From the Zedium Podcast Network, it's Fletchforn and Haley's Little Bit of Pod.
Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod, and I tell you what, it was a pretty special day for us Friday just gone, because we got to meet Suzanne Paul.
Suzanne Paul.
Could you, for our overseas podcast listeners, because we didn't have a lot of overseas pod that didn't have grown up with an icon of New Zealand screens.
Suzanne Paul was like the first infomercial lady in New Zealand, like that you would be.
like that's Suzanne Paul like her personality shone through yeah and then she became famous and she
was on TV show like she did guess who's coming to dinner yeah that's right she was well known
for her infomercials like she was just just an icon of the time and her popular brand
was thin lizzie yep that wasn't kind of what she started with because it had the natural glow
natural glow and then in turn changed names natural glow oh was that natural glow natural glow became
finn lizzie yeah it's the same company huh i thought there were two different things interesting
well um we got to meet her and we have met her before eh on the radio show a few times yeah i think so
once or twice okay i've just found an information from 1993 for another one of her very well-known products
the suzanne clip which is how she got up here full of clothes but nothing to wear you know you really
don't need a lot of clothes to look well dressed if you know how to fold a scarf and how to keep
it in place using the specially designed suzanne clip
Then you always look elegant and well-dressed.
There she is.
Try folding a large square scarf in half.
She's so great.
She's so great.
She's just brilliant.
And we got to meet her.
Yeah.
We went to this thing and there was a thin Lizzie stand there.
And then rather than getting some pleb to man,
there was the woman herself.
Yeah, it was a show sponsor event, the Chamester Warehouse,
Kimmer's Warehouse.
And I really saw it as an opportunity.
Because most stalls had like, most stills had just like, I guess, workers from the store.
Young workers.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Or, like, students that were, like, just, you know, had some part-time work.
But this was actual Suzanne Paul.
No, I'm Suzanne Paul. I love it.
I've got another one, another classic Suzanne Paul here.
Okay.
It's actually made up of thousands of luminous spheres.
Thousands of luminous spheres.
Thousands of luminous spheres.
Now, it was great to meet her, but then Haley goes one step further.
So, and...
When I, I would like to say that I'm the 2001 and then the next year, 2002,
point in cup award winner for speech at Middotai Primary School.
Okay. Thank you.
Is your name on a cup at primary school?
Yeah, two years in a row.
Wow.
And the first year, when I was 11, I did a speech on advertising.
Okay.
And I made fun of, like, tick-tac ads and, like, all the ads that were, like, popular at the time.
And I did an impersonation of Suzanne Paul with her thousands and thousands of luminous spheres.
Which you...
And it was my first, like, go at stand-up comedy.
Wow.
And I did an impersonation.
And I said to her, oh, my God, Suzanne, when we saw her.
When I was 11, I did an impersonation of you of talking.
You talked about thousands and thousands of luminous spheres.
And you did the impersonation.
I looked at her face.
I looked at Fletch, Fletch looked at me.
She looked at us.
Yeah.
She looked at you.
I think she liked it though.
I think she liked it.
I think she liked it.
Oh my gosh.
She's an icon.
What an honor to do an impersonation.
If you, can you, what's your best impersonation?
I don't do impersonations.
I just admit I'm terrible and can't do them.
When I was a kid, I used to pride myself on it.
But then I just stopped.
You've been working hard on your Trump, though.
China!
If you met Trump, would you say?
Can you check out my...
Tell me what you think.
Give me an honest tent.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No one better.
I know how bad my Trump is in this way.
I enjoy doing it.
Because it is terrible.
It's terrible.
But no, I don't...
I don't...
I don't dabble.
Fletch, you need to get one on the go.
No, I'm fine, actually.
I'm just...
Are you sure?
Yeah, absolutely.
What if you met a Persian?
and Rug Merchant
Would you do your character
Don't try to get me cancelled
Do your impression of Benjamin
Netanyahu
No don't try to get
Come on
Don't try to get me cancelled
Yeah no
Do you know
What he used to sound like
Am I not allowed to do that
No
Should we have stopped the podcast
Before I did that
We should have stopped
Especially with Hayley being
South African
It's very offensive
You actually really feel
quite upset
You actually really feel quite upset
