And as always, thank you.
I have a small story to share with you and your listeners that goes way back to when I was a little girl.
It's not the only story I have to tell, but this one is probably the scariest I have.
I've ever experienced.
I don't remember exactly how old I was, but I think I was just starting school or about to.
I grew up in the country with just a few neighbors.
I followed my big brother everywhere because I had nothing else to do.
There was no internet or game systems back then.
We didn't even have cable TV or a VCR.
When Blockbuster Video opened up, it was the best thing ever.
I loved and looked up to my big brother and followed him everywhere,
but he tried to ditch me every second he got.
Six years' age difference really stinks.
Our parents basically put him in charge of me when they were gone besides my grandparents.
Our only neighbors were my grandparents behind us,
my uncle next door, and a little later on,
some other neighbors that finally moved in on the other side of my uncle's house.
So, anyway, when I was four or five years old, I had my very first paranormal experience.
It is probably the scariest paranormal thing that has ever happened to me.
After it happened, I refused to sleep in my own bed for days and bugged my parents to sleep with them.
They didn't believe me and thought the whole thing was hilarious.
The house this happened in was torn down years ago, by the way, thankfully.
I called it the old White House
because it was white with black trimming.
I don't need to explain the whole layout of the house,
just know that my room,
the only one with ugly puke green walls,
for some ungodly reason someone thought that was a good idea,
and was located at the end of the hallway across from my parents' room.
I hated that room.
It was miserably hot in the summer with no AC.
So, one night,
like every other night after brushing my teeth,
I turned off my light and slid into bed at the far side of the room across from the door.
I always sleep on my side and settled on my right side first beneath my blanket,
with my back facing away from the wall.
I kept the door a little cracked because I was still afraid at the dark.
After a minute I got tired of that side and flipped over to my left side facing the wall.
Looking up at my wall, I expected just to see that.
What I saw instead caused me to freeze and stare.
I saw a solid black figure of a man with the top hat on his head,
about two feet above the edge of my bed and facing me.
But I couldn't see any features.
It was all just solid black and so real and close to me that I could have easily touched it.
Instantly, my young brain thought that it was.
was Abraham Lincoln, as silly as that sounds.
I remember my heart racing and I started shaking.
I screamed and scrambled out of my bed so fast
that I got tangled in my blanket falling to the floor.
I remember struggling to get up,
sure that at any second it would get me
and I took off to my parents' bedroom.
I woke them up and told them that I saw Abraham Lincoln
in my room at the edge of my bed.
my mom kind of stared at me in confusion and disbelief.
They did not believe me no matter how much I tried to convince them.
They let me stay with them for a few days until I finally got the courage to go back to my own bed again.
Those first few nights, I laid as far away from the wall as I could and stared at it until I fell asleep.
I'm sure now that what I saw was what people call a shadow figure,
and I feel better and validated that I'm not alone.
I've read a lot of other people's stories of shadow figures.
Many years later, my own kids have all said to me that they've seen shadow figures, and I believe them.
Those incidents all took place in another house.
A lot of stuff happened in that house, but those are stories for another time.
I left that place about three years ago and moved into my current.
home. Hey Raven, I've been listening to your podcast for quite some time now, and I decided to share a story that revolved around me, but I didn't go through what happened in this story. Note that this story is going to be from the perspective of my mom, as she is the main person in the story, but will be told by me. This all happened when I was almost one, but my mom remembers it in full detail.
This takes place back in 2008 when my mom was working at a tanning salon.
I was very young and didn't have a babysitter at the time,
so my mom just took me to work so she could watch over me.
My dad was working a different job and doing teacher internships at the time.
I was a happy toddler for the most part,
and I had blonde hair and blue eyes at this time.
Apparently that was rare in 2008, but back to the story.
I was always greeted with awes and compliments to me and my mom when she was working.
I guess that she was used to it at this point, since I was there a good amount of time.
One day when she was working, a lady came in and walked into the salon.
My mom said that she had black hair, was a little petite,
and that she looked Russian, almost, if that makes sense.
Anyway, she goes over to the desk, asks questions and whatnot,
than she notices me.
She compliments me and my mom talks to her a little bit
before heading out of the salon.
Nothing weird at all my mom thinks.
That's when she shows up the next day
and pays more attention to me than the day before.
My mom thinks it's suspicious but shrugs it off
as she does ask questions about tanning and whatnot
and this is where it goes from maybe to certain.
For the next few days that my mom works,
the same woman comes into the same.
salon. Pays all of her attention to me and just leaves. I know what you're probably wondering.
Did she get multiple tans done? Did she set up multiple appointments? Did she even set up a single
appointment or even get a tan? Unfortunately, I don't have the answers to those questions, but I'll
definitely see what my mom can remember in great detail. After a few days the same woman coming
into the store, my mom had two things going on in her head.
One, this woman is going to become irregular.
And two, this woman is sketchy in paying all of her attention to my son.
As you probably guessed, she walks into the salon and pays more attention to me.
She then turns to my mom with a questionable look and asks,
Can I take your son out to my car?
I want to show my husband how beautiful he is.
This confirms my mom's suspicions, and she stood in front of her with a defensive glare.
Hell no, you aren't taking him anywhere, you need to get out of here now.
A few more comments are thrown back and forth, and the woman exits the salon furiously.
By this point, my mom is shaken to her core and wonders what her intentions were to do with me.
After a few days, and my parents finally getting me a babysitter, she learns the true intentions of what the woman had planned,
but not in the way she could have imagined.
It's morning of the tanning salon she works at, and she's set to open the store that morning.
As she arrives, she notices a car pulling up in the parking lot of the tanning salon.
My mom thinks that it's no big deal and that it's probably somebody who wants to get a tan done early.
As she's unlocking the door to the store, the door of the unknown car opens and outwalks the woman who tried to kidnap me.
Not only that, but she is pissed off out of her mind.
and glaring at my mom with sick intentions.
My mom bolts in the door, locks it, and hides behind the front counter.
She is beyond scared by this point,
considering that she has not seen that woman in less than a week in the salon.
The woman approaches the door screaming at my mom and banging on the entrance.
I know you're in there.
I know you have him.
Let me in.
My mom couldn't breathe.
This woman was actively trying to get to me and was only entering the cellar.
lawn just to see me.
My mom, shaking and crying with fear, fumbles with her phone and calls 911.
She explains the situation to the operator the best she can while holding back tears and her fear.
All the while, the woman is intensely becoming more and more mad and violent.
I know he's in there.
I know you have him.
Let me in, were the phrases that she continued to scream at my mom as she was banging on the door
violently to enter.
She finishes her call with the police and calls her boss to explain what's going on.
Struck with fear and nervousness and pain, she lets out all of her emotion on her boss,
telling her that she's afraid, that she called the cops and that her suspicions were correct.
Her boss tells her to stay calm and wait for the police and to not do anything else.
As she's on the phone with her boss, she and the woman both hear faint sirens in the distance.
The woman runs away to get in her car as the police turned down the street where the salon is located.
She drives off and my mom can see police cars chasing after the woman.
This is where it gets crazy.
The woman led the police on a chase throughout the walking mall parking lot for five minutes.
During this time though, the police made sure my mom was safe and stayed with her in the store to protect her.
In case the woman tried to harm her, and they also called my father to explain
the situation. As the five minutes pass, they finally stop her by popping her tires, and they
stop the car. The police arrest the woman right then, and the husband as well who is the driver
of the car. A couple of minutes go by, they get arrested and they give my mom the all clear.
At this point, my mom is bulging tears from her eyes, not knowing what to think or what's to do
in this situation. The police ask her questions and she gives them some.
statements to what had just happened.
That's when she notices the car.
She walks towards the car and notices three passenger
seats in the back of the car.
As she looks around, she sees two kids next to police
officers asking them questions.
One was a girl who looked to be five or six
and had blonde hair and blue eyes.
The second one was a boy who looked to be no older than three
and also had blonde hair and blue eyes.
She looks back in the car
and she sees three car seats, but only two children.
That's when she realizes the middle one was made for a young toddler.
She's hit with a wave of realization and starts bawling her eyes out at the thought, sight, and emotion of what just happened.
Her boss and my dad both arrive at the scene to comfort her.
A couple minutes go by and she asks one of the officers if she can talk to the woman.
They say yes, but only for a few months.
minutes. She walks up to her, tears streaming from her eyes, and a rage of emotion going through
her head. I don't know what questions were asked, but one question sticks out so much that my mom can
still hear it to this day. What were you going to do with my son? My mom asked. No response.
What did you plan on doing with him? She responds in agony, trying to say sorry in her words.
I... I was...
I was going to sell him on the black market.
My mom's heart dropped.
She couldn't believe what she had done.
She let someone who had intentions to sell me, for God knows what,
hold me, and give me compliments.
She burst into tears and fell on her knees trying not to believe it.
She couldn't believe it.
All of her suspicions were true, but times ten.
minutes go by and I guess that they took the car,
took the woman and her husband to the sheriff's office and closed the store for the entire day.
My mom never heard anything about the two children,
but she had her suspicions on if they were really the woman's children or not.
I'm 17 now and about to enter my senior year of high school.
My mom always has a certain tone when describing this story to me
as this traumatized her tenfold.
I still wonder what would have happened if that woman actually got me.
I don't like to think about it much,
but I just say that I wouldn't live to tell the story.
If I had to give any message to future parents out there,
I would have three things to say.
One, trust your gut feeling if you feel suspicious about something.
Two, always be mindful of your children, no matter what the cost is.
3. Don't trust everyone you see, as some people could be nice at first, but have ill intentions to you, your family, or even worse, your kids.
Thank you for letting me tell this story as I did my best to recall what my mom told me.
I know it may be on the long side, but I assure everyone reading that this is a story to read.

2. I live in a rural area in North Carolina.
My mother lives a football field length away from my house in the back.
The first incident took place while I was terribly sick with a kidney infection.
I decided to camp out at my mother's house because I'm a big baby while sick,
and my 4-year-old at the time was with me while my mother was at work,
meaning no one but me and my child were at the house,
with a deadbolt locked at the front door,
and in the back a twist lock on the doorknob.
My mother has her TV positioned directly beside a window that lets in hell at daylight.
I had gotten up from bed to use the restroom and then returned to my bed.
That is, until I noticed a tall black figure run past the window.
It moved out of this world fast.
The window is perfectly off the ground outside to where anyone can walk up and look into the house easily.
The only person it could have been is my four-year-old.
I figured she used the back door and slid outside.
Being mad, I went out the front door yelling her name,
only to have her come from the back of a house up behind me,
claiming she'd been in the restroom.
She had not been outside.
I thought it was weird, but I let it go.
That is until my mother asked me if I'd noticed anything black running past her window outside.
I got sick in my stomach.
flipped. Seeing this thing got so normal that, while watching TV, my mother would say,
did you see it? Just to get confirmation that she wasn't seeing things, I found myself doing the same
thing. It always traveled from the front of the house to the back directly next to the house.
It all came to ahead the day my mother and I witnessed this thing stop in the middle of the window
and doubled back towards the front of the house. My heart had to be. My heart had to be. My heart had
my toes and jumped up when I noticed why it turned around.
A movement neither of us had seen before.
Because my four-year-old was outside playing in the front yard.
When I opened the front door, I saw my daughter about to round the corner of the house and
yelled for her.
My daughter and this thing would have collided together or did.
That part's unclear.
I asked her if anything weird happened and she was carefree.
After that, I decided to sage that.
house and outside the property. I will add that my family has been on this land forever
with no spooky happenings until now. After saging, it did return a good four to six months later.
We never saw it in the house, only running by the same window in the same direction. Other than the
day my daughter was outside playing, how did it know she was outside? Why haven't we seen this
thing until now. I had to sage the property a second time and everything's been quiet. Fingers crossed.
My story isn't terribly scary, but I assure you it's terribly real. Hello, Raven. I would like to share
my scary dating experience from the past decade. I had been in a relationship and married for 22 years.
As newly single for the first time in my adulthood, the dating scene surely has to be. The dating scene surely
had changed.
It was time to download Tinder and
start swiping.
Anyone who has gone through a breakup or
divorce knows how strange
it is to start over all the sudden.
I had just moved
to a small studio flat and I knew
none of my neighbors.
I went out quite often,
most likely to ease the loneliness.
One night,
I was in a bar with my friends.
They had never used
online dating apps, so
I decided to show how easy it is, especially for a female to hook up.
I went on Tinder, swiped, matched, exchanged a couple of messages, invited the match to meet up at the bar.
He messaged, 20 minutes, and I'll be there.
He was driving, so he declined to get into the bar for pints.
I wasn't smashed, just a couple of drinks in.
My friends stared at me in disbelief as I said my good book.
buys and left.
I met the date right in front of the bar,
noted he was in fact sober,
around my age,
and fit.
We exchanged compliments.
He seemed all right,
and we head off to my place,
like two adults hooking up would do.
Little did I know what was about to transpire.
After a while,
getting in the mood,
dancing cheek to cheek and taking our clothes off,
this adult male started to argue
that he does not believe in safe practices in adult activities.
For me, keeping my health priority, I argued he should leave.
I was, of course, a bit scared of the sudden turn in the situation,
but he was not acting aggressive towards me,
just stating that he would not leave until he has had me all naturally.
I noticed that he seemed all the sudden very drunk.
His speech was turning incoherent.
He was sober when we met, and we did not have any drinks at my place or as he was driving.
I thought, oh my gosh, has he taken some kind of illegal substance?
Him being high on something in me telling him to leave, he was about to exit the door in his birthday suit.
What should I do?
If I can't get him out, fully dressed, should I just leave the guy alone?
Let him pass out and sleep over at my place until he was in his right mind again.
I could call my closest friend and ask for a place to stay for the night.
My mind was racing.
But then I overcame my distress and decided that at this point it most likely would be better to just call the police.
He wasn't fit to drive home anyways.
The strange nude man seemed to act even stranger.
Not speaking anymore, just staring into oblivion and mumbling.
I decided it's best if I make the call.
to police from outside.
I told him to wait indoors
that I had to take the trash out
and then I called the local 911 operator.
I told them I needed the police
to take my trashy date out of my apartment.
Two policemen arrived in under 15 minutes.
I explained the situation
and they asked me to wait downstairs, outdoors.
It was chilly in October already
after midnight.
I heard the police going in,
exchanging words and then one of them came back out.
We need an ambulance.
Wait here, the policeman said.
I started to get freaked out.
What possibly could have happened in 15 minutes while I had been outside?
The ambulance came.
They run upstairs,
and very shortly I started hearing a loud groaning and moaning.
My date, crying, like an animal.
I heard one nosy neighbor opened their door
and asked the paramedics what's going on.
It's all under control, I heard the paramedic answer.
After what felt like an eternity, one of the policemen came down and gave me a status report.
Okay, so he had dangerously low blood sugar, hypoglycemia, as they say, and he had gone into insulin shock,
but the paramedics have now resuscitated him successfully.
He did hit his head and there is a pool of blood on your floor.
I was speechless.
However, I managed to ask what I should tell the neighbors about the awful noise in the middle of the night.
Just tell him it was a medical emergency and that you saved his life.
I had no idea.
He had not told me that he had any health issues.
I had never before seen someone go into insulin shock like that.
As the paramedics were done, they walked him out of my building.
He just waved goodbye and was again a bright and regular person.
I climbed back up and started cleaning the blood off my floor.
I had some time to reflect on what had just happened.
If I had left my apartment and left him staying there sleeping it off,
as I initially considered, he would have died overnight.
Some may be hoping that I never used Tinder again, but, nah, I did.
Just more responsibly.
That is actually how I later found my now husband.
And thank you to anyone listening.
I hope that you found my story, at least somewhat educational.
These are all of the strange things that have happened either directly to me,
to my mother, or both of us together.
We lived in a house built around 100 years ago with pine wood floors,
surrounded by farmland and forest.
One night I was in the bathtub and I heard the kitchen door shut,
then heavy footsteps leading from the door, through the kitchen and up the stairs.
The stairs are adjacent to the bathroom in that house, so I yelled out,
Hi, Dad, as I assumed it was him.
He worked at a ceramic factory and was required to wear steel-toed boots,
so he always had heavy-sounding footsteps throughout the house.
There was no answer, which was odd to me.
The footsteps continue up the stairs and into my parents,
bedroom. Then I hear my mother walking from the living room, through the kitchen, up the stairs,
and into her bedroom. And she says, hello? But nobody responded. After I finished my bath, I asked my
mom, did dad come home already? As he wasn't expected to be home until after I was in bed due to
working swing shifts. She was obviously creeped out and said, no, nobody's here but us. You heard that
too, right? Yeah, I said hi because I thought Dad was home. Strange, but that's just a minor
incident in comparison to some of the other happenings in that house. I won't get into detail here,
but there were many times my mother experienced sleep paralysis with an entity that pinned her
to the bed with its hands on her chest. Until one night she'd had enough and exclaimed to the
I'm really tired and I have to get up early and I really wish you would just leave me alone
Please please just let me sleep and from then on the strange things seem to have ceased
And yes I asked my mom for permission to tell these stories
I have a ton of ghost stories but I'll stick to the really strange ones
I have a ton of stories about my cousin's house that are very strange
One night, my parents and I were visiting with my cousins, with his parents.
We were kids at the time.
Our parents were in the kitchen playing poker, and my cousin and I were in the living room watching TV.
It was Christmas time, as there was still a decorated tree in the living room, coupled with the toy train around the bottom.
Out of the blue, the train starts going around the track on its own.
Nobody was near it when it started.
My dad went to shut it off and picked up the battery box,
and there weren't even any batteries in it.
How the heck is that even possible?
Needless to say, my cousin and I were pretty creeped out,
so we went upstairs to play in his bedroom.
A little while later, we hear a loud bang coming from the living room,
followed by both of our parents yelling our first and middle names.
A no-crap moment for a child.
So we go running down the steps and into the kitchen where our parents were,
and they were just looking at us all confused.
My uncle says,
You guys weren't in the living room?
We say, no, we were upstairs.
So him and my dad go into the living room and find a glass ashtray,
you know, the old kind that was really thick, glass, and kind of tinted brown.
Split exactly in half, and on opposite sides of the coffee table.
How in the actual hell does something like that happen?
Nothing fell onto it.
Nobody dropped it.
Nobody was even in the room.
They didn't have any pets either.
We left shortly after that.
That house had some seriously bad energy in it,
and that's not the half of it with that house from what I've heard.
But that wouldn't be my story to tell.
But thanks.
I just recently started listening on Spotify
and am very intrigued with the stories
and felt
compelled to share my own.
Hi Raven.
Almost eight years ago,
I bought a house in the suburbs
for my then 13-year-old daughter,
myself, and our Malta-Poo Lulu.
The house was in a great school district,
the one that I grew up in.
My ex-husband and her father
had not really been in our lives for a long time.
I really wanted to get my daughter into good schools
so that she would have a chance of getting into a good college.
As a single woman, living in the burbs, was not my idea of bliss.
I bought the house as part of an estate sale.
The house was being sold by the surviving children of the woman
who had owned it previously but had passed away.
At that time, I didn't know that she had passed away in the house.
We moved into the house in October of 2017.
I met a bunch of the neighbor ladies, and they were wonderful.
We're all still friends to this day.
As I normally do when I move into a new space,
I burned white candles in every room of the house,
leaving a window cracked so that if there were a spirit,
it could find its way out.
A little background, I've always been very intuitive.
I've had spirits reach out to me,
although I'm not really sure what they wanted.
generally I've told them that I didn't have anything to offer them and they should move on,
and usually they did.
We lived in the house for six or seven months, and I never noticed anything strange.
Then, one night, my next-door neighbor and I went out to have margaritas.
I don't drink a whole lot, but margaritas are something I do like.
On the way to the Mexican restaurant, my neighbors said they really missed.
Jean, the woman who lived in my house before me.
She said that she was the one who came into the house to check on Jean and found her
passed away in bed.
I said, her bed in my bedroom?
My neighbor thought that I knew that the previous owner had died in the house.
I did not.
It didn't seem like a huge deal to me.
In fact, I felt pretty happy for this lady that, although suffering with cancer, she got to
spend her last days in her own bed in her bedroom. I would want the same thing for myself.
Here's where it gets a little strange. The staircase to the second floor ends right outside my
bedroom door. This is one of those houses with the master on the first floor. The day after my
friend and I had gone out for margaritas, I got up early to let Lulu out. She sleeps with me. I'm a
Crone, don't judge me.
I got up and called her to jump off the bed like she did every morning.
She was very hesitant.
So I picked her up and carried her to the back door.
I slid open the slider and placed her on the kitchen floor.
She tore out of that house like the floor under her was on fire.
That was surprising to me because she doesn't usually have that much energy that early in the morning.
I turned around to make my coffee and glanced up the stairs.
At the top of the stairs, I could see a dark figure.
It was sort of a fact that I saw it, and it didn't really scare me.
It just sort of startled me.
For a moment, I thought it was my daughter.
I looked away, looked back, and it was gone.
I texted my daughter.
Yes, she was upstairs, and I was downstairs again.
Don't judge me.
She texted back and said,
I'm sleeping and I have 20 more minutes.
I asked her if she had been out of her room and she said,
No, leave me alone. I have 20 more minutes.
I got my coffee and went about my morning,
although I couldn't get Lulu to come back into the house.
I ended up picking her up and putting her in the kitchen.
She ran from the kitchen into my room and under the bed.
Something she's never done before.
I took my daughter to school and returned home.
I worked at home, so I powered up my computer and started my day.
I couldn't get past the feeling that I was being watched.
I kept looking over my shoulder, just a weird feeling.
Finally, I had the sense of dread deep in my stomach.
Suddenly my legs and arms and feet ached.
Somehow I knew that Jean was making her presence known.
I stood for my desk, looked up at the ceiling, and said,
Jean, I know this was your house and you loved it very much.
My daughter and I will also love it.
Thank you so much for letting us have this home.
We're going to love living here for a long time.
Just then, I felt fine.
Back to normal.
As ridiculous as it sounds, the sun came out of the clouds for the first time that day.
Lulu gingerly came out of my room.
she walked over and looked up at me.
I told her that everything was going to be fine.
I never saw any dark figures or shadows again.
I'm just kind of bummed that the white candles didn't work,
as they've always worked before.
I love your stories, Raven, and thank you so much for reading mine.
Hello, Raven.
I'm a 34-year-old male, but this story dates back to when I was about seven or eight.
I was raised in Central Virginia, but all of my mother's family lives in a small town in North Carolina.
It's not extremely small like the towns you see in a lot of country movies, but it's still small enough to where everybody pretty much knows everybody.
Back when I was seven or eight, myself, my sister, and my mom had to travel back to North Carolina because my great-grandmother had passed away.
considering the size of my mom's family by that age,
I've been to my fair share of funerals, so nothing was out of the ordinary,
at least not until later that night.
Because my family was so huge,
it was common that, rather than spending money on a hotel,
we would just stay at a relative's house whenever we visited.
The night after the funeral,
I decided to stay with my cousin because he had bunk beds,
and I preferred that over a couch.
So as I was laying in bed attempting to fall asleep,
I couldn't help but to think that I was being watched.
You know that feeling you get when someone is piercing their eyes
through your soul as a way to get your attention?
Yeah, that feeling.
Mind you, his bunk bed is against the wall,
and I was facing the wall as I laid down,
and his door was closed.
So I didn't really think that someone,
was behind me.
On top of that, my cousin
was in the dead of his sleep.
But because this feeling was
so intense, I felt the urge
to turn around to see if someone was
indeed there.
As I turned around, I saw what
appeared to be a bluish-white mist
just hovering and looking at me.
I saw what looked
like a head and shoulder shape
and the rest just
mist-like.
It was for no more than maybe tense,
seconds, and the more I looked at it trying to figure out what it was, the more terrified I
became. At this point, I just cried out from my mom, who was also staying the night.
Then my mom and my aunt came running in the room and asking what was wrong with me.
I couldn't bring myself to tell them why I was crying.
As a surprise to me, she actually remembered that exact night and her running into the room.
I believe this moment in my life is what has me infatuated with the paranormal,
this moment that I could not explain.
I was fully awake because I never even drifted off to sleep
because of the weird feeling I had of someone watching me.
I've had similar experiences as I've gotten older, which I may write about separately.
But one thing I always ask myself is,
was that my great-grandmother who simply came back to visit me?
I don't recall much of her, but she was really nice and had very long silky gray and black hair.
Whatever it was that night, it got me going down a rabbit hole ever since,
trying to figure out life after death and paranormal events.
And that's my story.
I'm not sure if it's quite paranormal, but I thought that that was the best description.
Hi, I live in Eugene, Oregon.
As you may know, there are many cryptic stories all over Oregon, especially in this part of Oregon.
I'm pretty sure that I live next to a portal.
The street that I live on is a quarter of a mile long, and you can feel the charge as soon as you turn on to my street.
Especially at night.
Okay, I rent a room in a house that my girlfriend and her boyfriend manage.
For some reason, when she and I are together at the house, or out and about,
All kinds of strange and creepy things happen.
Like the post office incident that I'm going to share with you now.
A few months ago, my girlfriend had to run to the post office to send a package to a friend.
Sounds easy and safe enough, right?
Nope.
Let me start by saying that it was after 9 p.m.,
but this particular post office is open 24 hours for drop-offs.
Anywho, she was telling me the last time she was at this location during the day.
day, she saw two ghosts at the door, and they were more surprised that she saw them.
Like, they didn't want to be discovered or something.
And as we pulled into the parking lot, oh yeah, this was my first time being at this particular
location, my neck hair pricked up, and I felt cold all through my body, and was instantly
anxious.
My friend was feeling the exact same way, and as she got out of the car to enter, I began saying,
protection mantras like imagining white light around her and asking Jesus to keep her safe.
And I was watching her the entire time.
Something I wouldn't normally do, by the way.
I watched her put her mail in the drop, turn around and take a step towards the door.
On her second step, I saw as her head snapped forward and she flew across the corridor.
There were no carpets or anything for her to trip on.
it literally looked like someone had shoved her hard.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to get out of the car and couldn't get the door to open,
and I was frantically trying to get the door open,
so that I could jump out and see if she needed any help.
By the time I got the door open, she was hobbling back to the car.
She had handprints on her upper right shoulder, and I took pictures.
Needless to say, she's no longer allowed to go to the car.
that post office at night, nor alone.
There was a kid named Johnny that lived down the road from where I grew up in the woods of
Midcoast, Maine.
Johnny was a great older than me, but he was friends with my older sister, so he always
treated me with respect.
Although he loved my sister, he hated my older brother, and was at least neutral, if not
positive, towards me.
I even walked over to his house a handful of times in my early teens to smoke
and play video games despite not knowing him all that well.
His mom was nice and offered me snacks,
but his dad seemed like a real hard ass,
barking criticisms of his son's lifestyle and general habits.
One thing I did know about Johnny is that he was severely bipolar.
However, he was correctly medicated,
and it seemed like he had a pretty good grip on the disorder.
The reason that Johnny and my sister knew each other
was because he was dating one of my sister's best friends,
who I'll refer to as M.
Johnny and M had been dating for several years,
but they were going through a rough patch
and eventually his intensity and possessive tendencies
grew too much for her to handle.
Despite Johnny's pleas and bargains for change,
M left him.
Johnny made numerous attempts to win M back over the next few weeks,
claiming that they were meant to be together and that he loved her.
But alas, she moved on with her life and started dating other people.
I went to a party at M's house after they broke up,
and she seemed like she was living her best life.
In stark contrast, one week after the party, M was dead.
The news reports claimed teenage girl found dead in home with no other.
their details.
The first report speculated as to whether M might have fallen from her third-story balcony,
as it was initially alleged to be a freak accident involving alcohol and gravity.
Over the next few days, my sister and her peers heartbrokenly mourned the death of their friend.
Among the most afflicted by the news of M's death was Johnny,
uncontrollably sobbing in between long bouts of outraged swearing, called by silent contemplation.
It was apparent just how much Johnny loved M, my sister told me.
My sister held Johnny as he wept and vice versa.
Two days after the informal friend wake, Johnny's face appeared on the news.
The headlines read, Local, Double Murder.
Turns out that M's death was no accident.
Police on the scene instantly clocked it as a horrific and gruesome murder scene
where she had been mutilated with the large knife.
The cops kept that information close to their vests
while the investigation was pending
so as to not spark the culprit to react in fight or flight.
During this multi-day silent investigation,
Johnny's dad stopped showing up to work.
When responsible parties came calling
as to the whereabouts of Johnny's dad,
his mother said he never came home after work a couple of nights prior.
He probably finally took off.
off for good like he always threatened, she explained away.
It wasn't long before the police showed up at Johnny's door, pinning him as the main suspect in
M's murder.
What the police didn't expect to find was Johnny's father's body in the basement, slashed to shreds
by a large knife.
Turns out, that after M broke up with Johnny, he stopped taking his meds and spiraled into
a jealous rage that boiled for weeks, until he finally drove to her.
house in the middle of the night, stabbed her dead, threw her body off the balcony, and then
proceeded to mutilate the body for a great deal of time. After killing him, Johnny drove home and
loudly entered his house covered in blood with the knife tucked into his belt. He was evidently
confronted by his awoken father in a blind fury. Johnny used the knife to end his father's
criticisms once and for all. The mother came downstairs to find her husband dead at the
hands of her blood-soaked son, and, in a panic, came up with a plan to help Johnny hide the
man's body in the basement. Johnny was an only child that suffered from severe mental illness
from a young age, which, I believe, is why his mother decided to become complicit in the hellish
act, instead of immediately calling the authorities like she should have. Johnny was brought to trial
on double murder charges, and he pled guilty. He received life in prison without the
possibility of parole given the brutal nature of the crimes.
My sister was asked to voluntarily testify against Johnny, but declined out of fear.
The day after Johnny had killed M and his dad with the same knife, he had kissed my sister on her cheek and cried in her arms.
My sister will never fully overcome the fact that she could have so easily been victim number three.
You see, Johnny always had a crush on my sister, but she never had a crush on my sister, but she never was.
reciprocated due to loyalty of her friend M.
So, for him to turn that evil jealous rage towards my sister would not have been a stretch.
Luckily for my family, it did not turn out that way.
I mentioned earlier that Johnny hated my older brother.
One time at a party, Johnny ran up to me, yelling,
Where's your brother? I'm going to slit his effing throat.
I told him that I didn't know where my brother was and brushed it off as drunk.
and BS, but in retrospect, I think Johnny was serious.
Johnny is still in prison today with no hopes of release.
I do still have friends that write happy birthday cards to Johnny once a year,
but my sister is not one of those friends.
My friend and neighbor lost her husband, Johnny, two years ago.
She's 88.
They had lived in that house for 65 years and had moved there two.
two months before she delivered her first son of two.
Needless to say, she had never spent a night without her husband, ever, and had married at the age of 20.
One night as she was lying in bed, she clearly heard him say,
Hey, little girl.
And another time as she sat in a chair at the kitchen table, he moved her whole body by gently scooting her chair a good distance back.
So, later on, I told her.
I would take her to her eye surgeon to perform a cataract operation.
I also agreed to stay the night so that I could guide her to the bathroom in the night
or whatever she needed, since she only has the operated eye, since the other is non-functioning
due to a prior stroke. I lay in the bed and she had one of those mattresses that you can't
feel a thing where the other person is lying so that it won't disturb you. Suddenly, I was really
disturbed. I think we're having an earthquake, I told her, but she couldn't feel it. Kentucky is
on the new Madrid fault line, so it was sure possible with quakes and volcanoes and tsunamis that we've had
lately. I asked if she had one of those vibrating beds. No. I do, and it allows you to sit up or down
at different angles or hit vibrate for a noisy massage. It did it three times, and each time she'd
said she didn't feel a thing.
Then, it hit me.
It was her husband thanking me for helping her.
I slept without incident for the rest of the night.
One other thing also happened in her bed.
One night she told me that she awoke and had gone into the bathroom.
After covering back up, she heard her mother say,
It's going to be really cold tonight.
Could you bring me an extra blanket?
Flabbergasted she said right out loud that, yes, she should.
sure would, and placed that blanket right on Johnny's side of her bed.
Just how many people are in that bed anyways.
I am now a veteran after 23 years in the Royal Navy, here in the UK.
In around the year 1999, I was invited with my young family to a barbecue by a co-worker.
I agreed, so I turned up the following Saturday with my wife, our two boys and daughter,
taking some beers and food.
The day went fine.
Drinks flowing, food and music was great,
and the kids were all entertained,
and were enjoying playing with the host's kids and many friends.
At the back fence was a large green area,
so most of the boys gravitated there
to play some variation of soccer, chase, or tag.
You get the idea.
Eventually everything wound down and people started heading off,
until there were very few kids left.
So the dads started stumbling around playing the same game with the boys left.
We lived on the opposite side of the road,
so there was no need to get a taxi or head home yet.
This all seems normal, right?
Well, around a month later, a news report broke
about a serial killer who had preyed on young boys
and who looked kind of familiar.
Apparently he'd been doing it for years,
and burying the bodies not just around the world,
but along the motorway between the base and his hometown.
He looked familiar,
because he was one of the last to leave the barbecue,
and the first to join in the games with the boys.
Luckily for my family, I suppose,
he preferred 18 to 20-year-old boys that he could control and manipulate.
My boys were only four and seven.
He was actually convicted for two,
but they suspect that he had around 20 victims, one being a girl.
And there were unsolved disappearances that coincided with his whereabouts and postings.
When I was a teenager, a long time ago in the late 80s,
me and my best friend at the time were hanging out at her apartment on March break.
We were trying to cast spells,
and just being dumb teenagers basically.
I thought that it would be funny to see what happened if we dialed 666 on the old landline phone,
fully expecting the phone to give us either your call cannot be completed as dialed recording,
or just nothing at all.
Instead, what we heard scared us so badly that we hung up immediately.
It was a moaning, screaming sort of noise,
and mixed with a squelchy, sticky sound.
Being a bit braver, I tried again to see if we got that same result, but this time I just got a fast, busy signal.
I didn't try it again. Screw that.
If I recall correctly, my friend grew up Catholic.
I think she might have been doing some hasty praying between the two calls.
I identify as atheist, but I still wonder what we got connected to on that phone call.
Hey there, friends.
enjoyed this collection of scary stories on this episode of the As the Raven Dreams podcast.
If the platform you're on has the option to follow podcast and you enjoyed my work,
please do consider doing so. Also, leaving ratings and reviews are super important for the
algorithm to support the growth of the podcast. I'm just one guy doing this. I don't have a team.
It's literally just me doing everything. So any support like that is
greatly appreciated. Never expected, though. So if you go above and beyond with that, I do appreciate it.
Some platforms also allow you to leave comments, and if you feel inclined to do so, please do. I would
appreciate that. I do have a Patreon in a merch store that you can also check out if you want to
support a little further. The Patreon side of things get you early access to all of my content.
It is formatted differently as it goes in line with what my YouTube channel is, but it is the same
stories, just different collections.
There is also a website as the ravendreams.com, where you can check out pretty much everything
about me, my social media platforms, fiction stories I've written if you want to read those,
as well as submitting your own stories, which there's a big button on the front page you
click to do so.
And those stories basically keep the podcast alive, to be honest with you.
So, yeah.
All that said, friends, I do hope that I see you again here very soon.
until then, remember that you are loved, that you are valid, that you are important.
You're the best you that you can be. Don't forget it. And until next time, much love and sleep well.
