Starting point is 00:00:00 From the Zedium Podcast Network, it's Fletchforn and Haley's Little Bit of Pod. Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod. Do you know, my children were watching their social medias at home. Yeah. And a song came on, and it was this song. Man, I haven't heard this in years. Yeah, it's been a while. So this is a radiohead song off the album OK Computer, which came out in the 90s.
Starting point is 00:00:28 This is let down What year was it in the 90s? 97? Five or six? Because the Benz came out. Um, okay, computer. Now, this, uh, 19907.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Yeah, released in May 1997. So, this is trending online. I was like, why are you guys listening to the radio? This is the album with Karma Police on it. Yeah, dude, this is a massive. Play Karma Police instead. Yeah, skip this.
Starting point is 00:00:57 That's, that's, that's... Paranoid Android. Yes. Paranoid Android. That's the thing. Exit music for a film. There were bigger songs on this album than this song. And I don't know.
Starting point is 00:01:06 This one's just trending online. Why? I don't know. Just one person put it in a video. Yeah. And now everyone is like, what is that song? Why is let down? It's very beautiful.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Why is let down? Behind Creep, it's the most used radio head song. This is. On TikTok. Oh, right. You can go just go on TikTok and see how many times what songs is. have been used. Radiohead creep is such a beautiful it's such a great song. It's beautiful but my least favorite
Starting point is 00:01:31 thing is when like little folkie gals do a cover of it. Oh my creep. It's like no you're not. You're the most normal thing I've ever seen in my life. I do remember being in Thailand and some guy was in a hotel foyer covering it and it was actually really good. I was like, okay, you're doing a pretty good job here. You're nailing this. You're really nailing this on.
Starting point is 00:01:49 We're just like a foyer musician. Yeah and they were just covering like all... Oh, just radio and 90 songs or... You know like in Bali, those bars on the beach? and they all do the performances. Yeah, like that. Very good. Okay, so apparently it's recent virality on TikTok and its inclusion in the TV is,
Starting point is 00:02:06 the TV series The Bear. Oh, okay. It was in the latest season of the beer. Was he? Yeah. So it's back charting again, which is wild. That made me open up the top 40, New Zealand top 40. This is just New Zealand.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Yeah, top 40 charts are weird now because there's no rhyme or reason. Because social media's screwed it all up. Yeah. yeah yeah totally rather than it being radio play it used to be what people yeah either were buying or the radio was playing yeah yeah yeah and now what people are streaming and some of the songs in there like have been in there which is why flitwood max yeah always you know traditionally all new songs yeah um it's mostly new songs at the moment uh k-pop demon hunters hold the positions of one It's crazy. 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 15, 29. So, like, pretty much all the songs of that movie are in the top 40, charting at the moment.
Starting point is 00:03:03 What's, like, right near the bottom? Because, you know, like, the killers, Mr. Brightside's always in there. Yeah, floating around down there, both the bottom. I think they are working to change how it's done, right, so it's only songs that have been released in the last little while. Oh, okay. No, Australia changed how they did their top 40. Because of running up that hill,
Starting point is 00:03:20 Yeah, okay, so if you look at like the top 20, top 40 albums, I'm looking down through the 660 albums still in there. Wow. 660 still got an album in there. I guess it's just an album people just put on. Yeah, easy listening. Yeah. Black Sabbath, that would be because Ozzy Osbourne died.
Starting point is 00:03:38 The Eagles, the Eagles, the Essential Collection, is number 20. So there's some older albums in there. Wow. But, yeah, it's pretty wild, eh? It's just crazy that radio And I was like Oh you guys And then I'm like
Starting point is 00:03:52 Oh let me run Let dad sit you down And run you through his favorite radio head songs Oh dad And they were like No we just wanted this one song It's the version of my dad Trying to make me listen to Bob Dylan
Starting point is 00:04:02 Yeah You really wanted to listen to that one Bob Dylan song because it was trending on TikTok But now I'm like Bob Dylan Do you know what I'll come around He had a point He had a point
Starting point is 00:04:12 Oh bobby boy Oh Yeah good This would have been my I'm going to go down a bit of a radio head hole today. I've been down a couple of radio head holes earlier in the year. I was too young. The problem is now when they tour,
Starting point is 00:04:25 they don't play any of their fucking good songs. No, they're too good for it. Because they're too cool for it. Yeah. Yeah, I was too young, but I got into it later when I tried to be all weird and dark. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. At the time, even in the 90s,
Starting point is 00:04:37 we were a little bit worried about the kids that went full radio head. It's the number one Google search when you type, when is the last time radio, and it completes the sentence, and says Radiohead played Creep. And it was 2016. Wow. This is my favorite radio.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Yeah, it's very rare for them to do that. They, in a concert in Paris. And it was the first time they'd played it since 2009. Oh, man. So they're kind of like on a seven-year honor. Yeah. A bit more now because it was the first one was seven years, but it's now been nine years.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Like that should be the last song they play. Because when they said, I remember watching an interview and it was about how, before the chorus hits, the ch-j-j-j-j- Jit jit, because they were all like, this is too pretty. It's too beautiful. We need to fuck it up a bit. So that's when they did that, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:23 just before the chit, chit, jit, jat, um, creep with the big guitar coming in. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That big, like, interrupting guitar, but they were just like, oh, this song's going too pretty. It's too beautiful. We're going to mess it up a bit. I'll chuck a creep on for us then.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Yeah, lovely. I'm happy to do a cover. I'm seeing here there's a glee cover. Oh, do we? Do you want a little taste? Cowan's excited about this. You know the glee cover? You know the glie cover's a great. Okay, let's have a little.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Well, I don't like that already. It's already brighter. Too, way too bright. And too well balanced. I want a perfect body. I want a perfect soul. That's here I. That's here I.
Starting point is 00:06:08 See, Theatre Kid, every song. Oh, who's singing this? Not Leah Michelle. Is that the creepy teacher? No. Or is it, Finn? Or is it the one that got done for child sex stuff? Yeah, that goes.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Fuck man, that, that, I will say that. There was a bit of a curse through that clock. Oh, you float like a feather. The world. That's her. How, you're so special. Specialer. I wish I was special.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Okay, good a... We'll just wait till the... Yeah. I hate it. Yeah, we can't end on this. Back to the original. Just play us some original, and we'll end there, I think. We'll fade out.
Starting point is 00:07:03 We'll show that for an acoustic original. Oh, yeah. Beautiful. See, that's just beautiful. Yeah, lovely. Beautiful. Yeah, how do you get that sound out of an acoustic guitar? You make love to it.
Starting point is 00:07:15 That had it. He made love to it with his fingers. It had a ring to it. Yeah. Anyway, radio heads back. It never left, baby. And I don't know why. That's how it's supposed to be sung.
Starting point is 00:07:28 That's the voice for the song. Get a little like you in the eye.
