Hello everyone! So I get a common question from viewers quite often and this is, should I create my own ASMR channel? It can be quite intimidating to put your creativity out for the world to see but it can also be very beneficial in many ways not only to yourself but to those who view your content. I am hoping through this series to offer my experiences and advice for anyone who is contemplating creating ASMR. Please don't take this as the only way, of course everyone's path is different, but maybe I can answer some simple questions or help motivate you! Hello, my name is Maria and I've been making ASMR videos for over seven years now. I decided to create these four-part series where I will share with you my personal tips and tricks on how to create videos in the best possible way. I really wish there was someone that would have made this type of videos when I was starting out. myself in the ASMR community, it would have been so helpful. So some of them are very immature tips. Some of them are a little bit more professional that I've researched. My main reason for making this video is to help someone.

That's really it. Leave something behind. It's going to be in this chat format, where I'm going to speak from my heart and share with you things that. I think are important to know when you're either starting your a suburb channel or we're just looking for inspirations, maybe. So in the four parts we're going to talk about in this video specifically, more about the beginning stages of preparation of setting up. And then we're going to talk about equipment in the next video, then about setup and recording, and about editing.

Okay, so I hope it will be informational for you. And so a little bit about myself, I experienced SMR all my life and have it the strongest in life situations, which is a good tip for you to remember, because we will come back to that. I found ASMR community when it was a whisper community back in 2009 and has changed my life right away somehow. so the vision of where it could potentially go, how beneficial it could be, and I decided that I'm just going to dedicate as much time as I can, this movement. And it has led me here, now, this is my profession, so to say, and while I don't think there's such a thing as experts in ASMR, I think in some way I would love to consider myself one, just because of certain things. things that have learned, but opinions are different so you could think otherwise.

So first thing to think about is your interest in this community and your expectations from the community. So when you're starting off, just try to sit down and analyze what do you like about ASMR. What's the categories interest you the most? Is it mug bang? Is it mouth sounds? Is it role plays? Is it sounds videos? Is it personal attention? Do you like more horror twist or more comedy or vice versa? Just pinpoint what you have the most pool is going to be the best place for you to start from. Now another point is to try and actually explore. All of those things by yourself. Create videos for each one and see whether or not you could it.

Honestly, when I was starting off, I could never have thoughts could be relaxing if I just tone it down. I never knew that Russian accent would be exciting for people to listen to Eswan. Never knew that the pattern of my voice or speech was interesting in any possible way. And only after I've tried it is when I've found. found out that I was good at some people who were enjoying that trait of mine. So it's just trying it all out, reading feedback and seeing where it goes. Where's your strength and where's your weakness? Once you pinpoint your style, I think of the passion behind it.

Why do you like it? Do you like to chat with the camera? Some people enjoy that too. It could be quite different. different experience to speak to yourself in a way, imagining another person sitting in front of you, and just pouring yourself into it. One of the most weirdest things beneficial for both of you, behind the camera and in front of it. And stick to that path. Why is it good, if you get any in the beginning, of course, which you could take some time, and that's fine. We'll get to that.

to people. In the beginning, constructive criticism. These people are going to lead you. They're going to guide you. They're going to pinpoint exactly what you need to work on more, what they like about you more. Remember the reasons why you start. So the reasons why you could start is potentially to give back to the community. If you have experienced firsthand, just like I did, the benefits of ASMR, you could feel a strong, pool towards giving back, seeing if potentially you could benefit somebody else's life through this simple act of just creating an ASMR video that could potentially make somebody's day, somebody's night, getting a feedback. I was waiting for you to post all day and I'm so excited to see your video.

When you hear that, it makes you feel like you're I also understand that not a lot of people usually would write that. Only a person who honestly felt this way would write it down for you. And it's so good. So I tend to gather some comments that touch my heart deeply and I copy and paste them into my little special folder and then I read them when I need inspiration or to remind myself why I make these videos.

Setting your expectations is another very important thing to remember. Of course I cannot tell you what expectations to have or not to have, but I could suggest to you. A dollar or fame can be quite hard. And it's not to say that it's not going to work out, but majority of successful people out there, as I have noticed, are extremely passionate people in their own little niche. They're people who believe in their own movement, who believe in their own ideas, and then somehow, some way, fame and money comes their way. And most of the time, it still does not define them or their choices. It just becomes a part of it, which is fine. The most important thing is to stick to your plan, know why you're doing this.

positivity is contagious, doing good is contagious. People can feel a person who's passionate about what they do, and they will stick with you through the years. If you're trying to make it into a money hobby, there will be time when you will become disinterested in it. It won't make sense to you anymore, because the reason is not there. So you always have to decide for yourself why. Stick to it, maybe write it down.

That works too. I used to have a whole front page of the reasons why I'm doing this and why I'm not doing this and one of the reasons was things like I'm not trying to impress people I'm doing this for others, not for myself remember how many eyes are watching you

how many minds are listening to you and things like that and he really humbles you and makes your purpose more defined. Again, if you train to monetize, you're welcome to do that from the start or eventually, whichever way you like to.

I didn't monetize. I actually didn't know that I could monetize the first almost two years of my channel. And that was so much fun. It's still a lot of fun. But part of me that it was just there giving, giving, giving, giving, giving, until I was in the problematic area of my personal life

and was given a choice to monetize. So it was a blessing for me personally to support myself, stayed with me throughout these years. If you are a YouTuber or if you know anything about YouTube, nothing is certain. You have to make a decision if tomorrow they demonetize your channel and they can do there very quickly.

or if add revenues are going to go down three times, four times. It's not a stable income. You do not get the same amount every month. It's not an employment, it's not a job. But before you even think about that, set your own expectations and have something else on the side and use this as your passion. If it works out, you're going to be blessed.

You can be able to work full-time or part-time or closer to full-time and you will understand how exciting it is in this way too. So I'll start by feeling about that. So let's talk about identity. You need to make a decision whether or not you're going to hide your personal information or disclose it fully. Once you made the decision, you have to stick to the plan and not change your mind ever. That's just my example. If you hide your personal information, don't get paranoid and overly obsessed of hiding it.

Because the more you try to hide it, the more somebody would want to find out about it. So, don't panic. It's okay. It probably will happen without you knowing it. And as weird as it is, if you're not ready to deal with it, I would suggest to reconsidering potentially becoming a YouTuber, until you can find a way to hide your personal information, to the point of nobody finding it ever. Which is a little hard still. Because one of your friends is going to comment somewhere and people will just find you anyway. So, you need to pick creator's name that will be reflecting who you are a little bit. also become very easy to find, especially in ASMR community.

The number one trick is to add ASMR word into your title to be discoverable on the search page. See, I didn't do that in the beginning. I become Gendo whispering because ASMR was not a big thing yet. It was all about whispering. I started with the whispering community and then I have added ASMR to my name. So you can change your name, but I would suggest picking one and sticking to it. Once you have picked your name, creating a bunch of different emails with either that name or just change it up a little bit. So you don't forget them, maybe write them down.

Why would you do that? It's to prevent your accounts from being hacked or at least hacked altogether. So, your YouTube, your Facebook, your Instagram, Twitter, wherever you are. If they're under different emails, then it's so much easier to deal with, right? If you get hacked in one place, you can make announcements on all of your other black hackers. Could hack you everywhere if you use especially one email. So, uh, another thing, it could help you to protect yourself from monetization. fraud. So I would suggest creating a separate email for your, any Google AdSense that you will be

dealing with. You're not going to get monetized right away, obviously, or you may be already, but sitting up under a different email address that has nothing to do with your account is going to be a blessing, trust me. Because even if they hack your YouTube, they can't hack your Google add sense you have one accounts one email address attached to it you can add other accounts to deal with it but your main one is always that same one so I would suggest using completely different email for your monetization that is separate from your channel and you can do that I would suggest your research about that okay then next up let's talk about copying. Yes, a copying. It's always interesting how people are afraid of copying other people, or seeming like they use the same techniques as other people, are very proud that they have come up with something, and then they're just so disheartened that people don't give them credit.

In reality, it takes one person to take something, and if, even if they do give credit to the previous person, next person might not give you. credit to that first person and the link is gone. There's nothing else. It's lost. It's in public use. So be prepared that anything you come up with is going to be in public use and everybody's going to use it and be proud of it. A lot of times I see creators getting very hung up that who made what, who started first and makes you wonder when you go to college, when you go to school, when you go to school, all of this is public knowledge. Every teacher you know has been taught by another teacher. And now you're taught by that teacher. And isn't it literally just human psyche to share?

To create together, it's a community effort. It's not yours. Even if you created something, it's not really yours. It's public demand. That's it. So I would suggest don't get hung up on it. and copy your favorite creators. I would suggest picking a few creators of your choice that you enjoy or favorite.

Why do you like them? Is it the way they... their speech pattern? Are they doing ups and downs in their voice? Is it other speech of their movements? Do you like certain combinations that they use? appointed some of those tricks. Try to make... to try it out. It might seem like you will literally be copying another person.

But what you're doing is you're taking your own twist. Everything has been discovered, right? In the sense. And even if you think you're copying someone, that someone probably copied someone else already, so don't work for it. Maybe make your own twist on it, which you will have to be. happen naturally because you're not the same person. So just try those techniques. Although some people will say that they would prefer a more natural, authentic approach, and I agree with that. But I also think that analyzing your favorites is going to be a good skill to learn. All the best people are doing it, I think. I'm pretty sure.

You can start with copying someone, then it becomes your own. trait because you will polish it into your own personality into your own it will become you he has given you so let's talk about simplifying I know after all of that I personally am guilty of not simplifying enough sometimes more possess into my research creates more dynamic personas but at the end of the day I see the most popular content is when I'm being myself, even if I'm prepared, still some things just come off the top of my head and I just go for it during the video. Those do become the most fun parts to watch sometimes. So, everything brilliant is, is go to your personal statement, your personal view of why you're doing this. Come back to it and then tell yourself that every time before you make the video and it will remind you. why you're doing this and it will ease your mind to simplicity. So let's talk a little bit about preparation for the setup.

Once you have pinpoint the style of the video that you're going for, I would suggest to research it. And some might not agree with me, as they want it to be more authentic and natural just off the top of the head, which I agree with you, you can try, but I have learned that working hard on a project works out. and you cannot foresee the elements of the video that could be potentially interesting. If you didn't do your own research, you might miss out. So if you're working on a role play, for example, I always suggest scripting it a little bit.

So researching this profession, I usually go to actual professional videos. If it's like a dentist, I would type in actual dentist. exam, not a SMR. Then I could potentially watch some SMR videos, see what I like between them too, because you still want to make it playful and pretend it's not a real thing. So once you've done your research, remember how they were using some phrases, some technical terms when they were using it. See what tools they used, what light they used, and

And just overall their attitude, it could be potentially very helpful for you. If it's just a prop, if you need to play with the item but exploring it, two different other objects with it. Try exploring. Again, try shaking it. Just features and what you like the most about it. So you bring in the best. If I'll research in it this way, you have a heart creation, if you like sense. So always play with everything that you're going to be using before you start.

And for research of the items, you have to become shameless. If you like ASMR, you have to lose your shame. Leave it at home. You do it for the good of humanity. Everything becomes a potential object for an SMR video. Absolutely every. I'd say some of the best places are like small boutiques, artisan craft shows, and they create brand new regular stores.

They're so unique and everything becomes potential object for an ASMR video. Not just for sounds, but also for atmosphere. So every experience is potentially a new role play. If you go to the bank and see, it'll be relaxing. If you would put the annoying, what you can cut off from the roll plate. Like how they type, how I'm chewing, a little page flipping, how they touch paper sometimes. If it's a restaurant and the waitress is super soft-spoken, pinpoint that.

So every experience becomes potential experience for any SMR video, okay? And just go for it if you get inspired, if you see something a moment make a video about nothing more contagious than passion, than excitement, than seeing some to your location for recording. We'll talk more about that in the setup, but just to remind you, your location for recording, that would be perfect with last echo. Echo seems to kill everything like right now. So that you get the feeling of my so to say so be aware of vibrating noises from computer from refrigerator from AC unit from heater from a fan make sure that you turn them off If it's a refrigerator, like today I had to turn off refrigerator, you have to find a breaker and shut it off.
