Starting point is 00:01:04 Hey there, friends. How you doing today? Hopefully the answer to that is good. If not, maybe this will brighten your day just a little bit. I don't know. Maybe. Today we have a collection of Glitch and the Matrix stories. Now, this is technically the 100th episode of Glitch stories to go up here ever since I started doing the podcast in a more episodic form, which has been quite a while now, obviously.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Prior to this, there were glitch episodes. They just weren't like the current format of the podcast. I did things weird back when I started. I had no idea what I was doing. I tried, but, you know, it is what it is. We move forward, we live, and we learn. But because this is the 100th episode, uh, someone told me I needed to do something special.
Starting point is 00:01:54 I don't have anything special planned, but I will say this is a longer-than-normal-glitch episode instead of the normal 12-14 stories I do. It is closer to 7-9 is 16, and 7 is 23. It is 23, glitch in the Matrix stories, all mixed together. So, yeah. I know it's nothing too special, and I apologize for that. I didn't even think about the fact that I was coming up on the 100th episode over here,
Starting point is 00:02:21 so I should have thought on that, but, you know, It is what it is. Like I said, we live and we learn. Hopefully you all enjoy and hopefully you have a wonderful rest of your week. And I see you again here soon. But until then, my friends, much love and enjoy the glitchy goodness. Hi, Raven. First off, I wanted to say how much I love your stories.
Starting point is 00:02:52 I've been listening to your videos to fall asleep and they always do the trick. But on to the glitch. This literally just happened a couple of weeks ago. and it's still so funny and baffling to me. I had asked my grandmother to get me from school and drive me to Target so I could pick up a gift for my boyfriend. While shopping, I remembered Father's Day was in two weeks, so I decided to get my dad a little gift.
Starting point is 00:03:18 I found the perfect gift for him, a bright red and green hot sauce plushy in the middle of the stuffed animal aisle. Well, my dad loves hot sauce and plushes, so I bought it immediately. I got back into my grandpa's car and we started heading home. In the car, my grandpa started talking about how him and my grandma were going to move to another state, more than ten hours away, towards the end of the year. This information was so sudden and shocking to me that I started to cry.
Starting point is 00:03:51 My grandparents had only ever lived around five minutes away from me my entire life, so the realization that they were going to be gone soon was jarring, made me very emotional. I used my dad's gift to dry my tears because there were no tissues in the car, and it was soft enough to use against my face. My grandpa calmed me down saying how, since I'm going off to college soon anyways, I wouldn't even notice they were gone since they would be back for Christmas and summers, like me. That made me feel better, so I stopped my tears and asked my grandpa if I could drive
Starting point is 00:04:27 the rest of the way home. I'm making it my goal to get my license before college, and my grandpa always lets me practice in his car. This is where the glitch happens. I gently sat my father's day gift and the thing for my boyfriend in the back middle seat of the car and switched seats with my grandfather. Only he opens the driver's side door to get to the passenger seat while I climb over to the driver's seat still being in the car. Then I start my drive home. On the right home, my grandpa asked me what I got from Target. I explained him that it's in the back seat, but he says he doesn't see it.
Starting point is 00:05:07 He's pretty old, so he probably doesn't know what to look for, so I clarify saying, the red and green hot sauce plushy in the middle seat. My grandpa is still very confused, so I tell him I'll just show it to him when we get to my house. Meanwhile, I'm more confused wondering how he could miss something so obvious. It's such a strange plushy with obnoxious coloring that it would be hard to miss. Around two minutes later, I pull into my driveway and go get my stuff from the back seat. When I realize that the Father's Day hot sauce plush is nowhere to be found. Where it should be in the middle seat is just empty space and the gift I got for my boyfriend.
Starting point is 00:05:53 I start looking around the car frantically, when my grandpa suggests that maybe I left it at Target. I explained him that it couldn't be possible, as I remember drying my tears with it on the way home from Target because of him talking about the big move. Something clicked in his brain, and he realized that he had indeed seen it while I was crying. He also remembered that I had set it in the back seat when we switched spots in the car. So, together, me and my grandpa start searching the car for this gift. We checked under the seats, in the trunk, even in the little cup holders on the side of the car door. Everywhere, but we could not find it.
Starting point is 00:06:40 We get back into the car and drove back to the place where we had switched seats, because maybe it had fallen out of the car through the doors when we had switched. We looked all around the area and could not find it anywhere. I gave up at this point, and just drove back home telling my gosh, grandpa that I would go back to Target to buy a new one later. This whole thing confused me throughout the rest of the day. Again, I have to point out that this was a bright, red and green hot sauce plush, something very obscure with loud colors, extremely hard to miss.
Starting point is 00:07:18 I like to think of myself as a logical person, and the most logical thing that I could think could have happened was that the plush fell out of the car while my grandpa and I, were switching seats. But that would be nearly impossible. The plush was in the middle seat of the back, nowhere near any of the doors that opened. Also, if it had fallen out, either my grandpa or I would have definitely seen it on the ground, since, again, I'm emphasizing how hard this thing is to miss.
Starting point is 00:07:51 I might have chalked it up to me being crazy, and that I had never actually put it in the back of the car, but the assurance from my grandpa that he had indeed seen it in the back seat as well made me absolutely positive that it had to have been there. It's as if it had just vanished into thin air. I did eventually go back to Target to get another one of these plushies as a gift, and on my way home, I made sure not to take my eyes off of it once, just in case it disappeared again. Overall, this whole ordeal keeps confusing me more and more,
Starting point is 00:08:27 each day when I go over the events. But for now, I can only explain it as a glitch in the Matrix. Hey, I love your narrations. Personally, I struggle to believe in glitches in similar phenomenon. However, despite my reluctance, I experienced a small glitch that I can't just blame on a moment of distraction or poor short-term memory. I actually have a pretty good memory, although I'm aware of the limitation. we can all face when it comes to recalling things with total accuracy. I found someone's driver's license on a sidewalk with no one else around.
Starting point is 00:09:18 If someone dropped it, they were long gone. I was heading to the post office soon and know that if you lose your license or state ID in the U.S., the post office will mail it back for the owner and just charge the ID owner a small fee to cover postage. It's easy enough, so I grabbed it. I placed the license on the seat in my truck and looked at it more closely. It was a little damaged, bent and then bent back. I flipped it over and saw a Caucasian woman with light curly hair and a sunburnt face, looking back at me through the ID picture.
Starting point is 00:09:53 There was nothing else on the passenger seat. Instantly, I felt a wave of negative feelings when I reflected on the picture on the ID. The woman looked vaguely like a former co-worker who wasn't the greatest. but it's not like it was her. The negative thoughts and feelings toward this person and their ID didn't feel right or natural, almost as if they came from outside of my head. Internally, I combated them thinking to myself, You don't know this woman, she's not all these negative things,
Starting point is 00:10:26 and hopefully it'll help her out a lot to get this back. Hopefully this will save her a trip to the DMV and the replacement fees. Even so, I flipped the ID over, seeing again that slight crease on the back where it had been vent slightly and then flattened back into shape. Finally, after a few more errands, I get to the post office. I hadn't looked at the ID much or at all as I was focused on driving and getting a few more things done. I grabbed that ID off the passenger seat, and instead of a sunburned Caucasian lady, there's a completely different person. looking back at me. The woman in the photo was a different race, with lovely skin and a nice smile.
Starting point is 00:11:12 She was younger, too. I flipped the ID over, and it was devoid of the slight warping and discoloration from being bent and reshaped. It was pristine. I was so confused. I thought maybe I had picked up driver's licenses, and maybe one of them had fallen to the floor. I searched on the mat and under the seat and found. nothing. I gave the postal employee the license, and they said they would get it back to her. A few days later, I did an intense search of my vehicle and still came up empty. That original
Starting point is 00:11:47 ID was gone. How had I seen a completely different person? Why did my brain go all haywire and feel negative towards a person I didn't even know? How did I feel instantly relieved seeing the nice smile of the woman on the new ID. Thank you for reading this, and I hope it can validate anyone else who experiences any type of weird, negative, or external feeling thoughts prior to a glitch. If I'm the only one with that type of experience,
Starting point is 00:12:20 that's fine too. Hello again. I hope you and patients are doing well. I'm in a semi-permanent state of confusion now. It seems that every time I turn around, there are more glitches and Mandela effects happening to me. I don't have a theory yet about how glitches occur, except that maybe there's a general breakdown of reality,
Starting point is 00:12:54 be it all of reality or just mine. I quit drinking almost 20 years ago and don't partake in any substances that would cause a mental break. So I'm going with all the realities glitching out. Or maybe the barriers between, between the timelines are disintegrating. My experiences with Mandela effects have me leaning more toward quantum immortality as their cause. Maybe the two phenomena are connected somehow.
Starting point is 00:13:25 For instance, when something like a ring or necklace duplicates, the duplicate came from a different timeline just like people who survive fatal accidents, only to realize they're in a different but similar timeline. Some people claim to have simply gone to sleep and woken up in a different timeline. No accidents necessary. I've had too many close calls to count, and likewise too many MEs. Anywho, I'm just thinking out loud instead of telling you my most recent, personal, Mandela effect. My aunt lives about three hours away from me.
Starting point is 00:14:04 When they moved in about 25 years ago, I would visit them for days and sometimes weeks at a time. It's the perfect vacation spot if all you're interested in is peace and quiet and a dip in the pool. When they bought the place, there was a tree growing in the middle of the gravel driveway in front of the entrance to their garage. Since the four of them had five vehicles, they cut the tree out of the way. No one wanted to walk an extra 20 yards from their car to the deck after dark in wolf and bigfoot infested woodlands. When I visited in 2015, their daughter had moved and taken her car with her, but their son had bought three more, so their fleet had grown to seven, and they had extended
Starting point is 00:14:53 their parking lot another 30 yards out to the left of the driveway. Without the tree, there was a clear line of sight from the deck across the parking lot and down into the side. yard. Now, let me tell you, I have spent hours sitting on and around their deck watching nature. Deers, raccoons, owls, wolves, and nearly every other creature you can't imagine. No bigfoot, though. One day I watched a squirrel jump off of their two-story garage and belly flop in the driveway. It sounded like someone threw a bag of flower down on concrete, a hilarious mix of poof and thump. I laughed for 20 minutes straight, and then I had to show everyone his landing zone and laugh
Starting point is 00:15:39 even harder. He was fine, by the way. He hit the ground running and squirled off down the driveway. It didn't occur to me then, but as I'm writing this, I realized that if they hadn't cut the tree down, the squirrel would have landed in the tree. Maybe his reality showed him that the tree was still there when it actually wasn't. There was another tree on the side of the garage that would have been an easy climb down for him instead, of going airborne without a shoot. Anyways, fast forward to April of this year, I went for my first visit since 2015.
Starting point is 00:16:17 My aunt was driving, and when we pulled up to the garage, she had to drive around the tree that, in my previous timeline, had been cut down. Immediately I said, I thought you cut that tree down. And she said, no, it's always been there. I was so confused. I just said, huh, another Mandela effect, and left it at that. I can't and won't even try to explain it. The tree was there and then gone, and now it's back like it never went anywhere. Not to mention, it's grown to be taller than the garage.
Starting point is 00:16:57 and is so big that you have to do an extensive maneuvering to get around it and into the garage. Somehow, I don't think the word dumbfounded quite covers it. Honestly, I'm not even shocked at new worldwide Mandela effects anymore. I keep thinking about them a little while after they've brought to my attention, but then I just shrug them off. However, I'm probably spending an unhealthy amount of time, wondering how many quantum leaps I've made in my lifetime. Trying to pinpoint when each leap took place is a bottomless rapid hole that I actively avoid.
Starting point is 00:17:36 I also wonder how each jump has changed not only things around me, but me as well. If every decision one makes in their life branches off into a new, consequential timeline per choice, as I've heard it said, there are untold numbers of me out there doing things that I'm glad I decide. I decided not to do. I used to have a naughty little wild streak, and there aren't enough apologies to go around. Thank you for your time, Raven, and thank you, patience, for sharing his attention with us. I hope I never leap to a timeline in which you both made different decisions. Dear Raven, thank you for your glitch stories.
Starting point is 00:18:25 They really helped my insomnia. I'll document and send over other glitch stories, but this is from this morning. I live in a 125-year-old cottage on the West Coast. Although there's a heating unit in the living room, other spaces don't get the heat, so I've supplemented with three small space heaters. I found a well-priced model with good reviews, so they're all the same. Earlier this week, one of the heaters stopped working. The replacement unit arrived yesterday. This morning, I unboxed the new heater and was in the process.
Starting point is 00:19:02 of swapping them out. When I moved the old heater, I noticed the carpet beneath it was dusty and prepared to do a quick vacuum. As I took the old heater to place by the front door, I noticed there was already a heater sitting there. What the hell? I checked the other two heaters to see if I had moved one and forgotten. No. Then, I lined up all three heaters and took picks. Two were visibly used while one was still pristine.
Starting point is 00:19:32 I decided to test both of the used heaters, and they were both dead. When today began, I had one broken heater and one replacement. If a broken heater was sitting near the front door, I would have noticed. The Matrix blessed me with an additional broken heater. Dear Matrix, next time, could you just leave a bag of cash? Thank you. Long time, Fan Raven. You have a way of telling stories that just hits difference.
Starting point is 00:20:11 So thank you for doing what you do. Thank you for that. All right. I've been trying to convince myself that this is just a coincidence, that maybe I somehow made this happen. I listen to three podcasts religiously, you being one of them. Whenever I get the notification that one of you guys have put up something new,
Starting point is 00:20:33 I turn it on almost immediately. For the longest time, I believe I was in denial, I'm telling myself, you probably hit a button. You probably swiped your screen or something, your phone maybe just unlocked in your pocket. But after today, I don't believe this was my doing. I don't believe it's a coincidence, and I don't know what's going on,
Starting point is 00:20:56 but this glitch involves, well, you, Raven. This has happened so many times that I've lost count. I listen to your podcast when it's slow at work. Something about listening to Glitch in the Matrix, true crime, or any crazy ex-lover stories while I'm cleaning, is awfully soothing. I first noticed that this happened last year in 2024. I hear a familiar story, one I swear you've told before,
Starting point is 00:21:26 which I've told myself you do compilation stories sometimes, so maybe that's what's happening. But it happens again and again and again. It's the same story, every single time. It's when you first started putting things out as episodes. The first story about crazy ex-lovers. The person goes on to talk about how they went to a party, and were talking about wanting to get out of the state they were currently living in.
Starting point is 00:21:56 They ended up at a friend's giving, and they see a woman out on a porch reading. They thought it was weird that they were reading at a party. Cut two, they end up dating. and he eventually sees the red flags. Random gifts, which he didn't even know if she paid for, her jealousy and territorial behavior, until one day she snapped.
Starting point is 00:22:19 I've heard this story so many times I almost have it memorized. I could be listening to a different episode that you put out, and this story randomly finds its way in. It used to only happen a couple of times a month, but this last year, it's turned from monthly to weekly to, to almost every time I listened to your podcast. I went as far as getting a new phone, thinking my older model was glitching.
Starting point is 00:22:46 No, it still happens. It's not the freakiest thing to happen, but what happened on Saturday still has me confused. As I said before, I listened to three podcasts religiously. I was listening to one of the other podcasts, similar to you, they read subscriber stories. I was about halfway through this episode,
Starting point is 00:23:06 episode of the other podcast and then I heard your voice. I stopped in my tracks. I scrambled to get my phone out of my back pocket. It's still on my other podcast, not yours. Only that story from you was read and then it went back to the original reader's voice. I've gone back and listened to it again and nowhere in this podcast do I hear your voice again. I thought I was tired. I thought maybe I was going crazy.
Starting point is 00:23:36 Well, today I turned on one of your episodes, and I kid you not, the introduction to your episode was, Hey, Sam, thanks for coming back. I sat on my bathroom floor. I restarted my episode over and over again, and you never said that. It never came back, and I haven't heard it since this morning. I am not sure what's going on, and I don't know how to explain this. Maybe someone can help. Am I doing this somehow?
Starting point is 00:24:05 Am I maybe losing my mind? Well, that's my story. I hope you enjoyed it, and if anything weird happens again, I will update, but until then, sweet dreams. I don't do this normally, but I would like to add my two cents into this to some extent. Not really an opinion, more so just a bit of response.
Starting point is 00:24:28 That's weird. I've obviously never started an episode with Hello Sam, though hello Sam and I've obviously not used any crazy X stories in a multitude of episodes I try not to use stories more than twice at the most three times if I do a best of
Starting point is 00:24:49 but yeah that's that's bizarre I even went through some of my old crazy X stories I have on my spreadsheet and I can't seem to find that one even though I feel like I know what story you're talking about it wasn't on any of my crazy ex episodes. I mean, it was probably. I just can't find it.
Starting point is 00:25:12 I'm going to leave it like that, like that, because that's the easiest explanation, right? But I can't seem to find it in the list. Obviously, I have over five years worth of stories in this list, so it may just be missed by me, but that's weird. And Sam, I'm sorry that you're dealing with that. And, yeah. Anyways, thank you. Hi, Raven. First, thank you for reading my story, whether you narrate it or not.
Starting point is 00:25:49 I realize it's a little different than your normal content. I think you're great, and I love your empathy and compassion. Thank you very much. I hope to start my own show someday, and you are a huge inspiration. Aw. I'm not sure how to classify this story. I guess it depends on your beliefs. Maybe these experiences are synchronicities,
Starting point is 00:26:12 glitches may be paranormal, but please bear with me. My story needs some background. This is a story about a very special cat named Cinnamon Toast Crunch, which is a fantastic name. Sinney, for short. She came to us at age 14. She was bounced around through different households, and she'd recently lost her companion cat. She came to us sad and distressed, but, we were able to earn her trust within a month.
Starting point is 00:26:45 Sini had piercing green eyes, tortoise-shelf fur, short legs, a bob-tail, and a gloriously fuzzy belly that she enjoyed having rubbed every day. She'd flop on the floor and then roll around until she got her rubs. She wasn't much of a hunter, with the exception of crickets, which she would maim and leave for us. She waddled when she walked and it was hilarious when she got the Zumi. She slept on me every night and hung out with me on my desk while I worked all day. She became my best friend, the sweetest cats I've ever known. Wicked smart, emotionally intelligent, and so very beautiful.
Starting point is 00:27:28 She was with us through many big losses. The pandemic, she was like a little therapist, always there with a rumbly purr and unconditional love. I considered her a soulmate. Given her background, I always wanted her to know that this was her forever home. So every day I told her that I'd love her, always and forever. Sini became ill earlier this year. I cried for her the best I could, but we learned that she had cancer and our time with her was limited.
Starting point is 00:28:01 I kept her as comfortable as possible, and she tried so hard to stay, but she passed on June 10, 2025. My sincere condolences. I was with her looking into her eyes, gently petting her and telling her that I would love her, always and forever. I never dreamed that we would be blessed with six and a half years with her, and I'm so grateful that she made it to 20 years old with a good quality of life. I'm at peace because she had a full life and she's no longer in pain, but I miss her terribly.
Starting point is 00:28:33 And now, on to the stories. A few days after she crossed over, I was working at home and wanted a cup of tea. I headed to the kitchen, grabbed a cup, the white and red one that reads I love my cat, and went to the sink to fill it with water. Movement caught my eye, and I realized that there was a giant cricket in the sink. It was alive, but not well, kind of twitching around. So I put it out of its misery while thinking,
Starting point is 00:29:04 hmm, could that have been a gift from Cini? The next day was similar. I decided to make a cup of tea, and I kiddied. you not, there was another big cricket in the sink, alive but not well. This time I laughed out loud and said, thank you for the gifts, Sini. In hindsight, those were the first crickets I had seen all year. Usually we have some in the summer annoying us with their chirping, but I haven't heard a single chirp at all this year, so these were quite a surprise. But there's more. I like to Listen to scary stories all day while I work.
Starting point is 00:29:42 In addition to you, Raven, I listened to several other narrators and I switch around throughout the day. About a week after Cine passed, I randomly chose a podcast and started listening. A story came on about a home invasion. I listened as the story described how the submitter's dog saved the day. The dog's name? Cinnamon. The next day I was again working, I found a glitch-related. podcast and clicked play.
Starting point is 00:30:11 The narrator prefaced one story by saying that it was emotional. It was about a dog. The story described the person's relationship with this dog, how very special he was, all the way up until the moment he crossed over. Reading about the moment, the narrator's voice was heavy with emotion. After a momentary pause to collect himself, he read, I told him I would love him, always and forever. Cue the ugly tears.
Starting point is 00:30:40 I tried to gather myself as the next story started. I don't remember what the story was about because my attention was elsewhere. I just remember the moment with the narrator read, What the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I choose to believe that these coincidences were signs from CINI. I don't claim to know how they happen. Maybe our loved ones are able to tweak reality through quantum mechanics or simply guide us to where we need to be to receive their signs.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Regardless, I'm comforted knowing that Cini is okay, and she's with me in spirit. I know that we'll meet again. So, thanks for the signs, Cine Cat. I love you, always and forever. Hi, Raven. I discovered your podcast just a couple of months ago, and it quickly became a favorite on my daily commute. The way you tell stories makes the ordinary feel otherworldly, so thank you for that.
Starting point is 00:31:50 After a lot of thought, I decided it might be time to share a few of my own experiences. The story is not that long or scary, but I find it very intriguing and quite strange. I've always had unusually vivid dreams. Some are emotional, others downright unsettling. But what connects them is the way that some of them linger and leave me with this. certainty that it's real. I'm a deeply spiritual person and a Christian, and I truly believe there are things that we're not meant to fully understand
Starting point is 00:32:24 while we're living in this world. I'm going to tell you about two dreams that I've had that have sort of played into reality in a way that I couldn't have predicted at all. One of the strangest dreams I have ever had involved a woman that all called Jay. a long-time family friend of my now husband. To give you some background, Jay has struggled with her mental health for years. She's fragile, often deeply depressed, and has been known to manipulate my husband's parents, especially his mom.
Starting point is 00:32:59 If she didn't get a quick reply to a message, or couldn't spend time with them, she would spiral, sometimes calling in tears and saying that she was going to delete. herself. When his parents considered moving to the same province where my family lives, Jay would joke about relocating too. But it didn't feel like a joke. She even started looking at houses nearby. Since losing her husband to COVID, things have only worsened.
Starting point is 00:33:29 I hate how unfair she treats people around her, and to be honest, I myself don't like to mingle with her. My husband, then boyfriend, has always respected that and basically, basically only tolerates her for his parents' sake. And then came the first dream. I found myself in a white void, completely empty, soundless, and still. Off to one side were two dark, shadowy figures. In front of them stood a blonde woman.
Starting point is 00:34:00 She looked calm and sad, and she said, It's hard for her. She hasn't fully accepted it yet. Somehow in the dream, I knew this woman was Jay's sister. and that she was referring to Jay. There was no doubt in my mind. Just a deep, intuitive certainty. The weird thing is, I've never been told about a sister.
Starting point is 00:34:24 My partner's family has known her for years, and in the four years we've been dating, has also never mentioned it. I woke up feeling quite intrigued and almost heavy, like the grief I had felt in the dream was still hanging over me. I told my then boyfriend about it later that day, laughing nervously about the detail that Jay apparently had a sister. His reaction was not at all what I expected. You knew she had a sister?
Starting point is 00:34:54 He asked. She never talks about her. He went to find a photo on his phone, and when he showed it to me, my blood pretty much ran cold immediately. It was the woman for my dream. blonde, delicate, a bit petite, I would say, and unmistakable. I'm pretty sure she had blue or light green eyes, but I can't remember exactly. My partner explained that Jay's sister had died years ago in a horse riding accident. She never really spoke about it.
Starting point is 00:35:28 From that moment on, something shifted. I still struggled with how Jay treated the people around her, but I also saw her with a little more compassion. Somehow, I think I needed that dream to understand the depth of what she carried. She actually passed away due to a health issue that she had ignored about two years later, which is why I say carried in the past tense. The second experience happened more recently, involving someone much closer to me, my best friend.
Starting point is 00:36:04 In the dream, she looked pale and skeletal. Her eyes were hollow. She was almost anorexic and deathly. Now, in the dream, I remember specifically saying to her, You have to stop destroying yourself. It's going to be the end of you. I jolted awake, disturbed, and, quite honestly, concerned that it was some kind of warning.
Starting point is 00:36:30 I texted her almost immediately. Hey, are you okay? I had a weird dream about you. I specifically didn't go into too much detail at first. She replied within minutes. She told me that she had been going through a rough time mentally, especially struggling with her body image after gaining weight. I hadn't noticed, but I understood how much it was affecting her.
Starting point is 00:36:56 We talked about it. This was a while back, and she's doing much better now, and I was so glad that I reached out instead of brushing it off. I've had other dreams, but these two seem the most bizarre so far. I have other stories of different kinds that I will share, leaning more towards strange sightings and potential glitches in the Matrix, or something to that effect. Thank you for creating such a thoughtful space for these kinds of stories.
Starting point is 00:37:26 I truly believe that it does make people feel less alone in this strange world that we live in. Hi, Raven. I've been listening to you for a couple of years. I've wanted to submit a story for a while, but there are so many instances to choose from, some of which take a lot of explaining, and I only have my phone to type on these days.
Starting point is 00:37:58 Luckily, the universe sent me a very straightforward and very helpful glitch the other week that I would like to share with you. I recently bought two pet rats. They're the most energetic, exploratory, clumsy little rats I've ever owned. I have an old couch that I let my rats run around on for exercise. I've had this couch for at least 15 years. I've had four other rats in the last five years who are very happy running around on this couch
Starting point is 00:38:27 without ever falling off of it or getting lost inside of it. One of the new rats fell off of it twice in the first week, and it was a bit of a struggle coaxing her. out from underneath it. Because the couch is low to the ground and has two fold-out seats with lots of bars and material and stuff for her to hide in. Needless to say, I was watching her very carefully after that to make sure she didn't fall off again.
Starting point is 00:38:54 I have an old jumper on the couch for the rats to hide in, so they're nice and cozy and don't feel too exposed. I saw them go under there and assumed they were both sleeping. When I lifted up the jumper to put them back in their cage, there was only the one rat, the clumsy one was missing. I knew she hadn't fallen off again. I'd been watching the whole time because I was so paranoid about it. Of course, I checked under the couch anyway, and all around the rest of the room.
Starting point is 00:39:26 Nothing. Then I started feeling around the sewn-in cushion in the couch, thinking maybe she had chewed a hole into them or something. I should have heard that happening if that was the case, but I couldn't think of anything else. That's when I found a space in the corner of the couch, between the seat and the back, big enough to squeeze my hand into
Starting point is 00:39:47 and certainly big enough for a rat to explore. I stuck my hand in, felt around, and there she was. I carefully unfolded the seat thinking that she must have made her way to the bars and material underneath. No, she was inside the back of the couch, and I had no idea how to get her out of there. I didn't know the space was there,
Starting point is 00:40:12 or I would have been sure to block it off. Out of six rats in five years, she was the only one to find it. I would have just waited and hoped for her to come out on her own if it came to that, but I was panicking a bit in the moment and having visions of her chewing through the inside of the couch, getting beyond my reach, getting stuck,
Starting point is 00:40:34 and me having to cut her out. out of there. It's an old couch, but I like it, and I didn't want to have to do that. I also didn't want to risk hurting by rat by aggressively pulling her through the tight squeeze while she was still in reach. I went around the back of the couch to get an idea of how and where I even could cut into it if I had to. That's when I saw the Velcro at the bottom of it. The Velcro was holding down a flap of material. I lifted up the flap and there was my rat, sitting there looking at me. I didn't know that Velcro was there, that the flap was there,
Starting point is 00:41:11 that it was apparently designed for retrieving things dropped into the space between the cushions, into the space in the back of the couch, which I also didn't know was there. Did I mention I've had this couch for 15 years? I'm not the most observant person in the world, so I'm willing to accept that I just didn't notice any of these things. as unlikely as that seems. What I don't get, though, is how no other rat ever found that space, or why it didn't have anything else in it after all this time,
Starting point is 00:41:45 except for one inquisitive rat. No one ever sits at that end of the couch, so there's not much opportunity for anyone to drop anything down there, but no rat stuff. No food, tissues, droppings I missed cleaning up because I didn't know it was there. I checked the flat behind my own, fold-out seat, expecting a treasure trove of missing pens and jewelry. At the very least, I expected a lot of dry cereal, which I eat in that seat almost daily,
Starting point is 00:42:16 so I can share it with the rats. No pens, no jewelry, no cereal, just two little scraps of tissue I had used as earplugs, a crumpled ADHD pill capsule, and one fossilized rat dropping. It felt like such a small, deliberate, assortment of items. Like the Matrix saying, You know you're crazy. These spaces and easy access Velcro flap have been here the whole time.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Just look how old that stuff is. Now go take your medication and stop listening to your crazy thoughts, you crazy. Well, I probably am, but at least I got my rat back safely without having to cut open my couch. So, I'll definitely call this a win. Thanks, Universe. And thank you, Raven. for reading this. Hello, Raven.
Starting point is 00:43:17 I really enjoy your stories and your way of telling them. Thanks for reading all the weirdness that has happened to your audience, including me. Thank you to you all for sending in your stories. This time I'll tell you about something that happened a long time ago, back in the late 60s. It was a sunny day in early summer in a rural area of southeastern Norway. I was a first grader in elementary school. Me, my classmates and our teacher took a bus to get to an idealic, big pond with a long beach, where we could swim and play in the water and have a nice picnic in the grassy field beside the pond.
Starting point is 00:43:57 Everyone was happy that we got to get out of school, and enjoy the sunshine in the water. When we reached our destination, we got out of the bus, of course. To get to the pond, we had to cross the road, which was a very busy highway. Being the stupid little kid that I was, I forgot to look for cars and ran straight out into the traffic from right in front of the bus. I didn't see the huge truck filled with sand that came toward me, and frankly the driver had no chance of seeing me either. Everything happened very fast, and the truck hit me. The next thing I remember is that I flew up in the air, and the only thing I thought was, wow, I'm flying. Then the light went out.
Starting point is 00:44:44 I don't know how long I was out, but I woke up lying on my stomach in a field with straws in my mouth. I was totally confused and wondering why in the world I was lying there eating grass. Then there was a lot of commotion, of course. Our teacher and my classmates, as well as the bus driver and the truck driver, came running out in the field. And everyone looked very scared. I was at first confused at all of this, but at the same time I had a warm, nice, calm feeling inside of me, and I wondered why they made such a fuss. Then, I remembered that I was hit by a truck, but that didn't bring me out of balance,
Starting point is 00:45:28 and I thought the others had to understand that I was completely fine. Of course, that was not obvious at all to those who saw me being hit and flying through the air, but little me thought it was. Some of my classmates had run down to the pond where some of our parents, including my mother, waited for us. They had scared the crap out of her by telling her that her little girl had been run over by a truck. Poor mom, she must have believed that I was dead
Starting point is 00:45:56 and expected that all that was left to me was just a bloody and gooey mess. She, of course, ran up to where I was and thankfully could see that I was very much alive. I had a sprained wrist and a wound on my upper arm that was deep enough to reveal my skeleton, but other than that, I was fine. There was a first aid kit in the kiosk by the pond, and someone stopped the bleeding and put bandages on the arm in the wrist. No one thought of calling an ambulance or even driving me to a doctor, for some reason.
Starting point is 00:46:28 I guess they saw that I was all right. But Mom didn't let me swim, of course. I had to sit in the grass with her and remember getting a lot of eye. while the other kids were playing on the beach and swimming. I resented that because I'd been looking forward to this day and loved swimming. As if that wasn't bad enough, my brand-new red leather schoolback that I had carried when I was hit had taken a bad beating, and there was a big hole in it. Needless to say, I was not amused by how this day turned out.
Starting point is 00:47:03 Everyone told me that no one could believe how I had survived this accident. and that I should be grateful that I was alive, and that my bag may have saved my life. But gratitude was not within my range of emotions back then. The poor truck driver, who was actually a local man who knew my mother, was completely devastated that he had hit me, and he came to visit me at home a few days later to see how I was doing. I've been thinking about this accident many times since,
Starting point is 00:47:35 and I still wonder how this could have turned out so, well, and why I wasn't even scared. Someone might say that I had an angel guard, but I didn't see any angel or anything or anyone else, so just pure luck. But what exactly is luck? I have a hard time believing in coincidences, and luck fits into the same category. When you think about the odds of a small child running onto a busy highway, being hit by a heavy truck, flying through the air and falling down in a field without being killed or seriously
Starting point is 00:48:10 injured, that isn't something people would have put money on. Maybe it just wasn't my turn to die. Or maybe this was a possible time for me to withdraw from life that I, for some reason, didn't go through with. Or maybe I actually died in this timeline but switched to another. What do I know? All I can remember and still remember it vividly is flying, darkness, grass in my mouth, the side of blood and a big hole in my arm and on my school bag.
Starting point is 00:48:44 And I remember a peaceful feeling despite all the commotion around me. I don't remember any pain in the situation. I remember pain in the following days, though. But I cannot remember being scared or looking at this accident as any kind of trauma. It was something that just happened, as far as I'm concerned. This was just the first time that I was in an accident that could have been fatal. There have been more over the years, but that's a story for another time. Now, there is an expression.
Starting point is 00:49:18 You look like you've been hit by a truck. I guess I'm one of the few people who can answer back with, well, I was. This happened about five years ago, and to this day, I still don't have a logical. explanation. I've gone over it in my head a hundred times. Either I hallucinated something too complex to be a dream, or reality slipped for just a moment, and I saw behind the curtain. It was a Tuesday afternoon, late October.
Starting point is 00:49:59 I remember because the air smelled like damp leaves in the sky had that dull gray tint that tells you rains about to fall, but it never does. I was on my way home from work, Boring, usual route. I live in a mid-sized city, nothing special. I always cut through this residential area because it shaves ten minutes off of my commute. Same houses, same people walking dogs,
Starting point is 00:50:25 same rusted-out blue minivan that's been parked crooked in the same driveway for years. Except that day, something was off. As I turned on to this particular street, I noticed a man standing perfectly still at the edge of the edge of the same. sidewalk. Not unusual, right? But he was wearing a dark green trench coat, buttoned all the way up, a wide-brimmed hat, black gloves, like some noir detective from the 40s. He was so still that for a second I thought he was a mannequin. But he turned his head and looked directly at me, and here's where it got weird. When our eyes met, I felt this jolt.
Starting point is 00:51:10 Like static electricity crawling up my spine. Not fear, just wrongness. Like I wasn't supposed to see him. Like he wasn't supposed to be there. I slowed the car, not even on purpose. My brain just froze. Then he smiled. Not a friendly smile.
Starting point is 00:51:31 It looked practiced like he was imitating what he thought a smile should be. I remember his lips moved, but his eyes didn't. I drove past him slowly, watching the mirror. He didn't move, not an inch. 30 seconds later, I turned back around and drove back. Curiosity got the best of me, and he was gone. Just vanished. Now I know what you're thinking.
Starting point is 00:51:58 The guy probably walked away, right? Except every driveway had a clear line of sight. There's no alley, no side street, nowhere he could have ducked out of sight in less than 30. seconds. So I went home and tried to rationalize it, just shake it off, until three days later. That Friday I stopped by a small antique shop I like. It's tucked between a bookstore and a coffee shop downtown. Places cluttered, old clocks, rotary phones, vintage radios. As I'm browsing, I see a photo in a cracked leather frame, black and white. It looked like it was from the 1930s or the 40s.
Starting point is 00:52:40 I picked it up and froze. It was him. Same coat, same hat, same gloves, same blank, cold smile. He was standing next to an old car in front of a diner. The tag on the back said, Springfield, Illinois, 1941. I dropped the photo. The owner came over and looked at me like I was pale as a ghost, which I probably was, and asked if I was okay.
Starting point is 00:53:08 I didn't tell her anything, I just left. I didn't even buy the book that I had picked out. For weeks after that, I could not stop thinking about it. I would drive past the same sidewalk and glance around, but nothing. Never saw him again. But every once in a while, like every few months, I'll see something that makes my stomach drop. I swear I see a flicker of a green trench coat in a crowd
Starting point is 00:53:36 or a man standing too still in my peripheral vision. Or I'll hear jazz music faintly when no radio is on. I don't know who or what I saw, but I know this. He was real, and he was not from here, not from this time, and maybe not even from this reality. Hi, Raven. I'm a new listener to your podcast, and in particular the glitch in the Matrix Stories.
Starting point is 00:54:12 They've reminded me of glitches I've experienced throughout my childhood, and I thought I would share. The first one I can remember, I was around ten. I'd gone shopping for clothes with my mom and brother. We each picked out a pair of pajamas, got them, left, and went home. Later that night, we went into the shopping bags to get our pajamas, and they were completely different, completely different color, patterns, and graphics.
Starting point is 00:54:40 The three of us just kind of sat there extremely confused for a few moments, because none of us had gone through the bag prior to leaving the store, and eventually we all just forgot about it. Fast forward a few years later, I was around maybe 13. I woke up one morning, it was Saturday and no one was home, so it was up to me to walk my dogs. Now, I grew up in an apartment complex with one large backyard for the entire building. At the time, I had two dogs, both. have since passed on.
Starting point is 00:55:18 Only one of the dogs required a leash. The other one was well-trained enough where he was trusted to roam on his own, but I still always kept an eye on him. Anyway, we get to the backyard. I have the leash in my hand and the one dog is on it. He's doing his thing, and I'm watching my other dog run all the way around to the end of the backyard, maybe like 85 meters. I watched him stop, do his business, and continue to do his business, and continue to
Starting point is 00:55:45 to walk until he just faded away. I was extremely confused, and it didn't make sense, and I thought that I was imagining things, until I turned around, and there he was. My dog, sitting behind me, just chilling in the grass, there was no way he could have run back towards me and been behind me without me seeing. Fast forward to a few months later, and I'm spending the weekend at my dad's house.
Starting point is 00:56:13 I had realized I forgot my headphones at home. I was annoyed but decided to look around the house to find a pair to use until I went back home. I found a pair of white Sony headphones in a random drawer and used those for the weekend. Since I found those, I figured I would just continue to do so and leave them at my dad's house so that I had a pair there. I left them on my desk at my dad's house and went home. A few days later, my mom was doing laundry when she called me into the laundry room and told me to stop leaving headphones in my pockets. Confused, I told her that I didn't. And she proceeded to pull the headphones that I know for sure I left at my dad's out of my pant pocket.
Starting point is 00:57:00 And it was definitely those headphones. They were identical down to the faded yellow stain below the right earpiece, and the pants that she pulled them out of were jeans. and I hardly wore jeans. I know for a fact I didn't wear them at my dad's house. I eventually shrugged it off, took the headphones, and put them back on my desk at my house. The next weekend I was back at my dad's house, and there they are, the white headphones. Only, I left them back at my house. So out of nowhere, an identical pair just appeared.
Starting point is 00:57:37 But of course, when I went home later that weekend, the other pair was gone. So somewhere along the line a second pair just spawned and despond, I guess. Another significant occurrence was when I was like 14 or so. Me and my mom would watch one of our favorite shows together. One day we sat down, watched the next episode, and then both went to sleep. The next day we went to watch it again when she put on the same episode. And when I said we already watched it, she was confused and said that we hadn't. I then proceeded to say the lines of the characters before they were said and predicted what would happen,
Starting point is 00:58:18 because we already watched it, but she was adamant that we hadn't, and just shocked it up to deja vu. But I know we watched it. I again shrugged this off. About a year later, two more glitches happened on the same day. I got a phone call from one of my best friends regarding plans that we had made later in the day. where I was planning on sleeping over. Around five minutes into the conversation, I told him that I had to let my dogs out real quick,
Starting point is 00:58:50 and then feed them, and this is something that only takes me five minutes tops. When I got back to the phone, it said the call was ongoing for nine minutes. My friend, being confused, asked me what took so long. I told him I was only gone for five minutes, but he said that it was more like 15. He proceeded to tell me that,
Starting point is 00:59:11 His phone said the call had been going for 18 and a half minutes, and that it went to static while I was gone. We were both confused, and after a while we hung up, and I went over two hours later. Super late into the night, we decided to shoot some BB guns. We didn't want to wake his family, so we stayed on his back patio, and on the left side of the yard, as quietly as possible. After half an hour, we got bored and went back inside,
Starting point is 00:59:41 When I realized I left one of the mags to my BB gun outside on the patio table. Being too tired, I was just going to get it in the morning. The next morning we went outside and it was gone. We were confused and double-checked to make sure that no one else went outside to get it, and it was confirmed that no one else had. We searched the entire patio and left side of the yard that we were on. To our surprise, the mag was 60 minutes. away on the complete opposite side of the yard by some plans.
Starting point is 01:00:17 And it's not like the wind could have picked it up, because it was a calm night, and the mag was full of metal in around two pounds, so it was quite hefty. It's as if it teleported. All of these incidents occurred within the span of two years, and seemingly out of nowhere. That was the last one to occur, and was six years ago. I wonder from time to time if I'll experience another glitch in this lifetime. Hey Raven, love your channel. I thought I would post a couple of glitch stories.
Starting point is 01:00:59 Up until about a year ago, I never experienced any glitches but always wanted to. Be careful what you wish for, I guess. I'm really close with my mom and always have been. I love to hang out with her and we go shopping together a lot. We live in the middle of nowhere, Nebraska. so we usually have to drive a while to go shopping. My mom lives about an hour away, so I drive to her town. And then we get into her vehicle and continue on to whatever city we're going to.
Starting point is 01:01:33 I always bring my purse, just in case, but I leave it in the vehicle when we go into stores. I have my credit card and my wallet case in my phone. That way, I only need to carry my phone in my pocket. After a day of shopping, we were driving back home. Partway there, I reached into the back seat of the vehicle from the front passenger seat, where I was sitting, and grabbed my purse. I used the chapstick in there and then stuck it back on the floor in the back seat. When we got to my mom's house, we unloaded all of our shopping bags from the back seat and trunk
Starting point is 01:02:10 into her living room so that we could separate our stuff. I grabbed my stuff, loaded it into my car, and drove the rest of the way home. When I got everything into my apartment, I realized my purse wasn't there. It wasn't in the car, either. And I realized I never got it from my mom's vehicle. So I called her, and I told her that I left my purse there, but there really wasn't anything in there that I needed, so I would just grab it when I was up there next. She looked in her SUV, and it wasn't there.
Starting point is 01:02:47 Which makes sense, because we cleaned out the back seat and back trunk area when we brought everything in, and if either of us saw it, we would have grabbed it. It wasn't in her living room. She checked the whole house, and it wasn't anywhere. She said maybe I lost it, but I know that I had it on my way home when I grabbed my chapstick. We stopped once to get sodas at a gas station, but we locked the doors and I left my purse inside. And it couldn't have fallen out because it was on the floor in the back seat, and we were both in the front. I learned from your podcast, Raven, that sometimes if you ask the universe for your item back, you'll get it.
Starting point is 01:03:32 Even though I felt silly, I said out loud, Hey, Universe, I would really appreciate it if you would give me my purse back. I'm moving right now, so you could just drop it in one of the many boxes stacked in the corner if you wanted to. No luck. I'm completely unpacked and no purse. I think it's my mom's vehicle, though. The last time she came to visit, we got into her car and she said, I got you a cute pair of sweatpants that I saw.
Starting point is 01:04:01 They're in the back seat. I also brought a sweater that I bought as a gift, and, never ended up giving to someone, and I think it would fit Keith. It's also back there. I climbed into the back seat, and the sweatpants were there, but no sweater. She said that she put it in there, and we scoured the whole vehicle. She looked confused, but said that she would check it home. It's not anywhere at her house, either. So I think her vehicle swallows stuff and then spits it out into an alternate dimension or something.
Starting point is 01:04:35 It's a bit of a joke in the family now. I also have another super short glitch story. I was in my car about to head out of town one day. I was sitting at a stop sign about to turn left onto the highway. I looked left, and I saw a semi-truck coming. I turned and looked right, and the coast was clear, so I turned back to look left and wait for the semi to pass, and it was just gone. The time for me looking at the semi and turning back to it was maybe five seconds at most. There was no time for it to turn onto another road.
Starting point is 01:05:15 And even if it had, I could see all the possible turnoffs and it was not there. I sat there and I waited about ten seconds in case the magically disappearing semi decided to reappear in the same spot. And I didn't feel like getting teaboned by an invisible or reappearing semi truck. Those are the only two glitch stories that I've ever experienced, but they sure threw me for a loop. Hey, Raven, I hope you've been well in that the recent issues with YouTube ads hasn't been too strenuous to work out. It sounds exhausting and I hope it does work out. I got it mostly fixed, I think, for the most part. I decided to pick a story that is fairly recent.
Starting point is 01:06:24 A few weeks ago, I was at my mom's house to help go through the most insane amount of photos that was sent to her by her stepmother, since her father died some time ago. Grandpa was a sweet man who was the classic. I dropped out of school to help my family and then join the military. the era being when it was common for people to not finish school. Mom got emotional with some of the photos, and I asked about some that were there well before my time. I learned more about my grandpa,
Starting point is 01:06:56 and I wish I would have recorded more of his story when he was alive. As we were going through the mass amounts of photos, and my kids played on the switch, I came across several photos that caught my attention. In them, there was my grandpa, my grandma, my mom's stepmom, my mom and stepfather, and my brother, and also a girl with dark hair and a slightly faded dark, no-fear sweater. I couldn't place the girl, and based on some of the photos,
Starting point is 01:07:28 I knew that this was back when my family lived in Washington State, north of Seattle and Bellingham. I handed my mom the photos and asked where exactly they were taken. She said, oh, this was on one of the islands. Across the border in Canada, we took a ferry to a lighthouse. I then asked who the girl was. I know it hadn't been my brother's girlfriend, and my mom gave me a puzzled look. You don't remember the ferry ride in the lighthouse?
Starting point is 01:07:59 That's you. I looked at my mom confused. Now, for a bit of context, in the last ten years, my memory has changed, so there are a lot of things that I won't remember. It's because of a period of trauma that I went through around 10 years ago. Sometimes I won't remember happy events. I don't even remember prom. The only thing is, I can recognize myself in photos.
Starting point is 01:08:27 But not this time. That person in the photo is not me. It's someone else. I can't begin to explain how odd this made me feel. it isn't me. I recognize the sweater and that's about it. But anyone could have had it. The more I looked at the photo, the more it was like I was looking at someone else who took my place in a moment in time that I have no memory of.
Starting point is 01:08:55 I would have been 15 at the time that the photos were taken. Generally, I don't 100% believe in glitches or time slips and what have you, because memory can be tricky, and that's been proven. But this was just too weird. That person is not me. In the end, my mom realized that my comments from the last few years about my memory having changed seemed more real to her, but not recognizing myself in a set of photos amongst all the others is an entirely different thing. So, is it another me or someone else? It bothers me so much.
Starting point is 01:09:36 By the way, I know that I just aged myself with the no-fearst sweater, as that was a big shirtline back in the day. These days, I feel like there's something up with my cats. Well, I can't call all of them my cats. They're basically strays, but they spend most of their time either in my house or my neighbors. There are three cats who visit us the most often. Two of them are boys, and one is a girl. One of the boy cats is orange and white in color, but mostly orange, so let's just call him orange. Another boy cat is gray and white, so we'll call him gray.
Starting point is 01:10:25 The girl cat is also orange and white, but looks completely different than the boy orange cat. She has more white fur, and she's slim in contrast to the orange who's a chunky guy. Let's call the girl cat shrimp, because that's the literal English translation of her name in my language. The first time I noticed something weird was one weekday. My dad had left for work, and Orange was sitting in his synthesizer, something my dad would never have allowed. It wasn't my problem, so I ignored him. I forgot something and had to go back in Dad's room, and if my sense of time isn't too distorted, it had not even been one minute.
Starting point is 01:11:06 This time when I looked, it was shrimp on the synthesizer. I got confused but considered the possibility that shrimp might have won over the spot while I was away, so Orange should be nearby. In his favorite place, other than my room, is our terrace. I checked the stairs, the terrace, all the rooms on that floor, also my room, even though my door was shut. I asked Mom who was on the ground floor about Orange, and she said that he's been sunbathing in the lawn for a good half an hour now.
Starting point is 01:11:40 I was totally baffled. There is no way I would take shrimp for orange or otherwise. Their faces, their bodies, fur, voice, eyes, sex, everything is different. The day went by and I eventually just forgot about it. The next time it happened, I was totally sure that I was not imagining things because I would never get confused between shrimp and gray. They have completely distinct voices. Gray has a raspy, low, broken voice, while shrimp has a high-pitched, melodious yet annoying voice.
Starting point is 01:12:19 I was calling Gray as it was his lunchtime. Generally, he would come on his own, but he hasn't been doing very well lately. He has a persistent cold for a few weeks now. So, I made an effort to find him and take the food to him. I heard him upstairs the same discontinue. continuous meowing, and also sneezing. The other cats don't really sneeze. So I walked upstairs with his bull following his meows.
Starting point is 01:12:48 As I reached the last stare, I saw the end of his tail, which is almost a blackish gray, and it disappeared as he walked into a room. I ran after him, and the moment that I turned to enter the room, I saw shrimp loitering around. She meowed at me a few times. I kept listening to her meows. No, nothing similar to what I was hearing before. But the room's a dead end. I was standing at the only door.
Starting point is 01:13:19 Then my mom shouted from downstairs. She was scolding me for not giving our sick Gray food at the time. And when I peaked down, I saw Gray rubbing his ears on my mom's leg and looking at the empty spot where his food bowl is usually kept. I felt goosebumps on my eyes. arm. I don't know whether it was because of the fact that my cats could teleport or because I was losing my mind. One more thing. I don't know if it's related or if I'm reading too much into it,
Starting point is 01:13:50 but one of the dogs in our neighborhood has started howling often. It might have his personal reasons, but who knows, I don't speak dogs. And another dog which used to threaten and chase shrimp, looks like he's suddenly scared of her. I don't have a little. I don't have. I don't have. I don't understand what's going on among them, but something does feel strange. Hello, long-time listener, first-time submitter here. I love how you tell the stories. It always gives me something interesting to listen to while I work. Well, thank you.
Starting point is 01:14:32 I've been contemplating sharing other stories on here and always tell myself they aren't interesting enough. But this one just happened for the third time, so I figured I would share. Around March of 2024, I got to be a lot of two to see. I got the first of these calls. It was a collect call from a prison in my home state. I assumed it was my older brother, whom I cut contact with. I'm sure you can guess why, as my first thought was him in prison.
Starting point is 01:15:01 Out of a sense of sympathy and I suppose still wanting the relationship that we once shared back, I decided to answer. To my surprise, it was a person I didn't recognize. neither their name nor their voice sounded familiar. Apparently my contact was in his phone and not recognizing my name he decided to call and confirm if he actually knew me or not. Obviously, we didn't, so he deleted my contact. Okay, strange. But I was sure there was some explanation for it.
Starting point is 01:15:35 Until several months later, it happened again, this time from a prison in Minnesota. I almost didn't answer as I found it strange. But I remembered my friend who moved there. While it would be strange for him to be in trouble with the law, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and answer. Once again, however, I was met with a similar situation as the first call. Different name and voice, but yet again, someone whom I've never met. At that point, I was weirded out, but still trying to make excuses for the strangeness. However, just now, I got the third call of its kind, this time from a prison in my current state.
Starting point is 01:16:18 Again, I answered thinking, could a friend have gotten into trouble? There's no way. But decided to answer because now I had to know. Yet again, it was someone I've never met. They didn't recognize me, nor I them. At this point, the only explanation I could think of is maybe a parallel me is at least really into the bad boy type, and giving our number out to everyone, if not into causing chaos herself. And for some reason, everyone she seems to share our number with in that world reflects into the
Starting point is 01:16:53 phone version of them here. I like to call myself a skeptical believer, so if anyone has other theories as to what is happening, I'm all ears. But the fact it's happening three times is very strange. If you found this one interesting and want to hear some of my other stories, like about the ghost cat or the Spanish male opera singing ghost, or even just some of my creepy encounters with the living, please let me know. For me, it's just my day-to-day pretty much, but if you find them interesting, I'm happy to share. Please do. Hi, Raven. Samurai Jack here. Let me first state that I have a great time on your live streams. Shout out to patience as well, and anime. That's someone that usually joins the live streams.
Starting point is 01:17:50 Her username is anime Otemey. So, I have a short story, plus a few questions for your audience. First, the story. When I was a kid, I read a magazine called Zoo Books. It was for young readers to learn all about animals. Well, anyway, I had a draft magazine, and I used to read them under my grandparents' bed. Still, to this day, I don't know why I read them there, but I did. My grandparents lived in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Starting point is 01:18:25 I live in Rhode Island. It's a two-and-a-half-hour drive. I ended up forgetting my magazine. I went into my room when I got home, and to my pure astonishment, the magazine was sitting in the middle of my bed. How did it get there? Did it teleport? Halions? To this day, I have no clue.
Starting point is 01:18:46 And part two. Over the past five years, I've had some pretty interesting things happen. I don't know anyone that has had these happen to them. And it's still happening. One, ten and a half months of YouTube unexpectedly quitting two times a day. Here's the important part of this. Eight other adults live in this building. Not one person has had YouTube quit working on them.
Starting point is 01:19:11 Not even one time, so why does it single me out? 2. For two months, every time I got or made a call, I had to watch an ad from YouTube. What does YouTube have to do with checking your text messages or phone calls? 3. I have a DVD player that only plays 2. I mean one less than 3 and one more than 1. 2. Just 2 DVDs. 2. I don't get it. Am I cursed with that? 4. I had an MP3. player and I put 1,308 songs on it.
Starting point is 01:19:49 I did the whole procedure to unhook it properly and then plugged into my car, and there were zero. Just zero. How? How did they just disappear? And now the things I'm experiencing right now, as Raven's audience hears this, I can like a video or a short, and you know how when you like a video it turns white? Not for me.
Starting point is 01:20:13 It acts like I don't even press it. So now I have to talk. turn off my phone completely and then it works, but as Raven narrates this, I'm up to two times doing this a day. Help. Why does this keep happening? I would feel better if I had an explanation, but so far nobody can explain it, and I'm sure there will be more. Thank you, Raven, thank you patience, stay well, everyone, get snug, and as Raven says, sleep well. Hi, Raven, I've been listening for a long time, and I've wanted to put in a few stories, because God knows I have some good ones. But this recent glitch has me seriously disturbed to the point that I'm finally submitting.
Starting point is 01:21:03 I have two, but I'll tell you about the one that is messing with my mind first. I moved back in with my parents after a breakup, and that is when I met their neighbor that's just two houses down, and his dog. We'll call the dog Sam. My dog absolutely adores, for the story we'll call the guy John, John's dog so much that every time we ran into each other, which is like every morning, they would play and get tangled up. Now, this is where the glitch has happened. I remember Sam's tail, or should I say lack thereof, because of his breed. Sam is an Australian shepherd mix, small dog. and I remember noticing he had no tail
Starting point is 01:21:49 and it stuck with me because I'm like, why would they do that? A few weeks back, my mom and I were walking the dog and we thought that we saw John and his dog Sam. But then my mom said, no, no, that's not Sam, that dog has a tail. So, today, I'm driving to get a coffee in the morning and I see John and Sam. And it took me a minute for it to click, but Sam had a tail. Now, I know what you guys are thinking. It must have been someone else, or he was walking someone else's dog.
Starting point is 01:22:23 No, it was them, I swear. Sam is a unique-looking dog, and, well, so is John. Unique-looking, not a dog. So I'm thinking about it all the way home, and I ask my mom if Sam has a tail, and she said no. So anyways, our neighbor's dog suddenly has a tail, and it's messing with my mind. Another glitch, this happened back in 2019. My ex and I went to Cuba and I brought my favorite necklace that he bought me. It was for his friend's wedding, so that's why I brought such a meaningful and expensive item.
Starting point is 01:23:01 Anyways, when we were packing to go home, I triple-checked my suitcase and everything was in there. Fast forward to when we get home and I'm unpacking and I cannot find that necklace. It was in a special spot in the suitcase, and it was zipped up and locked. Me and my ex ripped apart that suitcase and our apartment. It was gone. About a year later, we break up, and I move back in with my parents, and then maybe about a month or two after the breakup, I'm going through my suitcase. I honestly can't remember why.
Starting point is 01:23:36 I reach into the place where I had put my necklace, and I felt something in there, a plastic bag. I didn't think much of it until I pulled it out. In my hand was the necklace that I thought was gone, the one that he and I ripped apart everything looking for. I was so stunned. I ended up texting my ex and telling him, slash confirming that we couldn't find it. He confirmed it, and we were both just blown away. Those are my only two glitch in the Matrix stories. I'll give you some paranormal ones.
Starting point is 01:24:10 Thank you for what you do. you've calmed my mind on many occasions and love from Canada. This was a few years ago. My mom was dating this guy who lived a few hours away from us. We went to mom's house every other weekend for custody agreements. We had just been driving like a normal day. Me and my sister, three years older than me, were in the back seat. As we go into the next town, I tell my mom,
Starting point is 01:24:46 hey, I thought we were supposed to go through Chile, a town. She was confused because we were supposed to be in Chile, but we were in the next town. I had no idea how this happened. I was looking out the window, and I would have noticed if we were in the town. I grabbed my mom's phone to look up this town, and there was no evidence that ever existed. I was super confused by this point. I knew that this town existed. I put the phone down and went into my own thoughts.
Starting point is 01:25:17 After the weekend was over, we went through the town, and I was concerned. confused because I was thinking about what had happened all weekend. The town kind of just disappeared. This occurred a lot afterwards. We still talk about it. Was this just a glitch, or do we go through the town without noticing it? I really don't know what happened exactly. So I submitted a story about these woods before.
Starting point is 01:25:54 It was the one where I picked up an arrowhead that I found, and my parents' house ended up haunted temporarily. If you remember me now, howdy. If you don't, well, buckle in. I would like to preface this by saying, as a child, I had an absolutely amazing sense of direction. This was before the time of GPS, and I didn't have a mobile phone. I always thought this woods was normal,
Starting point is 01:26:20 but I was sitting there talking to my husband and showing him where I used to walk in the woods on Google. maps and I realized this. It doesn't exactly connect as I remember. And I walked this path so many times that I know exactly where I was and where I was going. You would think maybe I would just not be able to see it on Google Maps, but I remember the area is huge and the sky is open. So you would definitely be able to see it. That and Google Maps hasn't updated my hometown in 13 plus years.
Starting point is 01:26:57 Also, in addition to having a great sense of direction, I knew which way I was going because, after all, I needed to know how to get home. So here's the trail. Every two weeks, or once a month, I would walk this route. I start the walk by taking the trail between my parent's yard and my neighbor Pam's yard that cuts through the woods. I would stop at Patricia's house, say hi to her and her sweet Rottweiler pup named Logan. The rest of the trail was down a gravel paved road by her house that goes into the same woods. But it's less of a trail at this point and more of a dirt bike path. Gotta stay on the trail or wear long pants in the Midwest unless you want to end up with poison ivy,
Starting point is 01:27:45 poison oak, or poison sumac. If you know, you know. So eventually the trail becomes more of a walking path, but it's clearly cut out by people. It was a mostly straight trail that only curved slightly around an abandoned shed. Spooky story about this thing coming soon. Eventually, you would come across a creek. It was never more than a few inches deep, and I could easily get across it. The trail then curves to the left and down a hill after this, and then continues on for a while.
Starting point is 01:28:20 Briefly, before I arrived to this area with mounds of rocks, construction materials, it turns back to the right. This area was clearly right below the road my parents would take on their way back from our grandparents' house when they wanted to go through the nearly non-existent town named Tennessee, that neighbored my hometown. Now here's the kicker. Apparently there's no woods in the areas that I walked.
Starting point is 01:28:47 I can definitely find exactly where I went monthly, but the thing is, how exactly did I get there? There's no way that I could have ended up there. You would assume that maybe they just cut down some trees, but as I said, the map hasn't been updated in 13 years. You thought I was done? Well, guess again. There's another story that connects to this one.
Starting point is 01:29:11 So, as I mentioned, I took the trail monthly, if not more. One day I wanted to take my friend Sarah to the spot so we could chill and discuss things my parent wouldn't allow us to discuss at home. witchcraft and stuff. And I took the trail exactly, but this time I couldn't find it. It wasn't there. At that age, I assumed I had taken a wrong turn somewhere
Starting point is 01:29:36 and retracted my steps, but I couldn't find it. So, I guess my questions are, 1. How did I get there? 2. Why couldn't I find it when I wanted to take Sarah there? And three, is this a stable portal thingy in my parents' woods? I don't understand, and I'm not going to pretend that I understand. And I acknowledge that I probably sound absolutely insane, but I know what I experienced, and I want to know if anyone else has experienced it.
Starting point is 01:30:11 I promise if I ever go back there, I'll update if I find it again. And I'll definitely map out the trail. Apparently the woods in my parents' backyard is... Weirder than I thought. So, this story may be disturbing to some, but I'm going to start this story off with how I warped into a time loop, where I got stuck for a week or two. So one afternoon on September 23rd, 2021, around the time the CERN particle accelerator was fired up at 12 o'clock or something, I swear I felt something was off. because I was able to control the electricity, like the kind of Wi-Fi gives off, or something.
Starting point is 01:31:04 Anyways, long story short, I felt very uneasy. I tried to walk off this feeling of non-belonging to this reality, and as I walked about my door, the same car passed by twice, with the same person driving, back to back. I found it very uncomfortable and unsettling, so I decided to walk into town to notice, that things were different, signs that were never there before. I thought to myself, since when did we have a barber shop in this small town?
Starting point is 01:31:35 It had never been there before. As I thought to myself, it was, again, unsettling. I said, something is wrong here. Upon walking through my small town, I noticed that a tattoo parlor apparently appeared out of nowhere. Again, I was thinking of how unsettling it was, that the names of the buildings were old memory, or thoughts. I started to get freaked out and then probably did something that no one should have done. I asked for what year we were in.
Starting point is 01:32:05 I believe, unfortunately, that I have broken fragments of the universe, as things are still like this time to time. Random buildings or signs appear that come from my thoughts or experiences, and it's creepy. Hi, Bestie. Hello, I don't think I've ever had anyone call me Bestie. I've been really enjoying your videos lately. Thank you for helping exercise my brain. Thank you for listening.
Starting point is 01:32:40 My husband works long hours at his job. He's supposed to be done by 3 p.m. every day, but many, many times it's much later. I'm a teacher and also have two kids. So when I get home from work, I'm absolutely pooped. It was probably 8.30 to 9 p.m. and he came home. He walked in the door, put his lunchbox down, grabbed a beer, and took his shoes off, his nightly routine. After he took his shoes off and put them back, he came and stood right by the TV and started telling me about his day. He does this every single night.
Starting point is 01:33:20 He never sits on the couch, he always stands in that spot and starts talking. I vividly remember him telling me a story from his day. He works for the railroad and always has the craziest stories, but I'll spare you the details of the story. After we talked for about ten minutes, he went in the bathroom and showered. I heard the water run and the shower curtain squeak on the rod. I'm still sitting on my couch, probably watching one of your videos, and all of a sudden my dogs start barking. My dogs do bark quite a bit, but usually go crazy when they hear or see a car pulling. in the driveway.
Starting point is 01:34:00 I got up and looked out the window to see my husband driving his car into the driveway. I was really confused. He came in the house and I asked him where he went or if he went to the post office. We have a PO box and it's right across the street. He looked at me all confused and said, Uh, work? I literally started arguing thinking that he was joking with me to make me think I'm crazy, but he was 100% serious.
Starting point is 01:34:31 He had just gotten home. I vividly remember him coming in, telling me about his day and getting in the shower. My face was pale and my heart was beating so fast. He started laughing, thinking that I was messing with him. My husband is not someone who believes in conspiracy theories or glitches or anything, so I didn't even tell him what I was thinking. I kept telling myself that,
Starting point is 01:34:57 I'd had a long day at work and was probably tired or dreaming. But I really don't think that's the case. I'd like to know what you all think about this situation. I wanted to share a strange experience that happened to me about three or four years ago. I was volunteering at a discipleship school, and there was, like, dorm rooms. I was in one of them. I remember how there was a dresser in my room near a bed across from me. I looked at it and it was moved, I think, because I was cleaning and I had moved it.
Starting point is 01:35:42 But I know that it was there next to my bed for a fact. As I looked at it, I thought about how I wanted to move it back to its original spot, which was a lot further across the room near the door. Honestly, I'm not sure why it was moved near me, but I looked at it before bed and wanted to move it, but I decided I would just do it in the morning. When I woke up the next morning, it was in its original spot. So I went to thank my roommate, my only roommate, by the way, for moving it back.
Starting point is 01:36:16 I told her, hey, thanks for moving the dresser back. I wanted to do it last night, but didn't get to it. I so appreciated her, but then she replied, I never moved it. It wasn't me. So I said, wait, what? Who moved it then? She said, I don't know, but it wasn't me.
Starting point is 01:36:36 I then asked, Don't you remember it was right here? Maybe this was a different dimension, I said jokingly. And she laughed. To this day, I don't know what happened. I don't know if an angel moved it or maybe I did but don't remember. But I'm sure I would remember something like that. Like, why would I move it in the middle of the night?
Starting point is 01:37:00 For now, I'm not. I'm not sure if I'm in another dimension or not, and to this day, I wonder. Hey, Raven, I'm first time submitting a story to you. It took me a while to get the courage to do it. Anyway, one night after work, I decided to go to a sports bar around the corner from my job. I worked the second shift, so this was pretty late, early morning. I had a few drinks, but I was still coherent. I ordered an Uber, and my driver arrived shortly after.
Starting point is 01:37:40 after. While riding in the Uber, the Uber driver caught my attention saying, look, look, while pointing her finger in the sky. Originally, I looked and just brushed it off saying, it's just the full moon. And then I realized that it wasn't actually the moon. It was a huge orange orb way too large to be the moon. All of a sudden, it shifted left and then just dropped out of sight. I wasn't the only one to see it, so I know that I wasn't tripping. Anyway, that's my glitch, Raven. Keep up the good work.
Starting point is 01:38:27 So that was this week's collection of Glitch and the Matrix Stories on the As the Raven Dreams podcast. I hope you enjoyed this collection of glitchy goodness.
