For a few years in the 1970s, the Mr. Asia syndicate made millions.
Heroin creates its own market. It acts like a form of plague.
Until jealousy, betrayal and murder brought it all crashing down.
Clark would have threatened him. Go and kill him. If you don't, I'm going to kill you and your wife and your son.

Little Bit of Pod.
Welcome to A Little
Bit of Pod. Well, we've crossed now to
producer Shannon, who
is a hero, I believe. A hero of sorts.
Not all heroes wear capes.
Some of them wear self-crocheted tops that they've made themselves.
And that's our Shannon.
Shannon, what was your heroic move?
Recently, I have let in two emergency services into my apartment.
Hot, I'd let in five.
Where did they happen to be arriving as you were leaving?
So the first one, some cops wee-wooed over.
Wee-wooed over?
Yeah, that's the scientific term.
Okay.
Wee-woo, wee-woo.
You know, I was thinking some cops wee-wooed over,
like, hey, cops, come over here.
Woo-woo-woo.
Lured them in.
Oh, wee-woo, wee-woo.
They wee-wooed over and they pull in,
and I was waiting for my groceries to be delivered.
But I will say your apartment has big wee woo energy.
It really really does.
I feel like the cops would be there at least once a day.
Yeah there's dogs that go around quite a bit.
Your building is giving flammable.
Yeah.
It is.
It's giving crime and flammable.
Crime and flames babe
Yeah
Someone hid in the elevator
To scare me the other day
Anyway
Yeah
We should talk about this
I
So I saw him again yesterday
There's an update as well
So Shannon
Tell us the story
Because Hayley hasn't heard it
So I get in the elevator
And they had put up
These curtains
Yeah
You know when people move
They put in like a protective
Oh I I hate that.
It makes me feel sick. So I walk in
and the curtains are quite bulgy
and I
get in, shut the door, and then this guy goes
and jumps out
from behind the curtain and I
when I say I screamed, I screamed.
Did you piss yourself? No, but like
I could've. Yeah, I know.
But if she had of had some water, she could have.
Yeah.
So inappropriate.
You know, bright women.
And then he just laughed and didn't say anything for the eight floors that we had to travel
together.
Did he think you were like his girlfriend or something or someone else?
Big drug energy.
How is all of that?
Oh, okay.
That makes sense.
Also, your apartment gives off big drug, big flame.
Crimes flamed.
Yeah.
It's flammable.
It's got a real late 70s
New York City feel to it
it does
yeah
but I saw him yesterday
I got in the elevator
I checked
because I filmed him
because I get scared
whenever I'm scared
I film someone
and I compared
same tattoos
same shoes
so I know he lives there
I will say something about Shannon
she's always thinking about
the true crime doco
yeah
there's a podcast on this
and the footage that will
be needed
after her death yeah no i literally
compared tattoos per photo same guy anyway so these cops we were over and then they come out
bulletproof vests and all wow and then they're actually stab proof but okay okay well stab
proof they are aren't they they're not bulletproof yeah i don't think you can see a cop out and about
do not shoot them and those and those security, they're just looking like stab vests.
Gotcha.
So these two guys come out, hot, we'll say,
and they said, do you live here?
And I said, yes, thinking I was about to be arrested
for just living there.
Like the vibe of my apartment.
Because it's flammable and full of crime.
And they're like, can you let us in?
And I said, of course.
But then I panicked.
Am I in an art heist?
Do you know about that famous art heist where the two guys pretended to be cops
and they're like, let us in.
And they let them in and then they stole this Rembrandt painting.
It's a classic route.
Yeah, because your apartment that gives off vibes of crime, flames, drugs.
Crime, flame, drugs and lifts that have fabric sort of
things and yeah, high end art.
Well, I panicked and I laughed.
I went, are you real cops?
I wanted to check
because we're not allowed to let strangers into the building.
Let's see a badge.
They just pulled up in a car
with sirens. It would be pretty impressive.
Yeah, if they were fake.
A lot of effort.
And they were like, like yeah we're cops
and I was like cool so I buzzed them in
good I don't know what they did but
I hope they solved whatever they were hoping for
were they attractive did they have large
biceps straining against their sleeves
yes yes yes I would have been like right over here
obviously here's where the flames are
boop swipe my apartment
the flames are in this bed or they're about to be
well then the next...
Because I've got
some infections down there.
Yeah, it's on fire.
My crotch.
Speaking of fire, though,
then the next night
I'm peacefully asleep
on the weekend
enjoying the fact
we don't have an alarm.
Gorgeous.
Wee-woo, wee-woo.
Wee-woo, wee-woo.
My apartment building's on fire.
Again, I said your almond gives big flammable
energy. It was big flammable energy.
So it went off at 4am on a Sunday morning.
Oh, fuck that. Not fun. You wouldn't even smoke
a cigarette near her building. Do you know what I mean?
I believe it's 90% polystyrene.
Yeah, it is.
We have to evacuate. I have to go down all these
flights of stairs. It was a whole thing.
I was panicking because I didn't take crochet with me.
And that's my price.
She's got projects on the go.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It was stressful.
So I'm sitting downstairs evacuated.
It's 4 a.m. on a Sunday.
I ask a pregnant woman if she wants help.
She had a baby and she was pregnant.
I went to offer her.
I was going to say, you asked a pregnant woman for help.
Yeah.
She's got enough on her mind.
I went to say, my work is 400 metres down the road.
Do you want to go sit there with me?
Oh, that's lovely.
But then I was like, does she want to work?
Bring strangers into the radio station and show them how it works.
No, I was going to give her water.
There's thousands of dollars of equipment here.
Yeah.
Anyway, I didn't bring her here.
But then, so I'm sitting outside the front and then wee-woo, wee-woo.
Yep.
Fire engines come up. Oh, okay. Any hot ones? Yes. Oh, okay. Okay, nice. her here but then so i'm sitting outside the front and then we were we were yep fire engines
come oh okay any hot ones yes oh okay nice and so they come over and they said do you live here
as if i was evacuated just for funsies outside an apartment i said yes and they said can you let us
in i said yes so i did you say are you real firefighters yeah no i could tell i let my
listen if they were your hose yeah yeah, she just said show me your hose.
But I was so excited because I know how
much you guys love firefighters that I took a
photo of them. Think they saw me.
That's alright.
I bet they get it all
the time.
They get it all the time.
But I let them in and I really felt like a hero.
I watched them put out the fire.
Like I saw them. Wait, so your building was actually on fire?
A little one.
Of course it was.
I think it was.
Of course it was.
I think it was one of those like, you know when a fire's not flames?
Like a smouldering.
Do go on, do go on.
When fire's not flames.
When fire's no flames.
When it's the grey, it's the grey, you know.
The cloud, the cloud that comes off fire.
Oh, it was grey clouds. I think of the cloud. The cloud that comes off fire.
Oh, it was grey clouds.
I think of like a wire was like, I don't know.
I could see the colour of the smoke and it smelt weird.
Okay, so there was actually a fire.
Yeah, we were evacuated for about two hours. With this smoke, there's fire.
Yeah, with this smoke, there's fire.
Yeah, and then, yeah, I just sat outside and then someone came over and they're like,
what are you up to?
And I was watching TikTok and the camera sat next to me as if to watch with me.
Oh, that's your experience.
No, that's weird.
I want to charge for some of the data usage.
Yeah, so would I.
That's a little 50 cent fee or something.
Yeah, exactly.
That's a 50 cent per vid, please.
But you know I'm a hero.
Oh, it's an honour to be in the presence
Of a civilian hero
A multi-time hero
And I have just renewed my lease by the way
So more fires to come
Because we were going to talk to you about it
