Starting point is 00:00:00 Fleshborn and Hayley's Little Bit of Pod. Great things are brewing at McCafe. The perfect start to every day. Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod. Guys, I invest fairly heavily in our stock market. Are you talking about sharesies? I'm talking about sharesies, baby. Because I have not opened mine, because mine just sits there.
Starting point is 00:00:22 I haven't opened mine for ages and I saw it and was like, oh, gosh. Well, that's what they say with these long-term investing. You should just forget your password. Yeah, let them sit there. Forget you've got to have it go. Let it all take over. It's going. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Every payday, a little bit goes in, and then that gets automatically invested. Holy, holy moly. Holy schmoly. I've opened it for the first time ever. I'm at an 8.5% return. This is the best the Shazies have ever been to me, baby. I'm on 12.33. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:00:52 I'm working with financial pros. Oh, my God. A couple of gurus, if you will. When you say you invest heavily, you're talking like $50 a payday, right? So I've got... Because it's been just ticking along for years. Yeah. I've got $4,500 been just ticking along for years. Yeah. I've got $4,500 in there.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Oh my God. Granted, I have put in $4,100 of those dollars. I've made $400 in two years. Before tax. How do you find out how much, so mine says 12.33% return. Yeah. Amount put in, 445.
Starting point is 00:01:25 And mine's, I've made $200. Wow. That's pretty good. I haven't even been going for a year. Look at that. That's good stuff. But I'm going to put more in. It's not all good news.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Oh, Smithy. It's not all easy sailing on the sea of investment. What's happened? I've received an email. There's been suspension of trading of the Canasouth securities on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. Oh, yeah. Before the referendum, for those international listeners, a couple of years ago now? Yeah, it must have been.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Yeah. New Zealand had a referendum as part of our general election to basically legalize cannabis. Yeah. And I was like, I feel like the numbers are so close it's going to happen i'm going to invest pre referendum yeah in some cannabis companies that are already established because they've hit the ground running first to market yeah yeah this is why he's on eight percent that's really smart this is why he's on eight percent returns it wasn't though because it didn't happen did it i read the referendum wrong but it's weird people i know who voted my mother-in-law and my mother who voted no are now like it should 100 be legal i was like yes you stupid bastard you don't ask people
Starting point is 00:02:30 you don't ask the public things no just tell us what to do you just do it yeah we've put you in power we really stuffed that one up yeah yeah and also. We put you in power, we trust you is a dangerous, dangerous, might I say, current Russia, previous Germany. Well, yeah, but those people have been put into power, but they're, like, for example, Putin. Yeah. He's not general electioning. Well, no, according to you, I put you in power, I trust you. Yeah, okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:03 I trust you to just make Whatever decision you see fit Yeah Also currently Having in New Zealand Where all of our Central services and such Are being stripped of funding
Starting point is 00:03:11 So I didn't put them Into power Well The general population Did that's democracy manifest This is democracy manifest This man is touching my So what are we
Starting point is 00:03:23 What are we going to do With our Hard earned investments I mean I've got I'm up 200 here Well you've got to wait For them to disclose This man is touching my purse. So what are we going to do with our hard-earned investments? I mean, I'm up $200 here. Well, you've got to wait for them to just grow and grow and grow. I'm withdrawing now. Sit. No, sit.
Starting point is 00:03:32 I think what you've done is remind Hayley that she has shopping money. Yes. I opened it and was like, $600. Just sitting there. Also, Aaron doesn't know I have this investment. Oh, this is good This is private Wait this could be your escape fund
Starting point is 00:03:48 It could be for when I leave And you just leave to Thailand with $600 And then I'll ring him and be like Hey I've got a comeback I've got a comeback It wasn't enough money It's literally been two days I know I run out of money
Starting point is 00:04:04 The buckets I spent too much on the buckets enough money. Yeah. He's like, it's literally been two days. I know, I run out of money. The buckets. I spent too much on the buckets. My other investments are not going great. My food bag, that's down. Oh no. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:15 That's down, but I don't, what's a buy order? I mean, I'm an expert, but it's okay to ask if you don't know everything. Isn't that just buying more shares?
Starting point is 00:04:22 I can buy more shares. I'm not investing. I don't choose. Where's my wallet? buying more shares? I can buy more shares. I'm not investing. I don't choose. Where's my wallet? Mine's part of like a- A managed fund. A managed fund. That's what I do.
Starting point is 00:04:30 A managed fund. Warren Smorgasbord. Buffett. Again, it's okay to not know everything, even if I'm an expert. He said that's the way to go. Do you know, I was listening to a podcast. Someone was talking about him, and they said he didn't make his money until he was, like, the vast amount of his money until he was over 60.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Yeah. Oh, sweet. See, that's why he just got that in there. I've got a hand in almost 30 years. That's when I'm going to think, oh, mate, the vast amount of my money, too. It's when you're just about to die. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:00 So it's the place to be. Eight and a half percent. My God. Well, it's nothing on my 12.3. Yeah, exactly. F it's the place to be. 8.5%. My God. Well, it's nothing on my 12.3. Yeah, exactly. Fletch did day trading. Oh, did he? And then he tapped out.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Yeah. He benefited when everyone was making horrendous job cuts. Oh, my God. Do you remember that time I did have money in chairsies and that company laid off like 600 people and my chairs went through the roof and I was like, I don't like this game. Profiting from pain.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Yeah. Profiting from pain. I invest in a lot of green stuff, including the marijuana company, but that's gone under. I'm more like laser guided missiles, tobacco, alcohol, gambling.
Starting point is 00:05:35 What do they call that? Polar bear skins. Yeah, polar bear skins. Endangered animals. No, just ethical funds. They call it ethical funds. Mine's in a big ethical package, but you. And non-ethical funds. They call it ethical funds. Oh, because mine's in a big ethical package, but you've gone non-ethical. I've gone ethical-ethical. Is that where the money is?
Starting point is 00:05:51 That's where the money is, yeah. All right, I'll go double ethical.
