 million or more, says Joel. No point wasting my luck on anything less than that. You would have a waste. Yeah. So he thinks he's... A measly eight would be. Got a certain amount of luck.
Starting point is 01:22:15 I'm kind of the same. I don't buy tickets unless it's a big draw. Because your chances of winning are next to nothing. We've got to be in to win. Someone wins. Jen said, look at the stage, you'd take a thousand bucks. David, over 10 million,
Starting point is 01:22:27 because it's the most. He said if you'd had a higher option, he would have gone for a higher. Literally the borrowing. Laura, just enough to pay the mortgage off. Imagine how much you could save if you didn't have mortgage repayments. Yes, but I reckon,
Starting point is 01:22:42 what is it called? Lifestyle creep. When you've got more money to spend, you just end up spending it. I've just come up with a saying. What is it? It's kind of like mo money, more problems. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:54 It's a good saying. Do you just come up with that? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah, right. But, like, I remember my godfather. He's loaded. He's been a millionaire for years, right? Like, did well in property and all this stuff.
Starting point is 01:23:06 And I remember always been like, oh my God, like, what a life. He was like, no, just everything gets bigger. The bills get bigger. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everything gets bigger. Your house gets bigger, then the bills get bigger and everything gets bigger. Over a million, says, Samantha, pay off my mortgage, then just live off what we earn,
Starting point is 01:23:18 which would be enough to holiday regularly. leech. Yeah, I like these people. Yeah. Sensible. I'm not even buying a ticket if it's under $10 million. I can't afford a house for under that. Yeah. You can. You get a very nice house for 10 mil.
Starting point is 01:23:32 Brand says... Can't afford a house for under 10 mil. Where are you looking? Five plus. Obviously I'd like to go 10 plus, but I feel like five is enough to not be over the top rich. Just enough for a house, helps and family out. I don't want to be greedy. People don't want to be greedy.
Starting point is 01:23:46 We've got beautiful listeners. Francesco, I have twice one of amazing. major prize and while I'm very grateful for any winnings, Lotto and I don't have the same definition of major. Once was $1,100 and one was $1,400. To me, major's a million. Oh, I mean, that's more money than I've ever won on Lotto. You'd be stoked to win that, though.
Starting point is 01:24:05 $2,000. Yeah, all up. Wow. I would have probably spent that much on my lifetime as an adult. If she's buying tickets every week, she probably would have spent that pretty quick. So for us, a little poll, we asked, what would your ideal Lotto win be? And the smallest amount, because we've got lovely non-greedy. listeners. 17% of you said
Starting point is 01:24:21 over 10 mil. The ZM Podcast Network. Play Zat M's Fleshhorn and Haley. A couple of bits of book news. Now I'm going to actually throw to our book expert at Carwin Reads, producer Carwin. Because Carwin, this has been popin' up everywhere
Starting point is 01:24:39 but I saw on your Instagram at Carwin Reads Smuts being banned on a huge platform. Oh, hang on, hang on. Smarts being banned on a huge platform? Yeah, so Wapad, are you familiar?
Starting point is 01:24:57 No. No. Okay. So you're really going to have to start from the beginning. I've heard of it but I don't use it or know it. Yeah, it's just a website online where people write stories, fan fiction, everything in that realm.
Starting point is 01:25:13 A lot of... No one's written fan fiction about me still. No, so much. Yeah, that you and Jeremy Wells, remember, on Taskmaster. Oh, yeah, that's right. That's right. But that involved Jeremy. Well, she's proud of that. More me. Don't diminish her writing.
Starting point is 01:25:25 No, no, no, it was great. It was hot. It was steam. It was brilliant. Have any of the well-known fan fictions that have turned into actual books started on Wot Pha? Yeah, so many. Wow. What ones?
Starting point is 01:25:35 Fifty Shades of Grey, wasn't that an OG Watt pad? It's a Twilight fanfic. Yeah, yeah, because that was originally Twilight. I will say I wrote many a Wattpad fan fictions as well. Yeah, I bet you did. And none have been made into books. Who were your fan fictions about? I did a lot of, I did one direction and a lot of five seconds
Starting point is 01:25:52 the summer. Luke came in. That's right. Yeah. I got told off at school, a teacher walked by and saw me writing fan fiction. I'd never kissed a boy, but man, I knew how to write about it. Sorry, yeah, yeah. Sorry, can we just flag the next time, uh, five seconds of summer in New Zealand? We've got to get hands on that.
Starting point is 01:26:08 You have to read fan fiction to their face. Yeah. See, mine was all just Hotchow Ray, so I don't think that's... Hotchall Ray! Oh my God. I'm amazing. Wow. Oh my. It's been really... Is that that song? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:22 Rale-R-R-L-A-R-A-M-A-M-A-M-A-M-A-M-A. It's going to turn our song out here. Be careful. Great, I'm going to be deeming them later. Jeepers. As we talk about this, you may... We're just going to hold it under the colour. Yeah, you may hear a buzz out there.
Starting point is 01:26:34 It's not what you think it is. It's the aircon unit. I'm just sort of like hearing it in the back. So what pad, so people go and they can do fiction, write fiction in there. Classic. Hang-up. Seven days of torture. Seven days a bit.
Starting point is 01:26:47 I'm like, you're going to go. This is like the time that they tried to do that rap a couple of weeks ago. I don't even know what Hot Shale Ray. La, la, la. It doesn't matter. It's famously hot. There's actually only two of them now. Hot Shell Ray.
Starting point is 01:26:59 In the band. Right. Okay, so what pads are you go there? And it's banned smart. Well, that was the kind of... Yeah, that's kind of the message that everyone's, like, freaked out about myself included. But technically, they've kind of just decided to remove content that is, like, exploitative, harmful. Da-da-da-da.
Starting point is 01:27:15 Or created primarily for sexual arousal. Well, that's everything, is it? Primarily. We all fast forward the kissing, you know. Yeah, so when we're like, oh, I walked downstairs, chucked my hair into a messy bun, my green eyes sparkling as I look down the stairs
Starting point is 01:27:30 and my mum has sold me to Harry Styles. That's fine. Wait, did you say my mum has sold me to Harry Styles? Guys, you know nothing. You know nothing about the fanfic world. Can Harry Styles take legal action against people saying he's into sort of child slavery situation? Why wouldn't anyone write this about me?
Starting point is 01:27:48 Like every fanfic of One Direction style. started with being sold to one direction. And then you're like, oh no, like I have to hang out with this boy band. It was just the biggest trope at the time. It was just like being sold off to one direction. And then it happened to every band. You'd be sold off to five.
Starting point is 01:28:05 Right. So if you were writing that, you'd be fine. But if you were writing just the gratuitous act stuff, just straight kind of pornographic. Yeah. And I guess that is to protect said people that made. are being written about. Unless they want to.
Starting point is 01:28:23 And I think, Hayley's Brow. Just saying, anyone wants to write a fanfiction about me? Just go for it. I'm open-minded. And so the other bit of book news is this AI thing, that AI is buying up your op-shop fines. You know I love an op-shop.
Starting point is 01:28:40 Buying up your second-hand books so that they can ingest their goodness and then use it to write more AI slot. So I was reading an article. Several bookstores around the... the country have said they've had large orders from North America. And for books like pre-1990, that's what it is. It's out-of-print books.
Starting point is 01:29:00 Oh, out-of-print? Oh, because they'd be online already. Yeah. And they're not usually in the copyrights fair. And these are coming from actual bookstores. Like, they're going to op-shops, but they're also going to actual bookstores. And they're getting these massive orders of like 50, 60, 70,000, whatever books. Not 1,000. 100.
Starting point is 01:29:15 That's fine. Are they manually scanning them in? So, there's video footage of this. they stack them all up in a pile and then they move them into a machine that like flaps the the booking out a slapping machine
Starting point is 01:29:28 no books our friends we learnt this in primary school a guillotines the cover off of them and then just scans all the pages in it's so bad that sucks man it was a movie I grew up watching
Starting point is 01:29:43 called Short Circuit it was about a military machine that got struck by lightning and gained sentience Of course. And he used to grab books and go, and read the book. And we were like, wow, that's so amazing
Starting point is 01:29:56 and futuristic and will never happen. And now it's happening. I know. It's really sad. It's really sad. So they say they destructively scan and pulp them for large language model training. More water.
Starting point is 01:30:09 They reckon that's why AOA uses the MDASH so much because it never used to. And then it scanned really old books, like 1800s and stuff and really old print books where the M-Dash was used in place of many punctuations. Yeah. Right.
Starting point is 01:30:23 And so it started using the M-Dash. That sucks. I sound excited, but I'm scared. Play ZM's Flashborn and Haley. Now I've always been an arrogant white male. Yes, you said. Born and bred. Aragon white male.
Starting point is 01:30:37 And I drive like one. I think there are things that we can learn from arrogant white men. Do you just do it? Just do it. Don't wait. To take it. Yeah. To just be like, I want this.
Starting point is 01:30:48 I'm going to do it. Dilly dally. Just get it. Now, I've always driven like one too. Yeah. I'll rip a U-E on a busy road. Oh, hang on. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 01:30:58 I'll just literally turn across traffic to get the park I want and then just drove up onto the footpath, been like, mine. I've loved being in the car when you've done this. And I've just been like, I would never, I'd be so shy. I'd be too skiward. I will say yesterday you were in the fast lane at 94.
Starting point is 01:31:15 Oh, wow. When? Classic going. Not in the 80K zone. I know there's an 80K and I would prefer to go 94. It goes all the way to the zoo. Yeah, and then it turns to 100. Oh, and he's 94.
Starting point is 01:31:28 In a Ranger. In a Ranger. Really? Do I have someone in front of me? Because I love putting on that automatic cruise control. And the Ford Ranger Wild Track. Oh, fucking a lot of tree. So since driving a Ranger, my arrogance is noted more by people. When I was doing it in the chimney,
Starting point is 01:31:44 it was cute. What's this little sweetie? Who's this little sweetie, patiti? Who's this North Shore Head? Yeah, oh. Who's this sparkly blonde? And they're just like, I've got to give it to the little dog
Starting point is 01:31:54 and the big fight that is Auckland traffic. Let him do what he said. But then the Ranger, I don't know if you guys know this, Ranger drivers don't have the best reputation. Yeah, it's like we see Anyone in like a rich Audi or something.
Starting point is 01:32:06 You're just like, oh. Yeah, you're like, you're a prick. Could be literally, I was about to say Mother Teresa in there, but we know our starts of Mother Teresa she's a prick. Lokey bitch. She's an extra bitch.
Starting point is 01:32:14 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And she was evil. Always asking everybody for a ride everywhere. We're going to find that thing to cancel her. me to the next orphanage, I need a ride. But yes, even if Mother Teresa herself was driving it out, everyone's like, oh yeah, yeah, prank. So I was merging like a zip yesterday.
Starting point is 01:32:26 No, there's no record of evidence that Mother Teresa ever held a driver's license. No, she didn't have. She wouldn't have. She would have made other people drive her around. Black mark against her name. Yeah. One of many. I think we're sitting at about five so far. So it was on the same drive where you went to me.
Starting point is 01:32:42 Sorry, hashtag cancel Mother Teresa. Cancel the mother. It was the same drive, so it was on the way home. Yeah. And I was merging like a zip. Yeah. Good boy. At the end there, when the motorway ends,
Starting point is 01:32:53 merging like a zip. Now, the person in front of me had gone. Yeah. The other lane went and I'm like, my turn. This guy's like right beside me. I'm looking and I'm like, excuse you, like we're merging like a zip.
Starting point is 01:33:04 Yeah. We're part of a functioning society. Do you own a wallet? But then, so I'm just like, no, and I just keep going. And he's right beside me and he looks at me and he pulls me the fingers. He's angry. He's having a bad day.
Starting point is 01:33:15 Oh, no. I can say he's having a bad day. He pulls me the fingers. You get road rage. So usually I give a thumbs up If someone pulls the fingers yesterday. Yeah, patronising. Blew him a kiss.
Starting point is 01:33:24 And did you get in front of him? Of course it. And you got in front of him, good boy! And you got to blow him. Wow. The dudes rage spiked when I blew up a kiss. And it's at this stage I'm about to say, blow kisses.
Starting point is 01:33:35 Blow kisses. It's so much better than the bird. It's such a great way to respond to a bird. And there's so many, like, ranges of kiss. Like, there's that arrogant. Like, you don't blow it to them. You just kind of kiss your hand. And float it their way.
Starting point is 01:33:47 Or give it the, give it the, really romantic blowing of a kiss. Did he look like the kind of bloke that would love a kiss? Follow me by another bloke? Oh yeah, Newman. Oh, not blow you. I don't hear you. I was going to say,
Starting point is 01:33:57 did he look like the sort of guy that would have followed me home, but not for a kiss to kick my teeth in. Oh, man. He did have a bit of a follow me to kick my teeth in energy, but he didn't. Yeah, because you've got to be careful how you agitated in traffic. I got, I was, I had someone agitating me on traffic
Starting point is 01:34:12 the other morning when I was driving on. We were driving in the dark, and they were right up my ass. And I was going, how fast I was. God. She goes fast. Right? And they were right at my bum and they were flashing their lights. And I was like, excuse you, I wasn't even in the fast lane. I was like, if you want to overtake me, mate, feel free.
Starting point is 01:34:26 Flash in the lights. I didn't have my lights on. And I was like, oh my God, I turned the auto off somehow. Oh, yeah. So I had to do that thing where I was like, and then I was like, oh shit. And I turned it and they had to be like, thank you. You know, oh, you're loser. Gosh, wild out there on the roads, isn't it? It's a wild west.
Starting point is 01:34:47 Oh, another podcast in the bag. The plastic bag. Are they back? No, no, still banned. Okay. They never left. That's where you come in with the line boy. Boy, man, if you enjoyed that.
Starting point is 01:35:00 Okay. Oh, and if you enjoyed it, give us a rating and a review and be sure to tell all of your friends. God, I need some sleep. Play ZDM's Fletchhorn and Haley.
