Starting point is 00:00:20 This podcast is coming out on a Sunday New Zealand time. And I would like to talk now Take this time You've really stipulated both yesterday's podcast and today's When they were coming out New Zealand time Well they were just There's a reason There's a reason obviously
Starting point is 00:00:34 Yeah because there is a new This better be a good reason You may have heard of this Similar to quiet quitting There's a new trend with Gen Z's and Millennials In the office And it's a controversial new approach to mondays uh changing what mondays look like forever it's called bare minimum mondays which is kind of how we approach this job every day isn't it bare minimum every day yeah just do
Starting point is 00:00:58 what you can to get by minimum 2023 so it's a new trend emerging in the wake of the great resignation quiet quitting and other workplace movements. It promises to relieve stress, reduce employee burnout and still deliver quality work. So the idea is that, yeah, you just do bare minimum. I wouldn't dare. On Monday? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:18 I wouldn't do that to our listeners, you know. It's my job and my honour to entertain the people and I've got to bring my all every day. You give 110% every single day. Yeah. Whereas the minute I've got a contract signed, it's absolutely just neutral and coast down the hill. Get that contract signed.
Starting point is 00:01:36 That would best describe your entire career, wouldn't it? Yeah. Let's cross now. We've got a Gen Z. We captured one. We've got Millennials and Gen Zs here. We've got Shannon in pyjamas. Yeah, what we did is we set a trap of misgendering somebody,
Starting point is 00:01:49 and then they all just came running. And then we dropped the box on them. And we got this one. Shannon. Good morning. Good morning. Well, somebody could be listening to this in the afternoon, so maybe just a good day.
Starting point is 00:02:00 But it is Sunday, New Zealand time at time of release. Yeah, but it could be afternoon or evening. Just say maybe good day in the future. G'day. G'day. What are you, from fucking Australia? Get it right. Good day.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Good day. Now, do you participate? This is classic Gen Z behaviour. I know. She's absolutely showing one of her chosen. It's really bratty, isn't it? It's so bratty. It's so entitled.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Now, and look, there's a, she's rolling her eyes. Carl Wayne's rolling her eyes. Oh my God. Are you a millennial or a Gen Z? I think I'm technically like a zillennial. A zillennial, yeah, you're a bit of both. You're the worst of both. You've got all the worst parts of it.
Starting point is 00:02:33 Do you two participate in this Monday trend? Yes, I'm a hard Gen Z and I'm a bit of a wet blanket around here. If someone asks me to do something, I am such a pushover. You just do it. I always do it. So I feel like maybe I need to adopt this a bit of a wet blanket around here. If someone asks me to do something, I am such a pushover. You just do it. I always do it. So I feel like maybe I need to adopt this a bit more. So you don't do bare minimum Monday. You're just always great work ethic.
Starting point is 00:02:54 I don't know if it's great work ethic. It's more just a pushover. Yeah, right. Like you just can't say no. Yeah. But I'm new here, so I feel like I have to. Speaking of which, I'm utterly starving. Like a snack wouldn't go amiss.
Starting point is 00:03:05 Do we want to get Shannon to get us some scones or something? She will, because she's a post-review. Yeah, can you get us like three rounds of scone? Can you make them toasted, not microwaved, and make sure there's plenty of butter? Yeah, stunning. Easy, see, just like that. That's so easy.
Starting point is 00:03:15 How, Wayne, be a minimum Monday? Look, Monday is famously my day where I have the biggest nap. Oh, right. Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. What are we talking? How long on a Monday? Gosh, it can get to two hours. I'll be honest.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Yes. That's good stuff. God, that's delicious, eh? Yeah, it's good stuff. I mean, utterly screws up your entire day. Oh, 100%. And potentially the rest of your week. My body had the sheer audacity to wake up after 25 minutes on one of my naps this week.
Starting point is 00:03:42 The sheer audacity. I said, you're a naughty boy. I said. You're a naughty boy, I said. You're a naughty boy. I know. You punch yourself so you black down and we're back to sleep. That's what I did. I choked myself out.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Because 20 to 25 minutes, right, they say that's the optimum napping time. Because you're re-energizing without dropping too far into your bloody sleep cycle. But it doesn't feel enough when you work these hours. It feels horrible.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Producer Jared, do you bear minimum? I love also Jared's wearing his cute gloves today because he's cold. He's a bit chilly. He's a small boy. Yeah, I'm a thin wee fellow and my hands get cold. Yeah. Now, you're one of us.
Starting point is 00:04:14 You're a millennial. Yeah. You've got a brilliant work ethic. You wouldn't do bear minimum Mondays? No, I don't have time for bear minimum Mondays. Truly, what's the hardest? If you flash back to Monday this week, or last week, everything stopped working.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Oh, yeah, yeah. It was a very stressful morning. We had 30 minutes where we weren't on air. The technical difficulties, yeah. No bare minimum work there. Yeah, no, there's nothing bare minimum about him. He's bare maximum. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Thanks, guys. Maximum Mondays. Full on Thursdays. Thick Thursdays. Thick Thursdays, full on Fridays. Maybe just pull finger tomorrow, guys. Maximum Mondays. Full on Thursdays. Well, there you go. Thick Thursdays, full on Fridays. Maybe just pull finger tomorrow, people. Pull finger. What did you just pull out of here?
Starting point is 00:04:52 Yeah, I just had a beard here. Oh, okay. Go a bit sideways. It was annoying. It was tickling my lip, so I pulled it out. Ow. Doesn't that hurt? No, not really.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Just the pain reminds me I'm alive. Yeah. It's a millennial thing. Yeah. Oh, I just realised I did the whole show with my headphones on backwards, so. Well, that means the show's backwards then, isn't it? We're going to have to play this in reverse. Well, should we speak in reverse and hopefully they'll work out the other way?
