Starting point is 00:01:10 Hey there. I've been listening to your channel for a few months now, and hearing some of your older videos reminded me of an event that happened to me and a friend last year, actually. This happened when me and my friend Morgan took a road trip to Las Vegas. It wasn't the first time we had done this, and we've also learned a few things since our first trip, so by now, I felt that we've been. were a bit more prepared.
Starting point is 00:01:39 I took my car to the shop to make sure everything was working as it should be, and then we made a well-prepped cooler of healthy snacks and drinks, as well as a few energy drinks. And we packed our bags and probably over-packed, but made sure that we had everything as well as some extras. I even refilled my emergency kit that I kept in my trunk. It had the normal first-aid stuff as well as a towel and a blanket. blankets, things like that. I had a few people making fun of me for my kit, including my boyfriend, saying that I was overdoing it.
Starting point is 00:02:17 But I always said I'd rather have it and never need it than, well, you know. I was living with Morgan and her sister at the time, which made it even more convenient for us, meaning we were able to leave when we wanted without wasting more time for meeting up. We stopped to have a light breakfast and coffee and then got on the road. The drive for the most part was pretty uneventful. I mean, it was a great drive. We did it in early spring so it wasn't cold and not too hot. It was honestly perfect.
Starting point is 00:02:52 We just didn't have anything crazy or hectic happen or get in the way. We had several planned stops on the way, including a national park and a museum, both of which were fantastic. I got to make my own G-Ode, and it had a beautiful amethyst in it. I believe we had just hit the Nevada border and decided to stop at a hotel for the night. We still had probably a day's worth of driving to do, so we wanted a place to stay and freshen up. The hotel was your average-looking hotel. We took our much-needed showers and enjoyed the included breakfast the next morning, then just headed back to our room to get out of there.
Starting point is 00:03:36 This is where things got pretty chaotic. We had probably only been on the road for about an hour, just talking or whatever, on a pretty open highway. There weren't many cars whatsoever on the road, which was pretty nice. But then I had a Jeep with dark tinted windows come up behind me. They weren't riding too close or anything, but it was just something I took notice of. However, they did start getting closer,
Starting point is 00:04:07 and I again made a mental note of it. However, it wasn't consistent. They would get close and then let off, and this would repeat. That's when I mentioned it to Morgan, because I thought if they were in such a rush, why not just go around? It wasn't a single-lane highway or anything, so they very well could have.
Starting point is 00:04:32 Morgan said something about them either just being an ass or trying to be intimidating and said not to worry about it too much at the time. However, it kept happening, and they were pushing it with how close they were getting, which made me lose my train of thought while we were talking. I pointed it out again to Morgan, and she turned back to look at it. We both agreed that it was getting weird,
Starting point is 00:04:59 and said that we should slow down. I was using cruise control, so I wasn't going under, and was probably going slightly over. We were hoping that they would grow impatient and finally just pass us. It looked like it was finally happening when the Jeep went around and was then in the lane next to me. They were parallel to me, and because of what they were doing, we both looked over at them.
Starting point is 00:05:27 The side windows were also done. dark, so we didn't see the driver until they rolled down their window. What we saw was some normal-looking guy, completely bald head, wearing some kind of plain t-shirt and sunglasses. Yet, I could tell by the wrinkles on his forehead and clenched jaw that he looked furious, and I had no idea as to why. I kind of looked at him with a, can I help you, look? Because I didn't know what his problem was. As mentioned, it's not like I was driving erratically or stopping him from going around. The guy then motioned for me to pull over, and I immediately shook my head no.
Starting point is 00:06:12 This only seemed to enrage him more as he began to yell at me and telling me to pull over. I think I speak for both of us when I say that we were starting to grow a bit uneasy. There weren't many cars around, and at that exact moment, we were. We were the only ones. The guy then slowed down and got back behind us, so Morgan immediately pulled out her phone and started recording it. I just continued driving, hoping to see an exit soon. I was trying to change the GPS to the next exit, or gas station, or anything that would put
Starting point is 00:06:49 us around more people, when we felt the car jolt forward a bit. This guy had now hit my car. Morgan started screaming and we were both asking what the hell this guy was trying to do. Then he rammed us again. I'm trying to keep us on the road while having a panic attack when Morgan said that she was going to call the cops and turned back around in her seat. She was trying to explain to the dispatcher what was happening and we were struggling to give our location.
Starting point is 00:07:22 I knew the name of the highway but kept missing the mile markers due to being so obviously distracted. I was able to find it thanks to my GPS, and the operator instructing Morgan to check it. As they were talking to us about what to do, the guy again went to the next lane, windowed down, and started shouting something that I couldn't make out. I guess he wasn't satisfied because he then hit my car from the side, which made me swerve. I had to try to correct it so that I didn't run off the road. Morgan again was screaming to the operator what was happening when he hit us one more time, closer to the back, which caused a very hard fish tail to start.
Starting point is 00:08:10 And yes, I know how to correct a car when that happens before someone says something, but my efforts were in vain because the guy again managed to hit me, causing us to careen into the oncoming exit barrels, right at the exit that we were going to try to take. We slammed into it on the passenger side. Both of us were still conscious, but hurt, so we were completely aware that this guy had driven past, but backed up to look at us with a creepy smile before taking off again. That was the last time that we saw him. We sat there, sobbing, terrified that this guy might come back. And I was, of course, worried about how damaged my car was.
Starting point is 00:08:55 we weren't even in the same state that we lived in. How would we get home if it was totaled? It wasn't long before another car approached us and stopped to see if we were okay. It was an older guy, like a lot older, so we weren't exactly afraid of him. He just looked like a normal good Samaritan, honestly. I started explaining what happened while also trying to help Morgan find her phone. that, of course, went flying out of her hand. Once we found it, the operator was still on the phone,
Starting point is 00:09:32 which, by the way, after hearing the screams in the crash, I applaud them for still being there with us. We told them what had happened, and they explained that officers were almost there. I was able to get out of my door, and Morgan had to climb over to my side to get out. The old man stayed with us until the police arrived, and we gave him a hug, thanking him for trying to keep us calm, and offering his coffee to us.
Starting point is 00:10:01 We gave the police as much information as we could about the man and the vehicle, and how this came out of nowhere. They tried to play it off his road rage taken too far, but if so, it was only one-sided. Like I said, I never even saw the Jeep prior to him tailgating me. I didn't recognize the man, nor did Morgan. We tried to explain this to the police, but whether or not they believed us, they did agree that this was taken way too far. We had my car towed to the nearest auto shop, and the cops gave us a ride there for us to wait.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Sadly, the whole right side was smashed in, and we were unable to open the front passenger door, but just about everything under the hood, was still fine. They did replace the wheel on the passenger side since it was bent or something, and they tried to pull out some of the dents on that same side, but the door was still pretty difficult to open. Overall, we were really shaken up, and the fact that we were so close to our destination, we thought it would be a waste to turn back. Once we calmed down and the car was done, we took it slow, driving on some side roads until we were ready to get back onto the highway.
Starting point is 00:11:26 I was still super nervous about it, worried that somehow this guy may have exited or been in the same area, but, thankfully, we never had any more incidents. That's not to say that I didn't have a slight mental freak out any time I saw a Jeep or someone that was following too close. We did give the police our information in case they ever saw the Jeep or the guy, but as of me writing this, neither of us have heard from them. This experience was terrifying for both of us, but it also left us confused. Again, I get road rage. I've shamefully flipped some people off for cutting me off, but I would never try to risk their life.
Starting point is 00:12:16 On top of this, I have no idea what the hell I could have done to set this guy off. We do still go on road trips, Morgan and I together and with others, but I don't think that I'll ever forget the feeling I had that day, or feeling like I was being targeted, or even the feeling that someone wanted me dead, or at least severely injured. So if you're out on the road, just take precautions, make sure that people know where you are and how to read mile markers.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Oh, and always wear your seatbelt. I have a strange and creepy thing that happened to me a while back. And honestly, it's something that I genuinely cannot explain. I used to be a driver for a rideshare service that's pretty well known. And because of that, I was out on the road for a road for a car. a lot of the afternoon and evening. I would typically do the job until around 10 p.m. at night, and then head home from there, and go to bed to wake up to do my day job.
Starting point is 00:13:36 It was a rough schedule to follow, and I was losing a lot of sleep because of it, but it is what it is. This whole thing took place in mid-April, and we were getting hit with some pretty intense spring storms. Where I live, we get the main thing. rain and thunderstorms through April to the point of getting tornadoes. But money is money and I was at the point where I needed to get paid. Plus, rainstorms meant that there was a chance of more clients, because people don't want to walk out in the rain.
Starting point is 00:14:15 I was out taking the riders to where they needed to go, and I had finished what I planned to be my last ride, and I was heading back to the gas station. I then saw a young man walking on the side of the road, soaking wet. Part of me said that he was fine, but the other part of me thought that I should ask him if he was okay, at the very least, because I would want people to do that for me. I pulled over, careful not to splash him as I stopped, and rolled down the window asking if he needed a ride. At first he seemed a bit standoffish and hesitant, but after a few moments he nodded and thanked me,
Starting point is 00:14:58 then walked around and got into the passenger seat. I asked him where he needed to go, and he asked me if I could take him to the Walmart that was in town. I lived over in that direction, so I was more than willing to do so. I mentioned that I could get him there and mentioned that I did have to stop at the gas station, though, because I was about to be on E.
Starting point is 00:15:22 He said that was fine, and that he could use something to drink anyways. We headed off, and the whole time we were driving, he just kind of stared at the road, not saying anything. I didn't want to push him into any small talk if he wasn't comfortable. I just mentioned the storm and said it was pretty crazy, and he nodded with a slight smile. The whole ride, this guy looked like he was really upset, like he wanted to cry but was holding it back.
Starting point is 00:15:53 which was why I really didn't want to push him into chatting. We pulled up to the gas station, and I parked at the pump, and he just kind of stood around for a moment while I filled my tank. I then asked if he was going to go inside to get his drink, and he mentioned that he didn't have his wallet, that he left it behind. I could tell that this kid was going through a tough time, so I told him that I would buy his drink if he wanted it,
Starting point is 00:16:23 and again he seemed a bit standoffish. I said that it was fine, and that I would be happy to do so so long as he paid it forward and helped someone else out in need in the future. He nodded and again thanked me. We walked into the gas station, the guy at the counter greeted us, and as soon as we got in,
Starting point is 00:16:45 the guy said that he was going to use the restroom really quick. I said okay, and I watched him walk toward the back where the restroom were. I then went over and got my soda and then waited near the counter. After a few minutes, the clerk kind of looked at me and asked if I needed help with anything, and I said that I was just waiting for the guy that came in with me. He gave me a very confused stare. I mentioned that the guy I came in with had gone to the restroom, and then said that I was just giving him a ride to the Walmart. He then said,
Starting point is 00:17:21 you didn't come in with anyone, sir. I described the Kai in detail, and mentioned that when we walked in, he went straight to the restroom. The clerk said that that was impossible, because the restrooms were locked after 9 p.m. And in order to use them, you had to get the key, and he still had the key. He then pulled the key out from under the desk,
Starting point is 00:17:49 attached to a little keychain animal thing, and said that in order to get into the restroom, he would have had to have used that key. I was a bit confused. I watched the kid go into the restroom. Or at least I thought I did. I watched him go to the door and reach for it and then went to get my soda,
Starting point is 00:18:11 which was by the front counter. The restroom was in front of me the whole time until I was standing there by the counter, waiting for the guy to come out, at which point I was near the hole where it was. I asked if I could go check on him in the restroom because I was certain that he was in there, and the clerk said that that was fine.
Starting point is 00:18:33 He handed me the key, and I went to the restroom. I knocked, and when I got no answer, I unlocked it. It was completely empty, and it looked like it hadn't been used for a few hours. I looked back at the hallway and there was no exit there. It was just the one door to the restroom and the closet where all the soda syrup pumps were. There was literally nowhere to go in this area. He was nowhere to be seen.
Starting point is 00:19:05 At no point could he have exited this hallway with the restroom without me seeing him. There was no exit, hole, window, or method that he could have gotten out of the building. I walked up and just kind of stared at the clerk like, What the hell? He returned my very confused look and asked if I was okay. I kind of mumbled that I must have been losing my mind and just paid for my soda, thanking the clerk for his time and help. I walked out to my car and sat there in the driver's seat and just pondered what the hell this hall was.
Starting point is 00:19:43 There was no way for him to have gotten out of that station without me seeing him. outside of him somehow climbing through the ceiling, which, yeah, I don't think that happened. The clerk said that he didn't see me walk in with anyone, which makes me think that this kid never existed. But he got in my car, and I spoke to him, and I drove him to the gas station. I honestly have no idea what to make of this event, and it's one of those things that seriously messed with me for this last year. I swear that this kid existed. I swear he got in my car and walked into the station.
Starting point is 00:20:28 But everything else seems to point at him never having existed. Was this some kind of spirit? Did I give a ride to a ghost or some kind of paranormal anomaly? I have no clue. And I honestly don't think I'm ever going to know. So, the story may be a bit more bizarre than scary, but being personally involved in it made it pretty startling to me. Let me explain so it makes more sense. I used to work in a pretty large and popular department store back in 2017, and this took place around the holiday season of that year.
Starting point is 00:21:21 I worked on the floor, typically stalking shelves and bringing more stuff out from the back. I was one of the guys that got to ride around on one of those machines that carried pallets and stuff. It was fun. Sometimes I had to relieve a cashier for the break, which wasn't my favorite, but it definitely made the time fly by. While stalking, I often get to People Watch, and I really saw some interesting situations. I've seen old ladies fighting over lotions, parents who are too wrapped up in their phone or someone they were talking to to realize their kid was now playing in a different aisle near complete strangers. I've seen people steal the weirdest merchandise, and others bring in even weirder things.
Starting point is 00:22:09 But then there was her. The woman who sparked a sequence of events that would leave the entire store in a state of confusion. Now, I'll be honest here. She initially caught my attention because she was attractive. She had long dark hair and green eyes, and she had a cute smile that she flashed as she approached me. She even had a soft yet cheerful voice as she asked me about where something in the store was located. She thanked me and then walked away, leaving me to continue my work.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Fast forward to the shelf-stocking routine when I pushed my cart to another aisle, when I saw a jacket on the ground. Anointed first, thinking a customer decided they didn't want to be. want it and just stuffed it on a shelf, or maybe a kid was dragging it along and dropped it, I went to pick it up. But that's when I noticed there were no tags on it, and it definitely looked worn and not from our store. I tossed it on the side of my cart, planning on dropping it off at the lost and found
Starting point is 00:23:14 the next time I went up front. However, the odd discoveries continued. A few aisles later, I found a boot, and it was just the one at first. but just around the corner I saw the matching one. And these were definitely not from here. Someone had come into the store wearing them. The bottoms were pretty flat and worn out, but otherwise they looked pretty clean. Like these were obviously someone's favorite pair of boots.
Starting point is 00:23:44 My initial thought was that someone may be trying to steal a pair of shoes. It was a common trick that people tried. They would just wear the new pair out, leaving the old. old ones behind. But then I found a pair of jeans. Once again, the store that I worked at sold a very specific brand, and the ones that I found were not that brand. I had already put the jacket and boots up, so I hadn't put the clothing together at first. But then I spotted that woman again. This time, she was casually strolling through the store wearing nothing but her shirt and underwear. I remember standing there in confusion.
Starting point is 00:24:26 What exactly was I witnessing here? This woman that approached me maybe an hour earlier that seemed completely normal, was now strutting around the department store half naked. This finally made me put things together. The jackets, the boots, and the jeans, they had to have belonged to her. My confusion quickly turned to concern, and I immediately said, sought help. I found someone close by in the clothing department and had them call management. Being a male, I figured it would be better for a female to approach her due to her current state,
Starting point is 00:25:04 which is why I didn't. I didn't know if something happened, if she was under the influence or something, but I didn't want to make things worse. I escorted my co-worker to where I saw her, but unfortunately she was gone. They said that they would walk into the other. to keep an eye out for her, and I just went back to work, hoping to not find any more clothing. Alas, it wouldn't be so simple. A little while later I would find her shirt,
Starting point is 00:25:37 a shirt that I knew was hers based on the pattern that I specifically remembered. Now we have a woman walking around the store and only her undergarments, and yet we could not find her. Everyone with the walking knew this woman existed, and I can't believe that not a single customer would report it either. This could get dangerous.
Starting point is 00:26:00 If someone, God forbid, had not so good thoughts, or even if she left the store. It was freezing up here. Our winters are harsh and unforgiving in the north. She could easily die from hypothermia, if she had gone out there. I once again reported my findings, and they said that they'd,
Starting point is 00:26:22 were actually going to put someone at the doors to look for her too. It was about time for me to go to break, and I definitely felt like I deserved one at this point, so I made my way to the back area when I found something else alarming. A single pair of lone underwear, staring back at me right at the employee-only door. I wish that I could have thought that maybe it once again was dragged from somewhere, but no, given the circumstances, I knew what I was looking at. I ran over to the manager's office to let them know who also went to look at the discovery. The manager did something that we don't often have to do.
Starting point is 00:27:06 We locked the store down, and the manager called it in over the walkie. Everyone was on alert, looking for this woman who we pretty much were treating like a missing child at this point. It was kind of crazy. It had to be about 15 minutes into this, when there was some commotion towards the back of the store, and we saw a grown man nearly running away from the restrooms. One of the female managers that was in the back checked it out, and based on what the guy had said, it had to be the woman that we were looking for. He said that he went into the men's restroom and saw a nearly naked woman in there,
Starting point is 00:27:46 and that she had started screaming at him to get out. The manager went in and found her trying to climb over one of the stalls that were clearly open and unlocked. She tried to get her to calm down to see what was going on, but she said that she didn't even have the normal tell-tale signs of being intoxicated or on drugs. We gave her her clothes back to which she seemed indifferent about them, until the cops showed up and told her to put them on because it was cold outside. while she was nearly nude in the store, there were no charges pressed as far as I was aware, and she wasn't arrested.
Starting point is 00:28:26 They actually tried to help her get home. I never saw her again, and we never got answers to what the hell that was. I know that this wasn't exactly scary, but it was definitely one of the strangest experiences I have ever had. There were definitely some scary things that could have happened, but I'm glad that none of them did. And wherever she is, I hope she's doing okay, and staying dressed whenever she goes shopping.
Starting point is 00:29:07 Growing up, I knew that I was adopted. My parents were always very open about it with me, and they gave me as much information as they knew or could when I asked questions. They have and always will be my parents to me, but as I got older, I was curious about my biological parents. I wanted to know more about them, who they were, and what they looked like. Not to mention I thought it was important to know about any possible genetic or health concerns. So, with the information I was given by my parents and the adoption place that they went through,
Starting point is 00:29:50 I was able to learn more about my mother as she consented to be contacted by me if I wanted it. I spoke to my biological mother on the phone, and to my surprise, she was happy to hear from me, and the conversation just felt natural. Because of how well this went, I made plans to go and meet her in person. However, she lived in Utah, and my family and I lived in Wyoming, so I made a solo road trip out of it. My parents were even happy for me and encouraged it. I was in a great mindset at the time. Things were going well, and I felt like I was both getting closure and filling some holes in my life.
Starting point is 00:30:35 It was a great day to be on the road. The weather was perfect, and there was minimal traffic, and I was just enjoying the drive while also playing out different scenarios and making plans with my biological mother. However, as the sun was beginning to set, I started to become tired. I guess probably because I was too excited, I didn't really want to sleep yet. So, instead, I stopped to get a bite to eat, hoping that it would give me some energy and keep me going. It worked for a few hours, but ultimately I wasn't going to be able to avoid it.
Starting point is 00:31:14 I had taken long trips like this before on my own, and I didn't need it. need much, so I typically just slept in my car rather than getting a hotel room. I took the next exit and pulled into the parking lot of a store that was 24 hours. I felt that those were at least safer as there was always someone there, and, in the case that I needed to use the restroom, I had one available. I actually did go in the store. I think it was like a convenience store, but not a gas station, as there were no pump. I grabbed something to drink and used the restroom and started heading back to my car. As I was walking there, I started hearing someone shouting from behind me.
Starting point is 00:31:59 It was as if they were trying to get someone's attention, but it didn't sound alarming, scared, or angry. But since it was shouting, nonetheless, I turned around to see what was happening. I saw a normal-looking guy, maybe in his 40s. His hair was long and stringy, and he also had a pretty long beard. He was wearing jeans in a denim jacket with a dark-colored shirt underneath. To my surprise, he was waving me down. I stopped to hear him out, and as he caught up to me, he asked me if I had a cigarette. I apologized and told him I didn't smoke, and he seemed like he was trying to figure out something else to say or ask.
Starting point is 00:32:45 He then looked at my hand as I was carrying my bottle of tea and asked if I had anything else to drink. The guy seemed completely normal, and maybe just a little down on his luck or something, or hell. Maybe he was just a mooch and was trying to get away with anything he could for free. Either way, he wasn't being aggressive or annoying about it, so I pulled out the change that I had gotten from my purchase. I paid with a ten, so I had a five left and some ones that I just shoved into my pocket and gave it to the man. He smiled and seemed genuinely thankful for it, making a comment about how he would be able to get smokes and a drink with it. I just kind of smiled back and said something like, yeah, no problem. Enjoy your night.
Starting point is 00:33:35 He waved goodbye and headed back towards the store. I had parked close to the front and then drove it to the back of the lot. parked and settled in to sleep for the night. I drifted off to sleep pretty quickly, but then I remembered hearing what sounded like scratching. I was still in half of a sleep state and thought that it was just part of my dream. You know the feeling. Kind of like when you hear your alarm in your dream. But then when the sound became faster and a bit louder, it finally jolted me awake, and I looked around to find the source of the sound.
Starting point is 00:34:12 It didn't take me long to figure it out, because when I looked over at the passenger door, I saw the same guy from earlier messing with the door handle. I turned on my cab light and cracked the window on my side, the driver's side, to ask him what he was doing. The guy didn't even jump or look away from the handle when I did this, so I knocked on the passenger window to get his attention. He finally looked up at me, and with a deadpan look on his face, asked if I would let him in so that we could talk. However,
Starting point is 00:34:48 something seemed off. The monotone way that he said it and how he was persistent on trying the door put me on edge, so I didn't unlock the door or anything, but I asked what he wanted to talk about. He refused to answer. He just kept saying in the same robotic voice,
Starting point is 00:35:10 I just want to talk about things. Please, open the door. Again, that uneasy feeling was still there. And even though I had given this guy some money, there was no way I was going to let this stranger in my car, in a small enclosed area. I told him that I couldn't and that I needed to sleep, but he just shouted no at me and continued trying the handle.
Starting point is 00:35:36 But then started getting more aggressive with it. After this was going on for a few moments, Trying to figure out what I could do to get him to leave, I decided it was best to just leave myself. I had put my keys in the glove box, and as I went to grab them, this guy's demeanor changed. He began kicking the door and slamming into the window. I could see it slightly bending and began to worry that he was actually going to manage to break it. With my hands shaking, I tried to put the key in the ignition and start the car. I managed to get it started and burned out before he could break the window at least, but I had to go around a median to leave, which unfortunately gave this guy enough time to pick up a rock, chuck it at my car, and unfortunately caused my rearview window to crack.
Starting point is 00:36:31 I got out of that parking lot and saw the guy in my mirror chasing me for a second until I reached the intersection. I had only been asleep for around two hours, but with my heart now racing, I was fully awake and decided to just not stop driving. I didn't stop until the sun came up, which I finally took a break at a McDonald's. I called my parents from there and told them what happened, but I tried to keep it light-hearted so as to not worry my mother. After talking to them, and a quick meal, I was feeling way more ground. and I got back on the road to finish my drive. I arrived at my biological mother's home after that with no other incidents, but I also didn't stop again, other than the normal food or restroom break.
Starting point is 00:37:23 Obviously, I don't know what that guy's intentions were, but because of that feeling that wouldn't go away, I can't help but feel that it wasn't going to be to ask for more money, or just an innocent conversation. The fact that his demeanor changed within a second terrified me even more. So I was just glad that I got out of there before he was able to get in, and even more thankful that I woke up to those initial sounds. For better understanding, this happened in the mid-90s, and there was very little adult supervision. The summer when I was nine, there were four attempts to kidnap me.
Starting point is 00:38:16 Two guys each tried twice. I'll start with the mailman. In June, I was spending a weekend at my dad's apartment building, and his other kids and I were out in the little playground area when I noticed someone staring at me. It was the mail carrier at the outdoor block of resident mailboxes. He glanced around, and when he saw me looking at him, and then walked up.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Now, I already didn't. trust adults, so my first instinct was to step toward him to keep my little half-brothers behind me, but he just kept looking around and then said, Hey, want to see my truck? It's really cool. Come on. I refused, and I waited for him to leave, but he just glared at me and kept telling me how great mail trucks were and how much I have to see it. I had no idea how to get us away from him, but luckily a woman with her own kid came over and he just stomped off. When I told my dad, he rolled his eyes at me and said that I must have misunderstood.
Starting point is 00:39:29 I think it was pretty clear. About a month later, back at my mom's house across town, I was walking down the block to visit a friend, and, at her mailbox, I glanced over and it's the same guy. He seemed as surprised as I was, and we both just froze and stared at each other. He snapped out of it before me and did his sketchy-looking-all-around thing. Then, just started to reach for me. I bolted. I'm pretty sure I was up the driveway and into my friend's house in under a second.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Now for the worst guy. Again, in June, before my first encounter with the creepy mailman, a friend and I were sitting on the curb in front of her house, trying in absolute vain to think of something fun to do. We were deep in shooting down each other's half-assed ideas when a big, old, noisy car pulled up next to us. The driver rolled down his window and just went, come here. I was horrified when my friend started to get up. I jumped up too and grabbed her hand, but had no idea what to do. The driver said that he had something for us, and my friend pulled away to move toward the car. I tried to grab her again, but before I could really do anything, some steady traffic started down the street,
Starting point is 00:40:58 and the guy just threw something out of the window and drove away. It was pictures. I didn't want to tell my parents for fear of somehow being blamed. My then-stepdad was literal garbage, and could have found a way to make having those junk picks my fault. But I trusted her parents enough to tell them. Her dad asked about the guy in the car, but neither of us could give any useful information,
Starting point is 00:41:27 so I didn't think anything would come of it. in August, after both mailman events, I was much more careful but still walked around my neighborhood alone. This time, the other corner of my block, I noticed a car slowing down and I recognized it. I started speedwalking to get away, but the junk pick pervert sped up a bit and rolled down the window. The words, alone today, still kind of haunt me,
Starting point is 00:41:59 I kept up my almost running walk and stared ahead, but he pushed the passenger door open and just yelled, Get in. I was off. With my traumatic summer, I had made plans. To get away, I started cutting through yards and down the tiny alley behind my block. At my locked gate, I scrambled up the chain link fence and tore through the backyard and into the house. honestly, I'm still kind of proud of managing that.
Starting point is 00:42:32 For the next few years, I didn't leave my yard alone, and to this day, if anyone seriously scares me, I swing on them. Rough summer. Hi, so this happened about 15 years ago when I was 18. I used to work in a newsagents slash cafe franchise in a large mall. We got a lot of creeps for some reason, to the point that all of us girls stopped wearing makeup and tried to have the worst hairstyles that we could, to make us as unappealing as possible. So you can imagine the extent of the issue. I've always looked younger.
Starting point is 00:43:27 I had to show my ID to buy alcohol until I was 30, so with no makeup I probably looked about 15. One day, a creepy dad comes in with a son. The dad is over 50, huge, bald, dressed all in leather, biker style, and the son is about my age, and he looks like a stereotypical nerd. Thin, tall, glasses, looking at a little. his feet. If first the dad asks to buy a bus ticket. I checked the drawer, which was pretty low, and I had to bend to look in it, which is important, for the bus tickets, but I don't see any. So I ask a coworker to go check if there are any more in the back. She comes back and says that
Starting point is 00:44:19 we're out. So I say, I'm sorry, sir, we don't have any tickets at the moment. And here's where the creepiness begins. Him? Oh, that's a shame. Could you maybe look in the drawer again? He looks so pretty when you bend over. I'm a bit shocked, but I just say that I'm sure we don't have any left, sir. I can see him looking at our cigarette shelf, which goes all the way up to the ceiling.
Starting point is 00:44:50 He makes a smug face, and then says that he wants Marlboros. They're at the very top, and I would have to get on a ladder to get them, but for that very reason we had a box of the cigarettes from top shelves under the counter. So, I make a smug face too and pull the marlborers from there. Then he says, Oh no, I was hoping you'd get on the ladder and I'd have a better look at you. Me, trying very hard not to just yell screw off.
Starting point is 00:45:22 Well, I have them here, so no need for the ladder. him that's a shame what's that pendant you have here well basically shoving his face into my cleavage i jumped back of course i was really uncomfortable at this point i now know that the easiest way out of it would be to just ask a male colleague to take over but it was my first job and i didn't know any better so i didn't say anything and was just quickly packing his stupid cigarettes so I could get rid of him ASAP. In the meantime, his poor son, visibly embarrassed, pulled his sleeve once every so often and went, Dad, can we please just go? But the dad didn't react to that at all. I mean, total silence. Didn't even look at him.
Starting point is 00:46:16 Finally, the sigs are packed. I tell him his total, and as he's paying, he goes, What time do you get off work tonight, honey? with a sleazy smile. The sun is completely red in his face and just keeps repeating, Dad, let's just go to no avail, of course. At this moment, something finally clicked in my brain, and I remembered an interview with a beauty pageant contestant.
Starting point is 00:46:45 You read a lot of BS magazines working in a place like that, who said her best way to blow off old creeps is to make them feel well old. So I smiled my most beautiful smile and said with a sweet giggly voice, Oh, sir, I think you're even older than my daddy. Well, that did it. He got red, grabbed the sun,
Starting point is 00:47:11 and literally stormed out dragging the kid behind him. He even left his Sigs, so a silver lining there because I'm a smoker, and since they were paid for, and he didn't come back for them, my boss let me take them. Still, it was really creepy, and I'm actually uncomfortable thinking about it even after these 15 years. I'm also sorry for the kid. He seemed nice, and I can't imagine the embarrassment I'd feel if my dad was hitting on and harassing girls my age. When I was a kid, I used to love playing in the snow.
Starting point is 00:47:59 In fact, I had always been a very active kid, always wanting to play outside and explore every nook and cranny I could find out there. But there was just something about snow days that were magical to my simple child's self. Sure, you got to stay home from school, but it was more to me than that. I got to play outside all day with my friends without homework getting in the way. I was an only child. my dad worked a normal 9 to 5 job and my mom worked from home, but just stayed in her office most of the day.
Starting point is 00:48:35 So if I had a snow day or some random unexpected day off, I basically had to leave her alone until we had lunch or something. So being expected to keep myself entertained didn't always work out. Thankfully, I had a few friends that lived in the neighborhood and my mom was more than willing to let me go hang out with them, on those days off. Our snow days would typically consist of building a decent-sized snowman. We usually only dressed him up with the things that we found around the yard,
Starting point is 00:49:08 or nothing at all, because we would then use it for target practice. We would throw snowballs or rocks at it, and then we would throw them at each other and plenty of other fun things like that. The story took place during one of those snow days. My friends and I had all been trying to build a makeshift snow fort. I had walked down to Andy's house, which is where we met up. From there, Andy, Travis, Jackson, and I walked to the corner to hang out at what we referred to as our club. There used to be an old convenience store located there, but it burned down several years prior to this event.
Starting point is 00:49:50 When that happened, they bulldozed what was left to the building and just left the concrete parking lot empty. with nothing ever being built there. This became the best blank canvas when it snowed, and we loved it. This is where we would end up hanging out a lot. We pretty much knew the people in the neighborhood, so sometimes people would drive by and honk and wave at us and just carry on. It wasn't a secret or anything. Our parents knew that we went there, too.
Starting point is 00:50:21 So this was where we started building a few snowman guards in the front. And then we started building our walls in the back. It had been a really good snowfall with plenty more expected, so we got a little in over our heads. We wanted to try and build walls on at least three sides of the concrete, and try to make it as close to an enclosed place as we could. However, we were still kids and didn't quite understand the purpose of not having walls crooked or having supports to help hold them up, so it fell at times.
Starting point is 00:50:55 But we were still determined. While we were working on this, there was one guy that we saw walking down the street, but he didn't really stand out at all. He had on a long black coat that went past his knees. He was wearing sunglasses and a fedora as well. And he was wrapped up in a long, dark red scarf. To me, he just looked like some businessman, but, like others had done, he stopped and stared at us for some time.
Starting point is 00:51:25 We waved at him and he didn't wave back, keeping his hands in his pockets. So, we just continued playing. Shortly after, I looked up, still feeling like we were being watched, and I saw the guy was still standing there. He had walked to the corner and hit the button to cross, as I heard the beep, but I guess he never walked. It was pretty obvious at this point that he was just watching us. being a kid though I didn't know if it even meant anything and he wasn't doing anything other than just standing there so I tried to just ignore him we all once again helped out and before I knew it I had forgotten about the guy and when I looked a while later he was gone we'd been out there for most of the day and were told that we needed to be home before sundown
Starting point is 00:52:18 and so when the sky started turning pink and orange we knew it was about time to go. All of us were starting to feel a bit hungry anyways. We began our trek back home, but right before we got to Andy's house, I realized I left my gloves back at the fort. I had taken them off because they were covered in snow and were no longer keeping my hands warm. They were also new, and I knew that my mom would kill me if I left them, and possibly lost them, so I had to turn around. I told my friends to go on ahead that I would go by myself, not wanting anyone else to get in trouble for my mistake. I thought that I would just walk back down there, grab them real quick, and head back. No big deal.
Starting point is 00:53:06 I got back to our spots, grabbed my gloves, and then spotted part of our wall that looked like it was going to collapse. We had spent so much time on it that I didn't want it to fall. so I took a moment to try and pack more snow into it. As I did this, I started getting that feeling of being watched again. It reminded me of staying at Andes and having his little brother always peeking into the room. So I started to look around. To my surprise and curiosity, it was the man from before, in the long coat, standing at the corner and once again staring at me.
Starting point is 00:53:45 This time, the man waved at me first, and being taught manners, I waved back. The man smiled and began walking towards me, and, for some unexplained reason, I started to get this feeling like something was wrong, like I was in trouble. I stood up and started walking towards the street to leave, pretending like I didn't see him walking towards me. But then he shouted at me, which made me stop. It was one of those times where, as a kid, they were an adult, so I felt like I needed to listen to them. My parents did instill stranger danger in me, and I knew not to go with strangers or whatever, but I still felt like I had to listen to what they had to say.
Starting point is 00:54:34 I stopped in my place, turning back around to face them as they approached me, and he began talking to me. Hey there, sweetie. did you and your friends build that wall all by yourself? He talked to me like I was a small child, not like you would to a 12-year-old boy. And the way he called me, sweetie, just felt off to me. I nodded, simply saying yes, when he stood up straight, putting his hands on his hips and said that it was very impressive of us.
Starting point is 00:55:07 Then he asked if I needed a ride home. I thought this was a weird question, because every time we saw him, he was walking. He hadn't been in a car. Regardless, I knew not to accept a ride from a stranger, so I told him no, and said that I lived right up the street, and then pointed to Andy's house. I was thinking he would leave me alone if he saw that my house was in clear view from where we were. Unfortunately, it did not, and he made a comment that sounded more like a threat.
Starting point is 00:55:41 well, you never know what could happen to a little girl walking alone by herself. I didn't like the way that he said that. And also, I wasn't a girl. I did have longer hair as my parents let me choose what I wanted to do with it, and with my hat on, I suppose someone could have mistaken me for a girl. I told him that I was a boy, probably sounding a bit offended at the time, and he just had this evil-looking grin on his face the whole time. It again made me feel really uncomfortable,
Starting point is 00:56:17 so I just said that I needed to get home and continued walking. I looked over my shoulder for a moment and saw the guy standing still, watching me walk off. The weird vibes he was giving would not let up, and my fighter flight started kicking in, making me constantly look back. Thankfully I did, because the guy started walking behind me, following me, and obviously catching up. Something in my head told me that I needed to run, so, after stopping for a brief second to turn like I was going to cross the street,
Starting point is 00:56:53 I then took off running towards Andy's house. I could hear his feet shuffling behind me, obviously running with me. I started screaming, saying anything that I could to get someone's attention, or maybe get him to leave me alone. I shouted things like, Leave me alone. I don't know you. And somebody help. I finally reached Andy's door,
Starting point is 00:57:17 and instead of knocking as I normally would, I immediately tried the door, and thankfully it was still unlocked, so I ran inside. I saw Andy sitting on the couch, and his mom came out of the kitchen with a concerned look on her face. I quickly tried to tell them about the man
Starting point is 00:57:35 that had followed me there, and Andy's mom yelled for his dad. When he came out, I relayed what had happened to him as well, and he immediately rushed outside looking for the guy. Andy's mom called the cops, and my parents as well, to let them know what was going on. When the cops showed up, I explained what happened, and then Andy and I gave them a description of the same man to confirm, and they went out to look for him. My parents showed up as well, not when he was. willing to let me walk home, of course, and we waited for the cops to come back.
Starting point is 00:58:11 Unfortunately, they never saw the guy again, so we went home. This also ruined some of our independence for a while. We weren't allowed to go anywhere alone. We weren't allowed to go down to our little spot, and I wasn't allowed to walk to Andes for a long time. They would drop me off and pick me up, or only allow me to walk if there was someone with me. Like, if all of us boys were together. They took stuff like that very seriously in our neighborhood, which was a good thing. A lot of neighbors would look out for us and strangers and immediately report it,
Starting point is 00:58:51 especially after this event. I never did see that guy again, which is great, but I just hope that he was never successful with offering that ride. Or even better, hopefully he was caught somewhere else. before he could offer one. That man emanated evil, and I could tell that there was nothing good to come out of that situation. This was something that happened when I was around four or five years old. Of course, I know this was really young, so I didn't have all the details, so this was also put
Starting point is 00:59:37 together with the help from my dad, as it did involve the two of us. I remembered parts of this from my perspective, but I'll also include what my dad saw and experienced too, so I apologize if it does jump around a bit. This was sometime in the early 90s. My family, which was my mom and dad, my baby sister, and myself, lived near the border of Oklahoma and Texas. My dad had gotten a phone call about his mom falling ill, and they were afraid that she wouldn't make it much longer, so he wanted to go be with her in Mexico. Both of my parents were working full-time jobs, so they were kind of stuck.
Starting point is 01:00:23 My mom wouldn't be able to watch both of us while working, but they also couldn't afford to have us all go. So they decided that my dad would take me with him since I was older, and my mom would stay home with my sister since she was a newborn anyways, and she could bring her with her to work. So my mom made us some food for the road, and after packing a bag for both of us and bringing my favorite toys, we headed out late one night.
Starting point is 01:00:53 That way we could get through a lot of the driving while I slept. Plus, it was a little cooler. It was the middle of summer, and it was unbearably hot. The AC barely worked, and we couldn't have to be able to. have it on at all times, otherwise the car would start running funny. We also had a very old car that could fall apart at any time, so driving at night was almost preferable. Unfortunately, we started having troubles with the car in the middle of the drive. I remember seeing a lot of white smoke, and my dad said that it was sputtering. Thank God we weren't on a deserted and empty
Starting point is 01:01:31 part of the highway, though. With his hazards on, he was able to slowly taken exits, got past and stared at by multiple cars, and then rolled into the parking lot of a run-down truck stop. I do remember being my younger self asking some form of, are we there? To which my dad told me that he had to fix the car. Instead of pulling into a parking spot, he pulled up to the curb close to the building. There was a picnic table in the grass nearby that had an umbrella over it. My dad pulled me out of the car and had to me sitting at the table, and he gave me a few of my toys in a juice box. He told me to stay there no matter what while he looked at the car.
Starting point is 01:02:16 As mentioned, it was very hot at the time, and when we talked about this when I was older, he told me that he didn't want to leave me in the car and risk me overheating, so he thought the next best thing would be for me to sit there in the shade. I was still pretty close to him, where all he had to do, was turn his head to the left and he would see me, and he would probably hear me if I tried talking to him. The problem, however, wouldn't be with me overheating, but himself. He said that he was already feeling ill and felt like his blood pressure was high, but he chalked it up to just being stressed out and hot. He said after finding out what was wrong with it, he would sit with me to
Starting point is 01:03:02 relax for a bit before we got back on the road. But he wouldn't get that far. He popped the hood, got into the driver's seat to get something, and ended up passing out. I didn't know that anything was happening. I just sat on the bench as I was told and shared my juice with my stuffed animal that I'd had. At one point, I saw a man walk out of the store, and I remember thinking that he reminded me of my uncle. My uncle Lewis was a truck driver, and he always had on a pair of overalls, a cowboy
Starting point is 01:03:39 hat, and sunglasses. This man was dressed the same way, so when he looked at me and smiled, I smiled and waved back. I watched him as he walked along the side of the building seeming to be looking around, and then did a sharp turn and headed
Starting point is 01:03:55 back in my direction. He then stood right across from me and said, hello. I remember saying high back, and I think I asked him if he knew my uncle Lewis. He laughed and said that he thought he might, and then asked who I was with. I told him I was with my dad and pointed at our car. The guy then said something like, Looks like your daddy could use some help.
Starting point is 01:04:20 How about we surprise him with some ice cream? It's really hot out here. Again, I was really young. I knew it was hot because my dress was sticking to me, starting to make me feel uncomfortable. I could tell something was wrong with my dad by the way that he was acting and how much he was sweating. This guy also seemed very nice. And because he did appear to be like my uncle, I thought it would be okay.
Starting point is 01:04:49 I also thought that this was supposed to help my dad, either with the car or to cool off, or maybe just to make him happy. And that's, of course, what I wanted. I wanted to help him, so I agreed to go with this guy. I stood up, and I went to walk around the other side of the bench and grabbed the man's hand. As we started walking, that was about the same time that my dad woke up. He said when he came to, his immediate thought was me. He didn't know how long he had been out, so he jumped out of the car
Starting point is 01:05:23 and saw me walking away with an unknown man. That's when he started running toward us, but he said that his legs felt like concrete. So his next option was to yell. The only thing he managed to get out was Maria, Peligra, which was basically danger in Spanish. My dad's bilingual, and I was starting to learn Spanish alongside my English, but I didn't know it very well. However, one of the things I was taught was stranger danger. However, he would later learn this, but my dad was amid heatstroke, so, with being very weak, all he could muster was danger. After shouting this, he stumbled forward falling onto the ground, hitting his head on the curb.
Starting point is 01:06:15 Hearing the fear in my father's usually booming voice definitely startled me, and when I saw him fall, I immediately screamed, and the guy that I was walking with took off. My dad and I both remember the guy being white, but of course, we don't know if he knew Spanish and knew what my dad had just said, or if it was the fact that my dad had caught him, so he took off. I ran to my dad who was now on the ground and all I knew to do was scream, cry and shake him trying to wake him up. A lady in the truck stop heard all this and ran out to try and help, and after that, it all kind of ran together. I remember a few other people helping by putting cold rags and my dad. I remember the ambulance coming and then my dad waking up.
Starting point is 01:07:06 They had to calm him down as he was panicking because he couldn't see me initially. The lady was sitting on the bench with me trying to keep me calm and keep me out of the EMT's way. When I called out for him, though, he knew I was okay, so he calmed down too. I know the EMTs wanted him to go to the hospital to see if he'd gotten a concussion, but he refused. After he cooled down, he said he was feeling much better, and that he needed to fix his hot car still so that we could get back on the road. The lady that was with me had my dad pull the car into the truck garage to take a look at it while he rested inside in the AC. see. My dad said that the issue had something to do with the radiator, and they only asked him to pay for the part, which they had, and that they weren't going to charge him for labor.
Starting point is 01:08:00 I remember the lady being very kind. She asked me questions about myself, my family, all while the EMTs were there to keep me calm. She gave me a push-pop and some water, and let me keep the little pool stuffed animal toy thing she gave me. It was like one of those water. It was like one of those water footballs that you'd toss around in a pool, but it was a rabbit, I think. She'd soaked it in cold water to keep me cool as well. To wrap things up, the guy unfortunately fled. He was driving a big truck, so they had his license plate number and knew the business thanks to the giant logo on the trailer.
Starting point is 01:08:41 We used this to contact the company and police to report it, but my dad said that he never heard anything back, so we just assumed that they either never found him, or, more likely, didn't take it seriously. We did make it to Mexico, with only a day to spare before his mother passed away. It was one hell of a trip for us, and I became even closer with my dad after that. It's like we really became partners, always watching out for each other. I have always been more of a lurker than someone who is active in groups like this, but I finally come to a point where I thought that sharing the experience that happened to me a few years ago was a good idea.
Starting point is 01:09:38 Honestly, this whole thing haunts me still to this day, and I've never been able to come up with anything rational to explain any of it. And I understand that it may not be too exciting to some, but to me, it was terrifying. I figured sharing my story here would be a good idea since a lot of you seem to have a lot of insight to offer. So if anyone has an explanation for me, please do share. A bit of background. I live in the north where spring storms are pretty common. You know, the kind with really heavy rain, explosive thunder, raging lightning in the occasional random tornado that will fly through and rip everything apart.
Starting point is 01:10:23 As terrifying as they can truly be, I've always found these storms to be both thrilling and eerie. But I never really thought that I would have an experience of something genuinely terrifying during one of them. The story takes place on one of those very stormy spring evenings. I was home alone. My parents had gone out to visit some friends a bit before the storm started, and because of how bad it was getting me. out there, it was unlikely that they would be home anytime soon. They left me with the short list of chores to do around the house, which, while annoying, was good enough to keep me occupied, since I wasn't going
Starting point is 01:11:07 to be able to go outside. I was 16 at the time, so being home alone wasn't a big deal, even during storms. As the evening progressed, the storm got even worse. The wind was blowing like crazy, rain and hail were smacking the sighting, thunder was shaking the glass each time it hit, and it was nearly pitch blackout at 6.30. To put it lightly, it was a really intense storm. I was doing the dishes, finishing up my chore list, with an episode of SpongeBob playing in the other room for noise.
Starting point is 01:11:46 The lights flickered, and the TV actually shut off. The old TV had this really annoying feature or something, that would cause it to completely power down if the lights flickered like that. I don't know if it was to protect it from a surge or something, but it happened any time we got a strong storm like this. An annoyed, I rinsed off the plate I was washing, turned off the sink and went to dry my hands so I could go turn the TV back on. As I walked into the living room, I went to reach for the remote when I realized how silent and creepy the room was.
Starting point is 01:12:23 despite the storm. And I think I noticed this because the silence was broken by what sounded like a whispering sound. I stopped for a second, trying to see if I could pinpoint where exactly it was coming from, but when I actually tried to listen to it, it was gone. I shrugged it off, thinking it was probably just something to do with how the wind was catching the house, and decided that I would leave the TV off while I went back to finishing the dish. When I started washing the dishes again, I heard another voice, but this time it was above a whisper. It was very soft, but it was at least audible, and I swear I heard it say, I'm scared.
Starting point is 01:13:10 I remember when I heard it, I jumped, and I turned around thinking there was going to be someone standing behind me, but there was nobody. I looked down the hallway, checked the front door, looked out the front window, and again, there was nobody. Then, I looked out the back window and nearly needed a change of pants. Out in the backyard, standing by the back corner where there were a few trees, I saw what looked like a little girl. I squinted to make sure that I wasn't just seeing things, but my assumption was 100% confirmed that when she lifted her hands. hand and waved at me, and then walked back towards the trees at the back fence. I had two thoughts go through my mind immediately. One was, where the hell are her parents and how did she get in my yard?
Starting point is 01:14:04 And the other was, she's going to die if she stays out in this storm. Then I started thinking about what I should do. Should I call the cops? Should I go out and try to help her? I ultimately ended up choosing the second off. option, grabbing my rain poncho, which, with how bad the storm was, did nothing, and grabbed a flashlight and started out into the backyard. I walked out and was immediately pelted by cold rain and hard winds, to the point that I was
Starting point is 01:14:36 almost blown over. I kept on into the yard and started shouting for the little girl, but didn't get a response. When I got to the tree line in the back, I turned on the flashlight and looked around. But she was nowhere to be seen. I kept shouting hello, looking around to see if she had just run off, but it was as if she had never existed. There was no way that a girl her size could have climbed that fence either. She looked like she was about four or five, and we had a wooden privacy fence around the entire yard. Which, again, made me question how she could have ever gotten into the yard in the first place.
Starting point is 01:15:17 I looked around only for a couple of moments. The rain was getting to be a bit too much for me, and when I was basically satisfied that I was crazy and that she wasn't there, I went back to the house. I stopped on the back deck standing there, drenched and confused, just trying to piece together whether or not I had seen the girl or if I had been hallucinating. Almost as if on cue, I hear the voice again saying,
Starting point is 01:15:47 it'll be okay. But this time, it was coming from behind me, which was the house. I immediately said nope and went back inside, shutting and locking the door behind me. I dried off, turned on every single light, and went back to watching SpongeBob at a volume that was way too loud. I just sat there completely ignoring every other sound that I heard from the storm, or the house. house creaking and focused on the show. When my parents got home, they asked me why I was still awake, and when I tried to explain the whole thing, they laughed and said that I was probably just seeing things.
Starting point is 01:16:30 I laughed and said, yep, and then went straight to bed. I have no earthly idea what exactly this all was. Part of me is screaming that it was paranormal, as the girl didn't seem to really exist. but I don't think that it was a black-eyed kid, as she wasn't at the door or begging to come in or anything, she was just there. I need to do some more research on them, though, because I don't know enough about them to confidently say that it wasn't.
Starting point is 01:17:03 But that's my story. Does anyone here have any thoughts? Was this just a spirit out in the storm? Or was this something potentially much more malicious? This took place last month on the 24th in a sushi restaurant in Columbus, France. My ex and I decided to go eat dinner in this small sushi place that we would often go to. We're on good terms and we still see each other from time to time. We sat down near the entrance.
Starting point is 01:17:48 I was facing the window. We had just started eating when a group of four 17-year-olds came in, and sat at the table next to ours. They began having a conversation about some weird guy they had encountered on their way to the restaurant. Apparently, he had a problem with one of the kids, who I'll call Tom. I don't remember much about what they said, except that the guy claimed he would come back for Tom. Tom had a motorcycle helmet, which he had put on the table next to him.
Starting point is 01:18:22 this is important for later. I didn't think much of it and carried on eating. I don't remember how many people were there, but I would say that there were around 15 people. A few minutes later, I noticed a guy at the window, and I hear the kids say, Holy crap, that's him. The guy was at the window, angrily gesturing Tom to come outside.
Starting point is 01:18:50 Since Tom wasn't coming out, the guy opened the door and told him to come outside. Tom provoked him, telling him, Beest Amher, go F your mother, a common French insult. Then, the guy let go of the door, pulls out a knife from his pocket and charges at Tom. As soon as I saw the knife, my heart dropped. As the guy tried to stab Tom,
Starting point is 01:19:18 he grabbed his helmet and strikes the guy with it. A fight breaks out in the middle of the restaurants, breaking everything. Our table was flipped. Every plate and soy sauce container got smashed on the floor. Everyone started panicking, but no one could leave as it was a very small restaurant, and they were fighting in front of the entrance. So, everyone backed up in the corner behind their tables. Me and my ex did the same.
Starting point is 01:19:48 I kept telling my ex that we were. getting the hell out of there, while she kept calling my name in panic, too scared to move. Realizing we couldn't leave, I just shielded her, staring at the fight. Tom and the guy were on the floor, Tom on top, the guy striking him in the back. I seriously thought that I was going to helplessly watch a 17-year-old get stabbed to death before my eyes. I was glued to the scene, fearing the sight of blood, thinking Tom was getting stabbed repeatedly, I eventually turned around to my ex
Starting point is 01:20:26 and put her head to my chest, telling her not to look. Two dads ended up breaking off Tom and the guy. One was this super muscular no-business dad, and the other one was a smaller Papa Bear-type dad. The crazy guy was pushed out of the restaurant. He kept saying that he was 47, seven years old, with kids, and that he would kill Tom.
Starting point is 01:20:53 The owner instructed us to pull down the roll-up security gate, since we were the closest to the key on the wall that controlled it. All of us were now safe inside the restaurant. It was a complete mess. Food, sauce everywhere. Tables all flipped and pushed to the side. The buff dad who broke off the fight was here with his wife, baby, and four-year-old daughter. who was bawling her eyes out.
Starting point is 01:21:20 I felt so bad for her, having to witness this at such a young age. A couple had called the cops who arrived probably three to five minutes later since the station was a two-minute drive from the restaurant. Cops entered the restaurant and started inspecting and asking questions, and they went to see Tom, who got out of the altercation without a single scratch. Turns out, the guy's knife was really cheap, and when Tom struck him with his helmet, it had knocked the blade off the handle. The dude had kept hitting Tom with the back of the handle, hence why I thought he was stabbing him.
Starting point is 01:22:03 Tom didn't seem affected by the situation at all. He had this smirk on his face. It felt like another day in the office for him. He looked the delinquent type, but still, I had expected him to be a little more affected by the situation. Either way, I was glad that he was okay. The cops took us outside and started getting our statements. Midway through our statements, we all noticed that a good 20 meters away,
Starting point is 01:22:33 the cops had arrested the guy and were interrogating him. They eventually took him to the station. Tom and his friends explained the situation and what had happened before they entered the restaurant. According to them, the guy was just leaning on a light pole close to where he was arrested. And when they passed by, Tom had made eye contact with him. The guy then tried to intimidate Tom by doing that sudden head movement toward him to make him flinch. I don't know what it's called. Tom didn't react and just looked at him which drove the guy nuts.
Starting point is 01:23:11 Who then said he would come back for him. I honestly think they were telling the truth. From what I saw, the guy definitely looked like the type to want to kill someone just for looking at them the wrong way. The second dad who broke off the fight, the Papa Bear one, was a sweetheart through the whole thing. He tried to talk to everyone, and he comforted the four-year-old girl, which was really nice to see. I think that she'll be fine. She quickly stopped crying and referred to the guy as La Voyeur, the robber. She's obviously too young to understand, and I hope that she forgets this ever happened.
Starting point is 01:23:55 The cops let us go after getting our information. They never called us, so I don't know what happened to the guy. Since the cameras and the restaurants were fake, they'll have to make do with our statements. And since we all had the same version, and I hope this maniac is locked up for attempted murder. This happened a few years ago, about when I had just turned 14. There was this dog who always would escape their owner's home. They were adashioned.
Starting point is 01:24:39 One day, the dog was in my yard when I got home from school. At the time, I had no idea who the owner was, or where the dog came from, and I wanted to make sure that he stayed safe. My mom and I debated for a small while, and we decided to just keep him until we could find the owner. And because of his color, we named him coffee for the time being. So, every day, I let coffee out to use the bathroom. Most of the time, I would let him out in the afternoon to use the bathroom,
Starting point is 01:25:17 and most of the time he never came back. And, being the kind-hearted young man that I am, I always went out before or when it was dark to find him. It didn't take me long to realize that he would take a specific path to get to, what I now assume, is his owner's house. But because at the time I wasn't really sure it was his owner, I would take him back to my house. So, one night, I went out of my house and called coffee's name. And, like usual, he didn't come back. So I decided to go find him. I took the route that I knew I would find him on, which was to take a right on the road,
Starting point is 01:26:03 right in front of my house, and to take the first right. Then coffee was usually right by the stop sign down that road. So, without much notice, I just left my house and started walking down the road. As I get around halfway to where I'm supposed to turn, I start to hear guys talking about some controversial stuff. I don't understand why men wear all that makeup. It makes no sense. Yeah, and I don't think men should wear purses and something else foggy memory.
Starting point is 01:26:39 Now, I myself am gay, but I'm a pretty chill guy, and I understand that people have their own opinions, and that's okay. Still, though, the conversation made me feel a little weird. As I got closer to the two guys, one of them speaks to me. Hey, baby, one of the men said as if trying to assert dominance, trying to make me feel as though they are of a higher value than me. I frozen my tracks and slightly glared at the men. They were on the opposite side of the street. Because the only light source at the time was the moon and the street lamp at the point where I was supposed to turn, I wasn't able to see the men very well. I was able to make out that one of them was wearing a cap and that the other man was bald. Both of them were smoking and I was able to tell
Starting point is 01:27:37 that they were drinking. Hey, baby. The man in the cap said again in the same tone. The bald man immediately lets out a chilling dry laugh that struck me with a slight fear and left me feeling uneasy. A little startled but mostly confused, I didn't say anything to the men. Are you looking for your doggy? The man in the cap said in a low tone, again accompanied by his friend's chilling laugh.
Starting point is 01:28:05 though the pit in my stomach grew I somehow got the courage to finally speak uh yeah he ran away again I said in a surprisingly calm tone I see you come out here every night this comment made the pit of my stomach grow because I know for a fact that every time I come out to find coffee the men in the truck that accompanied them
Starting point is 01:28:32 were never once at that house He continues talking about things that I can barely remember. All I can remember is the bald guy chuckling as he speaks to me. As the man continues talking to me, I slowly walk away from the men, nodding and acting like I'm paying them mind. Soon the man stopped talking to me and then wished me luck on finding my dog. I finally get to my turn, and I kid you not, the moment I walk unethical. under the street light, it bursts. At this point, I'm internally freaking out and not entirely able to think clearly, but
Starting point is 01:29:13 somehow I'm able to keep relatively calm. Stupidly, I didn't bring my phone, because the route to find coffee was really short, so I didn't think I would need to bring my phone. I finally got to where coffee usually is and even whispered his name a few times, but to my surprise he didn't come. I was debating what route I should take to get back to my house. There was another way to get back that didn't involve seeing those men again, but it's extremely dark and woodsy where I live, which means that there was a good chance I would bump into wildlife. So, I ended up deciding going back the way that I came, which was the shorter route anyways.
Starting point is 01:30:01 but this time I ran through people's front yard stealthily and carefully. I passed by the men who hadn't seemed to move from when I first saw them. I finally got to my front yard and I decided to look back at where the men were. They had just gotten their truck and went all the way down the road that I was on. I rushed inside and immediately told my mom what happened. She was slightly concerned, but just told me not to go. back out at night again. Not too long after this, my mom called me and told me that she found out that there was one man residing in that home who was a registered pedophile. My mom urged me not to
Starting point is 01:30:47 go back out at night or by myself again, and I agreed. I'm 17 now, and I have my driver's license, and I do still live in the same small town where this incident took place. I drive by that house where I saw the men at every time I go out to get groceries. The weird thing is that there is never anyone at that house. Sadly, I don't know what happened to coffee. I never found him after that night. And I still think of that night from time to time, thinking what would have happened if I was younger
Starting point is 01:31:23 or didn't play my cards right. Or also, why exactly did that street lamp turn off the moment I walked under it? But I'm writing this on my phone, at work, and I'm still a bit shaken up. So let me preface this by saying that I'm an overnight guard at a hospital. I've been here about five years or so. Overall, I've been working night security in various settings for about 12 years. Before that, I was a Marine. My point is that I'm used to odd situations.
Starting point is 01:32:11 and the general bumps in the night. The hospital where I work has had its shares of weird stuff happen, as many old buildings do, but nothing too crazy. Tonight was different, though. Part of the job is patrolling and unlocking this one really old building, as in one of the first buildings in the city old. It's currently used as the College of Nursing, but at night it's deserted.
Starting point is 01:32:44 Well, about 3 a.m. or so, it's peaceful. I won't say the cue word. In the hospital, so I wander over to get the unlocks out of the way. I'm in this building a lot, probably two to five times a week, every week, for the last five years. I've gotten used to the creepiness, and honestly, I kind of like the quiet. Tonight was odd, though. As soon as I approached, I got this odd feeling in the pit of my stomach. It was that feeling of being watched by a predator.
Starting point is 01:33:20 Anyone who spent time in the woods knows the feeling. Your hackles, rays, so to speak, and your mind screams, get out of there. I stop outside and I scan the street behind me in the courtyard that I'm standing in. Nothing obvious, but I cannot shake. the feeling. I go inside and lock the doors behind me, making a note to unlock them last. That feeling does not go away, though. As I'm walking the floors one by one, it only gets worse as I move towards the older parts of the building. Now, I know I am the only one in this building. I've been all through the first floor and the entrances are locked up tight. You can only do that with the key.
Starting point is 01:34:11 As I get into the upper floors, though, I start hearing things. It starts with footsteps. It's hard to tell because it's like they're matching my cadence. What gets my attention is that it sounds like hard-sold shoes, not like the boots that I'm wearing. I turn back and search the halls, but there's absolutely nothing. Then I hear a door slam from the hall that I just came from. I run back.
Starting point is 01:34:42 It maybe took me a few seconds to get to the door, but there was nothing. It opens to an empty auditorium, which I thoroughly search. Still nothing. At this point, I shrug it off, hold building and all. Maybe the pipes were clicking, and I thought they were footsteps. Maybe I missed a door being opened, and it rattled closed as I walked by. I continued on with that feeling getting stronger. and stronger.
Starting point is 01:35:13 I'm in the stairs to the fourth floor, and I'm taking a second to breathe and mess with my phone. I hear a door below me slam shut, and the distinct sound of footsteps echoing in the stairwell. I pull my radio to call dispatch, and let them know someone's in the building. It beeps, telling me that the battery is dead, and that it won't call out.
Starting point is 01:35:39 Well, crap. I call on my phone. My phone and dispatch says that they'll send some guys. I wait, but I'm not hearing any more footsteps, no doors, no sounds at all. I walk all the way back down and back up to four, and I find no one. Now I'm second-guessing myself and anticipating the coming jokes on my behalf. I move along, figuring that I'll finish the last floor and work my way down and meet up with the other guards. I open the door to the fourth floor, and everything is different.
Starting point is 01:36:15 I'm not talking about a change in atmosphere or anything like that. I'm saying that the entire floor, which consists of old offices used for storage and whatnot, is completely different. White painted walls now have wood paneling. The clutter is gone, replaced by old lab and medical equipment. filing cabinets instead of boxes. The biggest change, at the end of the hall in each corner, are two leather-bound chairs and two men sitting in them talking to each other.
Starting point is 01:36:54 They stop and look at me as I stand there, holding the door in stunned silence. I blink, and it's all gone, right back to normal. I don't understand it. One second, it's completely different from the hundreds of times I've stepped on to that floor. Next second, poof, back to normal. Instinctively, I try my radio again, remembering the dead battery as I hit the button. And it works. I call out that I'm on the fourth floor and that I need units up here as I start to check through each office.
Starting point is 01:37:32 Of course, everything's normal, when everyone gets there and I'm still left. wondering what the hell just happened. We finished checking the building, and I catch my fair share of bull crap from the other guys. I go down to dispatch because I know that we have cameras on those floors, and I want to know what happened. I get to dispatch, and we review the cameras. We see the door open as I come in, and then the feed freezes entirely for about eight seconds. Not necessarily unusual, but not very common, especially on those cameras.
Starting point is 01:38:14 That tends to happen in more commonly traveled areas. So the dispatcher, a man who's been here since grass first sprouted, asks me what I saw. I describe it to him, and he says, weird, that's how it looked back in the 80s, before they redid the lower floors and those were all loud. for the college. At this point, I'm just speechless, and I decide to save myself from further embarrassment and say that I must just be tired in seeing things.
Starting point is 01:38:48 I know that's not the case, though. I'm wide awake, and I know what I saw. I know what I heard through the rest of the building, too. I just don't know how to explain it. Everyone has their weird experiences in that building, but man, this one really threw me. I have a story that honestly sounds like a bit of an urban legend, but it actually happened to me back whenever I had moved to the small town that I used to live in, back in the spring of 2003.
Starting point is 01:39:32 I don't want to give out my exact location, but I will say that I lived in a small town in these southern, part of the Midwest, in a town that was definitely more rural than urban. It was a nice little community, and I chose to move there because the company I worked for was expanding into the neighboring city, which was only about a 20-minute drive. I wanted to be close to my new home office, but I kind of wanted to avoid actually living in the city itself, so I compromised and moved into the small town on the outskirts. Like I mentioned, it was nice. And for the most part, it was just the people who lived there, a general store, the church, and a few other small businesses.
Starting point is 01:40:21 As is the case with most small towns, there were a few warnings to those that were new, specifically to avoid certain places outside of the town to the west, which is where the whole urban legends thing comes into play. Nothing screams Campfire story like being told to avoid two places, the old mines, and the forest that had grown over it. I actually asked someone why I should avoid the forest
Starting point is 01:40:53 and if it was because the land was unstable from the mine. And they told me that there were things that were far worse in the woods than unstable ground. Again, I know this little, literally sounds like a horror movie because that's what I was thinking the entire time. I had just moved there. I was being warned of things in the woods, and people were being ominous about everything involved. This was literally the plot to a scary movie that I swear I saw back in the early 90s.
Starting point is 01:41:29 And much like those movies, I was going to go ahead and just treat these warnings as noise. I wasn't much of a rebel. I just wasn't going to let some nonsense pull me away from the walking trails out in the unincorporated parts of the hiking areas. When I moved to the town, I told myself that, on the weekends, I was going to make more time to become in tune with nature, and that I was going to take my dog, Maddie, hiking out in the woods so that she could get used to it as well. About a month into living there, I finally decided that it was time to put my plan into action. It was a bright and beautiful springtime Saturday.
Starting point is 01:42:16 It was warm. The sun was out early and the air was just perfect. When I got up, I knew right then and there that this would be the day that I took Maddie out onto the trails for a nice hike. And that it would be the start of a new hobby for us. I got dressed for it, got Maddie all sorted out, got a backpack full of water and food just in case, as well as whatever essentials I thought we would need, and I was beyond ready to go. We drove out to the walking paths and parked in the lot near the park. I took a while to study the map that was posted and look at how the trail curved,
Starting point is 01:42:57 made a note of how things were situated in my head, in case I got lost and had to use a compass to get back. Being 2003, I didn't have a smartphone or GPS on me to get back anywhere. And then, after a good amount of debating, I went ahead with the plan and started out into the woods. Now, my plan had me going on the walking trail that would circle back from the west, around the south, and then reconnect at the east. However, at the furthest south part of the trail, you could keep going and could hit that spot of land that people had warned me about. I, of course, was going to check this area out. If for no other reason, I was going to prove that it was all just a bunch of balona.
Starting point is 01:43:48 Maddie and I got out onto the trails, walked around, and after a while I decided that I was at the right spot and started to head off the trail towards where the area was. was that I was told to not go. At first, it wasn't that bad. It was just a thicker area of the trees with no real distinct markings. But after a while, it started to get a bit strange. As I pressed on, I noticed that there were spots where the trees seemed to just be dead, completely lifeless. Which isn't necessarily too out there, but
Starting point is 01:44:27 it was weird to see random trees that were just completely void of leaves in the middle of this lush forest. As I moved south, the dead trees seemed to become more abundant, until I hit a circle of them that was completely brown and decrepit. At this point, Maddie started whimpering and pushing against my leg, as if she was trying to let me know that something was wrong. At this point, my courage turned to genuine curiosity. Something was really strange here, and I kind of wanted to go a bit deeper to see what I could see. I pressed into the dead zone until I got into an area where it was more open.
Starting point is 01:45:10 This circle of dead trees wasn't huge. It was just dense and obvious. And in the middle, there was a clearing that was decent sized that seemed to have been cut out. As I entered into the clearing, the evening. the air seemingly grew colder, and it hit a level of silence that was painful. I could hear my heartbeat, my breathing, and the soft whimpering that Maddie was holding back. I stood there in the clearing, looking around and trying to piece together what exactly it was, when I noticed that the air felt, I guess, stale is the word I want to use,
Starting point is 01:45:52 and it had a smell to it that was just empty. I tried to walk further into the center of the opening, but Maddie was refusing to move, which was incredibly unlike her. She was an adventurous dog, and usually did not disobey me if I tried to pull her in a direction. And to see her like this made me hit that point that I was second-guessing my actions. If she was this scared, then something was going on. I decided that it was time to go ahead and go back. that I'd spent enough time investigating this mystery.
Starting point is 01:46:30 As I turned to walk back the way I came, the silence was broken by what sounded like a stringed instrument, like a violin. I know that that sounds really weird, but as I was walking away, I started to hear something that sounded like somebody playing a single, out of tune, and constant note on a violin. That was my absolute point.
Starting point is 01:46:56 breaking point, my slow pace doubled, and I pulled on Maddie's leash and told her to come. We started with the fast walk but moved into a jog to get back to the trail, which we did, thankfully. When we got back to the trail, everything seemed to be back to normal. It was warmer, the air was moving, and life had returned to the forest. I stopped to catch my breath, take a big drink of water, and tell myself that I would. literally never go back that way again. After a few moments, I got back to my walk. We still had half the trail to go before we could get to the car.
Starting point is 01:47:37 I felt fine. A little freaked out over what we saw as it was definitely unnatural, but Maddie, on the other hand, was kind of freaking me out. Every few minutes or so, she would pause and look back in the direction of where we were. And each time, she would let us. let out a whimper and try to pull me to keep me going. She did this for the rest of the walk back to the car, like she was waiting for something to follow us,
Starting point is 01:48:06 or like she thought there was something there in the distance. Thankfully, she stopped doing this after we got home, and she hasn't had that level of paranoia since then. We also haven't gone back on that trail since that day. Because I didn't want to get too close to it all. The whole feeling was unnerving and terrifying, but I think I was actually feeling a bit more scared with how Maddie was acting on the rest of the hike.
Starting point is 01:48:36 I feel like she felt something was following us, like she knew it was there and she was keeping a close eye on it to the rest of that hike. Part of me wonders if something did try to follow me out of there, but just didn't, for some reason? I don't know. Obviously, I wasn't the only one to have dealt with this. Considering people had warned me, which just makes me more curious as to what exactly it was. Some kind of break between our world and the supernatural?
Starting point is 01:49:10 Some kind of demonic ground? I have no idea. I no longer live in that town, and, unfortunately, Maddie did pass away a couple of years ago. But the memories of that hike, the feeling I got when I found that clearing, and the way that she reacted, that sound that I heard and just everything about it, those memories have never left me, and they probably never will. This happened back in late 2020. I work at a hospital, but on the data entry side of things. So, most of the time, I was able to work from home, but I had to go in once a week for a mandatory meeting, and to swap out or shred any documents that I may have had. Unfortunately, on this Thursday, I was due in the office, and we were expected to have a pretty heavy snowstorm.
Starting point is 01:50:24 It was just a light dusting by the time I went in that morning, but I watched from my office window as my car was buried inch by inch in snow. By the time I was leaving for the day, it probably took me an extra 15 minutes to dig my car out. It was older, so I had to let it warm up, otherwise it wasn't going to go anywhere fast. But finally, I was on the road and headed home. I was living in a newly developed apartment complex, which meant there was a whole lot of nothing around the area. It was in a pretty busy city. but the side road to my apartment complex was all new, so it was a pretty long and boring road, typically. So, as I was coming home, I turned on to the old highway, thinking it would be easier to get through expecting the roads to have been cleared, or at least treated.
Starting point is 01:51:23 As I drove, I could see a dark figure in the distance. It looked like someone was standing on the side of the road, possibly about to cross it. As I mentioned, I was on this little side highway that was a shoot-off from the larger and more heavily used one. So seeing anyone out here on foot wasn't simply uncommon, it never happened, especially not in these kinds of snowstorms. So I slowed down, just in case they tried to cross in front of me. Visibility was down, so I didn't want to risk them not seeing me either. But as I got closer, it looked like the person wasn't moving, and I would soon learn why. As I approached, I slowed down next to it and saw not a person, but a scarecrow.
Starting point is 01:52:18 I was definitely confused, but I guess more relieved that it wasn't a person standing out there. I remember chuckling to myself, but then continued on down the road. But that wasn't the end of the strangeness that night. This road had several curves, and the right shoulder was more of a cliff than a shoulder. There was a guardrail around it, but there was a steep incline behind it that would probably stop you better than the barrier. So, as I drove around these curves, I saw another scarecrow and another. I probably saw one around every curve, and it made no sense. This happened in December.
Starting point is 01:53:04 I would expect to see maybe rainiers or other possible Christmas decorations, but not scarecrows. There wasn't even any agricultural land around this road, so they really made no sense. But as I drove by them, it started to become pretty eerie. The heavy snowfall and winds made it hard to see, and then spotting the dark and human-like scarecrows was kind of. of putting me on edge. Because I was getting nervous, I kept my speed lower than the limit, and kept looking along the sides
Starting point is 01:53:40 for more of these scarecrow's and, hopefully, an answer for it. However, I was clearly struggling with tunnel vision as I looked for them because, out of nowhere, there was a loud thud, and a dark figure hit the front of my car. I was terrified.
Starting point is 01:53:59 I slammed my brakes, which made me not. me skid due to the conditions of the road, but thankfully I wasn't going the 45 plus miles per hour that the road called for, so I was able to get my car under control. After coming to a complete stop, I sat motionless, trying to catch my breath, when I noticed my cracked windshield. This brought me back to my surroundings and realized that I may have just hit a person. I got out of my car now shivering not from the cold, but out of fear. I look behind my car and I see a pile of what should be a body.
Starting point is 01:54:38 Their back was to me, but the legs were bent backwards, and unnaturally so. They had clothes on, but from their position, I was certain they were dead. My heart was racing, and I felt like I was going to be sick, but I continued to walk towards them shouting if they were okay. Yes, I asked if they were okay. I was scared, dumb, and I didn't know what else to say in this situation. But then, I got close enough and realized that something was wrong. Again, this was not a person.
Starting point is 01:55:17 It was a mannequin. What the hell was going on here? There were random scarecrows everywhere and then out of nowhere a mannequin falls from the sky and hits my car? I seriously felt like I was in some kind of movie, or someone had to be around recording this. I nudged the mannequin with my foot, and after confirming one more time that it was not a person, I started walking back towards my car. Then, the deafening silence of the snowfall was broken when I heard a shuffling sound from behind me. I turned around and saw a man sliding down the hill on the right.
Starting point is 01:55:57 I stopped and watched as he walked towards the mannequin and started picking it up. Then he shouted back towards the hill, and two more people came out and slid down the hill toward him too. I was standing by my car at that point, ready to jump in and lock the doors. I started to fear that this was some kind of setup that I'd heard about online, where someone pretends to get hit by your car or maybe they claim they're broken down on the side of of the road, and when you pull over, more people come out and try to rob you or something. They were all in big jackets and overalls, all wearing balaclava's, and had their hoods over their heads. I wouldn't even be able to give a description, so I was prepared to get in my car and just call
Starting point is 01:56:48 911, but I couldn't help but watch as the three of them started picking up the mannequin that was now in pieces under the clothes. the first guy then stopped to wave at me and said, Sorry about that, we're just trying to have a little fun. I just stared at them and gave them a limp wave back and watched as they finished picking up the mannequin. One of them threw the head to another, and then they all marched back up the hill and out of view.
Starting point is 01:57:18 What did I just witness? Was that really a couple of full-grown, I think, men, playing with a mannequin on the side of the road. I just got in my car, frowned again at the crack, and drove away. I was even more on alert at that point, looking all over the place and probably not going faster than 20, just to make sure that nothing else happened. Thankfully, I made it home shortly after with no other incidents,
Starting point is 01:57:47 and no other scarecrow's scene. I locked the door to my apartment and kept looking around to see if anyone had followed me home. I don't know why that had me so paranoid. They definitely didn't seem like they were going for a robbery or something. I mean, after watching them walk away and not even approach me, but it still freaked me out. Were they really just doing that for fun? And what exactly were they trying to do?
Starting point is 01:58:17 I definitely didn't want to stop and ask questions, and I surely wasn't going to tell them that they owed me a new windshield, even though I should have. I never did see them again on that road, though I didn't leave my house again until that following week, I guess afraid of what or who might be out there. I even posted on the Next Door app to see if anyone else witnessed the same thing, but no one had similar experiences. I guess I was just the lucky winner that day. I still live in the same apartment, but I'm very sensitive.
Starting point is 01:58:53 suspicious about taking that road. So I got a dash cam in case, God forbid, it does happen again. However, it seems like it was just a one-off thing, and their one-off day of fun has forever triggered a near panic attack any time I am on that road. A few years ago, I, 26 female, used to work at a job where I usually wouldn't get off until around 11 p.m. I didn't mind it for the most part. I'm a night owl by nature, but I read a lot of let's not meet, and I watch a lot of horror movies. I wouldn't say that I'm paranoid, but I'm definitely cautious. This one particular night, I was driving home along one of
Starting point is 01:59:57 the main roads. It was late enough that traffic was fairly scarce, but Not so late that I felt like I was the only one out, especially because there had been a Jeep behind me for a good while at that point. When it came time for me to make my first turn, the Jeep followed. This wasn't particularly unusual. I was still on a big road, so I didn't think anything of it. I needed to get gas, and luckily there was a fairly busy and well-lit station on my way home. I feel like the layout is important, so bear with me.
Starting point is 02:00:37 From the road I was on, you had to turn left onto a side street, and then turn right onto a street that runs parallel with the grocery store, and then turn right again to get into the gas station. It's a very specific destination, and there's no through traffic. When I went to make the first left, the Jeep got into the turn lane with me. This is when I started paying attention. They'd already been behind me for a good 10 to 15 minutes, and it seemed unlikely that they were just coincidentally going to the same gas station as me,
Starting point is 02:01:15 considering how many there were in that area. But, like I said, there's also a grocery store that's open 24 hours, so I thought maybe that's where they were going. However, they still followed after me when I turned into the gas station. I pulled up to one of the pumps in the middle lane, put my car in park, and watched the Jeep in my rearview. There was no way in hell I was getting out of my car until I figured out what they were doing. If they pulled up to a pump and started getting gas, I would just laugh at myself and carry on. They didn't pull up to a pump.
Starting point is 02:01:57 They lurked at the back of the lot, just idling in place for close to a minute. Finally, they started slowly driving around the far end of the pumps until they stopped again, in front of my car, maybe 15 feet away. Unfortunately, they had tinted windows, so I couldn't see who was in the car or what they were doing, but after another brief period of time, they just drove off. I got gas and drove home, keeping an eye out, but I didn't see them again. Edit, I just realized something that honestly made me sick to my stomach. If I hadn't decided to get gas that night, and if they were, in fact, following me,
Starting point is 02:02:48 my next turn would have taken me into a very large, very dark and very empty park. It takes almost five minutes to drive through, and it has a million speed bumps, so there isn't any quick escape. I hate thinking about what could have happened if I hadn't stopped. Yikes. Maybe this doesn't count as creepy,
Starting point is 02:03:14 and I'm reading into it too much, but I still think it's weird, and it really freaked me out at the time. I have no idea what they were doing. Were they following me? Was it just a coincidence after all? I'll never know for sure, but thanks. I hated it.
Starting point is 02:03:43 I've been a fan of your content for quite some time, and I thought that it was a good time to go ahead and finally share an event that happened to me several years ago. Hopefully it can be a good lesson to others, and I know that I didn't handle the situation the best. And one lesson I learned from this was that sometimes it's best to just keep your mouth shut. Some people out there have ill intentions, and it's best to remember that and avoid situations where you can act on them, if possible. Anyways, on to the story.
Starting point is 02:04:19 Back in the spring of 2012, I had taken a quarter off from school in order to kind of find myself, which sounds sort of dumb, but I would have taken a quarter off from school in order to kind of find myself, which sounds sort of dumb, but I would have taken a quarter off from school in order to kind of dumb, but I was was newly 19 and struggling to really decide what I wanted to do with myself as far as careers go. I had completed a couple of quarters of college already, but it was all core classes. And I was feeling the stress of having to figure everything out, so I decided to just take a couple of months to myself. During this time, I had also decided that I should look into part-time work so that I had some extra money as I didn't want to fully depend on my parents. I'm not saying
Starting point is 02:05:05 that I didn't appreciate them. I just didn't want to be a burden. I ended up landing the night shift at a local convenience store, which was really just a small gas station that sold pizza. It was a decent job. It paid okay. But I think the
Starting point is 02:05:23 biggest benefit was, in fact, the pizza. The only part that I struggled getting accustomed to, was the fact that I had to work until midnight. And working that shift meant that I was the one that had to go do the thorough cleaning. I'm not much of a night owl, which may sound a bit contradictory to the fact that I took this job, but I was young and, like I said, still trying to figure stuff out. One night, in the middle of May, which would have been about two weeks into me,
Starting point is 02:05:59 me working there, I was manning the front of the store by myself when my other co-worker did the stocking. We had already finished up the store cleaning, which meant that, for me, it was pretty smooth sailing for the last half hour of the shift. At one point, this muscular-looking guy comes in and stares at me really intently as he enters the store. It was one of those if looks could kill moments. I had never met this guy, never seen him before in my life, and I had no idea why he seemed to have a problem with me.
Starting point is 02:06:39 As he walked by, I asked him if I could help him, not even in a snarky way, in a sincere customer service way. He stopped walking, stared at me, and just slowly shook his head while clenching his jaw, and then walked past me without a word. I was a bit confused, but I just thought that maybe this guy was in a really bad mood, and my asking him that was too far. I ignored it and went back to sitting there doing what I was doing. After about five or so minutes, this guy walks back up to the counter with a soda and a bag of chips. He goes to drop them on the counter, and I go to grab them. But before I could, he opens his mouth and says,
Starting point is 02:07:28 says, get your co-worker to ring me up. I stared at him for a moment just like, my man, what? He repeated his demands. I relented and stepped down to shout for my coworker Dylan. When he asked what was up, I told him that I needed him up front. He came up, I mentioned that he needed to ring up the customer, and he made a comment about how I was on the register. I then mentioned that this guy specifically requested that I get somebody else to ring him up,
Starting point is 02:08:03 and though I could see that he was frustrated, he shrugged and went to ring this guy up. The whole time he was ringing him up, this dude was giving me the side eye. His jaw was still clenched, and his fist was balled up. Like, he really wanted to attack me. I stood off to the side, just past the counter, sort of awkwardly waiting for this to finish so that I could go back to doing my job, and Dylan could go back to stalking. Dylan finished ringing him up, took his money, and then wrapped up the transaction.
Starting point is 02:08:39 As he turned to walk away, I told him to have a good night, which, yes, it was a bit of a jerk thing for me to do. This guy clearly was not happy with me for whatever reason, and I should have just kept my mouth shorthy. shut. When I said this, the man stopped dead in his tracks and turned back towards me. I lifted my hands and said, my apologies. But this guy started walking in my direction and stopped with his face right at mine. At this point, I realized that I had really made a mistake by being such a smart ass. And how much larger this guy was than me was way more obvious when we were on level ground
Starting point is 02:09:25 and he was right in my face. He grabbed my shirt with his free hand and pretty much lifted me off the ground slightly, which again made me realize that this man could probably crush me. He then stared me straight in the eyes and aggressively said, I swear to God, Jeremy, if I ever ever, ever see you again, I will break every bone in your puny little body. Got it? I just sort of nodded like I understood what he was saying, and as soon as I did, he shoved me, hard, into one of the racks. Hard enough that, when I hit it, it fell over and I went with it.
Starting point is 02:10:12 Then he turned and just walked out of the store, got in his car and left. all the while I was lying on the floor staring at the lights, wondering who the hell Jeremy was. My name is Adam. It's always been Adam. I have always gone by Adam and I don't know anyone named Jeremy, nor have I seen this man before. There's no way that I could have done something to warrant this aggression.
Starting point is 02:10:42 Dylan came over to help me up and basically had the same thought that I did, and he asked me who Jeremy was. I told him that I honestly had no idea, and explained that I didn't know that man, that I had never met him nor seen him before. We both kind of went back and forth about how confusing this was, and by the end of it, we agreed that there must be some guy out there named Jeremy that looked just like me, and he did something to make that man very, very good. mad. We got the store all cleaned up and got the rack back up, and I wrote a note to the
Starting point is 02:11:23 boss to explain what had happened, just in case he watched the tapes and saw the whole thing play out and had questions. In the end, I came out of this encounter mostly unscathed, and I never saw this guy again while I worked there, which was, admittedly only for the duration of that spring quarter. I will say that about a month after I quit, Dylan texted me to tell me that he ran into the guy once after I left, and he seemed completely normal, which then tells me that I was definitely the cause of his distress. I'm glad that he never had to act on his threat, and to Jeremy, whoever you are, I want you to know that you owe me one. and that you should be a bit more careful about who you piss off.
Starting point is 02:12:20 I was 16 to 17, female. I worked at a small family-owned bakery. This bakery has been in my town for 50-plus years, and has been owned by the current owners for over 20. Since the bakery has been there so long, we had a lot of regular customers, and the owner's friends coming in on a regular basis. There was this elderly couple that came in for the first couple of months that I worked there,
Starting point is 02:13:04 and they were so sweet. So I would strike up conversation with them, since they could come in first thing in the morning when we weren't busy. One day, they brought in their grandson, 27 to 28 male, and I made my usual conversation. After that day, the grandson would come in almost every single day, usually without his grandparents. At first, I just thought that it was lonely and he was close with our owner's son, so I didn't think anything of it. Then, he started to get creepy.
Starting point is 02:13:47 He asked me how old I was. I was 16 at the time, but I was. I'm tall and looked generally older. So I told him. And he responded that that was too bad. I didn't look 16 and was then asking when my birthday was and when I would turn 18. He asked what high school I went to and I couldn't lie because he knew I lived in the area. He kept making comments about how nice my body was, how pretty I am, telling me he hasn't
Starting point is 02:14:21 ever seen anyone who's looked like me and that he was fascinated by my looks. When I wore skirts or tops that were tight, he would comment on how short my skirt was, or how my top fit perfectly and how it flattered me. I started to get creeped out after a couple of days of these questions and comments, so I told my coworker who was a couple of years older than me, and she said that she would try to distract him so I didn't have to deal with him. The next day, I came into work and my co-worker served him, and I thought I was going to get away. This was on a weekend at the bakery, which was very busy.
Starting point is 02:15:07 I only got two breaks a day, and so I used them wisely and usually watched Netflix or listened to music. So there I am with my headphones in, on my break. he comes and sits down next to me and starts striking up conversation. During this conversation, I mentioned that I had a boyfriend, and then he asked to see pictures of him and I, and asked if he was a good guy. And then it progressed to him asking if he satisfies me. I was very uncomfortable, so I was hardly giving him responses,
Starting point is 02:15:47 but he still stayed until the end of my brain. This pattern continued for a while. He knew my name, so he found my Instagram and would reply to all of my stories, comment on all my posts, and DM me random things like memes, and send me my own posts saying how nice my face looked, my body, etc. I started to ignore his DMs, so he would delete what he sent and then ask me when he saw me next. why I didn't reply. A while later, I broke up with my boyfriend, and so I deleted my post with him, and the creepy guy noticed within the same day. He saw me at work and was asking me what I was doing this weekend, if I had plans. I said I did, and I brushed it off, but he kept saying how he has tickets for some fare that was going on in our city,
Starting point is 02:16:47 and how he had no one to go with. At this point, I felt like there was nothing I could do because his family was very close with the owner, but I finally worked up the courage and told the owner's daughter. She was very surprised, as she'd known this guy his whole life, and she said that she would speak to him about boundaries and how he should keep his distance from me, but she wouldn't ban him from the store.
Starting point is 02:17:15 A couple of days later, he comes in again and completely ignores me, and then keeps staring at me from across the store, looking angry. He did this until he was about to leave, and then asked why I had told my boss that he made me uncomfortable. I told him that I was 17, at this point, and he was 10 years older than me, and that I didn't appreciate the comments. He said he didn't see a problem, because,
Starting point is 02:17:45 he didn't make a move until my boyfriend and I had broken up. I was honestly really scared, and it just so happened that I was thinking of quitting because school was a lot, and I was getting ready to go to university. That comment just completely put me off, so I quit the next day, because the timing was right anyway. I blocked his social media, and every so often I get random accounts that all have a variation of the same username, and I block them too. Luckily, I haven't had any encounters, as I haven't gone back to that job since I quit. The last situation that happened with him actually happened last week. My grandparents would go to this bakery before I even worked there to get a dessert that they liked.
Starting point is 02:18:38 They called me, and we were just catching up, and they mentioned that they went to my old job, and how the owner and his children and another guy in his 20 she hasn't seen before said hi. I asked her who the man was, I thought he might have been a regular customer or something. After talking it over with her, it was obvious it was the same creepy guy. I told her all the stories, and she mentioned that he says he hopes I'm having a good, time at X University. I live in a different city,
Starting point is 02:19:14 hours away, for school, and I never told anybody at that job where I was going. I don't have it on my social medias either, so I have no idea how he would know where I go to school. Every so often, those accounts do pop up, but
Starting point is 02:19:31 since I'm hours away from my home city, I think I'm in the clear for now. I hope that I don't ever have to encounter him again. This isn't a typical scary story, but having a dream the other day about this kid made me remember something that happened so long ago. Back in the early 90s, when I was about 14, my parents moved to a new town because of my dad's work, transferring him to work alongside an Air Force base. His work was in aircraft, so he was offered several positions, and this one allowed our family
Starting point is 02:20:22 to stay in the same state, but over 179 miles away. We moved into a nice, big, but older home. Compared to our previous home, it seemed like a mansion to us. As the new city, the homes were a lot cheaper. so my parents could afford a bigger home. There was a time period before we moved in that my parents renovated the house, but I would help, and during that time, I saw a kid that lived next door to us. He wasn't my age, but maybe a year or two younger.
Starting point is 02:21:02 Coming from the town that I grew up in, all the kids in my old neighborhood knew me and were my friends, and we would always hang out, bikes, play ball and stuff. So, seeing that kid next door was pretty close to my age. It made me a little less upset about the move. He seemed pretty cool. He was a skater type kid.
Starting point is 02:21:26 I was more a BMX bike kid, but I thought over time we would become friends. I knew he went to junior high, and I was in high school, but I didn't care. I just wanted someone on my block that was my age. as most of the homes looked like either retired or no kids kind of neighborhood. Shortly after we all moved in, I started talking with him. At first it was like, hey, what's up? And then it was a little more, like talking about music, video games, things that were cool to do in town, which there weren't many options.
Starting point is 02:22:08 A couple times, I was outside doing choice. like mowing the lawn and he was out doing the same. I felt like we were starting to become friends. He also had another best friend that was always over. This friend was his age and went to his school, and I got the impression that they knew each other since elementary, and this kid lived a block or two away. One day, I got home from school,
Starting point is 02:22:37 and I saw the neighbor kid and his best friend outside playing, and I noticed they were throwing clumps of mud or dirt at each other. I saw that they were picking the clumps of mud from areas around the tree that was bordering both of our homes. I didn't want to play that because I felt it was too kiddie for me. I went to my backyard and was working out as I had a little gym set up on the side of my house. I saw that they were hitting the side stucco of our house. Knowing my dad, he would have been furious about that. So, I went from my backyard to the front yard and told both guys,
Starting point is 02:23:20 Hey, you guys better stop doing that because my dad will get upset if you keep hitting the house, or worse, his Cadillac in the driveway. They yelled back, sorry, we won't throw them your way anymore. I just went back to my backyard and didn't think anything of it. The next day, I came home from school. school, and there were all these people standing outside. Some looked like family, some looked official like police. All the neighbors were outside, and a lot of people were crying. The neighbor kid's mom was crying almost on the floor. I ran inside to see my mom to ask what happened.
Starting point is 02:24:01 She said there was some kind of accident, and that the boy had died in his sleep. I was like, Oh my God, really? I felt so bad. Like, maybe I should have played with him yesterday. A little time passed after I was inside and looking out the screen door, and I noticed a cop coming over to my house. I believe my mom was there when I opened the door, and the cops said,
Starting point is 02:24:30 I hear you were playing with the boys yesterday. He asks me to step outside as the house had a porch area with chairs and a table. He said, were you playing with the neighbor boy and his friends? I said, no, that they were playing with mud and that I didn't want to get dirty, so I went to work out in the backyard. I started to tell him about how I saw them throwing mud clumps at each other, and that I went over and told them not to throw them at our house, because a few hit the stucco, and I pointed to it. I said that my dad is very particular about the way the outside looks, and that I didn't want them to get in trouble. He asked me about the time, where I was, and he kept asking me, are you sure you didn't throw
Starting point is 02:25:21 mud at them? I started to get uneasy about the way he was asking me. I said, no, I didn't want to get dirty. He looked at me like he didn't believe me, and I said, yesterday when I came home from school, I was wearing a black shirt and black jeans, so I didn't want mud all over them, but that I did change into shorts and an old t-shirt and then went to work out. I pointed to the side gate as to show him that I had a weight bench punching bag and barbells.
Starting point is 02:25:56 The officer kept asking me, so are you saying you did not throw mud or rocks at them? I said yes, I did not throw anything. I also told him that I didn't want the boys to get in trouble because my dad would have been really upset if they broke a window, covered our stucco with mud, or worse, hit his caddy. The cop says, I'm going to ask your parents to bring you in if what you're saying doesn't match up. I said, what is all this about, but he didn't say. My mom finally found out the kid had gotten hit in the side temple with the rock, and not a muddied. mud clump. And then he went inside. He later complained that his head hurt, and his mom gave him
Starting point is 02:26:42 some Tylenol, and he went to bed, and then never woke up. Apparently, a neighbor mistakenly saw me outside with them probably when I was telling them not to throw mud at our house, and he told the cops that I was outside with them throwing mud. My dad was ready to beat the crap out of me, but he ended up believing my story. And my... My mom also said that I was on the side of the house, punching my punching bag. The cops finally got a statement from the other boy who admitted that I was not involved, and that I had told them to stop. They ruled the death an accident, and they didn't charge the other boy.
Starting point is 02:27:25 So, the other night, I had a dream that I was back at the house and looked over, and I saw him playing in the yard like he was always doing. and he looked over at me and then looked down. I don't know what made me dream about him since it's been over 30 years. I always felt sad for him, but eventually stopped thinking about it as high school went on. So why is this a scary story? As an adult, I now realize that, at the time, I was a person of interest in the death of a boy.
Starting point is 02:28:03 The neighbor lady who saw me outside put me at the time. the scene. If the other friend had lied and said that it wasn't him, I would have been the main suspect, and being older, probably would have looked to file charges against me. Lastly, I didn't really fit in in that neighborhood. I'm not white, and we lived in an all-white neighborhood. I dressed differently than nearly all the other kids. I was more into black, not emo, but was into looking like a greaser from the outsiders. So that already made me look bad to the adults. Had things gone differently, who knows how my life could have been affected?
Starting point is 02:28:48 My sister, we'll call her Kay, and I always remind each other of this particular event from our middle school days, on and off. It's something that has truly stuck with us all of the. these years. It's summer 2012 in a small town in South Carolina. My sister and I have our two friends staying the night, Angel and Carmen, fake names of course. The night started as usual, as any middle school girl sleepover. Little did we know, the decisions we made in the following hours were going to scar us for years to come. My sister and I, lived alone with our grandmother, roughly two miles from the town. At some point after my grandmother had went to sleep,
Starting point is 02:29:51 we, meaning K, Angel, and Carmen, and I hatched an idea to walk ourselves to town to have a midnight stroll, more like 1 to 2 a.m. So, sure enough, we toughened it out for two miles, and found ourselves walking the back street's neighbor, behind the train tracks that separated us from the main road. We were walking side by side, with me on the far right closest to the houses, Angel and Carmen smushed between me and Kay on the far left.
Starting point is 02:30:28 As we're walking and carrying on our conversation, something in my brain told me I needed to look into the yard on my right. I turned to look in that direction and immediately jumped. back finding myself next to my sister Kay and shout, What the hell? Everyone's asking me what's going on, as I'm telling them to look. They look over to see a man well over six foot, partially hidden behind a tree cloaked by darkness. At this point, he's now coming toward us at a slow but determined pace.
Starting point is 02:31:08 We absolutely take off running to the. end of the street. I'm looking behind me while running the entire time, and he was indeed chasing us now. Thankfully, everybody but him had the same idea to jump the train tracks and head over to the slightly more busy, but still completely dead, main road and regroup. After looking around and making sure he didn't follow us, we steadily made haste two miles back to our grandmother's house. I remember checking our surroundings the entire way home
Starting point is 02:31:44 and being as quiet as possible so as to not draw attention. We got back around 4 a.m., sat in silence for a bit, and then went to sleep. We never told a soul what happened that night. This happened to me and my boyfriend when we went on a road trip a few years ago. It wasn't our first one, nor the last one, so we were pretty, accustomed to the road. We knew our limits when it came to how long we could drive without stopping, when we needed to sleep, things like that. We both typically stayed awake to keep each other company, but one of us would occasionally take a nap if we knew we were going to be switching out and driving
Starting point is 02:32:38 through the night. That's actually what takes us to the incident that I wanted to share. We were taking a road trip towards the northeast to see one of our favorite bands, and it was only about a 20-hour drive. We wanted to do it in one go, giving us more time and money to spend at our destination, so we made arrangements and planned out how long we would both drive so as to not have one person drained or driving more than the other. I feel like this is something that a lot of people don't think about, which can lead to a lot of accidents. So, make sure that we're not. So make sure, to plan this out to some extent before kidding on the road. The drive started fine, and I agreed to drive first,
Starting point is 02:33:25 and it would be more during the day, as my boyfriend, Wyatt, has better eyesight, and I also don't like to drive at night. We stopped as the sun was going down to fuel up and grab something quick to eat, and then we started back on our path knowing that we still had a bit of a drive ahead of us. However, I was starting to feel a bit drowsy, and after letting Wyatt know, he suggested that I tried to sleep some to prepare in case we needed to switch out. I asked him if he was sure, and he said that he was, affirming that he didn't feel tired in the slightest, so I got comfortable in my seat and started to drift off. It started off as the light dozing where I could still hear the music playing, but then your body's starts to feel heavy and you know that you're starting to really fall asleep.
Starting point is 02:34:21 Soon after, I was pretty clean out, as I remember I couldn't hear the music anymore. I don't recall the details of it now, but I know that I was sleeping heavy enough that I was dreaming at the time, because I remember thinking it was weird. However, I was abruptly awoken by the worst scream I had ever heard coming from Wyatt. I just remember. I just remember Remember it sounded like he was terrified, and when I opened my eyes, all I saw was a bright light that pretty much swallowed us. It was dead of night, yet all I could see was this light. That's when Wyatt hit the brakes and swerved the car over towards the side of the road.
Starting point is 02:35:04 However, this ended up being a dream within a dream, I guess, because I woke up screaming, startling Wyatt enough to try to pull over and calm me down. I remember tears streaming down my face and asking him what happened and what that was, but he looked confused and asked me what I was talking about. After I finally stopped talking and listened to him, I realized that everything was fine. He said that nothing had happened on the road. In fact, there hadn't even been any cars in sight, and I woke up, screaming causing him to jump. So I explained to him what I had seen, or dreamt, I guess, and he comforted me again saying that we were okay. Everything felt so real, down to even hearing the music playing in the low humming sound of the tires on the road.
Starting point is 02:36:04 We sat there on the shoulder with our hazards on, just giving ourselves a moment to compose ourselves, talk and just calm our nerves before getting back on the road. Wyatt then made some kind of joke and then asked me to grab a snack from our bag in the back. I reached back to grab it, and as I was turning back around and putting my seatbelt back on, we started to see some lights in the distance, coming from the opposite direction. It was one of those quick glances for me at first, and I went back to opening our bag of chips. When we then started to hear the blaring sound of a semi-horn, Being on such an empty and dark road, it was odd to hear it, which caused us to look back up at it again.
Starting point is 02:36:52 We watched, as we heard the horn get louder and saw the lights get closer and brighter. We watched, and as it got closer, we were able to make out another light coming from the side of the truck. We continued watching as it got close enough to finally make out what the light was. It was actually sparks from where a tire should be. The truck had its cabin light and brights on, and was practically laying on the horn. We watched as it passed us, horrified, as this huge semi-slow drifted through to the other lanes of traffic. It was grinding the cement barrier on our side. We turned around and saw this until the light was barely visible and we could no longer hear the horn.
Starting point is 02:37:38 I didn't know what's to say or what's to do. if we were still on the road, what would have happened to us? And my dream, it had to be related, right? I woke up to Wyatt's scream, but also a bright light, like what you would expect if a large truck was coming right at you, right? I think Wyatt was trying to keep me calm, or maybe himself, and said, Well, that was pretty scary. I nodded in agreement, but we just continued to sit there.
Starting point is 02:38:14 After a few minutes, he pulled out his phone and called 911 to report what we had just seen while I sat there silently. After the call ended, we got back on the road and drove in silence, practically tensing up at every car that we saw that came from the opposite side. I think that this incident did a number on both of us, because we ended up stopping at some grocery, store and just slept there overnight. The next morning, I still felt a little shaken, but I tried to move on thinking that we got lucky. We'll just continue being vigilant on the road and enjoy our vacation. The rest of the trip didn't have anything similar happen and why it seemed like he had gotten past it, but I still had this lingering in my head as to what all of that was about.
Starting point is 02:39:06 I know deja vu. I've experienced that many times before, but this dream felt so real. Like, it happened, but we just reset or something. Wyatt and I have since gone our separate ways, but we're still friends. We never talked about this since the time of that road trip, and when I had tried to bring it up before, he never really wanted to have the conversation. Other than my sister and a friend, I haven't really talked to anyone about this because it's something that still disturbs me. But I finally felt the urge to share it to see if anyone else has experienced something similar.
Starting point is 02:39:52 That way, at least I would know that I'm not alone. I'm not sure if this is creepy to anyone else, but it sure did spook my friends and I. My friend tells me that she has some news and she wants to tell me about it. She was pregnant, so I'm assuming it's something about the baby. Her and her boyfriend, who is also my best friend, pick me up and we go to get some food. For context, we live in a very big city and usually go to the inner parts of the city to get some tacos. The neighborhood is pretty ghetto, but... not altogether dangerous.
Starting point is 02:40:46 We're used to eating around the area, so it's nothing we thought twice about. We pulled into a parking lot that has many cars. The taco spot that we went to was on the street corner, and it was pretty popular. My guy friend asks us what we wanted, and said that he was going to go get the food and leave me and his girlfriend in the car so that we could talk. I assumed it was something serious, as we used. usually stick together. She proceeds to vent to tell me that she had a miscarriage,
Starting point is 02:41:20 and that she feels pretty sad about it, as she was really happy she was going to be having the child. Now, keep in mind, the parking lot was filled with cars, but most of the cars were either empty or had people eating inside of them. There was a parking spot that was empty right next to us. As I begin to comfort my friend and tell her how sorry I was for her, we see what seems to be a Mercedes pull up next to us was pretty new. We thought nothing of it and continued our conversation.
Starting point is 02:41:56 We noticed a man get out of the car, and he seems to be dressed similarly to Johnny Depp in the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. As my friend continues to tell me about what she plans to do next, this random guy who, not but two seconds ago, just parked next to us, begins to knock on our window. Being from the city, and having to deal with random crackheads and strangers pretty often, my friend and I just told him to go away in that we didn't have any money, even though the guy looked like he had money.
Starting point is 02:42:32 Just as we tell him to go away, he starts speaking to us in Spanish, saying, and the baby, meaning and the baby. My friend and I glanced at each other in complete confusion, not knowing how this man knew the subject of our conversation. We had tinted windows, so he couldn't really see us as it was in the late evening. But he begins to cuff his hands and put it to the window so we can see inside of the car. My friend is literally staring at him. And he continues to ask us questions like,
Starting point is 02:43:10 Where is the baby and how is the baby in Spanish? My friend and I are really confused, and she just looks at me with this dumbfounded look that I've never seen before from her. She tells him that he can go screw himself in Spanish, and as she starts cursing at him, he starts trying to open the door. Thank God our doors were locked. Just as I was about to start heading to the door to unlock it, so I could confront him face to face, my friend holds me back and says,
Starting point is 02:43:42 wait, I think there's something wrong with him. I was about 5.10, 22 years old, and I weighed about 200 pounds. This guy was about 5'6, middle-aged, so I knew I could have taken him. Just as my friend is trying to hold me back, my guy friend comes back with the tacos in hand. He's about 6-2 and weighs about 230. Being that my friends and I are punks, we obviously dress a certain way, and some people get intimidated by it. The guy that was trying to open the door seemed to have gotten intimidated by my massive friend, and got in his car and drove off as my guy friend looks on in confusion about what had just happened.
Starting point is 02:44:29 He gets in the car, and we start to tell him about what had happened. Now, his girlfriend and I have played pranks on him in the past, just to mess with him, so my guy friend is a little skeptic about if we're telling the truth or not. He tells us maybe this guy overheard our conversation and was on crack, and started to ask us random questions about the baby because that's what we were talking about. She explained to him that that was impossible, because the second that he parked, he got out of his car and started to knock on the door, asking us about a baby.
Starting point is 02:45:08 My friend and I could not have been talking that loud for him to have heard our conversation. Not only that, but she wanted to talk about something else so she could stop crying about her miscarriage. So there was absolutely no way that that guy could have heard us talking about her baby. Now that my girlfriend is more visibly upset, her boyfriend starts to be. to believe us, and says maybe the guy was confusing us for someone else. We sat there for a bit trying to figure out how that was possible, and this random man came out of nowhere and automatically started talking about a baby. Coincidence? Possibly. It was definitely a weird night for all of us. We start to head home. I don't usually scare too easily,
Starting point is 02:45:58 but the situation did shake me up a bit. My head started to race with thoughts of every possible situation. I know this might not be inherently creepy, but I still wondered to this day about that night. How could he have known about my friend's miscarriage? He probably didn't, but then why talk about a baby? Why pull up into the parking lot and go crazy on us for no reason trying to look for.
Starting point is 02:46:28 a baby and then drive away as if nothing happened. About a year has passed since that has happened, and me and my two friends still talk about the incident to this day. We never saw that man again, needless to say, and we never went back to that taco spot again, even though the tacos were really good. I want to preface this story by saying that this one was submitted to me a long time ago by somebody, and I honestly have no idea if I ever used it. I think it ended up getting lost in the mix of stories somehow, and I just didn't realize
Starting point is 02:47:15 it was there, so I'm very sorry to Amy, the person who submitted this, and I hope that if I didn't use it, I hope that that didn't dissuade you from listening to my channel. Just know that it was there, I just apparently missed it or didn't realize it was. And if I did use it, well, I'm using it again. and hopefully you all can still enjoy the story, because it's a good one. It should be in the video, absolutely. So, here we go. My name is Amy, and for privacy reasons, I'll keep out my exact location where this story took place.
Starting point is 02:47:51 I grew up in a smaller suburban town in a Midwestern state. This story is not very horror, movie scary, or bone-chilling, but more so very creepy, Real life. Scary. The neighborhood that my family and I lived in seemed safe enough up until a flow of crimes against children were happening. At one point, a young girl on our block was snatched out of her bedroom window and assaulted right on her front lawn. After that, my parents were extra cautious about where my sister and I were playing. I remember one instance where I was,
Starting point is 02:48:34 in our front yard, with my father who was doing some yard work, and I saw a white unmarked van driving slowly around the block, with the back sliding door wide open. Once my parents had spotted this, they no longer allowed my younger sister and me to play in our front yard, and I believe they even notified the police of that suspicious van. Moving on, this particular incident happened after a year or two. after these scary and creepy occurrences had been happening. I believe I was around 11 or 12, and my sister was just two years younger than me.
Starting point is 02:49:15 One evening during our summer break, my sister and I wanted to get out of the house and ride our bikes. My mom was at work, and my dad was home, and was usually fine with us going out as long as we stayed close in the neighborhood and stuck together. My parents had drilled in our heads the warnings of strangers and what to do should we ever encounter anyone. So, my dad let us take our bikes and bike around the playground at our school, which was no more than two blocks away from our house. Before we peddled to the playground slash park, my sister and I liked to ride our bikes around the parking lot of the ice arena, which was just a block.
Starting point is 02:50:02 up from our home. The ice arena had a large parking lot, which made it fun for cruising your bike around. As we were doing circles around the building, which was deserted, I noticed a tan minivan pool into the parking lot and park in one of the spaces. I didn't pay much attention right away, and my sister and I continued to cruise our bikes around the building, enjoying the summer breeze. Each time we passed that section of the parking lot, I saw the van that was just parked there, and the driver of the van had not exited his vehicle.
Starting point is 02:50:43 I caught up to my sister and stated that it was odd the man in that van was just sitting there and appeared to be watching us ride around the parking lot. My sister agreed, and we decided to leave the area and pedal towards the school playground, which was not far from the arena. As we peddled away from the parking lot, I looked back and saw the van was still parked and didn't follow us. I felt a little more relieved, and we eventually got to the playground. Neither my sister or I felt like playing on the playground,
Starting point is 02:51:20 but I just wanted to ride our bikes around the school building and through the blacktop and playground areas. As we rounded one corner of the school, I noticed the same tan minivan cruising up the street. My red flags started coeing up, and I told my sister the same van that had been parked at the arena was now driving towards the school. My sister didn't seem to mind, however, and stated that she thought we would be safe since there was one or two other kids playing on the playground. Still, I felt a bit uneasy and began to keep my eyes more alert to the van. After circling the school building a few more times, we noticed that the remaining kids at the playground had left. The sun was starting to dip into the sky, which was our dad's rule, that we had to head for home around that time.
Starting point is 02:52:20 I didn't see the van anywhere in the last few minutes and just decided we were okay. But as soon as we started riding through the school parking lot, we saw the van again. It was parked up the small, short hill that led up the school parking lot entrance. My sister and I veered our bikes onto the opposite side to avoid riding close past the van, but the driver of the van suddenly stuck his arm out the window and tried waving for us to slow down. We slowed our pace, but did not stop completely next to the van. The driver then stuck his head out the window and said, Hey, can you two please stop for a second?
Starting point is 02:53:04 I need your help. We braked a few feet from the van, unsure of what to do. The man smiled, but had a concerned look on his face. He said, Sorry to bother you two girls, but I've been driving around because I lost my dog. I'm sure you saw me drive around earlier. because I live in this neighborhood, and I was out looking for him. He's a golden retriever, goes by the name of Buster.
Starting point is 02:53:34 Would you two be willing to come with me to help find him? My sister and I both exchanged nervous looks, and me being the braver one, stated we had to get home as our father was waiting for us. The stranger looked disappointed, and said again that he couldn't stop thinking about his dog and how much he's worried about him being. being left out all by himself and how we could really use our help.
Starting point is 02:54:03 He also added that his dog loves kids, so if he heard or saw a kid calling out to him, he might be more willing to come back. My sister, being the more trusting one, started to get a sympathetic look on her face and began to walk her bike closer to the van. I grabbed her arm and tugged her back. the way this man looked and smiled at us made my skin crawl. I knew even at such a young age that this man was not being truthful. I nudged my sister and said that we needed to leave now.
Starting point is 02:54:40 We began to pedal away and down the road. The stranger did not say anything more and started his car and did a quick U-turn and then sped off in the opposite direction. We peddled home and we kept looking at it. looking behind and around us to make sure that he wasn't following. When we reached our house, we ran in to tell our dad who contacted the police. The next day, we were playing with my childhood friend, Alex, and his sister Sarah, who was a couple years older than Alex and I, and we shared with them the creepy experience
Starting point is 02:55:18 with the man in the van. Sarah got a strange look on her face and said that she and her friend, and Diane were going on a walk in the same neighborhood last night when a man in a tan van drove up to them. He had told them the same story, how he had lost his dog, and how he needed help from kids to find him. Only this time, Sarah's friend had walked up to the van and just close enough to see that the man was not wearing any pants. Sarah said Diane screamed and they ran in the opposite direction of the van. The man sped off, and they made it safely to Sarah and Alex's house, where they informed their mother and she dialed the police.
Starting point is 02:56:04 As Sarah was telling me this, I remember feeling incredibly scared and relieved at the same time how my sister and I could have been victims of kidnapping, or worse. I was relieved that Sarah and her friend weren't hurt too, and that our parents had been diligent in warning us to be wary of strangers. So, even though this story doesn't have an incredibly bad ending, and it's not that scary, it is more so just a good lesson. If you have kids, this goes without saying, but please warn them about strangers and how to avoid a dangerous situation, much like the ones that my sister, Sarah, and Diane, and myself were all involved in.
Starting point is 02:56:52 As a parent now myself, it scares me to think that something like this could happen to my own child. So, please take the story as a good lesson and just be careful. I'd been with my fiancé for two years at the time, known him around four or five, and had a year of no contact in there. In early 2020, there was one point where he threw a giant piece of lexie of lexie. and plastic trophy case covering down the hall after he had stubbed his toe, which should have been a huge red flag. Then, in early October of 2020, one of the first things I wake up to
Starting point is 02:57:48 was my now ex-fiancee on the phone with a friend, stating that I basically wasn't going to clean our cat litter. He's really allergic to the ammonia. He was complaining that we couldn't afford any new litter, which wasn't the truth. It's just that he overspent on a lot of remote-controlled trucks and cars from his work. That was a hobby. And it became obsessive. For more context, my kitchen has a hallway, then a wall,
Starting point is 02:58:21 and then a gap for an entrance for the kitchen, and then another small wall that has a glass cabinet right there. There's basically a small nook that has a kitchen table and cabinet right before the entrance to the kitchen. So I came out of the bedroom and told him to take our dog outside to pee, and that I would clean the cat litter right now. Take some responsibility. I saw that he was soldering LED lights onto the bottom of one of the RC cars, so I was just cleaning up a bit of dishes and small scraps of paper,
Starting point is 02:58:57 recycling, etc. from the living room, and the kitchen, while telling him it was rude of him to say that I was not going to clean for 15 days when I could just do it right now as he takes the dog outside. He then proceeds to speak the words, Do you not see what I'm working with? Do you want me to burn you? And actually started stabbing the air. I got very upset. I unplugged the soldering iron, and said, Take the damn dog out that you do absolutely nothing with,
Starting point is 02:59:32 and I'll clean the litter right now. How dare you? What the hell? And as I was walking out of the entrance to the kitchen, he ended up shoving me against the wall with a glass cabinet. So I was kind of in between a cabinet and a wall, and he shoved me against the wall. My head hit the wall,
Starting point is 02:59:53 and he grabbed my clothes so hard that he was practically grabbing my skin. Then, he just sat back down and continued soldering. I was so upset that that had even happened to me. I literally told him I have PTSD from the father of my child, and now it was him him doing it to me, that I flung a couple of the RC cars that were right beside the cabinet on a plastic shelf unit, and then proceeded to yell at him to get out. Then he said,
Starting point is 03:00:25 huh, we're smashing stuff now, and picked up the heaviest RC and threw it at my glass cabinet. But I was right there and I caught it in the air. It could open my hand and knee really bad that I needed stitches, that I ended up not getting due to embarrassment. I thought it was better than glass being everywhere from my mother's broken cabinet that she'd given me. Four months later, I kicked him out, because he was. was way too rough on our dog because she had had an accident. What a pathetic piece of human flesh. When I was in high school, my friends and I got really into exploring abandoned places.
Starting point is 03:01:18 We used to research places along the East Coast and drive during the summertime to check them out, and take cool pictures. This one time, a kid we knew in my buddy's class told him about this abandoned mental asylum in Maryland. That was really cool because, unlike most places, it was a five-building complex with the large center building that was three stories tall. I forgot the name, but if anyone knows what I'm talking about, feel free to share. Naturally, this piqued our interest, so that weekend we told our parents that we were going on a fishing trip to Maryland, and all six of us road-tripped to go see this place.
Starting point is 03:02:04 We started out by checking out the smaller building in the complex when we first got there, and slowly made our way around the area to look out for security. To give a sort of a layout of the asylum, all the buildings connected to each other aside from the main building and the church that was behind it. So, as we entered the first building, we decided to pull a Scooby-Doo and split up to cover more ground. I got paired with a kid in the group that didn't really want to be there to begin with,
Starting point is 03:02:39 and we went down to the basement of the building. As we went down, I saw that there was a crude doorway near the staircase that was out of place from all the other large hallways upstairs. I convinced the guy I was paired with to check it out on the condition that I went first. The layout of this room was kind of like a ramp. So if you kept walking back, it would get closer to the ceiling and a lot darker. We had one flashlight, which I gave to my friend, and I was using my phone's flashlight. So, as I walked in, I naturally got drawn to walk straight back while my buddy went to the left side instead.
Starting point is 03:03:26 I remember saying to him as we were inside, Damn, this place smells like crap. And when I turned around, the guy I'm with speedwalks towards me and says that we need to leave. Now. Thinking he was just scared, I didn't argue with him, and we left. And I didn't think much of it for the rest of our time there. Later that week, my friends and I are at a party, and were telling people all about the asylum that we had just explored. I start telling people about the main building, and the guy that I was paired up with comes by to hear what we're talking about.
Starting point is 03:04:07 As I start talking about the basement and the room we were in, he pauses the story. He then tells me that there was a reason he made us leave so fast. It was because, as I was saying, that the place smelled like crap, he saw the left side of the room had furnaces and piles of old shoes. and white medical patient clothing. We were in the morgue, and I had no idea. Some context. We live in a town on a river. We also use weed.
Starting point is 03:04:53 We can't buy the delta gummies here in our town, and the nearest place is in a crossroads gas station, about 30 minutes from us, across the bridge, in the next city. state. I got paid and wanted some gummies. My boyfriend said he would drive us up there to eat at the local diner and then do our shopping in the morning. We left about 5 a.m. And when we got done eating, the sun was up already. My boyfriend takes my card and goes into the station. The story. We parked our pickup next to, from what I could see of him, an ancient old
Starting point is 03:05:37 old man in his pickup smoking a cigarette. Whatever, right? It's early, there's a diner, we're surrounded by farms, and in between a couple of big cities. So I don't think much about other people being there. I sit and waited, and when I looked up,
Starting point is 03:05:57 the old man had finished smoking, but he hadn't left yet. Again, whatever. They're busy, so maybe he's just waiting. for a good chance to have plenty of time to leave. Like I said, he's ancient. His truck is older and smaller than my boyfriend's, so our windows aren't directly next to each other.
Starting point is 03:06:20 We were parked pretty close to the door. I suddenly got this really horrible gut feeling after a few minutes. And my gut isn't normally wrong, so I start looking for the issue. I don't see anything weird, but the old man is still there. But he was moving around the front seat of his truck. He starts to open his door, which is directly next to mine, and that feeling gets worse.
Starting point is 03:06:52 I'm trying not to stare and to stay calm, although I feel like I'm going to pass out. I think he was looking at me through his side-view mirror. I made sure the doors were locked and kept watching him. out of the corner of my eye, with my hand on my door just in case. He stopped moving, and after a second shut his door again. And then my boyfriend came out of the store and got in the truck. Thinking about it now, the old man probably saw him and realized he was coming for our truck, and then stopped whatever he was doing.
Starting point is 03:07:30 Anyway, he laughed to himself, and when I asked, after we had to be, started driving, he said he suddenly got the idea to fight that old man out of nowhere, and he was going to kick his door closed if he tried to get any further out of his truck. I told him what had happened just barely a minute before he came outside, and we joked about how weird it was that we were both ready to fight this old man at the same moment, but I'm high now and thinking about it again, I'm really weirded out. Thank you.
