Starting point is 00:00:00 The ZM Podcast Network. Fletchford and Hayley's Little Bit of Pod. Treat yourself to McCafe coffee with my Macca's rewards. Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod. I'd like to debut something with you. Okay. This is a sock. Oh.
Starting point is 00:00:16 Hang on. Okay. They've been custom knitted for me. What have we, what, that? They've been custom knitted for me by my best friend. That's actually a tight knit job. It's a tight knit job. But I would have thought that's the kind of sock you chuck on in place of a slipper around the home rather than inside of a shoe.
Starting point is 00:00:32 No, it's not a slipper sock. No, no, no, it's not. My dad's cousin used to knit those, but a bit thicker. No, are you talking about the ones that have the little holes at the end? Yeah, yeah. No, no, no, no. My nana used to do those. No, this is a normal human sock.
Starting point is 00:00:47 And my best friend, who I will say used to be somewhat of a rock and roller, turned up to me yesterday and said, I've got you a small gift and she's knitted me a sock, a custom sock. Just one? Or a pair. No, just the one. Yeah, she's still working on the secret. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:01:02 I would have waited until she finished two. She just, she simply could not wait. What kind of material is the sock? Wool. It's wool. Cotton. Cotton. Cotton.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Cotton. Bless your cotton socks. Oh, she, I mean, she's knitting. She might as well wool, right? Make it wool. I don't want wool. No, no, this is a trans-seasonal sock. What, how did the wool, what's happened?
Starting point is 00:01:22 Yeah, because it's shiny, isn't it? It's shiny. No, and it's shiny, isn't it? It's shiny. No, and it's like, was it one color at one end and one color at another? Like a rainbow yarn or something? I think it's a rainbow yarn. I don't think she's done a custom yarn. I think in this, there's blue, pink, purple, and a bit of glitter. It reminds me of Polar Pops.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Yeah. Are you going to say she needs to work on the ankle? Yes. Wide. It's a bit floppy. It's gaping. It's a wizard's sleeve. She. Are you going to say she needs to work on the ankle? Yes. It's wide. It's a bit floppy. It's gaping. It's a wizard's sleeve. She needs an elastic kind of a...
Starting point is 00:01:48 What? Yeah. I've got a gaping ankle here. Yeah. I didn't want to give her feedback in the moment. I'm grateful for the sock. It's a really nice thing. She literally, last time I was down in Wellington visiting her, she measured my foot.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Oh, okay. She went full, you know. Did she tell you she was going to make you socks? Yeah. Oh, yeah, okay. Yeah, and then here they are, gaping ankle. But great sock. It's kind of one of those things you forget people can just make, a sock.
Starting point is 00:02:13 Yeah. Yeah. Because people just don't anymore, right? I don't knit. I can't knit. You can literally just buy a sock so cheap. I know. It's so wild to me that this is my best friend.
Starting point is 00:02:23 We used to sleep in her car together, you know, when we had a big night out. Rock and roll. Always off to gigs and stuff. And now she's knitting me a lovely purple glittery sock. And she's growing up. She's maturing. I'll say it with a gaping ankle.
Starting point is 00:02:35 With a gaping ankle. I mean. Like floppy. You know, that's going to slip down, isn't it? Yeah. I just sort of like. That's nice. That's nice though.
Starting point is 00:02:43 That's a nice sock. Whenever anyone has given me anything knitted, my appreciation knows no bounds. Oh. Because the time involved in this, the time and the thought and the concentration, that's a real gift. This is a woman who,
Starting point is 00:02:54 so she knitted her husband a beanie and he has a nearly bald head and discovered that the beanie was too big. Did you notice the disgust with what she said? Yeah, I did. A nearly bald head. You almost spat the word. I'm so sorry.
Starting point is 00:03:10 I love a bald man. He has a nearly bald head. Right. What if Jason Momoa was nearly bald or was bald? I would embrace that. It's okay. Really? It's not the Samson situation.
Starting point is 00:03:22 His hair's not giving him the strength. His hair gives him a lot, but it's not everything for me. I love the man inside. Anyway, she knitted her husband a beanie, and his nearly deliciously bald head was too small for it, so she gave it to Aaron. And Aaron, it was such a good beanie, Aaron thought, she left and he was like,
Starting point is 00:03:41 why the fuck did she go and buy me a beanie? It's such a weird gift. I was like, no, she knitted it. He didn't realise. It looked so good. Oh, right. Okay. She buys these little tags and she puts them on.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Gorgeous. Yeah, I know. So she knits things now. What a talented friend. That's talent. Yeah, I know. I know. It is beautiful anyway.
Starting point is 00:03:57 I think you're jealous of my gaping socks.
