Starting point is 00:00:00 From the Zedium Podcast Network, it's Fletchhorn and Haley's Little Bit of Pod. Welcome to a little bit of pod. I saw Sima Line last week and I was like, shit yeah, and because we were talking about fish fingers. We were talking about fish fingers. How our different moms cooked fish fingers. Yeah. Because there were moms that oven trade them.
Starting point is 00:00:21 There was the moms that shallow fried them. There was the odd family with a deep fry. I think we got a shallow fry. We got a shallow fry in a sunbeam electric fry pan. Yeah, okay. That's how we had it done. Good stuff. And then we talked about it.
Starting point is 00:00:32 And so my algorithm was kind of a little bit fish finger heavy. And I got sent a recipe. Someone said, this has got you written all over it. And it's this guy making what he called a luxury fish finger sandwich. So you get nice fish fingers. Like a Rubin or a tothi. Dude, so I made this for dinner on Sunday. Like it was a dinner.
Starting point is 00:00:51 It's quite carb heavy. It was real carb heavy. It did look carb heavy. But look good. My God, it was. So you, as a filial, fish orderer. H Sproul would love this. See, this doesn't have me ridden all over it.
Starting point is 00:01:04 So what have we got? Are we going a nice flaky fish fing? So, yeah, I got the nice fish fingers. I didn't go for like the cheapest ones in the biggest fingers. What's a nice fish finger? Because I feel like they're all shit. Nah, this isn't pretty good. Fish fingers, by the way, still as good as you remember them being.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Are they? Yeah, but are they actual fish? Because they didn't have flake. This one had hawkier written on. No, it's mewling up fish anus. Did you go to sea lord? I don't know if I went to sea lord. I can't know if I went to sea lord.
Starting point is 00:01:29 but it was a fish. Because I don't want like a huge box of fish fingers in the frizz. I didn't need that temptation. So I put three fish fingers beside each other and then air fried them. I cooked them in the air fry. Oh, okay. Lovely crisp. And when they were done, I put some Colby Jack American cheese on top.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Like a filet of fish's cheese on it. And gave it two minutes extra. So the cheese melted on that guy. Got some fresh bread from the supermarket. Yeah. The in-house bakery part. Okay. Does it go a tiger loaf?
Starting point is 00:01:55 Fresh, fresh bread. No, not a tiger loaf. Also, the in-house supermarket bakery. isn't fresh fresh. That stuff's sometimes frozen and they put in the oven. It was bounced back. It was bounced back when you pushed it down.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Some of it's from Australia. I don't know. Yeah, I agree. Some thinly shredded lettuce. And so what I've never done before are the tomato. I sliced the tomato and then put it on a paper towel to suck a bit of the extra juice out of the tomato. Dry out the tomato and salted the tomato.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Why is soaking up anti-opin? This is what this guy said to do. Tomatoes are sort of supposed to be wet. Now the head. heavy lifter of the entire sandwich was the tartar sauce. I was going to say this sounds so dry and awful, it's going to need some redemption with some sauce. We homemade a tartia sauce with some Greek yogurt, some mayonnaise, some capers, some pickles,
Starting point is 00:02:43 some jalapinos, some mustard. This sounds like price-wise like, well, you could have just gone to Macas. Yeah. No, because I had everything, apart from the loaf of bread. Did you steam your bun? You know what I mean? Like, that's what the goodness goes. That's what I thought would have been, like, good for the bread.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Toasted the bread. Yeah. But the steaming would have been. And so, such a good idea. But then the tartar sauce did all the heavy lifting. That was all the flavor and everything. But the crunch from, it was really, really good. Yeah, it did look good.
Starting point is 00:03:07 I'd eat this for sure. Yeah. But you'd like a filet of fish. I love. This has got big filetow fish. Love a filet of fish. They're just so fresh and hot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:18 But the homemade tartar sauce, I just say, the tartar sauce that I haven't tasted it out of a bottle like that. Yeah, right. One of those ones I get a little bit nose in the air about. Oh, really? If there's going to be crumbed fish, there might have to be the special homemade tartar sauce. Lever and recent in it as well, actually. Don't ask me if the recipe, I can't remember it was just,
Starting point is 00:03:38 well, all was going in there. Hungry for a burger and not fish burger. I'm starving, I. But fish fingers are still pretty good. Because it's one of those things I said, I loved them when I was a kid. It's a tick of approval for you then. Did the girls approve?
Starting point is 00:03:50 No, I didn't have the girls at the last weekend. Oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. But no, they would have wanted white bread, butter, fish fingers, cheese and tomato sauce, I reckon. And that doesn't sound
Starting point is 00:04:02 anything. There's nothing wrong with that either. No, that's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
