It's Fletchhorn and Haley's Little Bit of Pod.
Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod.
I don't want to dwell on this.
I'm just going to bring it up because I'm embarrassed.
But I was in Sydney recently, and I did two shows in Sydney.
And I would say that they were good shows, but it was Tuesday and Wednesday in quite late.
You know what I mean?
It's a lot to ask of an audience.
I don't know who.
Even when I worked afternoons, I would,
wouldn't go out that late.
I'd always, as, yeah, I always opt for a weekend show if I'm going to the show, just so I
make a night of it.
Maybe if it's a Thursday.
Yeah, yeah, or for someone you're really gagging to see.
And that's, I mean, we've gone to Tuesday, Wednesday concerts and you just put up with it because
you're like, well, that's the day you've offered me.
Yeah.
So Tuesday and Wednesday and the Sydney shows where, yeah, good, but not my like, bloody
rollicking shows where I leave.
And I'm like, that was, you know, electric.
Yeah.
And so where I perform in Sydney, it's called the Comedy Store.
and then you, it's kind of in this big kind of entertainment complex.
And you have to walk out onto the, like walk through these streets a bit
to get to this pickup spot for Uber's.
Oh yeah.
And so I was sitting there with my guitar, you know, waiting for my Uber to pick me up post show.
Yeah.
And there's a lot of, there's a lot going on.
And there are multiple venues around.
But I did see two girlies that looked like my kind of crowd.
And I overheard them talking about.
their night.
Oh, okay.
And I was like, I wonder if they've been to my show.
So my ear, I just tuned it right in.
Oh, no.
Ailey, no.
And I heard the word awkward.
Oh, okay.
And I think it's a good description of kind of a few moments of the show.
That was a bit awkward.
Like, they weren't really vibing on it.
And I heard them being like, yeah, it was good, but there were moments that I thought were a bit awkward.
And I was like, oh, no.
And I think upon reflection, if I'm being honest with myself,
I think that we're talking about my show.
And I get so nervous that I hear people talking about my show afterwards.
I just don't want to hear it.
If you liked it, good.
Tell me if you like it.
If you didn't like it, just leave me be.
Like I don't need to know.
I don't need the review of it.
You know what I mean?
But I think I did catch them.
It is such a weird thing.
Like if you just worked in an office, you know, you don't get reviews about your day.
Do you in the paper or online?
Not in the paper or online.
but you have those meetings, those whips and stuff
where you kind of have to...
They reflect back to you how you go out.
Admit if you haven't done something
you said you were going to.
Like a couple of awkward moments in the office there, Keith.
Yeah, yeah, a couple of awkward moments.
You're not very good.
But the other one I love is, like, in Melbourne,
I was like the backstage in Melbourne, a comedy festival.
It's just a pop-up thing.
You'd literally just ducked behind a curtain.
Yeah.
So you hear everyone coming in.
And sometimes you hear people like chatting.
Oh, you know, I know, I'm excited.
And you're like, he-h-h-h-h-h-like, I can't wait to come out.
you.
And there was one night,
again, it was like a quiet,
late show on a weeknight,
and I heard these people coming in,
and they were,
they were ushering them to the front,
you know, like, fill up from the front,
fill up from the front,
because people get scared of comedians.
Yeah. And this woman was walking by,
she goes, fuck, I hope she's nice.
Is she mean?
I hope she's not mean.
And I was, and then I said from behind the curtain,
don't worry, I'm nice.
Like this.
She must have been like, what the fuck?
They think I'm in some kind of a,
elaborate backstage area.
I'm like, no, no, no, this is, I'm a...
Just behind a curtain.
There's an unknown comedian over here.
Well, it's not a job for people with thin skin, is it?
No, it's not.
And so, yeah, my review is that I am nice, and I'm not mean, and also maybe some moments
are a little bit awkward.
