Hey there, friends.
I won't dwell on this too long
because I know you want to get into the stories.
I just wanted to come in here and say that
if you heard on the last episode
that I had a book up for pre-order,
that book has now released
and I actually have purchased
more copies of it to ship out
for autographed copies
if you guys want those.
I know at least two people commented
saying, hey, they were sold out
or they got the last one.
So I ordered more.
So go to coffee.com.
That's K-O-F-I-com slash as the Raven Dreams.
You can purchase signed copies of the book from there.
It will be a couple of weeks because I have to wait for them to get printed and shipped my way.
But I did add more to the stock, is my point.
So if you were interested, they are available again.
And thank you for your interest.
You can also find the book on Amazon.
If you search The Insomniacs Experiment,
it's the only book out there by Raven Adam.
right now, so.
So if you don't want it signed and you want it quicker, you can get it from Amazon, digital or physical.
And yeah, that's all.
I just wanted to let you guys know what's available again.
And again, thank you so much for the interest.
Of course, much love and sleep well.
You may have heard this time and time again, but I didn't grow up in the best environment.
I ended up in an alternative high school after getting into a fight with one of the teachers.
I'm not the same person that I used to be, though, so judge me if you want.
I don't care.
Anyways, the alternative school didn't do us any favors either.
The teachers all looked dead inside.
They all had the same pissed at the world mentality.
They didn't have any cares for us or what happened outside their own classrooms.
And they barely cared what occurred in them.
If you didn't turn in work on time, then it sucked to be you.
There were never grace periods or teachers willing to work with you.
It was an old run-down elementary school that they had turned into an old school,
while the little kids got a whole new one.
It was drab and colorless,
like they ripped out all the happiness, color, and cheer, and took it with them.
I was definitely one that would occasionally skip classes.
too. My home
life wasn't any better.
I never knew my dad and my mom
was hardly ever home.
If she was, she was so blitzed
out of her mind that she could hardly remember
my name.
The only thing I cared about, or
that kept me going, was my little sister,
Shayla. She was probably around six at the
time, and I did everything
for her. I was
often left alone with her to
bathe, feed, and change her when she was younger.
Shayla's grandma, we had different dads.
Would watch her sometimes during the day, but then would drop her off around the time I got
home from school.
I would ask her where my mom was, and she never knew either, but would still leave us at
home.
So it was really just Shayla and I growing up for the most part.
However, there was one other person that I did start to grow close to.
That was Miss Grace.
That was her first name.
And she told us that we could call her by that to be more personal and less of an authority figure.
Grace was completely different from any other teacher.
She was bright, happy and compassionate.
She was never not smiling while in school.
She greeted students in the hallway as they entered her class,
and as they left.
She was always willing to help or explain the curriculum further if someone didn't understand.
She was the math teacher, but she would also help kids with other topics if they came to her,
such as language or history classes.
She was by far easier to approach than the others as well.
She personally made an impact on me when she actually talked to me like another adult,
rather than some delinquent child.
She would talk to me about what I wanted to do with my life.
She asked me what inspired me, what my interests were in the likes.
The fact that she didn't judge me or push me to go to a certain college,
or any college for that matter,
or give me some soapbox speech about wasting my life.
I even talked to her about my little sister.
From then on, I felt like I could talk to her.
talk to her like the mother that I never had.
She asked me about school, how I was doing at home, and even about my little sister.
If not for her, I probably wouldn't have graduated.
Anyways, while I was genuinely grateful for Grace, I was still hanging out with the wrong
crowd.
I didn't have a job, and there weren't many places in the area that hired under 18, so since I was
often left to fend for myself and my sister, and without any food or money in the house,
I had to get money somehow.
So, we stole.
We would go to stores in the next city over so we could potentially get way easier.
We would take anything that could fit into our pockets, cheap jewelry, video games, CDs, or movies.
We also tried cars that were unlocked in parking lots.
I know it wasn't right.
And yes, I do regret everything I did, but at the time, I didn't know what other options I had.
One thing that we never did, though, was break into houses.
We never had any tools to do so, nor was I ever really interested in it.
On this night, though, we didn't have much luck, so my friend suggested that we try to hit up some houses.
He said that he knew a neighborhood that he had been casing recently,
that would be good for it.
It was a normal middle-class-looking place.
Small houses, some in better shape than others,
and most of them didn't even have garages,
so he thought it would be easy to tell if someone was home or not.
I still did not like the idea of houses, though,
because I thought the charges for a B&E were worse
than stealing a few cheap watches from a retail store.
They were all pretty mad at me,
but said that I could either walk home from where I was,
or I could just be the driver slash lookout.
That way I would still get a cut of whatever we made.
I ended up agreeing with the latter.
We got through literally two houses,
one of which they couldn't even get into.
I tried telling them that this was a bust and that we should leave,
but they ignored me,
and they made their way to the next house.
They had me park on the road,
turned the lights off and wait.
After a few minutes of sitting there,
looking out the house and back to the road in front and behind me,
I started getting really nervous.
Something was telling me that we needed to get out of there and fast,
but I had no way to really alert them other than flashing the lights like they told me to.
I decided that I would signal them and then just give some excuse about seeing a car drive by
or a person walking down the street.
However, before I could do so, I heard a gunshot, and it was from the house that my friends were in.
I started to panic.
As far as I knew, my friends didn't have a gun, so my only thought was that they just got shot.
I didn't know what to do.
Do I leave?
Do I try to get them out of there?
Before I had time to process, though, they both came running out of the front door, telling me to get out of there.
I found out afterwards that one of them did indeed have a gun, but I had no idea.
My other friend claimed that he didn't know he had one either, but I still don't know if I believed that.
We burned out of there, went back to one of my friend's places, and checked out our hole for the night.
I know it might sound stupid, but even though I'd gotten into fights, guns were never my thing.
I cut contact with one guy because he was chilling at my place and brought one,
knowing that my little sister was there.
I went off on him and nearly threw him out the door,
so the thought that we may have hurt, if not killed someone, scared the hell out of me.
My friend said that he heard something which made him fire,
but claimed that he didn't see anybody.
My other friend said that he wasn't in the room when he heard the shot,
so he couldn't confirm.
I didn't really believe them.
We had never done this before, so why would you immediately fire instead of trying to leave first?
I couldn't get the thought out of my mind all night,
and I even told them that I wasn't feeling well and decided to walk home.
I personally decided to go to school the next day to try to make things feel as normal as possible.
However, that day would not be the normal.
that I was hoping for.
Ms. Grace's class
had a substitute.
The thing is, though,
Grace never missed class.
She never had a substitute,
so I found it strange.
I didn't put two and two together
until it was almost spelled out for me.
Rumors started spreading
that Grace was into something bad
and that's why she wasn't there.
Then, it turned into
that she had been shot.
I got home and tried to look into it more,
but I couldn't find anything on Grace.
However, they did gloss over the news that there had been a shooting in the same area that we had been in.
It was, in fact, Grace's house that we had broken into.
The guy that shot her dropped out or just didn't go to the school, so he didn't know her.
The other guy did, but didn't have her as a teacher, so I don't know if he really didn't see her or the shot, or what happened.
And I never will.
The news was agonizing to me, knowing that I was part of the reason that she was hurt, someone that cared about me.
Thankfully, she did survive.
And in fact, she came back probably sooner than any other teacher would have.
She'd been shot in the back in her right shoulder.
She had on a sling for a while, but otherwise, she was her normal, smiling and bubbly self.
This added to the grief and guilt that I had.
After talking with her over the next week or so, contemplating my options, I finally cracked.
I didn't want to go to the police, being that my friends would find out, and I would have a label slapped on my forehead.
So I asked to speak to Grace after school, posing it as help with homework.
I had never cried in front of someone before, but Grace was the first point.
person to see it. I broke down and told her everything that happened, and I apologized
until I didn't have a voice. The only thing this woman did was grab my hand, smiled,
and forgave me. She shared with me a quote that was something like,
when you forgive, you don't change the past, but you can change the future. I've held
on to that since then, because not only did she say it, but she showed it.
I asked her if I should go to the police and also asked her if she wanted their names.
She told me that was up to me to decide.
I thought it was over, but before I could make a decision,
apparently my friend that had shot her had been arrested,
as he was bragging about it to others.
I also came forward with my side of the story,
but Grace didn't press charges on any of us.
The shooter had prior charges, so he'd,
was looking at time, but was also shortened and given probation due to grace speaking to the judge
to give them leniency.
Me and my other friend had community service, which was deserved, in my opinion.
This event definitely changed my life.
She could have gone to the police and told them everything, getting us the worst possible
sentences for our age, possibly ruining our last chance at a normal life, but...
She didn't.
She forgave us.
I know this may not have been too scary for some, but being that I was 17 at the time and having crippling guilt that I may have been the cause of someone's death, it was overbearing.
I wouldn't wish that on my enemies.
And also knowing that something like that could happen to someone close to you, someone that means so much to you, was enough to make me realize that life is fragile.
I was wasting my life, and if I didn't make a change, I could end up dead, or even put Shaila's life in danger.
So, please, if you take anything from this, it's to not do what I did.
Make something of yourself, or at least make it to where you've made a difference in the world, or someone else's.
Be someone's grace.
this was something that happened to me and my friends back around 2011.
I don't want to give away too much about where I live
because this event kind of left me a bit paranoid.
So all I would say is that it was not in the U.S.
I grew up in a pretty small town,
and it wasn't the best one in our city either.
It had a healthy population of addicts and street workers.
It wasn't uncommon,
to see someone sleeping next to a building,
or people making blatantly obvious deals right in front of you.
You just looked the other way,
and tried to be as non-existent as possible.
This, of course, was taught by my parents,
along the idea of,
it's not polite to stare,
and as I got older,
I understood that mentality, too.
When I moved out,
I stayed close to home,
maybe 20 to 30 minutes from my old,
neighborhood, but it was never forgotten.
When my dad passed, my mom moved in with my aunt, her sister, because she couldn't bear to live
in an empty home anymore.
They live close to the same neighborhood, so when I went to visit them, I would drive by our
old house and reminisce about the good memories there.
But when I'm not being sappy, my friends and I do like to enjoy each other's company,
typically outdoors and typically with drinks in hand.
This event happened on one of those nights.
It was me and two of my mates, hanging out at an old decrepit park.
Kids haven't visited here in many years, being it was falling apart,
and new and updated one was constructed nearby.
As long as we didn't make a scene, people typically left us alone, too.
After talking a bit, we got on the topic of an abandoned and run-down building, and Liam mentioned a house nearby.
After talking more about it and the liquid courage fueling us, we all wanted to check it out.
All of us came from similar backgrounds, and while I wouldn't call us thieves, we would help ourselves to some things found in long-abandoned places,
typically to sell and get ourselves a bit of extra cash.
We never directly stole from people or broke into obviously used and inhabited homes.
We left our car at the park and walked to the house since it was only about a kilometer away.
As we approached it, you could definitely tell the place had been left for nature to take over.
The grass was overgrown.
The bricked path to the door was cracking.
and uneven, the weeds were climbing the walls of the house, and all the windows were covered by boards.
As we stood near the entrance, trying to get through the gate, I started getting that eerie feeling
that something bad was about to happen. Being who I am, though, I wasn't about to back out
and told myself that it was just the booze making me feel ill, and I let it go. I helped Liam break
the latch, and we walked towards the door.
The doorknob itself was beyond being called a doorknob, so, with just a nudge on the door, we walked in.
Stepping into the house felt like stepping into a time capsule.
It was as if the owner left the place in a rush, but expected to return shortly after.
There was a cup sitting on the coffee table with something dried at the bottom of it.
A small plate sat next to it with what looked like a dried and shriveled up piece of food on.
it. There were still a few dishes in the sink, and a jacket half-asardly thrown on the back of a chair.
Everything was then covered in a thick layer of dust. Even the cobwebs were covered in dust.
We explored room after room, finding remnants of a life that had once thrived within those walls.
But while the floral wallpaper that was now peeling from the walls made it look like a pleasant family home,
One thing I did notice was the complete lack of photos anywhere.
None on the walls, none on the tables or shelves.
There weren't even empty places where they could have been.
Right as we thought we had seen everything,
we stopped in the family room to discuss what we wanted to do next,
when I noticed Jack turned his attention to the wall that he'd been leaning on.
He had now shifted his stance and was running his hand along said wall.
Liam and I stopped talking and were now watching him, waiting for him to explain himself.
Once he realized, he could explain how there was a slight give in the wall and how he could feel a small dip in it.
We watched as he was able to trace a square along the wall and turned to us to ask what we wanted to do.
Jack was adamant that there had to be a good reason to cover that wall, as a normal hole would just have been patched.
Since it was a large square, he felt like it was hiding something.
Liam was a little braver than the rest of us,
so he approached the wall as if he was going to check it out,
and instead threw his shoulder into it immediately caving in the wall.
After we recovered from shock and laughed,
we cleared the area a bit, and we looked in.
I honestly expected it just to be a larger hole that was just made worse,
but that was not the case.
Nope.
We couldn't just end it there with a weird house and nothing of interest.
The hole that we had just recreated seemed to be a crawl space of some sort.
That went down into a small tunnel.
And, of course, my friends are more than willing to crawl through that space.
Jack went first, and then Liam motioned me to go, but I was nervous and something told me not to.
After a shove, Liam went in, leaving me alone.
I could hear them talking as I put my head in,
and they mentioned that there was a whole room on the other side.
I paced there, annoyed that they had left me,
but I now wanted to join them,
not wanting to be left alone, so I reluctantly crawled through.
And, once again, I expected to see some kind of storage room,
but this was set up like an entire bedroom.
The first thing I looked at was the bed.
It was a plain twin mattress with an old-looking quilt thrown on top of it.
No pillow.
Liam pulled back the quilt, and we were met with a very large, dark, brown stain on the mattress.
I immediately backed away and looked around the room.
There had to be cameras and someone had to be messing with us at this point, but there was nothing.
on the walls.
Just a single standing lamp that Jack tried, and it actually turned on.
I was a little relieved to have light, but then the unsettling feeling overpowered me,
knowing that the power was still on and working in this, what appeared, to be an abandoned
place.
I knew my mates weren't in any rush to leave, so I turned to look over the desk, which was the only
other thing in that room.
On the desk there were scattered papers, most of them being newspaper clippings, and the clippings were all about the same thing.
They were all about a string of unsolved killings from my old town and the next one over.
It was something that I tried to forget about as a kid, and after the cases went cold and I moved away, I never thought about it again.
My hometown had become the hunting ground for a serial killer.
As a kid, I remember the fear that gripped our town during that time.
They always targeted the same people.
It was those that were down on their luck, the homeless, and the addicts.
I just remember hearing the stories on the news or when adults talked about them.
I didn't understand the whole M.O. or target thing as,
I was still a child at the time,
but what I did understand
was that there was someone around
that was hurting people,
and it made me fear that the same thing
could happen to me.
Even to this day,
I know that I didn't fit the demographic,
but the fear at the time was real,
and seeing those clippings brought it all back.
As I reread those articles
and tried to make out the scribbled writing
along the sides,
I noticed Jack was trying to pry open the bottom drawer,
It had a lock on it, but there was no key nearby or in any of the other drawers.
So, Liam did what he knew best and brute forced it,
managing to break the lock and part of the wood off as he pulled on it.
It was just another moment that I wished we would have stopped and just left.
In the drawer was a bunch of random but creepy items.
There was a hairbrush full of.
hair, torn pieces of cloth, tarnished jewelry, and even a few pictures of random people.
No one was repeated in those photos.
It could have been anything, sure, but the randomness of the items definitely had trophy
feels to it, and that's whenever I checked out of there.
And I demanded to my friends that we leave.
Jack seemed a little weirded out, but Liam thought it was all funny.
Not having any other way to leave, I crawled back through the tunnel and left the house.
I paced in front of it until Jack and Liam walked out.
We all joked about it, and Liam was adamant that someone was just screwing around for laughs,
but the fact that the wall had been closed off seemed like someone was wanting to hide a dark secret.
We dropped it shortly after, walking back to the park, and talking about anything and everything.
but after going back home, I couldn't forget about that room.
I looked up the case, and after seeing that it was still cold,
I decided to make an anonymous tip.
I called them, and I explained how I happened across a home and what I'd found.
I explained that I didn't take anything but how it seemed like it could be relevant.
They didn't seem too interested until I mentioned the drawer.
They said that they would look into it, and that was the only time that I talked to anyone about it.
I still look up the case, and I can't find anything about a new lead or a suspect being found,
so I don't know if I was helpful or not.
But the fear that I felt being in that room,
knowing that a potential killer or someone obsessed with them,
could have been in that same room,
still creeps me out to this day.
I have a thing that happened to me a couple of years ago that scared the hell out of me.
And I thought that your audience would at least find it interesting and creepy.
It was a pretty normal day,
a fairly basic day off, which meant that it was either a Thursday or a Friday.
Back then, I lived in a townhome that was owned by and on the edge of an apartment complex.
It was a day off, and on the first day off, I always take care of my grocery shopping,
and any other random things I have to do.
Because of this, I'm usually not home from 10 in the morning to sometime in the afternoon or evening.
I know this sounds like it's irrelevant, but it actually does matter as to what happened,
because it sets the scene a little bit.
On this particular day,
I had spent the entire day out doing a ton of errands,
and at the end of the day I had to go grocery shopping.
After I did my shopping,
I got home and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
I pushed the door open,
and the first thing that I did out of habit
was reach for the light switch.
It clicked, the overhead light clicked on and flooded the room,
and then I turned into the main part,
of my living room.
Much to my surprise, it wasn't just the normal empty room.
There was a man sitting in my armchair,
a complete stranger just sitting there.
He was wearing fairly nondescript clothing,
jeans, a black t-shirt,
and a black leather or pleather jacket.
He was literally just sitting there and staring off into the room.
He didn't even acknowledge that I had entered my home.
for a few seconds, or maybe a few minutes, I don't really know.
I just stood there with my four grocery bags in one hand,
and my keys in the other.
My mind was racing through every terrifying possibility.
Was this man going to rob me, attack me?
Did I upset someone to the point that they had sent an assassin to my house?
That's how weird it was.
My brain was going through all,
possibilities.
The man didn't move for several moments.
He just sat there and stared out into the room like he was in a meditative state,
or sedated or something.
I stood there, frozen in fear and confusion,
and was slowly trying to reach from my pepper spray that was clipped to the purse,
that I had accidentally dropped when I jumped the moment I saw him.
Then, as abruptly as the whole event had started,
The man stood up from the chair.
He stood up slowly, and again I started thinking he was about to leap on me.
As soon as he stood up completely, he let out a slight sigh and said,
Well, I should probably get going.
He didn't look at me, didn't acknowledge me,
just said what he said, completely devoid of all emotion,
and then walked past me toward the door.
He got close enough to me that I could smell the tobacco,
on his clothing.
I remained completely rooted
to the spot that I was in,
actually too scared to even move
at this point.
He just reached for the front door,
pulled it open, stepped outside
onto the front porch, and then
disappeared into the night.
Just like that, he was gone.
Once I finally managed
to move, the first thing I did
was lock the door. The
second thing was call the police.
I tried to explain
the whole situation and then within minutes
there was a cruiser right outside my front
door. I told them all about how he was just in
my house, how he didn't do anything other than say that he should go
and then he left.
I described him as best as I could, told them what he
was wearing, what he looked like, etc.
The officers were thorough but thankfully
gentle with how they asked things,
because I was freaking out.
They cleared.
the rest of the townhome, confirmed that
nothing looked ransacked,
and that they couldn't find any signs
of forced entry.
They then said that they would patrol
to see if they could find this
mystery man.
When they left, I confirmed
what they said.
All the windows were shut and locked.
Nothing was missing.
If this man hadn't been
obviously a physical person that opened
the door, I would have
honestly thought that it was a damn ghost.
I have no idea how he got into my home.
I have no idea why he was there.
I have literally zero knowledge as to why he was in my town home,
sitting in my chair and just waiting.
This was a pretty major violation of my security,
and I ended up buying a doorbell camera for my front door.
I needed something to make me feel safer,
and a camera was the only thing that gave me the slightest semblance of security.
For the first few days, every time I got the notification of motion, I would check it,
thinking that it was going to show me someone opening my front door and walking in.
But it never was that, thankfully.
The cops never found the guy, and I never saw him again.
And thankfully nothing like this has ever happened again.
Despite that, that night was probably the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me.
To enter my home and to have a stranger sitting in my chair like that,
only to have them just stand up and walk out.
It was surreal.
So, again, I know that not a lot happened here,
but I thought that your listeners could find the creepiness in the whole situation.
And I hope that I never see that man again.
I had a pretty crazy situation that happened with my ex,
about five years ago.
And while some people may look at it and think that it's not really that big of a deal,
it seriously scared the absolute hell out of me.
I'm going to try and not make this story a long read,
but I am a bit of a wordy person,
and I'm sorry if it comes through as being way too verbose.
So, like I mentioned,
five years ago I was in a relationship with a lovely lady named,
Elena.
Elena and I were dating for about five months,
give or take a couple of weeks.
I was pretty happy with her for the most part.
We got along well enough.
We agreed on most things,
and I think we were both pretty comfortable
with how things were going between us.
It was hitting a point where it was getting kind of serious.
And I was personally thinking about the future.
I really thought that we had some.
something going at around that five-month mark, but then there's the story of how she became my ex.
I showed up at her place one day to surprise her and ask her to go to dinner with me.
I was dressed nicely and ready to spend a good amount of money on literally anything she wanted that night,
except I found out that what she wanted was to spend the night with her ex-boyfriend, and not me.
When I showed up at her place, I literally saw them in the living room through the window,
and while I won't describe what I saw, I will say that it was pretty obvious that she was enjoying her time with him.
It hurt, but it was also one of those moments where the pain led to clarity.
She clearly didn't want to be with me, and I could accept that.
I actually called her phone while standing outside of her place,
and when she answered and told me that she was just watching some TV to relax,
I kind of went into smart-ass mode and said something like,
it must be hard to watch the TV with the TV off and your X on top of you, huh?
She looked out the window and saw me, and I gave her a slight wave,
and then walked back to my car and left.
Like I said, it hurt, but I finished that night out by going to a nice steakhouse
with my mom. That may sound pathetic to some, but I took my mother out for a nice dinner,
and I told her that Elena and I had broken up, and I just wanted to spend some time with her.
She appreciated it, and that's all that matters.
Of course, Elena wanted to try and fix things with me and kept calling me.
I turned my phone off for the night and decided that I would talk to her again the next day,
when she called me and told me that it wasn't what it looked like,
which is a great excuse to use when someone's literally watching the whole thing from the window,
I told her that I didn't care and that she just needed to come over and get the stuff that she had left at my place.
After about an hour of arguing,
I pretty much told her that if she didn't come get her things,
I would be burning them out back that night, so she had about half an hour.
She relented and said she would come get them.
And I thought that that would be it.
I thought that she got it, but of course I was wrong.
When she showed up, she tried her damnedest to convince me that it was a one-time thing and that she made a mistake.
Which, yeah, she left her blinds wide open while going at it with her ex.
That was a pretty dumb mistake.
I told her that I wanted nothing to do with her, and that I was done with our husband.
relationship, and that I hoped that she would be happy with her ex.
It was then that she got aggressive with me, screaming about how I needed to think about
what I was throwing away, and that if I was seriously going to break up with her, I would regret it.
After arguing about all that, she went into the denial phase of things and started screaming
that the relationship wasn't over because she didn't agree to break up with me.
I told her that it wasn't a contract, and that she was being creepy.
But she just kept saying that we weren't broken up.
I'd finally had enough and gotten enough of my anger out, so I told her to leave.
She just said, okay.
But of course, as she left, she tried to exit with, I love you.
I said a few choice words and admittedly shoved her out of my door and locked it.
Once again, I thought that that was the end of it all.
I thought that she would get it eventually, but the constant phone calls and texts proved otherwise.
She called me constantly over the next couple days.
I answered one of her calls and she tried to give me a sob story about how much she missed me and was thinking about me.
I told her that I wasn't thinking about her at all, and that I had never been happier now that she was gone.
She laughed at this.
She actually laughed when I told her that I was happy without her
and said that I was being, in her words, so silly.
After I stopped answering her calls and texts,
I started getting calls from people that I knew.
My mom called me asking why she was calling her.
My brother said that she had showed up at his house,
an hour away, and asked him if he had spoken to me.
She'd only been to his house one time, and that was near the beginning of our relationship,
so I was surprised that she remembered how to even get there.
I got a call from a couple of my pals saying that she was texting them
and asking them to call me and tell me to talk to her.
It really hit the pinnacle when my boss called me and said that she was seriously at my work
asking for me on my day off, and that she had said that she wasn't leaving.
leaving until she spoke to me.
I told him to go ahead and call the cops and have her trespassed,
which she thankfully did.
It was at this point that I called her and screamed at her to leave me the hell alone.
I told her that if she didn't stop bothering everyone,
I would get her restraining order against her.
I told her that I just wanted this to be a peaceful breakup
and that I really wished her the best,
but her future was not with me.
Of course, she kept trying to convince me that we were right for each other, that she was my soulmate, that I needed her.
I told her no, just pretty much like that, and hung up the phone.
At that point, I probably should have contacted the cops and tried to get a no-contact order.
But, honestly, I wasn't sure if they would give me one because she hadn't really broken any laws.
She was being annoying and, I guess, technically harassing me,
but there hadn't been any reports of anything yet,
besides the trespassing,
and they likely wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
So, like a dumbass, I let it go,
and just said that this would be the end.
Then, about a week later,
I realized that it wasn't going to be the thing,
end. I'd been out most the night and had been drinking with my friends just trying to have a
great night with the guys. I'd pretty much gotten to a mental state where I'd forgotten about
the whole thing, and I was pretty well happy, especially with whatever I was mixing that night.
I was not blackout, drunk, but I was definitely feeling it. When I got home that night,
everything was as it was supposed to be in my life.
My friend, Jack, dropped me off and made sure that I got into my apartment and that I got to bed.
He told me that he would lock the door on his way out so that I didn't have to worry about anything.
I drunkenly thanked him, and that's the last thing that I remember before passing out on my bed.
I remember it, though, so that tells me that I was not blackout drunk.
just pretty drunk
when I finally woke up the next morning to my head starting to hurt
I opened my eyes and nearly pissed my pants
as soon as I opened my eyes I saw Elena in the bed next to me
just staring at me with a creepy smile
I completely flipped out and asked her what the hell she was doing
and she told me that she was watching me sleep
because I look so cute when I don't know
what's going on.
That told me all I needed to know.
I grabbed my phone, and I called 911.
I told them that my ex-girlfriend had broken into my home, and that I needed the police
there right away.
The whole time that I was on with the dispatcher, she was screaming about how she was going
to tell the cops that I assaulted her, that I beat her and other things.
She told me that she would make sure that I went to prison.
Again, all while I was on the phone with the dispatcher, so thankfully they had it on recording.
I immediately went outside to wait for the cops, and kept the person on the phone until they got there.
Of course, this was a mess in and of itself, telling them that she had broken into my apartment while I was home,
and that I smelled like alcohol because I was drunk the night before.
They definitely didn't see the emergency in what I was saying, but I basically said that I wanted her out of my house,
that my name was on the house and hers wasn't, and that I wanted to charge her for trespassing.
They then, reluctantly, went in and told her to get out, and of course she tried to tell them that I hit her.
At this point it looked like a lover spat to them, so they just did what they could to get her off the property.
I thanked them and asked them how to get a restraining order, and thankfully one of the officers did seem to actually see what was going on, and he gave me the information I needed.
After I got the restraining order, she actually seemed to get that it was over, and she didn't bother me much anymore.
I have no idea how the hell she got into my house.
Jack told me that he made sure he locked the front door.
all of my windows and back doors were always locked, and she didn't have a key.
That is, unless she had stolen my key while we were together and made a copy.
Thankfully, this was pretty much the end of it all, and I haven't seen her since.
The reason that I even thought about this and thought about submitting the story to you,
was that she actually tried to add me recently on Facebook.
I was a bit confused on who it was at first because her first name was Elena, which told me it was probably her, but her last name was the same as mine.
I decided to snoop around on her timeline a bit, and, come to find out, she had actually just gotten out of another relationship and changed her name to match mine.
What's even funnier, after I messaged her and told her to leave me,
the hell alone. I saw that she changed her relationship status to it's complicated.
I'm currently 18 female, but the situation happened in 2021. At the time, I was 16.
It was afternoon, around 3.30 p.m. and I was returning home from class. At the time, there was a
high spread of COVID-19, so school was happening online. But I had no other option.
than to go take the notes for my teacher,
as there was an important exam that we had nearby.
Normally, I wasn't allowed to go outside
because my knowledge of roads and areas was pretty poor,
but my teacher's house was about three kilometers away,
and on the same route as our old apartment,
so they let me.
On the way there, there was this Fuchka stand,
a popular, affordable, and delicious snack in our country,
where I knew the shopkeeper,
childhood.
While I was walking home from my teacher's place, after fetching the notes, I decided to snack
on some of those fuchka, and have a chat with the kind shopkeeper.
The roads were kind of empty at the time, and most of the shops were closed, only a few
passer-bys were here and there.
As I was eating, I felt someone touched my hair suddenly from behind, which startled me.
I had a ponytail.
When I turned around, it was an older woman who looked homeless, probably in her 60s, early 70s, and just smiling at me.
She asked if I could buy her the snacks.
At the time, I kind of felt awkward, and I didn't know how to deny her, so I just said, yeah, sure, even though I didn't carry enough money.
I just asked the kind shopkeeper to give her my part of the snack that was left.
I didn't really mind this, but when I started to leave, she grabbed my right hand tightly and said,
God bless you, child, if I could see my granddaughter, she would be just like you, and things like that.
I was awkwardly smiling and nodding at the time because I was uncomfortable.
I did try to pull my hand away from her grip politely, but she didn't budge.
Then she started talking about how she raised her daughter.
and son, and how her drunkard but rich husband used to beat both of them up, and pretty much
assault them, and how she kept silent about all of it because of the money. And later on,
when her children grew up and got jobs and got married, her husband got into gambling and
lost all of his money, then went into debt, and died of liver failure. Now she was helpless.
She went to her children, but they resented her because they were,
greedy, so they didn't help her, as they were happily settled into their lives.
She told me how she lost everything and stuff like that for the next two hours.
I did sympathize with her, but at the same time, I had to return home because I was late.
The woman had very eerie body language.
She later on asked me about where I lived, and dumb me at the time told her about it.
She asked my dad's name, so I told her.
And she said that she knew him and started saying things like how he was a nice man.
That wasn't a surprise to me, as my dad is popular around the locality,
as he's a helpful person who participates in charity work and things like that.
So I don't know what got into me, but I asked her for a description of my dad,
and she literally described him total opposite.
She just described my physical characteristics.
But the thing is, I look like my mother,
and me and my dad don't have similar body skin colors or height,
even though I do have his smile and nose.
I said okay and tried to pull my hand away, but she didn't budge again.
Mind you, she was holding it for two hours,
and while we were talking, she was kind of walking me towards the starting of this dark lane by the road.
She then kept on talking about how she wanted to take me to her home and feed me some sweets.
That's when it clicked for me.
She told me that she lost everything.
So how was she going to take me to her home?
Especially in that dark lane.
I got so frightened that I told her I needed to get back home or that my parents would scold me
and actually started using a bit of force to free my wrist from her grip.
That's when she literally started dragging me towards.
the lane and was like,
no, you fed me snacks.
Now you have to take my return gift.
I pulled my hand away from her grip with full force,
and I straight up ran home.
I was breaking out in cold sweats as I reached home,
and understandably my parents were angry and confused when I got there.
They did understand what happened when I explained the whole situation to them.
I was really scared at the time.
But I truly feel guilty if she was just a genuinely nice old woman.
But it was her vibes, mainly that were really creepy.
About three years ago, when I was 18, I worked as a waiter in a restaurant in the mall.
I'm very introverted, but it has never affected my relationship with my customers.
But speaking to people I wasn't serving gave me major butterflies.
I had just finished my shift around 1700 and was walking out
when I noticed a woman who looked in pain holding her stomach was looking at me.
I had to walk past her to get to the exit,
and I was trying to avoid her because I was not looking for conversation,
and I hated when people asked for money.
I know it's selfish, but I worked really hard for the little money
that the customers had tipped me that day.
I maneuvered my way around the people, but she called out to me.
I acted like I didn't hear her and moved faster.
Eventually she ran to me and grabbed my arm crying.
Please, please, brother, I got children, and I have cancer of the tummy.
She lifted up her dirty shirt and showed me a large surgery wound across her stomach.
I told her that I didn't have anything, but she continued to badger me.
Eventually I just ran to the stairs and went upstairs and saw her chasing, but I was way faster.
She slowed down at the second case to catch her breath, and I turned in to get off at the third floor where she could not see me.
I took the elevator next to the stairs back to the first floor so I could get to the exit.
Eventually I got to the bus stop and was on my way home.
When I got off at my stop, I went to the corner shop, I went to the corner shop,
to get some bread.
At the end of the road, I saw the woman from the mall and her boyfriend.
They must have definitely seen me, even though I made an effort to take a longer way home
so they wouldn't have seen me.
Around 1900, I get a knock at my gate.
I live in a house that has two slide gates in front of the main entrance.
I looked out the window, and, to my horror, I saw the woman and her boyfriend.
I stayed quiet and hoped that they would just go away,
but they stayed outside my house for two hours,
until my parents arrived.
They begged my parents for money or food to feed their kids.
My father found it weird that they were there at 2100,
so he told them we didn't have anything,
and to get away from the house before they called the police.
Surprisingly, they left without any hassle.
I told my parents that these people were begging me for money at the mall,
and that they had followed me home,
and then stayed outside the house for two hours.
We never saw them again after that day.
I'm a 30-year-old male.
I was having a bit of a dry patch with dating.
I'd broken up with my fiancé, and I was absolutely crushed by it.
I found out that she had been cheating on me through the last six months of the relationship,
I didn't want or need anything serious, though.
Mainly I wanted to see what was out there, maybe find a friend or something.
I made my profile, matched with a couple of women who I was attracted to, and liked their profile.
It was a mixed result.
Some of the women seemed to like me, and others weren't really all that interested.
It happens, though.
One of the women seemed nice at first, let's call her Julie.
She worked as a nurse and was pretty busy.
Given my job and other commitments, that worked well for me.
I didn't want someone who could potentially become too clingy.
Julie and I messaged each other, exchanged some pictures and talked to each other.
She had a nice voice.
I didn't tell her where I worked, but I didn't realize that she had somehow
managed to find where I worked.
I work as a lawyer in a local law firm.
She came to my workplace.
We hadn't even gone on a date or met up yet.
I wasn't very happy to see her, to be honest.
I came out and spoke to her,
and I politely asked her not to come to my workplace again,
and stated that it made me uncomfortable.
She agreed that it wasn't the best,
and things seemed to be okay.
I was completely put off by her behavior that I decided I didn't want to have anything to do with her.
I sent her a message later that day and told Julie that I didn't want to talk to her anymore.
Looking back, I probably should have just ghosted her and left it at that.
But I removed her and then blocked her.
The next day I go to the office and the security guy walked up to me.
He told me that my friend was back again.
When I turned to look at her, she was waiting outside the company property, just staring at me.
I told the security office that I wanted nothing to do with her and to keep her away.
He agreed.
I started noticing her around more and more.
Eventually, I put her out of my head and found a woman that I did get along with.
She always made me smile, and I decided that it was time to give it a go.
We went out on a couple of dates together, and after a month or so of dating, we decided to actually be a couple.
Things were going well.
She called me, and she sounded upset whenever I answered.
She then asked me if I was cheating on her, and this took me by surprise.
I wasn't, and I told her that.
and she then told me that someone called Julie
messaged her on Facebook
and told her that we were together.
My girlfriend believed me and told her to screw off.
She, however, kept trying to contact her and message her.
It actually took months of Julie harassing my girlfriend
before she finally disappeared.
I don't know why or how, and I don't care.
All I'm happy about is that Julie is no longer in my life.
The story takes place in February of 2022 in the American Midwest.
All names will be changed for privacy reasons.
So my friend Alice and I decided that we want to go do some urban exploring.
We want to take some cool pictures and, just in general, see some amazing old architecture.
We decide on spots that I will not name in this story,
as urban exploring is not acceptable in the uninsual.
eyes of the law. We plan for the day, gather what we need, and head out to the location.
We drive separately and meet up once we're there. Luckily, there is still a parking lot that we
can convene at. We park our cars, say our hellos, and start walking towards the building.
Now, at this location, there are three buildings, one of which is still in use as a local business.
The other two, however, are in disarray.
Those are the two that we have our sights set on.
We gather our belongings and start walking towards the dishevelled buildings.
There is spray-painted graffiti all over the inside and outside of the buildings.
Some graffiti reads funny or weird things that some kids wrote,
and some writing seems more menacing.
Of course, the menacing graffiti was most likely to,
done by kids as well.
But it did set a tone of sorts.
We entered the building after taking a few picks of the outside, and when we walk in, we
noticed it's a good 10 degrees cooler than the already crisp outside air.
We meander through the halls and see that the place is practically falling apart.
Alice begins to tell me about the last time they were here, the person they were with at the time,
mysteriously ended up with three large scratches on their arm.
They never fell or even brushed against a wall.
Alice said that they could feel just a presence, and not a good one.
They said that their chest was tight the whole visit, and it felt hard to breathe.
As we walk through the first building, we take note of the interior,
and talk about what this place might have looked like back in the day.
As we're chatting, I see a car driving and coming towards us.
I scream,
Car.
And then immediately after, Alice screams, run.
As fast as we can, we bolt out of the building trying to avoid a felony charge for trespassing.
We make it out, panting, and worried that a cop has got wind that we were there.
However, it was just a pass or through, and the car was now gone, and,
nowhere in sight.
We build the courage to then go into the second building.
This building has a sense of heaviness to it.
We're exploring around and decide to take a photo in an aesthetic-looking part of the interior.
To take this shot, I had to go down about half a level, and Alice stayed on the first floor.
I went down and into the little closet room that you could see down into from where Alice was.
Alice starts snapping photos
when all the sudden we hear
Hello?
We freeze
Alice looks at me and I look at them
Alice shouts once more
Run
We scatter like cockroaches
Sure that a police officer is outside waiting
with handcuffs and a felony charge
But once we gather ourselves and make it outside
We see that there's no cars on the premise
or even driving away.
Other than our own vehicles, of course.
We walk around the premise, and to our disbelief, we see no one.
Not a single person is to be found.
We're both shaken, and can't believe what just happened.
We both heard a man say hello.
We call it quits for the day and decide that we've gotten enough photos,
and as we're leaving, I look up at the building that we were just...
in, and I see
something.
I'm not sure what, but
I see movement, if that
makes sense.
The next day, I wake up with
giant scratches on my belly.
It makes a perfect
A shape on me.
I think it's weird, but I don't
think too much about it until I tell Alice.
They're in shock.
They say,
like, A for
Alice?
I gasped and immediately cleansed my apartment.
There have been no other marks on my body since.
Alice and I agree that we both have spent enough time at that location,
and we have no desire to return.
This happened in November of 2014.
I went to Walmart to buy groceries while my 16-year-old daughter was attending her homecoming dance.
I tried to do my grocery shopping to coincide with her 11 p.m. pickup.
All at once, I realized that it was about 5 till 11 p.m.
And I was still standing in line to get checked out.
About that time, one of their customer service supervisors walked by me,
and I mentioned her explaining that I had to pick my daughter up,
and if she could hold my cart,
I would come back and check out as soon as I picked up my daughter.
She agreed, and had someone take my cart to the cooler
and told me to tell them at the service desk when I got.
got back. So off I go to pick daughter up, and we arrived back at Walmart at about 11.15 p.m.
My daughter came inside with me, and as we were coming into the store, a man about 50-something
walked over in front just past me, and peered down the front of my daughter's strapless pink
formal, which, from a couple of hours of teenage booping around and dancing had become looser,
and he then mentioned what he could do with her.
and that she happens to be well endowed.
He had a female companion with him when he walked in.
I could see him and her out of the corner of my eye.
I don't know if this was his girlfriend or a relative of his,
but she watched and heard him say this and said nothing.
I felt like I was in a stupor.
Like, did this just happen?
The split second, I was stunned that anyone would have the audacity to walk up
and say this to my daughter, right in front of me, her mom, walking right beside her.
I became completely enraged, and I stepped between his leering eyes and my daughter.
He asked her another inappropriate question, and after stepping in front of him and putting myself between him and my daughter,
I asked him if today was a good day for him to die.
Honestly, I was running on pure rage and adrenaline, which probably gave him.
me more guts than brains in that moment.
He glared at me and tried to walk in tighter and intimidate me.
I told him to get the F away, and he finally walked back over to who he was with,
but continued to glare at me as they went on inside Walmart ahead of us.
I absolutely could not believe that this had actually transpired.
My daughter was in tears and scared beyond all reason.
I took her straight back to the women's department and had her put on a sweat
jacket and zip it up. We paid for it in line with my groceries. If I'd really thought about it
and not been running on adrenaline and still having the shock factor going on, in hindsight,
I should have left the store, called the police and gone straight home. At the same time,
the thought crossed my mind that he might just follow us to the car, and then what? I think if she
had been alone regardless of what she was
wearing, he still would have approached
her. If someone is this
brazen inside a public store,
what is he capable of
in a dark, isolated place?
The whole situation
chills me to the bone.
I think the only reason he
walked away was because I
stood up to him and didn't flinch.
To have walked up to my
daughter, passed me on her left,
and stand so close to her,
and then looked down the front of her dress
and say what he said to her is unbelievable.
I never thought.
I just reacted with pure rage that he would dare to do what he did.
I never again went to that Walmart late at night again,
and have warned my daughters to always be aware of their surroundings,
not to be carelessly talking on their cell phones,
and to always pay attention to things coming and going.
I have a fairly short story from when I was a teacher's assistant.
assistant at an elementary school.
I was working my way to trying to be a teacher, but this was actually the event that made
me rethink whether or not that was the career path that I wanted to take.
The class that I was an assistant to was a second grade class, meaning the kids were around
seven years old.
I genuinely loved the class, and I worked under one of the nine.
nicest old ladies, Ms. Matthews.
She was a very smart old lady, but she was also pretty old-fashioned, and she kind of had this
mentality of, just let the kids be kids, and I think that might have been one of the reasons
that the situation escalated to where it did. I'm not going to give the details of every
single thing that happened, but I'll include the most important ones, the ones that
really showed the situation escalating.
In this class, there were a bunch of really sweet and innocent kids,
and then there was one girl that were going to call Mary,
obviously not her real name.
Mary was a very quiet child,
and at the beginning she seemed like she was just shy.
I tried my best to talk with her and try to get her to open up,
but she was very shut off and reclusive to both myself and Ms. Matthews.
She would start to talk to us about things, but then would just suddenly stop and be quiet.
The first thing that happened with Mary was a simple argument between her and a boy in the class.
It was during an indoor recess.
We had to stay inside because it was downpouring outside.
The kids were playing various games in the class room.
room. Some of them were drawing at their desk and such. Mary and a boy from the class were in the
corner playing one of the kiddie card games that the teacher had, and I could hear her get angry
at him over something. He said something back to her, and she responded by getting louder with him.
And after a few minutes, she stood up and shouted at him. It's not that she shouted that was the scary
part. It's what, she shouted. She stood up and screamed, I'm going to effing cut your penis off,
but in much less friendly words, words that a seven-year-old should not know nor be saying.
I pulled her out of the classroom and spoke with her about her words, and there was some minor
punishment, but we just ended up sending a note home with her to her parents explaining the
situation. After this, she went back to being just kind of the quiet kid in class,
and it seemed like a one-off incident, until about three weeks later. The kids were in gym class,
which was taught by another teacher. During this class, myself and Ms. Matthews were back in our
room doing grading on some of the papers. About ten minutes in, Ms. Matthews got a call on her
desk phone and as soon as she answered it, the look on her face went from happy to upset,
and she hung up saying that we needed to head down to get the class.
Come to find out, Mary had bitten another kid during a game of dodgeball.
She got hit with the ball and had seemingly out of nowhere, ran up to the kid that threw the
ball, and bit her shoulder really hard.
Thankfully, she wasn't bleeding, but she was.
She was in pain, and the bite mark was pretty deep.
We ended up pulling Mary back to the classroom and talking to her about the whole thing.
We asked her why she attacked another student.
And she, with literally no emotion, said,
I don't like her.
She's too cute, and I want her to feel pain.
Obviously, this is a problem, and it was something that we had to address with her parents.
We ended up calling her grandmother because we had to feel pain.
couldn't get a hold of her listed parents.
She came up and asked us what happened,
and we explained the whole situation to her.
She seemed to not really care about it,
and she tried to explain that Mary had some problems.
When I tried to ask her about her issues
and kind of implied that they may have been behavioral issues
and that she should potentially be checked out by a psychiatrist,
Miss Matthews actually cut me off and told me that this was a situation that the family should deal with,
and that I was out of line for saying anything about it.
After that, I shut down, and I stopped talking for the rest of the meeting.
Mary was suspended for a couple of days, but she was back in the classroom the next week.
And it was pretty clear that the other kids were scared of her,
but also being kids, they were making fun of her for the situation.
Of course, this led to escalation, and it was pretty quick.
It was about three or so days after she had come back,
and the teacher had done some reorganizing of students,
and after everyone sat down,
the girl that was now sitting next to Mary raised her hand.
When she was called on,
she immediately asked Ms. Matthews if she could move,
away from Mary because she didn't want to be bit.
Some of the other kids laughed at the comment, and I could see that Mary was getting read.
I made an immediate statement that her question was inappropriate and that she needed to apologize,
but as soon as I started talking, I sat there and watched Mary grab a pencil off of her desk
and stab it into this girl's arm.
When I say stab, I literally mean stab.
the pencil went in to her arm.
She started screaming in pain,
and Mary just sat there smiling at this girl while she was bleeding all over the floor,
and the rest of the class went into full chaos.
Ms. Matthews called down to the principal's office,
and they ended up calling 911 for the girl while I tried to stop it from bleeding,
and tried to keep the other kids calm.
The whole thing was a huge disaster, obviously.
After the whole situation was taken care of and parents were contacted,
I asked to speak to the principal alone.
I wanted to talk to him about Mary and her issues to see what could be done for her.
Come to find out, except the one incident where she had been suspended for two days,
nothing else had been documented nor mentioned to the principal.
And he thought that that was just an isolated and random incident.
I told him about how I had mentioned that she had behavioral issues and that I was shut down.
And he just said that that shouldn't have happened.
But that was pretty much it.
Mary ended up being removed from the school and there was a whole thing where the school tried to push non-violent resolutions to the kids.
It was a great idea, but implemented way too late.
I seriously hate that no one tried to do anything.
to help Mary, that she ended up going the wrong way, and I really do think that it had something
to do with her home life, but I have no way to prove that.
In the end, I put in my resignation and I left the district, and it really did make me once
to not work in education. I sincerely hope that Mary did find help, that someone took the time to listen
to her, to figure out what her issues were, and
did everything they could to assist her.
She seemed like she was such a sweet girl,
but something was definitely wrong with her.
As a teenager, I waited tables in a local restaurant to pay for the gas from my car.
I met Mr. Creep there.
In my naive mind, he seemed normal at first,
despite the fact that he was 20 and was wanting to date a 17-year-old.
leaving my job after dark scared me,
so I taught myself to get in my car,
shut the door, and lock it in one fluid motion.
It made me feel safe.
One night I was leaving work,
and had just gotten into my car when Mr. Creep seemed to appear out of nowhere,
yanking on my car door handle to try to open it.
I looked into his eyes for the split second before he smiled,
and what I saw absolutely,
chilled my bones.
I don't know how to describe
the evil that I saw.
From then on, I was
terrified of him, but
I didn't let on because I was
afraid of what he might do if I told him
that I never wanted to see him again.
After this,
he constantly lied to try
to impress me, and
tried to invent ways of being alone with me.
But my instinct was to
run, so I avoided
him.
About two weeks after this incident, the restaurant got robbed,
and there was significant evidence against Mr. Creep,
just not the kind that allowed the cops to charge him.
I sent all of my text conversations with Mr. Creep to the police chief in hopes that it would help.
Mr. Creep slithered away after that,
but I was always looking over my shoulder.
About five years ago, he messaged me on Facebook,
out of the blue.
He went on about his top secret military clearance,
as well as a huge acreage that he owned.
It made me nervous,
and I felt like he was trying to spring a trap or something,
but I tried to put it out of my mind.
Then, today, I was looking at posts about an unsolved murder
when I saw his mugshot.
He's now facing murder charges,
as well as two other violent felony charges.
I'm so glad to know that he's locked up,
but so overwhelmed about how correct my instincts about Mr. Creep were.
I feel like I escaped him.
Some short backstory.
This happened almost a year ago.
I'm 19 female, and I live in a small town in Australia.
I always take my 13-year-old Jack Russell Mick,
for a short 20-ish-minute walk down the road at around 7 to 7.30 p.m.
On this night, I had to take him at about 8 to 8.30 p.m.
As I had to work late.
And the sun was just setting to the point where I could see, but not too well.
That could have also just been my poor eyesight, but it was enough to manage without needing a flashlight.
I did have one on me. I just didn't want to use it.
we had just made our loop around the small community garden,
and as I was leaving the gate,
I looked to my right and saw a person in black heading towards me.
I was also wearing all black, so we both looked pretty suspicious.
But out of panic, I crossed the road and then headed left.
They did the same, not one second later.
I'm a naturally fast walker, but I made myself go faster.
All I had to do was cross.
the road one more time and turn right, go down a few houses, and then I'm home.
So, walking faster, but not enough to where it was obvious, I crossed the road and turned right.
This person did not cross the road, but did turn right, and stayed on the other side of the road.
We were about parallel on the street. I knew that if they crossed, I could run and I wasn't too far from home.
When I got into my yard, the person stopped across the road.
At this point, I realized the door was locked and I didn't have a key.
The person stayed across the road, so I rang the bell and was pounding on the door.
My older brother answered, and the person had just made it to our yard.
My brother told the person to screw off, and he walked back the way he came.
My brother asked who it was, and I explained all this to him.
From that day, I've decided to take my dog for a walk before work, in the early morning, rather than after work at night.
I do enjoy sunset walks, but for my safety, I've stopped, and still don't, even after a year.
I have a story about a situation that happened when I was on a field trip way back in elementary school.
This was a long time ago, somewhere close to 30 years ago, so I may have forgotten some of what happened, but I think I remember a majority of it, and definitely enough to properly demonstrate why it was so terrifying.
This happened when I was in the third grade, so I would have been around nine at the time, I believe, the elementary school that I had.
attended, had an agreement with the local education farm-like place, so that we could go and
visit it every year from first through third grade. I say farm-like, because it wasn't set up
to be an actual farm, but at the same time it was? I'm not really sure how to explain it beyond
it was a farm, but it was built to be more about educating the kids about what happened.
happens at a farm, than actually producing food and products.
They did have cows, and they had a few orchards with various things, which is where a lot of
the learning occurred. They would teach us about plants, pollination, the life cycle of
insects, basically anything you could think of that a young kid would need or wants to learn
about nature. I always loved going on these trips.
Because while we had to do all the learning activities and fill out the worksheets,
and we also got to enjoy the petting zoo section of the area,
and we got to feed the baby animals, or at least see them.
And I have always been an avid animal lover.
So, really, this was my favorite time of the year.
Of course, we were a decent-sized class being a public school,
so the teachers would always send home letters asking parents to join us to be chaperones
and to make sure that we stayed out of trouble.
My parents never signed up for it, but we usually had two or three that were willing to come along with us,
and they would just drive out to the farm on their own to meet up with the class there,
so they didn't have to ride the bus with the students.
On this particular field trip, things went about as normal.
and we got there in the morning after a long bus ride,
we met with the employees and parents that were chaperoning,
and the class was split into two groups,
which basically got to do things in opposite order.
I should probably mention that the parents and students
were asked to wear a specific color to identify which group they were in.
I was in the green group, so I was wearing a green shirt,
and the other group was the red group,
so they were all wearing red shirts.
Group 1 had to go to the orchard,
and group 2 had to go to the animal section of the farm first,
and then after lunch we would switch.
I was in group 1, which was being accompanied by two adults,
neither of which I personally knew,
and then the employee that was taking us on the tour and explaining things.
We got through the first half of the day,
had our lunch,
and then had some free time before the day,
second unit of the lesson. So we were told that we could walk around the petting zoo area,
and that we needed to come back when they blew the whistle. I was super excited to see all the animals.
I loved petting the goats and feeding the chickens, and they were two of the things that I was
really excited to do. I ran over to the section where they were and went over to get the chicken
food. When I went to their pen, I noticed that there was a man standing off to the side.
I thought that he was a parent based on how he was dressed, so I asked him if it was okay to feed them.
He sort of glanced over at me and then nodded silently, and then stepped over to where I was.
Again, he was dressed similarly to the other group's parents, a plain red shirt and a pair of blue jeans.
It was close enough for my nine-year-old brain to think that he was a trustworthy person.
I leaned down and started feeding the chickens from my hand and tossed some of the food onto the ground,
just genuinely enjoying feeding the cute little birds.
When this guy asked me if I wanted to see something cool, I, of course, said that I did.
And part of me thought that he was going to show me something cool with the chickens or one of the other animals.
I sat there watching this man intently.
He opened the gate to the pen, walked in, and went over to one of the chickens and grabbed it.
Again, not too crazy, the man just knew how to catch a chicken.
Now, the next part of the story, I'm not going to get into full detail, because it was graphic.
What I am going to write here is that this man pulled a knife from his pocket,
and he very violently killed this poor bird.
I just kind of sat there in absolute shock
watching this man do what he was doing
until it finally clicked in my head
that what was happening was a horrifying thing.
I think it was the time between shock and realization.
I immediately started screaming at the top of my lungs
as I started bawling and freaking out over what just happened.
The few moments between my starting to scream
and people rushing over,
this guy was just sitting there holding this dead chicken
and laughing at the whole thing.
When the employees showed up,
one of them actually tackled this guy and held him down
and was screaming about calling the cops.
My guess was because he saw the knife and blood
and he went into defensive mode.
I was grabbed and pulled away from the scene,
and all the kids it had followed were pushed out of the area
and into the building off to the side.
From what I remember, the cops did show up, and they took the sky away.
They ended the field trip early and kept us all inside until it was time to get back on the buses.
They sent a notice home with the parents about what happened,
and mentioned that the farm was going to increase security protocols and employees and all that,
and also mentioned that there would be no time where any students would be left unattended from there on.
Unfortunately, this was one of those events that got seared into my brain, and it became a core memory.
I remember the entire event, and I really wish it was one of those things that I could just forget.
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that it's never going to go away.
I, mid-20s female, went to the local grocery store around 5 p.m.
It's winter and is getting dark by 5 p.m. where I live.
I was in an aisle taking my time deciding between the options
When this late 20s, early 30s-looking guy with light features,
glasses and a scruffy beard comes up right next to me,
and he just stands there.
I didn't think much of it or even look at him at first
because I figured, whatever, he's just looking too.
But then after a few seconds, I noticed he wasn't moving or doing anything,
just standing there.
So I looked at him and he was already staring at me.
And for half a second I thought that he might say something to me.
So I stood there for a second just looking back at him.
He didn't say anything, so I just turned and fast walked away.
At this point I'm thinking, okay, that was weird, but whatever.
Probably just an awkward guy who doesn't know how to talk to women.
Then, not 30 seconds later, I...
I'm in another aisle, and I see him out of the corner of my eye coming down the aisle that I'm in,
again, staring right at me.
So again, I walked away as fast as I could, and went right to the self-checkout.
While I was at the self-checkout, I'm looking over my shoulder the whole time, making sure that he isn't behind me anymore, and he is not.
I started walking out of the store, relieved that, once again, I was just being paranoid.
and then I wasn't ever in any real danger.
As I'm walking out,
I decide to look behind me one more time,
and there he is,
right freaking behind me.
I then noticed that he has nothing in his hands,
no groceries,
and he's heading towards the door right on my heels.
Without even thinking,
I just stopped dead in my tracks.
I look right at him again,
and he's already looking at me,
and then he puts his head down looking at his phone and walks past me out the door.
He bought nothing.
I'm so scared at this point that my head is spinning.
I didn't know what to do.
I could see my car because I parked close to the exit, thank goodness,
so I called my fiancé and sprint as fast as I can to my car.
I jump in, lock the doors, and start looking for this guy.
Then I see him.
He's aimlessly walking around the bus.
parking lot through the cars. He's pretty far away from me at this point, and I have my fiancé
on the phone, so I'm feeling somewhat safe again. I watched him walk around for another few seconds
before I got out of there. I have no idea what this guy was doing, or what his motive could
have been. Maybe he was just a weird dude who doesn't know how to talk to girls. Or maybe he was
a predator with dangerous intentions. Or maybe he thought I looked like.
easy prey for a robbery.
The thing I really can't wrap my head around
is the fact that each time I noticed him,
he was already staring at me.
He was not discreet at all,
and I would think a dangerous predator
might be a little more inconspicuous.
He also didn't buy anything from the grocery store,
which I also can't understand.
I was in the store about five minutes before I noticed him,
so I'm sure he didn't follow me into the store.
Am I being paranoid?
There's a lot that didn't feel right,
so I'm having a really hard time trying to rationalize this experience.
Definitely a creepy encounter.
I have a weird story about an ex-girlfriend that was absolutely crazy.
But I didn't really know that she was crazy until a while after we broke up.
when we were together, it was a great time.
Emily was pretty much just a pure ball of energy and spontaneity.
She was all about doing whatever we wanted, when we wanted to,
and she was typically up for anything.
I loved that about her,
and I would say that the three years that we were together
were some of the best times of my life.
I learned a lot about who I am.
I had a lot of great times,
and it was fun as hell.
But all good things have to come to an end.
While we were both really happy with each other
and I thought we were going to get married,
she ended up breaking up with me
because she didn't want to be held down.
She took my optimism of getting married to her
and having a family,
as me attempting to have her settle down and dull her shine.
I never meant for it to be like that.
and I wanted to be with her, but if she wasn't willing to plan for the future,
and she wasn't willing to calm down some, then it wasn't going to work.
After talking through this for several days and after spending a lot of time reflecting as a couple that loved each other,
we both decided that we needed to move on with our lives, without each other.
Of course, I was deeply cut by this whole situation.
situation. And she seemed like she was as well. But it was her idea and a mutual decision.
Neither of us was yielding on our position. I ended up moving out of our apartment and back in with
my parents for a while, until I could get back on my feet. And while she and I agreed that we
should still talk, it obviously wasn't going to work. The conversations would just end up with us
talking about the good times that we had, and they were kind of emotionally tormenting.
I think we both hated how it felt, and we pretty much went no contact with each other.
We stopped calling each other, and the texting was minimal, until after a few months we had
basically moved on completely. By the time that the story actually happened, we had been
split up for almost seven months, and I was at a point where I was ready to move on and start
looking to see if I could find someone else to spend my time with. After hanging out with a few
friends and spending some time with a couple of guys in my circle, I ended up meeting
Mariah. Mariah was one of the most attractive ladies I have ever met, and she and I hit it off
right away. We spent the entire night that we met getting to know each other, and we agreed to meet up
again in about a week, and to actually have a formal date. I was ecstatic, and a bit nervous for obvious
reasons. I will say that my excitement kind of made me a bit blind, specifically to the fact that
Emily texting me as soon as I got home that evening should have been something that was a bit strange.
The minute that I got home, I got a message from her that basically said,
How are you doing?
I really contemplated not responding to her because I was in a really good mood,
but then I thought that that would have been incredibly rude,
especially to someone that I used to love and was really close with for three years.
I responded that I was doing better, that things were kind of looking up, and just things that were generally positive.
I asked her how she was doing and she ignored the question by asking me why I was in such a good mood.
It was a bit odd of her to ask, but she asked, so I responded.
I told her that I felt like I was finally at a point where I could move forward with my life.
and she responded with
So you met someone new
I told her that I may have
but said that I didn't really want to talk about that with her right then
and again asked if she was okay
she just responded with
don't worry about me
I'll just leave you alone
I'm really glad that you're happy Jason
I wasn't in the mood to deal with this
so I just locked my phone
and kept on looking forward to the next week
The day of our date finally came along. Mariah and I had been talking pretty much daily,
and it was pretty clear that this was going to be the start of something serious.
We met at the place where we were going to have our dinner, and the entire night was perfect.
She was exactly what I was looking for.
We had the same interests, the same future plans, and based on our conversations,
we had pretty much agreed to skip the dating part of things
and just move straight into a relationship,
which sounds really dumb, but it honestly felt right.
After we finished eating,
we were about to head out,
and I ran to the restroom really quick before we left.
Then we stepped out of the restaurant,
and we were saying our goodbyes,
and right before we both left,
it occurred to me that I had left my watch on the sink
in the restroom.
I told her that she could go and that I would call her when I got home, so she didn't have to wait.
But she said that she was okay with waiting for me outside.
I ran back in and went straight for the restroom, and, thankfully, the watch was still sitting on the sink.
I grabbed it and made my way back out, and as soon as I stepped to the front door, what I saw horrified me.
Right outside of the restaurant, just off to the side of the front door,
Emily was on top of Mariah and was beating her senseless.
I immediately ran out the door and more or less tackled Emily off of Mariah,
and then went to get Mariah up from the ground.
She was a mess.
Her clothes were messed up, her face was bloodied,
and she was very clearly confused.
As soon as I started helping her,
her, Emily started screaming about how I was hers, and that I needed to come back to her.
At this point, I lost it. I started yelling about how we broke up seven months ago, about how we had
agreed to not be together, and she started talking about how she was wrong, and that she knew
that I loved her and that she wanted to be with me for the rest of her life. She then started screaming
about how she was pregnant, and that it was mine.
Which was pretty clearly a lie.
We'd been split up for, again, seven months.
If she was pregnant with my kid, she would have been showing.
Thankfully, around this time the cops finally showed up.
It was explained to them by the people that saw it happen,
that Emily had literally been waiting outside,
and as soon as I walked away, she jumped, Mariah.
She attacked her when she wasn't paying attention
and was just beating the hell out of her.
Then after a few moments, I came out and broke it up.
After a few people told the cops the same story
and the restaurant showed the officers the footage from the front security cameras,
Emily ended up in cuffs.
The whole time that they were dragging her away,
she was screaming about how much she needed me,
how much she loved me,
and how she knew we were meant to be.
together. And then pretty quickly changed to this was my fault and I needed to bail her out.
Basically, showing the whole world that she was crazy. I ended up going with Mariah to the hospital
because her head had hit the concrete pretty hard when Emily jumped her. It was one hell of a
conversation when I had to explain to her who Emily was. Made even more awkward when I mentioned that
us breaking up was actually her idea, because she didn't want to be held back.
Thankfully, Mariah thought the whole thing was hilarious, and despite the stitches that she
ended up with, it made the night even better. In Emily's twisted attempt to hurt Mariah
and get her to not want to be with me, she actually brought us closer. Mariah and I ended up
actually getting married, and we've been together ever since.
And all Emily ended up doing was catching a battery charge,
and giving the two of us,
one hell of a first date story.
So this just happened.
Well, it was yesterday evening.
I can't sleep, and I'm freaked out.
I, 28 female, live in an apartment with my boyfriend, 25 male.
The apartment is a half-basement.
That means that we're half underground, but still high enough to have big windows and some sunlight.
We are comfortable in this place.
We like it.
We feel at home, so sometimes when we get out of the shower or something, we're comfortable walking around naked.
This is our home, and we do as we please.
We have blinds, but sometimes, since our cat enjoys looking outside through the wind,
windows, we keep it a bit open.
It's a calm and serene neighborhood.
Not many people passing by into big empty space with transmission towers on the other side of the street,
so no one is facing us.
We felt safe here.
Until yesterday.
As always, after a late meal, we jumped in the shower, talking, laughing.
It was late.
We were trying to prepare quickly since we have to wake up early in the morning.
Once out of the shower, I realized that we forgot to pack our lunch.
Not caring, I went into the kitchen and started packing, naked, my back to the window.
I'm not sure if I heard something or if I simply turned around, but as I checked briefly at the window, I saw it.
Right outside, almost touching the glass was a man, but naked, fondling himself in my window as he was looking at.
me. I only saw his legs and junk. I jumped, quickly moved out of sight, screaming at my partner
that someone was touching themselves in the kitchen window. My boyfriend saw red. He quickly
got dressed and ran out looking for the pervert as I call 911. We didn't catch him. He ran away,
but we saw no one outside. We heard no doors in our apartment building, but my boyfriend heard
voices in the building next to us.
The police say that we must have scared him, but the only one scared now is us, or shall I say,
mostly me.
We are busy people, but most of the time I'm alone in the apartment.
I take the bus alone.
I take the trash out alone.
My boyfriend is at work a lot, and that's okay he needs to be.
But now I'm just scared.
This pervert knew when in one.
where to look, and we already caught him doing it.
It was just a few days back.
I just saw legs outside my window and I jumped, but I didn't see what he was doing.
So he's been looking for quite a few nights inside my home to see me naked.
What if instead of frightening the pervert, we pissed him off?
What if he comes back when I'm alone, or when I'm walking outside?
I can defend myself, but this stuff is scary.
I have been S-Aid in the past,
and this is not helping with the healing process or the paranoia.
Our landlord knows, and he lent us a surveillance camera,
but I just hope that it's enough.
Hello, Raven.
This is now the second story that I've submitted.
I really love your videos, and I listen to them while I sew on hot summer nights.
that make you turn and roll in bed.
This happened back when I was 15.
As it is beginning to be a couple of years now,
I checked with my friends to fill in the details that I forgot.
At the time, I wanted to go explore abandoned places,
and some of my friends were willing to go with me,
some even excited.
I found a post on a forum mentioning an abandoned house in my city,
with indications on how to get there.
Bingo.
I went there with L, also 15,
and E and A, both 16.
A was the only boy that was with us.
We followed the post's indications.
The first step was to go to the cemetery.
It was an early September in the afternoon,
so it was warm,
and all we could hear was the cicadas singing.
I live in a small,
by American standards at least, city in southern France,
one that regularly has floods,
some having killed over a dozen of people.
The authorities take this risk very seriously,
so they built tunnels under the city in order to make the floodwaters go there
instead of into the streets,
which can't prevent the next flood,
but at least lower its intensity.
The tunnel starts right next to,
to the cemetery, its beginnings are littered with empty snack packaging, which meant that part
of the tunnel, first few meters, that are lit up by the outside lights, are visited by fellow
teens. However, the tunnel becomes dark really quickly, and by dark, I mean so inky that your
phone flashlight doesn't light up anything but the person in front of you. I looked it up on
the city hall's website, and this part of it.
the tunnel is 5 by 3 meters, or about 16 by 10 feet large, as it is a half circle in shape.
I remember the echo being crazy, and we were playing around with it at first, and I took some videos.
They must be on a memory card buried somewhere in my parents' house.
I remember the ambience of that tunnel, despite it not being remarkably cramped, as
quite claustrophobic,
since we didn't hear the cicadas,
only the muffled sounds of cars above us from time to time.
In the pitch-black part of the tunnel,
I remember that we saw needles,
little plastic bags, etc.
When we shined our phone lights on the ground,
we were afraid to meet someone in the tunnel on our way,
and so we kept watching out,
and making sure we didn't hear any strange sounds.
The second step to finding the abandoned house was to go through a small hole atop the tunnel,
on the side.
There were a few along the way, and none seemed to lead to a house, so we continued to walk.
We went so far that we eventually arrived at the end of this portion of the tunnel,
which is, apparently, according to the city hall, roughly 1.5 kilometers long,
or about a mile,
but we seemed to have spent so much more time in it.
This isn't a large distance,
and yet I remember us walking for at least 45 minutes.
We walked back and I realized where the hole was
and pointed it out to my friends.
A. kneeled down and helped me get up to the hole first,
as I was the lightest.
The hole must have been about 1.6.
meters, or five foot two inches away from the ground, comparative to my height.
Everyone then threw me their bags, and A helped the others similarly as I pulled them up
by grabbing their arms, until we finally got A to us.
That's when we realized that something was wrong. It was infested with mosquitoes,
and I got at least a dozen of bites from this incident.
The end of the tiny plot of land had a half-destroyed stone wall, which A promptly tried to climb.
I shouted that if he were to break his leg, that we would just leave without him, which made him get down.
The plot of land was really tiny, and there was no house.
It was surrounded by wire fence on all sides, but the wall, and facing said wall, was the very top of the tunnel, exposed.
and to our horror, on the left, a small house that seemed inhabited.
We were making a lot of sounds, as a bunch of teens would,
and after a couple of minutes of trying to see behind the stone wall,
still hoping for an abandoned house,
an old woman opened up one of the inhabited house windows,
yelling something along the lines of,
Get off of my property! I'm calling the cops!
If you've never been in a similar situation as a dumb teen,
I don't think you can quite grasp the short-circuiting happening in your brain when you hear those words.
Common sense would have wanted us to apologize and say that we were leaving then immediately do so.
Instead, we were so scared by the thought of having the cops called on us,
that we bolted out of the plot of land and jumped straight into the tunnel.
and yes, I did hurt my ankle whilst doing so.
The tunnel cut through numerous roads,
and the only muffled sounds that our ears could detect,
were cars passing above us,
and a couple of times the sound of police sirens.
This happened three or four times,
and it was certainly unrelated to our failed attempt at urban exploration,
but every time we would turn our flashlights to each other,
looking scared out of our mind.
I was wondering what I would say to my parents if we ever got arrested,
coming from a tunnel littered with needles after trespassing on someone's house,
especially since we all told our parents we went to the city center,
and instead we took a bus to the cemetery.
Anyway, we got out of the tunnel walking as fast as we could without making too much sound,
and went into the cemetery,
which had trees everywhere,
wanting to hide.
Probably all the while looking like we saw a real ghost.
No cops were called, and I know why the house wasn't abandoned.
The forum post was five years old at that point.
Anyway, this makes for a great story to tell these days, since I believe it to be highly comical.
I've only kept in touch with Elle, and we sometimes bring up the time that we tried to go ghost
hunting, and we have a good laugh about it.
I hope the story makes it into one of your videos, despite nothing having really happened,
except getting thrown out at a random lady's house.
And a tip for urban explorer wannabes, check thoroughly that the place you're going to be
exploring is really abandoned beforehand.
I was 16 years old.
My brother had just turned 20 and had just set up a place to live.
live in Wisconsin.
We lived in Toledo, Ohio.
Mom drove my brother to
the Greyhound bus station and I came along
too. I wanted to get
one last goodbye before he went.
We went at night
because that was the cheapest bus
ticket time we could get.
Our family was poor.
The building had to sit in lobby with
glass doors and glass windows everywhere,
but all you could see was
dark and the crappy streetlights.
Anyway, we waited with my brother for the bus to be prepped,
when this man walked up to the window and stared at me.
And this wasn't just a normal stare.
I could see it in his eyes.
It was an angry, crazed stare.
That said, if I left this building on my own, I'd be dead.
I sat really close to my brother, and he looked at me and then the guy,
and even he was creeped out.
This man's face and body was pressed into the glass.
His eyes never left me, mind you.
I'm almost 5'3, and a girl, and I didn't weigh much either.
My brother got up and went to the counter and asked for someone to escort me and our mom outside.
The employee informed my brother that an officer had already been called
and was on their way to escort the man off of the station.
I think he had been a problem earlier and had come back.
By the time my brother had got on the bus, the officer arrived, and that guy left.
But we were still escorted to our car.
I'm 29 now, and I still can't forget that gaze.
Living in Toledo, Ohio, I've seen some crazy stuff, but nothing has ever bothered me more than that man's gaze.
I have this uncanny ability to sense good and bad people.
My husband says it's so weird how I'm able to tell who's a bad person immediately after meeting them.
This man was behind glass, said nothing to me, and everything about him scared the crap out of me.
When I, female, 20, was younger, maybe around 13 to 14, I was walking to town with my mother.
I live in a small-ish town in England.
It was a quick walk, 15 minutes, but about five minutes after leaving the house,
I had one of the most unsettling encounters ever.
Whilst walking, there was a man approaching us.
Nothing weird at this point.
I thought he would walk past us like everyone else.
However, this random man leaned in towards me as he walked past,
and he whispered something to me.
I remember it being creepy,
and along the lines of him knowing where I lived.
It was subtle and it happened quickly.
I was shocked,
especially since my mother was right next to me,
bold move from a creepy guy.
I recall the man being possibly in his late twenties,
kind of scruffy-looking,
a little chubby with longish-brown hair and a beard.
but I knew that I had never seen him before this point.
I waited a few seconds for us to distance ourselves from the stranger,
and then turned to my mom completely freaked out,
and quietly asked if she heard what the guy had said.
She said that she didn't.
I thought maybe I had misinterpreted the situation, or misheard him then.
We kind of brushed it off and continued with our day.
I felt uneasy, but tried not to think about it.
The rest of the day was fairly normal.
Until the morning after, when my dad was talking to our neighbor.
Neighbor told my dad that during the early hours of the morning,
there was a man lurking right outside of our houses for some time.
He was hovering around my dad's and my neighbor's car.
Now, this is really weird because we live in a kind of closed-off area.
The only people that we see outside of our homes are neighbors.
but even they wouldn't come right up to our doors,
especially not at like two to three in the morning.
Even delivery drivers can't find our house most of the time
because we're so hidden away.
This has never happened before and never happened again after this,
at least to our knowledge.
Of course, you can imagine how absolutely terrified I was to hear this.
I explained to my dad what had happened the day before,
and reminded my mom, kind of an I told you so moment.
I felt so scared to be in my own home.
I remember calling my friend and talking about the situation.
We researched about what we could do,
but there wasn't really any action that we could take.
We just had to be observant and cautious, I guess.
I can't remember much about what happened after that,
but I never saw the man again.
The whole situation creeps me out, and it doesn't make sense.
The man outside my house wasn't confirmed to be the same man that walked past me earlier,
as it was too dark to make out any discernible figures.
But it sure is an amazing coincidence, if so.
I never knew where to talk about this experience, but I figured it belongs here.
I would love to hear any opinions and theories.
I have a bit of a creepy and short story about my ex-boyfriend.
It's one of those stories that was weird to me, and it is creepy,
but I genuinely never expected Adam to do what he did,
because he didn't seem like he was the type.
The year that we were together in high school,
he was kind-hearted and a sweet guy,
so to have him end up so vindictive and ingressively,
petty. It was so far out of left field. I guess I should further explain our relationship and Adam as a
person to really make it clear just how weird this was. Adam and I were, as I said,
high school sweethearts. We got together junior year and were together all through senior year,
and he was a smart kid. He got good grades and he and I got along well enough to make it a good
relationship. We were one of the couples in high school that everybody knew. Like, if you said
Megan and Adam, they knew who we were, and that we were together. Unfortunately, we ended up
growing apart pretty quickly after graduation. I had ideas for what I wanted to do. He had ideas
for what he wanted to do, and they just didn't mesh together. So, we ended up, we ended up
up deciding that we needed to go ahead and see other people.
I won't get into the specifics of all that. It was sad, but for the best.
Skip ahead to around a year or so later, and I've moved on and not really thought about
Adam for a little while. Not to be rude, but I had just moved on with my life and everything
was going pretty well for me. I wasn't dating anyone at the time, but I didn't, I did. I did,
I did have a few guys that I spoke with often and was pretty close to.
They knew that I wasn't seeing anyone,
and they all also knew that I wasn't really looking to get with anyone.
So, imagine my surprise when I get a text from one of them asking me when I got back with Adam.
I called him and asked what the hell he was talking about.
He then told me that I had changed my relationship status on Facebook to being
in a relationship with Adam,
and that I had been posting pictures of him on my wall all day,
talking about how much I loved and appreciated him,
and how happy I was that we were back together.
Big problem with that is that I didn't have a Facebook account.
I'd had one at one time, back when I was a freshman,
but I had deleted it a long time prior to this conversation.
So, I asked him for a link.
When I tried to visit the account, pretty much everything on it was, of course, privated,
but the account had my name and an older photograph of me.
I then asked my friend to send me screenshots of the page so that I could see what they were saying.
Sure enough, this page was posting a ton of things about how they loved Adam more than anything,
and they were posting a ton of old pictures of us,
talking about how happy we were together
and several other things that were really weird.
He then said that he had also gotten a message from the account,
and the person pretending to be me told him that,
since I was back with Adam, we couldn't be friends anymore.
He messaged them to call him,
and the person just responded with,
Sorry, I can't.
What really sucked was,
that this person had added quite a few people as friends, and apparently it had existed for a
couple of months to make it look more legitimate. My friends had all accepted the friend request
thinking it was me, but Facebook wasn't really a point of conversation, so none of them had told
me about it. They just thought it was a normal thing that had occurred. They thought I had
started an account to keep in touch, and added my friends.
I ended up texting everyone that I could to tell them that the person on Facebook was not me,
that it was someone that was pretending to be me.
I say someone, but I knew who it was.
I did actually end up making an account on Facebook and adding everyone,
and then making a post about how I was not with Adam,
and that the person that was saying they were me was not me.
In the post, I also requested that everybody blocked them.
Interestingly enough, that fake account actually blocked me,
and then started posting about how my real account was fake,
and that they needed to block me.
It was almost funny.
As messed up as it was, it was a situation that I really couldn't do much about,
and I just had to pretty much ignore it.
My friend kept the person on their friend's list,
and even though everyone that they had been adding had blocked them,
they kept on pretending for the better part of a year.
They would constantly post about things that they did,
things that didn't happen, dates that never occurred.
They posted every month about their month anniversary.
They posted about how they were engaged
and even had a fake date for their wedding.
Adam literally kept this facade up for around ten months before finally abandoning it,
and he did so for an audience of nobody except himself and the one friend that kept me looped in.
If it wasn't so creepy and sad, it would have almost been hilarious that he was so obsessed with pretending to be with me.
In the end, I never contacted him about it.
Because I knew he would deny it, and I really didn't care.
I made sure that everyone knew it was fake and that no one fell for it after the beginning.
I know some people may say that this wasn't that creepy, but to me, it really was.
Adam was clearly not okay, and I never would have expected him to do this,
considering how our relationship went when we were together,
and that our breakup was a completely mutual thing.
My name is James.
I live in a small town in western Pennsylvania,
and this happened to me while I was a young child,
around 12 or so.
I've always watched true crime shows like America's Most Wanted and the like,
and I always listened intently to all the PSAs that we got at school warning us of strangers.
So, needless to...
say, I used to get plenty
paranoid walking anywhere in my
small town. One day,
my best friend at the time
convinced me to walk to the park with him.
We were at my dad's place,
which was just up the road and across
the bridge. I decided
to go, and we headed for
the park. But
when we reached the bridge,
that's when we noticed something.
That a white van with
dark windows was totally driving
slow enough to keep pace with our
walking. I immediately got a dreary feeling from this, and I could tell that my friend did as well.
We looked at each other and began to walk fast, across the bridge and towards the rec center outside
the park. But to our horror, the doors were locked, and they were closed. And what's worse,
the van pulled into the rec center parking lot. We knew for sure that this was a legit,
dangerous situation, and we were definitely being pursued by whoever this was.
It was terrifying to both of us.
I remember we bolted towards the park thinking, hey, they won't do anything here in front of all of these people.
But once again, to our horror, the park was empty.
I couldn't believe it.
And the white van was once again on our trail.
This time parked across from the swing set that we were,
were stood by.
I could actually now make out the figures inside.
Two older-looking dudes.
One heavy set and one skinny.
They were just staring.
If only cell phones were big back then.
Just when it seemed like things were looking grim,
and my friend and I panicked about how to escape the situation,
as we waited for whoever it was to make their move,
a car that my friend instantly recognized showed up on the scene.
"'That's my aunt!' he excitedly exclaimed.
"'We were saved.
"'She took both of us home, and neither one of us said a word.
"'It was soon after this that I would hear of similar incidents like this,
"'as well as young girls saying that this van had cat-culled to them and whistled to them.
"'I guess they just liked all kids.
"'What a couple of freaks!
"'I'm sure it was probably some goons.
"'I will never know what would have had.
happened that day had my friend's aunt not showed up.
