All episodes now available on iHeartRadio, Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. From the Zedium Podcast Network, it's Fletch Vaughan and Hayley's Little Bit of Pod. Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod. I love I told you so's. This should be no surprise to long term listeners of the show. I love an I told you
Starting point is 00:00:44 so. I love even I Told You So. I love even more than I Told You So is where it's so obvious that I don't even need to say I told you so. Just a look will do. And sometimes it's not even a look, just maybe even looking away from them, indicating they know. Silence speaks volumes sometimes, doesn't it?
Starting point is 00:01:00 And I love predicting what's going to happen and then the thing happens. This happened at the weekend. Okay. There was a child and it was a thing happens. This happened at the weekend. Okay. There was a child and it was a three or four-year-old child. Okay. And it was out of reach of its mother who was a while away trying to get a cheeky pic of the child playing close to a pond.
Starting point is 00:01:16 And I said to my youngest daughter, August, because we were playing some outdoor chess. Big chess. Oh, yeah. Beat her. She still hasn't beat me, but she got pretty close. This is the closest she's got. She's getting better. I don't know how some outdoor chess. Big chess. Oh, yeah. Beat her. She still hasn't beat me, but she got pretty close. This is the closest she's got. She's getting better. I thought parents these days are meant to let their kids win at things.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Fuck no. Yeah. Crash team racing, anything we play. Overcooked. It's never my fault when we get caught. Yeah, right. Our orders all back up and we fail the level. No, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:01:40 I'm keeping it real. Good. And I said to August during this chess thrashing, I said, that kid's going to fall in the pond. And I said to August during this chess thrashing, I said, that kid's going to fall in the pond. And she said, no. And I said, I'm not going to push him in the pond, August. No, don't do that, Dad.
Starting point is 00:01:52 He's going to fall in the pond. And she was like, do you reckon? I was like, look at this little dickhead. Is that what you said? I said, look at this little dickhead. About a child that you don't know. He's being a dickhead. And then
Starting point is 00:02:05 I turned back And I moved The bishop Which can move Diagonally of course Fletch Yep You're a big chess guy
Starting point is 00:02:11 I'm more of a You know Chinese checkers I don't call them that anymore Just checkers Germans invented Chinese checkers Wild
Starting point is 00:02:18 And then slammed it On the Chinese No it wasn't It was like It is racist Chinese checkers Because it's like Hard to understand Or something like that.
Starting point is 00:02:26 And that's how the Germans go with the name. It's as complicated as Chinese. Oh. So we're playing chess. No, we don't stand by that. Just to distance ourselves from the Chinese checkers. And I actually call them Taiwan checkers. Well, no, that's a separate.
Starting point is 00:02:40 You're a one China man. No, no, no, no. I've gifted them to Taiwan. Okay, right. As a make good. And the bishop moved diagonally and I put it down and then I heard splash and I didn't even need to look. And I looked at August and she looked at me and just was like, nod.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Nice. Like that. Michael Payne nod at the end of Batman. Was anyone saving this kid? Yeah. While you're sitting there feeling good about it. His mother panicked and like ran towards him. Oh, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:03:04 My baby, my baby. How into the pond? I just tumbled into towards him. Oh no, oh no, my baby, my baby. How into the pond? He just tumbled into the pond. Oh, okay, right. But it was gross work.
Starting point is 00:03:10 it had that stagnant stink to it. Ponds are yuck. Ponds are gross. Ponds are yuck. The minute a duck will live there, get rid of them.
Starting point is 00:03:19 Anything with like floating livery on top. Yeah. That's yuck. I'm not getting in there. Yeah, that's yuck.
Starting point is 00:03:24 It's too stagnant. Slimy. This thing needs to be moving. Yeah. We's yuck I'm not getting in there Yeah that's yuck It's too stagnant Slimy This thing needs to be moving Yeah We need to get a spa pool Heat pump in there Yeah A big filtration system
Starting point is 00:03:32 Yeah And some chlorine I think they call that a pool Yeah we should make them Into those A natural pool Yeah nice So anyway
Starting point is 00:03:39 It felt real good To be right To watch a kid fall into water Well I didn't see him Because I was moving the bishop As previously stated But I heard the splash, and then I knew, and I turned, and he was panicking, but he did kind of drag himself back up onto the rocks.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Right. It's sort of interesting that, like, you know, Fletch and I are always the ones who are like, oh, we sort of like it when you see a kid fall over or something like that, or tell them to shut up, and you're always like, no, kids are the best part of my life. Oh, mine are. Being a dad is the greatest thing that ever happened to me.
Starting point is 00:04:05 And we're like, sure. Do you guys follow Kids Getting Hurt, the Instagram page? No. Oh, you simply must. I didn't know that was a thing. 7.1 million followers.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Oh, amazing. Oh, that dog just smashed a kid. But the idea is the parents, they'll only take submissions from the people who filmed it, the parents.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Oh, yeah. And as long as the child sustained no lifelong injuries. Oh, yeah. It's like, what's that one? Kook slams. Kook sl no lifelong injuries. Oh yeah. It's like, what's that one? Kook slams. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:28 They always have to be like, he's fine. Yeah. Whereas there are those pages that will occasionally pop up on my Instagram algorithm where they are not fine. No, they're not fine.
Starting point is 00:04:36 They're dead. They're dead. And how the hell is this on the internet? I'm just watching a kid. She's getting pushed on a swing now. She is wearing a helmet,
Starting point is 00:04:43 thank God. But that's a broken leg. So anyway, I'd recommend kids getting hurt. This kid didn't even get hurt. He just fell on the pond. And I'm imagining ruined the family's day because he would have been stinky until they could have washed him. Like snagging a poop.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Stagging a duck shit pond.
