Welcome to 2819 Church.
How we doing family?
That's about 25% of the room.
How we doing family?
How we doing family?
I want to welcome y'all here. I am the associate pastor, Kenneth McFarlane. And yeah, we're about to have some fun. Y'all ready?
First and foremost, I want to make sure that we thank everyone that if it's your first time you came here, if it's your third time you came here, your 5,000th time, we don't take it lightly that y'all are coming here to hear words from us.
We just believe that we're moved by the Holy Spirit and we're moved by God to continuously do this time and time again.
And this all started with the shepherd over this house.
So if we could, let's give Pastor Phillip and Miss Lena.
Some of y'all are beneficiaries of his prayer, his time, his sacrifice, and y'all don't even know it.
So we really do thank you, Pastor Phillip.
A true man of God, someone who follows Jesus for real.
Thank you, Izzy.
I don't know if Abby's here, Malachi and Josiah, because y'all, they in the back?
Okay, thank y'all.
I know it's not easy sharing him, especially when you want your time.
As kids to a father, we can all sort of know what that is to want our father.
And you have graced us to share him and we thank y'all for that.
All right, let's get to it, right?
Thank you, gentlemen.
The baddest day in the land, right?
Y'all ready?
You sure?
Once I start, I'm not stopping.
Y'all sure? All right.
We're going to be coming from Matthew chapter nine.
Starting in verse 27. Just letting y'all know where we are starting, right? This is crazy because
when we started 2819, when we changed the name, we started with the series called The King is Here.
Y'all remember that?
Y'all remember The King is Here?
This is where Matthew introduced our Savior with the genealogy.
He's proving that Jesus is God through his lineage.
And lining up everything so that we can see that there is no denying him by his lineage.
Then we journeyed through a series called Kingdom Gems.
Y'all remember that?
Where we went through, do y'all know what we went through?
The Beatitudes.
The Sermon on the Mount.
Jesus' teachings.
And this is another section of series where Matthew is proving Jesus' deity.
Through his teachings.
Showing that he's not just an ordinary man.
That he's not common.
That Jesus was all man.
But he was also all God.
And then this series.
God of miracles.
This series has been a blessing.
Well it's been a blessing to me, it's been a blessing to me.
Has it been a blessing to you?
Some of you ain't clapping because you feel like you ain't getting nothing.
But through the God of miracles,
we've heard about so many things happening through the scriptures and in the building.
We've seen miracles one after another here.
And I'm just going to run through some of these things because I want to know if you remember them and weeks one through four pastor Brandon Freeman taught us about the first
message I wish you would how the leper did something forbidden and Jesus did
something unthinkable by reaching out and touching someone who was a leper, that a miracle happened through faith. In the second week, we learned
that Pastor Brandon taught, what about your friends? That your friends matter in this
world, right? That who you have beside you will prove some things about you.
That he went over about a centurion who not only broke the rules and the law, but he did everything that he could for someone that was close to him.
Right?
He had faith.
Faith enough that he didn't even want Jesus to come where he was. He just said
speak and I know it will be done. Then Pastor Brandon went over a message said called prepare
to be sick of me. Huh? I need Jesus. Where Jesus is in Peter's house.
And he heals Peter's mother, mother-in-law.
By touching her hand.
Y'all remember that?
And then he finished off with anywhere but backwards. Where Jesus is trying to heal our thinking, teaching us
that in following him, we can follow him, but we cannot go backwards. Right? I came
after Pastor Brandon and I taught, it's your turn.
That there are some things or some miracles that are needed, but also you're going to have to weather some storms, right?
But in those storms, you'll see the impossible happening.
Communicator Courtney came and she taught it's time to come up. Where we
can easily miss out on the true blessings of Jesus because we would rather have worldly
gifts and finances instead of true gifts from God. And we learned that through the demon possessed man at the tombs.
Elder Eric came after that and taught qualified to declare.
Where friends labored bringing their friends to Jesus at any cost.
Climbing up the side of a house.
Tearing the roof open and lifting their friend down.
And Jesus said that because of your faith,
I came again and I taught the goat of miracles.
That even though we want all of these physical things, the greatest miracle of all times is the gift of salvation.
To make sure that our thoughts are not shifted towards the world and things, but more towards God.
Then we had baptism. where over 200 souls were baptized
declaring that they had made a decision in their heart
and that they were going to show it publicly
with a watery grave.
Then Pastor Philip came back.
Y'all might not be hyped.
We was hyped.
We was like, thank you, God.
Oh, thank you, Jesus.
He's like, thank you, God. Oh, thank you, Jesus. He's back.
But he came and he taught us what the core of us are.
What we are as 2819, right?
That we have our core devotion in Acts 2.
We have our core mission, which is Matthew 28, 19.
And then we have our core rejection,
which is anything that is opposite of the Lord.
Right?
Y'all not clapping enough for that rejection part.
That rejection part will that rejection part will save you so much hurt
if you really took that into account in life
because some of us
some of us actually
you know what
it's proof because
there are times when we actually do things
and we're the reason why we get in trouble.
Right.
Self-inflicted injuries.
Right.
But then he taught us that we need to be renewed by new wine.
Right.
That Jesus is not just trying to patch up our unholy lives with a holy
patch instead he's trying to give us all a whole new wine skin a whole new body
right and not live the way that we used to live not do the things that we used to do and then he taught called he
taught a message called touch and restore which is where we left off where lot of us needed to be touched by God and restored by the Holy Spirit. Learning that
Jesus, Jesus responded to situations and circumstances because of other people's faith and last week we had a surge of faith that arose and people came to the altar
because they understood what they needed
if if you have not listened to any of these messages i i recommend it's just a recommendation
i'm not gonna say i'm not gonna to say, I'm not going to say you
have to do it. I recommend that you go listen to them. Amen. Especially for any of you who are new,
you're coming and you're just like, man, this, this, this rowdy bunch of individuals is they loud I don't
get it right
well through these teachings you'll understand
why because God is so good
we become
undignified for him
so much so that some of us
who really have it in the core of us, we've been more undignified.
So go back and listen to those messages.
And this will be the last installment or the last message of the God of miracles.
Y'all ready?
You sure?
The title of this message
is verified
through miracles.
Because we live in a blue check society.
Even where blue checks have fell off, people still want blue checks and pay for it.
Everybody wants to be verified.
Today I'm going to show you that Jesus was verified.
Alright, so we're going to start off in Matthew chapter 9 verse 27 and it reads as thus and
As Jesus passed on from there. Where's there? Well, he just healed a little girl at Jarius's house
Y'all remember that?
So he passed on from Jarius's house, and from there two blind men followed him, crying aloud,
Have mercy on us, son of David.
Now pause.
We read this, and we pass by it.
Because son of David is a term that they would use in the Old Testament days because the Savior had not come yet to them.
So they classified anyone that came and they had this personification of a Savior.
And they would call that person the son of David.
Because the Lord before gave a promise to David.
And in Psalms, in Psalms 132, the Lord swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back.
That means God is not going to go against this word.
And that word was one of the sons of your body.
I will sit on your throne.
Not sit, sit.
That means he would be there forever.
Forever. be there forever. So when we hear someone calling someone son of David, back in biblical times,
right? There were prophets and then there were kings. We weren't supposed to have kings. Y'all know that, right?
That's our ignorance.
We stepped into it ourselves.
But there were prophets
and there were kings.
The people of God
would lean on prophets for healing
and they would run to kings
to help save them
from the slavery or bondage
that they were stuck in.
There were prophets and there were kings.
They will lean on the prophets for healing and then they will lean on the kings to save them from the issues,
situations, and circumstances
that they most likely got themselves into.
God, they don't get it.
There were prophets and there were kings.
Prophets were for healing.
And guidance.
Kings were to save them from bondage.
These two blind men
Were blind men
So they looked at Jesus and called him son of David
Because he had to either be a prophet
Who could heal them of their blindness
Or he had to be the king Heal them of their blindness.
Or he had to be the king.
Who could save them.
Because they were under Roman rule.
Hallelujah.
You are all in all Lord Jesus.
Yes Lord. Yes Lord.
Yes Lord. What they did was even in their blindness, they saw Jesus for who he really was.
They saw God, even though they couldn't see God.
They knew he is a healer,
even though they didn't see one miracle.
They knew he was going to be their savior,
even though they didn't see him fight
or go against any Roman soldier.
They saw him the right way.
And we've been running after this.
Week after week, we've been going through this. Week after week, we've been running after this. Week after week we've been going through this.
Week after week we've been showing you this.
How do you see him?
We've been asking, is he still just the carpenter's son to you?
Jesus! Jesus! her son to you? Is he just the one who gave you enough to pay your rent? Is he your genie?
Is he the one that fixed the issue or a situation that you got yourself into, but you still don't follow?
Because it's one thing to call him God. It's another thing to call him Lord.
Who is he? Who is he who is he
now
this this is this is so for the for the super biblical people right this is dope to me because
at any point in time if a pharisee or sadducee wanted to come and refute anything about Jesus, this would have
been the first thing that they would have really came with, right? Why? Because if you were, quote
unquote, the son of David, that means you had to come through his lineage. That means you had to
be born through that lineage. And nowhere in the scripture were we ever told a Pharisee or Sadducee
came against him in that way. Why? Because it's proven that he comes through that lineage.
So when we learned about the genealogy
in the beginning,
that should have proved to us
there's one thing that we can,
because some of us,
and I'm not ignorant to the fact,
some of us still don't look at Jesus
for who he really is.
Some of us still have doubts.
And Matthew was proving one check after another. You don't believe that he's God?
Well, let's check this. Did he come through the lineage? Check.
Yes. Then he comes again. And we see this throughout the scripture where jesus is giving something and
he gives more context to scripture than anyone else has ever heard even so much so when someone
tries to question him about scripture or try and trip him up he teaches them something about the scripture they never knew because, because
he is the word of God, because he is the word of God.
He can teach us more about the word of God than anyone.
And this, this is the reason why, like, I love theological schools and teachings and
everything else.
People want to sit under people and all this other stuff.
But, and I'm just going to speak for myself.
God never gave me the opportunity to go to a theological school.
I would ask.
I would ask.
Oh, I just want to learn something.
I want to know something.
I want to know something.
I want to know something.
And God was like, no.
And I'd be like, fam, everybody else going.
But I would get mad. I would get mad. I'm telling you personally, I would get mad. And the more I would sit under the Holy Spirit and he would teach complain. And I would want to go.
And he would show me something.
And he would teach me something.
And I would complain.
And he would show me something.
And teach me something.
And then I started realizing, some of these dudes, they be going. They, Lord, they don't really know you.
So they spitting out fancy words.
And they're talking about the hermeneutics.
But it ain't even scriptural.
So even in that, Matthew was saying, oh, well, the teaching of the word?
Check.
Check.
And then we come to this, right?
That these two blind men are following Jesus.
Two blind men are following Jesus.
Two blind men are following Jesus.
I want you all to...
Who has their Bible?
Who has a physical Bible?
Or they actually have their phone or anything like that?
I want you to read verse 27 and tell me where you see where Jesus said something back to them.
I'll wait.
Yep, online.
Keep looking.
Uh-huh.
Do y'all see red words anywhere?
Yes, you do?
What red words do you see where Jesus talked back to them?
Oh, this is good, right? This is good right this is good right because it says in 28 once they got to the house
jesus responded to them
once they got to that means that they were following jesus blind
crying out
son of David
and not knowing
where they're going
son of David
son of David
and this is the reason why I have
sympathy for individuals who follow Jesus for real.
Because this is sometimes how it looks.
God.
Jesus, I need you.
I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know what I'm doing.
I don't know where I'm going.
But I'm going to do my best to follow you.
Even when I can't see you.
Even when I can't see you.
They follow Jesus.
Even in the midst of Crowds
Because they were on major roads
That means other people are passing by
And going through
And even in the midst of all of that
All they had was the presence
Of Jesus
To go off of
To follow him
Where he was going
that you need to trust him even when you cannot trace
this is what we've been taught right
that some of us are following blind and that seems like, man, like,
okay, that's cool. That's cool, Pastor Kenny. But if you really read the scripture in verse 28,
it says, when he entered the house, the blind man came to him. Before we even finish that, right?
Stop that real fast, right? When they went to the house. So there's a piece of information
inside of this scripture. There's a piece of information inside of this scripture that threw me for a loop, right?
Because Jesus left Jarius' house, right?
Now, when Jesus got to Jarius, when Jarius and Jesus first met, Jesus had just stepped off of a boat.
That means that he was on a shoreline. Some scholars
say that he lived in Capernaum. This is for the deep theological people, right? Some people
said that he might have lived in Magdala. But either way it goes, he lived off of a shoreline.
Well,
in Mark,
Mark teaches us that
Jesus went back to his hometown,
which was Nazareth.
And from Capernaum,
or even Magdala,
to Nazareth, was about 40 miles.
So it might not seem like a big deal to you, but these two blind men were walking for 40 miles, following Jesus, even though they couldn't see him Tripping over things
And all they had was
His presence
His presence
Cause some of us feel like
Man like we've been doing this for too long
They could have easily gave up.
Did you give up too early?
Did you quit and throw in the towel? it's two of them walking blind two of them walking it's it's bad enough have you ever
seen somebody with with a like a thing over their face and they're giving clear
we we do this with our sister sometimes we'll'll blindfold her on her birthday. She don't know where she going, right?
And we'll be like, here comes a step and she still trip.
Don't judge my sister.
Don't do that.
Even with clear cut instructions on where to go and what you're doing, you still manage to trip up on some things and fall over.
And they got nothing.
And some of you in your lives right now,
you're mad because you feel like God isn't answering you to a certain degree.
But he still wants you to follow him. The question is, do you
trust him enough to do it? Do you? Don't say yes to me. That's an internal thing. Do you
trust God enough to follow him? Even when you can't see him, you don't hear anything,
and you don't know.
See, that's the difference between
someone who is
desperate.
They are desperate for the Lord.
So much so they'll do whatever
they can to get to him.
And what does that desperation get him?
In verse 28, when he entered the house, the blind man came to him.
They followed him all the way there.
And Jesus said to them, do you believe that I am able to do this?
Well, he knows everything. So it's not a question of he didn't know the answer to this
it was something to show them and to show us
that sometimes a desperate faith
can change situations.
And they said, yes, Lord.
Then he touched their eyes saying,
according to your faith,
be it done to you.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Because I'm not going to let us get off easy right here because the truth of the matter is
according to your faith
some of us have seen miracles
because according to your faith
some of us have experienced things
because according to your faith
some of us have stopped early
because our faith wasn't really strong.
According to your faith, according to your faith, according to your faith, according to your faith.
And I'm not saying that your faith will force God's hand to your faith. And I'm not saying that. Your faith will force God's hand.
To do something.
But what I am saying.
Is that desperate faith.
Always gets God's attention.
You don't believe me.
The woman with the issue of blood.
Now, this five-day-old woman,
what you don't understand is
Jesus had a crowd around him.
A crowd around him. A crowd around him.
And this lady was crawling to get to the hem of his garment.
We've all heard of the Black Friday stories where somebody gets trampled over a TV.
This lady is willing to get trampled for healing according to your faith.
Darius, Darius isn't even supposed to be dealing with Jesus
to the point where he already said, my daughter is dead, But I know What you can do
What does Jesus do?
Because his faith
Allowed him to go against tradition
I'm not going to do it like that anymore
Because my daughter needs
I'm not going to do it this way anymore
Because my father, your faith, according to
your faith, the friends who are willing to take their friend up a house, tear the roof lower down.
And Jesus noticed who?
the friend's faith the centurion soldier
Jesus said I haven't even seen someone with as much faith as you
you're looking for whatever it is
but what does your faith say? you're looking for whatever it is.
But what does your faith say?
What does your faith say?
Does your faith catch Jesus' attention?
The lady with the two pints.
So much so, everybody's giving all this money. I'm rumbling.
This is all throughout the scripture
All throughout the scripture
This lady caught his attention
Because she threw everything that she had
Into the offering
According to her faith
According to his faith
According to your faith
And some of this might not be sickened But the truth of the matter is According to his faith. According to your faith.
And some of this might not be sickened.
But the truth of the matter is.
He wants you to catch his attention.
Even with the.
Seed of a mustard seed.
He said these things can happen.
Where a mountain. can be picked up
and thrown
according to your faith.
Jesus responds to faith.
We cannot control the outcome,
but we can surely get this attention and
in verse 30 and their eyes were open and Jesus sternly warned them saying no no
one knows about see that no one knows about.
But they went away and spread his fame throughout all the district.
They don't listen.
We just talked about that, right?
You get your hill and still do what you want to do.
Ain't that like us?
That don't like us? that just like us
now don't go tell nobody
I gave you that little ten dollars
I ain't gonna tell nobody
where you get that money? Where you get that money?
We don't be listening.
And even though God knew that they were going to do that,
even though Jesus knew that, he still healed them. That even in our dysfunction,
our mess, our disobedience,
our dishonor,
he still loves us enough to heal us,
help us,
save us,
deliver us.
Thank you, Lord.
Hallelujah.
According to your faith and as they were going away
behold the demon possessed man who was mute
was brought to him and when the
demon had been cast out the mute man
spoke and the crowds marveled
saying never was anything like this seen
in Israel and this could seem like it's a crazy part because it's like, man, but Jesus been healing people this whole time.
And we then went through some scriptures that said that, you know, like he didn't cast out some demons before.
So how is this new?
Well, back in those days, back in those days, they had never saw anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone who was mute healed.
The impossible.
God made possible.
So not only did he cast the demons out, he healed a mutant.
And the only times that they actually ever saw someone being healed from muteness
was because God was the one who shut their mouth.
So we read in Ezekiel where God shuts the mouth.
And then he's the one who heals it.
We read about Daniel where God shuts him out.
And then God, we even read in the New Testament
where Jesus' uncle,
we're going to lean on that, right?
John the Baptist's dad?
Okay, some of us ain't ready.
All right, listen.
So when Jesus was in the womb,
and John the Baptist was in the womb And John the Baptist was in the womb
John the Baptist's dad
Was going to name the
He was all over the place
He wasn't listening either
But God shut his mouth
So that he wouldn't talk
And when John the Baptist was born
They were trying to figure out
Well what are we going to name this baby
And then God opened his mouth
So he can say we're going to name him John
So the only time
They saw something like this
Where a mute man was able to speak again
Was if God himself intervened
So even the thing that they considered impossible Jesus did the only person they ever saw open a mouth was God.
And here it is,
Jesus himself opens a mouth.
Miracles.
Check.
Verify
that he is God. Jesus is the ruler. He is the king of kings. He is the Lord of lords.
So here it is. Matthew is redesigning our thought patterns and our processes to make us look at things the way
that they need to be aligned. We don't align Jesus the way we need to, and he's trying to make us
check this list off. Can we prove through his genealogy? Say it louder. Can we prove through his teachings Now can we prove through
Miracles
Jesus is verified
Blue check got it
Didn't have to pay the $2.99.
How do you see him though?
How do you see him?
How do you see Jesus?
Well if we read verse 34.
The Pharisees said said he cast out demons
by the prince of demons
that even they
they saw something
that only God can do
and they still saw him
the wrong way
I pray that our
our eyes are open
so that we see him
in the right way
can you see him in the right way.
Can you see him?
High and lifted up.
Can you see him?
As the one who heals you in your situation.
The one who fixes your situation.
Can you see him?
It's not a question to row you.
I'm not trying to get you to do anything except see him.
God wants you to see him.
And if we don't open our eyes,
as a matter of fact, Father,
I pray, Lord, that we even ask you, God,
let the scales fall off of our eyes so that we can see you rightly, Lord.
That some of us are still dealing with situations, God.
All to call after all to call, God.
We ask, Lord, for people to come down, Lord,
and their faith is still wavering, Father.
Help us with our faith, God.
So that we can see you, Father,
the way that we're supposed to, God.
You are the Alpha and Omega.
Before we were even born, Father, you were here.
After we die, God, you are still here.
When this earth crumbles, Father, you will remain.
So of course you have enough power to fix a system, God. I lean on you for myself, Lord, because I know I need your healing, God. And I will forever come to you,
God, until you heal me, Father. Like the blind man, God.
May we follow you, Lord.
May we follow you, God, regardless of how long it takes.
May our faith never waver, Lord.
Regardless of how long it takes, God.
May our favor, Lord, keep us and sustain us, Father, the favor you gave so that our faith never wavers, God.
Because we need you.
May we have a desperate faith, Father, after you.
I pray this in your holy name,
in Jesus' name.
Amen.
