From the Zedium podcast network, it's Fletchhorn and Haley's Little Bit of Pod.
Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod.
And producer Shannon, you had a lot of time on the farm over the summer break.
Back to the farm down south.
You know it.
I'm a cowgirl now, basically.
You always head down to Clinton.
Clinton to hang out with your bestie who has a farm down there.
Yeah, so it's halfway between Gore and Belclutha, population of 200.
And if people don't know where they are, kind of just near...
Just like sort of bottom...
Not kind of the bottom of the ass of the country.
Yeah.
Yeah, you know, I go for the company, not the location, you know.
Yes, yeah.
But I was down there and there was a bit of drama, as there always is on the farm.
They got some new piglets while I was there, and they were tiny, tiny newborn.
There was a boy piglet who was...
I'll send a photo in the chat now for scale.
You're friends that...
What kind of farm is it?
Is it a...
Like a...
Bobby farm?
Well, so currently there...
There is no livestock on this farm, just pets.
Okay.
But is it a big farm?
Or is it a lifestyle block?
I don't think they're farming right.
What income are these pets generated?
No, so basically my best friend moved there to become, like, to have a farm.
But her husband-ish is working on a different farm.
Husband-ish?
That's an interesting title.
You brushed over there.
I just feel like she brushed over husband-ish.
She brushed over husband-ish.
Are we married or we not?
No, not married.
I just meant she's a farmer's wife, but they're not married.
Okay, yeah.
But basically he's working on a different farm to learn how to be a farmer,
then their farm will become a farm.
How big is their farm that they're living on?
Huge.
But currently there's just...
But it's got nothing on it.
Well, another person's like leasing it.
Oh, okay, right.
So it's productive land.
Okay, this was a question I wanted to ask you off where I've just never got around to it.
Because this sounds like the start of a hilarious reality show where people from the big
smoke are learning to farm.
Yes, yes, yes, that's their life.
This picture of the pig you've sent through is very cute.
Very cute little piggy.
a Cooney Cooney. Yes, it's a baby Cooney
and he is tiny as you can tell
by the way I'm holding him. So they got him
this day and Liz and I, my best
friend, we were at the farm and
the adults on the farm were like, hey look, this pig is very little,
we're worried he's going to escape from
this little pen. You need to go
check on him every 20 minutes.
Right, or just make the pen better fencing
just a nice. It feels like
how's it so easily
escaping? Well, that's what you
would think, because within an hour,
We go to check on him and he's gone.
Oh no.
There's no surprise there given the concern about the fence.
What's this fence made of?
Like just a couple of strings.
Pigs are little escape artists.
Yeah, little slats of wood, but he was so much smaller than the other two pigs that were there.
Because he was only a skinny pig.
I wish I could fit through two tiny slats.
I'm a big pig.
I'm just a regular pig.
But guys, this is stressful.
A pig is on the run.
We've got to go find this pig.
Pig on the run.
And another cacophony of chaos.
Good alliteration from you.
Thank you.
The working dogs had also been let off the leashes.
So now we have two dogs who probably want to eat a little piggy
and a little piggy on the run.
I would say so far your friends aren't very good at farming.
No, this is why he's gone to the other farm.
Yeah, yeah.
So then there was four of us there,
and we were like we have to split up and each take a paddock to try find
this little piglet. Who's the fourth person? We've got
the husband-ish, we've got your best friend, we've got you.
And then we've got this guy Wyatt, who's a huge
fan of this podcast. He listens every day.
Oh, hello, Wyatt. I'm Wyatt. What's Wyatt doing there? Just hanging out.
Yeah, he was just hanging out with us. And so then
I decide to go with Wyatt as we split up like Scooby-Doo because I was
like, well, he's from down here. In a horror film,
you never split up. That's the mistake.
Yeah, that's a mistake. Yeah, I mean, it wasn't a horror film.
It was just a farm looking for a pig.
Yeah. So I go off with Wyatt, and we're kind of walking and I was like,
once we find the piglet, what do we do?
Like if we see it, how do we...
Commendere it.
Commendere it.
Well, that's the thing.
I was like, I don't really know.
I'll probably jump on it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Body, it's tiny flesh.
We kind of just keep walking and we get about a kilometer away from the farm.
We're multiple paddocks over and Wyatt is like, I see it, I see it, I see it.
And I was like, oh my goodness, and now what?
He's got a farmer's eye, Wyatt.
He's got a farmer's eye.
He does.
Yeah.
And so then there was like a deer fence, like one of the high fences.
you can't just like hop over
but he just like flew over it
and suddenly I was alone on the other side of the fence
and I was like I'm useless
Why it sounds like an action star
Yeah man
He starts sprinting and I was like
Oh I'm stuck on the other side of the fence
And like he's gone
So I was like I'll try help
So I kind of like waddle over a fence
And I was like he he he you know like
You can imagine you can imagine how useless I am in this situation
I didn't want to say it
Anyway I kind of go with him
We chase it
Wyatt starts tackling this pig
like jumping in history
and like going for it and then
he like skit and the pig was like
whee-wee-wee-wee you know they're loud
They were wee-wee-weed all the way home famously
Oh like he wee-wee-wee-weed
And so anyway
Wyatt tackles him and then
We kind of have to pick him up and he's all muddy
And like wee-wee-wee-wee and then we had to carry him back
A kilometre back to the farm
And then we put him in the tray of a yute
To be like you stay here
We're just really involved.
We eye it, you know.
Yeah, well, we put him in a tray of a Ute and then he escaped again.
But long story's thought the pig is okay and alive and all's happy and well.
Well, that's great.
And I chased a pig.
Chase the pig.
I think we need to send a reality film crew down with Shannon next time.
Because I would watch his show.
Shannon takes the farm.
Oh, you know it.
