Yesterday in a meeting, attention turned to next year, 2024. Well, Jared asked, he said, I need a couple of days off at the end of February. I might take the 29th and the 30th. And I laughed.

And there's a website that says some people can put it into their contract. The only reason you'll get paid by salary staff, you're on a salary, why salary staff can get paid extra for the extra day is by putting it into their contract. Well, I'll take a free day's leave if he wants to give me that.

Should we hold him ransom? Should we pick the day that we think is the extra day? And just be like, we're not coming in that day. February 29th. I mean, Jared's not going to be here. We might as well take it all off and be like, well, we're not getting paid any extra for this. February 29th is a Thursday. Do we want to push it to a March 1st? Should we Monday-ize it?

That said, you need to be careful that the extra day

doesn't take your employees' pay below the minimum legal rate. So if you were just on minimum wage. If you were just scraping onto the bare minimum and you did an extra day, you're actually technically not earning the minimum wage anymore. Right. Well, it might be time to call in the employment lawyer. I feel like the company will definitely have dealt with this before because there are some pedantic people in this industry.
