Starting point is 00:00:00 The ZM Podcast Network. Fleshwood and Hayley's Little Bit of Pod. Treat yourself to McCafe coffee with my Macca's rewards. Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod. Now, Teemu, you've used it. You recently purchased some vacuum filters. No, that was AliExpress. I was at AliExpress.
Starting point is 00:00:19 I went back. Do you prefer AliExpress to Teemu? I don't know which one I prefer because they're both bamboozle magnets. I just, wherever it's cheaper. Yeah, because our vacuum cleaner's broke. We've got the same vacuum cleaner. And Vaughn and I have ordered a trigger for $1.50. And a screw driver set.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Because the screw drivers are very hard to come across. And so if our houses burn down next week, that's because we DIY'd. I don't think the trigger is going to cause a house fire. Yeah. Okay. But I needed some stuff off. down next week. That's because we DIY'd the trigger. I don't think the trigger is going to cause a house fire. Are you sure? Yeah. No. Okay. But I needed some stuff off. Here's what I needed. Because I'm not paying. Here we go. Did you hear me
Starting point is 00:00:53 tap the desk? That had been I am not paying. That had my grandfather hard. He'd be like I am not paying. This is the man that used to just like go away and he'd come back home and he'd say to my grandmother I bought a bulldozer. And then he'd run away. But he'd be like I'm not paying the man this is the man that used to just like go away and he'd come back home and he'd say to my grandmother i bought a bulldozer and then he'd run away but he'd be like i'm not paying five dollars for that i'm not paying 80 for a universal garage door remote for some old fucking garage door situation yeah okay so i went on not my garage door with a garage door on the
Starting point is 00:01:24 on in the cottage we've got at our place that my father-in-law is living in yeah he's he's not paying $89 for a remote either so I'm like
Starting point is 00:01:31 I'm gonna find so I found one on on Timu how much? like three bucks oh my god right programmable
Starting point is 00:01:37 wait this can open any garage door I looked at what the the frequency was of the specific garage door yep make and model. And then I Googled it and found it.
Starting point is 00:01:47 And I was like, okay, so that's what I need it to be. And did some Googling and hello, there it is. Speaking of, I believe that could be. Carwin, is that one mine, the one in the white back? Can you bring that in, please? Because that could be my vacuum cleaner triggers. That could be the vacuum cleaner triggers, actually. Actually, both for us.
Starting point is 00:02:05 What's the big one? A big package for the three of you. Okay, now let me open this because this is from what have we got here? Yeah, here we go Vaughan.
Starting point is 00:02:13 Here we go. We've got the triggers. We've got the triggers. Have you got the screwdrivers? We've got the screw yeah, triggers. Okay. Let's have a little
Starting point is 00:02:18 anyway, carry on. Let's have a little a little corero and sort out this because that's the thing that really moves the screwdrivers. Yes! How absolutely fortuitous that we're literally recording this little a little corridor and sort out this because that's the thing that really yeah absolutely
Starting point is 00:02:27 fortuitous that we're literally recording this and and they both arrive what we're talking about perfect and they're long
Starting point is 00:02:34 too this is the other thing I had these screwdrivers but they were too short that's a long shaft man honestly China right China man
Starting point is 00:02:42 that was like a dollar fifty if it wasn't for the fact that their population boomed and now seems to be ceasing and it's going to kind of spell the end of their own. You know, they've shot themselves in the foot there.
Starting point is 00:02:50 But they couldn't keep growing at the rate they were growing. They'd be sorted. So I went on to Timu to buy the garage door remote. And also, I have a lovely Karcher wet dry vacuum that I was gifted from Karcher. Hashtag spawn. One of our podcast listeners actually works for Karcher. Oh, do they? Now, you've got more of those. Yeah, I've got filters from Karcher. Hashtag spawn. One of our podcast listeners actually works for Karcher. Oh, do they?
Starting point is 00:03:05 Now, you've got more of those. Yeah, I've got filters from a vacuum cleaner. Ah. I thought you already got those. That's for the other one that broke. Ah, this is your new vacuum. Yeah, this is for the new one. So you're going to fix your old vacuum and hawk it off.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Yeah. Great idea. But not tell whoever buys it. So I just give it to someone. No, I'm just going to give it to a friend. Okay, perfect. And if their house burns down, I tried. You tried your best.
Starting point is 00:03:27 So I found that and a lovely vacuum cleaner, but if you're doing the dry vacuuming, you've got to put a bag in it. If you're wet vacuuming, no bag because the water's heavy and it falls to the bottom and then you chuck it out. So the bags, take a while to fill up. I'll give you that. It's a big, big gutsy vacuum. But then I looked at what the replacement cost of the bags were. while to fill up I'll give you that It's a big gutsy vacuum But then I looked at what the replacement cost of the bags were
Starting point is 00:03:48 Oh like a hundred bucks Oh my god they were insane So I literally just like opened it Picked it open Picked the sewing open And like emptied it by hand No actually that was my old vacuum I emptied this one straight out the hole it went in
Starting point is 00:03:58 It took me like 25 minutes You know what you should have done? Vacuumed it out With another vacuum With another vacuum cleaner Genius Genius You know what you should have done? Vacuumed it out. With another vacuum. With another vacuum cleaner. Genius. Genius.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Why didn't I do that? I don't know. It would be a great idea. So I ordered a vacuum bag. I ordered the vacuum. All I went in for was vacuum bags. Yep. And the garage door remote.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Yep. But when I logged onto the app, it was like I was in a fucking casino. It was like, want to spin this wheel? I'm like, not really. I hate that. I don't want to spin this wheel, but there's nowhere for me to click that's not spin the wheel.
Starting point is 00:04:33 You've got to spin the wheel. So then I spin the wheel and it goes off. I'm like, what the hell? How am I going to get $350 off? Get out of it. And it's like, you want your $350? I was like, I guess so. It's like, all you want to do is buy two of these things. I was like, wait, so I've got to spend money to get the three. So I just went through and picked, I've got the email here.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Let me pull it up. What I ended up buying. What I ended up buying when I went for one thing. Okay. I bought a $12 Harry Potter t-shirt for my daughter. Because that was the only thing I could see on the list. There was nothing I wanted on this list. It was just your plastic shit junk.
Starting point is 00:05:13 So I bought a $12 Harry Potter t-shirt that says Hagrid's Pumpkin Farm. Because August will love that. She's a huge Harry Potter fan. Yeah. And then a sweatshirt, also Harry Potter, Ollivander's Wand Shop. Okay. Now, collectively, that cost that cost 30 free postage and you'll remember it unlocks 350 of credit so i'm like okay cool and then it's like order and
Starting point is 00:05:34 i'm like apple pay and it's like i didn't even buy what i wanted because i couldn't get out of the thing okay so now i'm in and it's like, ta-da, you've unlocked $350 credit. Yeah. Pick some things. I'm like, what? What am I picking? It's like, pick some stuff. Pick three things from here.
Starting point is 00:05:52 I'm like, I don't want things. And then it's like, what do you do on this? It's a three-in-one fast wireless charger for your phone, your watch, and your earbuds. I don't even have earbuds, but I was like, sure. That sounds helpful. I've got one of those. I'll put that beside the bed. That sounds helpful.
Starting point is 00:06:06 That's something I could use. And then it was like, do you want this? And it was one of those, remember when Sade bought that little car vacuum, that little handheld battery charged car vacuum, and I blew it up using it as a blower rather than a sucker? Yeah. So I got her a new one of those. Oh, nice.
Starting point is 00:06:18 And then some more Harry Potter stickers. Okay. Official Harry Potter? Nah, I don't think so. Just 50 Harry Potter stickers because August will really like that. Yep. Then I get my remote and my bags for free. But I've somehow spent another $30.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Yeah, okay, right. So of my $350 credit, the $15 I wanted to spend on actual stuff I didn't pay for, but everything else I paid for, bamboozled. Single-handedly flooding the world with shit we don't need. That's the thing. It's not like I was like, oh, yes. It was freebies. I was like, I don't want any of this stuff.
Starting point is 00:06:56 So I searched through for something that at least would be used in our house. I've just shut down Timu once because the same thing happened. I was like, I don't need all this shit. I just want one thing. I just want one thing. I just want one thing. But they don't want you to have one thing. No, they don't. They want you to have a multitude of things that you're never going to use.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Yeah, that's always actually quite refreshing going back to AliExpress. So AliExpress doesn't do that? No, well, they don't gamify anything. I mean, yeah. Yeah, the gamification of it was so bad. It's wild, yeah. It was so bad. of it was so bad. It's wild, yeah. It was so bad. But anyway,
Starting point is 00:07:27 so now I've got the things. And a whole lot of Harry Potter crap. Yeah, and you know what the best part of it is? What? They've just confirmed the Aramex delivery number.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Fucking Aramex! Hey, these screwdrivers and button were Aramex. And I am getting it sent to work. Yeah, so you're alright. So maybe out of work. I think when you chuck
Starting point is 00:07:44 rural at Aramex, it's like, hands up, my so you're alright I think when you chuck rural at Aramex it's like hands up my dude I don't know anything about anything that's not in the city business
