For a few years, in the 1970s, the Mr Asia syndicate made millions.
Heroin creates its own market.
It acts like a form of play.
Until jealousy, betrayal and murder brought it all crashing down.
Then he just pulled out a gun, shot her in the back of the head,
and then said to Wayne, you're going to help me bury her.
This is Mr Asia, A Forgotten History.
All episodes now available on iHeartRadio, Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.
From the Zedium Podcast Network, it's Fletch Vaughan and Hayley's Little Bit of Pod.
Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod.
I've got a new travel app.
This app's insane. Fletch has shown me the app.
Yeah, Vaughan's on board with this app's insane fletcher show me the app yeah vaughn was vaughn's on board with this app because i i saw a um uh news story the other day while i was researching for the radio show
and it was like the best travel apps you need and i was like okay you always use travel apps i use
none of them i love honestly and this is why i know the best airfares the best seats the best
airfares what time what kind of airplane.
And it had all the usual stuff.
It had like Google Flights, you know.
And I didn't know that Google Hotels is a thing also.
Did you know that?
No, no.
If you don't know it, there's a high chance I don't.
Yeah, so there's that.
All the usual kind of apps like Flight Radar was on there.
You love a bit of it because when you see a plane and you're like, I wonder where that's going.
Yeah.
Do you have Marine Traffic, the app that tells you what the boats are?
But why do you need to know you're not in the ocean?
I don't need to know that.
It's a special interest.
It's a special interest.
When I see a boat, I like to know where the boat's coming from
and where the boat's going.
It's of no concern to me, boats.
We do have a huge problem, though, as it seems. This pleasure craft here is parked in the Pack and Save car park.
Do they have, like, potato beacons on them?
Some of them must have it, but, yeah, then that one's off.
Right.
That one's off.
I don't think it's, yeah.
It does sound like it's off.
It's off.
But this app is called Flighty.
Ooh.
And I've, like, you can, yeah, it's, like, like kind of it's got a basic version but you can pay
yeah and then basically what it does is uh when you go on a what no you showed me this like now
i know the app you're talking about i was very impressed it's very interesting but basically
you put in all all the flights and then it will give you all of your stats all the flights you've
ever taken.
Now, because I use TripIt, which is another incredible app for, like,
your travel itineraries and all your bookings,
because I've used that for, like, 10 years, it imported all the old data.
Yeah.
So all of the flights that I've taken.
In the last decade.
And then it gives you these fucking insanely scary stats
about how much time you waste on planes.
And I realize it's very fortunate to be able to travel a lot yes but you know people that go away for work like love this
app people that travel a lot love it because it will also tell you about like flight delays
sometimes even before the airline informs you wow yeah it's really it's fascinating how did
because of your trip account that you'd logged all the stuff in it was you could import it easily
but what about your average joe well unless you'd logged all the stuff in, you could import it easily. But what about your average Joe?
Well, unless you knew what flights you'd taken,
maybe you could do it manually.
You just have to be from here on.
Yeah.
So in the last like 10 years or whatever, since I've –
this goes back to 2017.
I have taken 234 flights.
Wow.
Wow.
And I haven't even put in all,
sometimes the work flights I don't put in.
Little domestos.
I have travelled 14.9 times around the world.
Hell of a carbon footprint, go on.
Imagine if you're a flight attendant.
Imagine if you're a flight attendant.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
That would be insane.
I have been on planes for 35 days and three hours.
Oh, yuck. Imagine having to do that consecutively.
I've been on 26 airlines, 71 airports.
It's absolutely insane.
And then it breaks down like everything.
Your shortest flight, your longest flight.
I've been 1.6 times to the moon.
I feel like yours would be very impressive
because you travel a lot, at least once a year.
No kids.
No kids.
He's a dinky, dinky dinky dinky so you can say
double income
I don't know
he's a single income
no he does his night
his night work
oh his night work
that's cash only though
so the idea is
webcams and only fans
yeah yeah yeah
double income
those long toes
he's gonna keep those long toes
wrapped up in some fucking shoes
that's criminal
like it tells you like
your most flowing aircraft
and all that
but the biggest like
the craziest stats
it breaks down your delays
52 hours
lost to delays
Wow.
And then goes into like
all of the time
that you spend
in the plane
and on the ground.
Life's too short for delays.
You know?
Yeah.
52 hours
you never get that back.
Yeah.
What a great
that's so
numbers people
you would love this.
The data people.
The data people.
I've been in planes and in the air for 727 hours, 20 minutes.
Yeah.
That's fucking nuts.
That's so long.
No wonder you got to the moon and back.
Halfway back.
Halfway back?
Yeah.
Or was it 1.6 round trips to the moon that you've done?
1.6, yeah.
Wow.
But if you love your stats and it's a pretty insane app.
Yeah.
But yeah, it certainly helps if you've got your old flight.
And now this is non-spawn, I believe.
Non-spawn, yeah.
Non-spawn, just a genuine-
I'm not a travel influence.
Do I look like a travel influence?
I think you could be in the future.
I don't know.
Put those long toes up at the beach, you know?
Yeah, relax.
My long toes.
Just foot photos at the beach.
Yeah, now you're mixing work with pleasure.
Now you're combining them.
That's the thing.
You combine your two income sources.
Guys, the Island Explorer passenger ferry looks like it's just going to be a little
bit late onto the North Shore this morning.
Why have you got a boat app?
Do you see a cruise ship and you're like, I wonder where that's going?
Why do you care about boats?
I think my friend Amanda, she worked in Wellington
and she worked at a bank, so she was high up
and she'd watch all these boats come in and out
and she got to the point where she was like,
there must be an app to see who these boats are
and she was watching it and then she studied it
and would be able to say, oh, they're running late,
the Thoreland is late, like that sort of thing.
She watched it.
Maybe she was telling me about it
And she knows I'm a bit like that
Could she focus more on her fucking job?
Yeah do your fucking job
Do your fucking job
Amanda
Like what is your job?
Are you the ferry timetabler?
Or are you working at the bloody insurance company?
She's a hobbyist
No it's banking
Banking
Yeah
And they're doing it really hard at the moment
And they're paying for her and her hobby
It's unbelievable
Unbelievable
That's bullshit
