Hey there, friends, and good afternoon. I hope you are doing well on today, the 14th September, which is a Monday. Wow, it's Monday already.
I'm doing pretty well. A weekend went all right, a bit uneventable, which is kind of, I don't know, what I wanted. So, yeah. It's nice and cool here this morning. It's a lovely brisk, what's my watch, say, 52.
according to my watch.
The high today is in the 60s.
The high for the rest of the week
isn't going to get above 70 flat.
And the lows are in the 40s to low 60s.
So let's go.
We are a week away from the autumn equinox,
a little more than, like eight days, I think.
So I'm ready for fall, basically, is what I'm trying to say.
And yeah, I don't really have much else to say.
This is a stories for sleep or dark dreams episode,
I don't want to call it.
older stories, rain background sounds, you guys probably know the deal at this point.
And I hope you enjoy them, my friends.
I hope that you sleep well.
And yeah, I don't know, just go enjoy and relax, okay?
We'll see you again soon.
Hey, Raven, I wanted to start by saying that I love the stories that you tell,
especially the paranormal and glitch ones.
I actually have a haunting story about the house that my dad and stepmom live in
that I've wanted to send you for a bit now but just haven't had the chance.
It's not really relevant, but it does help explain some things.
I'm 17 and my parents are divorced.
Me and my sister spend every other weekend and all summer at my dad's house.
And I have to say that that house is seriously haunted.
I have a few experiences that.
I could share, quite a few actually, but here are just a couple of the ones that I think
are the most interesting.
One of the first events to mention, and is actually something that has happened more than once,
is the weirdness with the front door security camera.
We have a camera that's mounted and that watches the front door on the inside, and in part
of the frame you can actually see down into the basement area, specifically a door to what is the
laundry room. More than once one of us has been watching the camera and seen someone else in the
family walking out of the room and to the right. With how the camera is positioned, you can't
see the full person but can see part of their head and shoulder for a second or two.
The first time it happened, I had taken my sister and brother to get lunch. We walked to
the McDonald's down the street. We'd been out for a little bit, finishing up our food, when my dad
called me. I answered, and he asked me what my sister was doing in the laundry room.
I looked at her and laughed and said that we weren't even home, that we'd gone out to get lunch,
and then asked her if she had gone into the laundry room at all today. My dad cut me off and said,
no, just now. I just now watched her on the camera and she walked into the laundry room.
I once again reiterated that we hadn't been home for about half an hour, and that she's
said she hadn't been in there.
After a bit of confused back and forth, he told me that he was going to head home, and that,
if we got there before he did, to not go inside.
I think that he was thinking it was an intruder or something, but when we all got there
and he walked through, there was no one there.
The doors were all locked, and there was nothing out of place.
He showed us, on the footage from the app, that there was absolutely someone that looked
like my sister walking into the laundry room, but something felt off about it. Like it wasn't
solid, if that makes sense? This actually happened several more times last summer, but it wasn't
just my sister. I saw my dad and stepmom walk in at different times. He saw me walking out of the
room. My stepmom saw my dad. It was crazy that it happened so many times, and each time it was
impossible for any of us to have actually gone into that room. In the end, we talked it up to some
kind of spirit that just liked to appear as people in the house. It seemed to never do anything
malicious. It just kind of randomly appeared and walked into the laundry room as random people
in the family. The other thing that happens frequently is the strange voices that we all hear
from time to time. I have no idea if these are connected to
to the mimic spirit in the basement, but it would make sense since it seems to copy those of us
that are here. On several occasions, we've all heard someone else in the family talking nearby
when the person is nowhere near us. The first time it happened, I was 14, and it was actually
my stepmom that experienced it. She was in her room, sorting out laundry, when she heard me screaming,
like in pain or completely terrified screaming.
She threw the clothes down and ran into the living room hollering for me,
and then shouted to my dad asking where I was.
He reminded her that I was on a mission trip with the church that weekend,
and asked what was wrong.
She explained what she heard, and he told her that he didn't hear it.
And after just kind of looking around the house and asking my siblings,
my stepmom decided that she was just hearing things.
Then, literally the next day, it was around two in the morning, and my dad said that he was having
major trouble sleeping, like he was having some serious insomnia and hadn't fallen asleep.
He decided to get up and go watch some TV in the living room to see if he could finally
fall asleep, and the second he walked into the living room he said that he heard me screaming
for help.
In a panic, he ran to my room and threw the door over.
open, but then remembered that I still wasn't home.
He told my stepmom about it, and they both kind of just kept quiet about it, thinking that
it would scare us kids.
After that, I had a similar experience with hearing my dad calling for me when he wasn't home,
my sister crying while she was asleep in her bedroom, and I've heard my little brother outside
talking to me when he was down in the basement playing the PlayStation.
I don't know if this is related to the other spirit, but it very well could be.
And if so, I would say that this activity is a bit more malicious than just showing up on the camera.
So that's my experience.
And overall, I know that it isn't incredibly terrifying, but it's scary for those of us that stay there.
And obviously my dad, stepmom, and younger brother, who live there full time.
It's been less and less over the last couple years, but when it was happening, it was pretty frequent.
I'm curious if any of your listeners have anything similar to this, but if not, then hopefully they can get a bit of chill from my story, at the very least.
Hello, Raven. As everyone says when they submit a story, I've been a long-time listener.
I love your work, and it's been great to see the podcast great.
so much over the last few years. Thank you. I have personally had a few of what I would classify as
paranormal experiences in my life. Nothing too severe, but this one left me kind of chilled. I guess that it can be
classified as both a sleep paralysis and a glitch in the Matrix story. My wife works as a nurse
at our local hospital.
She had up until last week worked a 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. schedule.
But because of our children's schedules, a little girl aged two years and a little boy aged four months,
she switched to a 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. schedule.
Less days, but longer days.
This event happened yesterday morning.
My wife was getting up and ready for work around.
5.45 a.m. When our son woke up crying. She made him a bottle, burped him, changed him,
and got him back to sleep. That took a good chunk of time, and it was about 6.10 when she came in
to say goodbye to me. I was in the groggy half-stage between a sleep and awake. Those of you with
ADT and similar security systems know that when a window or door is opened, the system chimes to let you know,
that a sensor has been triggered.
This is a primary safety function,
and one of my favorite aspects of the security package that we purchased.
After she left and I heard the faithful ADT security system chimed that the front door was open,
I immediately fell back asleep.
And that's when the weird things start.
I entered a dream.
One of those fully fleshed out dreams that seemed so very,
real that it was frightening. In my dream, my wife woke me up again after leaving, excited about
an app that she found. She knows I love horror, and with the Halloween season coming up,
it just seemed like a perfect time to show me. The app was an analog horror story about a man
named Williams' interaction with an Enrio, a Japanese spirit of vengeance. In my dream, it was a
dream it was still early morning, so I fired it up to read it out. And sure enough, the game
starts with a series of journal entries about the protagonist's interactions with the spirit,
and photos that he had gotten of the spirit. This app was terrifying to the dream me,
and I opened the Play Store to look up reviews. And all of the reviews were saying the same
thing. This app is terrifying, and after a certain amount of
of time, I started experiencing my own paranormal activity.
There were a dozen or so reviews that said the same thing, so Dream Me deleted the app,
and the dream more or less faded out.
This is where it gets even more perplexing.
I've always had the occasional bout of sleep paralysis.
Nothing terrible.
No malevolent beings.
No Hatman, nothing like that.
My typical sleep paralysis entity is a black cat that joins me on the bed.
I imagine it's because I used to have a cat named Kitty.
Very creative, I know, when I was little, but she's been dead for almost a decade.
And it's almost comforting to have these paralysis events.
But I haven't had an experience like that in a few years.
I woke up and was obviously in an episode of sleep paralysis.
Couldn't move, couldn't talk, but I was almost fully conscious.
I was expecting my usually harmless feline friends to enter the room and climb in bed.
But that's not what happened.
I heard a shuffling above me from our ceiling, and as far as I could tell, a being was burrowing through our ceiling to get to me.
It dropped to the floor next to the bed, and I felt it's unlawfulfulfulful.
And I felt its eyes staring at me.
It went on like this for a few minutes, but eventually I heard it shuffle out of our room,
into the hallway, creak on the hardwood in our living room, and then open the front door.
I knew it did, because of the ADT chimes signaling that it had been opened.
The paralysis did not subside, and I had the feeling of eyes on me for some time.
I imagine it was staring at me through her bedroom window.
The paralysis ended and my daughter woke up, and I heard her footsteps coming down the hall.
As a parent, you learn the sound of your children's walks, especially on hardwood.
So, I roused myself up, and with the dream and paralysis experience still in my mind,
I texted my wife the whole experience and asked her if any of it were true.
She had left that morning, and our security cameras confirmed it, but she did not return,
and she did not show me a horror app.
I then searched the App Store for this app, and Surprise, surprise, it doesn't exist.
Our security cameras and ADT app showed that no one left the house, or was in our yard after my wife left.
I have no idea what to make of it.
not only did I create a whole horror app in my dream,
I also had a strange sleep paralysis experience that,
more or less, went hand in hand with the concept of the app,
and the experiences the app users complained about.
What does it all mean?
If I have any similar experiences, I will post an update.
This happened many years ago.
But it was such a terrifying moment for me that I still remember it vividly.
Back when I was about 13 or 14, my family, which consisted of my parents, me, my little sister and our dog,
had to live in a hotel for about a month while our home was being repaired due to flooding.
Being a teenage girl at the time, spending most of my time in the same room as my parents,
was not my idea of fun.
Thankfully, I was able to bring some of my stuff to keep me entertained,
and there was also a pool so I could go swimming whenever I wanted to.
However, it was also a prime opportunity to stay over with friends
because they rarely told me no.
I wish I would have stayed with someone on this particular day, though,
that way I could have just avoided this whole situation.
It was a Saturday, and while my dad still worked, my mom was home with me and my sister, until she needed to run errands.
I wasn't interested at the time, with having to go to a bunch of places, as I knew I would probably just get stuck with watching my sister.
So I asked if I could stay at the hotel.
After a few pleas, she reluctantly agreed, telling me not to answer the door for anyone as she would have the key.
Dad left his in the room in case we needed it, since Mom was always back before he got home.
She did say that I could go to the pool since I'd been down there to swim by myself before.
So, after the list of do's and don'ts, she finally left.
I probably stayed in the room for about an hour or so, playing my DS and watching TV,
until I started getting bored.
Since I could only use the hotel phone for emergencies, my mom had her cell phone and the hotel charged for phone calls.
My next plan was to go swimming for a bit.
I changed into my swimsuit and put my cover up on, and then left the room with nothing but a towel in the room key.
Thankfully, there weren't many people there.
There was a woman with her baby and a kid maybe a few years younger than me playing.
then a group of like four old people in the hot tub just talking.
Lastly, there was a guy sitting close to the back door working on some kind of puzzle book.
I had wrapped my room key in my towel and set it on one of the chairs off to the side, hoping that no one would bother it.
I'd seen multiple people grab towels from anywhere nearby the towel cart that they kept in there,
so I always worried that they would take mine by mistake, and then I would lose their own.
room key. I got in the pool by taking the stairs, which was where the mom and the kid were hanging
out, and then slowly walked over to the deeper side. I liked going over there and either just
floating around or swimming back and forth to each side. However, the deeper I went, the closer I
got to the guy with the puzzle book. That's how I noticed that he was staring at me. When I would
come up for air or just glance over, he was always looking at me and would just smile.
After the first time, though, I stopped smiling back. I may have been shy, but something about his
smile was unsettling. I tried my best to just have fun, but that feeling in my stomach was
not going away. I think the mom in the pool even noticed, as I would look around at anything I could,
just to stop myself from looking at him.
And I noticed how she kept looking past her baby at him.
That feeling would then intensify when I noticed the guy stand up
and start walking towards the pool.
And of all the places to get into the pool,
the stairs of the ladder on the deepest side,
he chose to stop and sit on the edge of the pool
with his feet dangling in it right where I was.
after he sat down the only thing he said was
Hey young lady, mind if I jump in?
The words may have been innocent
But it was something about his inflection
And the way that he said it that nearly gave me a panic attack
I was at a loss of words or even action to take
So I just looked away and swam to the other side of the pool
And then jumped over the edge to get out
My chair was close to the door, so I quickly grabbed it all, and without even trying to dry off or put on my cover, I swung the door open and rushed out of there.
I know that I may have already seemed like someone who was in a hurry or something, but I thought I would just fast walk to the elevator to get there quicker, but also not look like I was running away, I guess.
I was 14.
I didn't know what to do.
However, that feeling in my gut intensified more when I heard the pool door open, and outwalks this same guy.
You just went to get into the pool.
Why would you be leaving it and your stuff behind?
Tell me that that doesn't scream that he was trying to follow someone.
So I picked up the pace and ran to the elevator, jamming the button until it finally opened.
But this guy was still pretty close behind me,
and now waving and yelling at me to hold the elevator.
Like hell, I was going to do that.
So I started jamming the button to close the door faster.
I figured if I could get in the elevator alone,
it would be safer than taking the stairs that were enclosed
and someone not being able to see or possibly hear me
if something did happen.
I didn't factor in the odds of him being capable of catching up to me,
stopping the elevator,
and being enclosed in the metal box with me,
which was exactly what happened.
My heart was pounding.
I stood as close as I could to the door,
but with my back against the wall,
that way he wasn't behind me and was within my vision.
That's when he started going on about how rude it was
for me to not hold the door for someone,
especially when they ask you to.
He just seemed incredibly angry for something so simple,
and also towards a child.
It startled me even more.
I didn't know what else to do, but I clutched my stuff closer to my chest and remained quiet.
When he realized he wasn't getting a response from me, he started asking about what room I was in,
and if I was alone, or if my parents knew where I was.
This was already causing anxiety to pile up, but then I realized he never pushed a button on the elevator.
I did.
So now, I was worried that he at least knew what floor I was on.
As soon as it stopped and the doors were just open enough to fit myself through, I took off.
I was terrified of the thought of him once again catching up to me, and what if he did as I was entering the room?
My mom probably wasn't back yet, so I would be alone.
So, trying to think fast, I ran as far as I could to the room.
the end of the hall and started banging on a random door, hoping for the best. I remember shouting,
Dad, I forgot my key. Open the door. While looking back, I noticed the guy was still coming towards me,
but at a slower pace. What I wasn't expecting was an actual older man in his boxers and a shirt
to open the door and look at me confused. I, again, was hesitant about running in this room,
so I just looked down and softly said,
there's a man following me.
I apparently said it loud enough for him to hear, as he walked out of the room, shouting,
What kind of grown man is following around little girls?
The creep was standing at a room a few doors down and had just looked over at us.
The older man started approaching him and confronted him, again asking why he was following me,
when the guy said that there was obviously a misunderstanding.
He claimed that he was just trying to get to.
to his room, which happened to be on the same floor that I went, and it must have scared me.
I guess I was feeling a little brave, so I mentioned him being at the pool and what he had said
in the elevator.
The old man actually stuck around and told him that he better go to his room.
The creep patted down his pockets and wiggled the doorknob and looked back at us and said,
Oh, I must have dropped my key, and walked off back towards the elevator.
I still highly doubt that that was actually his room, and he was just standing by to see what happened.
I felt the old man was pretty close to knocking that guy out.
After he was out of sight, the man started asking me if I knew that guy and what happened,
and while we were talking, another lady and a kid walked out of their room.
I assume it was like a grandparent's and grandkids situation.
They then walked me to my room, which was actually.
around the corner, about midway up the hall.
When I got there, my mom ended up coming back shortly after.
I told her what had happened, and she immediately went to inform the front desk.
Unfortunately, the only part that I really know about that
was that they told my mom they would check to see who was in that room and get back to her
if they found out anything.
The thing is, we were there for another week, and daily my mom would ask,
them and they wouldn't tell her anything.
They had a bit of an argument at that point, and whoever was there at the time, told my mom
that it wouldn't make a difference because they didn't actually do anything to me, and they
couldn't kick them out if they already paid.
This made my parents angry enough that we left that hotel and went to another one for the rest
of our time.
So, we never did see that creep again, thankfully.
I don't know what his actual intentions were, but I try not to think about that stuff.
I just avoid being alone in places like hotels, and where there may not be a lot of people or witnesses around from that moment onward.
I just hope that he was never able to terrorize another kid like that again.
Hello, Raven. Longtime listener, first-time submitter.
I'm also a content creator on YouTube, so I'll be listening.
leaving my real name out of the story.
Trolls.
You know how it goes.
What I'm about to tell you, I swear, is 100% true and actually happened.
Keep in mind, I'm very skeptical by nature.
And when I listen to some glitch in the Matrix or paranormal stories,
I can't help but think how much is embellished or straight up fabricated.
So, for the listener like me hearing this,
I am telling you on my life that these two unexplainable events really happened to me,
and are not embellished.
Some quick preface.
I am a Christian, and 100% believe in things such as the spiritual world,
and even the esoteric and the astral.
The Bible even talks about the spirit world, and to stay away from things like magic, esoteric, and the like.
What makes my unexplainable situations so odd to me is that there is usually a light, positive, or dark, or evil connotation with supernatural experiences.
In my two cases, however, it was neither.
It didn't feel evil, it didn't feel good.
Just neutral, I guess.
But extremely odd and bizarre.
Anywho, enough backstory, here are the experiences.
True experience, number one.
When I was very young, say about four or five years old, it was the early 90s, and our entire family would have a tradition of watching America's funniest home videos with Bob Sagitt.
A lot of 90s kids will remember this.
We also lived with my grandparents at the time, so...
It was my mom, stepdad, and both grandparents altogether, that would almost nightly watch and enjoy the silly video compilations.
Well, this is where I get goosebumps.
One night, as we watched this show, there was the usual grainy video submission.
The video submission shows an infant in a booster seat, maybe about two or barely three years old,
and his family is singing the happy birthday song to him
with his birthday cake on their small dining table.
I'm watching this on TV,
and while they sing happy birthday,
I start to see a very slow, rising, transparent,
brown alien-looking figure
emerge up from the cake.
It raised up to about mid-chest height
and was scrawny and weak-looking.
To put it into perspective,
the size of this boy's cake was about the same height of how much this brown,
see-through alien creature raised from it was.
It had pitch-black enlarged eyes,
but not the stereotypical bug-looking alien eyes.
These were almost like human-sized-eyed,
just pitch-black and a bit larger than normal.
And it had a smile that was pitch-black as well.
No teeth.
It almost looked cartoony, and I also remember its neck being really stretched.
So I'm only four or five years old seeing this.
No one else in my family watching reacted to this clearly supernatural thing being shown.
It was as if I was the only one that could see this happening.
They were just chuckling at whatever was funny in the video.
If I saw this as an adult,
I would probably faint or run out of the room, but being a young kid, I see this, and I wasn't scared at all.
Just more confused and trying to make sense of why this was supposed to be funny.
I also understood enough in my world at that age that what I saw was not something that was normal to see.
I never brought this up to them when I saw it, though.
I just kept it to myself.
And check this out.
I swear that this is not a joke.
Some moments of time pass, I can't remember exactly, maybe a few months.
And we watch a rerun of this episode.
And they show the same video submission.
I see the exact same thing again, but this second time,
I recognize the submission and I'm looking to see if it happens again.
And sure enough, it did.
Same reaction, though.
I wasn't scared or even felt anything evil from it.
Just more confused on what it was, and that no one else in my family saw what I was seeing.
I still kept it to myself.
I'm really not sure why.
So, fast forward decades later, I remember this happening to me as a child.
So I try my best to search on YouTube.
anywhere on the internet, for that matter, the same video submission that I saw as a kid from
those early 90s episodes. And I can't find it anywhere. I looked for a long time. I cannot find that
video submission anywhere. I have a very good long-term memory, and I'm certain I was not dreaming
when this happened. It was just very odd. True experience, number two.
too. This next unexplainable experience happened during my teenage years. So I think I was maybe
about 12 years old. I was, and still am to this day, a big gamer. So young teenage me was staying up
very late one night, playing a PlayStation 1 platformer game called Skull Monkeys. Very underrated game,
by the way. I wholeheartedly agree, and I love that game. I was 12 with no job or income and
somewhat of a lower-class family, so it was rare that I would be able to have games bought for me.
Because of this, this was a game that my parents would let me rent from Blockbuster several times.
So, this one particular night, I was playing it, and I did my best to beat it, as I know that I would have to return the game.
back soon. I stay up to about 3 a.m. and I play a graveyard level with ghost figures everywhere in the
foreground and background. Interesting level type that I was playing considering what happens after.
I couldn't stay up another minute, so I call it a night and turn the game off. And then I head to
my bunk bed to sleep. So I crawl to my top bunk, my little brother sleeping below. My little brother's
sleeping below, out like a rock.
And I'm laying there, ruminating on the game and humming the graveyard level's background
music in my head.
Then, I hear clear as day in the corner of my room, a bizarre, almost otherworldly sound,
which can only be described as a digital xylophone.
I can't mouth the sound that had played over typed words, but it was basically a brief
series of single notes played up in a major scale, then played back down in the same scale.
This wasn't from any toy or object in my room. I knew I room then very well. The sound was just
something unexplainable. And again, no feeling of evil or good, just an unexplainable
glitch or whatever you want to call it. However, safe to say, though, this one freaked me out.
I hid under my covers with my heart sinking down to what felt like my feet.
I've probably never been more scared.
My younger brother was fast asleep and obviously didn't hear anything of what I heard.
It was terrible.
I had no choice to stay in my top bunk under the covers,
and I was running on fear and adrenaline hoping that whatever the hell made that bizarre noise
wasn't anything malicious.
I also didn't know if this would happen again
or had no idea what in the world made those series of digital notes.
But that was it.
The noise never returned.
And I eventually was able to fall asleep.
Just like this one, I never told my family what I heard.
Thanks for letting me share these true experiences that I had.
And thank you for a real.
reminding me that skull monkeys exist.
This is going to be a bit of a long post, so I'll just start at the beginning.
I have always experienced paranormal things, and my earliest memory of anything paranormal was age
four.
I have many stories of things I've witnessed in my lifetime, but this is one from my time
living in rural Missouri.
In 2009, I moved in with my boyfriend, now husband, and his family.
They lived in a beautiful farmhouse on several acres of land.
The nearest neighbor was probably half a mile down the road, so it was very quiet.
This home has a large basement that was basically a two-bedroom apartment, and that's where my husband and I lived.
As soon as I moved in, I started to notice strange sounds and see things.
I didn't mention these things to him because I didn't want him to think I was crazy.
It would take me a long while to type out every single instance of what we witnessed,
but I'll tell you the ones that still scare me to this day, when I think back.
Right outside of our bedroom door was a long hallway that led to the staircase and another bedroom.
We were the only two people to ever go into the basement.
One night, we were already in bed and watching TV,
when we began to hear extremely heavy footsteps pacing up and down the hallway.
It was so heavy that we thought maybe someone had broken into the house and was wearing heavy work boots or something.
We turned the television off and started to listen closely.
It would pass by our door and seemed to go towards the end of the hall, and then would come back near the door.
At this point, our dog was growling and looking towards the door.
With the TV off, the bedroom was pitch-black dark.
My husband called out,
Hello?
The sound of the boots stopped.
He started to text his mother, the only other person home that night, and he asked her if she was downstairs.
She responded that she was sleeping.
My husband started to get up and find out who was in the house.
He made it about halfway to the door, and all of a sudden, the door literally flew open.
It was such a force that the knob knocked a small hole into the wall.
At that point our dog went crazy and was barking
and ran to hide under a table.
The bedroom was still extremely dark,
so my husband tried to hurry and turn the lights on.
The lights come on?
Silence.
He runs into the hallway looking around.
We both searched the entire basement and found nothing.
One night, we're sitting in the living room area in the basement watching television.
behind the living room area was a kitchen area that had a long bar.
We had a few bar stools up on the bar and a telephone on a charger.
In this particular night, we were the only ones at home, as everyone else had gone out to dinner.
We start to hear a weird sound, almost like someone was moving furniture across the floor.
We lower the volume on the TV so we can hear things better, and we hear something moving again.
All of a sudden, we hear a very loud crashing sound right behind the couch.
We then feel something hit the back of the couch.
We both jumped up terrified and looked behind us.
Two of the bar stools that were on the bar are now on the floor behind the couch.
Keep in mind, the kitchen area sat back about 14 or 15 feet from where the couch is.
If they simply fell somehow, there was a little bit of the couch.
was no possible way that they traveled like that.
The phone that was on the other end of the bar was about 10 feet away on the floor and ripped
from the charger.
We looked around and we literally ran up the stairs and outside until we could calm down.
I was absolutely terrified and feared the basement after that.
We started to see what looked like a possible shadow figure standing in doorways.
Each time we would see it, it was just standing there and would slowly move.
away. It got to the point that we would try to ignore it until it went away.
We told his mom and stepdad and they told us that they saw and hurt things frequently, too.
We would be upstairs and hear the toilet flush in the bathroom. We would then hear the water
and the sink turn on and then silence. At night, if we would come upstairs and walk through the
house while the lights were off, you would just feel as though you were being watched.
We made the mistake of trying to hold a seance one evening.
We wanted to ask and see what was there, or maybe what they wanted.
We were sitting in the kitchen upstairs in the main part of the house.
There's an arched doorway to exit the kitchen, and just to the right as you walk through the arched doorway,
was the stairs leading back down to the basement.
As we are asking if anyone would like to talk to us, we hear what sounds like someone running up the stairs from the basement.
It was very heavy footsteps.
His mom and little sister were with us at the table.
We all four jumped up, scared as hell.
We all looked at the doorway to see who was coming up the stairs.
As soon as it seemed like it was nearing the top of the stairs, it went silent.
We all had to go outside until we were calmed and had the courage to come back inside.
These are just a few examples out of many more things that we have witnessed while living there.
I asked my husband if he had noticed any of these things happening before now.
He said that things happened, but nowhere near as bad as once I moved in.
His mother told me the same thing.
We ended up going to the library and speaking with a local historian.
She told us that in the late 70s, a young woman had committed suicide in the home, in the basement.
She told us that a very young woman who lived in the home had become very depressed.
and she ended her life in the area right by the basement kitchen.
Immediately things started to make sense.
I have so many more experiences in the house, if anyone, would like to hear them.
After listening to your podcast, I realized that I, too, had experienced a series of strange events
that I couldn't quite wrap my head around to explain.
This incident occurred when I was still living in my parents' experience.
house about eight years ago in 2015. It actually happened a few times, but one instance seemed the
most vivid and realistic of them all. My parents' house, situated in a third-world country within
a bustling city, was rather narrow, and consisted of two floors. Consequently, we shared a bedroom
on the second floor.
To provide a clearer picture of the story, allow me to describe the room's layout.
The room was nearly square in shape, featuring a sliding door on the eastern wall with foggy glass,
enabling you to perceive a person's shadow in the hallway.
Upon entering, your gaze would be met by a metal bunk bed.
I occupied the top bunk, while my mother claimed the bottom.
Adjacent to the bunk bed, my father's bed was positioned
at a 90-degree angle.
If you were on the top bunk, you could only see the upper section of the sliding door.
As for the floor, the lower bunk, as well as my father's bed, they were hidden from view.
Given that my father's work frequently required him to travel out of town, several times each month,
he happened to be away on a work trip that particular night.
In contrast, my mother managed a small shop downstairs.
so she was usually in close proximity to the house.
On occasion, she would come up to the bedroom later than I went to sleep.
That night, after completing my homework, I turned off all the lights except for a softly glowing bedside lamp.
I then ascended to my bunk bed to chat with my Facebook friends before drifting off to sleep.
Well, there was a house rule of prohibiting me from bringing my phone to bed.
I remained on high alert, ready to hastily conceal it, should my mother enter the room.
About an hour later, I discerned the faint sound of my mother's footsteps,
followed immediately by the sliding door gliding open and shut.
Swiftly, I powered down my phone and slid it beneath my pillow, pretending to sleep.
I heard the bed creaking beneath the weight of my mother, accompanied by the rustling of bedsheets.
In an attempt to sound drowsy, I inquired,
Mom, why are you coming up so late?
Her response was a mixture of groaning and shifting on the bed,
suggesting that she might be unwell or extremely fatigued.
Slightly concerned, I'd sat up to check up on her.
However, as I did so, I noticed a faint illumination in the hallway,
indicating that the lights on the first floor were still on.
Looks like you forgot to turn off the downstairs light, Mom.
I quipped, alluding to her usual annoyance when I neglected to turn off lights in my room.
Curiously, she didn't reply on this occasion.
Exhaling audibly, I descended from the bunk bed to head downstairs and extinguish the light.
As I cast a glance towards my mother, I expected to see her wrapped in blankets, ready with an excuse for the oversight.
To my absolute astonishment, however, the bottom bunk was empty.
Baffled, I began to remove pillows and blankets and disbelief, but she was nowhere to be found.
Simultaneously, I heard footsteps downstairs, accompanied by the illumination of another light.
Anxious to uncover the truth, I rushed downstairs to be met by my very much present mother.
Her voice fatigued as she asked,
"'What's going on? Isn't it your bedtime?'
"'Striving to mask my growing panic.
I asked,
"'Were you downstairs working all this time?'
She shrugged and replied.
"'Yeah, I had to finish a commission quickly for a customer tomorrow.'
"'Urgently I then inquired,
"'Are you absolutely certain you weren't just upstairs?'
"'Amused?'
She retorted with,
Come on, do you think I have the energy to run up and down at this time?
It was around 11.30 p.m. as I glanced over at the clock.
With a nod, I watched as she went to use the bathroom on the first floor.
Feeling bewildered, I hurriedly returned upstairs.
That night, sleep eluded me,
and I found myself repeatedly checking the bottom bunk to verify my mother's presence.
while the memory eventually faded, it resurfaced sporadically whenever I recounted ghost stories to my friends.
However, the inexplicable occurrences did not end there.
On several subsequent occasions, I thought I heard my father's footsteps right outside the door with a faded shadow, even when he was away.
Sometimes the creaking and rustling of the bed sheets in my mother's usual spot when she wasn't
there, but no groaning voices unlike that one time.
It could be noises in the neighborhood misinterpreted, but, as any growing child would,
I became adept at identifying individual family members' footsteps, and even motorbike engines.
I mentioned it to my mom one time, but she just chalked it up to me having a dream or a sleep paralysis episode.
The peculiar noises ceased once I moved out in 2018.
What makes a town idyllic?
At what point does a town cross the line from being dark to becoming dreamy?
The truth is, it's a lot more nuanced than simply good or bad.
Sometimes the most picturesque of towns can hold secrets that potentially outweigh all the perfect things.
if you only knew about them.
Longtime viewers of Raven's channel may remember the story I submitted about Greg,
the stain of Hollywood.
If not, that's all right.
I'll recap the events of that summer.
Greg was well-known in Hollywood.
A nice guy, a great rugby player,
generally an all-around decent person who you'd want to meet.
Turns out, he was also an active...
predator and stalker in the background.
My friend Matt nearly fell victim to his vile grasp, barely able to escape.
After finding this out, we severed all connections between us, our friends, and him.
The stories spread across the town's youth rapidly, though the names were lost somewhere in the
wildfire.
A month or so after our last sighting of Greg, we realized something.
While we hadn't seen him in a month, he definitely had seen us.
The deeply disturbing discovery of him stalking us, or, more accurately, Matt, was a gut-wrenching
feeling that I will never forget.
This all happened around early to mid-2020.
Raven read this story on his channel a year later, in 2021.
Unfortunately, I wrote it only a few months before some pretty major events.
Greg had been arrested for the possession of drugs.
I'm unsure what it was, but I've heard it was something heavy.
He got beaten up later on by some people in this year.
He changed everything about himself.
His hair, his legal name, his school, his house, his friends, and even his gender identity.
While I've been using the pronoun of he, him up until now, I'll be using the preferred
pronouns of they them.
While Greg might be a vile abortion of a human, misgendering them is an insult to perfectly normal,
non-binary people.
This radical change in identity was likely due to the fact that their own cousin discovered
my post about them on Reddit.
He told his family, who I can only imagine, disowned them.
Over the past three years, Greg, or Axel, as they are now called,
was largely unseen by the people of Hollywood.
Whether they moved away or just remained in the shadows of Hollywood is unclear.
However, every few months, I'd be told by one of my friends that they saw them.
They became a druggie, always hanging out in dark places and doing hard drugs.
Every time I was told of a Greg sighting, we still call them Greg so that everyone is on the same page,
during discussions about them, I would be told of how they currently looked.
It seemed like they were constantly changing their hairstyle and sense of style.
Whether this constant identity change was a result of Matt and I, or their drug problem, is unknown.
This was pretty much the story up until recently.
An open-ended cautionary tale about who you decide to trust.
But, in the past month, some awful stuff has gone down, which I will tell you now.
This summer, in Hollywood, and many surrounding towns has been nicknamed the Stoner Summer.
This is, in case the name is unclear, referring to the fact that almost everyone who hadn't tried weed before summer now had.
While I personally had used it recreationally a few times, I was also sucked into it and smoked the divine grass a few too many times.
And of course, with weed to smoke comes a place to be.
With the blatant illegality of grass, it's no surprise that you need to smoke it somewhere away from people.
A very common place was, unfortunately, Glen Lyon.
This forest was the breeding ground.
for Greg to enact upon their despicable desires.
It wasn't rare to take a few steps into the forest and smell grass.
In fact, I bumped into several people who barely even bothered to find a secluded place.
In retrospect, if I found them near where I wanted to smoke, my spots likely weren't any more
hidden.
My friend, who I'll call Ryan, was already up in Glen Lion.
My other friend Patrick was in Glenline walking his dogs.
While I may be friends with both, the two of them are not very close.
They come from two very different lifestyles, and can never really see eye to eye on anything.
Despite this, there was no bad blood between them.
They just never really saw each other as friends.
They accidentally bumped into each other that day.
With Ryan's state of mind, he decided to see.
decided to walk with Patrick and the dogs around the forest for a bit.
It was quite late, and nobody else was in the forest.
At least, they thought that.
A good bit into the woods, they noticed someone with their hood up walking towards them.
With the stranger's build and distinctly red-colored hair,
both Patrick and Ryan instantly knew that it was Greg.
They stopped dead in their tracks,
which is likely what caused Greg to stop and look at them.
I'm sure that Greg knew that Patrick and I were friends, and I wouldn't be surprised if they knew I was friends with Ryan.
Despite the darkness, I was told by both of them that they saw Greg's face, revealing pretty grim teeth, all yellow and some even decaying.
What Greg did next still haunts me.
They grabbed their knife, which apparently they carry around everywhere and held it up as if they were going to throw it.
Of course, my friends ran backwards.
When Patrick looked back, he saw that Greg was still holding the knife prepared to throw.
Patrick flinched as Greg appeared to throw it.
A moment later, Patrick looked back to realize they didn't throw it.
Ryan looks back and Greg does it again.
Greg was pretending to throw this knife at them, likely to scare them.
Whatever drugs they were on, they clearly didn't.
messed them up even worse than they were before.
Patrick and Ryan still ran.
When I was told of this story, I didn't believe it.
A ghost from our past coming back to haunt us?
Ryan has a history of making up fake stories, so I thought he was making it all up to scare me.
A dick move, sure, but not something unheard of when it comes to this guy.
Yet, he persisted on it being true.
So, of course, I phoned Patrick, who backed up the story almost word for word.
I was disturbed, but I'm not 13 anymore and Matt's not 11.
If Greg's back for whatever reason, they're no longer a threat to us.
But they are a threat to the younger children of Hollywood.
Rowan, a key figure in the original incident, even told me that they sometimes hang out with an eight-year-old boy.
and nobody questions it.
That's the thing with small, perfect towns, like Hollywood.
Bad things are so unheard of that,
even when the evidence is right there in front of people's noses,
nobody bats an eye.
With what I had been told,
I decided to keep a weary eye out for Greg.
A few nights later, I was walking down to my local Tesco's
when I saw them.
They didn't see me, so...
I kept my head down and walked into the shop.
I prayed that I hadn't been seen.
I picked up what I had wanted to buy, bought it, and then left.
As I walked down the street, looking around to see if Greg was there, I saw them.
They were standing on the pavement that I was walking on, staring straight at me.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw them.
I turned around and started walking backwards, deciding to go a slagely.
slightly longer way rather than walk past them.
I kept telling myself knots to look behind me, but there got to a point where I couldn't control
it.
I glanced backwards, only to see that they were following me.
I broke into a sprint, something I could hardly do considering the amount of weed I had smoked
over that week.
I could hear them running behind me.
Now, I'm a fast runner.
I could easily outrun them back to my house.
The only issue was that the route I had taken
would force me to go either through a normal road
or a dingy, slippery river path called Twizzle Bridge.
In the dark after a rainstorm,
Twizzle Bridge is a death wish.
The stone steps are mossy,
and one misstep will lead you crashing into the river below.
Obviously, then, I would pick the normal road.
As I got to the corner that would bring me onto that road,
my stomach sank.
There was heavy maintenance going on, completely blocking every way to get across.
There likely was a single pathway as there normally is, but I didn't see it.
It was dark in my mind was preoccupied.
Even if the road was inaccessible, Twistle Bridge was not a viable option.
As I ran, I began to formulate a plan.
I would hide somewhere until Greg ran.
and passed, before sneaking back through Twizzle Bridge.
I ran for what felt like miles, yet I knew it was heartily 500 meters.
There truly was nowhere to hide.
I saw the entrance to a park called Bally Menick.
I went there a lot when I was younger, so I knew the paths off by heart.
If I was going to hide somewhere, then this would be it.
I looked behind me, and I saw that I had at least 50,000.
50 meters on them. I ran into the park and started running through the trees. I cut my arms at
least 50 times and bumped into at least 20 trees, but despite the pain, I continued running until
I was certain that I was clear of them. I heard Greg run into the wooded area that I was in,
slowing down. They were looking for me. I crouched down behind a large tree. I relied on the sound
of Greg's footsteps to know where they were.
And then they talked.
Ollie, stop hiding.
They kept walking around.
I don't want to hurt you.
I just want to talk about what happened.
I'm really sorry.
I messed up.
I just need you to forgive me.
There was a remarkable sincerity in his voice,
which was overshadowed by the fact that he had threatened my mates with a knife
and was chasing me.
around Holywood.
Once I determined they were walking the wrong way, I slowly crept the other way until I saw the path
again.
I got onto the path and quietly walked towards the entrance.
I looked back to make sure that Greg wasn't nearby and then started running again.
I got to Twizzle Bridge where I turned my flashlight on and carefully walked down the steps.
Once I was out of Twizzle Bridge, I instantly called the police.
I had no evidence, which, back in 2020, was the reason we hadn't phoned them yet.
Yet I knew that with everyone who had experienced the events as they had unfolded,
maybe the police could at least try to do something.
An officer came to me, while the rest went to Bally Menick to look for Greg.
I told the officer everything from the start until now.
I explained every detail with the exception of what Ryan was doing out in Glenline,
and that late at night.
The next day, Matt, Patrick, Ryan, Rowan, and I were all brought to the police station
just out of Hollywood to ask us questions about what had happened.
With all of our stories matching, I think they believed us.
I was told that they didn't find them in Ballymenick the night before, but they would be
looking for them.
It's been a month, and I've heard nothing of it.
though I nor any of my friends have seen them since.
Unfortunately, that's the end of the story.
I doubt that I'll ever see Greg again, which is a good thing, but the story isn't just about Greg.
It's about people like them who hide in the shadowy cracks of small, idyllic towns, lurking around.
Greg was around my age now when they first revealed their true nature.
Now that I'm as old as they were, it sickens me even more to think about what must have been going on inside their head.
Greg is mentally unstable, which was likely worsened by their drug issues.
Deep inside is probably still the same kid, who always treated people with respect, played rugby with his mates, knew almost everyone in town, but that kid is dead.
because whatever Greg is now is completely different to that kid.
And so, as I finish writing this, I want to ask you all something,
how well do you know your town?
People have secrets, and small towns like mine are the perfect places to keep those secrets,
to either spread rapidly or fade away into obscurity
as those responsible for heinous acts carry on living life, with no chance of ever being finally
and satisfyingly reprehended.
Hi there, Raven.
This is a long story, but it is true.
I'm not sure what it was that my friend, who passed away not that long ago, and I had seen that night.
Anyway, here we go.
I'm from Adelaide, Australia.
This was going back either to 1989 or 1990.
My friend Tony and I were just teenagers about that time.
It was night time, around nine or so, and close to around Easter.
I met Tony in our local football oval, just to hang around and chat like we usually do.
We sat on a bench near the goalpost and just were talking about what teenagers talk about.
About 20 minutes had passed since we sat down, and I realized that Tony went absolutely quiet for some reason.
I only realized this while I was looking at the ground and asked him something, and he didn't respond.
I looked up and turned to face him, and I saw his mouth wide open, and his eyes bulging out of the sockets.
I said, Hey, Tony, what's wrong?
Then I quickly looked towards the direction that he was fixed at, and saw nothing.
But then I basically went cheek to cheek and slowly turned my sight to where he was looking,
and that's when I saw what had made him quiet.
Across the oval on the opposite side where the goalposts are,
I saw what I thought at first was a tree trunk on fire.
I said to Tony,
some idiot set that tree on fire.
But the longer I looked, the clearer it got.
There was no tree on fire, because there was no tree where this pillar of fire stood.
Then, while both of us were looking at this thing, staring,
the two of us got up in unison and started walking towards this thing.
While walking, I blinked my eyes, rubbed them, and even turned away and then looked again.
but that thing was still there.
I pinched myself hard to make sure that I was not hallucinating.
Also at that time, I noticed that there were no cars on the main road that was alongside the Oval,
and no wind, no noises of anything really, just the sound of our feet walking on the grass.
We walked to the middle of the Oval, basically where the cricket pitch is and stopped.
We were staring at a nine-foot-tall, human-shaped entity on fire.
Now, this fire was not orange like you see when you're lighting up a lighter,
but this was a very red-looking flame.
Tony turned and bolted,
running back to where we first saw this thing,
but I went even closer,
maybe eight more meters and then stopped.
Then I looked at this thing's feet,
and then slowly started to look at this thing's feet,
look up. I saw the shape of its legs, waist, torso, head, and hair. Now, where this thing stood,
it looked like the wind was making its long hair fly up about to its ends. It also had this
almost dull white aura around him. I have to mention that when we were walking towards it,
it was almost like we were being controlled. I had no fear, but
when I saw the aura around this entity, a small knot of fear in my gut got bigger and bigger,
until all of my body screamed to get the hell out of there.
That's when I turned around and ran for my life.
I remember just seeing Tony clumsily jump the chain-link fence, about waist height.
The poor dude's legs were not working well.
In that exact time, I saw another friend of ours, Brian, who was walking and was walking
along the footpath. Brian was 18 at that time, who Tony then ran towards and wrapped his arms
around the waist of our friend, and was crying with snot coming out of his nose, and trying to speak.
But he wasn't making sense. Our friend Brian said, what the hell? Get off of me. What are you doing?
And tried to push Tony off of him, and that's when I jumped over the fence and said to Brian,
and, dude, did you see anything, or do you see anything at the oval at goalpost?
And, with an angry tone, he said no.
With that, Tony let go of Brian and ran back home, and I did the same.
It wasn't until the next morning that I called Tony and asked him if he could tell me what was it that he'd seen that last night.
When he told me that he saw a tall human on fire, that's when I saw a tall human on fire, that's when I
said, yeah, I saw the same.
It took maybe two years after that.
Whenever I used to cross that Oval to go home,
I refused to look at the direction of where that fireman stood.
Now, I'd like to know,
was this a fire elemental or some evil entity that we saw that night?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
And thank you for taking you for taking it.
the time to read this Raven. I also want to say that I love listening to your narrations of
stories that you tell. They are fantastic. Well, thank you. Now, I want to preface this story
by stating that I'm a very analytical person. I'm a technical business analyst for God's sake,
so my livelihood is to analyze and find reasoning behind every situation. But it's to the point
where I can't deny that something is living in my family home, and it imitates my mom.
I live in Queensland, Australia.
In about 2004, we moved into a very old Queenslander home.
Google Queenslander home, and you'll see the type of house I'm talking about.
It was a big fixer-upper, with very high ceilings, and a beautiful deck that caught the summer breeze perfectly.
It was the first house built in the entire house.
street, over 150 years ago, and used to be a celery farm.
Random, I know.
About 15 years ago, my cousin was sleeping over one night, we were very close, and she told me
all about her paranormal experiences.
For context, she grew up in Indonesia and her mother was apparently into black magic.
So she has seen and experienced a lot of the paranormal.
Is there anything in my house? I asked her.
Yes, she replied.
She sits on the window sill of your mom's room.
Is it bad? I asked.
Not too sure if I actually wanted to hear the answer.
Just don't bother it, she said, shutting down the conversation.
Fast forward a few years, I was sitting on my bed studying with the door open.
I then see my mom walk down the hallway with the washing basket about to put on a load of laundry.
About five seconds later, I see her walk down the hallway with the washing basket going the same direction she was before.
I was baffled.
How could she walk the same direction twice?
I tried to shake it off, thinking it was just my tired mind playing tricks on me.
After all, I was studying and it was late.
About a year passes, and I had forgotten the spooky incident of my mum walking in the same direction twice.
It was a Friday afternoon, and I had my best friend over, and we were hanging out in the kitchen talking to my mom.
Mum was cooking dinner, and me and my friend were just chatting away.
My brother then appears from his room.
Where's dinner? he asked.
Still another 13 minutes away, mum replies.
But you just...
came into my bedroom and told me dinner was ready.
We all froze still, silent.
Chills ran up the back of my spine as I remembered the incident that happened a year prior.
No, I didn't, Mom responded.
Yes, you did, my brother exclaimed.
You knocked, opened my door, walked into my room, and told me that dinner was ready.
I can vouch for my mom that she did not do this.
after all I was with her the entire time.
My brother shook his head.
Perhaps I'm imagining things and walked back to his room.
I knew he wasn't imagining things.
From there, things got weird, but only for me.
My brother never had another experience, and neither did my mom.
My placid dog, a big fat golden lab, would jump up from her sleep and growl,
growl and bark at the corner of the room.
Doors that I closed would open up behind me, and I always, always, felt like something did not want me there.
Fast forward a few years, I had moved out of home and was asked by my mom to dog sit while she went away for the weekend.
I did.
It was a hot summer night, and I was in the spare bedroom with the air conditioning on freezing cold.
Then, at the exact same time, the air conditioning turned off, my phone went to do not disturb,
and the bedroom door flung open.
I don't mean the door creaked open, I mean flung, as if someone swung it open in anger.
I jumped up and ran out of the room, calling my boyfriend freaking out.
He calmed me down, and for whatever reason, I stayed at the house.
As a horror film fanatic, I know that this was a dumb move.
It then came time for bed, so I went to take the dog outside to go potty before bringing her back in.
She's a stubborn old thing, so I have to physically go outside and stand in the backyard with her.
Otherwise, she will not go.
Whilst we were outside, and the dog was sniffing around trying to find her toilet spot for that evening,
I felt something.
I don't know how to describe it, because I didn't actually see anything, but I felt something that looked like my mother at the end of the backyard, standing and looking directly at me.
I know that sounds weird, but the feeling was so strong.
People will say it was your mind playing tricks on you, but it wasn't.
Because I have never before nor since had a feeling like that.
It was like I was seeing something without actually seeing.
it, I sensed it, and I sensed it strong.
She was in a nightgown, blonde shoulder-length hair, looking just like my mother, except cold
and motionless and angry.
I rushed the dog back inside and went to bed.
Needless to say, I didn't sleep well that night.
Whatever it was imitating my mother, it did not like me.
It never showed itself to my mom or brother, but for some reason loved to torment me.
That was until recently.
I was over at my mom's for dinner, and the topic of ghost stories came up.
I brought up all the experiences I'd had at that house,
and how I found it so strange that Mom never experienced it.
Mum looked at me with a blank stare, almost as if she was trying to hold something in.
What is it? I asked.
well, the other week, something happened.
She began to tell me the story which finally made her realize I was telling the truth.
Except this time it imitated someone else.
Mum was with her friend on the balcony having some tea.
Hey, where's the bathroom?
Her friend asked.
Just down the hallway, Mum replied.
Her friend then got up to go to the bathroom.
From the balcony, you can pretty much see every.
everything from the house as it looked straight down the hallway.
Mum looked down, drinking her afternoon tea, and when she looked back up, she saw her friend
walk out of the toilets and into my mom's bedroom.
Hey, friend's name, Mom shouted out.
What are you doing?
No response.
Friend's name?
Mum shouted a bit more, getting up from her seat to go and see why she went into her room.
as she was about to walk down the hall, there appeared her friend, walking out of the toilet.
There was nobody in her bedroom.
I don't know what this thing is that imitates people in my mom's house, but I know it's not nice.
It's not friendly, and it does not want me around.
All I can say is, I'm glad that I moved the hell out.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
so I was riding with my wife and my sister's husband.
I was in the back of the car due to the fact that I had to sit sideways to fit into the car.
I was sitting facing the side window, and I saw this Mustang Mach 1.
For those of you that don't know, it's a muscle car from the 70s that is considered one of the best Mustangs.
This Mustang was in the process of being restored,
I guess.
It had a flat paint job, and the body looked a little rough.
However, the engine was sounding nice.
So I shot this guy a thumbs up, as my brother was also big into muscle cars.
I knew the amount of work that went into getting an old car to sound like that.
He smiled at me and gave me a thumbs up back, and then revved his engine.
This is where it gets bad.
Trigger warning is this involves injuries and death after this point.
After he revved his engine, it seemed like something went wrong.
The car leaped forward and he looked surprise.
That was all I could see at that time because he was past us and moving fast down the road.
The car lurched to the side towards the curb and impacted hard.
I watched a burst of dust and debris fly from under the car.
I think his rear tire blew.
This caused him to rebound and fly across the lanes of traffic into oncoming.
He then hit a minivan head on, and the both just stopped.
My brother-in-law stopped his car.
My wife and I jumped out to see if we could help.
My wife had some medical training, and I have had some
first aid training through work.
She went to check on the minivan, and I went to check on the Mustang.
My brother-in-law was getting out flares to warn other drivers.
This part still gets to me because I feel partly responsible.
When I got to the Mustang, the driver was partially arched over the bench seat.
The Mustang's bench seat didn't have a headrest like modern cars.
So just below his shoulders was over the seat.
I know this may sound cliche,
but I saw the light go out of his eyes.
I knew that he was dead.
I had just watched him die.
I still went up to check his pulse, but there was nothing.
I can't help but blame myself,
partly for the thumbs up.
Maybe if I hadn't done that,
that he wouldn't have revved his engine, and then this whole thing wouldn't have happened.
The driver and the passenger and the other vehicle were okay.
One had a broken wrist, and I don't remember if the other had anything, but minor injuries.
I do have to say that the paramedics got there fast.
By the time I checked the Mustang driver's pulse and stepped back, the aid car had already
arrived.
The paramedic confirmed my assessment.
and then moved on to the minivan.
Thank you, Raven.
I was listening to your road trip stories, and was reminded of this.
Keep up the great work.
This story may seem a bit out there, but I have to get it off my chest.
Last year, my family moved into this old house that my grandpa used to own.
My grandpa rented it out to another family, and they had decided to move out of the state.
and since my grandpa is entering the palliative years of his life,
which I know sounds a bit morbid, but he does have cancer and there's not much that can be done for him.
Anyways, since that's happening, my grandpa went ahead and made a deal with my dad that would allow us to own the house,
and he decided that it would be our family home.
So we moved in.
And from day one, it was clear that something was off.
At first it was just, oh yeah, this old house has some quirks, but it became something more pretty quickly.
It started small enough.
I would find stuff moved around my room and think that it was my little brother.
My books that I kept on my desk would end up on my floor.
My chair would be by my closet.
I would always yell at Aden about it, asking why he was going into my room.
but then after a while he started complaining about things moving in his room and things disappearing,
and then I would find some of them in my closet.
Again, at first I thought he was doing this to mess with me, but he was seven.
And while it would be a pretty good prank, it just didn't seem like him.
My parents pretty much ignored our complaints, but it kept happening, so we kept telling them.
Then one Friday night, things got real.
I was up late.
Everyone else was asleep, and I was sitting at my desk on my laptop, working on schoolwork.
I know, super exciting way to spend a Friday night as a teenager.
I jumped when I heard the sound that was like a creaking noise, like someone was walking on the stairs.
I figured it was probably just one of my parents going down, but then it kind of clicked that,
In order for them to go down the stairs, they would have to have walked past my door,
which they hadn't.
My door was open.
I poked my head out, and the hallway was empty.
As soon as I look out, the creaking noise just stops.
I'm thinking, okay, that's weird, but whatever.
Fast forward to a couple of days later, and I was much in the same position.
It was later in the night.
I was on my computer doing whatever, and out of the corner of my eye I see someone walk into my room.
I jumped and turned to look at whoever it was, but there was no one there.
I stepped out of my room and looked down the hallway. No one's there. I think maybe someone went
downstairs, and whatever I saw was my mind tricking me into thinking they were coming into my room.
so I headed downstairs to see who it was.
But again, there was nobody there.
Then, when I turned to walk back up the stairs, the lamp in the corner of the room clicked on.
This isn't a smart bulb or anything other than just an old lamp from a garage sale that sat on a corner table.
In order for it to turn on, it had to be clicked on manually.
I noped back up the stairs and shut my door,
deciding I would just go to sleep.
Then, my mom
had an experience.
It's important to note that my mom
is a no-nonsense, skeptical person,
and she was pretty annoyed
with my brother and I telling her about the
weirdness, to the point that she
told us that it was a quote-unquote
forbidden topic.
Silly, yes, but
it was what it was.
However, one morning, a few
weeks after the lamp thing,
I come downstairs in the morning, and she
standing in the kitchen staring out the window, and she looks white as a ghost, no pun intended.
I asked her what was wrong, and when I spoke, she nearly jumped out of her skin.
Like, she was super deep in thought.
At first she tried to say nothing, but I pried a bit.
She ended up telling me that she woke up in the middle of the night last night,
and she swore that she saw someone standing in the room at the foot of their bed.
She said that she thought it was me, but after focusing on it, she could tell that it was masculine,
and when she sat up in a panic, it just sort of faded away.
My dad came down and made a joke about it, but I could see that my mom was seriously shook.
After this, my mom actually went through a really tough period where she had insomnia,
and couldn't sleep in her room.
It actually caused a really rough patch in my parents' marriage.
My mom would sleep in their room and would have these terrible nightmares,
and swear that there was something hovering over the bed the whole time.
My dad didn't see it, so, of course, he struggled with how to navigate it.
For him, it was just a stressful situation where my mom would sleep on the couch downstairs,
because it was the only way that she could actually sleep.
After a while, we were able to work the problem out,
and I volunteered to swap rooms with them.
I was willing to put up with it if it meant that they could be okay,
and that my mom could get through the issues.
But was weird?
After we swapped rooms, it all seemed to stop.
She stopped having nightmares and stopped having insomnia.
My brother and I stopped having things moved around,
and I never saw any more moving shadows.
I'm not saying what this all was.
because it seemed like a weird haunting, but also why would it just stop like that when we changed rooms?
In the end, all I can say is that it was weird, and I cannot explain it.
Take it as you will. I'm just happy that it seems to be over.
I have been a fan for about two years now, and I finally mustered up the gall to submit my stories.
I'm from South Africa, and we have every bit the weird and wonderful and outright scary happening here, but that's a story for another time.
I apologize for being wordy and this being long.
I experience what you would call lucid dreams.
I've been having these types of dreams ever since I can remember, although I only began to take notice of them once I became an adult.
My sister seems to think there's some type of clairvoyance that's been passed down from our mother, but heck if I know.
In November or December of 2021, I was gravely ill and on strong medications plus bed rest.
During one of my fevers, I had one of my dreams.
I'll premise this by saying that my house is very nearby to the area where everything takes place,
and that in my dreams, all of them,
home is familiar but the setting is different.
An example, my house will look different,
but the interior is the same.
Anyway, in the dream,
I'm in the town square when water begins to rise
and people begin to flee.
In an attempt to flee, we get into vehicles with each other,
mind you, we're all strangers here,
and we're crossing the bridge,
to get to safety, and at this point, the water is so high that the bridge is beginning to bob.
We managed to get across just in time, and while driving up to higher ground, the end of the bridge
were small businesses and residential areas, so the higher ground.
The banks burst, and the brown swirling waters of the river spew over, flooding the road
and into people's yards and businesses.
As fate would have it, the water came to a stand just one block away from my house.
Talk about Lucky.
I began dreaming this every time I had a fever until the first week of January 2022.
I was freaked out about it, and my partner told me to call home to see if everyone was okay,
since I live in a different province from them.
I told my sister about my dream, and she said maybe it wasn't indication that I'd be crying soon.
Our mom was fighting cancer, so we thought she would pass, and that the breaking of the riverbank was us breaking down, but that wasn't the case here.
Lo and behold, the very next week, my hometown was receiving heavy downpours and rising river levels to the point that it burst the bank,
and flooded the neighborhoods, falling just short, and, you've guessed it, one block away from my house.
My partner sat in awe of the news, saying that I saw the future.
He was reading an article which stated that total strangers pulled together in vehicles to escape the floods in town,
and that the bridge swayed as the rapid waters overtook the bridge.
I, on the other hand, was freaking out because I began to wonder if I dreamt of death, would it come true?
I have since had a few other dreams come true, but nothing quite like this.
This is the craziest thing to ever happen to me, and I live in Baltimore.
Just to explain, I say the Baltimore joke because I've seen murders, bodies,
kidnapped at gunpoint as a teen, and more.
But this messed with my head more than all that.
This happened to me and my friend when I was about 17 or 18,
and is the only paranormal thing that has ever happened to me.
I've been thinking about this experience more and more,
and I don't know why.
It's so crazy that it's unbelievable, and I wouldn't blame me for touting it,
but people who know me know that I don't lie about stuff.
Might be a little bit of a read, but maybe you'll find it interesting.
So, here goes.
So, living in Baltimore, there is a place called Lock Raven Reservoir, and it's out in the sticks.
It's quick to get to, though.
Baltimore is weird like that.
10 minutes one way, woods, 10 minutes the next way.
The ghetto.
So, we would drive out to Lock Raven and smoke while driving the empty country road.
While on those roads is a turn-off to a park.
It's been a while, but I'm kind of sure that it's Cromwell Park.
And it's not the kind of park you think.
It's more just woods with trails.
And you can only get there by driving.
Roads way too small and dangerous to walk.
Well, me and my friend,
went there one night to smoke.
It was about 1 a.m. and we were parked in the parking lot, which again is just a few spots
for cars made from gravel.
In front, behind, into the right are trees leading to nothing but more woods.
To the left, I'm driving, is a field.
The field goes a little more than the football field, I would say, and a football field wide
until, you guessed it, more trees.
Yes, very good.
So, we have a CD case that I'm breaking the stuff up on when my friend prepares the blunt.
It's pretty dark out, except for some moon and starlight shining, and I just look to my left,
and on the edge of the field where the trees start, I see what appears to be someone with the flashlight.
It's far away, so I'm not worried about it,
and I just say something to my friend, like, what the hell is someone doing in the woods,
all the way out here at this time.
I continue breaking it up, and when I'm done, I pass it over to my friend.
He dumps it, and rolls it, and we lay the CD on the dash.
While I'm waiting, I look to my left again, and now the lights up in a tree.
Not real high, just a few feet.
So I comment again, why is someone climbing trees at this time in the middle of nowhere?
He's just like, hell if I know.
And then we start to hear some pops going off.
Now, I'm like, okay, he's lighting fireworks off.
That's weird.
The pops keep happening more and more.
I had no idea that all hell was about to break loose.
I'm looking over there, and the flashlight turns off, and the pops keep going.
For some reason, I had a thought.
and when I thought it, my stomach got that scared feeling.
And I said out loud to my friend, getting the goosebumps thinking about this,
why can't we see the fireworks going off?
At that exact moment, the explosions got super loud and traveled across the field toward us,
like a string of explosions coming at us.
It made it across the field in probably three to four seconds.
The car was,
engulfed in explosions.
I could feel them in my guts like fireworks.
The CD case vibrates off the dash, and they're just going off like crazy.
My friend, who's been through some stuff in his life, his mom stabbed his dad in his sleep
while he was in the next room as a 13-year-old, so he's not easy to scare.
But he's in tears, freaking out, begging me to leave, just absolutely
pleading. I'm saying no. I want to know what the hell is happening. I turned my car back on because
I felt bad for this kid in tears, and I was going to leave, but it all stopped as soon as the car
turned on. I remember him saying that it sounded like a stampede of horses going around the car.
The area had fights from the Revolutionary War and redcoats and blue coats in that area,
and it was known for being sympathetic to the redcoats
and battles being fought in the area.
I can't say that's what it was, or ghosts or what,
just saying that's what came to mind.
I emailed the park 10 or so years later,
and I asked if anyone has ever said anything
about anything paranormal to them before.
They said no.
Not one thing, ever.
To this day,
I'm left perplexed at what the hell happened that night.
It's mind-blowing.
I thought only movies had this kind of stuff, but since then, I am way more open-minded.
I still believe a lot of people lie, or are just crazy.
I hear stories on here where I think, bro, come on, you're full of it or need help,
but this is what happened to me.
Believe it or not, I don't care.
But it's the only thing to ever happen to me.
And I felt the urge to tell someone.
So, thanks for reading, if you did.
I've lived in many haunted houses in my life, each with their own experiences and stories,
but for the most part, human in nature.
This was the first time that I experienced something I would call inhuman.
My dad was in the army at the time, and had been stationed to a base in South Carolina.
He found a house for rent and showed us pictures of it.
It was a single story at the end of a roundabout in the middle of the woods.
You could see the other house off in the distance through the trees.
I looked at the pictures, and whenever I looked at the pictures of the outside,
a voice in my head would start screaming at me.
It's in the woods.
It's in the woods.
Nothing on the inside, just the outside.
when we got there, as we are unpacking, a cop pulled up.
Never got out of the car but talked to my mom through the window about how he knew the previous owners,
and just wanted to check on things.
We never saw the cop again.
Whenever I would go outside, I would get the sensation that something was hiding in the tree line,
and that it wanted me to follow it.
I felt like it was trying to be playful and mischievous.
I would also see figures walking by the windows and heard scratching from outside.
One night, I woke up hearing something moving around outside.
I went to look outside, peeking through the blinds.
I saw something crouching in front of the window.
If it was standing, it would be on two legs and seven feet tall.
Given I could see the silhouette of shoulders and knees, and it was covered in fur.
I was freaked out.
Days later, my parents had taken my brother to the airport, and I was home alone.
I was doing laundry and saw that my room was brighter than normal.
I figured that I left my bedside lamp on, so I went to turn it off.
I stood in my doorway and saw that my lamp was off.
Looking up, my ceiling light, which had never worked since we moved in, was on.
I texted my mom asking if she had the light fixed.
She said no.
Eventually I left for Army Basic Training, but my mom kept me up to date on what was going on.
She said that she was hearing the scratches and noises.
One night she was talking to my dad by the door and said that they both heard someone run up on the porch and rattle the door handle.
My dad whipped open the door, but nothing was there.
We never got answers as to what was in the woods or the house, but it was my first experience.
experience with an inhuman entity.
This poster left two stories.
Story one.
I'm a Titanic enthusiast.
If there are any exhibitions on, I will go and view what's on show.
When I went and watched the film, more than once, I came out so angry at what allegedly
happened.
To this day, I think I was on that ship in a past life.
Before I go on, condolences to the families of the people lost.
in that mini sub-accident.
There, for the grace of God, go, because if I won a lot of money, I would spend it to go
to see that wreck.
Anyways, a few years ago, whilst in Las Vegas, the exhibition with The Big Piece was on
at the Luxor.
So off I went.
I got my ticket, and I went.
Now, I'm used to air-conditioned buildings, but the second I walked in,
it just gave me the creeps.
The longer I stayed, the worse it got.
I was really glad to get back outside just to get the chill out of my bones.
Story 2.
I had cause a few years ago to go to Los Angeles.
A couple of times on my trip, I went to Long Beach and did the Queen Mary tours.
Well worth the money.
Upon finishing both the normal and ghost tours, I wandered out onto the deck.
The second I was there, it felt like someone was standing right behind me.
I glanced back, but of course there was no one there.
The feeling got worse and worse, so much so that I nearly ran off the ship.
Hey there, to start off, I've had some weird, odd, and unexplainable events happened to me.
But the one that I'm writing about is probably the weirdest one.
So, it was my best friend's birthday party, and we were waiting for all of our friends to arrive.
She suggested that we go into her room while we wait.
Just a note, it was me, her, and her step-sister, who was the same age.
We headed up to her room and sat on her bed talking about stuff going on in school and stuff like that,
until we heard a subtle knock from inside her closet.
Her sister got up immediately and whipped open the door.
She stood there staring into the closet.
I asked my friend what was going on and she said watch and look.
I looked on the closet, and a few seconds later, two pairs of jeans fell from the shelf.
They both laughed.
I sat on the bed in shock trying to comprehend what I had just witnessed.
Her dad came upstairs and gave upstairs and,
yelled at them to stop throwing stuff on the floor, and they both said okay.
When he left and closed the door, both of them told me that that happens often, and they
haven't told their parents about it yet.
My friend told me that they lived in a house built in the 1800s.
It looked that old as well, and there was bound to be at least a few lost souls or evil
entities of sorts.
I soon realized that this was true later.
When everyone arrived, we all took turns playing on an oculus.
They all left except my friend's step-sister and my other friend from school.
I was playing until I felt something hard pushed me over.
I fell hard, hitting my head on a wood box.
Thank goodness I didn't get any injuries.
I yelled at both of them asking why they threw a mattress or something at me,
and they said they didn't.
when I took the oculus off, they were sitting on the bed, on the other side of the room.
So I just assumed that my body just gave out.
The thing that scared me most was when we were eating cupcakes.
Don't get me wrong, it was scary.
We got the cupcakes and all, and we sat down.
The cupcake flew out of my hand and landed icing first on the dirt.
This was outside.
I picked it up, and the two dots were compressed into the cupcake itself.
This wasn't even the scariest part.
I showed my friend who had the birthday party, and they said that was weird,
because she had a cat and a dog that died in the same place that we were eating,
and it was on the date of the birthday party.
And lastly, the thing that made shivers run down my spine.
We all went inside after playing, and we went inside to watch the new Little Mermaid movie.
There was a corner in the living room, and a couch sat in front of the corner with a little space or hideout, as my friend called it.
When Ariel was singing part of your world, a loud whisper came from that corner, and was mimicking the song and everyone heard it.
The parents didn't hear it, though, which everybody thought,
was weird. Everyone was trying to convince the parents, and the parents did say this, though,
that someone had died in that house on November 15th of 1989. The exact year, and month, and only two
days before the original Little Mermaid was released. I live about 30 minutes from the beach,
and decided to take a drive there nearing nighttime to help center myself.
I've been in a bit of a bad place emotionally, and in general, in the past few months a lot of big life changes have happened.
My long-time partner and I very recently broke up, and this has been the hardest of all.
This beach spot is a place that we spent a lot of time together and with friends, and it felt like a safe space for me.
Part of me sees us getting back together down the line, but no matter what I need to try to now.
navigate this part of my life right now.
Anyway, I just really connected with this location,
and felt really peaceful,
and happy,
and hopeful towards the next chapter of my life,
which is saying a lot,
since I've been very depressed.
It was around 5 p.m. when I showed up,
and as I made my way down the rather long beach path,
I saw eight rabbits,
at all distances,
in different parts of the crossing,
sand roads. I counted because I was shocked to see any. For years, I've really connected with the
symbol of the rabbit, and have on rare occasions had them cross my path when I needed them to.
After spending a few hours on the beach, watching the sun go down, and the moon shine,
I wrote some intentions in the sand and let the ocean wipe them away. It was beautiful.
As I walked down the long path again to head back to my car.
I saw eight frogs, and then a shooting star.
I'm just surprised.
I've never seen more than three of these things at a time.
I've always connected with frogs as well.
I don't know what's up with these things, and the number eight specifically tonight,
but I felt at peace.
I wonder if any of you have any insights on such things.
Hi, Raven.
It's me again.
This event happened this past Wednesday
when my hubby and I took a walk to our local gas station in the evening for water refills
and some ice cream as the spring heat unleashed its wrath upon us.
I'll premise this by saying that it is not unusual for me in particular
to notice strange movements in the sky as that's my favorite thing to do.
Most of the time it's what we assume to be satellites.
the Starlink type.
And, if we're lucky, a few shooting stars.
Where I'm based in South Africa, we don't really see shooting stars often, unfortunately.
On to the occurrence.
We had walked barely 30 meters out the gate when I see a bright flashing red light.
At first I thought it was a reception tower, but my brain was like,
no, girl, that's not it.
and I turned to my hubby pointing to it.
He looks up and nonchalantly says,
it's just an airplane love,
and carries on as if it's just a normal thing.
To be fair, it is a normal thing to see airplanes in the night sky,
so maybe I was just freaked out.
Who knows?
Anyways, at this point,
I'm not having the airplane explanation
and stop abruptly in the middle of the road to prove him otherwise.
because for some strange reason that I can't shake,
I point up again and we stare at the sky for a good few minutes.
I reiterate that it is not moving at all,
and this is not normal.
It continues to flash bright red,
and we walk on slowly with me not moving my eyes,
until it suddenly just blips out of existence,
like it was never there.
strangely, I felt relieved, and while I sit here in type, I cannot tell you why.
Hubby goes on to say that it must have just been a satellite, and while I guess that could be a
possibility, that feeling of uneasiness says otherwise to me.
Has anyone experienced anything similar, or am I just kooky?
Because this lives in my head.
Rent free.
