We are on tour. We're on our fourth show when this is being taped. And it's been great, dude. Thank you for the reminder that we're in Hershey.

That's tough. You know, you don't want to pull a Cody and go out on stage. What's up, Norfolk, when you're in Hershey, Pennsylvania. And by the way, it's Norfolk. Norfolk. It's Norfolk. I refuse to call it that. I refuse to call it that.

Well, we met some locals, and they said that I was saying it wrong. But, yeah, we started out the show this week in Charleston, South Carolina. Then we went to Greenville, South Carolina, Norfolk, Virginia. And now we are in Hershey, Pennsylvania. And I think it's pretty easy to tell that we're on the final show of the weekend. I'm sitting here with York. Yeah, Sparky can barely talk. I couldn't even get through the second half last night.

Yeah, last night, Sparky completely lost his voice mid-show. And Sparky's our emcee of the whole show. So he kind of makes the whole show flow. So there are some moments where people were like, what's happening right now? Sparky's up there talking, but you can't hear anything. Don't know sign language, unfortunately. I tried a little Rosetta Stone, 15-minute little sign-language class.

In between half-time, I didn't retain any of it. It. Sparks, you think you can hit them with what's coming up? Yeah, I think I can. All right. I think I'm capable. What have we got coming up today? T-tone, stopping by to talk about the DPUO outdoor video with his son.

I got to watch a little bit of it. It's emotional. It's a heart grabber. We'll also talk, of course, World Cup. That's going to the knockout round. I think it was time. We're all ready for World Cup, knockout round action. No more draws.

We'll also talk a little NHL and MLB NBA mixed in there. But first and foremost, we got to talk tour. Three shows deep of 22. And it's, I would say, I don't know, Garrett, you've been on a couple more tours than I have. Would you say that the first leg of tour with rehearsals kind of makes it the toughest? Yeah, I, yeah, because we have to get out here.

Some crew gets out here about five days before the first show, six, five, six. I was five. The dudes got a little bit better this year. We were able to come in a day later. And so we started rehearsals Tuesday. But yeah, that first day we did all the way through like, we almost went to midnight that day. It's what it takes. We also love to play golf.

You know, we do it to ourselves. We do it to ourselves. We could take it easy and rest. You're fresh off the course today. Yeah, yeah. He just booked it back over. But yeah, the first week's always tough. Getting acclimated to the bunks on the bus, the catering, just the different lifestyles.

It's a different speed out here. I think when people think tour, they think, like rock star lavish lifestyle. Man, I'm not saying we don't have it well. You know, glad there's catering. That's insane. We have our producer crawling on the floor. That's what I'm saying.

It's just different on tour. It's all hands on deck. A new home every night. But this year has been really cool. We completely changed. Revamp. Yeah, the format. And we do it.

So if you go watch a squad games video, we have one versus Savannah bananas, is good, good, W. Is that all we've done? That's right. Okay. Two in one. And it's just, it's the five of us.

So typically an old tour was actually the five of us competing against each other throughout the night and added a sprinkled in some overtime segments. This year we're a team competing against another team. So we had the Harlem Globetrotters out. Tonight we have a brand new team. We do. Ben Rothlessberger and Friends. Which includes Jeremy Camp and a professional archer named Levi Morgan.

Yeah. As well as his CPA and Stone Mace. There's some talent coming. But look, the people are asking, I don't want to sound like I'm bragging here, but the dude to Trino, this tour. All of them by the hair of our chin-in-chin. That doesn't matter.

We got the job. They put up a fight. I was telling my wife last night, I didn't know how this tour is going to go, and especially don't know how talent's going to go, outside talent's going to go, and you bring them into something that's, like, completely different from what they do.

I am beyond impressed with the Harlem Globe Trotters. Oh my goodness. They are like, blown away. They are just like salt of the earth people. Genuine thorough. Professionals. Very people. Super talented as well.

Incredibly talented. Entertainers. Yeah. I thought they brought it. I thought they brought it. I would do all 22 shows with the Harlem Gloverdolls. They were good. It's going to be a hard thing to match.

And not just that, but first night, whole new format. So many new people that we have to rehearse and practice through. And Garrett, I don't about you, but I would say, that was probably our best first night we've ever had from any four seasons. Typically, it's our second night that's our best. First is kind of like, again, like a rehearsal. A lot of kinks. And yeah, I thought it went out.

I mean, so far we, and again, these stagehands that come in are used to like a music concert. You push a speaker around, you know, that little bit of rigging. These people are being asked to push dump tanks across a floor, a fairerous wheel, and they're like, setting up inflatables. Yeah. So it's crazy. It's a, yeah, I mean, we don't, it's, I think there's over, if you add the day workers, I mean, it's got to be close to 150 people.

Yeah. That puts on this show. You walk into the venue and you look up at the start, it's like 7 a.m. And people are up there like birds in the rafters, man. Ringing all of the chain that's going to pull up the rigging, the truss work. There is so much that goes into a tour beyond what you see on the floor. And it takes a lot to prep, a lot of people. To me, it's kind of like the Egyptian pyramids because it's so far above my head that I just.

don't know how it happens, but I see the final product when I get around, and it's simply amazing. But to your point gear, Harlem Globetrotters, insanely cool. And not only that, I thought it was really cool that Ty does his ministry moment at the end. And they were all about it. They wanted to be there alongside with us. And that meant a lot too, you know, that showed their true character. Yeah, and, yeah, they just handle it so well. I'm not sure if the roles were flipped and, like, we go to a Harlem Globetrotter, I'm not sure like I'm jiving like they jived, you know? Like, they were just very, like, go with the flow.

So, hey, Kit, hats off to the Harlem Globetrotters. And I encourage people go check them out on tour because they're a ton of fun. Absolutely. So they play like 98 games a year. It's kind of wild. They'll have two groups going simultaneously across the sea and Europe while also in the States.

Yeah. I'm actually interested in post-show every night, Tyler has asked the question to the fans, which tour? Do you like this one or the overtime theme tour more? And I don't know if it's just the people in person there, but overwhelmingly it's been positive in terms of squad games. And I think it's because this is about as authentic dude perfect as it gets. We're going out there not knowing the outcome, not knowing exactly what we're getting into on a given night. And it's raw. I'm sure there's bumps and bruises along the way.

but I personally love that aspect of it and the fact that they're not fighting as much with each other because they're not battling against each other. We get to team up, so like team morale is good through the whole time. The morale is way high. Also, behind us here, we got a squad game tour exclusive merch. I feel like it's our best merch as well that we've ever done on tour. The numbers would say that so far.

The people are loving it. We got the jerseys. I should have wore my jersey. I think it's getting washed, and it needs to be. Hoodies, soccer journey for the World Cup. I mean, it's just like, girls' clothes shirts. No, not yet.

Not yet. By the way. You said girls last night, the girl power. Mikel shouted out, Ace, any ladies in the house night, and they went ballistic. Oh, they went ballistic. The girls love it. The girls love it. Yeah, have any favorite moments so far?

Favorite moments, oh, I mean, all three have been absolutely spectacular. I would say the Cody clutch up in, so we were down three to, to the Globetrotts. in game six and we do a slingshot showdown. I don't want to do too much. I don't want to ruin the show, but let's just say it was sudden death. And with one slingshot, we would have been done. And we went back and forth, back and forth.

I couldn't get it done. I mean, it was insane drama. And Cody, get bold, very bold move to say, hey, I'm taking out the captain, I'm taking out the right hander, we're going to the bullpen, and Cody clutched up. I hope the picture, we can get the picture on, but we did a Cody sandwich.

Oh, yeah, we did. just devouring Cody jumping. I was on the front. I mean, it was pure, just pure ecstasy in that moment, man, because it was relief because we were about to lose our first squad games of the year and somehow managed to get it across the finish. That's what keeps it wrong, man. I think that's what the fans see, they feel it.

You know, we ran some data from our previous tours, and fans said they love the battles of most segments. So we said, why not this year? Just juice them up. So we took squad games to a whole new level with crazy wild battles that you normally would not see. And Garrett had a really good point. That's a good point.

Garrett had a really good point that the adults maybe who are in the crowd who aren't as familiar with dude perfect. But you know your kids are safe doing that. They, I think, are thoroughly enjoying this. Because just like going to an NBA game or an NFL game, you don't know what's going to happen. The competition just speaks for itself. My favorite moment was Cody. What about you? You've been working so hard behind the scenes and stuff.

You could see a lot more of the good, bad, and ugly than we. Man, I would say that this tour. we have spent more internally at due perfect more time prepping for this tour than any in the past the magnitude of one the fabrications um all of the guests that we're bringing in because it's not just globe troopers and a few others it's every week it's changing once or twice that is a lot of coordination when you're more than quadrupling the talent pool um but just the r and d when you're doing big battles like this you can't just roll it out assuming it's going to work night one no it takes test and test and we actually did quite a few rehearsals back home so it's been a lot of work leading up to this point

And I'll say just the fact that night one went so well, very proud of the team of the 46 and TPR crew that bring this together from catering to rigors, stage hands, logistics with traveling, all that stuff, man. So many favorite friends. It was precise. But I would say my favorite moment, Sparking Gear would have to have been when Brandon Lake was playing with Ty to cap Night 1 with gratitude, a song of worship, fans in there with their phones, you know, raising hands, praise the Lord. That man was so soulful. There were people crying. It was emotional. I was crying like a baby.

Yeah, it was. Very special moment. That would be hard to beat. And just to really sell just how much movement there is, you went home to see the family and caught a flight this morning at 2.15 a.m. That's insane, man. The commitment levels, there's a lot of people who are invested in this and have to commit extra time.

And, yeah, it's been a special start. Least favor moment. It would probably be tie on the bus. Man, he has eaten triple dippers. Yes. I'm trying to hurry so I can go take a nap. Right. Not to set up. Yeah, dude, the bus just always struggled. Six tours now. I've never been able to sleep on the bus. And so when you're on that last stop from a leg

and you have a couple nights accumulated from the bus sleep, and you got golf again, again, I know I'm doing it to myself, but who's going to say no to golf? Right, right. Shall we talk some World Cup? Yeah, I think we should. It's time. Dude, let's actually talk about last night.

There's been some crazy moments in this World Cup. This World Cup just continues to provide magical moments. I'm not going to say there was collusion from Algeria and Uzbekistan? No. No, it was Austria. Algeria and Austria. I'm not going to say there's collusion. But let me set the stakes for the people that don't know.

If they tie, they're both in. Mm-hmm. If one team wins, the team who wins. wins is in, the team who loses is out, and Iran is in. I don't know if y'all watch that game, but it was back and forth. You literally go from, you literally go from a goal from Austria, equalizer, Algeria, and it back and forth. And then the in stoppage time, Algeria, Mares, the old man city player, just to have the winner at the death in stoppage time. He has the winner. Austria crushed Iran, elated.

The ref lets it go two, three minutes past stoppage time. They equalize and knock Iran out of the World Cup. Austria. And I mean, it's just been insane. Messy scoring a ton of goals. It feels like every time he gets a touch. He's putting it in the back of the net. He'll have 30 goals by the time.

This tournament's over. I would say the only downside to the expansion was to your point. A lot of these final games haven't held as much weight, and it's still been so spectacular. But I do like the old format. of the top two going through. So I even think a tiny bit more expansion, create a couple more groups, top two go again, because it makes that third game so much more meaningful,

more times than not. But yeah, it's been incredible. I just am at the point where, and sports watching is hard on tour. I feel like, I'm itching, man. I've got the scratches. But we've been able to watch quite a bit. But yeah, it's to the point of that tournament

where I'm ready to see a couple of these games go to 120, maybe a penalty spot. It's here, finally. What about USA, man? And I, the turkey lost, like, I was able to swipe it off. It's still, there's some lingering effects. It didn't affect, like, we were playing Bosnia regardless. Mm-hmm.

But the way they lost at the death, like, I don't think you're losing. Like, it wasn't like you were pounded the whole game and like. Actually, kind of performed better. Once I saw the lineup, the starting sheet, I was like, oh, you know, Turkey. They might win this by two goals or so. I'm not happy with, we got a favorable draw, so I can't complain too much. We got a favorable draw in the group stage. But boy, we did not get a.

favorable draw in the knockout stage. I mean, if things go to planned, we're playing Belgium Sound around the 16. If we get by Bosnia. Well, that's if Belgium gets by uh, scroll down a little bit.

Who is that? Is it Ghana? Senegal. Oh, see, and they're scary too. And they're scary too. So they're both top 10. That's no guarantee. And so then you got to go to Spain or Portugal,

you would guess. Because I think Portugal beats Croatia and I think Spain beats Austria. So let's say Spain. USA gets through Spain, and then you have to go through France to get to Messi, probably, in the finals. That's outrageous what you just said.

Just thinking of those powers, those soccer powers. I know every USA person here like, dude, or every soccer player's like, why are you even going past around this? My goal here is to get to the quarters. We both had that goal for Team USA. So the goal is to beat a Belgium or a single goal, and that to me is a successful World Cup.

Well, then you've got to get the second. the next one too. No, no, you have to beat Bosnia. And then you have to beat Belgium or Senegal. Then it's a we play with house money. We overperformed. We're in the top eight. Right.

If we lose in this round of 32 or if we lose in the round of 16. It's a letdown. I think it's a letdown by how much money you invest in the coach. The buzz. And it would feel like a very big missed opportunity for soccer to continue to grow here in the United States. So that's one of my favorite parts right now is there's a buzz that I haven't seen in the U.S. some time regarding soccer and it's so fun. And that's why I've been telling people, be easy on the newbies,

the ones who were just fresh to the game, learning the roles and stuff, be easy on them because we want to encourage, you know, U.S. soccer and the support. It's awesome to see how the teams are out of the country. I'm not sure, again, we had a relatively easier group. But again, Turkey and Australia are 22 in the world. Paraguay is no slouch either. They did really well in comedy bowl qualifying.

But Pulisic looks the part. He does. Man, he looks quick. He looks determined. He's making runs that just he has purpose to that. He's assertive, yes, assertive, yeah. That's what I was thinking. And it was good to see him come back as a sub.

That was a really good sign. And he was instant impact. I mean, he had those, he had that one little, like, he missed it, but the keeper had to knock it out of the corner. I mean, if Pulistic plays good and our back line can limit the shots, freeze is going to have to make some spectacular. He was saying. He hasn't got, I mean,

Poach knows ball way more than I do, so I'm foolish to even say this. But I would actually love to see Freeze back in between the pipes with that second team because I think he would have got tested. He would have. And I think he just needed that, you know. So, but Poach knows what he's doing.

So what's your, your hope is quarterfinal, of course. Yeah, my hope's Spain, quarterfinal, and you, look, you're playing with House Money. If you get the goal for Spain, Spain's had some games where they're, they haven't looked dominant, but they've had a couple games where they've, they've looked dominant.

Because they've struggled to score a little bit in this tournament. I mean, dude, look at these things. Like Mexico, Ecuador, you got England, Congo, Argentina, Cape Verde. Yeah, because shut out Cape Verde for making it out of group. Hey, how about this? If this keeper keeps messy from scoring, this 40-year-old keeper, give him the MVP. I don't care if he gets knocked out. This guy's electric.

Give me parades through the streets if he does that. But we got great games. So, hey, if you haven't watched any World Cup, it's okay. Now's when the World Cup starts. time. So start tuning in. That's going to be tough with your family or you've got to kind of set the scene. You're like, hey, I know I've been gone. You had them out though there in Charleston. Yeah, they were out. Yeah, because your in-laws live over there. So that was probably,

that's big brain move. Thinking ahead. Let's spend some family time on tour. So my Wednesday night's free. That's genius, care. Yeah, and we're going to war together. I mean, we, we're shooting up as well. Totally. You're saying something about just your, when it's red, white and blue in the USA crest on your chest, it just, the fandom exponentially jumps for me. You know, I'm proud to be an American. I know you're proud to be an American. We've set it on stage at Tour.

We're doing an almost athlete segment, so come check us out on tour. We do a live segment, and you have laid out the question, you know, any Team USA fans in the USA? And they've got wild, yeah. The Fourth of July, too, it just feels right. It shows you, like, why the World Cup is the biggest tournament in the world.

Like, the Euros are great. but man, the World Cup is just... It's undefeated. And I think the fact that you only get it once every four years makes it that much more savory. And I think FIFA, if you, you know, FIFA's a big listener to this pod.

Yeah, they are. I was going to talk directly to them. Look what the fans are saying, dude. They, it's the number one most viewed World Cup ever. Most attended too already. Or, sorry, most attended. The U.S. infrastructure is a big part of that,

but there was like people talking about the ticket sales. And then the Europeans are loving America. They're just thoroughly. Yeah, dude. They're loving. Shout out to the Americans, too. For being hospitable. Yeah, yeah, it's been great.

The feedback has been awesome. And I think, yeah, the way we've shown up, because there was a lot of talk of the resale market and ticket prices and some of these buildings are going to be empty. I mean, it's hard to find a seeded any game. Yeah. So really cool. Yeah, World Cup, man, I can't wait.

If you make the quarterfinal against Spain, I'm really happy. And then at that point, you just go for it. What do you have to lose at that point? Yeah, it was reminiscent of this Champions League that Poach took Tottenham to. Good call. That's a really good shout. He took him all the way to the title game, correct? Through the title game versus Chelsea. And look where Tottenham is today.

That just goes to show you how well-rounded his mastermind is. He is a mastermind. What do you think about his attire, Poach? It just looks like he's going to Big Bend to fish. Yeah, you know, he used to be the guy when he was with Tottenham. He used to be a blazer guy. Like he was kind of full suit. Now it's like...

Is that the American, like we Americanize him a little bit? I don't know, man. I think he just loves D-Toneman. see fishing or something. I'll tell you what, I might need to ask him to come on a outdoor shoot. Yeah, dude, that would be the greatest thing.

He gets knocked down and he's like, yeah, boys, well, before I take this AC Milan job, let me, hit me some deep sea fishing again. Oh,

it's been a joy. Yeah, I can't wait that the break and tour comes at a perfect time so we can watch. Also, dude, I forgot. I'm wearing it almost, I got a special hoodie made.

Yeah, should I get attached to on the pod, though? As we're talking, just have a guy just mark me up here. You have been down that route. I know your brother has some. I think it's kind of painful. What if it's a bad look for you? Dude, my friend of it actually has tattoo artists on staff, believe it or not.

Yeah, I know, Darcy, right? Yep. Yeah, I, uh, I've always wanted, uh, my brother. It's about saying. I didn't think Rick was giving income. My younger brother has a full sleeve and my older brother has a half sleeve. I just want a half. I think the art and the significance of the piece that you put on your body is, is really

cool and you could tell a story. I know moms out there and dads that are watching this are going to be maybe offended that. I said that. I'm not like endorsing tattoos for these kids. I'm just saying like... It's a person to person thing. Yeah. I grew up my whole life. And I kind of want one now. I'm by no means anti-tattoo. In fact, I've thought about it long and hard many of times. It's just I haven't found that one thing that I'm committed to that I'm like, yeah, I want to, I want to permanently put it on me. But if I ever do get to that point, I would be more than willing. It is. It's a big decision.

yeah. I love him as a player. I do. He, uh, I think he, uh, I think he grew this year. His first couple years in the NBA, it was kind of all about scoring. Lamelette flashy, taking some deep ones. And still kind of in that mode, a little bit of like flashy scoring, but like, I think Lemel

is a team player. I think it is going to work. I think when you're kind of stuck in Charlotte for a while, you just want to win at this point. Nas Reid went, right? Yep. Yeah, he's good. Oh, he's really good. He is like the prototypical 3-and-D stretch guy that you need on a team right now. He's one of those guys that people

forget about. He's so easy to play. with space is the floor uh they're gonna build their team around uh caniple men like uh and he's good he's good even coo great even coop highly endorsed him highly that's his boy but yeah he's special so that trade was good the other big one was yonnis to the heat um and the heat gave up to me quite a bit what was it Tyler hero and yakette yeah and uh three first round picks and a second round. Yeah, it looks like the bucks are playing the future game, the restart button, and hey, in today's NBA,

it's exactly how Oklahoma City built their team was. Hey, when it's going bad, go ahead and load up those draft picks, draft the right guy, and you can get back up to speed pretty quickly. Yeah, it's more. I think with them losing, you honest, it's the proper time to load up on the first round of draft picks.

We didn't even get to talk NBA draft. Yeah, we watched it together. We watched it together. We're at the restaurant and what. I was Charleston, right? We were in Charleston and we're Mavs fans, obviously, and we need a point guard. We need a word. We play horribly bad.

And we look at pick six or Mouser pick nine. And the two guys that I wanted as Adelaus was A-Cuff and Fleming's. And all we needed was one of those spots to be not them and were guaranteed one of them. and then 7-8-go. Bang-bang. A-Cuff, Fleming's. We actually know the CEO of the Atlanta Hawks. So that was tough because it felt like he just drafted him just to slide us a little bit.

And this is where, like, people are like, I can't stand tanking. I can't stand taking. The Dallas Mavericks won a meaningless final game of the regular season, and it switched them from the 7-seed to the 9-seed. And so that's why people tank right there, lost their guy based off a meaningless win at the end. And I'm not saying I like tanking, but I understand why the teams do it. And look, Cooper said they didn't tank this year.

They were trying to win. Sure. I think there was from the top, maybe. They were, you know, putting stipulations on minutes and stuff to do the J-Kids' year and whatnot. But yeah. Do you think any more big moves are going to happen? I do think now that the storm is clear draft-wise, I don't think the Mavs can afford to lose Kyrie Irving. We can't.

You just didn't get the guard play. And I think you have to try to win right now with Coop. Because the last thing you want to do for a kid who just is foreign to losing, you asked him, you know, about that on the pod. And he hates losing. He lost like four games his entire life. Life. And so, you know, the last thing you want to do is throw up a 25-win season,

30-win season, because then all of a sudden he's thinking, is this the right place for me? And that's the last thing you want. And Dusty May. Yeah. Yeah, in Michigan boy. I wonder how much, obviously, you probably had some pretty good say. You never know.

Is that a emotional pick, or is that a, I know something you don't, no pick. You know, like, is it a, like, is my guy? I have a sleeper, though, for the Mavs that they drafted late. Kid out of ECU. Toby LaWall, second highest vertical ever at the NBA draft combine, can absolutely fly. If you remember Derek Jones Jr., that's his player comp. We're just following. The biggest news in the NHL right now is what is the Dallas Stars going to do with Jason. J. Roberson. I don't know if this is true, but he turned down an eight-year, $15 million a year from Seattle.

Because he didn't want to play there? I would walk home from Hershey, Pennsylvania, and then walk right back without sleeping once for that kind of deal. Yeah, if I'm in, I would walk across. the country to sign the papers. That's a life-changing deal. In my undies. No shoes. And Larkin, too. Where's it going to be the destination for Larkin? Well, you heard Stevie, Stevie Y, right? He's not going to trade him. I don't think Larkin's going anywhere. Bad look by Larkin. Hey, let's a hashtag real talk right here to the people out there on sports teams, especially if you're on a professional sports team, making $8 million a year.

Let's be team players here. Like, let's not come out publicly and say I demand a trade. It's a bad look for your personality. And which team wants to play with that? right around the start of baseball season and I tried to be different you know I tried to be something that just doesn't pick the Dodgers. Yeah. And, you know, just the powerhouses. And just if we can find the clip, we'll play the clip. I think Boston's going to be pretty good this year.

And they give me, give me the Mets. But I picked the Boston Red Sox. Yep. And the New York Mets. Probably the biggest letdowns of each. Boston Red Sox lost their coach within like the first 25 games. And the Mets. Surprised it took this long air, to be honest.

Just fired their coach. Yeah, Mendoza's, going, going 34 and 47. And their lineup is too good for that. It's insane. Yeah, I know they've been battling injuries, especially in a sport where there's the, you know, the lack of salary cap. They have so much money. I can't, I can't believe. That just shows you how sports are hard to predict.

I mean, on paper, the Red So, a great team. Right. Clubhouse, you know, chemistry matters, too. So that's a big part of it. You know. So yeah. Anyways, that's really all we got for, oh, we got the fastest pitch.

Yeah, dude, the fastest pitch ever by a starting pitcher, Jacob Mizorowski. He's awesome on the show, by the way. I've just dealt with him for years. Where's he from? He comes down to high school, though? I'm sure he did probably being a baseball guy. 105.5.

Yeah. How are you doing in the standings currently? I think he's first. I'm leading the Stableford, the tour-long Staple. But Corey had a big day today. He, I think he picked up like 34 points. You know, when you pop on every hole. Yeah.

And you can squeak in a bird. Sparks, I didn't even tell you. He was chipping in. Yeah, it was ridiculous. He hit the pen again, too, on another one after you left. It's tough. The same Corey Cotton I know was pin seeking? Yeah.

Pen seeking. Okay. Yeah, it was wild. Shall we talk about the new outdoor video? Let's talk about it. Where Tyler took his son, Colton, who's six? He's now seven.

He was six and we filmed it. For his first turkey hunt. Probably not first turkey hunt, or was it his first? We tried last year one day, but we didn't see anything. So pretty much his first. Yeah. And it was special. So if you haven't watched it, go to YouTube, do Perfect Outdoors.

Check out that video. But dude, I thought it was, you know, you never know. It's just you and your son. Yep. There's not other guys to, like, lean into. Yep. Colton's gonna be a character one day, man. That guy has a personality.

He's a six-year-old that kind of operates like a 15-year-old at times, but then, you know, he has his... He's like doing like the dance when Ty smokes the hog right off the thing, you know. He was emoting. Yeah, he was emoting. He was like, you know, pushing the fish back in the cooler, saying a, you know, a graphic way to kill a snake. Do you grab a python? I will. You would?

I'll start gravity in the neck and start twisting. it until it breaks off. Oh my goodness. I don't care if it's bleeding on me or guts come out. I would just rip his neck until it cracks. I don't even know where he learns that kind of stuff. Yeah. He's feeding Luke. He was feeding Luke too.

He was feeding Luke. Yeah, he was taking care of his boys. He had to make sure his camera guys were fed. It was fun though. Yeah, like I feel like you never know how a video like that's going to go. That was kind of the first, I guess that was the first one without Jared and Josh. Yeah. And so we really didn't know how it would go, just the father-son aspect. But it turned out awesome.

Colton was he had been asking, I told him, or actually I asked him, hey, do you want to try and film your turkey hunt this year? And he was like, yes, I want to film it. I want to put it on the outdoor channel and watch it and all that stuff. And so this was probably four months before the season started. and I think every day he asked me how many sleeps until his turkey hunt. The problem was youth season, if we could have done it during the youth season, we had turkeys all over the place. They were there basically all day long.

But with our travel schedule and everything, we weren't able to go until basically the last weekend of the season up there. So it was tough hunting. There wasn't a ton of birds out there moving around or anything, but he was still jazz to wake up every single morning and go out there and get after it. Bethany kind of gave a hint on what weekend you hunted on. Oh, yeah.

What a power move, by the way. Yeah. Yeah. Yes, it was Mother's Day weekend, the last day of the hunt. Unfortunately, it was on Mother's Day, but that also just shows you how much she loves her Coltybug. When you get the son involved. Because he wanted to be out there on Mother's Day morning, and she said, yeah, y'all go for it. Yeah, you don't get that if it's just you.

Oh, no chance. No chance. He leaned on him. What's funny is Jared and Josh may be at a lot of. of a job because he took it, but you may be out of a wife. Yeah, that's crazy. Mike comes out your past. She was on board for Colty Bud going out there with me and doing it.

But yeah, it was fun, man. He was very tired after the first day, but what you don't see in the videos, we actually came back and hunted a few times or ended up being really, really slow. And we didn't see anything. And so I figured, like, after two or three times of waking up back home and driving out there to the ranch in the morning, not seeing anything, he's, he was. was like, okay, like, we'll just try next year or something like that. And I'm like, hey, you know, last weekend's coming up.

Do you want to try again or no? And he's like, yeah. Like, what time are we leaving? I'm like, all right, well. Would you say out of all the children you have, he's like the most gamer, like just down to do? I think so. I feel like it's still a little bit tough to tell at this age. Like, Rhett is asking me when his hunt's going to be.

Barrett's telling me he wants to film his bow hunt. And I'm like, you can't even shoot a bow yet. Like, so I think they're all into it. Colton has always been the most infatuated with, if I go out, he's calling me asking what I saw, what I got, wants to be there whenever I bring something back to the house. When it comes to youngsters, obviously they're wild, unpredictable, you know, the extra precautions taken. Any advice for parents who are trying to get their kids into the hunting scene, but maybe not wanting to, you know, throw too much info on them too early? Yeah. I mean, I really

tried not to like push the boys into doing anything that they don't want to do. Um, but I also remember like my dad being there when I was five years old and I got to like tag along on their deer trip, their deer hunt out to the lease. And I didn't really get to do anything other than sitting the blind. But like I, I loved being a part of that and feeling like an older kid even as like a five, six year old. And so I think getting like kids started, like especially into shooting and things like that. I started all three boys out with a crossbow. And I think that's like the best training tool at teaching a kid how to shoot because with shotguns and rifles and things like that, you've got not only the recoil with such a small like frame, like you're going to feel it. But then also

like that loud noise. Like it's really easy to develop bad shooting habits with just that loud sound and anticipating that. And so I started all three boys out on the crossbow. And it's great because there's no recoil, no sound, and you have that visual aid of like when you shoot an arrow, you shoot a target, and then you immediately get feedback of where it went. When you're shooting a shotgun or a rifle or something, it's a little bit tougher to tell. And then there's just that extra element of safety aspect to the crossbow, too, where it's like once it's fired, then you're good to go. You don't have to worry about anything like that.

So that's how I started all three boys, and then I let Colton and Barrett start shooting the 28-gauge, which is just a lighter gauge shotgun and trying to get them comfortable, like setting him up on a tripod is a great way to get him introduced to it. It's tough to, yeah, there's Colton dancing in the video. I mean, he was having the time of his life. But yeah, it was a ton of fun. I think I wanted it. I think I said it in the video,

but like I wanted him to have success, just I think in the hopes that he falls more and more in love with it, probably more than he did even. But it was emotional. Like even just in a little interview that I did talking about taking him out there. It's funny how when you get out there with just you and your son, you just realize like, I don't know, there's just something about like this is really all that matters is like being there for them, being able to spend time doing the things that they wanted to do. We didn't hunt long. Like we hunted early in the mornings and then we'd go hunting the evenings. And like during the day, I was like, dude, whatever you, like, you want to go fish, we'll go fish. You want to go shoot your BB gun. We'll go do that. And just kind of letting him dictate what the day looks like and trying to just make it as enjoyable for him and just be there to do whatever he wants to do.

Yeah, taking some duck photos. I mean, he was a sponge, man. You could tell just every little thing y'all were doing. He was just soaking it up. I have a question on that. Yeah. How young is too young to start your child into firearms? Do you think people would be surprised that a six-year-old can shoot?

Yeah, I mean, I think Colton's definitely on the young side. So I was seven years old when I shot my first year, and honestly, that was early. But I had grown up around it so much. I was shooting BB guns and stuff. like when I was five, and then my dad would take me out to the range and I got to shoot the 22, and it's just all about, like, gradual steps.

Like, as long as they can understand, I mean, gun safety is the biggest thing. Like, as long as they understand the safety and, like, the severity of what you're dealing with and you're introducing them, like, a little bit at a time, then I think it's great, as long as they want to do it. But, like, I wouldn't put a 12-gauge in a kid's hands and, like, expect them to go have any fun shooting skied

or targets or anything like that. And so, like, my approach with all three of my boys is just literally make it not only as safe as possible, but as fun as possible for them so that they enjoy it. They can learn all the safety and, like, healthy respect for firearms and things like that. But most importantly, they just enjoy it and they enjoy being outside and spending time with me. I thought one of the cooler parts was, like, definitely the nostalgia aspect for you. I could tell just knowing you so well that it was triggering memories for you from the past. and to pass that on to another generation,

and one day Colty Bud's going to pass that on to another generation. Do you feel a sense of responsibility almost in a way to raise them up that way? Now, granted, he's obviously into it, but now that he's into it, doing it the right way, having fun with it. Yeah, I mean, for me, like, as a kid growing up, you just think everybody grows up the same way that you do because you don't have that perspective of really anybody else other than yourself. Like your mindset is so small,

and all you know is your situation. And so as a kid, I just grew up thinking, man, everybody goes and plays sports and then they go to the ranch on the weekend and they do all this stuff. And so I just didn't realize how much that, like, shaped who I am today being out there growing up on a ranch and having my grandparents around all the time

and always being out there with my dad and my uncles and all of our family. Like, that was our place that we went to. And I don't know, I just think, like, growing up like that and knowing, how much that's meant to me. Like I truly believe that that's how little boys should grow up is out doing that kind of stuff

and working hard and sweating and being able to hunt and fish and get dirty and messy and all that stuff. And so I think it's just be able, it's cool for me to be able to give them that same experience that I had growing up. And like looking back, even picking up Colton from his football game,

my dad traveled all the time when I was a kid because I think probably for all five guys. Like we always struggle with that being gone a lot and not necessarily always being there, like as our kids grow up in this like pivotal time in their lives, and I look back on like when I was a kid and my dad had to travel most weeks for work. And it was week-long trips, whatever.

But the thing that I always remembered is that he was always at every single one of my sporting events. I don't know how he pulled it off, but Friday nights, even Tuesday night baseball games, he showed me that I was important, that I was loved, and I was cared for by being at the things that meant the most of me. And so, like for Colton right now,

that's being outside at the ranch and it is flagged football games. And it was just a really cool full circle moment to be able to pick him up from his game and then go straight to the ranch and that was what he wanted to do and he wanted to do it with me. A big win too.

What was the final? They shut him out. Yeah, unfortunately lost in the Super Bowl the next weekend, but had a good season, really good season. Actually leads me to my next question because, like, a loss in the Super Bowl for me as a kid, I'd be bawling.

Yeah. Detramental. no turkey at the end. Yeah. As a parent, how do you go about, you know, that, that, success? Yeah, how do you still sell it as a success? And like, you know what I'm saying.

Yeah, I mean, I think that was our kind of hesitation in filming the video in the first place because we knew it was late in the season. We knew it was going to be tough. There was a pretty good possibility that we did not get a turkey. Yeah. And so we go out and put all this time and effort

and energy into filming this video. And I think the more we did it, like the first two days, Like once we started filming, and I think I have even kind of fallen victim to this, just like watching so many outdoor shows and everything growing up, that you just kind of like lean the way of thinking like, okay, well, the video is only good if you have success and you get what you're going after. And like this video ended up being so little about the actual turkey hunt and more just about being with Colton. And it really didn't matter what we get. It didn't even matter if he shot a hog on the last hunt. Like myself and all the production guys, we're all totally fine with not walking away. way like with success. We even talked about titling the video like the unsuccessful, successful

turkey hunt just because like at the end of the day, that's what it's about is being outside with the people that you love and care about. And it really doesn't matter if you have success and what you're targeting or going after. Sleeping in the cabin. Yeah. Cooking. I mean, y'all were into it. Oh, you loved it. He wants to sleep in the cabin every night. We go down to the ranch. Like even now in the summer when it's 90 degrees, I'm like, bud, there's, we're not. We're going, we're sleeping in the house. When it gets cold again, we can sleep in the cabin. But he loved it. Somebody said earlier, it's like, you could tell, like, he, he was up in his age that day, because there's something about, like, being invited to the big kids table. We all had that

moment, you know, growing up. And to watch him really invest into it was so special. Easy to say that we got to have a rerun, right? We got to film the next time. I'm sure. Yeah, I mean, well, I think that's what the cool thing is, like, seeing the response from this video, and the success of it, like, makes me feel awesome because, like, part of the reason I even wanted to start doing this whole channel in the first place was I always look back on my hunts with my dad as a kid, and, like, I have a few video, like, old school video recordings of some of our stuff, and I'm like, man, I would give anything to have that stuff captured on footage and just those memories and everything. And so, like, Gair's taken Lincoln to Alaska in a few

months to go do the fly fishing trip in Alaska, which is going to be awesome. And I think this kind of opened the door for more videos like that where it's just that father's son dynamic and relationship that we can lean into. And it, again, it doesn't matter what you're doing. But the fact that you're out there doing it together is really what the video is about. I got to tell you this had so much range past just outdoors. This video watching it made me want to have a kid. Yeah. Yeah. Whoa. Wow. That's strong. For me, like when Bethany and I first got married and we talked about having kids, like the only thing I could think about was like, man, I hope I have a son one day that I can go share these experiences with in the outdoors, in the outdoors. And then little did I know I was going to have

three of them and now I've got to divide and conquer which trips I take them on. But I think I just knew how special that was to me as a kid, like when my dad invited me on the trip with the big boys and like how that made me feel. And being able to do that for my boys, I think, I totally understand that. I totally get that perspective. Is there like a golf aspect? You know, they always say like one pure iron shot kind of brings you back to the game. Yeah. I almost feel like he would be, Colton's going to be even more motivated now that you didn't get it across the finish line.

Yeah. Safe to say. Yeah, I mean, I think more often than not, you're not going to go get what you were going after. You know, the, whatever you're going after, you're not going to have success by, you know, the standard of did you get your bag limit or was it a successful? hunting. I mean, this last year I hunted up there in Sadler. I probably bow hunted for, I don't know, 12, 13, 14 days and didn't end up getting one of the bucks that I was going after. But again, there's just something about being outside, especially at sunrise. I feel like so few kids, like even Jackson's age, like so few kids have ever been out in the woods like when the world

wakes up. Oh, yeah. And hearing the birds start chirping and just seeing a sunrise and like sitting in a tree stand or a duck blind or whatever it is, like, there's just something about that that, like, I don't know, it just gives me life. I love, love being out there. I'm so thankful that my boys are into that and that I can share that with them. And I do think it's, feel somewhat like of a responsibility to be able to share that with a generation that maybe didn't have the opportunity to do some of that stuff or can be kind of enlightened or get interested, pique their interest in going and doing some of these things. Your fourth son was out there too. Luke behind the camera.

The boys love him, man. Yeah. How big has he been in all this, too? It's been great. And like the boys love him. Obviously, Colton's taking care of him while we're eating his backstrap. I don't think he really understands the whole like filming camera thing. And he's like, oh, yeah, Luke needs some too.

And he's behind the camera. But that was sweet. I think that was cool that you could kind of see a little glimpse of Colton's personality. He's like Mr. Mayor at school. And he knows not only the kids in his grade, but the kids all the way. through the school. I'm like, how do you know that kid? And he's like, he's my friend. And I'm like, he's in fifth grade. Like, what do you mean? He's your friend? And that's just, he's so, like, a friend to everybody, loves everybody. Uh, he's the sweetest kid. And so it was fun to be able to,

like, showcase a little bit of his personality. He definitely got the, like, older age up, feel like I'm trying to be part of the boys, but you definitely saw some of the six-year-old come out in the video with him. So what do we, uh, what do we have next for outdoors we got? What video's coming out? I think our next video is, Devil's River that we did with John B. Yeah. That place is insane. You got the, you got the, you got Nakona Ranch.

Yeah, and then we're trying to figure out if we're going to do spear fishing or the Axis deer and arrowheads. So we've got three videos in the tank right now. Devil's River Fishing Trip, which down in South Texas, that place is unbelievable. I mean, I can't wait to just see the footage

from that one. We went to Bandera, Texas, did an arrowhead dig, which was incredible, shot some Axis deer, got some good meat, from that one. And then, yeah, we just filmed the video with Grant Horvatt in the Bahamas. And that may be our best video, yeah.

Now they're, wow, that's got in crying. Y'all are crushing. Now that Colton's done his thing, put it on a show, do you have the other two boys kind of crawling on your backs? Oh, 100% I would do. Any ideas? What would we do with the other two? Not yet. We'll figure something out for sure. Colton told Bethany, whatever it was. The day before the video came out as he was going to bed, he was like, Mom, my turkey hunt comes out tomorrow and I'm going to be famous. Like, okay, well, there you go. Maybe not in it for all the right reasons, but, you know, we're going to have to work on that.

Dialing back, keep him humble. Do you all got a rant today? I was a little aggressive, Jared. I don't really have a rant. I just, you know, the bus toilet is leaking on my golf bag down below. We haven't confirmed if that's septic water. I sure hope not. I hope not, too, because I've used your towel.

Or I'm making, or I'm making the tour by me new club. I did kind of blast you. Me? Yeah, it just smells. Really? Oh, yeah, he did. He said. I laugh at it when it happened, so I can't really.

Did you tell him why it started? No, if you want to, though. Well, yeah, I'll have a rant. I don't know, maybe ripping in somebody's face when they're laying down in their bunk. Cody Jones. Disrespectful things I've ever seen in my life. Absolutely Pearl harbored me out of nowhere. It was cheeks to chin.

I'm not kidding. I didn't see it coming. And I was like, okay, you want a war. we'll go there, we'll play that game. He tickled the bear and the bear. The bear got gassy. But see, what happened is the bear doesn't care about his surroundings either. Well, it's a lot of collateral damage.

Yeah, bus doesn't smell the best. But, you know, when you order Chili's triple-differs and have that for dinner before you go to bed at 1230 at night in a morning, whatever you want to call it. Yeah, you're asking for it. You're asking for it. Well, dude, admittedly, as a guy who is not that passionate of a hunter growing up, a lot of people in my community and friends were, this one was probably my favorite video yet just because of the family dynamic. Yeah. It was awesome to see, man.

Yeah. I hope it's not the last. Yeah. Another fun fact about the video. So there was a bunch of comments on YouTube asking what the last song at the end of the video it was. And so that's actually Colton's great grandpa, my grandpa, was in a gospel quartet band. And that song was recorded in 1960. on a record, and that was the song that we played at the end of the video.

So that was kind of a cool little tie-in that you wouldn't really catch unless you knew what you were looking for. But that was a cool way for me personally to end it, too, was putting that song in there. I hope you have a good day, too. Jesus is one of the best lines of all the time.
