Starting point is 00:00:00 For a few years, in the 1970s, the Mr Asia syndicate made millions. Heroin creates its own market. It acts like a form of play. Until jealousy, betrayal and murder brought it all crashing down. Then he just pulled out a gun, shot her in the back of the head, and then said to Wayne, you're going to help me bury her. This is Mr Asia, A Forgotten History. All episodes now available on iHeartRadio, Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:00:30 From the ZM Podcast Network, it's Fletch Vaughan and Hayley's Little Bit of Pod. Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod. I am still the best in my house at maths. Oh, congratulations. I'm a 13-year-old, I think my days are numbered. But the other day, Indy had some time off school because she'd been sick. And her friend, how cute is this, by the way, her friend that lives up the road, who I'll give it a named shout-out,
Starting point is 00:00:55 Emily, is the sweetest kid in the world and super clever. She won all the awards when they left intermediate. She was worried about Indy missing too much school, so she asked the teacher if she could bring home her math book and then came down the road because they live just up the road she just brilliantly got out of doing homework for a couple of nights. Yeah. Oh, God. Now she's at high school, though. It actually sort of matters. Yes. And I sat down and I did that thing.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Wow. They do maths different now. No, they don't. What do they do maths different now? They don't. How do they work out equations? They do it different now. How do they do it now?
Starting point is 00:01:37 Numbers be numbers. Numbers be numbering. Well, it was just different how I learned to do it. You're familiar with bed maths, right? The mathematical situation of bed maths. If you've got an equation, Fletch is blanked over. You've got to do brackets first you're familiar with bed mass right the mathematical situation of bed mass if you've got an equation fletches blanked over you've got to do brackets and then exponents and their math multiplication and division but they they kind of did all the individual things i don't know it was just different to how i did it i remember yeah or
Starting point is 00:01:59 he was dumb but there was a question because he grew up in a rural... Because what decile school is this? Because yours was probably... This must be high. Yeah. This one she's at now. Higher than any school I ever went to on the decile. I can't say. Not that it means that you're going to be dumb. I know people that went to private school that are absolute...
Starting point is 00:02:18 Fucking thickos. Fucking dumbass. Dumb as shit. Dumbass. Dumbass. Waste of money. Dumbass. Like this one who just kicked over a lunchbox.
Starting point is 00:02:26 She went to private school. Dumb as. Doesn't even know where her foot's going. Dumb as. Got a degree in drama. Dumb as. So one of the questions was, three trains are at the station at 8 o'clock in the morning. Choo-choo.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Choo-choo. They all leave at 8 o'clock. Oh, 9 o'clock. One arrives back. 9 o'clock. One arrives back on a six-minute loop. One arrives back on a 10-minute loop. One arrives back on a six minute loop. One arrives back on a 10 minute loop. One arrives back on a 14 minute loop.
Starting point is 00:02:48 When are they all back in the station at the same time? It's a lot longer than you think. It was 11 fucking 30. Now I went in my head. Oh, because they're moving. They're passing. But when are they all there? Six, six, six, six, six, six.
Starting point is 00:03:00 I did all the sixes and then did all the tens. And I was like, well, this has it. And then I did all the four tens and nothing. And I was like And I was like This has it And then I did all the 14's And it had nothing Wow And I was like Another hour And another hour And then it got to 11.30
Starting point is 00:03:08 But I was I solved it first And I got it right 8 till 11.30 And then we did some Some big equations And do you know The iPhone calculator now
Starting point is 00:03:17 Just the standard iPhone calculator Got some You can put a bracket in there now Scientific Oh Yeah You turn it on its side And it's got all sorts No it's changed Syncos 10 And the latest update. Scientific? Yeah. You turn it on its side and it's got all sorts.
Starting point is 00:03:25 No, it's changed. Syncos 10. And the latest update has changed. You don't turn it on its side anymore. It's just a little option down in the left-hand corner to change the kind of calculator you got. That's posh, isn't it? Anybody know what?
Starting point is 00:03:35 We had to buy the $40 science calculators. They were expensive. And if you've seen in it now, you can literally with your finger write in the maths equation you've got and it will work it out for you. Oh, my God. Also, the calculator has a history.
Starting point is 00:03:49 So you can go back. I was like, what's in there? Can you explain? I'm going to get in trouble. It's going to be boobies. It's going to say boobies. Well, my most recent ones, we were interviewing Esther and Andy for their relationship.
Starting point is 00:04:00 I was working on the averages of their scores. Is that one the jacket With 40% off My one was Yeah I guess There's a whole lot in here when I was trying to work out How old the Simpsons characters were For the rest of the days Mine's often like
Starting point is 00:04:16 In a bracket 41 minus 3 times 7 plus 6 times 5 Closed brackets times 7 minus 3 I just drop out of school now. I just cleared all that. I don't want to look at what I... It's too hard. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:29 It is too hard. Just give up, you know? It's a lot. We'll just do drama. We'll just do drama. I've never used it. I've never used math. Ever.
Starting point is 00:04:39 You're literally just describing how you used math. Nah. Yeah, but not the bracket stuff. Yeah, but the tunnel, when they were like, how do you calculate the arc of a tunnel? I was like, oh, I don't care.
Starting point is 00:04:49 I'm never building a tunnel. Oh, I guess I'll never build a tunnel. Oh, well. Or you'll be underground tunneling out of a prison one day when we get taken over by a bigger sort of international power. That's right. And it'll collapse on you and you're like, if only I'd listened.
Starting point is 00:05:01 If only I'd have listened in fistful. I would know the strength of the tunnel.
