From the Zedium Podcast Network, it's Fletchhorn and Haley's Little Bit of Pod.
Welcome to A Little Bit of Pond.
I would like to take this moment to promote a movie that was never supposed to be.
Oh, okay.
The Coyote versus Acme movie is out.
Now, I don't know about you guys, but I'm a huge fan of the old Looney Terns films,
even the ones that are really problematic.
So it's this Roadrunner.
Roadrunner and Coyote, yeah.
Yeah, okay.
So the original movie was filmed and made and everything,
and then Warner Brothers were just like,
no, we're not going to release it.
Was it bad?
They said it,
I don't know why originally they said they weren't going to release it.
They did it at the same time as they made a Batwoman movie
that everybody also said is really good.
And like Will Forteys in this Coyote v. Acme movie and John Cina's in it.
All right.
I love John Cina.
And you watch it and people watch it and said it was really good,
but they reckon it was just like this massive tax write-off.
They're like, if we cancel it and it never makes any money,
we're not going to have to pay tax on other films that did make money.
Oh, okay.
It was a big tax dodge.
Now, there was a massive, like, backlash about it,
and they ended up, like, been like, okay, you can release it.
And now, jokes on them.
Number one streaming movie in the world last weekend.
Wow.
Okay.
Legally?
Yeah, I think so.
Okay, because it had a cinema release.
I don't know if I got a cinema release here,
but it had a cinema release and did really well,
and now streaming,
really well.
Okay.
So I feel like they don't have a desire to watch it.
I haven't watched it like old stuff since I was in art.
And does an anvil?
Does anvil fall on his head?
Lots of anvils fall on his head.
Does it hear grand piano and his teeth are now?
Correct.
Keyes?
Yeah.
Kind of,
so the premise of the movie is in this is in a spoiler or it kind of unveils
itself in the first couple of minutes is that there's like, you know how America's
full of those personal injury lawyers?
Yes.
And you see the tacky ads when you're in America.
You, so da-da-da-da-da-da.
Do you have asbestos lung to do?
Then I can help you.
Get money.
And it's him.
That's the role that Will Forte plays.
And he basically just gets cartoons who have had cartoon injuries
and gets them $300 at a time that the big companies are happy to pay out.
So it's this weird, funny movie with all those cartoon tropes.
Yeah.
But also is like this weird look at American law.
Oh.
And how big companies know they're doing people harm.
Yeah, so crazy.
They know they're doing people harm, but they just do these small payouts and just
silence them.
Yeah, right.
...riding them to court.
So then it becomes an Aaron Brockovich situation.
Yeah, love.
Love.
And then at the end, I tell you what?
A little tear in the corner of the eye.
Keep crying a cartoon?
A little tear in the corner of the eye.
Of course you're bloody wood.
It's like integrated.
Like space jam.
Yeah.
There's real life in this cartoon.
But it's really good.
I'll probably give that a pass to be honest.
I've just got too many things to watch.
Oh, there's so many great shows at the moment.
Yeah, great shows and movies out at the moment.
I don't know if I've got time for it.
This is a good one, though.
Is it silly?
Yeah, it's silly.
That's what it was.
It was nice and silly.
Yeah.
And sometimes you just need a little bit of silly.
Yeah, very silly.
So silly there.
Just like, I'm glad that we're not.
But it's also like very poignant commentary on the world as well.
And do you know what?
We've just started after we finished that.
What?
Band of Brothers.
It's the 25th anniversary of Band of Brothers release.
I cannot remember it being released just after September 11.
But it literally was like two weeks after.
Yeah, right.
Two or three weeks after the,
Temper 11 attacks. Bander Brothers came out
which is 25 years ago. And God, they'd all look young
now, wouldn't they? Dude.
Because that Michael Fastb is in it. Yeah, that whole
thing is stacked with
celebs. So stacked. Yeah, it's arguably one of
the best miniseries ever made. I would say
miniseries wise, there's not
Yeah. The Chernobyl miniseries is pretty good.
Can I just shout out of Dead Eyes? Again, as a podcast
to listen to if you're into Bandar Brothers. Dead Eyes. Do you remember that?
The podcast about the guy who auditioned for Tom Hanks for
Banda Brothers
And apparently got his agent told him that Tom Hanks said he had dead eyes
And so he spends two seasons being like
What the fuck does that mean?
What a dead eyes and how do I fix this dead eyes problem?
Great.
Really good podcast.
But yeah we had to stop.
We got half an hour into the first episode of Bander Brothers.
By the way, I forgot like I've watched it a few times
what an absolute prick David Schwimmer plays in this character.
Yeah.
And he hadn't finished playing Ross and friends when he played this character.
It was jarring for a lot of people seeing Ross from friends in Bander Brothers.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, Ross on Friends was toxic and problematic.
But at the time, wasn't.
But now it definitely is.
But this character was just like, you're like,
oh my God, that's right.
He was such an asshole.
Yeah.
And bad at us.
Great show.
Definitely worth watch.
Yeah.
Yeah.
