Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod.
I'm so excited that it's getting colder because it's crockpot season.
Yeah, I love a crockpot.
Now we talked about, we have cocktail nights,
and we talked about the idea of a crocktail night.
Where all of us bring a crockpot full of some kind of delicious slow-cut meat.
So you cook it during the day and then you put it in the car and then you get there,
you plug it in to keep it warm.
And imagine a bench, you know, say it's the six of us, a bench, we've got six crock pots.
Yep.
Do you know what I always think of?
Our United Nations potluck.
Yes.
That was an incredible night.
It was before your time.
It was a friend group.
It would have been going back 10, 11, 12 years.
And you were a representative of that show.
Was it Zach's?
Was it what?
Was it at Zach's?
No, it was at mine.
Was that your flat?
Yeah.
Do you remember?
Yes, yes, yes.
Zach was there though.
Yeah, Zach was there, our friend Zach.
And you each person had a different country or kind of food group.
Like someone did Mexican.
Somebody did Indian.
And you were, so I think, I don't know if we picked
and then messaged each other what we were doing.
Or you draw it or something.
That's a great idea.
Yeah, it was really cool.
I'd love to do that.
It did mean like you were absolutely chock-a-block at the end of the night.
Like you were just like, Jesus, I cannot eat anything.
Nothing follows a burrito like a curry.
It's like having a big night out after going to, like,
Monsoon Poon or an Indian.
Oh, it's not happening.
Yeah, it's not.
You're not.
It's not happening.
I'm off home for a...
You're going straight home after that.
I'm off home for a big wank and then bed.
Boy!
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
Full belly!
Yeah, nothing beats it.
Why then?
You can't make love. You're too
full. I apologise.
You're horny because you've eaten so well.
Anybody else get turned on by eating
well? Well, we should do this. We should do that
because I was like, it's crockpot season.
You're talking your cheap cuts of meat. You don't
even need a recipe. Yeah.
Tin of tomatoes, some cheap beef
and then some spices and stuff.
Yeah. Anyway, I was in the mood for it yesterday, so I got all the ingredients.
But then, I don't know what just popped into my head.
I had a hankering for risotto.
And I haven't made risotto in years.
I don't like risotto.
I make a good one.
Yeah, that's what everybody says who make a bloody risotto porridge.
You know why you don't like risotto?
It'll be exactly the same reason I don't.
It's because-
Diamond packet rice risotto growing up.
It's not risotto. Growing up, that was at
least two or three times a week. I think
I don't like risotto because that's what I expected
and want it to be, and then it's always
sloppy with mushrooms in it.
No, mine's not sloppy.
Like a good risotto has done well?
Mine takes an hour of stirring. Bit of
stock. Stir, stir, stir.
Bit of stock. Yeah, like that. Parmesan. I. Kind of like a paella. Yeah, like that.
Parmesan.
I did pea.
I did do mushrooms.
I did chicken, pea, and mushroom.
And I had onions and garlic.
And I didn't put bacon in this time because I didn't need it.
It was quite salty because my broth was salty.
Anyway, so I'd made this risotto.
An hour it took me.
Wow.
And I got it right to the right consistency, the parmesan and it was amazing and i've got one of those micro bladers you know those like little
microplane graters mini grater yeah yeah like that on a stick for garlic no no no i see you
i know you could do it for like uh like lemon rind or like zest yeah parmesan. And I got a nice block of parmesan an hour this risotto.
And I went like this.
Jit, jit, jit, koof.
Now, I'm wearing a plaster.
It was a fair fork and dinkum bit of my finger that went in that risotto.
Ew.
What?
Like you actually took a chunk out?
Like it took a real chunk out.
And I went, oh.
And I looked down and it was like with blood and then I wrapped it
all up with a bit but with risotto it's all timing if you leave it it's gonna stick or if
you it's gonna congeal it's gonna go too much you gotta keep going so I was like trying to get the
cheese in so we just went in and the fingers in there and we just ate it was fine like I left
your bit of finger in the risotto I had have made a quick taco mince or something,
and it took me 15 minutes, and my finger went in,
I'd be like, I'll try to look for it.
This risotto took an hour.
I've been stirring, stirring, stirring.
That's okay.
This is cannibal mince.
It's cannibal rice.
It's cannibal risotto.
It's a gateway to full cannibalism.
Yeah, and Aaron was like, what is different about this risotto?
Now, I thought it was because I didn't have chicken stock,
so I used beef stock.
Oh, yum, yum.
So it made it richer.
That's what it would be.
It could have been the finger.
Do you think he got the finger?
It was genuinely like quite a, it was real pissy.
Oh, yuck.
Yeah, it was so yuck.
It actually makes me sick just even thinking about that.
You know when it's like you cut it and it's like wet,
like it's like you've gone through it's like wet Like it's like
You've gone through a couple of
Yeah so we had finger
Finger risotto
But boy it was good
But tonight now
I'm gonna do the crock pot
Yeah do the crock
I might do a crock pot this weekend
Let's crock pot
Get it out
My only thing is
I've got more of a
Round crock pot
Than an oval
So I can't do like a leg of lamb
Or a chicken
Oh don't do a leg of lamb In the crock pot No you could. So I can't do like a leg of lamb or a chicken.
Oh, don't do a leg of lamb in the crock pot.
No, you've got to do it in the oven.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's a roasting situation.
That's not a crock pot.
Nah.
As you said before, you're cheap cuts.
Pulled pork.
You're pulled pork. Pulled pork.
Oh, yes.
You chuck steaks.
Easiest pulled pork you'll ever make.
Good stuff.
In a crock pot.
Love a crock pot.
