Starting point is 00:00:00 From the Zedium Podcast Network, it's Fletchhorn and Haley's Little Bit of Pod. Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod. Do not tell my mother that I am telling you this. Okay. She said to me, nothing to prove. I'm sure she'll tell people, but I think she'll be a bit of embarrassment. I'm sharing this with our ZetM Potty fam. The fam will keep it to themselves.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Yes, and come on, be good. So my parents, for the last three years overseas, have done the Spanish Camino. You know, the big pilgrimage walk and your walk and you think and that kind of stuff. But my parents who are 65 years old have done it in chunks. And they're finishing the last bit that they haven't done before on this trip. They're currently on it. Having a great time. Like it's great.
Starting point is 00:00:47 You just walk and talk and they listen to music and stuff. And then there'll be a little village. You can have a wand. Yeah, yeah. So you stay in villages along the route, right? Yeah, they stayed at a 20-Euro place that, you know, like they just love it. So, mum messaged me and she said, oh, we're going great guns. You know, they've got their packs on with all the New Zealand flags that if they see any other Kiwis then,
Starting point is 00:01:06 they've got their walking poles and their little things. They're having a lovely time, loving seeing the photos. And then mum said, oh, my God, we beat our own record. We did 28 kilometres today. Wow. That's great. Their goal was to do at least 20 a day. Wow.
Starting point is 00:01:20 So they're not, like, pushing it, pushing. Some people just walk and walk and walk until they, like, drop dead. 20 a day she did what we did 28 and I said oh good on you she said yeah yeah we're having a couple of wines having a couple of wines and then we're going to go to bed early and we'll wake up early and hit the road before the sun's fucking hot over there at the moment yeah I think a couple of wines must have turned into a fair few wines between patsy and Craig woke up the next morning and mum said oh we slept in and I was like oh gosh and then I I touched base with her later in the day
Starting point is 00:01:50 and I said, how's the walk going? And she said, oh, well, you know, we were quite sore. We sort of sore in the back and sort of tight legs. So we've sort of spent the day around this little village exploring and we're just going to catch the bus to the next stop. And I was like, wait, you could bus you. She was like, well, it's a bloody, you know, seven-hour walk or, you know, it's a 20-minute bus. Well, because you've got their accommodation in the next place.
Starting point is 00:02:16 I was like, that's the Camino. Like, that's the point of it. I know, but, you know, it's this long to walk, or this long to catch a bus? I was like, why you just fucking bust the whole way through? I couldn't. I couldn't, like, live with it? No, neither.
Starting point is 00:02:29 It'd drive me nuts that I'd done all that walk. Granted, they've done in a stages, but just that little bit, I'd be like, take us back. I know. I've got to go back and do that little bit there. I think because they've broken, if you were doing the full Camino,
Starting point is 00:02:40 totally, it'd be like, no, I've got to walk this whole thing. But they've done little chunks, and they've missed bits here and there and left early at one bit, and, you know, they're just sort of enjoying the steps. But I just love that they had a few wines, and instead spent in the morning having a nice coffee and a pastry
Starting point is 00:02:53 and a little look around a village and then caught the bus. Lovely. Why not, eh? So, you know, I'm just looking at how long it takes the full French way, Camino Francie. Excuse me. 770 to 790 kilometres. Wow.
Starting point is 00:03:06 Yeah. From St. Jean-Pierde-Deput in France to Santiago de Compatsela. What does Camino mean? It's like pilgrimages in it? Is it? I don't know. There's lots of Caminos around the world But this one's very famous.
Starting point is 00:03:20 You can do the Portugal one. What is the origins of the Camino trail? It's like a pilgrimage to like a religious pilgrimage. It is most people Yeah, to Santiago is the one that my parents are on. Right. I believe. So Camino is a Spanish word that translates to the path, road, route or journey.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Oh, there you go. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'm proud of them for doing it, you know. For busing. And I'm proud of them for just realizing their limits, having a cup, blue wines, and sitting just getting the bus.
