Fleshborn and Hayley's Little Bit of Pod
Great things are brewing at McCafe
The perfect start to every day
Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod
When I was flying home from Malborneo
I slept a lot, I was so tired
And so, you know me, I'm good at sleeping on a plane
Very good at sleeping on a plane
Yep, you're just out like a light
Yeah, and I slept with my headphones in Cranking a bit of porn, you're just out like a light. Yeah, and I slept with my headphones in,
cranking a bit of porn, you know?
Not porn, but, you know, a bit of audio.
Audio erotica.
Please call it audio erotica.
I'm sorry.
You don't watch that on a plane.
I didn't mean to be crass.
Quite crass.
I wasn't watching anything.
It was just some lovely audio fun times.
Right.
And so I fell asleep to that, woke up in the middle of that,
and then was like,
what's that noise?
And it was,
honestly,
I know that baby scream on planes.
I have never heard anything like this.
This was the most outrageous,
air-piercing scream.
I had to like turn,
I like,
like my headphones weren't blocking it out.
But you've got the,
really,
you have the same noise-cancelling headphones as me,
and they're great.
Spinny and best on the market.
You need to go a bit deafer and turn the volume up.
Yeah, I know.
Although also, audiobooks wouldn't,
like at least a movie, a TV show, or a music.
No, I switched.
I was like, okay, we've got to drown this out.
I switched to, I've got a playlist called Plain Rage,
and it's like heavy, heavy stuff. And I was like, right, I'll drown this out. Oh to i've got a playlist called plain rage and it's like heavy heavy stuff
and i was like right i'll drown this out oh my god the sound was just like like the most i did
record it i recorded it because because i couldn't believe what i was hearing yeah and the poor mom
i think at one point she like stopped trying trying to soothe, and I think she
started trying to restrain
this child.
As a parent, it's hard to choose when you're going
from soothe to restrain. Yes.
Because there does come a part where
you're just like, yeah.
Hand over the mouth. There was a little bit of that.
A little bit of breathing through the nose.
You've got to be quiet.
Honestly, I wasn't, I just felt so sorry for the mum,
but this kid was losing their mind.
And to the point where I was like,
did you ever used to have tantrums so hard
when you were a kid that you would vomit?
How old was this kid?
No, because in all honesty, and this sounds terrible,
we would have been smacked.
Yeah.
We would have been, my parents,
they just didn't know no different.
That was how they were.
Well, that's how my dad was brought up.
Yeah.
I was smacked a bit as a kid, but I used to, you know, I've always been very dramatic.
But was this a tiny infant baby?
No, it was loud enough.
It was old enough, sorry, to scream, let go of me.
So we're talking over and over and over and over.
Two or three.
Yeah, three, maybe two.
Oh, God, really?
Oh, my God, the thing was thrashing about.
Because I had a baby on my flight recently,
and it was an absolute screamer.
But I was, like, in front of it and had the noise-cancelling headphones.
It was fine.
No, no, this, it was unlike anything I've ever heard in my life.
Oh, my God, it's horrible.
I thought it would tuck her itself out, and it just didn't.
For the whole flight?
No, no, no, no, no.
Well, I was asleep, but for the whole 40-minute landing process,
that thing was going off.
Because that's when the ears happen.
I know, because I messaged you guys.
This is a little behind the scenes.
I messaged you guys saying, holy hell,
there is a kid absolutely losing their mind on this.
And you said, oh my God, poor thing.
Its ears must be hurting.
And I said, I don't give a shit.
Shut up.
Because I was like, why did we scream on landing until I had August?
And she wasn't young because we didn't take her on.
Oh, yeah, we did.
We took her to Vanuatu when she was real young.
But to be honest, we bookediderate It's so inconsiderate
We booked that trip
Before we conceived her
I think we celebrated
The booking of the trip
With some
Oh yeah okay
Some love making
Yeah right
And it resulted in
August
Coming with us to Vanuatu
But I remember
When she was two
We took her to Dunedin
To see some friends
And like
Just in the way
She was old enough
To be like
This hurts
This hurts
This hurts
Yeah right And she wasn't like Leave me go but she was like oh again drive next time to need it
like take the inter-islander make a thing of it leave them behind leave them behind
yeah i'd just leave them behind anyway god thoughts and prayers to the mom she was on her
own too and had another one oh wow okay so it. So it was a lot. Was it James Corden's wife?
No. Because there is that famous
story about James Corden ignoring
his wife and screaming child the entire
flight. Somebody who
witnessed it didn't even know. He was like, man, poor old
James Corden having to sit next to that woman and that screaming child
and it was his!
Such a good yarn.
