Starting point is 00:00:54 yeah yeah love those yeah no I just it's just caught up with Well, when do I had a quiet weekend? You better get better because we've got live shows. Our first live shows are starting. Don't about to make it.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Friday and Saturday, Wellington and Hamilton. So, suck those lozenges hard. Jesus. Suck it. Suck it, man. Suck those lozenges. I'm so excited. Your chance to win cash this morning, 8 o'clock dealer revealers back.
Starting point is 00:01:20 So week one is down. Manuka health, sorry. That's what it is. Manuka health. Yeah, they're good, aren't they? Half the case is a couple. gone on the wall. Thousand.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Saw that. Yeah, 10 cases remain. Still $5,000 in one of those cases. So your chance to call... Yeah, the $5 is gone. So your chance to call through and play this morning at 8 o'clock.
Starting point is 00:01:41 The top six is on the way. Yeah, a computer simulation has run about how ancient Mars used to function. Ancient Mars. Ancient Mars. Much like ancient Rome. Everybody wore togas and sandals. And the roads still exist.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Yeah. God, they knew how to build a road. No, I'm talking... like three billion years ago, what it looked like, and they've said it may have rained sugar. Yum. Or no, actually, imagine getting caught in the shower of rain in your jacket's sticky.
Starting point is 00:02:10 And also, you're like, I'm on keto, I'm on keto, no. I'm trying to avoid sugar. Through the skin. I've got the top six signs, it's rain and sugar. It's raining sugar. Next on the show, they might have worked out the phantom notification thing. Do you ever get this when you think your phone's gone off? Not think, like, feel.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Yeah. And you're like 100% here it is. Going back to a standard watch, I still get occasionally an Apple watch Phantom vibrate. When you rest. Is it the rubber band that's keeping this trim? That's a hair tie. Is it the rubber band pulling on your arm hairs?
Starting point is 00:02:49 It might be the hair tie pulling on hair hairs. This jeez. I've never replaced this battery in this watch. I think I've had it 20 years. Well, you can't tell. Isn't that amazing? Can't tell. The Fletchborn and Haley, big pod.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Now researchers have looked into phantom phone alerts, phantom phone buzzers, vibrations. I had this just the other day, and my phone wasn't in my pocket. I was so confused. And I felt like a, and then I was like, is there a bug in my pants if my phone's not in there? Well, apparently it all comes down to,
Starting point is 00:03:20 there's been a few studies done. They will say, though, that they're one-time studies, so they can't prove cause and effect, but they think that if you're expecting a call or a text, the brain mistakes ordinary sensations like clothing pressing on the skin or a muscle twitch for a buzz. For a bit of muscle memory because that's what it's expecting. That's what they say.
Starting point is 00:03:42 And they looked at these phantom vibrations. 41% of students at one Chinese university, 68% of all staff at another hospital that was studied, and 89% of undergraduates at a university. Said that had a... said that had phantom phone vibrations. I definitely have, but I don't think, but I was like, I don't think I'm expecting
Starting point is 00:04:01 a call, but maybe I've, my phone's always going off, you're kind of always see me expecting a little message. It's been a while and your brain's like, kind of need some attention. It's kind of crazy none of my friends are messaging me right now. They kind of know, there's like a busy week for me. But it is weird, eh, because it's, it's so convincing.
Starting point is 00:04:17 We've all experiences and you, you swear it's happening. Yeah. And then you, mine's always that I look at my phone and I'm like, my phone's screwed. because there's no notification there but I definitely saw it go off and then you open all your apps you open messenger you open Instagram
Starting point is 00:04:30 you open WhatsApp and you're like there's nothing It's nothing. It's crazy What happened before we had phones? That's just That wasn't a question I expected an answer for That was just a philosophical start to the way Phantom letterbox flaps Excuse me, you can't say letterbox flaps on the show
Starting point is 00:04:45 Is it too early for flaps? I think I've got a letter And you go out to the mailbox You're like god damn it If you had one of those old ones That your front door was your letterbox and they just put it through, maybe you'd hear a phantom flap. Yeah, maybe. How are they getting my
Starting point is 00:04:59 bloody ASOS order through that flap? Those flaps are too thin. They are. I don't need... I wonder if people used to hear the phone ringing. Like the landline, like if you were outside, you'd be like, oh, landline's going, or you're accepting a call, so... They probably would lock you up back in the day
Starting point is 00:05:14 if you thought you heard your phone going. Oh, you wouldn't tell anybody. Apparently it's more often in people that lean heavily on their phones. As in physically, or just rely on their phones. Or no, but like men who... always have them in their pockets. Yeah. Because mine would often be in a handbag that you might not feel as much as yours is constantly...
Starting point is 00:05:32 Well, maybe yours handbags getting Phantom. Phantom handbag. I wish my handbag will get some phantom money in it. You know what I mean? Like, it kind of remember the last time I had money. That'll be nice. Do you, your parents, because your parents still rock on a phone line? Whose parents still rocking a phone line? No, they're not. They canceled. It'll be non-law. Oh, okay. I was thinking of getting one. A landline? Do you think, I just think there'll be something kind of like, no, I just
Starting point is 00:05:55 I think it would be something kind of like cool about me. The only people that would call you would be the spammy junk people. No, it would be awesome. Like, oh yeah, if you want to get in touch. Yeah, what's your number? Okay, 09. 444. And you'd be like, what?
Starting point is 00:06:08 The last landline I had was one of those naked landlines that came through your internet. So that you could have just the internet. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you, but you... Yes, same. And you could pick your number. And it's gone now. I actually don't know what happens if you call it.
Starting point is 00:06:22 But my phone number was 09... I'm going to call it. No, we don't give out someone's number on here. It doesn't exist anymore because the company that it was with doesn't exist anymore. Okay, give it to me. But there are still landline numbers. But this was not a landline number number. Okay, Mel, the last two ones are all, you know, safety over here.
Starting point is 00:06:38 It was, I hand-picked it. I went under the thing when I was signing up for the internet plan, and it was like random number, and I clicked it. And I was like, then I just a tiny thing underneath. It said, pick your own and see if it's available. Oh. Had to start with 555. 555. Like the movies.
Starting point is 00:06:51 Yeah. So it was 09-55-6677. Is there a cooler phone number than that? Hang on, here we go. Welcome to Spark Mobile. The number you've dialed is not currently allocated. Oh, so that's not allocated. But how cool is that?
Starting point is 00:07:04 That's terrible. They've just outed me as a spark customer. I'm the voice of Skinny, so I've just lost a job. I would have thought that was your... It's corporate. That was on the other end that was Spark. No, it's... Because they purchased the company that... No, I'll admit, I'm on Spark.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Well, only because it's a work fine. I don't have... Skinny. Skinny, listen to me. Get the Skinny. Okay? Look, I didn't have a choice. I didn't have a choice. I just saw the voice is skinny. Get the skinny. That's me.
Starting point is 00:07:29 That's me. Don't fire me. Well, it's owned by them, isn't it? Screw you, Vaugh. You just lost me a job. You owe me. You owe me money. I'm going to send you the other voice.
Starting point is 00:07:35 I don't have any money. Good luck. The Fletchborn and Haley, Big Pod. From the unmoderated comment section, this is the top six. Well, a computer simulation's been run on like, what's up with you, Mars?
Starting point is 00:07:51 What's up? Not Mars bars. Mars the planet. Oh, okay. The red planet. I'm Mars, I snickers. It's a miss. Yeah, I'd snickers over Mars. Just you get peanuts in there. Yeah, you get something extra.
Starting point is 00:08:01 It's like a Mars with peanuts. Yeah. It's trying to think, picnics hit pretty hard. I like a picnic. Yeah. Looks like a poop. Because the Mars isn't basically a morrow, isn't it? E, whoa.
Starting point is 00:08:12 That's fighting with them fighting words. Yes, but, you know. I don't want to be so. What is the difference between a Mars? Was it one of those things where... What's just different companies? It's just a regional thing and... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:22 have was Morrow Australian and Mars was British. No, we've got both, isn't it? Just one's from one company, one's from the other? Yeah, right. Mars is from Mars, obviously. Yeah. Like how Arnitz and Edd, or whatever the other one has their different minty slices. It's all mint slice to me.
Starting point is 00:08:39 It's all mint slice to me. It's all mint slice. But one's Arnets and one's Griffons. And you're like, cool. Yeah. Where's my mint slice? Yeah. I'm not here being like, it's Arnitz or Griffiths.
Starting point is 00:08:48 I think it's owned by the same people, is it? Mars and Morrow. Well, that's insanity. They're making the same thing. They're just wrapping a different rapper around it. Cadbury. Yeah, Morro... 96, 96.
Starting point is 00:08:58 But is it one of those situations where if you keep going up, it's all owned by the same? Oh, yeah, everyone owns it. Yeah, everybody owns. Anyway, we're not talking about Mars Mars, we're talking about Mars planet. Oh, damn. A simulation's been run, and it shows that it likely had a rain that had formaldehyde in it, but formaldehyde causes sugar. So that's what the building blocks of life.
Starting point is 00:09:19 I know, I thought formaldehyde was what they pumped into... That's where you keep. Your organs in a jar. In the science room, there's a mutated animal in formaldehyde. But anyway, it basically would cause the sugar. Yeah. Which is a building block of life. So I've got the top of the signs it's raining sugar.
Starting point is 00:09:37 Wild. Number six on the list. Sorry, that was me with my tongue out in the sugar rain. Number six on the list. Ants. Happy. Very happy. It smiles in their little ant faces.
Starting point is 00:09:49 They'd be everywhere, wouldn't they? They'd just be out and about. They're not scared of the rain. when it's raining sugar. Number five on the list of the top six signs it's raining sugar. Windscroom wipers in your car do nothing. Oh. Just nothing.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Yuck. The smear on that. And then if it got hot, you'd almost get like a creme brule crust. It would crust over. You know what I mean? Like a shell. You'd need your window washer wiper thingies to spread out hot water. Hot water.
Starting point is 00:10:17 To dissolve the soapy sugar. Soapy. Yeah. Number three on the list of the top six times. running sugar, lick your plants. They'll tell you. And kale, homegrown kale would finally be edible. Yum.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Yum. Everything would be sweet. Because I love making, I don't love. It's probably been years. But used to make a lot of kale chips. Oh, yum. Yeah. Imagine that a bit of sugar on.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Yuck, though. Yeah. Just eat potato chips. Do you know what I mean? Potato kind of had the chips. Yeah, yeah. You know, they had a corner. Number three on the list of the top six signs.
Starting point is 00:10:49 It's raining sugar. Clouds look different because they're candy floss. Oh, and pink. Pink clouds. Yeah, what's that cloud? Humulus stratus. What's that one? Candy floss.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Yeah, yeah. And that's gonna rain a little bit of shugs. Candy floss is insane, eh? Where was I the other day and they had a candy floss machine. Oh, at the chemist warehouse, big brand showcase thing that we went to. There was someone in person that candy floss.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I don't think I do. Was it the toothpaste? Yeah, yeah, do this and then undo it. Yeah. No, it's just a brand. I think they had pink in its coloring or something. Right. Candy floss is just.
Starting point is 00:11:22 Hot whipped sugar. Yum. It is. It is. It is. It's insane to think you used to get a big bag of it as a kid at a carnival. And your parents would be like, please don't eat all of that at once. And they'd turn around and it would all be gone.
Starting point is 00:11:33 You would have smushed it as tightly as you couldn't just want all of sugar straight in the mouth. Yeah, it was crack for kids. Yeah. Number two on the list of the top six signs that's running sugar. Dentists are buying another beach house. Yeah. They love that. More depressed than ever.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Yeah. More depressed than ever. A dentist depressed? Yeah. Oh. I thought vets and dentists. Are they, yeah. It's sad, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:11:55 I'm sorry to hear that. Just have to look at your grim mouth all day. Yeah, but like, ha. Yeah. Do I have gum disease? They're like, hell yes. Lying, just being lied to the whole time. Yeah, no, floss heaps.
Starting point is 00:12:05 He's the person with like all that buildup in there. They say through gargling blood. Yeah. Number one on the list of the top six sides. It's raining sugar. You're really shitty when your clothes are on the clothes on and they get caught in a shower. Oh, that's going to be a complete rewash. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Oh, that's a sticky singling, isn't it? Complete rewash. That is today, top six. The ZNN podcast network. Now, I, last night, stayed at my girlfriend's house. We'd been at my house for the weekend. Go back to her place. She's having a bit of a fuss.
Starting point is 00:12:33 She likes a fuss. What do a fuss. Oh, fuss about. Fluff the pillows. Put the clothes away. Right. She's one of those people. She's talking about how messy it is why you're cleaning.
Starting point is 00:12:41 God, it's a mess in here. You can't keep on top of the dust. Yeah. Vacuum. She's a regular duster. Dude, every day. She vacuums every day. What? She vacuums daily.
Starting point is 00:12:52 So do you. Because you got the vacuum guy. No, I don't, I only put my robot on like once a week. Oh, but she doesn't just, she vacuums all the surfaces. Really? Windowsills. Oh, dude. Does she need some kind of diagnosis? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Every day. I wish I cared that much. Me too. Yeah, my house is such a style at the moment. When I kind of clocked on to the fact that she does love everything in a particular way, I was like, man, it must drive her nuts being in my house. And I said, is it quite hard being at my house? And she's like, sometimes.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Yeah. I'm like, just don't look. Yeah. That doesn't help. That's like saying to someone with anxiety. Just have you tried calming down? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't worry.
Starting point is 00:13:31 Have you tried not worry? Yeah, just don't look at it and don't worry about it. Yeah, don't worry about it. So she's having a fuss. Wait, here in a sec. Has she been to my house and thought it was dusty? Because it's dusty. No, she's only been to your house.
Starting point is 00:13:42 She's probably been to your house a couple times. She's probably went to my house and thought it was quite dusty because there's so much stuff. No, I think she was so overwhelmed by your house that she didn't notice the dust straight away. That's how you get it. It's hard to see the dust when a dead fox is steering you in the eyes. No matter where in the room you are, the eyes are following you. I mitigate dust by, yeah, covering the surfaces with more things.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then they get dusty, you sort of put more things. Yeah, and then you move one of the things and you're like, wow, my shelf wasn't that weird shade of gray. It was black under there. I just couldn't remember the painting, though, is that color. Look at that. It's hairy. It's hairy.
Starting point is 00:14:12 And the paint's got this texture. Yeah. I can wipe off with my finger. So she's having a fuss in a, and a, ferret. She's one of those people that unpacks a bag as soon as she gets home from holiday, too. Oh my God, I did this yesterday. I tried it out for the first time. It's weird. It's the best way to do it. I do that. It's so weird. And then I said to Mike, look at me. I just put my bag away for the first time rather than leave it for a week. So how does it feel?
Starting point is 00:14:32 I was like, it feels a bit crazy. Yeah, it does. It feels wild. Especially because you're going to need that bag on literally Wednesday night before we go on Thursday. I just left a pack that had everything I would have unpacked. I would have an unpacked. No. So she's putting stuff in the wardrobe and she just goes, help. That's all that. Help. That's the noise. Oh, help. And I was like, are you all right? She's like, what is this? Like, she doesn't talk like that. She was, is that your lady voice?
Starting point is 00:14:54 Help, man. How, man? She was like, help. What is this? Like, one of those voices, were you stuck and you don't want to say anything and you don't want to move? And I walked in and I was like, what are you looking at? And she's like, just like, look, she didn't want to point at it. She's like, I'm like, what's the matter? She's like, if I move, it might jump on me. And I was like, what is it? And I looked around and it was
Starting point is 00:15:11 quite a sizable tree wetter. Oh, really? In her wardrobe. Okay. And she's like, How did they get there? And I was like, you can move. And she, like, hid behind me and, like, moved and hid in the other side of the room. She's like, how did that get there? I was like, well, your windows are there?
Starting point is 00:15:26 There's a gap. And I just sort of come in there, crawled across there and gone in there. She's like, what are we going to do? It's like, well, I'm going to grab it. So I went to go to. Gently, though. They're precious. I'm a huge fan.
Starting point is 00:15:35 I'll squash a cockroach and stuff. I won't squash a wetter. Oh, no. We don't fly spray those. I'll squash a cockroach, a witter, a possum, a possum, spiders. Squash a posse. Sheep. We just stomp, cows.
Starting point is 00:15:48 A cow. If anything to my house, came over my property, it's getting squashed. It's getting squashed. Under my boot or fly spray. Like you fly spraying a dog. I'll come pretty close with the neighbors. What is going on here? So I get a paper towel and I pick it up and she says, don't throw it at me.
Starting point is 00:16:07 I was like, I'm not going to throw it at you because you've got boobs that I love playing with. Yeah. Why would I endanger that? Why would I jeopardize? For a cheap thrill. No. But I did what I do when I, my girls are also terrified of creepy crawlies. And I'm like, you can see them.
Starting point is 00:16:23 I'll hold it, but you can see it. And hopefully it's that exposure thing, right? You get less scared of something. My mom tried to do that with a emo. And she was like, look how soft, look how soft they are. Yeah. And I think it's made it worse. Look how soft they are.
Starting point is 00:16:38 She's trying to sell it to you as a cuddly thing. Yeah. So I say, do you want to look at it? And she's like, not really. I was like, okay, so when I'm walking past her, I don't do anything other than just keep walking. But again, I'm trying not to squeeze. This is a native creature.
Starting point is 00:16:53 It's beautiful. Oh, God, squeeze that thing into a pulp. No, they're precious. We make them hotels in the bush. We do. And as I'm just going past with a light grip, it goes, flip off. And back flips out at her,
Starting point is 00:17:08 kind of proving to her what she thought was going to happen all along. What was going to happen? And if she moved when it was up in the wardrobe, it was going to jump at her. It backflips towards her. And I... Oh, no. Amy's not a loud person.
Starting point is 00:17:21 She's very quiet. Most of the time she talks, I'm like, Big part, have to lean in. She's softly spoken. So softly spoken. I have never heard a noise come out. It was... Like a scream.
Starting point is 00:17:31 It was loud, high-pitched, and like two seconds long. Like a horror film. Yes. Like a horror film scream. What's that same to scream? The Will Hibched.
Starting point is 00:17:43 The Wilhams scream. The Wilhams. Yeah, yeah. Because that's a falling scream, eh? No, I thought it was a, like, a getting stabbed scream. I thought it was like a horror scream. I can't do it. I'm poorly in the throat.
Starting point is 00:17:54 And I was like, and she lives in, like, a block of flats. And I was like, Jesus. And it like rung in my ear and I grabbed the thing. And I took it outside and put it in a tree. And the neighbors, when I was going out, the neighbors came out. Yeah. Because of the scream. It's a bea-clavid.
Starting point is 00:18:08 It's a bea-a-old, bearded man. Sneak, because I'm holding the wetter. it looks like I've taken a toe or a finger or something. Yeah, hiding in the bush. And on the way back up, the neighbour's looking, I'm like, it's okay, there was a wetter and she's, and they kept looking.
Starting point is 00:18:22 So when I got up to the drawer, I was like, can you just come out and show everybody you're okay? Oh, yeah, that's got a terrified woman going, I'm okay. I haven't been told to say this. So she won't have her on one side and then by that time, the one on the other side had come out
Starting point is 00:18:37 and they were like, is everything okay? I was like, it was a wetter. I mean, they are, I think they're quite beautiful. They're ugly. No, I really like them. Not beautiful, but like very specific. You know, they're very odd creatures. I was bitten by a wetter on the little toe
Starting point is 00:18:52 the night Haley's Comet went over. Weird. We went to my grandparents and I went to put my shoes on at the end of the night. And it was in there. Always remember it was the Haley's Comet. We went to my grandparents to see Haley's Comet. And that doesn't come around every day, is it?
Starting point is 00:19:06 No, she doesn't. What is it? Every 8 or six years? I know. Haley's Comet. I've tried having a word to it, but like, you're shitting on our reputation, babes. We're known for being reliable and always been around.
Starting point is 00:19:18 And they hiss as well, yeah, they're a hell of a noise. And then when they... They're standing there, and when they get through it, and those back legs go, like that. They're like little transformers.
Starting point is 00:19:29 They're rad. They're pretty rare. Good on you for protecting it. Yeah, it's out in the tree now. Well, that was the thing I put in the tree and I came back in and she's like, why did you put it in the tree that probably lived in, it's probably going to come back?
Starting point is 00:19:39 Yeah, it knows. You probably should have walked about, 500 kilometers. When you get out of your car and there's a bug and then you're like, get out. And you're in Monaco now and you were in Lavin or something. And then you're like, do you think they're just like,
Starting point is 00:19:52 what the hell man? Where's all my shit? Where's my family? The Z&P Podcast Network. Play ZM's Fleshhorn and Haley. I missed all of this and it's been an interesting read this morning. Why is Kiwi Bank desperately trying to stop people from saying
Starting point is 00:20:09 that they want to have sex with its mask? Scott. It's a brilliant R-up in their spin-off. Great, right up in the spin-off. I said sex. They used a different word if you want to go read it for yourself. So how this started.
Starting point is 00:20:22 Buck is Kiwi Bank's green-walled cartoon sheep. Masker. I've seen some of these pre-roll ads and ads on TV. A bizarre advertising campaign where there's a sheep in the bank. Is it wanting a loan or what is it getting a house?
Starting point is 00:20:38 I don't know. I don't know. Here's Buck's story. I've gone to the Kiwi Bank website. I've never seen this before this weekend. Until I saw this story, I'd never seen this green woolly sheep. So it's had a Streisand effect, which I'm going to come to. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Which is that in asking for them to, for people to stop, it's blown up again over the weekend. Now that's not wanting to. Barbara Streisand, who sued somebody for something they said and it brought it into the public mainstream, whereas no one had heard about these claims that would be made against her. She sued it. It became new. So more people heard. about the thing she was suing someone to stop hearing about.
Starting point is 00:21:12 So Kiwi bass came out being like, stop saying that you want to have sex with this sheep. And doing so, more people over the weekend have come out on the online saying, maybe I would have sex with that sheep. Yeah, because it was, I had never heard that people wanted to have sex with this mascot until until spin-off brought this to my attention. Yeah, so cartoon green-walled sheep called Buck, who goes into the bank and I'll say it like, yeah, has flirty eyes. Like he's got flu-yards?
Starting point is 00:21:42 Like eyelashes, I've got eyelashes. I've got Buck's video here. Does Buck have a sexy voice? Do you want to have a little? I haven't heard this before. I'm assuming it's not going to have swearing in it. It's an ad for a bank. Give me up.
Starting point is 00:21:53 So I left those following days. It's Morgana O'Reilly. Is it? Yeah. Being my own chieford was hard of it. Yeah, that's Morgana O'Reilly. It does have quite have a set. Yeah. I just thought it was a stupid ad for a bank.
Starting point is 00:22:06 Like, I don't know. I wouldn't immediately be like, hmm. It is sheep So they released this character, made these ads Then someone made a joke And in all caps said I would eff that sheep Now it was a woman that said it
Starting point is 00:22:21 Was a woman that said it From what I can see So this lesbian says I want to eff this green sheep And it got 93,000 likes overnight 93,000 It's been like retweeted, reposted, everyone's like That's funny enter the furries community.
Starting point is 00:22:39 I haven't even thought about the furries. They have been making art. I forget about the sheep. In which Buck is getting... Oh, wow. Oh, no. What is that Rule 39 in the internet? If it exists, it's porn version.
Starting point is 00:22:55 They say this is a good-looking, good-looking, confident woman with beautiful hair. Yep. Of course we want to have sex with the sheep. Then it started dying down. so people were like ha ha ha then that main tweet went down and then on 16th of September
Starting point is 00:23:12 Kiwi Bank sent a US copyright take down notice to someone that had posted about wouldn't have sex of this fictitional sheep Streis and here we go into the Streisand effect in which they made a mountain out of a molehill and everyone's like hang on the sheep's bat
Starting point is 00:23:28 and actually yeah we would I would have sex of that sheep Kiwi Bank have come out again saying please stop saying that you want to have sex with a sheep. This was not the intention of this. Spinoff's in a write-up. It's back, baby.
Starting point is 00:23:42 It's brilliant. Barbara Streisand sued a photographer for $50 million in 2003. She wanted to remove an aerial photo of her Malibu Cliff House from a public coastal erosion website. So before the lawsuit, no one knew it was Barbara Streisand's house. And then they did. And then the news came out hundreds of thousands of people visited the website to see the image,
Starting point is 00:24:02 and it became known as a Streisand effect, where you attempt to hide sense or remove information accidentally causes it to receive much more public attention. Okay, well, I mean, we're talking about it and we wouldn't of, would we? We are putting gasoline on a fire here. Yeah. And Rule 34 of the internet states if it exists, there is porn of it, no exceptions. Rule 35 is, if no porn is found, it will soon be made.
Starting point is 00:24:23 But the thing is, people are making pornographic content. So there you go, it's real 324. And they say this is, this is not the first time, Tony the Tiger, McDonald's sexy grimace, the Juolingo owl. Yeah. The Juolingo, yeah. I'd have sex with the Jewel. Because of the brains. Saper, bisexual.
Starting point is 00:24:40 We love a smart man. Intelligence is sexy. Is Jew of the owl male? I think they're non-binary. I think anything you want it to be. I think it is what you want it to be. Jew is a girl.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Jew is a girl. Oh no. Jew of the owl is male according to Jewelinger's official brand guidelines. No gender would deter me from Jew of the owl. I just realized how into that I am. The ZDM Podcast Network
Starting point is 00:25:07 If your flight was being evacuated Would you take your bag with you? I'm assuming this is the one you've stored in the overhead compartment Yes, or the one under the seat in front of you Because the rules are If the plane's being evacuated, you leave it behind But it depends. Am I in the ocean?
Starting point is 00:25:40 Is it on fire? Has a door been ripped off? Or is it just we've had a bit of a rough landing And they're like, get out? So you might have seen it? this in the news the other week. This was a report that was released after a September, 2024
Starting point is 00:25:53 Air New Zealand crushed church to Wellington flight. The left engine caught fire shortly before landing. So they landed and evacuated. All 70 passengers and four crew evacuated. The evacuation took 171 seconds. It should take under
Starting point is 00:26:10 90. All planes must, when someone makes a plane, all planes have to be proven to be evacuated in 90 seconds. That's fast. So even like the A380s, the big double-deckers. Everyone's going to be able to get out. Everybody's got to be able to get out in 90 seconds. Now apparently... How do they test this? Do they load it up? No, you can look at videos online of like... Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:32 The slides deploying and everyone going down? But I mean, it's different when it's like you pay actors to sit in a plane and you're like, okay, go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly. As it hot. Chuck an old person in there, chuck someone who doesn't speak a lick of English. Yeah. And then there's... the panic, if there's fire, if there's actually an emergency. Well, apparently it took that long because half the passengers more than half took carry-on baggage despite instructions to leave it behind.
Starting point is 00:27:00 And then after they evacuated, some passengers walked near the engine and propellers when exiting. So there was a little bit of... They walked into propellers. Like, come on, dudes. Jesus. I said she's a prop plane. Yeah, it's a prop plane. Sorry, that's so funny, though.
Starting point is 00:27:15 I know. Like, you've just evacuated. I think if I had like a carry-on suitcase, I'd leave her. That's okay. Like a backpack, I feel like I'd just take her. Same. I'm like, it's just already, it's like, poop, it's on. It's on.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Because, you know, what if the whole thing catches on fire, you don't get it back? Like, the admin? I'm tall, so I'd just be like, do it out. If you're a little person, you're like climbing up. Can you bother with that? That's the thing, yeah. But it can't be one rule for tall people, tall confident people.
Starting point is 00:27:42 Well, what have the people say? We asked the people, we said a silly little pole, if the plane was being evacuated, would you take your bag with you? Yes, I'd take my entire carry-on bag. 36%. Yes, but just my phone and passport, 55% and 10% of people said no. But that's worse, if you don't have your phone and password on you, if you're in your bag, you can't be like, oh, just get them a passport.
Starting point is 00:28:05 Yeah, hang on, which zip in this travel bag did I have it in? And if it's that thing in front of you, you're like, dig, dig, dig. Just take the bag. Is it behind the Kiora magazine? Yeah. Oh, I'll grab that actually. they had a good arm pull in it though?
Starting point is 00:28:17 Yeah. Grab one. That had actually had a discount for you. I should grab that one. Okay, some feedback on it. I have a small purse that had a wrist strap.
Starting point is 00:28:27 Makes lie down easy getting through airports. Makes lie down easy? Makes life easy getting through airports. A small purse that had a wrist strap. So what is she like strapping it to her floor arm? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:38 Yeah. And it has all the things I'd need during the flight. Like a drug dealer at a club. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. That's what it sounds like. He's strapped to the arm.
Starting point is 00:28:47 That's usually in the back of the seat pockets. I'd take that, but I wouldn't get my day pack down. Aisha says, I'd take the essentials. I'd like to put them in my pockets rather than a bag to carry. I'm a rule follower, and they say, no bag. So I found a loophole. Yeah, but your keys and your lip line is no good in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. No.
Starting point is 00:29:07 Zax, he'd been through the earthquakes here in Christchurch, not making that mistake again. So do you think he left stuff in the house and the house thing? Oh, must have, yeah. Or is he had time to get out? I wouldn't take that opportunity running around your house and an earthquake. No. Give us a hand, getting the TV off the bracket, off the wall. This is vintage. This is vintage.
Starting point is 00:29:23 The percentage of people who will take their own bag is alarming. These sea words. Oh. Did we get a seawood in our DMs? These seawords are going to risk the lives. If everyone around them to root around for their bag in the overhead locker, sorry, but in an evacuation, I'll be pushing through anyone who is effing around, getting their bag so I don't burn alive in a metal tube.
Starting point is 00:29:41 I mean, it's life or death. I see why he's gone so passionate here. It's very passionate. But, you know, sometimes it's not. You're just landing and it's like, okay, the fire's out. Yeah. Let's just think of it. Like, this is sort of a replaceable.
Starting point is 00:29:52 They don't make this version of a deadly punnies anymore. It's a classic. We did have a lot of aviation crew members messaging very passionately about this. Yeah, we do joke around, but you've got to follow the rules. She collates the Cillulidipa response. She said, easily the most aggressive. I mean, it is life and death, right? They tell you not to, she said Carolyn, and I am a rule follower,
Starting point is 00:30:13 especially in a plane emergency. My dad was in a Qantas aeroplane crash, says Taryn. And if he hadn't taken his carry-on bags, things would have been way more difficult. What crash did they have? I thought Qantas had a crash. Because they've never had a right off of the plane, yeah. Oh, they keep bogging them up, eh?
Starting point is 00:30:31 Bit of see less normal gaps. These results make me incredibly mad, says Blair. Well, sorry, we could really rocked up the nation. We have, yeah. Amy said if it's small and within reach, But if it's in the overhead bin, then absolutely not. Surely that stuff's replaceable. Okay, Logan said I would be taking my bag 1,000%.
Starting point is 00:30:51 I'm a diabetic and my life would be in that bag. True. Yeah, okay. True. Well, I've got anxiety meds in my bag as well. So you need a bit of a bag. You don't want to really kick it off. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:02 You're all going to look a bit silly, carrying a whole bag off when everyone else is just running away, Sarn's luggage, and everyone's like, that person's got their bag. Yeah. Yeah, but when we're bobbing in the ocean and I'm on my July suitcase. You're going to look silly And you're going to be like, can I hang on? Do you think your July suitcase would be buoyant?
Starting point is 00:31:17 Yeah. I think it would be very buoyant. It would be. Hard case. It's a hard case. It would seep in and then it would become very heavy. It's got a good seal, Vaughn. No, I'd open it.
Starting point is 00:31:26 Flay it. Warns is jealous because he's got a material suitcase. It's quite a mess. It's fabric. It's like a sack. It's fabric. I do have a zip that meets and I put a lock through it. Yeah, but the zip's bursting.
Starting point is 00:31:38 It keeps people out. Always burst. Oh, yeah, there's the lock, but literally a couple of He can fit your fingers right through. And then he's got that free. Is it a Jim Beam suitcase from Judy Free? It doesn't have wheels. It's got one wheel.
Starting point is 00:31:50 Yeah, the wheel fell off. But it still lets people know what my drink of choice is. And I want them to know. It's Jim Bean. Yeah, great. It's always Jim Bean. For so little Paul, if your flight was being evacuated, would you take your bag with you? 55.
Starting point is 00:32:01 Actually, I'm going to add it together. 55 plus 36 is 91% of you said you would. Play Z-Ns. Flashawn and Haley. If you just join the show, I'm Haley, I'm getting older, I'm approaching 40. And, yeah, I'll say I'm approaching 40. But I did get Botox, so it's going to be less obvious.
Starting point is 00:32:20 She's back. It's pretty good. Look at that. Look at the eyebrows still up. Oh, yeah, that's pretty good. Yeah. But I'm not in the middle. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:27 That's the middle. That's up and down. Nailed it. Anyway, as part of getting older, I'm growing, my patients wears very thin very quickly, and I've really struggled this year in particular with going to the movies and people just talking the whole time. and rustling a bag of lollies.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Lollie per lolly for the whole movie. So the last movie I saw was, what was it? Not Odyssey. It was one more after that. And I can't remember, but I, oh, practical magic. And then after that, I was like, I'm done. I'm not going to go to the movies ever again, no more. I'll wait till I can either pirate it or stream it.
Starting point is 00:33:06 I'm done. I'm not doing it anymore. And then this weekend, I was tucked away in a little cabin in the woods in Perungia. It was lovely. And just having quiet weekend. And we felt like maybe we have a little pub dinner out. And where was the closest town?
Starting point is 00:33:22 Teowah Wootoo. So we head out for a night out in Teowahumutu. In the Muts Muts. Now, I've never been to Tiaoamutu on a night out on a Saturday night. So I'm thinking... It goes pretty hard. My memory, I've had a couple of nights out in Tiaoamutu. Well, at first we went to Stalions and got a Guinness.
Starting point is 00:33:41 It was great. Had a lovely Guinness. Then we popped into like a tids and tad sort of odds and sods little sort of coin save shop. It was great. Port a deck of cards. Had a look around the costumes and whatnot. Walked down to the...
Starting point is 00:33:54 What was that doing open on a Saturday night? Yeah. Because it's Halloween month. Yeah. When I say Saturday night, I mean five, five-thirty. Oh, okay, right. Yeah, yeah. And...
Starting point is 00:34:05 Love that. Goes to a reclusive cabin in the middle of nowhere, and they're like, you know what we should do? Go back to a town. No, but we'd spend... all Friday, all day Saturday, I'm just like, want to get a little pub meal out, went and got a lamb shank at the
Starting point is 00:34:17 Redout, you know, it was lovely. And then we walked past a bar and now having... Did you go to the Longacre? Because you've pretty much ticked off all three if you go to the Longacre. Was that... Yes. Because you said you went to Stallions for a Guinness. You've just had a lamb shank at Redoubt. And then at Longacre they were having a heavy metal night.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Of course they were. I was like, tickety, boom, boom, boom. To our moose lamb shank and some heavy metal? I'm like, I guess I'm buying a hell. house here. This is fantastic. But we walk past this little cinema. And if you know Tiaoamuuu, you know the cinema, it's in a heritage building.
Starting point is 00:34:49 It's like, it's a classic, untouched. It's beautiful. It's like a cinema tour or a cinema three or a... Yeah, and they've protected it so that no like big, like hoits or whatever can buy it. It's just a little independent cinema. No, she's anti-hoits. No, no, don't hear me now. I'm not anti-hoits. I'm not anti-hoits.
Starting point is 00:35:07 It's really bold. Event, event. You'll hear from me. You need stronger rules for chips and whatnot. But, no, we see this little cinema, and Mike's like, should we see a movie tonight after this, you know, lovely night out? Why does he want to encourage us? He loves movies, eh? He's like a, what do they call it, Cinephile?
Starting point is 00:35:27 He just loves movies. And I was like, yeah, look, we can go to the movies. File on the end of anything. I know. It's a bit weird, yeah. Peter Files ruined it for real. Yeah, yeah. Cinefiles are just people around as well.
Starting point is 00:35:39 I just love movies. Yeah. And if I was like, kind of. Yeah. Yeah. I love something too. We want to talk about it. So we say we're going to go to this movie and I'm dubious because I'm like, I said it wasn't going to go to the movies anymore.
Starting point is 00:35:52 If people are talking, if people are eating chips, I'm going to hate this. Anyway, we buy a ticket to Digger, which, by the way. The Tom Cruise movie where he looks, he's in prosthetics. It's bat shit insane. Yeah, the trailer didn't. I was like, ah. Bombed a bit, though, didn't it at the box office in the US over the weekend? It's quirky.
Starting point is 00:36:10 I really enjoyed it. Very arty. And then it flips itself on its head and you're like, A? And then it has a whole double storyline thing going on. I really enjoyed it. Which is probably because I was seeing it Tiawamutu. This is my hack.
Starting point is 00:36:25 The problem is I've been seeing movies in Auckland, in big cinemas where people go. We went to the cinema. It was tiny. It was a little curtain. It was like this. It was like only a little bit bigger than your television fledge. It was like perfect.
Starting point is 00:36:39 Cute. movies open like this, a little curtain like this, and we're in there with a group of six others in the front and I was like, here we go. Run my night, why don't you? Nothing. At one point, I wanted a lolly and I couldn't reach for one because then it would make me a hypocrite.
Starting point is 00:36:55 We were going to be the loudest people in there. It was so quiet, we're so respectful. Tiaoamu plays like a trailer that says, hey, this isn't your lounge. Yeah. Don't be like no talking, no this. People honored this whole respect for, the cinema. It was brilliant. I was the loudest one
Starting point is 00:37:12 there. Every time I took it like a swallow of a Coca-Cola, I was like, they're going to hear it. And they'll be like, bloody Auckland is coming and making a ruckus. And I'd be like, I know, it's the worst. It was absolutely amazing. It was just perfect. All we've got to do is drive 153 kilometres. This is my new movie hack. To watch a movie and then 153
Starting point is 00:37:29 kilometers back. On a tiny screen in an old probably earthquake-prone building. Oh, that thing's going down. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the new hack. It's like, I'm not going to the big cinemas anymore. I'm going I'm going to drive out of town to the boutique independently owned cinemas where people respect the cinema.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Well it's only because there's literally four other people in there. Yeah, it was brilliant and I was the loudest one. The ZM Podcast Network Play ZM's Flesh Forne and Haley. I'm very excited. I have followed, I was going to say this chick to my ride. I
Starting point is 00:38:05 have followed Bridie Drake for years on Instagram and now I get to me. I'm very excited. Welcome to the show, Bridie. you for having me. I'm so excited. So if people don't know you, I can't even remember what, not, I can't remember why I started following you, but what like led me to the follow. Basically, you started a company, you started small, you went, I don't want to work for anyone else. Let's just see how this goes. And how it goes is like upsize, upsize, upsize, and now you just, you're really young and you've got lots of money. Yeah, essentially.
Starting point is 00:38:36 I'll take it. Yeah, it's great. They're like, you should be very proud of yourself. Wait, I want lots of money, but I'm not young anymore. You're old. And you too late for an old man like me. And you also don't like working. I actually don't like because when you said, I don't want to work, I was like neither. And then you said for anyone else, I was like, oh, mine was full stop was there. No, so you started a company of pajamas, like really fun pajamas.
Starting point is 00:38:59 Yeah. So I started it when I was like 19 and I started with like $900 and then popped off online, kept reinvesting every single dollar and now it's a multi-million dollar company. Right. Has Peter Alexander Trump? trying to have you assassinated? You know what? Not yet.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Not yet. Not yet. Because I watch out. Me too. Yeah. Watch your back. Peter himself is coming looking for you. Where does Peter live?
Starting point is 00:39:22 And like over the, like how long did it take for this to happen for you to go from a $900 account? I'm just going to try something to, oh, I don't need to work for anyone else ever again. Well, I was working in a real estate when I first started and I was really bad at it. So it took me about six months there and then I finally quit. But then... How many houses did you sell in six months? What was that? How many houses did you sell in that time?
Starting point is 00:39:45 I actually bought one. Oh, but you weren't in real estate. Wait. You're supposed to sell them, not buy them. No, okay, different story. Real estate. No, I was only the admin, so I had no degree in it. Oh, right.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Yeah. We were coughing like, bullshit. When they were coming in to like sign the paper, oh, you've made a wonderful investment here. Yeah, yeah. I didn't even know what I was doing and I'm like, hella dyslexic. I was like writing professional emails.
Starting point is 00:40:07 And I was like, these make no sense. Yeah. And then, so you went, I'm going to start this company, and then how long did it take? It took six to seven years. I could start in 2019, so how long has that been now? Seven years? Seven years. So it's taken seven years to get to the point I am now.
Starting point is 00:40:22 So a little bit of time. And the point you're at now is you've got a TV show as well, which is coming out, which is it's going to follow you because the thing people love about you is often, and this would probably happen to me if I got this idea at 19 and then became as successful as you are, you turn into a bit of an intolerable asshole. Whereas you have not at all. No, I hope not. Well, on first impressions,
Starting point is 00:40:44 but pure average is the name of your show, which is going to be on neon. And it shows that you are very much a normal woman. You're very much a normal girl, and you've held on to that despite your extreme success. Yeah, I think it all comes down to my family. I've got a really down-to-earth Dad. As you would say in Australia, he's a Bogan.
Starting point is 00:41:01 Oh, we love. Yeah, if I walked into a room and was like, I'm a millionaire, I make all this money, he would be like, go back out, sit down, get yourself grounded and walk back in. So it comes from my roots and I'm like, you know, I've started with nothing essentially and then made it. So I think that keeps me quite grounded.
Starting point is 00:41:17 Yeah. And so if I was to walk in or hoity tooty, my family would be like, get out. Why do you need a TV show? I'm looking here. You've got 4.9 million followers on YouTube, 4.6 on TikTok and another 2 and a half on Instagram. That's more than terrestrial television or ever. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:33 You know what? I self-funded the whole project, and it cost me an arm and a leg. but I wanted to give people an insight and in depth to me that I can't really do on short form video. 90 seconds, it's hard. I find it hard as well just to eat it down. All the jokes, all the comedy of content. I just come up with just the gold, goal, gold.
Starting point is 00:41:50 So you just win. I'm just going to do this. Yeah, yeah. So it was just like a moment of fate. I was sitting next to a director one day and I was like just having a chat with her. And then she's like telling me about her story and how she makes all these films.
Starting point is 00:42:02 And I was like, oh, can you make one of me? And she's like, oh, yeah, that's yeah. And then I was like, no, really, I'm going to self-fund it, let's do it. So then I took it on board. And it took about a year and a half to get it through full production ready for streaming services. And it just follows you in your life as a business woman. How involved are you? Because I reckon at the point that I'd be with the money you've got out.
Starting point is 00:42:22 I'll be giving a check out. I'm a barly. I'm just, I'm hanging out. I'm traveling the world. Like, you're still very hands-on with the business. Yeah. But I also, it's a family-run business. So my mom, my dad, my cousins, my brothers, my auntie and uncle all work in it.
Starting point is 00:42:35 I'm going to your mum and dad's boss. Yeah. Well, no, my mum is essentially my boss, I would say. I mean, we co-run the company together. But what my mama says, I do. Oh, yeah, mama knows. She knows best. I'm just the face of the company.
Starting point is 00:42:48 She will tell me what to do. We've got lots of young female list. I mean, male, female, whatever, but particularly young women resonate with you. What would be your advice for a young person who is looking to the future? I don't know if I really want to work within this environment, that environment. What is your, I mean, I'm sure you get asked all the time.
Starting point is 00:43:04 You're like golden piece of advice for someone looking to achieve something like you've achieved. I would say really cliche, don't give up. A lot of people think that I was just this like overnight success, but I've been in business since I was eight years old. And I have failed. What was eight? I made calendars for my family members. That was.
Starting point is 00:43:24 Yes, I gave them my sweet eyes. It charged your family. Yes. That's how you make money off the family first. Wow. I would not have given my brother money. I would have got a free one. No, I would have bought her.
Starting point is 00:43:34 Well, art sucks too. I don't want to do that. I put all my family's birthdays in the one calendar so no one would forget the birthdays. That's good thing. Good, yeah. She's business-minded. And that was the first, like, you know,
Starting point is 00:43:46 showing that I was really called to business. And then, but I went through 10 years of failing. I got, I was in, like, a lot of debt at 19. But the fact that I never gave up is why I am where I am. And just like, you know, failure is not a bad thing. It's actually like a good thing because you just change, keep, Keep hard. I don't know what the answer.
Starting point is 00:44:06 You learn from your mistakes, don't you. Failure means, Bridie, you've got to get some criticism, some critique, and you've got to adjust. Yeah. No. First offer is the last offer. That's me. You don't like it. That's a you thing.
Starting point is 00:44:17 We can just give up. Yeah. Now we're talking. That's what Fletcher's approach to business. How can we monetize giving up guys? That's good idea. Let me think. Let's do that.
Starting point is 00:44:27 Well, honestly, I have. I've followed you for years. You're very inspiring and I love that you keep it real. That's very much my vibe. I will say when Peter Alexander came in studio, they had pajamas for us all. It's crazy, Bridie. You can send them later on, but, you know.
Starting point is 00:44:42 I feel guilty now. Tonight, when I snuggle up in bed in my Peter Alexander's, I'm going to be like, man, I wanted to support her. I'm willing to not be guilty for $25, and monetising guilt. Oh my God, there's a business mind. Thank you, there we go.
Starting point is 00:44:58 And just extremely lazy. Well, Bridie, everyone needs to follow Bridie Drake on. Instagram, TikTok, whatever, YouTube, but your show, Pure Average, now on Neon. Follow her life and how you keep it real as a very successful young businesswoman. Thanks for coming to studio.
Starting point is 00:45:12 Thanks for having me. Empty-handed. No, hang on, I've got to go back to Australia. Despite all that success. Thank you very much. Thank you. The ZM Podcast Network. Play ZM's Flash forun and Haley.
Starting point is 00:45:26 Guys, I reckon I'll say it. I think Cosmo's gone a bit timid on us here, the sealed section. I want to talk about pashing. I want to know how bad the patch was right now because Cosmo's released some patch tips. Now we sealed section, oh, geez, remember you rip it open and it was like, try scraping your teeth across his tongue
Starting point is 00:45:46 and you're like, okay, man, I wouldn't even thought to do that. And the guy's like, what's up? Oh, so, what's that? Was that an actual tip you're recalling from history to bite his tongue as an accent's your mouth? No, I'm making it radio PG. The tip I read from the sealed section. was to drag your teeth along.
Starting point is 00:46:05 No! Don't do that. Your voice literally went, no! Don't do that. I remember distinctly? I was like, holy moly. Don't worry, I didn't try her. That's a gateway drug.
Starting point is 00:46:19 Intentionally. Next thing you know, you're chewing on it. But they've got kiss tips on Cosmo at the moment. So you want to take calls and text right now, 0800 dials at them. Give us a text, 9669. How bad was the patch? Because we've all had a rock-in-law. What did they do wrong?
Starting point is 00:46:35 Maybe you've got a tooth through the lip or something. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's blood bonus points. Maybe they missed and started making up with your nose. So they were like common mistakes, going too hard, too fast, too much tongue, saliva, same pace the whole time, focusing on technique instead of listening to the person, bad breath, all that kind of stuff. And their tips are lame. Where's the teeth scraping? What are their tips?
Starting point is 00:46:56 What are they got? Nibbles. Start slow, soft lingering, kisses first. tongue control, mix lips in tongue rather than going full tongue or no tongue. Use hands, face, neck waist. Vary your pace and pressure. Read the room, breathe and take breath, ditch the script to do what feels right. Come on, Cosmo.
Starting point is 00:47:16 Yeah, when they're like, spin and then be like, you know. I don't ever remember reading a dollyed seal section that was like spit and then go gung, yung, yeah. No, but they used to just come up with like the most like batch of non-research tips. But it was the 90s in early 2000s. shit was rogue back then. You couldn't print that now. It's disappointing.
Starting point is 00:47:33 Because someone will do it to somebody and then they'll be like, I didn't like that, and then they'll sue Cosmo. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm so sorry, and they're up in front of a court of law and they're like, Your Honor, if you look at page four of the sealed section, it says spit and then go, the judge is like, you know, no harm to foul. I definitely had some bad passions.
Starting point is 00:47:51 My first ever makeout, like when I was a teenager, like full, like nom, mom, mom, was with a guy called Men's who had a tongue ring. And I remember being like, it was like, ting, ting, ting, around my teeth because he was also a teenager with no technique. He hadn't read the Dolly Sealed section. Yeah, the tongue piece, I don't know, because it would hit the tooth, and you know when you'd dang your tooth on something, that kind of, that kind of,
Starting point is 00:48:14 that kind of, man, nah, okay, well, we want to know right now, 0800-DLZM is our number, you can text us, 9-6996. Oh, no, no! They're already coming in. The word double braces has been, uh... Oh, okay, yeah, we've got stuck together. Give us a call, 0,800-Z-M, 9-6-9-9-6-9-6-6-6-6. for a Texer Rooney, how bad was the patch?
Starting point is 00:48:31 Amy, good morning. Good morning. My bad patch was I went on a date. He asked to kiss me and he went teeth first and gnawed the skin off around my lips and it was red around my mouth for days afterwards. Oh, God. Oh, God. And were you like, is this what kissing's like?
Starting point is 00:48:51 It was like a few years ago. So I definitely knew it wasn't what kissing was supposed to be like. Oh, my God. But I just really, like, I wanted so badly to have a boyfriend. And then he said, yeah, we're not really that compatible. Did you have to explain to people like your parents or your friends, like what's happened around your mouth? Well, I was at uni at the time, but I did call in and my mum was in the car, so she now knows. Are you in the car with mum?
Starting point is 00:49:21 Or mum's in another car listening? No, we've now, I'm now walking with my sister. Oh, okay, great. Was your sister like, ooh. What if that's my day? What's with your mouth? Yeah, it wasn't good. Wasn't good.
Starting point is 00:49:34 Need a bit of bad. Also, when you were like, this happened at university, I was picturing early high school. That man really needs to work on his technique if he's in tertiary education. And I think he was final year as well. Yeah, okay. That's terrible. What was he studying?
Starting point is 00:49:49 Oh, I think it was computer science. Okay, that stacks up. It doesn't be chemistry or something. Amy, thank you. Ryan, how bad? was the patch? Oh, the patch itself wasn't that bad. It was what happened following it.
Starting point is 00:50:04 So me and my partner at the time we were camping. And we both had our nose pierces with nose rings. Bad ass, badass, Ryan. And somehow in the middle of that patch, hers had a slight gap in it. No. And mine had made its way in through that gap, and we were stuck together.
Starting point is 00:50:22 Oh, Jesus. We had to try and wriggle our way out of the tent and go and wake up someone else sleeping in their tent to get them. Nose to nose. Like dogs afterwards. They get dogs together. God, I thought for a second you pulled away
Starting point is 00:50:36 and pulled them off and there was blood everywhere and oh, that could have been a lot worse. I'm still quite embarrassing though. Yeah, yeah. Oh my God. They managed to get it apart then. Yeah. Yeah, but it's not something you can do.
Starting point is 00:50:51 I used to have a nose ring and yet they've got a little like bit. Oh no. Oh, no. Oh, Jesus. Okay, keep your text coming in, nine, six. 9 6. How bad was the kiss? Me 38, him 49, had our first kiss eight weeks ago when we were saying
Starting point is 00:51:03 goodbye, both of our front teeth banged together. We've gotten a lot better since, but it was a bad start. Just worry out of practice. Wait, your first kiss together? Yeah. That's fine. I thought you meant in life. I was like, left it late. Jar bless. Laura said us at a party having a drunk patch. He got a bleeding nose.
Starting point is 00:51:19 We were both too drunk to realize when someone pulled us apart both of our faces and clothes were covered in blood. People are like what the hell. I wonder why it tastes a button. Yeah, shit. It's wet. metaly, metal taste. Double braces back in high school. We got locked together.
Starting point is 00:51:34 We weren't going anywhere. There's all these like, when I remember when I had braces, because I had a boyfriend as well, but he didn't have braces, thankfully. But there are all these loose little wire bits that all like just come out. And the untwist. Stab you. After the first day, she walked me back to the car before saying goodbye, I went in for a kiss and it turned into a patch.
Starting point is 00:51:51 I immediately regretted it. I've never felt so much teeth. It felt like there were no lips at all, just straight teeth. biting my lips and my skin it was so bad it stung for the next 24 hours I had a rash
Starting point is 00:52:00 that was hard to explain I had a guy run his tongue across my top teeth like literally licked across sideways made me doubt so many of my life choices
Starting point is 00:52:11 to look at looking teeth running my tongue across my own teeth for a furry check not someone else's no I wouldn't go eh la
Starting point is 00:52:19 I call memory it was 2004 I was 12 and his name was Robert It was in the middle of a spa pool at Moana Pool and Dunedit. It was the most aggressive, out-of-time French kiss. I fear Robert went on to live a life of crime after that aggressive passion.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Yeah, right. But I hope he's keeping well wherever he is. But he's probably in jail. My first kiss at 15, I distinctly remember the taste of luncheon. Oh, well, we all had a luncheon sandwich. It's just what you had back in the day. And it did linger. The moment you said the taste of luncheon, I can taste it.
Starting point is 00:52:53 Yeah, yeah. That chickeny hammy. Yeah. That's good stuff. And a bit of fuzz. There's a bit of fuzz. He's a bit of a peasant. Maybe some slimy.
Starting point is 00:53:02 That meat, that meat slime. That meat slime. Went on a few days of the guy instead of kissing, he would lick my face and lips. Like a dog. When I decided he wasn't the one for me, I thought, okay, I'll be the bitch who tells him the truth. I texted him some rather harsh but warranted feedback. And he asked if we could catch up a few more time so he could practice. Okay.
Starting point is 00:53:19 Well, they could be safe to say I ghosted him. Oh. I think I would have let him practice. I've already received the licking. If the licking was the biggest problem. I know what I want to be with him anymore. So I could be like... If he smelt nice and was good looking, you can teach him.
Starting point is 00:53:34 Unless he tasted like luncheon. Unless he was a bit luncheoning. The ZDem podcast network. What's going on? ZDM's Fletch, Vaughn and Haley. Flew to Sydney on Wednesday, late Arvo. And then flew back at some ungodly hour, Thursday night.
Starting point is 00:53:53 and usually you'd be like, no, that's too stressful. That's really putting it. I couldn't go to work on Friday because my flight was delayed an hour, got home at 1.30 a.m., sick, everything. I was like, oh my God, who would do this? Well, it's a woman who gets given the opportunity to interview a spice girl. A lifelong dream.
Starting point is 00:54:11 Who was the leader of the spice girls? In your mind. Melanie C. So I was always of the opinion that Ginger Spice was the leader of the Spice. No, no. No, no, no. But then this only came up because I was discussing it with someone at the weekend, and they said, no, Mel B, scary Spice was the leader of the Spice Girls.
Starting point is 00:54:29 No. We can all agree Baby and Posh weren't the leaders of the Spice girls. No, no, no, no, no. But I always thought Ginger Spice was... Ginger Spice. 966, in your mind, who was the leader of the Spice girls? I think if you listened to the music, for me, she was always the leader, Melanie C, because she was the singer.
Starting point is 00:54:43 The strongest singer, definitely, but also the most... Mel B was the strongest singer than Mal C. No way. Jerry was the... Jerry Ginger Spice was the captain of my mind. I just think you're entering a loser. debate. With me. Posh spice was there.
Starting point is 00:54:55 Posh spice was present. Posh spice was there. Baby was cute. Ginger was like attitude. Malby did a lot of like the kind of rapping and low singing and Malsy had the biggest voice. It was Mel C. Okay. No.
Starting point is 00:55:06 This is the, I'll continue to collate the results. Absolutely ginger spice. Ginger spice or Mel B. Ginger, I agree with Warren. Ginger Spice was the leader of the spice. Wow. It was scary spice. Mel B.
Starting point is 00:55:16 No one's saying Mow C. You're mistaking attitude for leadership. No, it was leadership. Listen to the music. And then you'll be able to tell who is the leader of the Spice Girls. It's Melanie C. No, it's definitely not Melanie C, no a single vote for Mow C. Calate, Ginger.
Starting point is 00:55:30 They are a musical band. You'll keep collate. Now, this is a pretty exciting opportunity. You can borrow my pencil for this. Yeah. Oh, that's not sharp. I know. Is it a pencil game of you running here?
Starting point is 00:55:44 I'm fletcher? I've been writing with a blunt pencil all morning. Oh, my gosh. A time's really that hard at ZM. We don't have blunt pencils. God, it's... These are the conditions in which we work. I am Dashmore Confessional
Starting point is 00:55:55 vindicated over here because the text machine is not saying now see. I think you're a fake fan and I think that you're going off of like just sort of the five little bits that you know. I'm one of the most authentic Spice Girls fans you'll ever meet.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Now you will know I had a weird suicide patch when I was nine years old when my best friend accidentally got Spice Girls impulse in her mouth and then I sprayed it in my mouth. and then I sprayed it in mine and we held hands and waited to die.
Starting point is 00:56:23 Did I tell Melanie see this while I was over in Sydney? Yeah. Did she find it dark and not that funny? Yes. I was going to say, it's not a topic for everybody. There's a moment where Malsy says, you talk about death a lot. Now, you're going to get to hear this on Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:56:39 Jeez, how dark was this interview? There was a lot going on, but I interviewed Malsy. And you got like 10, 15 minutes with her? 20 minutes. Yeah. Wow. So this is all part of it. of Uber and Red Cross are teaming up again.
Starting point is 00:56:52 They've done this where it's October the 17. So that's not this Saturday, Saturday after. Following Saturday where you can book an Uber between 10 and 4 in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, free delivery for donating secondhand clothes to Red Cross, which is an amazing cause. You can give, I don't know, just old things you're not wearing any more. Quality things they will, obviously, not just crap. And you can do that in the Uber or the Uber. app and they'll pick it up.
Starting point is 00:57:21 It's free. So that you're not just driving around with sacks of clothes in your boot for two years. Looking for a clothing bin. But it's part of this, Mel C, Melanie C, is the face behind this campaign. So I got to fly over and talk to her.
Starting point is 00:57:34 And the great thing about this is even though we're talking about Red Cross and Uber's partnership, there wasn't that thing where they're like, don't bring up the spice girls. You know what I mean? Sometimes when they're like, they really want to focus on this movie. You're like, but I have to say this. Oh no, we went on.
Starting point is 00:57:49 And by the way, she's in this like cropped sports track suit. It was just amazing. I was beside myself nervous. And I actually saying on Wednesday you'll be able to hear it. You know, usually I'm like, I'll be able to get this together. She was so lovely. Melsie. Like, I just, I know, me and Malsie.
Starting point is 00:58:08 And then I sent a photo to my best friend. Yeah, I broke the embargo. Sue me. So sent a photo to my best friend immediately after the interview because we got this great photo together. And she was just like, Oh my God, yeah, it's a great photo Is that Mel C? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:22 So, very excited. Wednesday 8 a.m. Yeah, we'll have that on our socials. We have to play it out for you live on here. And then Saturday, the 17th of October, if you're in Wellington, Auckland or Christchurch and you've got some clothes you want to donate to Red Cross, order it through the app.
Starting point is 00:58:36 I'm actually trying to do the proper bit of this. Okay. The results are in. Mel C for Leader of the Spice Girls. Three votes. Okay. Mm-hmm. Mel B, Scary Spice, Leader of the Spice Girls, nine votes.
Starting point is 00:58:51 Okay. Ginger, Leader of the Spice Girls, 19 votes. Ginger Spice was a leader of the Spice Girls. Somebody said, I never considered there was a leader of the Spice Girls, but Jerry was definitely the Spokesperson. You may be publicly, but again. You need to rewatch the Spice Girls movie. It establishes Jerry as the spokesperson and leader of the Spice Girls.
Starting point is 00:59:14 Really? I've never seen the Spice World movie. Bring it my off. No, I'd never have. Oh, it's flawless. It's a perfect line. It's a perfect line. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:24 Gotta get in there. That's spelled bad. I mean, I just interviewed a spy skil. Yeah. The ZM Podcast Network. Play ZM's FlashForn and Haley. Ray was like me and Michael B. Jordan were just friends. Yeah, they just hung out a couple of times.
Starting point is 00:59:42 I was kind of gutted. They feel hot enough for each other. Where the hell is my husband? Michael B. Jordan. Would it be perfect? Wouldn't that have been a perfect end to it all? No, apparently not. Yesterday, I saw a sign over the weekend saying that it was going to be a market.
Starting point is 00:59:55 It's one of the new railway stations in Auckland. I thought, isn't that lovely thing to do on a Sunday? Go to the market. What a white person thing to do. Oh, it brings out the one to me, for sure. Pop along to a market. It just happened to be at the train station where the Green Party were announcing their transport policy, which if you have a little tism for the trains,
Starting point is 01:00:17 you'd be pretty excited to hear that they want to put some trains between some major. I'd love to spend 18 hours going on a train to Wellington. Overnight, bitch, you can sleep the whole way. Yeah, no, I'd love to. Or I could just take a flight and get there in an hour. Yeah, how much is this train going to cost, though? Because I looked at flights recently, just domestic ones, you know, between our tiny country, between tiny city to tiny city.
Starting point is 01:00:39 And it's like 400 bucks. Well, I went to even look at flights and I had to send in my little finger. Yeah. They were like, cut off your little finger and send it to me before you're have been allowed to look at Flores. I gave my first born. I don't know I'm not going to have kids. That's a deal you shouldn't be making that.
Starting point is 01:00:54 You can have my first born. They're going to come for your cat. Shit. Who you look at as a sort of a child. So the grand... Juliane Jenta and Chloe Swarbert were there because she's a transport minister and Chloe's deputy leader. But you just, this just happened to be there.
Starting point is 01:01:07 You weren't going there. No, I wasn't going to a political launch. Oh, man. Cool, cool weekend. Bro, bro. What am I going? But to be saying that, I didn't get very excited just. now about the options of trains.
Starting point is 01:01:19 You do. Trains, trains, trains. Yeah. And I was with Amy, my girlfriend, and we were having a coffee sitting there, and I was like, oh, there's Chloe Swarbrick. And she said, do you think she'd know who you were if you went up and said hello?
Starting point is 01:01:31 Probably not. I said, I don't know. I met her a couple of times, but Haley, of course, is the main inn. Yeah. To Chloe, I said, she's got a big crush on Chloe Swarbrick, doesn't see.
Starting point is 01:01:40 Electric. It's electric. Do you know what? I'm beginning to think, Haley's not the reason she liked coming on the show because I was sitting there. tap on the shoulder. Oh.
Starting point is 01:01:49 I turn around and Chloe Storebrook said, you want to help me do a public transport announcement? Yeah, but she's connecting with you on a tizzy level. Yeah. That's not chemistry. She doesn't want to shag you with you. No, of course not. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 01:02:01 For me, it's more an undeniable sort of sexual chemistry. Ah, I can't have that. I think she also sees a bit of tizom with you as well. She's sort of what you've got on. Tiz sees Tiz. Tiz recognized. Tiz. The train. And I was like, what are you got?
Starting point is 01:02:15 So I had a little, I got a little, I got told the announcer before the announcement happened. Oh, you were pretty. I was like, tell me there's more trains. And she's like, there's more trains. So then she, she said west. Just for personal. No, because she knows I'm, she knows I'm all about that train to Helensville. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:30 So, but not yet. That was my in to let her know I live in Rivet. So then she walks around, pulls out a chair and sits down. Mind if I join you. I was like, no, please do. So, yeah. And inadvertently. And then the news, I was like, oh, God, here we go.
Starting point is 01:02:41 Because the news cameras were like doing their setup and they were scanning around the crowd. Were you on the news? Bessar New New Zealand threesome? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Frapple. Yeah, what's going on here? Media and politics mix. Yeah, that's what I was thinking it was going to be.
Starting point is 01:02:54 I was going to get dragged into some right, some alt-right mainstream media. Yeah, we'll be on that bloody blog, whale blubber or whatever. Yeah, something like that. I was like just ahead of election. That's what I need to be dragged into that. But no, no, no, we watched the news. They didn't put that part on, which is good. You got what you see, you watched it and you got cut.
Starting point is 01:03:14 It's a bit sad when you do think I think I'm up on the news tonight and you'd sit back and like Mum, Mama Mum Come here, come here, it's a story It's a story I think I'm gonna be on the news Right, wasn't in the background
Starting point is 01:03:24 We were walking somewhere once And there was a One news or something was filming or something And you went in the background Like just like walk through, walk through And then it was cut That was what, it was crazy watching that Because then when they did their stand up
Starting point is 01:03:37 And like kids would like run in the background I think would be like wah Yeah yeah Yeah I'm gonna go home in tonight And be like, guess what, guys, I was on a, I was on Telestrial television. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:47 Wackadoo. And they would be like, angel tradition. Trying to get in the background of a news show. Fantastic. Yeah. Well, that's great. What coffee did she have? I don't know that.
Starting point is 01:03:56 She sat down with it. Oh, okay, right. She actually don't know. Because she's a green tea. You get a green tea. No, or she gives long black. I reckon she's long black. Long black.
Starting point is 01:04:05 She's long black. She gives Marcha. Nah. You reckon long black? She doesn't give Marcha. She gives me a matcha good feelings. Okay. Play ZM's Flesh Forne and Haley.
Starting point is 01:04:18 Fact of the day, day, day, day, day, day. Do do do do do do do do do to do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do. Oh, Fact of the Day is brought to you by St. Pierre's sushi. Facta Day sushi of the day is eight pieces of terriaki chicken for $8. $1.40. That's from the heart. Thanks to St. Pierce for that sushi cake, too, which I greedily took home all by myself. He was a sushi cake.
Starting point is 01:04:49 He went here, yeah, and it was addressed to all of us. He took it home. I took it all the whole thing. Did he say, I read the line as to it's my cake. It did say... We remind you more. We think about it more. On the outside, it said Fletch, Vaughan and Haley, but then on the note inside, it did say Vaughan.
Starting point is 01:05:05 Yes, it did. That's crazy, man. Something about unprecedented sushi sale levels because of his sponsor, because of its reading of the sponsorship. Suppose it's so clunky, people are like... They said they had to order extra rice. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:19 Extra rice. I know. We had to be like, ring, ring. Hello? I won't do the Chinese accent. Right. Hello. It's Japanese.
Starting point is 01:05:26 That's crazy. No, not our rice. That's crazy. No, and this is St. Pierre's ringing China for more rice. That's crazy. It's a French name, but it's definitely Japanese. Hello. And the rice is Chinese.
Starting point is 01:05:37 Hello. Hi, it's St. Pierre's here. We need more rice. Wow. And they said why and they said, well, unprecedented sales because of the sponsorship. You're not going to believe it.
Starting point is 01:05:47 There's clunky, there's clunky sponsorship. I reckon the Chinese thing might be the death of this. There's a awful sponsorship that we heard the first week and thought it's time to pull the advertising is actually working in our favour. I think the forgetting's been charming, but the Chinese thing was a bit of a cock up there. They were calling China for more rice.
Starting point is 01:06:03 Yeah, there's rice in Japan. Can you go quick? Where does the world's, most of the world's rice come from? I mean Japan makes rice. Does it be a big man needs proof? who do it does a Google? Do a Google. Make sure I'm not wrong.
Starting point is 01:06:16 Get in there. Where does the rice come from? It'll be India. Asia. It accounts for 90% of global production with China and India producing over half of the total worldwide output combined.
Starting point is 01:06:27 But of buzzmadi, but they put sushi rice in there. China is about 26 to 28% of the global total. India are around 28%. Followed by Bangladesh, India, Vietnam and Thailand. The fact of the day this week is not rice. It feels like it is, but it's not. It's like, it's like, it's lice.
Starting point is 01:06:43 Lies. Not lies. Okay. Lies. It's Lies Week here at Factor today. I'm going to start out telling you some statistics about lies and later in the week we're going to look into some big lies. Okay. Some of the world's biggest lies.
Starting point is 01:06:55 How often do we lie? A 2010 study showed that the average American adult lied one point six five times a day. A day. What's the 6.5 of, what's this point six? Five lie. It's where you get halfway through and you stumble and fall and then you teahee your way out of it.
Starting point is 01:07:15 So 59% of people reported telling no lies at all. 22% of total lies were told by 1% of the people. Have you guys told a lie thus far? We've been up for four and a half hours. Have you told a lie? No, I don't believe so.
Starting point is 01:07:32 Mine's TBC because I've told myself I'm going to the gym after work. But I can ask the show that goes on. It's fading. The motivation's fading. I know. I don't think I've told a lie today. But do you remember you said before you were like,
Starting point is 01:07:43 I hope there's hot people at the gym today, so that's your motivation. That's the motivation. I'm back, baby. Yeah. No, I don't think I've lied yet. But I'd lie every day, a little bit. I mean, I think little white lies, everybody does. No, huge lies.
Starting point is 01:07:55 I.D. lie. Yeah. But it's that classic, so 1% of the people were responsible for 22% of the lies. Like, there are just big, fat liars out there. So in a 2002 study, there was a, they video. videotaped conversations between undergraduates at this university. They didn't tell them what they were studying. They just said, sit down with this person you don't know and have a 10-minute conversation.
Starting point is 01:08:19 Then afterwards, they said, okay, now in complete honesty, individually, because we're not going to do it with this in front of the, we're going to sit down. You're going to watch your half of the 10-minute conversation, and we need to need you to tell us how many lies you told. Oh, okay. And people literally sat down and said, I didn't tell any lies. And re-watching, I were like, okay, that's a lie. That's a lie. 60% lied at least one time during the 10 minute conversation and the average person told three lies in 10 minutes.
Starting point is 01:08:45 Woman lied to make the other person feel better. Men lied to make themselves look better. Shocking. Shocking, then. The people pleasing women and the men's saving face. People think they're really good at spotting liars. People only spotted lies in across 206 studies that were collated. People could spot lies 54% of the time.
Starting point is 01:09:06 Okay. 50% for just a pure chance. So only just slightly better than a coin toss of whether or not you're going to be able to spot a lie. Yeah. Yeah. If they eyeball you well, they tell you, they're like, that's a prolific liar. That's one of the small percentage of people that lie.
Starting point is 01:09:42 Right. So apparently also your brain, when you first lie to someone, there's a part of your brain that sets out an electrical signal that's like, that didn't feel good. And the next time you lie, it's a little bit like, well, that didn't feel good. And then the next time you lie, like, well, I didn't really feel anything. Then it can switch around to be like, I'm getting more what I want. It feels good to lie to somebody. Oh, yeah, okay. Yeah, so the response.
Starting point is 01:10:01 Have you ever talked to a compulsive liar before? Yes. It's so weird. It's bizarre, yeah. And I knew a girl. And it was just like, would make lies that made no difference whether she'd said it or not. Yeah. Like little decorative lies that you were like,
Starting point is 01:10:12 it didn't need to happen. You weren't covering for anything or trying to, you know, it was just like just adding decoration. You went to school with one. It was wild to watch them and you're like, that's not true. Yeah. That's not true. That's absolutely not true.
Starting point is 01:10:23 Interesting. I'm going to enjoy this week, I think. So we're going to talk about lies or was that a truth. It was a truth. Okay. This is a lie I was probably going to have. No, it was a truth. Probably going to have a little cry.
Starting point is 01:10:33 So today's fact of the day is that there is a small amount of people who do the vast amount of lying. Fact of the day, day, day, day, day, day. Do do do do do do do do do do to do do do do to do do do do do do do do do do do do do. Play ZM's Flash Fawn and Haley. If you missed in the 7 o'clock hour I mention I know how to get to movies now. What I do is I will and enjoy them because I don't like where people talk. Go to a small town.
Starting point is 01:11:07 Went to the movies in Tiaoamutu. Beautiful experience. But just before the movie started, I failed to mention I offended someone who was a stranger to me. And this is what I want to ask our listeners. When did you offend a stranger? And how did you do it?
Starting point is 01:11:21 Just accidentally. Just you didn't mean to. Yeah. You said something out loud. The words came out and you're like, oh, they're out. They're out and they've been heard by this stranger.
Starting point is 01:11:31 So what happened was they have these little trailers and their local trailers. Oh, yeah. In Tiaoamutu Cinema. And there was a trailer. I'm not going to say the name because they might listen and I'm not going to double offend. Okay.
Starting point is 01:11:45 There was a trailer for a real estate agent. And his name was quite bizarre. Okay. And so I say the name. Real estate agents love promo. They love free promo. Someone might be thinking to move into Tiao Mutu. Okay.
Starting point is 01:12:01 I put it in the group chat because I can't remember it. Hang on. It's just here. And I just cracked up. Okay. It was avid... It wasn't that bad. It's just a name I haven't heard before.
Starting point is 01:12:11 His name was Noldi Rust. Okay? Okay. Tiamamuru, if you want to sell, I think it was a Ray White. Okay, there you go. I've made it better because I gave you free. Noldy Rust. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:22 Noldi. He's Nolty Rust. He's been a dairy farmer. Yeah. Couldn't leave anywhere else. My wife, Bevan I, both school locally. There you go. Yeah, nice.
Starting point is 01:12:29 Okay. So, Nolty. What kind of shirt do you think he's wearing in his promo photo for Ray White? Hawaiian. White, yes, but Hawaiian in nature. Because he's fun. Repeating pattern. So Noldi Rust's ad is there and I look up and I turn to my boyfriend and go, Noldy Rust.
Starting point is 01:12:48 And Mike just goes, he was like, he literally just heard the people, I remember I mentioned there was one group in there. Yeah. The moment that ad came up, what I didn't hear was a guy nudge a girl and say, hey, there's your old mate. There's your old man. Oh, okay, right. His daughter was there. And then it heard me go, Noel Dyerust. And then she turns around like, excuse you.
Starting point is 01:13:12 He mentions his daughters here on his profile. I'm going to have three wonderful adult daughters, two that live locally. One a bit further afield in Wellington. Well, I was with the local ones. They're looking at their 22-year-old sons working as apprentice mechanic. Yeah. But it's just a name you've never heard before because it just sounds like. I had a chuckle behind it.
Starting point is 01:13:31 It tickled me the name. And then she turned around like, excuse you, like, I'm baby rust. As Mike was being like, who dude, her friend literally just said, oh, look, he's your old man. Do you know what, Nolty's, it's a variant or short form of Arnold.
Starting point is 01:13:50 Oh, Arnold. Arnold. Someone just texted, Noldi's the man, best Asian in Tiaoamir. Well, he's got some awards I'm looking at his thing. Since he started in 2019, he's been nothing short of an elite performer.
Starting point is 01:14:03 Someone just said, He lives up the road from an old mate Nolty top bloke. Yeah, right. Now, I'm not judging his character. It's just a name that took me a back. A back. And it just made you laugh. And it made me go, Noldi Rust.
Starting point is 01:14:16 And yeah, Mike was quickly like, that guy literally just said, oh, there's your old man. And the girl just turned around and was like, excuse you. And I shrunk. Your boyfriend has to do a lot of nudging you and navigating.
Starting point is 01:14:27 Navigating. It's constantly like, what's she going to do? What's you're going to do? What's the next thing? But I offended the stranger and I do apologize. Great name. Upon reflection. Yeah, great name.
Starting point is 01:14:35 In the moment, it took my breath away. Okay, well, this is what we want to know. When have you done this? You've just accidentally insulted somebody. Accidentally. Okay. Already a very good message from a social worker. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:14:49 Okay. Should we start with that one? Yeah, okay. Go. I was going into Maccas and I offered to buy someone who was sleeping rough outside something that they wanted. I said, what can I get for you? They said, can I get a coffee?
Starting point is 01:14:59 I said, yeah, I'm going into Maccafe. They say they're a show sponsor, but not anymore. but they were. Former show sponsor. And we respect them still. And the person who was sleeping rough said, nah, I don't want one from there.
Starting point is 01:15:12 I want one from the fancy place over the road. Now, without thinking without hesitation, the words Biggers can't be choosers fell out of my mouth. We were both shocked. We just looked at each other. I don't use that phrase
Starting point is 01:15:26 because I'm a social worker for F's sake. Yeah, well. Biggest can't be chooses. Keep your text giving in, 9, 6, 96, you can call us as well. 0800, dials it in. How did you offend a stranger?
Starting point is 01:15:39 Hi, guys. I had the awful job of telling someone that their loved one had passed away. Oh, I'm sorry. What do you do for a living? I'm in the police. Okay. So it was hard, you know,
Starting point is 01:15:52 but you've got to do. As I was leaving out of absolute habit, I turned around. I'm like, you have a wonderful day. Oh, okay, it's just an autopilot, isn't it? That's just what you say. And I just thought, in that moment, I wish it was me who died. Yeah, oh no.
Starting point is 01:16:10 Did you like follow it up with the, I mean, I'm... No, I hope your day is appropriately bad for someone who's just left to love one. Just froze and looked at each other, and I just wanted the ground to swallow me out. Yeah. You have a good day. You have a good day. Oh, I will, thank you. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:27 Have the best day you can. I think if someone said that accidentally to me, you just let them have a though, right? You just like, oh, yeah. That's thank you. Oh my God, that's bad though. And honestly, not a bad person. No. It's not quite as bad as what Haley did,
Starting point is 01:16:39 which was actually more, it was quite way ruder. Yeah, I was way ruder. Anonymous, thank you some messages. Somebody said, I asked a girl at work if anyone ever told her she was very loud. She said, yeah, I have been told that before. It's because I'm deaf in one ear
Starting point is 01:16:54 and partially deaf in the other. From a childhood illness, so I can't regulate my own volume. Oh, my God. We offer discounts at work Super Gold cards. I asked her patient if she had one. No, never. She did not. Never.
Starting point is 01:17:08 She was over 10 years away from being able to get one. Oh, okay. I make sure I double check their age now before I ask them. I didn't even think that that could be something coming in my future. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Maybe you're about to have a black eye. A colleague was inspecting some expensive items a passenger
Starting point is 01:17:26 had bought through the airport. Without looking up, he goes, good Lord, that must have crossed an arm and a leg. Looked up to at the man who owned it was in a wheelchair, indeed without one arm and one leg. Oh my God, that's brilliant. They said you couldn't have scripted it better. Yep. So good.
Starting point is 01:17:44 So wait, did he exchange his arm and leg for it? Because it kind of feels like. He might have. He might have. If anyone might have, it would be that guy without the arm of their leg. I mean, a lovely couple at the dog park and they had a golden retriever. While chatting, they mentioned they had another golden retriever puppy at home also. I made the comment, geez, you must love the hairy carpet.
Starting point is 01:18:01 it. They were a female same-sex couple and it came out of my mouth. Pube's a bat. And we all clocked it and they smiled awkwardly and said goodbye and walked away. Just out here offending people left right and centre, aren't we all now? So many messages from people who have accidentally
Starting point is 01:18:21 offended strangers. I was at a wedding and the person getting married has kids to a couple of different men. They said to me, gosh, your kids look alike. they and as a joke I said it helps that they have the same dad. Didn't mean for it. I was trying to be funny but it didn't land. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:44 That's a bit of a dig, isn't it? My brother learned about cancels when he was about seven years old. We were saying goodbye to our grandparents at the airport and a large lady was walking onto the plane and my brother was like, whoa, check out that lady's cancels. Her adult kids were right next to us and they lost their minds and my brother turned around and said, They've all got cancels. No! Kids, you've just got to accept it.
Starting point is 01:19:04 I know. They just say anything. They actually say the dandest things. They do say the dandest things that they're doing. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Is there an idea in that? Kids saying the dandest things? Like a TV show?
Starting point is 01:19:16 That would be a bit outdated. We'll get Bill Cosby to host it. Perfect. Is he busy? Bill Cosby. Remarkably quiet. I'll reach out. I'll see what he's doing on Instagram.
Starting point is 01:19:28 No, he's daughter's messaged in. Oh, breadcru. Did you hear that terrible? Yeah, bread crust. Yeah. It was good. That was for the people who had been listening for the last little bit. Oh, they know Nolty's last name's Russ.
Starting point is 01:19:43 They got to put it together themselves. They had a little chuckle, give themselves a pat on the back. We all had fun. Noldy's daughter here, not the one you offended. His real name is Arnold, but he changed it when he was young because he got picked on at school. Oh, well, now I'm picking on him for Nolty. Okay, sorry. Nolty.
Starting point is 01:19:58 It's just an interesting name. You just never heard it before. When I was working at the movie theatre I asked a little person for his ID for an R-rated movie because I thought his friends were his parents. They were his friends. He said, how come you didn't ID my friends? And then I said, they're not your parents
Starting point is 01:20:13 and then I realized what it was happening and it was too late. I just think just stopped talking at that point. You know what I mean? Someone said, I was doing a consultation for a skincare appointment and the lady I was consulting told me that she has her father's face. She said, oh yes, I've got my father's face. And as a joke, I replied, maybe you should give it back.
Starting point is 01:20:30 and she said, I can't, he's dead. Oh, that's the worst. It's like your mama jokes ages ago. Like, we're going, your mama while she's dead. Okay. Okay. I have any of estrangeders at a bolstown and this person is very cocky
Starting point is 01:20:44 and what they were saying. And I said to them, oh, do you think you're good? And they responded, Google me. I've represented New Zealand. And I said, there's no need to act like a douchebag. And then it got very tense at the post-clough. It was like when I asked one of the owners and most famous breakers member,
Starting point is 01:20:58 you know, why was he at the break? I remember. Yeah, Tom Amacromba. I said, do you come often or whatnot? He was like, yeah. Yes, I do. Yes, I do. Someone was on a flight with their auntie,
Starting point is 01:21:09 and the auntie had their headphones on, and they were watching a movie, and they said, quite loudly. You know what the headphones on? You don't know how that loud are you speaking? She was watching a movie, there was a fat person on the thing, and she said, this person's fat like the person sitting in front of us.
Starting point is 01:21:22 Oh, God, no. Oh, God, God, oh, God. What's wrong with Andrew? What the hell? God, they just say it, hey? They think it and they say it. It just comes out. They just don't.
Starting point is 01:21:34 They don't think about it at all. The Z&Poncast Network. Play ZM's Fletch forune and Haley. I think we should just listen to Jonathan Bailey who has been, like, the internet couldn't handle it this weekend. Jonathan Bailey has been doing an audio book for Audible, for Dracula. It's a different take on it.
Starting point is 01:21:55 This is Jonathan Bailey. No, no, no, no. There is no living. You will not wriggle away. Drink from me. What? And with this baptism of my blood in your mouth, throat and veins, you shall be my servant. Jonathan, but...
Starting point is 01:22:20 Dracula. It was quite a long. Isn't this a lot? Everyone, this clip, that audio was just going viral over the week and everyone was like, is this like a Quinn or like an erotica thing? It's not. It's just the way he's chosen to read. Did he maybe, was there anyone in the recording booth saying maybe pull that back a little?
Starting point is 01:22:39 It's so much. So Amy Lou Wood from White Lotus is in it as well. Ella Pernel, that's some you can hear here in the background doing that. Jonathan Bailey. It's a great cast. It's a full cast. Maggie Gyllenhaal's in there. In Fallout.
Starting point is 01:22:55 We interviewed her. Yeah. I wondered why that rang about. Maggie Gillenhall is as Professor Van Helsing. new kind of take told through the female perspective but Jonathan Bailey's in there and like everyone's just losing it. There's video
Starting point is 01:23:09 of it too if the audio wasn't enough so he like when he's doing it they're in a booth and that she's kind of you know like this and he's there and he's like got his hands and he's like rubbing his chest and kind of like opening his shirt and all the girls are like oh la la la la forgetting that he's gay
Starting point is 01:23:25 yeah definitely gay but yeah it's such a horny little read I think it's coming out top of next year where this is going to be happening. But the teasers have already started. Wow, okay. Jonathan Bailey.
Starting point is 01:23:39 The ZDM Podcast Network. What are you paying for that you don't use? Like subscriptions, memberships, I know you were really bad at this. Are you still bad at this? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:51 I've got every, think of a streaming service I've got it and I pay for it. Every single one. Yeah. And there'll be ones that I don't ever use or like I've got friends that, like, wisely, cycle in and out. Be like, I'll turn it off for a couple of months.
Starting point is 01:24:04 Yeah, I do that. I do that. I'll get one. No, I've got the more like them to just sit there on my TV available if I want them. Wasting money. Well, I was talking to a friend over the weekend because we're out over the weekend. Even Vaughn went out and socialised. Yeah, that was incredible.
Starting point is 01:24:19 To see Bourne at a party. I know. It was incredible. And then it was a lot of alone time. Yeah, yeah. Recharge. To make up for the social interactions that you had over the weekend. can. So you ended up chatting to
Starting point is 01:24:32 some people in the fitness industry. Oh yeah. I won't say like where or what gym, but they were just talking about because somebody said oh like how many people never go? Oh yeah. Yeah. I guess that would be a big question. Because you know, sometimes you go to the gym and you see people like when you go all the time you see people like
Starting point is 01:24:50 never seen that person before. I know. Like there's always new people. I love when I see people. I'm like, they're always here because it reminds me I'm always here. Yes. Whereas at the moment I'm in a period of my life walk in the gym and some of the trainers are like, oh. Look, he's been asking for a while. Or you get that text or call. Hey, are you sitting around?
Starting point is 01:25:08 I think I'm on the verge of getting the call. Yeah. Yeah. So it was really interesting. They said that like it changed a lot since COVID. Before COVID it might have been a bit more than this. But at the moment, this guy that works in the gym industry, reckon 15% of people never go.
Starting point is 01:25:25 And they pay their gym membership. Like never, never. Like just never turn up. Yeah. was one person pre-COVID that signed up, I think it was like 2011 or 10 or something, they signed up then and at COVID, they hadn't been once. So that's 10 years. 10 years.
Starting point is 01:25:45 I definitely did, I reckon I did a year that I donated to Les Mills. A whole year. Yeah, I think when I joined Les Mills and I went half a few years, I think there was one year that I went, I just didn't gym. Yeah. I just didn't do it. And apparently before COVID and people started like really tightening up with money and obviously the financial crisis and tough times, it was more like 75% of people went.
Starting point is 01:26:08 Yeah. And it was like 25% of people that just never turned up to the gym. Isn't that insane? Because I think you always keep it there because you're like, no, I am going back. No, next week is the week. It's just this week. And then before you know it, it's been a year. It's just been a year.
Starting point is 01:26:22 Yeah. So this is what I wanted to know whether you're donating to your gym, whether you've got some subscriptions. Connie, 2012, man, every week. Every week. Just hoping they find them one of these days. Yeah. What do you pay for that you never use?
Starting point is 01:26:35 And maybe it's something you purchased, like you did buy an exercise cycle or a treadmill, and it's just in the spare room. That's a clothes horse. That's a close horse. A very expensive clothes horse. 0800,000 MSN number, 966. What are you paying for that you just don't use?
Starting point is 01:26:51 Somebody said, I used to own a gym. And a guy turned up that I'd never seen, It turns out he was a member and was there to pay his annual membership up front. He hadn't used it in the previous year and he said he feels better knowing he has it and intends to use it this coming year. He paid for the next year up front. I didn't see him that year either. What?
Starting point is 01:27:09 Like, just don't pay, dude. That same person said, I lost that gym in the earthquake. Yeah, the person who owned the gym. And I'm pretty sure if I hadn't closed the account, there would still be people who would just be automatically paying into a gym that simply didn't exist anymore. Yeah. That's wild. Jesus.
Starting point is 01:27:25 Someone said, I've paid a lot of ACC levies and haven't used it. Well, that's just sort of like taxes. The bus has. It's all the time. Thank you for not being accident prone, but being a good citizen. And you know what? You have one accident and you get it all back. All back, baby.
Starting point is 01:27:40 And some. I donated to a Jim and Nelson because I moved home to Fongare in 2020 and then COVID happened, so I stayed there. To be honest, I feel like I saved a business in time of COVID. Because I need to cut down on that. Yeah. Yeah. Just last week, I realized I was subscribed.
Starting point is 01:27:55 to an Instagram influencer. No idea what I was paying for. Tried to click on the exclusive content and it said error. I guess I've been giving away free money and no idea how it began. How did you do that? I don't know. And how would your credit card be linked to that? Okay, that's odd.
Starting point is 01:28:09 And what kind of influencer I'm talking? Someone says they pay for a gym membership with their son uses it. Now they're the clock locking down in those things. Yeah, they do, yeah. Kind of swipe them with anything. Your photo comes up. Like our gym, yeah, you've got to have your photo pops up. I look like my dad, but like not very.
Starting point is 01:28:25 that much. You know what I mean? Not enough. Hopefully. But also like if I worked at the gym and like, you know, Craig popped up on the screen and it was you, I don't know if I'd question that because I don't know if you've transitioned. I wouldn't want to assume anything. You say, excuse me, you're a woman. I'd be like, excuse me? According to who?
Starting point is 01:28:41 Yeah. Pig. You gender normative pig. I pay $20 a week for a gym that I haven't used in over a year. Just cancel it. Someone said, got to the end of the year and I was like looking at the accounts and I was like something doesn't add up here. It turns out we'd cancel our last internet provider, but we hadn't. We just moved and we'd be paying for two lots of internet every month.
Starting point is 01:29:01 Out of a business account. No. Yeah, that wasn't great. Some of the banks do that subscription thing, eh, where you can see what you've been paying. Yes. Yeah. Yeah, yes, they do.
Starting point is 01:29:11 You can go through them all. It just works out at what's coming out regularly, right? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. What's the same amount on a regular basis and they work it out for you. Yeah. So, I don't know. I'm going to do a bit of that.
Starting point is 01:29:21 If we've inspired someone to have a clean-up of their subscriptions. I can't have a bit of a bit. the sift. Plays A, ZM's, Flesh, Fawnan, and Haley. Z-M's. Well, I like to be liked, and I don't like not being liked, and I think about being liked more than I like to think about it. Sure.
Starting point is 01:29:36 Now, someone has revealed a very easy tip or trick to find out if you are liked at work, genuinely, if you're liked at work, but people don't just like, good morning, Fletch. Oh. Wow, true teeth. Tell them. We don't like you. No, we love you.
Starting point is 01:29:54 How to tell if you're liked at work is if you are part of a work group chat, of which there are many, right? Work group chat in which there is a lot of bitching or back chatting about other people. If you are in that chat, you are liked because you are one of the trusted people that have been invited to kind of talk about other people behind their back, meaning probably you're safe to say you're not being talked about. Yes, because there's multiple group chats. Like someone's playing all the games
Starting point is 01:30:25 Like our no Haley chat Yeah We've got nine the fletch Yep We've got no Vaughan We've got girl math The producer girls would have their own Yeah
Starting point is 01:30:34 So there are multiple I think it goes beyond that though It's like in your standard workplace It would be if there's maybe like eight people in it Yeah and we have no this person Because it's like if they're off air And we message all morning at 5 a.m It's a lot of messages
Starting point is 01:30:49 Or if we're organising surprise things We have those We message a lot because communication is what we do. Yes. We communicate with the listener and with each other. But yeah, normal work chats would be like Glassens, Glassens gals. You know, and that's the crew. All the girls that work at Glassens.
Starting point is 01:31:06 The cool ones are like. Yeah, and it's always like, what shift do you want? But also like, oh my God, did you see Samantha wore a doty pair of pants to work today? Girl versus Glassens. They're like, oh, my God. If you're in that chat, if you're in that chat, then chances are you like to work. If you like today's podcast, tell your friends. You could send them the link.
Starting point is 01:31:28 And if you don't have any friends, just pretend you did. Yeah, great. And rate and review. And maybe get out there and try to make some friends. Play ZM's Fletchhorn and Haley.
