Unfortunately, accidents and injuries happen, and the most recent available statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the CDC, are sobering. For example, unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death among children and teens in the United States.

Emergency rooms treat more than 4.1 million children and teens for accidental injuries in 2020. More than 7,000 children and teens died from unintentional injuries in 2019. team. Although perfect safety is an impossible goal, you can significantly reduce childhood injury risks by following basic child safety practices. First, make every effort to educate your child about potential child safety issues. Second, always provide adult supervision for your child's activities. More than 600 child passengers aged 12 and under died in motor vehicle crashes recently. More than 91,000 child passengers

were injured. 38% of children 12 and under who died in a collision were not using restraints. Compared with seatbelts alone, child safety seats reduced children's risk of crash by 71 to 82%. Drowning deaths for Native Americans and blacks are two times higher rate than drowning deaths for whites.
