Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod.
Let this podcast be me starting the clock on how long it's going to take for me
to drop off the Salvation Army load in the back of my car.
Now I have boot full, back
seat full of stuff to
donate and famously
I'll leave that in there
I'll give it. Literally
you were like I don't know where to drop it and I've
given you like two locations
of clothing bins. I know but this is a big
city. I just can't. I just want
to arrive there and
it's just there. Like, you could pull
out from work and go just down the hill
200 metres and you're there. Where?
No, I'm not parking in a
city. I've got to go burbs.
And also some of it's shit. The supermarket
car park. Some of it's crap.
No, no, no. I've got stuff too, like
homewares. This is like an in-store.
Do you want to have a little shop?
They don't want your crap. Do you guys want to have a little shop?
There's news stories all the time of these poor thrift shops that go...
I know, they just want to see crap.
Lovely old ladies, they open up for the day and someone's left like a king-size mattress
from the 80s outside.
I know, that's piss stains.
Yeah, that's...
Piss stains.
No, that's horrible, don't do that.
No, no.
I honestly...
This stuff is my can't-be-bothered-with-trade-me stuff.
It's good shit.
I've got good stuff in there.
I've got designer clothes.
I'm just chucking them in there.
Why don't you put them on Trade Me?
I can't be bothered.
We're doing a big lot of Trade Me furniture, home goods and stuff.
Okay.
It's the pits.
It's just the pits.
Yeah, but it's money.
Marketplace is better.
No, but then you get scammed.
I don't want marketplace people to come to my house.
It's different people.
Yeah, true.
They don't take a chunk, though.
They don't take a...
Trade Me still takes a...
Yeah, they're taking a bigger chunk than ever before.
Yeah.
I know, but I just...
I can't.
I can't be bothered with the packaging up of the clothes.
I just want to sell stuff on Trade Me that people can come and collect.
And I say, what did you get?
And they give me the money and I can take it.
Yep.
All the other stuff, I'm going to do come and collect and I say what did you get? And they give me the money and I can take it. All the other stuff I'm going to do
a donate. But I just know I've had bags
of Salvation Army or you know op shop
donation stuff in my
car for sometimes like
close to a year. So let
today be that I'm starting the clock and then we'll
see how long it takes. And you only just cleaned
out your car too. No it's full to the brim.
You literally couldn't get in there now.
We. And the pistach literally couldn't get in there now. We.
And the pistachio shells
are still in there.
Of course they are.
Now I reckon I bought
those pistachios last winter.
So God knows.
Why don't you take your
clothes to that clothes
place that sells them
on your behalf and then
gives you a tiny percentage
of it.
They give you 50%.
Yeah.
But I mean they do
a lot of hard work.
I know but they're snobby as well. Like they design a stuff but design it from like three seasons ago. I reckon they do a lot of hard work I know but they're snobby as well
Like they design a stuff
But design it from like three seasons ago
I reckon they'll be like
Ew
Ew this is a loose stitch
Or something like that
Oh right okay
They're snobby like that aren't they
They're snobby like that
I don't know if that's snobby
Or is it just quality control
Yeah it's quality control
That's why they have quality stuff there
So which one are you thinking of taking it to
Well I don't know
I was thinking about popping into Te Atatu Peninsula.
Now that's sort of a semi,
that's quite a nice little area there,
but a very, they've got parks outside.
I'm not walking this stuff any further than I need to.
I'm doing charity,
but I'm not going to work hard for it.
Clothing bin?
Right.
Well, I know this is the clothing bin debate,
but I can't be putting pots and pans in there.
Nobody wants your crappy old pots and pans.
Someone wants a quiche dish.
I don't need my quiche dish.
Pots and pans you take to the St. John's.
Yeah, that's a St. John's.
The St. John's rules.
Do they want those?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't know if they do.
Great rules too.
There's a couple out by where we live, out QMUA.
Yeah, right.
But I've taken stuff there before and they said it was the wrong season
and I was like, fuck you then. it was the wrong season and I was like fuck you then
it was the wrong season for Pops and Pants
no no no like clothing stuff
and they've been like we're only accepting summer
and I was like take my polyprops
take my old haggardy polyprops
it's the best time of the year to buy polyprops
stained polyprops
that's a nice way of saying we don't want your shit
burnt out polyprop armpits and whatnot
They won't take it
Snobs
All of them
I think when we hang out
When are we next hanging out
Next weekend
We're talking about some drinks maybe
I'll take that as my
I'll go with you and help
Because otherwise
We're never going to get friends in the back seat
No
Or what do you want to borrow my car again
Here he is Looks like he's going to help me But the back seat. No. Or what, do you want to borrow my car again? Go on. Here he is.
Looks like he's going to help me, but really he's
teeing up, doing a runabout
and picking everyone up in my car.
