From the ZDM Podcast Network, it's Fletchhorn and Haley's Little Bit of Pod.
Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod.
I don't think I really talked about this at the time so much.
Did I?
I can't remember.
No, not on here.
No, not on here.
Some of you were dealing with behind the scenes.
Thank you.
Yeah, it really affected me most of all.
My boyfriend got rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
No, but I called an ambulance, didn't I, while we're at work.
I know.
This was insane this unfolding.
Yeah, I know.
So boyfriend woke up in the middle of the night, excruciating pain in the tum.
And then he, I didn't ask for permission to say this, by the way, so I'll just share it, you know, whatever.
That's what you get when you date sprawl.
So wakes up terrible pain.
By 2 a.m. he can't handle it anymore.
So he wakes me up.
And then I say, do we need to go to an emergency service?
And he does the man thing of like, no, I don't know.
It'll be a shame if it's nothing.
And then it's giving big appendix.
and so at that point I'm already at work
and it's giving appendix he can't stand so I call an
ambulance ambulance comes like he couldn't even get out of bed
could he? They were amazing
they turned up at the doorstep
I love a New Zealand mail will be bedridden and be like
let's give it a day yeah he was
but you shouldn't fuck around with the appendix
no shit no and it was right it was like
following all the signs of where the position
was and stuff heaps of pain
pain like second to none
and ambulance turns up they were incredible
you know did all the hooked him up to everything
and the thing asked all the right
took him to hospitals.
It's been at eight hours in hospital.
Kidney Stone.
Ouch.
Ouch.
Which he's passed now?
No.
He still hasn't.
No.
No.
I was going to ask because apparently that's...
It's just sitting in him.
Like a ticking time bomb.
Can they put a laser up your dick and zap it?
Yes, if it's six millimeters.
But it's not related to...
That's just your weekend.
That was, you know, those ones that they say you can't shine at the plane.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Just wanted to see the inside of your foreskin.
Yeah.
So he...
No, so at six millimeters they blast it with a laser,
his was five millimeters in which they say best of fucking luck, bro.
Oh, I'd just be like, does he have health insurance?
I'd be like, blast that shit out.
Yeah, dude, anyway.
Well, it was wild though, because at work, you were like,
am I just going to call this?
And you were at work.
I'm so scared.
I've never called an ambulance.
Calling an ambulance for the other side of the city.
Yes.
And it was right in the middle of the peak, like, do you know,
those headlines, peak traffic, yes,
but the headlines that the ambulance service.
were slammed with their busiest days and weeks.
Yeah, yeah, for sure it was that.
Because of all the cold and flu.
And do you know what?
They were amazing because I said, oh God, I don't know if I'm doing the right thing, you know.
Like I suppose maybe he could drag himself into an Uber or something or wait for me to finish work.
And they were like, no, no, no, you've done the right thing if he's in this much pain.
Yeah.
Anyway, but it's a kidney stone which doesn't have the same sense of emergencies of burst appendix, but very much.
Apparently the most painful pain a man can experience.
Right.
Similar to childbirth, they say, dare I say.
Oh, yuck.
So the other day, and I'm not really complaining.
I was just really surprised I didn't know this about our services in our country,
but he got a bill for the ambulance.
And I was like, I just assumed...
Because everything else is free.
Everything is free.
But that's not.
It is weird.
But I thought it was called the free ambulance.
No.
Or is it a Wellington thing.
Oh, that's why, because I grew up in Wellington,
and I always knew of the St John Wellington free ambulance.
Isn't it ACC or if you've got in?
insurance it'll cover it?
If you've got, if it's an ACC, if you're in an accident, the ACC covers it.
My dick accidentally made a stone inside of me?
I don't think there's an accident.
I don't think the dick made it.
The stone comes out the dick.
Oh, that's where I got confused.
But it had little to do with its...
Yeah, no, he doesn't have health insurance, so we just paid it.
It wasn't...
Well, the excess would be more than...
Yeah, it wasn't like exoratively expensive, but I was like, huh, I just learned that.
We pay for our ambulances.
Does that mean if I'm...
hungover and need like an IV drip and some oxygen.
And you're like, one-one, I feel like, shit.
$500 get hooked up in the back of an AMBO and my hangover will be cured?
Do you know what?
If it was an accident.
If I would pay 500.
I accidentally drunk too much.
Well, there are those places in Vegas you go get hooked up to the oxygen and an IV.
They do in Sydney and Melbourne quite a lot.
I mean, I don't get hangovers that bad than I would need an IV.
But if I was at a festival and, yeah, you're looking down the barrel of day three.
Yeah.
I don't know.
500 bucks could be well spent.
