So to all of our digital disciples, we welcome you, watching live right now in cities all around the country.
To all of our guests who are in this room, parents who showed up for baby dedication,
and to even the unbelievers who are in the room, we know that you're in here.
We know that you're watching, we acknowledge you, we're happy that you're here.
You could be long before you believe.
Just keep coming. We trust that God will do something in your life. We are in a series called Wisdom and Wonder, which we are walking through Matthew
chapter 12 to Matthew chapter 20. We don't want to pretend that you know who Matthew was.
He was an outcast Jew who lived in the first century AD, worked for the federal government of Rome.
He was converted to Christianity by the Lord Jesus Christ himself.
He became one of the first followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and one of his chief apostles that first 12.
Matthew would go on to write the gospel or the narrative of Christ that bears his name.
It is placed first in the New Testament of the Holy Scriptures.
The purpose of his gospel was to prove to Jews that Jesus was the son of God.
And we are walking through Matthew together and we'll be here for maybe two years.
We're not in no rush.
If you're new to our church, we line by line, verse by verse, by verse we read we exhort we lift up the name of
jesus if that's boring for you then we see you some other time but we we want to how i want to
say this we are fed up with entertainment here okay me personally and i want my burdens to get
into i wanted to seep into the congregation that I lead. I'm fed up with entertainment, especially in the black context.
We're fed up with entertainment in the church.
I'm fed up with feeling like we have to perform and do backflips off of the stage to make people pay attention.
The scripture says in Revelation, blessed are those who read and blessed are those who hear and do.
And I want you to not be in awe of men
and stop worshiping men
and stop propping them up like they're idols.
I want you really,
this is from the,
I almost said I swear
and then Jesus said don't do that.
See, I almost sinned right in front of you.
In my heart,
I really want you to be in awe of Christ all of us are going to end up in a
I want you to be in awe of these scriptures I want you to read the scriptures and be in awe of them
I want you to read the scriptures and be in awe of Christ and his teachings and his ways in the
scriptures this morning God I was I was praying in my prayer room for him and think about how familiar we are with the Bible how familiar we are ago we so
familiar God is coming to us so we don't even get stimulated when we read his
words man I could just read the scriptures and burst into tears that
times or just push away and be in awe. Some of you, you've been around that your whole life, so it's just boring to you.
But I pray you would have an awe of God.
An awe of the Lord Jesus Christ.
An awe of these sacred texts.
Amen, somebody.
And lastly, because this has been bothering me.
I'm sick of seeing the foolishness we like and post on social media. So I'm going to keep encouraging. I know you don't like this. Watch. I'm going to keep encouraging you yourself read the New Testament letters and come
up for air and see does it sound like American preacher read for yourself and
whole ministers accountable amen anybody I know move on Philip no no take your
time move on Philip. Move on. Take my time. Teach you.
Yeah. For all my note takers, we'll be in Matthew chapter 12. Today we'll walk through verses 38 through 45.
The scriptures.
So powerful and so profound.
For all my note takers, we will tag a title to this text let's call this
text give me a sign
spirit of the Living God
how I ake in my spirit God since time is running out on your children that we're living in these last and dark and evil days father God I pray in my weakness, you would help me to communicate the truth of this eternal scriptures to these, your sons and daughters, even to the unbeliever who's listening to me right now.
Father God, I pray you give your people spiritual stamina.
I pray that you would awaken them from their stupor.
I pray as the word is proclaimed and exegeted,
I pray you would tear down strongholds in our minds.
You would tear down faulty thought patterns in our minds.
I pray you would walk this room, every aisle, every row,
and arrest the attention of your sons and daughters.
I pray you would breathe, God, on the proclamation of your word.
I pray you would stir up in the hearts of your people as we walk through these sacred texts a hunger for knowledge,
a hunger for the revelation of the scriptures, that we would love this holy word and be submitted to this holy word
and yield to this holy word and be transformed by this holy word.
We don't want dead sermons. yield to this holy word and be transformed by this holy word.
We don't want dead sermons.
Let your word come alive in this room.
Come alive across this camera.
I come against tiredness and weariness and those who didn't sleep last night. Let not the devil lull people to sleep during the proclamation of the word of God.
And I pray, Father, we will leave here impacted, inspired, convicted, and changed. We ask right now in the mighty and the majestic
and the matchless name
you should look up those words
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
If you agree with me
just say amen.
Amen.
God.
Family my brothers and sisters
on Friday of this week
my wife and I
and three
sisters from our church
we hopped on a plane early
Friday morning while it was still dark
and we flew down to
Orlando, Florida.
Five of us to be a ministry of presence to a sister that we all love deeply and care about
whose mother had tragically passed suddenly and who was grappling with the immense pain of losing both her parents unannounced in the space of three months.
She didn't even have time to grieve the passing of her father sometime in December before she got the news of the passing of her mother.
And sometimes even if you don't have mother and and sometimes even if you don't
have words to say even if you don't know how to counsel sometimes when people are suffering you
just need to step into that space that we need to learn to bear the burdens of one another and
sometimes you don't need to have all these words sometimes you don't need to counsel people
in their burden I hate when we go to funerals and we just tell everybody on that day, oh, everything is going to be okay. Yes, it will, but sometimes it's not the time for that.
The scripture says there is a time to mourn. There's a time to grieve and to cry. And so we
flew out there to surprise her and just to be in her presence and just to be a ministry of support for her. I remember when we got to the cemetery, how my wife and I and these three sisters from
my church, we kind of stood there. And I remember as we watched the coffin of her mother's body
go down into the ground, into its temporary resting place. I say temporary because no body will stay in the ground forever.
We must rise to stand before the Lord God.
So we watch the body go down into its temporary resting place.
She was a believer, so we can say rest in peace temporarily.
And then we throw around that RIP for people who are not saved.
There is no rest in peace.
You can lie at the funeral if you want.
False comfort.
And I remember when we watched that box go down into the grave.
Man, I was thinking about that this morning as I was praying for that sister, for her comfort and her family.
I was thinking about all of the theological arguments and the fault lines we have in this life around what happens in life after death.
That there is no agreement among us between the agnostic and the atheist.
Between those who are in false religions and false practices between what I call false Christians, Christian atheists,
and true born-again believers that right now as I'm talking to in this life, there's all these
arguments happening about what happens to us after death, what happens after that funeral,
what happens to people when they take their last breath. And it's all of these arguments
and theological fault lines. There's no agreement about that on this side.
And I thought to myself that after death,
everybody who has died,
there was perfect unity and theological harmony.
Because for everybody who takes their last breath,
they wake up on the other side and realize
that there was only one true God.
Jesus.
Who only had one true son and that there was only one true judgment that everybody has to stand and that everybody will be in agreement we'll be
in perfect unity after death all of us will be in theological harmony after death because all of us will bow one knee saved and unsaved
Muslim and Christian Jehovah's Witness and Mormons will all be in agreement
after death because we all will realize there is one Lord and one God and one
judgment and we all about one knee one savior, whether we knew him or not.
And I just thought about how in the afterlife,
there will be perfect theological harmony
because now all of the discussions
about who was right will be over.
All of our arguments about was the Christians right
and was the Mormons right and what's the Jehovah's Witness.
All those arguments will be over or we're all going to be unified after death.
No more theological debates after you die.
People argue about the existence of God until they draw their last breath and wake up and realize,
oh snap, he was real, but it was too late.
And of all the people who's going to end up damned in the afterlife, I think the most tragic of all the groups is not the atheists who will end up damned.
It's not the agnists who will end up damned. It's not the agnostic
who will end up damned.
It's not the ones
even in false religion.
I think the worst group
who's going to end up damned
are those who thought
they were believers.
Those, watch this,
who had the most revelation.
The people that was
this close to God
and never repented for real.
They was on the doorstep of the kingdom and never repented for real.
They was this close.
They can feel the breath of God on their forehead and on the back of their neck.
And they never repented for real.
I think the worst group that's going to be damned are those who are so close.
They were this close to the kingdom
and never made it in.
They're going to hear.
They're going to hear. I got it.
I'll figure it out you did all of this stuff in my
name and they're gonna hit depart from me you worker of evil I never knew you
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I know them of y'all in the room you know you you
know this group the group that got so close but never got in you know that group well right you've
been around church your whole life but never really repented and put your faith in christ
you you know this group right you you've been around the things of god your whole life but
you never really repented and put your faith in God
or Christ
we know this group right
you love the traditions of your forefathers and men more than
but you never really put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for real
we know this group
people who was in churches
and gatherings
and services
and they went to conferences,
and you had little Christian posts,
but you were never really filled with the Spirit.
We know this group,
people who play hokey pokey with God.
One foot in the world and one foot in the kingdom.
One season you're with God
and one season you're not with God.
We know these people that play hokey pokey with God.
Or they say stuff like,
I tried Jesus, but he didn't work for me.
No, I'm being serious this morning.
I said, I tried Jesus, and he didn't work for me.
I used to be a Christian, and they walked away.
We know this group well, right?
That will be the saddest group in the damnation those who was this close to genuine repentance and fell short I
mean you was on the doorstep you had your hand on the knob man you you you
heard the gospel so many times in these gatherings. You heard about the cross so many times
in these gatherings and you heard in your heart and said, man, I'll get right next week.
And then I heard him say stuff like, man, I'll believe God if. Look at me. I rebuke the devil
in the name of Jesus. I rebuke. I'll put my faith in Christ if.
I'll put my faith in Christ when.
I'll believe God when.
And it's almost like I've heard people say this.
I've tried to share the gospel with people one-on-one,
and they'll say things like, well, you know,
when I get sad enough, I'll turn around to God,
or maybe I need to be suicidal like you.
I just, you know, I don't know about Jesus.
I don't know about God.
I don't know about that Bible.
There's a lot of mistakes in it, quote unquote.
I need God to show himself to me before I believe.
I need him to do something first before I leave.
I need God to perform for me to have faith.
Watch.
I need a sign.
You know people like that.
I know people like that. I know people like that.
These are people we should be praying for.
Some of them are in your family.
Some of them are some of your closest friends.
Some of them are your parents.
Some of them are your siblings.
People who almost in their unbelief,
and they're like trying to test God.
Do a backflip from heaven first.
And then I'll believe that Jesus was your
son. Heal my mother first, then I'll believe Jesus was your son. Change the circumstance first,
then I'll believe Jesus was your son. It's almost like God, do a trick for me first.
Huh? God, do a, let me, do a trick for me first and then I believe Lord I need I need a sign
y'all are in the room you're watching me right now you listen to me right now I know who you are
you you you dance around the things of god and in your
lack of true repentance you really want god to prove to you that he really exists
this is the tragedy of i think the worst group that's going to end up separated from god
this is the frustration of jesus in this text that we're about to look at
this morning. Now, you remember what's happening in Matthew chapter 12? The whole chapter is one
complete narrative. You remember Jesus was in a grain field fighting with some Pharisees,
and I taught you what a Pharisee was. You remember he went up into a synagogue and healed a man with
a withered hand while he was still fighting with some Pharisees. The scripture says he departed from that area,
which means he went to another city or another region, and then he bumps up again to another
group of Pharisees. You remember Elder was teaching us how they said, man, your power came from the
devil and that you cast out demons by the spirit of Satan.
You remember how Jesus called them brood of vipers and how Kenny talked to us about fruit and trees and how we would know people by their fruit, not by their Instagram following.
That you got famous people who are headed to hell, who preach every Sunday,
wolves in sheep's clothing,
so we need to be looking for fruit,
and it's in that same narrative, that same account,
Matthew gives us this next incident that happened in the same situation. I want you to look very closely at these verses,
Matthew chapter 12 and verse 38.
Remember Jesus was just talking to a different group of Pharisees,
which means opposition against him is spreading around Jerusalem and Judea and the common areas.
And then in verse 38 Matthew records this he says then some of the scribes and the pharisees
answered him they answered him about what about everything I just told you when he was talking
to them about kingdoms being divided about the power of the holy spirit about fruit from the tree
then the same scribes and Pharisees,
another group of them that he's arguing with,
answered him saying,
teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.
Stop.
I want to unpack this for you.
I want everybody to look at me carefully.
They said, teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.
So here is Jesus dealing with these Pharisees, right? They said, we wish to see
a sign from you when they call him teacher. Nevermind the fact that just a couple of verses
before that we got taught by elder Eric, that man, he had rolled up on someone who was demon possessed.
Watch who was blind and you watch. Cause y'all treat Jesus the same way.
Never mind the fact that he delivered that person
from demonic oppression.
The person could finally see.
Watch.
The person could finally talk.
You see a person get set free from a demon.
You see a person get sight.
You see a mute person talk.
And then you turn to him and say,
give us another sign.
What you did right there, that's not good enough for me. What you did in that last season, that's not good enough for me.
I want proof. I'm not fully convinced yet. Give us another sign. And look how they said to him,
they call him teacher. Now they really don't mean that they are being watched
sarcastic they are being respectfully disrespectful that's why you got to have
discernment that everybody's not for you I'm talking to y'all sit up that some
people man they will smile in your face and say friendly platitudes and say they
call you sister or brother but but in their heart, they really
don't like you. I'm talking to y'all. You got people that'd be so close to you calling you
sister and brother. They even write on your Instagram, but they really don't like you.
They really hoping for your downfall. These Pharisees who hate the Lord, who are jealous of the Lord, who wants to kill the Lord, they call him teacher.
Watch. We want a sign from you, teacher. Watch this. We're not convinced. Never mind you've
been doing miracles all this time. Never mind you've been performing all these great things.
Never mind your fame, of all of your miracles, of all the things you have been doing around all these different cities
around all these crowds that have been found never mind we've been seeing and hearing all of that you
know what it's not good enough for us we want another sign you know what they're asking for
prove to us watch that you are the son of god you know what they're really attacking them for
they're not really asking for a sign they're asking him prove to us your identity watch now
everybody watch this language it's not unfamiliar to Jesus because the
Pharisees wasn't the first people to attack him about his identity we taught
you in Matthew chapter 4 when he was in the wilderness see this is satanic behavior
that when he was in the wilderness another person rolled up on him
called Satan that dragon of all it says if you are the son of God
turn these stones into bread if you are the son of God right jump off the platform if you are
the son of God and what was the off the platform if you are the son of God. And what was the devil doing?
Trying to provoke him about his identity. Watch this. Trying to make him perform tricks outside
of the father's will. Because you could do good things, but if it's not in the will of God,
that don't mean it is godly oh i should say that again you can do good things outside of god's will that don't mean it's godly and the devil was
trying to tempt him to perform miracles outside of god's will trying to test his identity you
should go back and read matthew 4 jesus said it is written and the devil says it is written
and the devil quoted it is written and
the devil quoted scriptures and Jesus quoted scriptures. That's why you need to have discernment
when you're listening to preaching. Jesus said it is written. Satan said it is written.
Jesus quoted scriptures. Satan quoted scriptures. So does it mean everybody quoting scriptures is of God?
No.
My God.
My God.
And that's why even when you're listening to preaching,
you need to have discernment.
For the Father says it is written,
and Satan can also say in the middle of a sermon,
it is written. Or you think somebody can quote a verse, they belong to the Lord.
The devil was quoting the Psalms to Jesus. And so he's not unfamiliar with this language. We
want to see a sign. What they're really trying to do is they're trying to provoke him around his identity. Prove to us that you are the son of God.
Prove to us that you are who people saying you are.
People are calling you the son of David.
They're calling you the son of man.
They're calling you the son of God.
They're calling you the promised Messiah.
Prove to us we want another sign.
And the truth is, if you understand the language of the Pharisees, they don't even want really another sign.
Because, watch, nothing Jesus did would have been good for them.
I'm about to go somewhere with this.
Because you got to know there's some people you can't help.
Come on.
Jesus.
Come on.
Come on.
Jesus.
Come on.
Let's do that.
Yeah.
Jesus.
Listen.
Some of y'all got a Jesus complex.
Trying to help people you can't help.
People who are determined to be anti-Christ.
I ain't wasting my time counseling you.
I'm just going to turn you over to Satan in prayer.
And let your flesh get rocked for a season.
So you realize you're not that strong like you think you are.
All God's got to do is let down the hedge of protection around you.
My God.
So these Pharisees, who are the principal enemies of our Lord,
are asking him for a sign.
Prove to us who you are.
And this is why you got to be careful in theological debates and careful when you're talking to people.
I will even go so far as to say, this is why you got to know who you are in Christ.
You got to be careful when your identity is wrapped up in everything else except your Savior.
Your identity is in your title.
Your identity is in your position.
Your identity is in your position your identity is in your instagram following
man if your identity is not in christ then your identity is on shaky foundation
well i don't care if you don't call me pastor prophet apostle's not going to shake my identity.
So they're asking Jesus for a sign.
Prove to us you are who you are.
Verse 39, but he answered them and he said this to them,
an evil and adulterous generation
seeks for a sign.
Stop in the middle of the verse.
Let's work part A.
He said, man, you want proof from me for faith?
Only an evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign.
Lord, I don't understand that.
Watch.
Watch.
Miracles are not to prove to you who God is to satisfy your unbelief.
The Lord performed miracles out of need for people who are in dire straits.
And what God is not going to do just so you can be satisfied to have faith
he said it is evil to try to force god to perform just for you to believe man i'll fully believe in
god when he he said that is evil i'll fully believe in god if he he says that, that is evil. He says, and the root of your issue
is not that you really want to sign is that you are adulterous. You are a whore with the world.
It is your love of fear with everything other than me that is blocking you from seeing who I am
without my miracles. You need bumps to have faith yeah and what the Lord is saying
I'm really battling with you you treat me like your mistress and I'm really
battling your love for me or your love for your business your love for me or
your love for your husband or your wife I'm your mistress and because I'm
your mistress because I'm not number one you try to make me perform for you to believe that I'm for
you for you to believe I'm the son of God I gotta dance through hoops and Cheerios to prove myself
to you he said no those who want signs those who want God to prove something to me, for me to believe in you. He says, only an evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign.
He's talking to the Pharisees.
He's talking to the Jewish nation.
I'm going somewhere with this.
He's talking to anybody else listening to me right now that says I will believe if I will believe when God
need to he need to show himself to me
like he owe you that
what if he doesn't perform
what if he doesn't move the way that you want him to
what if he doesn't open the door what if you him to? What if he doesn't open the door?
What if you never get married? What if you never get what you want? Can you believe in who he is
based on his character? Or does he have to perform to impress you? There's some of us, man,
there are a lot of you right now, I know how this go down. You mad at God for something he did not do that you've been praying for now I'm talking to you look at me there are people teenagers men and women right now I know
you're sitting in the room you are in your heart you are mad at God because he didn't answer some
prayer yeah he didn't heal my father of cancer who never got a chance to see my ministry he didn't answer some prayer. He didn't heal my father of cancer who never got a chance to see my ministry.
He didn't heal my wife's father of cancer who never got to see her in ministry.
Because he didn't open some door in the past or he didn't move the way you pray.
I already know y'all sit in a room.
You mad at God for something he did not do.
And so you get angry and you hold him in offense.
Watch.
Because he didn't give you the sign that you wanted for you to have faith in some moment or some season.
And now you're wondering, does God love me because I lost this job?
I lost these friends.
I was betrayed by these people.
This person I love died.
I prayed for this.
He didn't come through.
Watch.
I'm suffering with this thorn that he won't take from my side.
I'm talking to you.
Mad at God.
Disappointed at God.
Furious with God. You're wondering if he loves you because he didn't come through for you the way you thought he was supposed to.
Because he didn't give you the sign that you wanted.
Some of you even questioning his faithfulness to you.
Because he didn't come through for you.
He said, when you treat me like that,
I respond to that as evil and adulterous,
that if your fidelity was really for me,
you would never ask me for such.
You wouldn't see me like that.
So he says, only an evil and adulterous generation
looks for a sign.
Everybody watch this watches part b of
verse 39 but no sign will be given to it now everybody pay attention carefully now i'm almost
done no sign will be given to those seeking one except the sign of the prophet jonah
for just as jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish. For just as Jonah was three days and three nights
in the belly of the great fish.
This is so darn powerful.
I'm about to throw this Bible.
I can't even contain myself.
Just, God, I can't even contain,
oh my God.
Oh God.
He said, just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish so will the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth he said an evil
and adulterous generation seeks a sign but no sign no sign no sign will be given to those who
want me to prove myself to you.
Except the only sign you're going to get is the sign of the prophet Jonah.
So now we should be asking some questions of the text.
Who is Jonah?
What happened to him?
What does Jonah have to do with the Lord Jesus?
And how is Jonah a sign?
Man, let's answer those questions from the text
who is Jonah Jonah was a Jew who lived before the life of Jesus now watch I
want everybody to notice that Jesus quotes about Jonah. Watch. He's talking
about a man that some of y'all think his account in history was fictitious. This is so powerful.
How could a man survive in the belly of a great fish? And so you tell that to your children like
it's some fake bedtime story. I'm about to rock your theology.
Jesus talks about Jonah and he gets, watch, he talks about Jonah with the historicity that Jonah was a real person.
For all of you who are Bible thumpers and you love to have discussions that are...
You want to be an apologist?
Just stay with the Bible.
We don't believe in Adam and Eve, but Jesus talked about them.
We don't believe in Noah and a great flood, but Jesus talked about it.
We don't believe that a man survived in the belly of an animal for three days, but Jesus is talking about him.
So either Jesus is a liar or Jonah existed.
Either Jesus is a liar or we came from Adam and Eve.
Either Jesus is a liar or all of those dinosaurs died in a flood,
not an asteroid.
They're not billions of years old.
You can take the age of Adam and do the math into where we are right now
and you don't get an earth that's billions of years old.
You get human beings hanging around
for 10 to 15,000 years.
I'd be nervous when we hear stuff on the Nature Channel like,
oh, this happened billions of years ago.
How do you know?
The last time I checked, the only person around billions of years ago was God.
But you're so sure.
No.
Them dinosaurs died in a flood.
How did Grand Canyon end up like that?
Carved out by the flood.
Yes.
The Lord left his feet.
Left the fingerprints.
All in.
It's evidence.
All in the earth.
And so Jesus first watch he gives us the historicity of Jonah
who was he
Jonah was a prophet
everybody watch
Jonah was a prophet
Watch
And that the only time you hear about Jonah
Is him being in rebellion towards God
Right
Everybody watch this, I'm going somewhere with this
But my Bible tells me in 2 Kings 14
Where Jonah's name is first mentioned
That he was a faithful prophet.
I'm going somewhere with this.
You write it down.
You want to be students of the Bible?
The first mention of Jonah is not the book that bears his name.
The first mention of Jonah is in 2 Kings 14.
That he was a faithful prophet in the days of Israel,
prophesying the things of God.
Watch.
You got no problem preaching to your own people.
I'm going somewhere with this.
But then later on in his life, Jonah is confronted by God.
And God tells Jonah, I want you to go to a city called Nineveh,
which is the capital city of an ancient empire called Assyria.
The Assyrians were enemies of the people of God.
And they were ruthless and they were brutal and
they would raid the nation of Israel and take their crops and take their heart they were pagans
they were ungodly they were far away from God God rose up on watch this a faithful prophet in one
season watch this watch this watch this Because you're preaching to your own people
so you know how to be faithful
in a comfort zone.
You got to know the whole Bible.
In 2 Kings, you're preaching to
your own people so you know how to be faithful
in a comfort zone.
But now, Jonah, I want you to
go preach to your enemies. I want you to step out of your comfort zone. But now, Jonah, I want you to go preach to your enemies.
I want you to step out
of your comfort zone
and go preach to the enemy
of your own people.
Because I'm trying to show the world
that I love all people.
God.
That my grace
is not only for the Jews,
but even for non-Jews.
So Jonah, I want you now to step out of your comfort zone,
and I want you to go preach a gospel of repentance to your enemies.
I want you to go down to Nineveh, it's all in the Bible,
and I want you to preach a gospel of repentance to the Assyrian capital of Nineveh. Jonah, whether he's
racist or angry, God tells him, go to Nineveh. Jonah goes the opposite direction. Watch. I love
the scriptures. It says he goes down to the shore. He pays a fare and hops on a boat going the opposite direction of Nineveh
because anytime you're in sin it takes you down.
So Jonah went down in his sin towards the seashore.
He paid a fear while he was in sin.
Money wasted.
Money wasted.
And boards a ship trying to run from a sovereign God
in the opposite direction.
And I don't know why he did that.
Maybe he's racist,
but he don't want to preach to Nineveh.
So you faithful in seasons of comfort,
you can preach to your own people.
But now I want you to preach to your enemies.
I want you to do something for me, Jonah,
outside of your comfort zone.
So you can obey me when it's convenient.
But now you have trouble obeying me when it's inconvenient for you.
Faith with conditions is no faith at all.
Obedience with conditions is no obedience at all. Obedience with conditions is no obedience at all.
You obey or you don't obey.
In comfort and in discomfort.
Lord, you really want me to get on that team?
Yes.
You really want me to join a squad?
Yes.
You really want to be faithful in my giving?
Yes.
You really want me to be honorable?
Yes.
You really want me to forgive somebody that my giving? Yes. You really want me to be honorable? Yes. You really want me
to forgive somebody that hurt me? Yes. You really want me to talk about Jesus on my platform?
My platform, God. The monument I'm building to myself, you really want me to mention Jesus on
there? Somebody might get offended if I talk about Jesus on there. Yes. He jumps on a ship. Everybody pay attention. You can read it for yourself when
you get home. Jumps on a ship, pays a fare for his sin, which is wasting money because
you'll waste things in sin. And he sails in the opposite direction from Nineveh. Now watch this.
Then the scripture says,
God caused a storm to come upon the ocean and that the people on the ship were so superstitious,
they thought the only person new on the ship
is this dude right here.
So they start throwing things overboard,
hoping to stop the storm
And the storm don't stop
And then they look at this dude again
You're the only person different on this ship
Watch
Ninja
You gotta
We ain't all about to die with you my ninja
You gotta get off this ship
If you ever been on a cruise You've been in the middle of the ocean We ain't all about to die with you, my ninja. You got to get off this ship.
If you ever been on a cruise, you've been in the middle of the ocean.
You don't want to go down in the black of the ocean.
My ninja, you can't stay on this ship.
Yo, y'all get that ninja right there.
Throw his tail overboard.
It's the Philip Anthony Mitchell translation. They grab Jonah,
they throw him overboard.
Now everybody watch.
And then the scripture says,
I'm almost done.
Watch these words.
God, watch this word,
prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah.
Now, this is powerful to me.
Everybody look at me carefully.
I'm about to help some of y'all.
He's running in rebellion.
Watch.
And God won't let him he's trying to run from God and God won't let him I love
this about God that he won't even let Jonah's mistake.
God, I just want to throw this Bible at you.
He won't even let Jonah's mistake ruin what he called him to do.
Has anybody ever made a mistake?
Or been in a season of rebellion
and God still won't take his hand off of you?
Woo!
Rebellion!
Anybody know what it is to be in rebellion? Or for?
Or make a mistake?
Even be ashamed of something you've done?
And God in his mercy Refused to take his hand off of you
What?
Somebody give Jesus praise
For a staying hand
Thank you for and stay in here. Woo!
Thank you.
Now,
if you've ever made a mistake and God didn't take his hand off for you,
somebody give an appreciation praise
right here. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah. Hallelujah. I got a story to tell
that I can't tell right now.
One day in the future, I'll tell it.
My whole life,
my ministry,
my family,
everything I'm doing right now is a second chance.
I can't tell y'all the story right now, but my entire life.
I'm sorry.
My entire life, my ministry, my family, everything I have is a second chance from God.
Y'all don't know how bad I blew it when I first came into the kingdom.
You can't get me to not be faithful.
I don't need a third and a fourth chance.
You ain't going to dangle no carrot in front of me. You're not going to get me to abort my mission this pendant on my neck kisses
Jesus on one side and the names of my family on the other side my whole life
is a second chance and I'm in my time I thought when God was done with me.
I was too hardened
and hard-headed.
I'm a knucklehead from Queens.
And just not sane in my mind.
And I remember there was a season
early in my walk
when I thought God
was completely done with me.
And I end up in Bible college,
and they asked me to preach at a chapel,
and the Spirit of God falls in that chapel.
And God said, who told you?
I was done with you.
I ain't never look back.
I need to finish this message,
but I just need to stop right here.
We a church of proclamation and presence, right?
If I'm not the only one with this story,
just stop for a second
and get a flashback of when you thought God
was done with you when you botched it you messed up that you fall you fell you
blew it God
and his response to you
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
and his response to you was mercy I'm sorry
I gotta finish
Lord help me to finish I gotta finish
I gotta finish
okay I got to finish. I got to finish. Okay.
Okay.
So God prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah.
He saved Jonah from an ocean where he would have drowned and died.
I don't know what the fish is.
I believe it was a whale.
I said to you last week, God speaks well.
Science has shown there are people who have been swallowed by whales and have survived.
It's not uncommon.
This has happened.
God, I'm sorry.
I gotta finish.
The whale carries Jonah
to the city of Nineveh.
It's like, you're trying to run from me.
But God knows how to engineer circumstances to put you back on the path of obedience
I just love how
and this is not for everybody
how some people your calling is so important
if this is for you just take it
that God won't even let you mess it up
some of you don't even understand and you probably know who I'm talking to
your calling in the earth is so significant that the Lord won't even let you mess it up
that this assignment that God gave Jonah was so important because it would mean something for this moment right here.
That God even refused to let Jonah mess up his own thing.
So he speaks to an animal, captures Jonah in the ocean and keeps him safe in the ocean for three days and three nights,
tells the animal, go to Nineveh,
go the opposite direction of his rebellion,
and then speaks to that animal.
Now vomit him up on the shore.
Because God speaks animal.
Some of the circumstances you've been through in your life,
like storms, hell, some of the hell some of y'all been through,
you shed tears over it.
Don't even realize God was using that storm to put you on the path that you're supposed to be on.
There's some things that has happened in your life you don't even realize.
God was using it.
Although it hurts you, he was using it to put you on a better path, on the correct path, on the path of obedience.
My God. God. a path on the correct path on the path of obedience throws up Jonah on the shore everybody
watch I'm almost done Jonah walks the city of Nineveh preaching repent and the scripture tells
us I want this kind of anointing. An entire city turns to God.
You have no idea what one man's faithfulness would do.
He preaches to a city and the entire city turns to God.
Watch.
Is Jonah's preaching the sign?
No.
Is the people repenting the sign?
No.
What is the sign of Jonah that somebody was
preserved in a place of death for three days and three nights and came out alive
why was that so important because it is a foreshadow of another man who would be dead on a Friday
Saturday and Sunday morning and return back to life and for all of the anal
people about three days and three nights the Jews used this as an idiom that one part of a day represented a whole day.
So just as Jonah was swallowed up for three days and seen alive,
the sign of Jonah will be the sign of Christ's death upon the cross,
his subsequent burial,
and his divine resurrection.
And being seen alive.
Is the sign of Jonah.
And so now Jesus said.
This generation will get no sign.
Watch this.
Except the sign of Jonah.
That the only evidence you're going to get.
About my identity identity will be my
resurrection. For Muhammad is not alive and Confucius is not alive and none of these other
sages and religious people are alive. Christ as we it, is the only progenitor of a faith
that was killed and crucified
and was seen alive
by hundreds of people in the first century.
Josephus wrote about this,
the Jewish historian.
They saw a resurrected Jesus
from a grave.
Now let's finish the text.
The sign of Jonah is the resurrection of Christ.
And then verse 41.
The men of Nineveh will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it.
For they repented at the preaching of Jonah and behold something greater than Jonah is here.
Verse 42, the queen of the
south will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it. For she came from
the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon and behold, something greater than Solomon
is here. Everybody watch. Everybody pay attention. So Jesus said to these Pharisees watch I'm almost done he said he said the men of Nineveh who
repented everybody watch this when the judgment comes so you see Jesus authenticates a coming
judgment nobody's gonna escape that he said when the judgment comes the people who repented in
Nineveh they're gonna condemn generation. Who is he talking to?
Pharisees? Who is he talking to? Jews? Who is he talking to? Everybody watch. Pay attention.
He's talking to a nation of people who had the promises of God, the laws of God, the Torah of God. They saw the miracles of God. They was delivered from slavery. They came through the
Red Sea. They got manna from heaven. He's talking to people who was this close to God. They was delivered from slavery. They came through the Red Sea. They got manna from heaven.
He's talking to people who was this close to God. They had the promises of the coming Messiah. They
were on the doorstep of the kingdom, and they still cannot believe that Jesus was the promised
son of God. And yet these Gentiles, these non-Jewish people, these men and women who never crossed through an ocean,
who don't have stories from the past, who was not covenant people, who had no promises made to them,
how was it they believed faster than you who was on the doorstep of the kingdom?
So the men of Nineveh, Gentiles, they're going to condemn you Jews at the judgment the queen of the
south was not just a show that was dope the queen of the south it was a dope show the queen of the
south is a tagline for the queen of Sheba read about in first kings 10 a woman who came from
the bottom of Saudi Arabia who traveled over a thousand miles for months by caravan on camels to come hear the wisdom of Solomon.
He said, this woman traveled for months, a thousand miles plus, to hear the wisdom of a Jew, a Gentile.
She had more faith than y'all.
The men of Nineveh had more faith than y'all.
And so when the judgment comes, y y'all gonna be worse off than them
and then watch how he finishes this verse these verses last three verses and i'm done
now if you love deliverance ministry here's your text
for all y'all who love deliverance ministry here's your text and you've taught this wrong
because you've taught this separated from what i just taught you it's all connected
jesus finishes his statement by saying to them when the unclean spirit has gone out of a man because you've taught this separated from what I just taught you. It's all connected.
Jesus finishes his statement by saying to them, when the unclean spirit has gone out of a man or person,
it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none.
Then it, the spirit says, I will return to my house from which I came.
And when it comes, it finds the house empty. Swept.
And put in order.
Y'all better pay attention because this is heat right here.
Then it goes out and brings with it seven other spirits.
More evil than itself.
This is powerful.
Everybody pay attention.
I'm closing with this.
These verses.
And they enter and dwell there.
And the last state of that person is worse than the first.
So also it will be with this evil generation.
Now, let me close with this.
Everybody pay attention, because this is important.
You love deliverance ministry.
Here's your verse.
Now, I want to show you two things from these verses I first want you to see that Jesus authenticates
a spiritual realm that we cannot see
but we can see the manifestations in our lives
and our society of that spiritual realm
Jesus tells us that there are spirits in the world, demons.
The scripture teaches us that demons are fallen angels.
Everybody watch.
I'm going to, listen to me.
And that if you read the Bible carefully,
you see these fallen angels have personalities.
This is so powerful.
Like everybody in this room has a personality. Demons have
personalities. They're not all the same. How do we know? Read the scriptures. Some demons made
people blind. Can I teach? Some demons made people mute. Some demons made people deaf.
Some demons were so powerful they threw people down on the floor. Some demons like to
preach and try to prophesy, so they like to talk. Why am I telling you this? Because some of the
stuff you think when people are psychotic, they're not. Some of the things you call psychotic
or crazy behavior, or some people might be dealing with suicidal thoughts. Some of the things you call psychotic or crazy behavior or some people might be dealing with suicidal thoughts.
Some of the things you label as they just need medicine.
No, some of the things we see in society are the manifestation of different personality types of different demonic possession.
Some demons like to turn people into holes in horse like I was
because demons have different personality types and when they get on you and in you
they'll drive you to do things and and some of the things we think it's just somebody they're
just crazy no they are full- full blown possessed by a demon.
Some demons stir up trouble in churches.
Some demons try to build ministries inside of churches.
They come and try to curse the pastor from the back of the room.
But my roots are stronger than yours.
We ain't afraid of you. Ain't afraid of you ain't afraid of you yeah and I want you to
notice what Jesus is teaching us it's important that demons like to hang out
inside of people he says watch a person could get free from a demon.
The demon will leave that person.
Watch.
It will hang out in a dry place.
And then it comes back to check on a person that left.
But demons like community just like we do.
He stayed alive. So when they come back to check on the person they left watch jesus said they could find that
person the house the house a person clean sweat watch this and in order watch it's gonna make
sense in a second and then bring seven more demons with it into that same person.
Now it was eight of them in that person.
And now the second state of that person
is worse than the first.
Now pay attention.
Two ways to take these texts.
First, the spiritual way I'm telling you right now
that Jesus is teaching us about demonic activity.
Watch.
And what he's really trying to teach us
is that being moral is not enough.
Watch.
It's so powerful.
Because a person could get delivered from demonic activity.
God.
But if that house is empty, that is, the person never got saved.
Never got filled with the spirit.
There is nothing else occupying that house.
This is why you can be reformed
or changed through morality
and still be in danger
of a worse circumstance later on
because it's not enough to have good behavior.
So Jesus is teaching us a person can be
delivered from a demon and not saved.
And then try to have good behavior.
House swept
and in order. That's what that means.
Moral reform, but not
saved. Why? Because the house
is empty. So when that demon
comes back to check on you, all he
finds is good behavior, but he does not find the Holy Spirit. This is why deliverance ministry
without the gospel is dangerous. Why? For all of you who love deliverance ministry, why are you
trying to get people set free from demons
but you don't know how to share the gospel about Jesus
this is why deliverance ministry without the gospel is dangerous you love talking about
setting people free from demons but you don't know how to share the gospel so you're trying
to get unsafe people free from demons, but you don't
lead them to Christ. So when
them same demons come back and check on
them,
all they find is somebody who's moral.
Dang.
And this is why, oh, they went
through deliverance ministry last year
and now they are more crazy
than they was before
oh you trying to cast out demons
from somebody but you don't know how to give
them the gospel
so while we got
whole deliverance ministries that don't
exalt Christ
and don't preach ministries that don't exalt Christ.
And don't preach the gospel.
And don't believe in soul winning.
I don't want no parts of deliverance ministry that does not have Christ at the center of it.
That is dangerous for human beings.
You don't believe it's right here in the text.
Demons leave. Watch.
Demons love the
inhabitation of bodies and animals remember Jesus cast the demons out of
one man a legion and they said sent us into the pigs and so they went into the
pigs and threw the pigs off of the cliff because they love being in animals and
they love being a people demons like hanging out inside of bodies.
You got demons at your job.
Demons on your campus. Demons in your
classroom. We got demons
preaching on Sunday morning.
Jesus!
Help us. Jesus Jesus help us that's one way to see the text the spiritual
teaching Jesus but the other way is
the last way and I'm done with this
y'all see this last
verse
where he says,
so also will it be with this evil generation?
The bottom of verse 45.
You can't read past that.
That line connects this teaching
about demonic activity
with the nation he's talking to.
So pastor, I don't get it.
I'm done, Frank.
I don't understand.
Not only is Jesus giving us a parable
about demonic activity
because demonic activity is real.
He's also showing us what it is
to come close enough to God,
be in church,
read Christian books,
do all this Christian stuff,
but never really get born again.
And all the nation had was reform.
That is, you had all these promises, all these miracles, all these things that God did.
You had the preaching of John the Baptist.
You had a reformation of repentance.
So your house was swept, Israel.
Watch.
And now here comes the thing that's supposed to fill the house, which was Christ.
But y'all reject him.
So now Israel remains an empty house.
And what follows your rejection of Christ is a worse condition for your nation than when you had revivals to
John the Baptist and what the Lord is crying out here is
his heart is broken over those who
he lived
he died on a cross
he was buried
he was raised from the dead
and the only sign you really need
as evidence that he loves you
and that he's for you
and he's called you into a life of purpose and meaning.
It's not some miracle.
It's the work he did on the cross and his subsequent resurrection.
It's the power of his resurrection is the sign that you need.
That he is the son of God.
He is who he said he is. He is worthy of your worship and your praise
and your allegiance and your surrender. He doesn't have to heal my physical body as a sign.
He does not have to send me a husband as a sign. He does not have to solve all my problems as a sign the sign
that Jesus is who he is is that he is alive that he is seated at the right
hand of the Father that he is the Son of God he's God Almighty it is his death
his burial and his resurrection is the only sign we need to put our faith fully in him. And if that
sign is not good enough, you will get no other. That's why I love when Luke wrote in Acts chapter
17, verse 30 through 31, Luke wrote in Acts chapter 17, he said, verse 30 and 31, Luke said, he said, the times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by man
whom he has appointed and of this he has given assurance to all that is your sign. You want a sign that God is faithful? He raised
Christ from the dead. You want a sign that God is powerful? He raised Christ from the
dead. You want a sign that God is miraculously? He raised Christ from the dead. You want a
sign that God loves you? He raised Christ from the dead. You want a sign that God loves you? He raised Christ from the dead.
You want a sign that God is for you? He raised Christ from the dead. You want a sign that God
is trustworthy? He raised Christ from the dead. You want a sign that you can put your faith in him?
He raised Christ from the dead. You want a sign that you should repent today
and put your faith in him before this judgment comes to crush you? He raised Christ from the dead.
That I want to say to all of my brothers and sisters, all of you American Christians,
that we need to stop trying to turn God into a genie to have faith. My faith in God is not because of some thing he did for me.
Some house he gave me.
Some ministry he grew from me.
My ultimate faith in God is in the sign of the prophet Jonah.
That every time I see a cross.
And I know the work of Christ on that cross,
and I know the burial and resurrection of Christ
subsequent to that cross,
my heart explodes with gratitude.
My heart explodes with thanksgiving.
I am assured that I am loved.
I am assured that I cannot be plucked from
his hands I am assured that my name is written in the last book of life I'm
assured that one day I will be with him and that because of his death his burial
his resurrection I am assured that inside me is the Spirit of God and the
power of God to live out the calling of God under the
anointing of God to be faithful to God not because of some trinket or some toys
give you a sign the only sign you need is the sign of Jonah to be faithful the
only sign you need is the sign of Jonah to fully surrender the only sign you
need today to stop playing hokey pokey,
to stay up dancing in the kingdom and the world.
The only sign you need, man,
to throw your heart in this for real
is the resurrected Christ.
The only sign the church needs
to stop playing around,
to take the commission serious
and the scripture serious
and the gospel serious
and the fact that you have fixed time.
Serious.
It's the resurrected Savior.
That's the sign that you need.
That if there's anything we can stand of, God, strip me of ministry.
Strip me of house.
Strip me of car.
If he takes my wife and my children, the only sign I need that he is still faithful and worthy of all of my heart my prayers my surrender the sign of Jonah that I
refuse to be worse off no they know demon coming back to check on this house
morality it's not enough we need to be filled with the Spirit of God,
saved and fully repented. So I'm talking to you, my American brothers and sisters.
Stop trying to force God to perform, to prove his love to you. He proved his love.
He proved his worthiness. He proved his faithfulness, his character. He proved his love. He proved his worthiness. He proved his faithfulness, his character.
He proved that he can be trusted.
He proved that this Bible can be trusted by raising his son from the dead.
And if the resurrection of Jesus is not enough for you, then nothing will be enough.
I got faith because of the resurrection.
I believe because of the resurrection. I pray over barren wombs because of the resurrection. I believe because of the resurrection.
I pray over barren wombs
because of the resurrection. I believe
for signs, wonders, and miracles
because of the resurrection.
You're not going to pluck me away from him
because of the resurrection. You're not going to
stop me from being faithful because of the
resurrection. I'm prepared to die
for my Savior
because of the resurrection and if you
need anything more than that it is evil and it is adulterous
so father I pray these right now over my brothers and sisters All of us who subconsciously
and consciously
are always
trying to force you to prove
yourself to us.
Trying to twist
your arms to prove your love.
That we have attached your love
to trinkets and toys
and tangible things.
But Father, I pray now over my brothers
and my sisters, everyone under the sound of my voice, that you would deliver them
from trying to prove or trying to force you to prove your faithfulness, your character, your genuineness, your love by tangible
things. I pray, God, I pray. I don't know how. It's America, but God, I'm asking you
that you would break through to these hardened hearts, that you would give us a revelation now
of what you accomplished for us on the cross. You will give us a revelation that we serve a resurrected
Savior and because you live we shall live and because you live we have life
after death and because you live we have hope. We grieve with hope, we mourn with
hope, we fight with hope, we stand in hope because you live I pray to our confidence will be in
your resurrected status and not in anything tangible we could touch Lord, I pray that you would embolden the witness of my brothers and sisters.
That we would walk into rooms boldly.
We would preach boldly.
We would stand for you boldly.
We would back down the decay in our society boldly.
We would represent you on social media boldly. We would stand against evil boldly. We will represent you on social media boldly.
We will stand against evil boldly
because you have been resurrected from the dead.
We would even be prepared to die for you, Lord,
and even stand against social persecution boldly
because you have been resurrected from the dead.
We put our faith in the sign of Jonah and not in tangible trinkets or toys.
I pray today there'll be an explosion of gratitude
and thanksgiving and worship and homage unto you
because you have been raised from the
dead. And then that resurrection would inform our Christianity, our walk and our faith.
And now there's somebody listening to me right now. Don't move. I'm talking to you, my brother.
I'm talking to you, my sister. You already know who you are. I've been talking to you my brother I'm talking to you my sister you already know who you are I've been talking
to you this whole time you've been around the things of God but you're not saved you've been
around church but you're not safe you keep playing hokey-pokey with God one foot in the world one
foot in the kingdom I'm talking to you you know it right now I'm talking to you here is the gospel you are sinner and so am I you
have broken God's laws and so have I and the scripture says Jesus says if
anybody dies in their sin yo you're gonna be separated from God for all
eternity you're gonna be damned but God and his love, not wanting you to perish, sent his son, the Lord
Jesus, into the earth. He said, if any man would turn from sin, put their faith in Christ,
you can be saved. It's not a magic prayer. It's not pixie dust it's not fairy tales it's real God is saving you right now in your chair
you feel something welling up in your belly you're shedding tears something in you is feeling drawn
right now to God this was your moment he knew before the foundation of the world you would be
hearing this voice you'll be sitting in this room. You'll be watching across this screen. You'll be listening to this message on the side of the road, and you feel God
wooing you right now to the Lord. You feel Jesus calling you to himself,
making you brand new, making you a son or daughter, saving you, transforming you, filling filling your house with the Spirit of God.
If I'm talking to you, I want to pray for you.
On the count of three, I'm just going to ask you to lift your hand so I can see you.
Say, preacher, pray for me.
That's me.
I feel God doing something in me right now.
I'm running from my sin. I'm throwing my life on the altar.
I'm running towards Christ. This is your throwing my life on the altar. I'm running
towards Christ. This is your moment. He knew it before the foundation of the world. One,
the Lord is calling you. Two, today is the day it high. Lift it high. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
That's what I'm talking about right there. Lift it high. Lift it high. Yeah. Yeah. Everybody with
your hand raised. I want to talk to you. I want you to stand up right now. Everybody stand. Tell
the person next to you, get out of my way. I want you to come down here. I want to talk to you, my brother, right there in the blue.
Come down here right now.
I want to talk to you.
If you're in the overflow, run over here to this room right now.
Come down here.
I want to talk to you right now.
Come down here.
I want to talk to you right now.
Come down here.
If you're in the overflow, run over here. Open that door. If you're in the overflow, run over here. Open that door.
If you're in the overflow, run over here right now. Come close.
Come close. I want to talk to you. Come close.
Come close. I want to talk to you. Come close.
Come close. Come close.
Somebody celebrate.
Come on, celebrate.

As sovereign as God is the Holy Spirit. No man can do this for you. Yes. Fire, God. Yes, yes, yes. Yes, yes, yes. Jesus, yes, yes, yes. Cry, cry will do My God, I just want You
Nothing else, nothing else
Nothing else will do, Jesus
We just want You
Nothing else, nothing else, nothing else will do, God.
We just want you, oh.
Nothing else, nothing else, Jesus, nothing else, nothing else will do.
Sing, I just want you.
We just want you.
Nothing else.
Oh, nothing else.
Nothing else will do.
We just, we just want you.
Nothing else. I can only hope for nothing else
Nothing else
Nothing else will do
Nothing else
Nothing
Nothing And nothing else, nothing, Father, I pray over all of these new brothers and sisters.
I can't do this, God.
Only you can do it as sovereign.
Only you know what's happening at this altar.
I don't know.
But for those you are truly saving,
those you have
truly saved,
I thank you that they're being filled right now
with the Holy Spirit. These
houses are being swept
and filled with the Holy Spirit.
We come against every
demonic force.
The demons will flee.
Bodies will be filled with
your spirit. Sons and daughters
are being born again and saved.
You're catching tears falling
at this altar.
I pray they would be sealed with the
Holy Spirit according to Ephesians
1.13.
I pray that their names will be read
in the Lamb's book of life according to the book of Revelation.
I pray you will change their desires.
That they will pursue you, your word and your presence with everything in them.
That they will be lovers of the scriptures, lovers of your presence, lovers of worship.
I pray, God, you'll put a hedge of protection
around them and that today will be the beginning of the rest of their lives. I pray they'll
never be the same. Now you say, when one sinner repents, all of heaven rejoices. So we rejoice.
