Hello, welcome to the Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley podcast.
It's thanks to McCafe.
Drive through and get a cup of barista-made coffee on the go.
Are you mid-yawning? You okay?
I was just having a little yawn in the stretch.
We're keeping you up.
No, no, no, no, not at all.
It's a pleasure to be here.
You are keeping me up.
Yeah, look at you.
You've got two piss holes in the snow, as they call them.
I'm faded.
He's a tired boy.
He's had a big week.
He's a wee little chump.
Big week.
I've come to the realisation that I don't deserve my new house.
Well, you dented the bench last week.
I dented the bench.
Rimu.
Dented.
Can't be fixed.
It's a soft wood.
Question. Answer. What did they make. And then... It's a soft wood. Question.
Hmm?
Answer.
What did they make walkers out of?
Canoes?
Oh, yeah.
Probably a kauri would have been a slightly stronger than rimu.
A heavy hard wood.
Yeah, rimu is like butter soft.
Yeah.
And such a poor choice as a bench top.
Yeah.
Though it looks stunning.
Yeah.
No, no, no, no, no.
No, no.
I love it.
But I nearly just burnt down the whole kitchen the other day.
Place of heads.
Yeah.
So some friends came over,
because we keep inviting people over,
and they turn up.
Other friends.
You're still going on about the fact
you invited Vaughn and I on a Sunday evening.
That's the worst time to invite people to a house.
Nobody wants to go out on Sunday evening.
Not every time we hang out has to be a bloody piss up.
You know, we could just hang out for the joy of each other's company.
Yeah.
Well, I just had people turn up unexpected.
Otherwise, we would have popped around.
Yeah, okay.
And Fletch?
I was stranded in the floodwaters in the city.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
Stranded, utterly stranded.
Yeah.
Anyway, so some friends came over to have a little nosy at the kitchen,
and I was showing them around, showing them all the bits
and the soft-close drawers and yaddy-doodle-dandy.
And then one of them was like,
God, it really, really smells like gas in here.
And we've got a gas hob.
And I was leaning on the gas the whole time.
So the kitchen had filled with gas at this point.
So did you burn it off, light a match to burn it off?
I don't think that's what you do.
Is it not?
I don't think that's how gas works.
That's farts.
Isn't that what the oil rigs do?
Burn it off.
They've always got a flame of, they have a burner.
No, in the event where for five minutes
you've been leaning
on the gas hob
and it's been releasing gas,
the last thing you want
is a spark in there.
So I don't deserve this house
because I nearly burnt it down.
I've dented it.
And so how long
was it on for?
Well, we were just
leaning and chatting
because we've got no furniture.
So there's nowhere to sit.
So we lean.
We lean on the benches
and I was leaning
on the gas hob
the whole time.
The good thing about, I don't have gas at my place
But I would love
Like a big wok
Because gas
I want a wok
Woks with gas
Like are the best
You don't see the flames shoot up
I want a proper Chinese wok though
Because you can go to like
What's the you know like
What's the Briscoe's brand
Oh I don't know
Hampton and Mason or something
Yeah
And they do w walks and they're
shy they're too thick why are they what would the british know about walks i need a carbon
steel walk with like a wood handle so with a wood handle and i want it to like set ablaze
and get really really hot so you chuck your veggies in a couple of tosses and they're done
because i all anytime i use my parkia wok, it just stews the veg.
Ah.
Yeah.
Do you know what I mean?
It's not getting hot enough.
It steams it and it bubbles.
Yeah.
No, no, no.
I need a proper Asian wok.
Get it.
Do you reckon Asian grocers would have it?
Yes.
They do, yeah.
I mean, I don't know how good they are, but give them a nod.
What about some steam baskets?
Yeah, I've got steam bamboo skins.
And they lasted a lot longer than I thought they would.
Yeah.
No, I need a carbon steel wok.
Big one.
Big wok.
Big wok energy.
Yeah.
I could start a little Chinese takeaway.
My village doesn't have one.
Yeah.
Doesn't it?
No.
Or a fish and chip.
I know.
Wild.
I know.
I've got to drive all the way to near where Vaughan lives.
You could call it wok and balls. W? I know. I've got to drive all the way to near where Vaughan lives. You could call it Wok and Balls.
Wok and Balls.
Where does the balls come from?
It just sounds like cock and balls.
Do they have a Chinese restaurant in Balls called Wok and Balls?
They should do.
Wok and Balls.
Wok and Balls.
Yeah, that's funny.
That one's for free, isn't it?
You could do rolls.
It could be Wok and Rolls.
I love Wok and Rolls. It could be walk and rolls. I love walk and rolls.
They make delicious walk fried rolls.
Yeah, okay.
There's your radio jingle.
Tick.
Walk and rolls.
Walk and rolls.
Yeah.
The Hungry Bull and Bulls apparently is the Chinese takeaway.
The Hungry Bull restaurant and fast food, they've missed a trick.
They have.
They've really missed a trick.
That's on them.
I'm not picking out after everybody.
Yeah.
I'm done.
It's fair.
Well, if you enjoyed that, give us a rating and review and be sure to tell your mates.
You know what?
I reckon your script reading is getting better.
I think it is too.
I give it five stars.
Thank you.
Just like I'd give this podcast.
I'm telling my friends about your script reading too,
much like I'm going to do about this podcast.
Thank you, Vaughan and Hayley, for that.
Good boy.
