Starting point is 00:00:00 From the ZDEM Podcast Network, it's Fletchhorn and Haley's Little Bit of Pod. Welcome to A Little Bit of Pond. And wow, look at that, the trusty aqua. I know. Carwin's trusty aqua that she got after her last acquire was used in a ram raid during that. Remember the height of ramarats? And there's a height of aquas being the most stolen vehicle. Yeah, because where did your one end up in a dairy?
Starting point is 00:00:25 You know what? It was actually abandoned on the side of the road, but I think it went for a dairy, but it got stopped by those bollards. And that's why they knew it was used in a ram raid because the bollards lined up on the car densely. Yeah. We love. So good.
Starting point is 00:00:39 So, because we messaged the other day, we were all having a bit of a mirror of a day. Things were falling apart, left and right and said it, and you were like, God, this on top of my absolute car nightmare. And then Vaughney asked, what was the car nightmare? I assumed another ram rate. No, thankfully not. Touch wood, this is maybe wood, this desk.
Starting point is 00:00:57 I think there's wood under the layer Go under Touch wood I turned my car on that morning And we drive in the dark As many people would figure out Considering we're on here quite early And only one light
Starting point is 00:01:13 Oh one headlight How'd you know? How'd you know? Get the song, Vaughn get the song from Bob Dylan's son I want that one light You want it It's one light That's Lord
Starting point is 00:01:23 Wait what's on? No this is one headlight From the wallflowers An absolute classic. You old people have a song for everything. Jacob Dylan. Was that his name? I mean, he looks almost exactly like.
Starting point is 00:01:34 He looks exactly like his dad. And do you think his dad was like, you pop sell out? Yeah. Do you think he was a right? Yeah, I'm one of the greatest musicians in the fucking world, and you come out with this. I mean, I love the song. You need me making poetry, boy.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Oh, this song. Yeah, this song. This is one headline by the Wallflowers. Yeah, Bob Dylan's son, Jacob Dylan. Oh, I don't like the song. Do you know, I remember. I remember when I did have a car and I had one headlight and it had to get fixed and it was a rigmarole. You notice so many other cars with one headlight.
Starting point is 00:02:04 You don't see it anymore as much anymore. When I was a car, every car had one headlight. And you're like, motorcycle and they're like, whoops. Yeah. I'm a car. Whoops, clip them. No. Well, so I was like, okay, got to sort this out.
Starting point is 00:02:17 I do some Googling when I get to work and it says that you can just go to super cheap auto. Yeah, you could just get a ball. Well, reply to yourself. It's like 30 buck. I walk in and quite often. last time I went in for window wipers, I actually got my cleavage out. And I said, can you help me put it on? He was, like, pushing his, like, quite, like, lean chest together.
Starting point is 00:02:36 It was tiny animals. Do you know the funniest part? I genuinely was like, wow, this is the first time I need to, like, ask for a man's, a strange man's help. As an engaged woman, do I take my ring off? Oh, yeah, see. But anyways, I didn't need to. I walked in, the, like, the guy was lovely.
Starting point is 00:02:52 And he's like, can you just wait a couple of hours? Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. It's going to be in something better than in the middle. Oh, no. Me and Cinderella, we put it all together. You can drive it home. Here it is. Here it is.
Starting point is 00:03:14 One headlight, that's you. It's crazy you said, let's listen to the song, and then you're all millennial mumbled over the whole fucking one of that. I think I made it more enjoyable, Shannon, you're wrong. This is what the people want. But why is he romanticizing one headline? I don't get it. Just like, we don't need fucking anything, man, beat up car.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Like, it's just you and me, baby. That's what matters. Okay, well, I need more than one headlight. And so I went to Super Cheap Auto, and the guy was like, yep, he's just on his 10-minute break. Just have a little browse and we'll grab you. Perfect. Give him the keys. He goes to my car.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Comes back and I'm like, amazing. Wait a second. They do it anyway without, I got my tits out for nothing. And they just do it. Okay. Maybe my legs were out, you know? And then he came back and I'm like, thank you so much. And he's like, actually got bad news for you.
Starting point is 00:03:53 And I was like, no, you don't. Take that back. It turns out that my lovely Japanese import car, so brand new to me, me, first New Zealand owner, but not overseas, had decided to give it a little after-market little upgrade. Oh, a little tweak. We don't like those. The lights in there are
Starting point is 00:04:10 actually extremely expensive lights for some reason and completely rewired. So it has like this converter thing in it, an HD something converter, so Super Cheaporte I can't do that. They can't find the cables. So he has to go to an actual proper dude. And I went, any recommendations because I don't
Starting point is 00:04:26 have a car guy, you know what I mean? And he was like, oh, Toyota's just around the corner. I was like, you know what, that sounds like a safe bet. It's so elite having a car and taking it to the car place to get done. When you're going to Mazda and you take it to Mazda to get service, get a Toyota, take it to Toyota to get service. Until you're standing, then they go, where'd you buy the car? And I go, budget cars. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:47 My neighbour's daughter. From Japan. No, budget Cars.com.com. This lovely guy comes out of Toyota. He's like, let me have a look, turn on the car, blah, blah, blah. And he goes, yeah, I can't see the wires. So we're going to need to run a diagnostic before we can even. and tell you how much it's going to cost us.
Starting point is 00:05:02 Cool, cool. We love a diagnostic. How much is a diagnostic? You ask, oh, $274. This is getting shit, mate. So they're going to do that tomorrow. And then they're going to, I guess, call me and be like, it's going to cost you this much in Labor and the bulb.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Just for a fucking bulb. Just do it. How much was the bulb going to be? I don't know. I hadn't asked. What are you strapped like an LED light to it? A chargeable USB thing. Great idea.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Strap that on two lights. Honestly, at this point I'm just like, you know what, give it a service, clean the headlight, the plastic of it has gone quite yellow. And he went, those are quite yellow. How did it pass a wharf? And I went, I don't know, it did it a couple weeks ago. Yeah. So I'm just going to be like, you know what? Can you just fully fix everything wrong in the car?
Starting point is 00:05:45 And I'll just huck it on a credit card and hope for the best. That's the way to live. It's living, baby. And I tell you what, it's going to look bloody, bright and crystal clear care careening towards a dairy at four. Yeah. Oh, bloody, yeah. You got to see what's in the shop before you know. what you want.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Oh, poor Carolyn. And we'll start a fundraiser, give a little or something like that. Thank you. I believe this is Bob Dylan's son. It's about perseverance through lost disillusionment and the death of ideas, rather than a literal story about a broken car. Okay, so nothing to do with Calvin's car.
