Starting point is 00:00:01 So, welcome to our Russian table. Today I will show you some of the most popular and favorite dishes among Russians and Russian Federation and some of the European countries around it as well. I will be sipping on some quas, a cup of quas, also known to Europe or states or the rest of the world as root beer. It consists of ripe bread, and it does contain a little bit of alcohol in it, which is 1.2% so let's help I won't get too late. So I will show you and obviously taste some of the hot soups, particularly in this case Bush.
Starting point is 00:00:54 Also plof or a pilaf known to the rest of the world. Also I'll taste some of the most favorite salads such as undressed hearing and Olivier salad. I also have some sourcrowd in here or sour cabbage and we'll taste and take a look at some of the sweets, some of the most favorite sweets, which is two gingerbread and zifir. So stay tuned and let's start. The first dish that we're going to try is called bourch.
Starting point is 00:01:35 This is a soup of Ukrainian origins and it's very popular in Russia as well as Eastern and Central Europe. It's made with usually served the traditional recipe includes carrots, some tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage, some bouillon, does have an incredible rich reddish and purplish color that gives it the different look to it. The smell is also very very rich. Many people sometimes add garlic into this dish as well. It should kick to it and makes it. So here we have a dish that is very popular all over the world.
Starting point is 00:03:29 It has been found in the 10th century in Central Asia. However, the ingredients truly depend on the location in the local cuisine, local preferences. local preferences. I did make this dish myself, well I did make all of the dishes here. However, this one, a piece of carrot. I did add some garlic to it as well, so it really has a lot of aroma. And of course I've added all the proper spices. I really, really like the spices for plove. It always makes it taste.
Starting point is 00:04:36 And of course, how many nations have adopted. adopted this dish and now they make it their own. Very popular to be made with fish, with pork, chicken, beef, veal, basically anything you can imagine. And different nations, obviously, add different flavorings to them. This dish is called sauerkraut, cabbage, or quashinaa causta, that is in Russian. In Russia, we do add chipper berry as well as the cabbage. This dish is basically started off from also sour cabbage. It has been created in kimchi as kimchi in China.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Usually this is created by the process of the cabbage. It's very high in vitamin C and decay. Very good for calcium and magnesium in it. almost like a super antioxidant food for your body. Okay? So that's the sour ground. Sour cabbage or called quashana cabusta. How about we try one of my personal favorites?
Starting point is 00:07:16 This one is called Olivier and I'm so excited to eat it. Oliveya consists in this case carrots, potatoes, I believe, and a old fill up with meo. It's definitely dishes ever. It's not very healthy. It is the most favorite dish to have on a table during holidays such as Christmas or New Year's. A lot of people truly enjoy this. Olivier traditionally is not actually a Russian dish because original version, the original version of this recipe was invented by Belgian chef, whose name is Lucien Olivier and he has been created in 1860. In early 20th century, it has been stolen by Ivan Ivanov, a Russian chef, who added different ingredients and made it into this beautiful
Starting point is 00:09:15 dish. That's again one of the most popular and most traditional dishes on the Russian table and I believe you called it actually Stolichny. Long people, you have to be honest, it is called dressed hearing or silt-pachubuil, or the actual translation of it is hearing under a fur coat. And I assume it's because of the fluffy tapping that you get. It consists of a layer of salted by some onions, carrots, potatoes, beads. And so it is a little bit weird and quite different. It is definitely one of the most favorite dishes.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Favorite salads. Turn off a lot of people, but it's... And I'll show you some of the sweets. So now, different sweets in Russian and Russian Federation. I'll show you some of them. Of course we have wonderful cakes, varieties of sweets. I'll just show you two most favorite. It has a lot of sugar and egg whites in it.
Starting point is 00:12:20 I actually hear a little bit of a crunch. Quite soft. I still has quite a crunch. It is very, very sweet. Mm-hmm. Very sugary. very marshmallow but more sugar are just one of my favorites and this one's just fine gingerbread it's actually made back in russia i'm actually not too far from today so we drive by
Starting point is 00:13:55 the first dula gingerbread was created in 16985 and usually it's filled with a gem it's going to crack right in the middle of it it actually says tuliski you can see glazing or it's I didn't have these for a while, quite missed them a lot. Nice gem goes right in the middle, yet the dough is still quite moist pattern on the bottom. And glazing on the top, I think it's decorated perfectly and beautifully.
