Actions Detrimental with Denny Hamlin - Denny Hamlin Just Won Pocono Again, and He’s Got Thoughts
Episode Date: June 15, 2026Denny Hamlin is back on Actions Detrimental after winning at Pocono, and apparently winning three straight races is just “a good run” now. Denny breaks down how the No. 11 team got it done, why P...ocono fits him so well, and why he says their advantage is earned, not unfair. He gets into the strategy, the restarts, the qualifying piece, the final stage, and why Toyota has everyone’s attention right now. Then Denny gets into the qualifying metric debate and, shocking no one, he has thoughts. He explains why he does not love the idea of random qualifying draws, why he thinks some teams need to stop blaming the format, and why “randomness is not sports.” Plus, Denny reacts to Zane Smith’s restart move, the Austin Hill/SVG/Josh Berry crash, Legacy Motor Club’s recent speed, the playoff bubble, SVG’s next two weeks on road courses, the Josh Berry/Wood Brothers news, and the Michael Jordan comments that gave him a little extra fuel this offseason. Also in this episode: confetti gun chaos, Travis worrying about putting a Denny Bros sticker on his Kia, San Diego expectations, road course survival goals, Knicks talk, and Justin Allgaier locking into the Xfinity playoffs. Oh, it went backwards.
What are you doing?
I pulled the tailor.
I pulled the tailor.
I pulled the tailor.
Some of the .
You twist.
I'm here.
I shot myself.
I plexicode it.
I shot yourself in the leg.
Yeah.
Oh.
Confetti.
God, Jared.
Ficked it all up.
He had one job.
Man.
I mean, I asked you three times. Are you ready?
The following is a production of Dirtymoe Media.
I believe that I've been a competitive for 20 years.
Opinions from tonight's podcast, strictly biased.
You're going to hear from my point of view.
I'm a fighter.
No, you are not.
The spoils of victory for Jared Allen.
He's got better luck to drink and drink to win.
I know, you do.
Two trophies missing from your collection,
the championship and the most popular driver.
Someone told me that their drinking game is when I say for sure.
Yeah, and I've already said it.
What's up, guys?
Welcome back soon.
It's detrimental.
That was action detrimental.
That if it were a gun, it would definitely be detrimental.
Pocono, we got another visitor.
Man, I love it when people make me bets and stuff.
So Trav gets a, for our third winner in a row, gets a Denny Bros.
Sticker.
So my question is, is the decal that?
No, it's not going to mess the paint on.
Are we sure?
Yes, I'm sure.
Okay.
I'm sure.
Why are you worried?
You sell the car to a Dennybro.
I mean, I'm worried because it's still my car.
Like, I don't want to.
You could probably sell that thing for over MSRP right now.
can put some wind stickers too
I mean
I never seen someone so concerned over
messing up their Kia
listen
it's a nice vehicle I'd like to keep it
beautiful color
yeah and the stitcher's sticker is gonna match
yeah it's gonna fit
perfectly yeah I just want to make sure
that it doesn't ruin
the car
so I will
since I'm going to be gone
I'll be out in San Diego this weekend
next week and when I come back.
Oh, you are? Yeah. Oh, okay.
I've got a sticker in my backpack just saying we could go,
we can go put this thing on. Do you have the long one?
No, no. Yes, I've got the, like the one that Reddick had.
So we're going to do it. Okay. All right.
So I can do it next week. We can, Jerry can shoot it. We can do something with it.
Okay. Um, Pocono. Another win for the 11.
we're on one right now.
It was a good run.
Why is it over?
Because it's over.
You know.
In the media you were like, oh, it's keep this thing going.
Because I need a break.
I've been grinding so hard over this last little sprint here.
Like you win one, aren't you want to go back to back?
You want to win three in a row?
A lot of bandwidth taking up.
I just,
we're going to try really hard in San Diego
I'm actually optimistic about San Diego
maybe all are crazy
or think I'm crazy which you should
but
yeah I like the track
super technical
marks based
narrow
can't make a whole lot of mistakes
it's going to be
it's going to be a site
I'm really going to be
interested to see like the truck series very first practice i think they're probably the first on the
track uh all three series is there right yeah that's good so yeah there'll be something to be learned
by just watching tv and and kind of checking things out um trucks will be on 12 o'clock on friday is their
first time okay and we're on track friday too right yeah five all right yeah so uh looking forward to it
Yeah, we've been in the grind of the ovals for a little bit now.
We're going to a couple road courses out west in California.
San Diego this week, Sonoma the next.
Yeah, just an awesome run that we've been on.
We definitely want them in different ways and shapes and fashions.
But, you know, I thought that this week, I don't, you know, I don't necessarily know how it looks.
on TV or how it felt to you guys, but I, you know, I didn't think we were dominant.
You felt dominant early on.
Yeah, I thought we were, where we were good was essentially the last 10 to 15 laps of a run.
I thought the Hendrick cars, don't look now, the Hendrick cars were really fast for the first
three quarters of a run.
And I was really, I was fast for the last.
quarter I think it kind of shows in lap times as well I probably ran like the I don't know like I don't even think I was in the top five of the fastest laps of the race if you look at Bozzi's tweet the field actually year over year I got slower the field actually came to me this year as far as like the gap from first to fifth like you know he had me still ranked first in speed year
over year, but the fifth place, it had tightened up quite a bit year over year. So it's kind of how I
felt, felt like it was. I thought we just, I thought we executed a great race. We qualified well.
We executed a great race. And we made the strategy work because we had, you know, because of those
restarts. And so that's kind of where it all, how it all came together. And so, so yeah, just a, you know,
awesome for me personally.
I didn't think three in a row really mattered
until it actually happened.
What?
What do you mean?
It didn't matter.
It definitely matters.
Like from a stat standpoint.
No one's going to care.
A year or two from now,
like no one's going to care about three.
Sure.
Sure.
So I didn't think it was that significant
other than in the media center.
The media told me that you're the only person
in the top 10 of wins.
It's never had a three in a row.
I'm like, wow, really.
Like, that's really hard to freaking do.
All those drivers got three in a row at one point?
That's what I mean.
Now, I get it back in, you know, the petty days and stuff.
It was so different back then.
And I can understand while that, but still, I guess maybe there's, you know, I guess
half to, there's only half of them that really raced in the last 30 years.
Is that right?
y'all are going to pull up the list you gotta have this shit you're making you're making some math
math problems i'm not i'm just trying to figure out i think it's obviously i say it's harder now but
fredig did it earlier we did it now so i don't know what argument i'm making bell did it last year
bell did it larson did it in 2021 didn't he yeah here me here's your top 10 was it's petty
parsons gordon alison walchip jimmy kale dale
you, Kyle. So like only handful are. Yeah, recent. Um, so yeah, I mean, I, it's, I mean, it speaks,
really, it speaks to how good those guys are that, you know, they're able, all of them got three
in a row at one point. That's, that's crazy. Were you confident going in? Because it seemed like
this week you were down playing it to the Denny Bros. Um, I don't know. It was just a grind this week. I,
you know, and maybe it's just I'm nitpicking the car here and there, you know, it's pretty good.
I'd normally be pretty happy with this, but I need you to fix this. We fix that. Now you've screwed up
this. And it's like it just was, it just never stopped. And so I don't know, it just felt like a grind
this week. And so I certainly wasn't overly confident. And then even in practice, I mean,
I can tell you all that's not like we just came dialed the fucking in. You know, we were off in
practice. I think I pitted after four laps of practice. I usually never try to do that.
But I just, the balance was just so far off. And so we worked on it. That's what you do.
Your balance is off. You work on it.
And so we got it better.
And then I thought overnight, I thought we got, you know, we got it pretty close.
You know, I told you overnight you asked for a rating pre after practice.
Yeah.
And I said 47 and a half.
The reason I said 47 and a half is that the car had speed, even though it didn't have balance.
So like if we could get that last two and a half percent of balance, then I thought that, you know,
was going to be really good, and obviously starting up front. And then overnight, I thought we
did like a 48% job. So we had a 95.5% car, I thought, this weekend, which that aligned. I thought
that, again, there was time that I was racing, you know, it was hard as I could race. And their
cars definitely faster. That's just so surprising that you, I don't know, of your three wins here,
that race felt like the most dominant of the three.
It just never really felt like it was ever in doubt, honestly.
Yeah, but are you biased that you just think we're going to win?
No.
I think it's also because the previous two, you had to go to the back.
And those were dominant in a different way.
But like once you started coming to Larson midway through stage one,
and you just stayed up front all day aside from the start of the race.
We didn't stay.
We had to restart in the teens at one point.
Right, but just by strategy, right?
Cars stay out, cars flip.
Right.
But you never got stuck there.
Every restart after the first start of the race was really good.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't know.
I just think, I think the perception probably is that, you know,
it just so much faster everyone else.
It's just, that's not accurate.
No, I don't think, I don't think that,
the case. But I think you at Pocono, the way you race the race, the way the team has to be
managed a certain way that that race, it always comes down. There's a few things the race comes down
to. First is qualifying. First, you have to have a competent fast car. Like you have to have,
you know, a car in that 45% range when you unload, right? You got to have that first. Then you need to
qualify well. Then you need to have good strategy and then you need to have good restarts.
Those are that, you got all that, then you'll, you're going to win eight or nine times
we're on that racetrack. But it's, but that's what, that's what it is. And if you have one of
those things that is not right, it, you're just, it's not, you're not going to be out front
when it really matters. So would it be accurate to say that you won this race on Saturday in
qualifying? It was helped. It definitely was helped by going out there and qualifying well, no doubt.
I mean, it just makes your strategy so much easier because at this track, like if you're having
a race from behind, it's so difficult to pass there that, you know, if you go and you qualify
25th, you're going to need to have a really fast car. If you have a really fast car, what are you doing,
qualifying 25th?
then you're going to need to have
you're going to need to have cautions fall your way
you're going to have to have great restarts
and then you're going to have to pull some sort of strategy
to get you up there
and then you will be at a tired disadvantage
to guys like me who are started up front
work our own you know work the proper strategy
based off of the race distance
and we're not trying to make up anything right
We're just trying to keep, stay up front.
We're not trying to gain positions through strategy.
We're just trying to maintain.
So you're going to be at a tired disadvantage because of the strategy you have to pull
because you didn't qualify well in other things.
I thought the two moments for you were one at the end of stage two.
You were able to get points and then more cars pitted than Gail had predicted.
So I think you came out to start the final stage like sixth.
And then also that restart when you were in 13th.
Reddick was ahead of you.
believe Elliot, I think, might have been up there. And that restart was the perfect restart for you.
Well, it was the same as what it was in Texas. The difference in this race in Texas with like me and
Chase Elliott is that Chase Elliott got the best of me at the restarts. He was me here at Texas. He went
forward on the restarts. I went nowhere. And it was the same way. Chase really didn't go anywhere
this race
and so it just kind of
that's this
what it comes down to is these little moments
here and there
but the last five Pocono races
first
first
right first
second second
first
I mean that's
that's dominant
it is
but they were done in different ways
some
some of those
those were really dominant.
Some of those I thought we nailed the strategy.
We did a great, I think one time we went really long,
motor through the field, late in the race,
very similar to what Redick did at the end of the race.
So they've been done differently.
What's not been done differently is my driving style around the racetrack.
That is what I remain consistent at and it just makes speed there.
Do you feel like you have an advantage over everybody else when it comes to this track?
Is it an unfair advantage?
No.
Okay.
I mean, people talk today like advantages are like unfair.
Well, it's because your car's cheated up.
Idiots.
By the way, we're running the same car for the last few years.
Then their manufacturers have changed their cars.
they have their latest and greatest car
that they wanted to change
over the last 24 months.
We haven't changed anything.
So, you know,
Bozzie will tell you,
now the conditions are different,
but we're the same speed we were last year.
We ran, our lap time,
our average lap time was within like a couple of hundreds.
actually slower, a little bit slower this year.
So I don't know, man.
Yeah, the Toyotas in general are really got it clicking right now,
but it ain't unfair.
We started this race at the same time.
Everyone had the same opportunity.
And, you know, this is a product of a lot of hard work from a lot of people to get to this point.
This is what we strive for.
every manufacturer wants to go out there and figure out the best way to optimize their cars and engines and all the stuff
but Toyota right now has it's got it figured out better than the rest of them and it ain't it ain't because of an unfair advantage it's a fair advantage that was earned through hard work
no I just met my my question about advantage is just from the standpoint of winning I know I know I know
to nine of these eagles here it's um maybe I think that
there are others that know how to get around Pocono, you know, really well.
But, you know, I don't know.
I just have, every time I go there, when I go into turn one for the very first time,
I know exactly what I need to feel out of the car.
I know exactly when I need to pick up the throttle.
It's just all the things, right?
And it's just so is it an advantage?
Maybe.
64 wins now.
Trabb, we're going for 70.
I know.
We might hit 70 this year.
Like this, like, oh, I'm not going to get to Dale.
Like, stop it.
We get to, it's 64.
Nobody cares.
One year after retirement, nobody will care.
If you got 60 or 75, no one cares.
70 sounds pretty cool.
I hear you.
I hear you.
And you got next year.

I don't know.
What else do I want to talk about in this race?
It was, um...
Did you think at any point where you...
I mean, we have a lot to talk about in this race.
I don't know what I'm talking about.
At any point were you worried about, uh, bell making it?
Or did you...
Not really.
Not really.
Um, you know, I've been in those things.
situations before, not necessarily Pocono, but other tracks were, I mean, you're required to save
so much. When they initially told me the gap to him, I don't know when it was, he was maybe 13 seconds
ahead, 10 seconds ahead. There was about that many laps to go. And I knew that in order to save
lots of fuel at that place, you're going to have to really slow your pace up a lot. So I really
wasn't too concerned with Bell.
What about the cars behind you, Byron and Reddick?
A little bit with Byron.
You know, he made a really good charge there in stage three.
It was flat out faster than we were.
I was running, you know, you heard the team on the radio telling me to go as hard as I could.
But, yeah, I mean, I thought that, you know, I was pushing the car and as much as what I felt
comfortable pushing it.
and yeah, he still was able to gain on us a couple tens of lap.
Once he got within about 10 car lengths or so,
it seemed like all the hindered cars in general fell off the last, you know,
quarter of every run.
It wasn't just a Byron thing.
It wasn't just a Larson thing at the very first stage.
I noticed it with Elliot's when we were racing for the lead.
Same thing.
They were really fast.
You know, I think they've really gotten,
better on all-out speed.
It sounds like, you know, if you kind of pick apart their interviews a little bit,
that they kind of are just going back to basics when it comes to setup.
So, you know, I don't think there's any magic wand that, oh, we have, we've figured out
this trick thing or another.
It's like, it sounds like a setup thing from those guys where they all said that, man,
our cars just drove more comfortably this week.
And so it seems like, you know, they're getting back to basics.
And it's certainly netting their drivers liking the way their cars were driving.
And it showed in speed this week.
Yeah, Larson said that they're getting closer and he was happy with it post-race.
Yeah.
And he mentioned that, you know, Pocono has been a track where they really have struggled with their balance.
But he felt pretty happy with it.
So Dysendrick, they got this.
new body, right, that they haven't quite figured out yet, but are getting closer on. Do they have a
higher ceiling than Toyota if they can get there? Do we know that? I don't know. We don't know
what everyone's optimum performance is. You know, it's an infinite number or a thing. It's a thing we
constantly trace. It's as a driver. I'm always, people ask all the time, you ever get bored? No. I'm
to figure out how to make this corner faster than I just made the previous corner.
All the while, the track is changing.
Rubber laying being down is different.
There's traffic in front of me.
There's traffic behind me.
All these moving elements.
Every straightway, I'm thinking about what are the elements and how am I going to approach
this corner to get around the fastest and most optimum way?
And so when I make that corner, right, I got another 30 seconds to,
I get back to that corner. Well, now I'm processing, let's just say I'm going down the back straight
away, back into turn three again. I'm thinking, how did I approach it last time? What could I do to hit my
mark better? Is there a different line I should choose? Have I maxed out what this line is capable of?
Should I move to another line to see if there's more speed there? All right, let's go to that other line.
We go to the other line. It's showing it's about a tenth off, but you know what? I didn't hit that
corner that great. Let me try that again. You know what I mean? So it just, it just constantly
I do that every straightaway. This past this last weekend, you're doing that every straightaway.
Do you know, you know in the car that you don't need your, your, the proper lap time? Do you have the
lap time in the car? Yeah. And so I can see it. I don't need them to read them to me. So I can see
them. And I typically, now at a track like Pocono where you got three corners like that,
I usually can identify, and a lot of it is experience.
I can identify, let's just say my lap time is a 53 second flat.
I'll know which corners I've got room to improve on and which corners that, you know what,
I need to figure out a different approach to this corner.
And then I'll look at the lap times and I'll say 53, 20, and be like, yeah, you know what,
but I hit that corner better.
I just didn't put the other two together.
Yeah.
Once I do that, then it's going to be a 5290, right?
So it's lots and lots goes into this.
Are there more combinations at Pocono because of the three corners, like at Charlotte, right?
Like, you, oh, I just ran a really good turn one.
I'll just do that next time.
And then turn two may be okay.
But at Pocono, like, you could run a really good one, a really good two, a really bad three.
And it negates everything you accomplished in one and two.
Which is why qualifying, qualifying at Pocono is like,
you have to put the three together.
I think they asked Tyler Redick afterwards,
and it's like, you know,
oh, man, it's just, you're in group two.
He's like, yeah, I just didn't run a good lap.
It didn't make me drive into the corner
and get loose and miss my mark.
You know what I mean?
So is it harder to run one good lap at Pocono
because of these factors an additional corner?
It's really hard because you know one bobble,
the straightaways are so long
you pay that penalty
all the way down the straightaway
where on a
like a short track or whatever
you go into another corner
in five seconds
you don't go into another corner
for 15 seconds at Pocono
so you're just
when you get that bad run
through the corner
and you have a bobble
if you watch Ross Chastain's
turn three in qualifying
gets a little loose
he has to catch it
oh man, it just kills them all the way down the straightaway.
And you practice an hour before you qualify.
So are you dialing in a line that you're going to run in your qualifying lap in practice?
Or you kind of have to guess because the track's changing.
Like every time I looked over at you on Saturday, you're looking up at the sky.
I'm like, what is he looking at?
But you're looking at the cloud cover, the sun.
Right.
And how that affects.
It affects track temperature.
and it affects how deep I drive into the corner.
I guess you got it right.
Well, it was, they got the balance.
They got the balance right.
That was the key there.
We fired off in practice.
And, you know, even though we were P2 overall,
the balance was off.
If we were to qualify that balance,
it would have been not good.
But, you know, yeah, we were at a, you know,
if you look at the, from a track temp perspective,
I mean, the last 12 cars of qualifying were at a massive disadvantage
versus the cars that went in the middle of qualifying.
Early to mid, they had a far better racetrack to qualify on.
So you're saying the metric actually hurt you this week
because you had to qualify later in the...
Exactly.
I mean, do y'all want to dig it?
Y'all want me to go there because I'm on a rant, right?
Yeah.
But I have like legitimate questions about it.
I just...
Teat the people up.
Jared?
What are we talking?
So, I'm not entirely sure what we're talking about, but
qualifying order.
He fired up his Twitter this morning to respond to a few tweets about people
saying that they don't like the qualifying metric,
that the qualifying metric is outdated and that we need to switch it.
And then maybe it's just be a random draw.
Right.
Right.
Okay.
Let's be factual first.
The facts are, if you were early in qualifying,
most weeks, most weeks, it is a disadvantage to be, let's call it in the first, certainly the first
10 cars.
Now there's some weeks where the track will continue to get better as the session goes on.
You know, the session's nearly an hour long.
So, and when we qualify at, you know, 435 o'clock at a given race.
track and it ends at 630, of course, it's going to cool down and the track's going to get
cleaner. And so why is it, why is it not good to go out early? There's, the main reason is the
rubber on the racetrack. So, uh, we had just came off the racetrack. So group B, the second
group had just gone out there, been practicing for, do we qualify, practice for 20 or 25 minutes?
25, I think. Whatever it is. So we're out there and we're running race runs, right? So we're
more than likely when that session ends, we had just completed a long run. So that rubber,
like you see at Dover, on the racetrack, it's really, really black. That is on the racetrack.
It's just invisible to the TV. You can't really see it when it's on an asphalt.
Not as much. So what happens is those first few cars when they go out there on their new tires,
they're picking up so the rubber that is being that has laid from that practice session on the
racetrack it is sitting there and those tires when they start to get a little bit of heat in them
will start to pick up the race rubber from practice and so it takes about 10 cars i mean that
that's a that's a conservative number but i think it's about 10 cars to at that
point, the racetracks is as clean as it's going to get. It's not, you know, it might get
faster because of temp, but it's not going to get faster because of the rubber on the racetrack.
So, so what's going on is you got that disadvantage of you got to go, you got to go out early.
Well, why do you have to go out early?
You're a car now that's cleaning, cleaning off the track for the later cars.
the racetrack. That's correct. So we're never going to go back to group qualifying.
Like that's, that people win each other's way. No, that will never happen. So we can forget that.
So someone has to go first. Someone has to go first. So as do we want to make it, should it be random?
Is that sports? Is that, should we just see the NCAA tournament randomly?
Or should we do it to where the best teams play the worst teams?
And the playoffs is the same way.
You have seating for a reason.
So randomness is not good for sports because I try to give the example is that,
well, what if you're, what if someone, Brad Kosalski is on the bubble?
We're going to Dover as the regular season finale.
You think it's fair for Brad Kosalski to drive?
all the number 36 pill or the number one pill and he has to go out first. No, it should be,
he had ample time throughout the season to accumulate points, wherever he is in points. That's
30% of the metric. And then it's 50% of where you are or it's 70% of where you finished last
week. So I think what Kelly and Toby are saying is that, oh, you just, you finish bad one week
and you have to race the next week with your arm tie behind your back.
And I just, I don't, I don't get that because you should be able to overcome it.
Like you never should get stuck in group one.
You work your way out.
Just that, you know, if you get stuck in group A week after week after week,
it's because you're not high enough in points.
That's a big sample size.
it's because you've got bad finishes, week after week after week.
It's, that's, you know, maybe you have bad luck one week, but it's, maybe you have it
two weeks in a row.
But it's like, we're in week 15 right now.
If you're 25th in points, it ain't because of bad luck.
Yep.
It's because you're just not good enough and you got to get better.
And my argument is that the track from group A to group.
group B, there's 25 minutes between the two.
The race is three and a half hours long.
What do you think changes more?
The track at the beginning of the race and the end of the race or group A to group B in practice?
Like, you got to be versatile, man.
You got to stop making excuses about, well, we didn't get the same track.
And come on, man.
We're in professional sports.
Like, you got to be able to adapt a little bit better.
Yes, you might not be P1 on the charts because
Maybe group B is faster this week.
But the track is, it's just, I've been in group A.
I deem the information just as useful as I do when I run in group B.
I'm going to be in group B more than likely it's Sonoma.
Like, it's, you know, it's different because it's group qualifying there, but it's,
I think it's just more people wanting handouts and excuses.
people making excuses of their performance.
And we just can't get out of this.
I just don't believe that.
I believe that if you're stuck there,
it's because you're a bottom 18 team weekend, week out,
and you finish bottom 18 the previous week.
That's just, and so someone has to go first.
Are you going to penalize the guys that are going out there
and tops in the points and tops in the wins
and let them draw the number one pill?
Like, that's just unlucky.
Brad Kislovsky, if he draws the number one pill for the final regular season race and he's on the bubble by zero,
that's bleak.
No, there should be some sort of way to determine the qualifying order, and it's determined by the sample size.
Now, could you argue, make the where you're at in points weigh just as evenly as you're finished last week?
Sure.
Let's do that.
It's fine.
But you can't, randomness is not sports.
You know, we, do you know how much handouts we've given in the sports through lucky dogs?
I mean, up until this year, playoffs, resets, all the crap.
Wave arounds, lucky dogs, double file restarts, overtime finish.
All of it is to help the people that are behind.
They used to just throw the green flag and let that.
go all the way the checker and people will win by laps and laps and laps and laps.
Come on, man.
You got to get better.
Do any active drivers...
That's my rant on that.
Do any active drivers support changing it?
Because I feel like it's a lot of people like meteor fans, but like do act...
Are there any active drivers are like, yes, this is unfair?
I would think you would find a few that certainly would deem that it's unfair.
I'm not disputing that going out in the top 10 is a disadvantage.
I just laid the facts out.
It is a disadvantage.
But how did you get there is my question, right?
Yeah, I'm with you.
Like, if this was fourth.
How did you get there?
If you're in the top 10 of going out, you were really shi-point and he had a really
shit-finished last week.
I mean, Bubba's a good example of this, right?
Had an abysmal May.
I don't remember where he went out to qualify admission.
but it had to not been good
and then finished well at
Michigan went out two spots
ahead of you in qualifying here at Pocono
crashed in his qualifying
lap finished outside the top 20
now he's probably going to have a poor
qualifying star flasher but
he had a poor one dug out of it
qualified in the in the
back with you this weekend
and then obviously what happened happened but
you can dig out of it
there's right
it's not like he's
stuck in group A for forever.
When you had the bad finish,
if you have a bad finish,
you can pretty much count on
you're going to be in group A.
But that doesn't dictate
your bad
finish of that week.
And I think that that's what the race teams
are
some teams are saying
is that, oh, we finish bad this week
because we're in group A in practice.
Like,
I don't believe that.
I think that is,
uh,
You have enough time in the race to work your way to the front.
If you're good enough, if your team is good enough,
you have enough time to work yourself into a good finish
to get yourself out of that group.
But if you're not good enough,
then you're just looking for any help you can get.

Let's talk about a guy and an incident during this race
who, again, I believe was a guy who's
been in Group A for majority
of the season, but lately here has been running really
well, and that's Zane Smith.
Yep.
I
was racing Zane and
man he when i heard him get back into the gas off of turn two i immediately started looking left because
i was like oh man he's going to have to come up the racetrack as much throttle as he put it in the car
um i'm you know he he just tried everything he could to to stay off of us right there and end up
wrecking himself but um yeah it was um i mean even if he ran into the side of me and said oh
well i'm just you know he still was going to end up on the inside wall because he's going to
ricocheted off my door. So he just put himself in a bad spot there and why that was that was a
bummer for him. Is that just youth? I think he understands the importance at the restarts, but you know,
at that time he was somewhat up front already, right? And so maybe a little bit. I mean, he's typically
one of the more aggressive guys on restarts, high risk, high reward type of driver on restart.
start. Does it all stem from that move to go three wide? He had that run, you know, coming down
the straightaway there, went three wide to the inside of you. Did this all stem from that? Did it start there?
Yeah, I think I was the inside of Blaney. And when two cars run side by side of Pocono,
you know, they, it just, it creates a big hole for that third car that's, that's approaching.
And Zane's thinking at that point, I'm just going to get two for one here. It's hard enough to pass.
I can go grab two right here.
But, you know, it's a move that gets made commonly.
It just, you didn't make it work.
Backtracking a little bit here.
Travis has got it on the sheet that when you did pass Larson,
Casey Mears was a part of the situation.
What did you see there?
Yeah, Kyle just guessed wrong on where Casey was going to be.
You know, that's part of the cat and mouse game that you have
when you have two leaders battling and you're approaching lap cars,
is the leaders constantly trying to guess where the car in front is going to go before he gets there.
And I think that what he probably saw was that the 62 was running low on the previous couple corners.
And then when we got to him, Casey was probably trying to do the right thing and give Larson the bottom because Larson was running the bottom.
so he moved up high to, I'm giving Casey the benefit of doubt here, moved up high to give
Larson his lane, but Larson probably more than likely thought, well, he had been running low,
so I need to go around him on the high side here.
So they both were thinking the same thing at the same time.
He got caught in Casey's wake and then that let me get by.
Yeah, lap traffic.
Yeah, I mean, it's a big factor here at Pocono.
know it takes a long time to get to it but it um if you have a long green flag run it's it's a part of it
uh we had another big wreck in stage two um did you see this well stage one shout out to
our stage one yeah or i'm sorry you're right sorry stage two i won stage one yeah i thought you're
just about to shout out yourself it went in no i was not i was not stage one shout out me no
i was going to give a stage two shout out okay stage two shout out okay stage two shout out
go ahead to our favorite dishwasher Todd Gillen.
We don't have this post-malone show on the show, by the way.
Do we want to add that?
And shout out to his wife as well who has to put up with him listening every Monday evening.
The dinner and there, I mean, thank you.
But, man.
Well, you know, we appreciate it.
Yeah.
But stage win for Todd Gillen.
Mm-hmm.
It's a great run.
I know.
Plus.
Plus.
So what were you saying about stage two?
The wreck.
This is the Austin Hill one.
Yeah.
This was the Austin Hill, Josh Berry, SVG.
It was, I mean, Austin Hill just came up too high.
I don't know.
So I think SVG and Josh Barry were playing grab ass with each other.
If you look, you know, if you rewind the tape.
a few laps like these guys were
somebody put somebody in a bad spot
next to you know the other ones run the other guy up high
and then Austin Hill was like all right well I'm just going to go
low and pass the both of you all I think what Austin probably
thought is that their momentum had slowed so much
that he was going to be able to clear on the exit
but he wasn't he wasn't clear and if you listen to Derek his spotter
he never called him clear but
slight miscalculation on Austin's part and certainly wadded up some there.
Joey Legano got in it.
Bubba.
Bubba was in it.
Noah Gregson was in it.
Brad thought Bubba did something, but Brad, I don't, got the worst end of it, right?
Yeah.
But watching the video, I didn't like.
I didn't see the whole Brad, Bubba.
Brad said that Bubba got into Lagano, but watching it, I don't see it.
I don't have to.
I'm going to have to look at it.
But yeah, I didn't see that.
All I saw was the tail end of the thing.
Bubba spinning in the tail end.
And I think somebody, like, hit the left side of his car,
but it didn't sound like there was any damage from it.
But anyway.
Yeah, a nice save by Bubba, I think.
I don't know anything about driving.
Yeah, I didn't think he hit anything major.
But, yeah, it's just a squeeze play by Austin Hill.
squeezed SVG, a bit of a berry.
Yeah, that's Pocono for you.
The next thing we have here on the sheet
is when you came over the radio
and said something feels much.
Something feels funny.
Your mom immediately called bull-h-h-ness
in the bus, by the way.
What do you mean?
You came over the radio
that they would have been in stage two, right?
Or was it in stage three?
I think it was stage two.
And you said, be ready, something.
It was right before a green flag,
pit stops.
Okay.
Be ready, something feels,
off. Yep, I remember. And then all of a sudden, you like set a fast lap or something. Your mom goes,
they didn't even ask them what feels off. She's like, that's, there's nothing wrong. So I think
what it was was the sealer that was coming up in the racetrack. And so I hit a clump of that.
And he said that when he pulled the tires off, there was like a huge chunk of rubber inside the
left rear wheel. So that, that makes the tire off balance, which makes it have less grip.
Because it felt like to me that I was looser.
Yeah.
And so I just, yeah, it just jarred me there for a minute.
Your mom knew it wasn't a big deal.
She said they didn't even diagnose the issue here.
Just ignore me?
Yeah, just ignore them.
She thought it was part of the strategy.
You know, like maybe tell the other drivers, Denny's got an issue here.
You guys should pit or something.
What else here, Trave?
Well, stage three, right?
So we got through stage two.
One of our favorite listeners, Todd, won that.
Stage three then just turned out to be like...
It was strategy.
It was strategy.
It's pretty much, that's a standard Pocono race.
What really helped you was that restart?
You're like, tell Brisco he's got to stay on me.
That shout out to Chase Brisco, no doubt.
Push me all the way into turn one.
that was a key moment.
Y'all want to know, I made a big mistake, though.
You couldn't see it on TV.
I actually, I downshifted.
Like, I'm on the front.
I'm on the front of the, so I was running restarts.
I'd go into turn one and keep it in fourth gear all the way around the corner.
I just, my brain said, oh, I'm going in turn one, downshift.
I went from fourth to third.
You couldn't see it on TV because I still cleared John Hunter,
but I downshifted.
This thing went,
like,
in the rev limiter,
because I went to the wrong gear.
So could you,
can you blow the car up that way?
Yeah,
that's what I thought.
Yeah.
Yeah,
it's not like the old days that,
you know,
they got a lot more protections now,
but the valve springs
certainly took a beating.
Remember that race in Vegas where you had a kick-ass car and then downshift and then blew the whole thing up?
Oh, that was one of the fastest cars I'd ever had.
It was the first next-gen Vegas race.
And yes, I just was so used from going second to third in a H pattern.
And the first year and next year, you got to keep pulling it back if you want to shift.
So I went and boom, boom.
I mean, it just exploded the car.
Dang. So we were this close to the King's Hawaiian curse continuing. Yes. Damn. It's over now. Once,
once you win once. Yeah, the curse is broken. When do we have Bob's on an Oval?
I don't know. What do we got the next few weeks? We got Yahoo and Bob's. Yeah, Bob's next week. Yahoo! Sonoma?
So Bob's is San Diego? Yeah. Do we have Bob's for Richmond?
that's the next curse we got to if we do let's bring have them bring some furniture over to the campsite
oh yeah definitely that's that's a good idea um i don't know i'm gonna give them a good run this weekend
san diego i just i don't know i feel good about san die everyone's up in the air about this weekend
before we move to san diego what's what tastes better a beer or a jello shot
the jello shot was pretty money i didn't think about
it until after I was like,
y'all didn't poison this, did you?
I had people text them to me immediately.
What is he doing?
Yeah, not.
I was, I was,
I just was in the moment, man.
Was it rum, vodka?
What were we working with?
I don't know.
It tasted like vodka,
but it didn't have much in it.
It didn't have,
the beer,
I'm starting to like the post-raced beer.
It's not bad.
I'm not a beer tasting.
You're not,
a beer guy period. I'm not. I'm not a drinker period, but I just feel as though
beer I've just never acquired a taste for it, but it's starting to taste pretty damn good
after these races. What kind of beer they got in there? I don't know. We're not at that,
we're not at that level yet. Reebate. No, I wouldn't have a clue.
So, anyway, stage three, it kind of went.
As planned, you know, we got the good restart.
Once we were able to control, I tried to, you know, run as fast as I could.
I didn't actually have that big of a lead when the pit stop started.
45 shows to go long.
That was a great strategy for him.
And we were just kind of hanging on there at the end.
You were able to hold off the 24 and the others.
But yeah, just the long run really helped me, no doubt, this weekend.
That was a big benefit at the end of the end of the.
the race as well when the 24 was coming on strong.
What do we make of legacy?
Yeah, they're, you know, definitely, you can't deny over the last few weeks, they've got
a lot better with their speed, with their cars.
And I think this is to be predicted.
You know, they've been on their own island for a while with Toyota, just kind of doing
their own thing.
They did buy into some of the services that JGR provides,
but that hadn't shown a ton of fruit either.
And so I think there's probably a combination of things going on.
I think that generally they're just getting better as an organization.
They haven't been Toyota that long.
And they're now getting back to a lot of these racetracks for the second and third.
time and fourth time and you're just you start building a notebook um and and so i i certainly think that
they're they're seeing the fruits of a lot of hard work and i know they've changed so much personnel around
that place over the last few years and whatnot so it's good to see them running well and um
those guys up the front yeah and there's been some upper management competition moves recently right so
how much of that plays a role i yeah i don't
don't know. I'm not in the walls, so it's, it's really hard for me to say.
But they're not involved in your guys, they're not involved in any meetings that you're in.
So it's more just an information share. Right. Yeah, I mean, they were certainly not
pretenders this last weekend. Eric Jones has now raced his way. No, they were, they were legit
speed. And it seems like the really, the long run is where Eric Jones seems to be really,
really quick. Is he in the top 16? Should we just take a look at these, these points
standings? Yeah, Eric Jones, 15th, tied with Austin Cindrick on the cutline.
What's your deal, man? You've been slack. I forgot. I need to bring a new notepad,
and I just forgot to grab one. All right. Well, after Sonoma. All right.
It's like Brad's outside. RFK did have two, you know, all three cars in. Now they only got one in.
Brad moved down to 17th. He's four points out behind Austin Cindrick. So what's making it
tough too on like
the Leganos and
like Chastain like
how far is Chastain out? I keep
thinking he's at 2.94
he's about 60 points out
I mean that's enough time
I don't know why I'm still
a believer that the one car
is going to get
good enough to make it happen
but they have weeks where
man it's just like Michigan holy
moly they're way off. I mean this is a team that's
really struggling and qualifying
Every week,
Trackhouse is posting
their beautiful qualifying graphic
and it's P29, P31,
and the P34.
And I see that,
like, my algorithm
will feed me that as well.
Yeah.
And it's like,
it's like they're,
it's like following Stuart Haas
in their last couple years, right?
The fans are all up in their mentions
as soon as they post that graphic.
Yes.
That's why you're seeing it.
Here's the tough part for these guys
that are outside.
Like, who do you knock out?
Well, that's our,
so my point.
I was trying to get into was that
Eric Jones is now a new player in the bubble.
Yeah.
So like,
I don't know that those guys were planning on Eric Jones making it run.
And so now he's gotten in there.
And can they keep this going?
That could displace somebody else.
And so I don't know, man.
SVG can really cement himself as a contender here in his next two weeks.
Because he's not far from the bubble.
but, you know, we're going to two road courses.
What is he, is he 10 above right now?
No, he's six above.
All right.
Let's see.
SVG post-Sanoma will be X above the cut line.
I think, uh, I have my guess.
I'm going to say, are we doing a number or is like a greater than less than situation?
What is he going to be to the bubble?
He's six right now.
Greater than this or you just want me to tell you a number?
greater than what the bubble is.
I think he's at least,
I think he's at least 35 points up.
Oh, more.
Way more.
Way more?
I was going to say like 72.
You get 55 for just winning the race now.
You know what I mean?
The wins.
Yeah,
yeah.
Yeah.
My,
my,
I don't think that San Diego is a,
I know I'm crazy.
Maybe I'm crazy.
Maybe I'm crazy.
I think he's going to be 68 ahead.
I said 72, so,
but clearly I'm crazy.
68 you really thought about this
well I mean
like on the spot it's not like I
slept on it last night
just why not pick a round number
so then can he hang on from there
can he hang on from there
well he's going to have a good metric
he's going to go out later and qualifying
it's made then
his season's made you got two super speedways
also so that
oh that's a fact
he should be fine.
I think he's going to be okay then.
If he can get to that number with eight to go,
I mean, you're not going to feel comfortable,
but it's, you know,
I think he's got decent enough overall performance.
But man, he's also getting into a lot of wrecks here lately
or incidences that he doesn't need to.
Yeah, I think it's going to be key
on whether or not any of these.
bubble guys can stay consistent. I feel like that's just what we're seeing right now.
Is it anyone around the bubble can stay consistent? No.
You look at it. He finished 31st yesterday, 30th before last week. And the previous was 511, 19.
Like he's just got to avoid those 30th places. But man, this new point system is, it's great.
Heads and shoulders better than what it was last year.
Hey, everybody. It's Dellenhart Jr. and there is no better way to support.
Denny Hamlin than wearing actions detrimental gear at the racetrack.
You can also flip him the bird or head on over to shop.dirtymodemedia.com to see what we have.
Let's talk about the top.
19 back.
What do you need to be?
It was a good run.
What do you need to be leaving Sonoma to have a shot?
Oh.
With two super speedways, which y'all know the number one point score.
on Super Speedways is, right?
Tyler Reddick.
To feel like I can make a run,
I only got a few tracks to do it.
The other is, you know,
we've got the coin flips of the...
I'm so tainted by Super Speedways.
You'll have Chicago, you'll have North Wilkesboro,
you'll have Indie, Iowa,
Richmond, New Hampshire, your other ones.
He's better than me at Iowa.
Or has been.
And he tested there.
I don't know.
We're going to have to keep him close.
50.
You think he could get 50 away from you in these next three weeks?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Now, the only...
Here's the only thing.
What's your expectations for him?
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Typically, on road courses, the points are spread out a little bit more.
So you don't usually have massive point days and a good finish.
Right.
Because it's so hard.
Right.
So, I don't know.
I think I need to be 50 to feel like I maybe then can go win one or two more before the playoffs.
You get that 50 back through the bonuses.
It's still going to be really hard, y'all.
I'm telling you, this is a, we're not, you know, you're not going to just finish first every week of winning.
station.
This is not real life we're in.
I mean, what's your outlook for
reddick at San Diego?
My expectations is
top five, top five, top five.
You think?
Yeah, yeah.
I think he's one of the top
three or four road course racers.
I don't think that's disputed, is it?
But how much of a wild card
do you think San Diego is going to be in general?
When you're up front, it ain't no wild card.
Back there where I'm going to be running,
wild card.
Where's the stack up going to be?
I mean, you got a poll on a street course, though.
I got three poles in a row on row courses a few years ago.
Right.
So what are we talking about?
Maybe we turn back the clock this week.
I, listen, I know, listen, for my fans,
I know it seems like I'm giving up on, I'm not.
But I just at this point of my career,
I'm telling you, my bandwidth is better spent, focusing on tracks that we have a great shot
to win at and going ahead and winning at them, using that resource and that time to win at them
versus going to a road course and working my guts out to Joe, get five positions better.
The math doesn't math that way.
I just, I only have so much capacity.
And I just, I don't have the capacity.
to work on my road course game at this point of my career,
nor do I want to.
So I'm just going to go get my good finishes like I hope to go get.
We just,
Denny Brose can take a couple weeks off.
Just, you know, take it easy.
We got a good gap to third now.
It's not like, you know what I mean?
Like, everyone just relax.
We got, not much to gain, not much to lose.
We're okay.
We just, we need this little summer stretch to take a breath, reset,
focus on the next, focus on the run to the playoffs after that.
Take two weeks off.
Then we go in Chicago where you tested and are back off and running again.
Witt Smith 518 wants to know what, what's a win?
What's the goal for the road courses?
Top 15s.
Top 15s.
Mm-hmm.
I think that, you know, that's good enough damage to control for me.
No, I'm not expecting to go out there and run.
30th. Like, that's unacceptable. But, yeah, I mean, I'm going to leave those tracks thinking,
I mean, where have I been on the road courses this year? 10th and 15th? So, like, okay. It's just,
it's not our standard of expecting to go to the track and win. I think, I think a 10th, 15th place
finish is going to put you in a great spot heading into Atlanta in the points. That's my hunch.
But then we're going to have to get lucky, right?
Is that don't get caught up in the wreck?
But everyone's got to get lucky.
Everyone, you're right.
But it's not like you're starting from scratch.
It's not like, oh, well, who gets lucky or unlucky?
You are a redic.
It's, no, no, no, well, if you're behind, you have to get lucky and he has to get unlucky.
You know what I mean?
So it's not, you know, it's not totally straight up.
Yeah, unless you win.
When you're behind.
Unless you win, you're going to be, usually by.
a spot or two so it really doesn't get you much you have to win to get the true like yeah
win yeah i just don't think if you're if you're rambo in the 45 team you don't want this 11
team to catch you they've gone quiet just leave malone there's no they got no text the other day
leave them alone or not we're not no um what else we got here oh uh michael he's uh help motivate
you in the off-season?
Yeah.
I mean, you know, he just, he was more speaking to the general crowd.
He wasn't necessarily speaking to me.
He wasn't challenging me, but I saw it as a challenge.
You know, for context, for those don't know.
He just, you know, he dressed the team in the off-season.
We talked, you know, as ownership, we wanted to talk to 2311 about what our expectations
were, where we wanted to want.
want to see our team, you know, how we expect our guys to work together, all those things.
And, yeah, it was just, you know, I think we're, I don't know the full context.
I don't remember exactly how it got brought up.
It might have been talking about like adversity.
Like, you know, these races never go as plan.
Like, so what, now what?
You know, what's your next best move, right?
And so I forget the context, but he just brought up myself.
And it was, you know, it was right after all the bad stuff that had happened.
And he's like, yeah, yeah, I'm interested to see what Denny does and how he were, you know,
what does he do from last year?
And, you know, does he respond or does he fold up 10 or something like that?
And, you know, so at that point, I'm just back of the room.
Okay.
it's you know sometimes things like that is which all you need to fuel you yeah but it's you know
i i i've got enough fuel inside of me anyway i i'm a competitor right i love to compete no matter
what it is so um it feels good yeah it just it still feels like there's just a little
the dial's been turned up a little bit this year the last eight weeks have been pretty
pretty phenomenal yeah it's been a one of the best runs certainly i've ever
had. Do you think it's you and Gail just finally? Like as any, like, I have a theory that I think
you guys finally like have like clicked. I don't know the things really have changed much.
You know, we interact the same as we have last year to this year. I mean, this really goes back
to the starting at the playoffs of last year. You know, if you look at the results there, like this
started long ago. And do we need to talk about?
the earlier races in the season that we definitely should have won.
So this is not, I don't think this is just a last month thing.
It's been like this for a minute.
So, and it's, in my mind, it started last year.
Like that, that, just seemed like that Vegas race was the moment that unlocked something else.
Yeah, I mean,
You know your stats this year.
They're pretty insane.
Well, and they are.
And how about this?
I'm not leading the standings.
The 45 team, it doesn't get,
I know that media is talking about us right now,
rightfully so we've been winning.
But do you know how ridiculous a five or a seven average finishes
in the Cup series?
like and how hard that is to do i mean the 45 it ain't like he's like running like
and that's how we've caught him it's just he's still running in the top five to top 10 every
single week like every week when he didn't get wrecked so they're on just as a historical run is what
we are yeah i and i thought going into this week i was like okay redid qualified 16th and
maybe he's going to struggle to to to get up there
into the top five and
no more laps he may
he may have caught you.
Yeah.
Do you have any statement
for the New York Knicks fans?
To the fans?
Well, they were coming after you on Twitter
and wanted to know.
The fans can piss off.
I'm happy for the team.
I like the team.
I like the guys on the team.
Love their personalities.
Brunson's.
I don't know.
Is he an,
an underdog? Yes, because he's so short. Yeah. He's short. He's like 6-3, right? Yeah.
Okay. He's NBA short. Right. But it's just these games, man, you saw, you just, you saw it coming every time in the third quarter, even when they were up 12 in the 4th. Like, you just saw it coming. And it's like, they have, they can't stop this guy. They can't stop them.
So I don't know.
It was deserving.
I don't think it's just experience matters, right?
I don't, is anyone disputing talent-wise that the Spurs were better?
No.
I mean, they led for 70% of the entire series.
They just couldn't quite close it out.
And yes, they made some bad decisions down the stretches.
But the Knicks experience, man.
And sometimes you just got that alligator blood, man.
That's what the Knicks had.
And they just never gave up.
And so awesome for them.
What was it, 53 years or something?
Yeah.
That's incredible.
So awesome job by the Knicks.
I'm not a fan of the Knicks, but I appreciate the run that they went on.
And exciting games.
Oh, great TV.
Great sport.
Yep.
Off track news, Josh Barry out at Woodbrothers next year and Jesse Love in?
Question mark.
Where did you read?
Is that?
That's a name that's been floating.
Okay.
I'm like, why would you make that assumption?
That's why the question mark is there.
Oh, it's your question.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, I didn't write that.
I did.
Technically, Travis's a question mark.
But what do you make of Josh Barry out?
I don't know.
He's a fellow short track guy.
I'm a Josh Berry fan in general.
I don't know.
I mean, hopefully you can find an opportunity.
But it's just you're, the Wood Brothers, I just don't know.
Like, listen, it's Penske's team.
They put most, I think they put most of their development people on the 21 car.
because that is their
that's their pathway to a house car, right?
That's, I think that's the way it works.
I apologize if I'm wrong in that.
But I think the 21 team is mostly developmental people
to get ready to go into their main three cars.
Wood Brothers owns the charter.
Wood Brothers does their social accounts.
But I don't know how much the Woodbrothers,
do beyond that.
I could, again, I'm very uninformed.
But Penske is struggling and you have a development team on a struggling team.
My next question would be, what do you expect?
So, I don't know.
It just seems like the last three or four drivers they've had is not.
panned out good, right? So,
not really sure. I don't know how to
explain it, but
the performance is bad. Let's be factual.
Performance is bad, but you're with an organization that
is a parent that is struggling with speed, and you have
what you would, I would think, is the fourth
best
of that struggling team,
I just think that the bar is going to be pretty low.
So who goes in that car?
I have no idea.
I do not know about that.
I haven't heard, I mean, I've heard rumors,
but I've heard lots of rumors that have turned out to not be true.
So it's not for me to speculate.
Is Jesse Love ready?
I think Jesse Love is good enough.
I do.
I've seen him drive enough in a cup car with as little experience as he has.
I've seen enough technique-wise to say yes.
Jesse Love could go race a cop and be competitive.
Would that be a good situation?
That's the next question.
Let's just pretend he had that opportunity.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I'd have to think about that.
But there's not.
I'd have to ask a lot of questions if I'm Jesse Love or I'm Jesse Love's team.
And I hate that we're putting it out there that he's the guy.
Like, because somebody else might be on the customer signing this thing.
Let's just remove Jesse Love from the equation and just top Xfinity prospect.
Okay.
Is that a good situation?
If I'm his team, I'm asking.
lots of questions about who's on the car, where do they come from.
I need to know what my other opportunities are.
I need to kick around some other tires.
There's lots of things.
But odds are like if a ride's open, it's open for a reason.
Not always.
But like the big ones are going to have a point.
It's because someone's retiring.
But like if someone's, you're taking a spot that the driver's been let go, like it's for a reason.
Like you're not how many the likelihood of a a rally driver moving up and being put in a premier car is low.
Yeah.
Yeah, this day and age, absolutely.
You're correct on that.
But it is interesting that this sport is unlike the other sticking ball sports is you're not forced to go play quarterback for the Jets.
You know, you can wait around a little bit.
That's good.
It's good.
I got to wrap up.
I have other stuff to do.
I just wanted to talk about real quick,
Justin Algeyer, man,
I'll tell you what,
he must have a hell of a cheated-up car too.
He's locked his,
he's locked himself in the chase.
Breaking news.
Justin Al-Geyer has made the Xfinity chase.
He's 250 ahead.
250 up.
I mean, he's kicking ass.
you know, he's beating the competition.
It's clear that the junior
motorsports cars, in my mind,
are a little
above than the JGR cars,
but I mean, Sam Mayer had a great run, man.
He, he, I thought he was just as good as Justin,
if not better at the end of that race and just
didn't quite have the restart, you know,
that he needed, didn't get the push like, you know, he needed.
And so, um, again, he didn't really,
I thought he did a good,
job in his interview, you know, not throwing his teammate under the bus, understanding that everyone's
got to race their own race to try to win. I thought Sam Mayer really came a long way with his
interviews over the last few years by being respectful. And to me, I was more impressed with this
performance than his actual finish. I got a review here from Manatee. Back in August 2019, I went to
Bristol and saw Denny Wynn and beat his favorite driver. I cussed so damn much. I couldn't
stand him. Seven years later, I truly enjoy
seeing D.H. beat down.
He's giving the field every single week.
It was a good run.
Kick the feet up.
Kick the feet up.
Enjoy your...
If you got lawn or you've got to cut the grass,
