Chamberlain University belong to something greater, certified to operate by Shev. Hello. Oh, hello, Nicole.
Starting point is 00:01:10 How are you? I'm good. We got dinner last night. Yes. And we were talking about leftovers. And I ate the rest of that cookie that I brought home this morning. Oh, you did? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:01:22 Nice. It was nice. I was like, I want just a little something before I leave the house. So I ate the cookie. And it was perfect. I want a little something. I just want a little something before. Wow, a sweet treat in the morning.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Yeah. Yeah. I don't really discriminate time-wise when it comes to. Sweet treats. Good to know. Good to know. You don't have a bias against the sweet treat time. No, no prejudice here.
Starting point is 00:01:50 I have a sweet treat in the morning, in the evening, even at summertime. When sweet treats are on the table. It's sweet treat all the time. All the time. I'm not a leftover girl. Yeah, you were saying that. I'll bring them home and then they disappear. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Like, I mean, not disappear. Like, they're in the refrigerator and I'll open the refrigerator and I'll be like, everything but that box. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I don't want to reheat it. Yeah. I already ate it. I guess I, when I reheat leftovers, I'm like, I am the smartest person in the world. I was able to make this meal
Starting point is 00:02:30 into two meals. Sometimes three meals. Three meals. Depends on what it is. You little squirrel. Just saving your nuts. I am saving my nuts. I accidentally And I'm really sorry about this So we had a pool day
Starting point is 00:02:52 And oh my God, I'm getting overwhelmed Oh bless you Some people cry when they're overwhelmed I sneeze You're allergic to the emotions I don't like the feeling But there was hamburgers and hot dogs that were ordered and hot dogs for the table were ordered,
Starting point is 00:03:14 which is really funny to me because it's not like a pancake for the table. It's a singular thing. It's a singular thing that you usually pick up. But I think like no one wanted their own hot dog, but they're like, well, hot dogs should be here. Yes. And I was grateful because I ate a little bit of hot dog.
Starting point is 00:03:31 I think you ate a little bit of hot dog. And then in my house, there was a little bit of hot dog and a little bit of, it looked like garbage. It was a little hot dog and a little French fry. Not even a full one that was mixed with the different. It was just like eight French fries, a quarter of a hot dog on the counter. And I was like, well, nobody's saving this. Somebody brought the trash inside and forgot to throw it away.
Starting point is 00:03:57 So I was cleaning up and I threw it away. And then as you were leaving, you were like, you threw out my hot dog. And I said, how did you know, it was me? But I was like, how did you know it was me? And you looked at me and you said, I know it was you. And I was like, oh my God. And I think you were like, can't leave anything out near you. You'll just throw it away.
Starting point is 00:04:17 And I was like, yeah, that is kind of right. I mean, yeah, it's true, which I knew. I should have known. But I guess I thought that ruling applied to the living room. But I guess the kitchen counts too. But yeah, if I or anybody, a guest in your home, leaves anything out for too long, you'll just start getting busy and start picking. taking things up and throwing them away, which is not a bad habit. Like you want things to be tidy.
Starting point is 00:04:45 But I was like, man, I couldn't even have that out for a little. I mean, it wasn't that a little bit. It was at the whole night until we were leaving. Why didn't you put it in the refrigerator? I had a conversation with the nice man in your life about where it should be. And I was like, should I put it in the fridge? And he's like, if you put it on the counter, I'm sure it'll be fine. And I was like, that logic tracks, but I should have known. Famous last words. Famous last words. My friend does not like things on the counter. So I should not have put it there.
Starting point is 00:05:14 The reason why I do that is because at the end of the night, there isn't like a big cleanup. It's just a couple of things you got to put away. But I was like, why is the trash here? To me, it was treasure. I'm so sorry. It's okay. Also, there was old bagels from two days ago that weren't, there was like two bagels left in this box of bagels. And I asked the nice man to throw it away.
Starting point is 00:05:36 and I watched him take it outside and somehow they were back on the counter at the end of the night and I was like how did that happen? It was like a boomerang He did take them outside I watched him with my own eyes Take them outside
Starting point is 00:05:49 And then he went, I feel like, to the trash Yeah And then somehow at the end of the night I said the, or no, the next morning I was like how did the bagels are back? Like the box and all Are just box and all That's so interesting
Starting point is 00:06:02 Like a raccoon brought them back and said y'all aren't done this isn't trash enough for me maybe in the middle of the night he like scurried into the trash and dug them out or maybe my neighbor was like they didn't mean to throw these out and broke into your house and put them back I wouldn't put it past her yeah
Starting point is 00:06:20 it's wild like if she was in my house I'd be like okay well this is a new level I don't think I'd be that angry yeah I'd be like all right wow she's more kooky than harm harmful she's very very kooky yeah I really like this outfit thank you I like that you're wearing stripes in a different way.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Stripes on my legs. This is from Goodwill. It's a good purchase from Goodwill. Thank you. It was $5. Nice. I picked it up and I was like, ooh, this looks a little tiny. But then I stretched it out and I was like, I think I'll get this over my body. It is a small.
Starting point is 00:06:55 I am not. A small. But fits perfectly. Yeah. Look at hard. I do have to like pull it down so it doesn't cut off circulation to my arms. and really like make it look wild. But that's why I love stretch.
Starting point is 00:07:10 Yeah. Stretch makes a lot of things achievable that shouldn't be achievable. I'm not a small. I shouldn't be wearing a small. And here we are. Here we are. And the neck is a little tight. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:07:25 But it's not tight enough that like I'm in pain or anything. Okay, good. It just, it's like, no pressure. Mm-hmm. Okay. You can just like stretch it out a little bit. in the bathroom. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Yeah, you got room in there. Yeah. Ooh. Oh, stretch it out. I've been re-watching the X-Men. Oh, fun. I've been having a great time. That first one is so dang good.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Yeah. The second one, I guess I haven't watched in a while, but I was like, I don't remember any of this. I mean, it's been a really long time since I've seen the actual movies. And then in the third one, spoiler, Gene Gregg kills Professor Xavier. Yeah. It's really sad. So sad.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Yeah. And then Mystique gets hit with the cure or whatever, the thing that takes away your mutant gene. Oh, yes, yeah. And then Magneto just leaves her. I know. He goes, you're not one of us. So sad. As she lied there naked.
Starting point is 00:08:22 So sad. I bet she never thought of that. That she should at least have a bag of clothes nearby. In case she gets hit with a cure. But I'm like, they're in the middle of it. of nowhere. He flipped over these trucks. She has no transportation and she's fully naked. Yeah, she's like always naked, right? She's never, has clothes over the blue. No, but she can, when she morphs into a different person, she takes those clothes. Yeah. But he just left her human
Starting point is 00:08:51 and naked. So rude. He could have like given her a cape or something. Yes, he's wearing a cape. He could have draped her in the cape. Put her in the cloth. He said, I don't care about you anymore. You're human. Wild. Yeah, too, too, nasty, dirty. Mm-mm. That's not nice. No, it really is. And I'm really hoping. Every time I saw Storm on camera, I was like, I wish she had like a big Farrah Fawcett blowout with like a big barrel curl. And I wish she wore the headband. The headband.
Starting point is 00:09:29 And I'm really hoping. I don't know who I need to talk to. To be like, can we give us that fantasy? Yeah. We gave us the Wolverine yellow outfit fantasy and the Deadpool loves Wolverine movie. Yeah. Why can't we give us a storm fantasy?
Starting point is 00:09:45 I wonder. I hope like since they are starting, well, I think they're starting the new version of X-Men a little younger. I hope we get to see this character and actress evolve with the hairs. So like long hair, the mohawk, the shorter cut, like all evolutions of it because they're all. so good. I also want to see her in that white suit.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Yeah. And this is not a criticism of Hollyberry because I love Hollyberry. She's like whispering in the whole movie. Yeah. And I'm like, why? Honestly, as an actor, yes. As an actor. So you went, as an actor. me as an actor
Starting point is 00:10:37 and one who is not well-versed in accents I think I would be in my head the whole time about how I sound so I do wonder if maybe she was like like if I speak quietly no one will notice the accent no one will clock that there's an accent
Starting point is 00:10:56 kind of in the first one and then it goes away goes away yeah I wonder I wonder how much time they gave her to prep for because the heat of rivalry man speaks full Russian and has a Russian accent
Starting point is 00:11:11 because he like learned it and was taking classes on set. Insane. And it's like X-Men had a budget. Did you get a dietitian? Nope. Dialect. Yes, dialect code.
Starting point is 00:11:22 Dietitian. That's crazy that I went there. It's supposed to be D. Wow. And then unhealthy images burned in my brain from the patriarchy. And I'm saying dietician when I mean dialect coach.
Starting point is 00:11:34 But they could have gotten her a diet like coach and like solve that. That is true. But they probably weren't focused on her or her character at that time. Shut up in. Storm is important to the X-Men. Oh, yeah. She leads the X-Men at one point. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:11:51 I feel like this is the third episode we've talked about the X-Men. Probably, but we like it. We love it. And I'm so excited for the movies. Me too. I, have you seen Apocalypse? I don't think I did. John Milheiser was like, Nicole, you're not going to like it.
Starting point is 00:12:07 It's just a fashion show. And I was like, what? And then I watched it. Apocalypse like gathers the mutants. And he's like, you wear this. You wear that. And you wear this. It is like a fun fashion show.
Starting point is 00:12:19 It's kind of wild. I mean, they have great looks. They really do. And then I was thinking about, I think his name's Archangel with them big wings. Yeah. He flies away. His dad trying to give him the cure. And then he flies away without a shirt on.
Starting point is 00:12:33 And I'm like, did he ever get a shirt? Does he have to get them custom? He must. Or do you think he's altering them to get his wings over? And then I was like, how do you get your wings in a shirt? Maybe it's one of, like, maybe it's a shirt that can be like, it's in the front. And then it has to have like nothing attached on the side. So like a flap, like a poncho kind of.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Oh, okay, yeah. And so it goes over his backs, but doesn't touch the wings. And then you'll have to tie it on the sides. Oh, okay. kind of like a dicky, a dicky poncho. Yes. Mm-hmm. Well, we solved that one for him.
Starting point is 00:13:09 Hope he figured that out. And then I learned that there's different levels of mutants. What do you mean? In the movies, I call them level one, level two, level three, level four, level five. I think they're like, I know Omega is the highest one, but I can't remember the other levels. But Omega's like, there are no limits. And then the one other is like, there are a couple limits. And then the one other is there are a couple limits and also they can't control their power.
Starting point is 00:13:36 And then the one under that is like, they're crazy looking in person and they can't pass as human. And that's like a lower level mutant. And I was like, that's wild. And then the lowest level is like kind of just a shitty power that kills you. And it like slowly kills you. That sucks. Yeah. Who's Omega level?
Starting point is 00:13:59 Magneto, Apocalypse, Professor Xavier, Gene. Gray. Jean Grey's daughter is argued to maybe be Omega, but not I don't think she's officially classified. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:18 My goodness. I want to be Omega. Oh, Storm's also Omega. That makes sense. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. It's funny in the movies. She's like sad and she like makes it all gloomy.
Starting point is 00:14:27 And I was like, that's funny. And she's like, I'm sad. Everyone else? You're going to be sad too. They're like, oh, no, storm's not in the good mood right now. Because that's exactly what I would do. Yeah. Just be like, we're all going to feel it.
Starting point is 00:14:43 I think I've asked, but what mutant would you be? And if I have asked this before, and if you're a historian of the podcast and you've listened, go back and find the episode where we talk about it and see if it matches. I don't know if you've asked that. Like a mutant that already exists in the... Comics or my am I creating my own? No.
Starting point is 00:15:06 Okay. Let's do somebody that exists. Someone that exists. Okay. Do you have one? No. Mm-mm-mm. I mean, I do love Storm, of course.
Starting point is 00:15:18 I want to figure out a different one. I also love Storm, and that's what I was thinking. I was like, what if I just pick a different one? Yeah. Hmm. Gambit. Okay. I think it would be really fun to throw cards.
Starting point is 00:15:35 at people. Yeah. And it's like, what does she throwing? Oh, no. It's going to hurt me. Ouch. Ouch. I mean, I don't know how functional her powers are, but I do like Jubilee. The fireworks. Yeah. I think she can control electricity. Really? I think that's what she's doing. She's like taking electricity. Oh, I thought she was just creating sparks. I'm 99% sure she's absorbing electricity and then like shooting it out. Allie Do you my looking Dirk Actually, I think I want to be Gene Gray
Starting point is 00:16:13 I think I can handle having evil in me I'd be scared It feels like every time Gene Gray's portrayed It's like she can't handle her own power And then she can But she's using it for bad I think I could harness it and be like
Starting point is 00:16:33 A good little girl I promise I won't use it a little girl I've been through it a lot of therapy. I think I could do it. Jubilee has the power, mutant power to generate and detonate multi-colored pyrotechnic energy plasmoids from her hands that look and
Starting point is 00:16:49 act like explosive Marvel fireworks. Oh. So yeah, she's not absorbing electricity at all. She is electricity. She is electricity. Wow. That's cool. Yeah. That is cool. You are electricity. And then, like, I would get so much work during the Fourth of July.
Starting point is 00:17:06 You don't want your bite. any fireworks. I'm dying that you're like, I'm going to monetize my mutation. Oh yeah, I am. Everyone should. Calls the share over. We got to get fireworks. I mean, not just for the July, birthday parties.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Weddings. Gender reveals. Yeah, so I have pink ones. Yeah, pink ones, blue ones. Graduations. I'd be busy. You really would, booked and blessed. Everyone would stay away from me because they're like, oh, she's okay right now.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Maybe Jean Grey is too hard. And definitely not rogue. Even though Rogue is like cool. Okay, how do you think Rogue fucks? Over the pants? Do you think? Do you think she has to wear like a female condom and then they have to wear a condom, but then they also have to wear pants and she has to wear pants and she has to wear
Starting point is 00:18:10 pants. Well, what's the point of the condom? Because if she touches your skin, she's going to suck your life out. But she's already wearing pants. What is the cond? What do you need the condom for? Well, how are you going to fuck with pants on? You need to get in there. Oh, I see. I thought the pants were closed. I didn't know you're unzipping the pants. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, like chaps, like a little zipper. Maybe it's like a crotchless suit. Yeah. And then, And then, yeah, the condom situation. Yeah, I would be extra safe. I would, female condom and a regular condom.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Because it's just like, what if one slips? And then her pussy sucks the soul out of you? Mm-hmm. That's scary. In X-Men 97, the cartoon, Rogue is having a fling with Magneto because he's the only one that can touch her. I can't remember why.
Starting point is 00:19:06 I don't remember what the, his powers do that he became immune to her power. I don't remember either, and I knew they were hooking up, and I thought it was funny, because they drew Magneto real gay. He did. And I said, oh, okay, I'm on board with this.
Starting point is 00:19:23 This is fun. Yeah. Wait, who else hooks up? Mystique and... Mystique fuck somebody and then Nightcrawler's her son. I don't know who she fucks. Me either. And I know Magneto fucked somebody to have Quicksilver.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Yes. And Wanda. In the comics. He fucks Wanda? No, no, no, no. That's also his kid. Wanda Vision? Because they're a sibling, Quicksilver and...
Starting point is 00:20:01 Oh, yeah. Whoa. Wow. Now, poor Wanda. I know. Her dad has got a real mission. He was probably like an absentee father. He was probably never there.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Bringing that trauma into like losing her mind with her kids. Yeah. Oh, dang. Magneto has his force field absorbs rogues powers. Oh. He has a force field? I guess. The best thing about like comic books and cartoons is like, oh, you thought there was
Starting point is 00:20:38 rule? Not anymore. There's a force field now. How about that? How about that? It really is like a nerdy soap opera. They're like, and then this person slept with this person and then they had a baby, but that one's enemies with their brother. And then this separate. It's like. Yeah. So, and then also anything can happen. And you know what? Now they're all zombies. Actually, you know what? We're in a different dimension. Yep. We're going to restart in a different dimension. There's so many dimensions. So many dimensions. let's take our break and think about dimensions. That was a good thing.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Yeah, there's so many. You know what's interesting? If other dimensions were real, it's like in another dimension right now, are other Nicole and others this year recording a podcast? I hope so. And if so, is it like still best friends or is it like enemies to friends? Like in another dimension, are we friends the whole time? Isn't that crazy to think about it?
Starting point is 00:21:43 That is crazy. What happens in another dimension? I feel like there was like scientific proof recently that there are other dimensions. Did I read all of it? No. No. Do I know how they found the proof? Not at all.
Starting point is 00:21:59 No. But I saw it. And I appreciate you telling me about it. So I'm going to go probably later tell somebody else about this. And I'll be like, so she or told me. Do I remember exactly what she told me? No. But like it is crazy to think about.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Is my mom alive in another dimension? Possibly. Like, get me there. I miss her. But then what if you put a rift in the time space continuum? And then she dies anyway? No! It's like, how did the earth end?
Starting point is 00:22:40 Nicole just wanted to see her mummy. She couldn't handle not having a mummy. And my dad's like, what about me? Oh, no. But that is so crazy to think about like... It is, yeah. Because in other dimensions and comic books, like, they're still superheroes, but it's like... A little different.
Starting point is 00:22:58 Yeah, a little funky. Mm-hmm. Hmm. Also, I'm like, why? Like, or like, why would that need... I mean, I guess... I guess I don't know how that would have even developed at all, but it's like, what... Why?
Starting point is 00:23:16 I think it's so they can like reset. So it's like if a bunch of people die in one storyline, it's like, well, we go to Dimension 42. And they're all live. Yeah. Everybody's, it's a party there. Mm-hmm. Do you think in another dimension there's a different president and gas is $2? You got to go to that one.
Starting point is 00:23:37 Gass is, Sashir, I don't know how the people are driving. It's $6 in some places. It's crazy. And then you said you saw a video. I also saw the same video of people filling up gallons and it's not filling up to a full fucking gallon. Scam. Everybody's scamming.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Everyone's scamming. And I'm on a mission because I have a $250 shell gift card. I tried to use it. The guy said call it on the back. Because it wasn't going through. It said error. So I called the number. The number said go online.
Starting point is 00:24:08 I go online. Online tells me I have to make a fucking profile to check the balance. I checked the balance on one. It says zero. I remember using that one. I said, great, throw it away. The other one? Error.
Starting point is 00:24:18 You have to call customer service. They don't think I'm going to do it. I will do it. I will get my money from Shell gas stations because gas is too fucking expensive. I got the time. I got the time. She's got the time. Tomorrow, I don't really have a thing to do.
Starting point is 00:24:36 Unless we're recording, are we? We are. I, after we finish, don't have a thing to do unless we've made plans. Like lose plans But after later After I'm done with that I'm calling I'm gonna get my fucking money
Starting point is 00:24:51 You should They don't think I will And they don't know you Shell does not know me I can't wait I can't wait till they're like You have $6 left on this card After all that
Starting point is 00:25:03 And I'll be like great Give it to me I will use that $6 That'll give me at least a gallon It should It's wild It is wild in these streets. Yeah. Everything's so fucking expensive. I know because we're at war.
Starting point is 00:25:17 Mm-hmm. Everything expensive. It's bad. It's bad. I got a sandwich, a tuna fish sandwich. One of the things famously is for pores. A can of tuna fish, that's cheap. That's cheap. This sandwich was $20. What? That way makes sense. No. That's crazy. Isn't it? I said, this tuna fish going to fuck me? What else is it going to do? It satiated me. It was nice. It was not $20 nice. I'm so sorry. Thank you. Thank you for your condolences. Do you remember the Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey show where she was eating tuna? And she was like,
Starting point is 00:25:57 wait, is this chicken? He's like, no. Like, what what are you talking about? She's like, it says chicken of the sea, but it doesn't taste like chicken. He's like, because it's fish. It's tuna. You are giving him so much credit. That's true. He made her sound so dumb. He made her sound dumb.
Starting point is 00:26:19 The disdain in his voice. I said this man hates this woman. I honestly did not understand the name chicken of the sea until this year. Ah. Okay. You got it? Well, I guess I guess I knew it wasn't chicken. I knew it wasn't chicken, but I was also like kind of team Jessica, like, well, if it's tuna, why are we calling it chicken of the sea?
Starting point is 00:26:46 Yeah. I guess. I guess because maybe of like sayings that are like tastes like chicken or like just how common chicken is and how much people like eating chicken. I was like, oh, this is as popular as chicken in the sea. Yeah. That's what I, the conclusion I arrived to this year in 26. But also it's like, it's fine. Sometimes we just don't think about stuff.
Starting point is 00:27:10 It was like, why, we don't need to dissect that. No, we don't. And he was so mean about it. Mm-hmm. And she was asking an innocent question. And then, like, I do feel like that, like, of course, boosted ratings. And then the show was super popular. And then they had to, like, keep making her dumb, which was kind of a bummer.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Yeah. But I think she had, like, some, like, goofy moments. Mm-hmm. But they really had to, like, play it up, like, Jessica. Because of a dumb ass. Look at my dumb wife. That does suck. It sucks.
Starting point is 00:27:45 You can't have one dumb moment. They're like, nope, you got to monetize it and be an idiot. Dumb forever. Yeah. And then do you remember that one photo where she's wearing a big belt and everyone's like, whoa, what a whale! She's the fattest a person's ever been! I don't remember this.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Allie, do you remember? It was at the Chili Festival. I didn't know where a... The Chili Festival. That's so funny that you immediately knew it was a chili festival. Like chili peppers? No, like chili, like the meal. Oh.
Starting point is 00:28:15 I didn't know that they had festivals for the chili. If someone's watching this and watched my face fall, I got so confused. I was like, I was like, chili the pepper, chili the restaurant. And then when she said chili the meal, I went, what? And then I was like, oh, like chili. There's a lot of chilies. There's so many chilies. Could be burr, cold?
Starting point is 00:28:36 Oh. That's another one? Yes. Wow, yeah, chilly. You don't remember this photo? I really don't. She looks great. She looks incredible and she was like on the cover of like Us Weekly and it was like,
Starting point is 00:28:55 have you ever seen a whale out of the water? People were laying into how big they thought she was. That's insane. And I simply don't think she's more than like a size two. Like she looks, she still looks small. She looks incredibly tiny. She has curved. She's an hourglass.
Starting point is 00:29:11 Yes. That sucks. The internet's so harsh. So harsh. Also, people were so mean to Britney Spears for that VMA performance. I look back. It wasn't that bad. Which one?
Starting point is 00:29:27 Give me more. Give me more. Where she kind of had dead eyes and was like wandering on the stage. Is that when we were at the VMAs? No. No. That was lemonade. This was before.
Starting point is 00:29:40 Lemonade. Yeah, this is way before Lemonade. Okay. This was, she had tracks in her hair because she had cut her hair off a couple months ago. I think she had just like had a baby a couple months prior. Yeah. And then she's wearing a black like bra. You don't remember this? I really don't remember this.
Starting point is 00:29:56 I grew up without cable. I watched most of the VMAs. You watch all of the VMAs. I know. I guess I must have watched it, but I don't remember this. We talked about it for so long. I don't remember. Everyone watching and listening right now is frustrated with you.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Yeah. You don't remember this? Oh, yes, I do. I do. Yeah, it was bad tracks. Yeah. I watched it back, though. It's not as bad as everyone made it out to be.
Starting point is 00:30:25 I'm sure it isn't. I kind of like it. It felt like a choice that she was just like, I don't know, like a little like, ooh. Yeah. People, it was ahead of its time. People did not understand. Honestly, whenever people are criticizing shit, I'm like, you know, ahead of its time. Ahead of its time.
Starting point is 00:30:40 head of its time. Because I probably just used to Brittany, like, tearing it up and, like, dancing really hard all the time. But she was drugged up out of her mind. So she seemed a little drugged up. But then, uh, I feel like Gimme Gimme More was, that video was like in a strip club. Yeah. And then if you, wait, what else was on that album?
Starting point is 00:31:02 Blackout was a good album. Was, um, womanizer on it? No, that's circus. Oh, okay. I think that's circus. What else was on Blackout? Piece of Me. Oh, Peace of Me is a great song.
Starting point is 00:31:18 Peace of me, yeah. Oh, you want a piece of me. You know the Britney Spears song I like? It's the one with Will I Am where it's like bra bra bra. What is it like? You better, wait. I think I know that. scream and shout.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Yes. I want to scream and shout and let it all out. And Will I. I am like, Will I am and Britney bitch. But he's like using a vocoder and his voice is like deeper. It's a good. It's a good.
Starting point is 00:31:58 Also ahead of its time. I don't think people appreciate it when it came out. Probably not. We were not appreciating Brittany when we had her. Definitely not. Hmm. I do wish she would come out with new music. But I get it.
Starting point is 00:32:10 She's having a nice time twirling in her little. living room. I just want her to have peace. Yeah. That would be nice. Yeah. Yeah. Getting comfortable. Just getting a little cozy. kicking them dogs up. Yeah. This is usually how I want to say anyway.
Starting point is 00:32:26 But I can't... Usually I wear jeans when I'm recording. And I have stopped because I can't do this in Jason. Oh. Mm-hmm. What if you got a flexible gene? I don't know. Like... Like a stretch. Yeah, but it still does it. It feels still like A little tight.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Yeah, I guess that. I think I told you this. I recently went to JCPenney. Oh, yes. Got some good stuff in there. I was like, oh. I got this really cute dress. Ashley Graham has a plus size line.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Oh, nice. Plus size divas. Go to JCPenny. I would go in person. You got to try it on because the sizing is a little off. But I got a really cute dress on sale. $23. Oh.
Starting point is 00:33:11 You did send me a picture of a sparkly hot dog handbag and you're like, this is $80. You're not getting this? I was like, I understand. Please don't buy me an $80 hot dog purse. But then I went to Marshall's and I think I saw the same brand. I didn't find the hot dog one. But there were purses that looked like it, the same sparkly beads and whatnot with like cupcakes and like pasta and other things like that. And I was like, oh, is this like a trend?
Starting point is 00:33:42 Is this what's in right now? Maybe it's really hard to know what's a trend and what's, there's so many weird little micro trends that I decided that I'm not keeping up with. I'm going to wear exactly what I want. I did find the perfect pair of pants. I love these pants. There's Xana die. Okay. Which is.
Starting point is 00:34:03 Zana die. It's a company from like the 90s, 2000s. That's fun. And they're like not super thick, but they're. like a sturdy denim. Yeah. Because I was in J.C. Penny. I was touching on the Levi's. What the fuck happened to Levi's?
Starting point is 00:34:19 Oh, no. These fucking jeans, they were so thin. Oh, no. I said, these are not the rugged Levi's that I've come to know and love. No. Because usually Levi's, you got to like break in. And I was like, you don't have to break shit in. If anything, you can snag and have a hole in these guys. Yeah, these will break. I did not like that.
Starting point is 00:34:35 I don't like that either. But J.C. Penny had a great selection of shoes. Well, well, wow. Some leper print Nike's. I said I had a nice time. JC Penny is not paying me. But I think we need to return to the mall. It would be nice.
Starting point is 00:34:51 I had a ball. I tried on so much. Yeah. Bought one thing. I slipped my dogs into so many pairs of shoes. Didn't buy any. I had a really nice time in JCPenney. Well, look at that.
Starting point is 00:35:04 And it was like walking around the mall. Did you know piercing pagoda still exists? Do you even know a piercing pagoda is? I don't know what a piercing pagoda is. Piercing pagoda is a kiosk in the middle of the walkway. You know, you're walking and you're like, ah, kiosk, that's one of them. And they pierce your ears. They pierce the baby's ears.
Starting point is 00:35:24 They pierce the adults' ears. They do everybody of all ages. Okay. And I thought piercing pagoda went away, but they have rebranded to banter by piercing pagoda. And I was so excited to see the piercing pagoda because they have pretty good jewelry. I think it's pretty good quality Okay
Starting point is 00:35:40 And I was like looking at this one little Like necklace charm And I was like oh I think I might get that And I said to the lady I was like excuse me And she went yeah what's up And I was like what's up And I had never felt older Because I was like
Starting point is 00:35:53 This is not a greeting that I want But I ended up not buying it Because I didn't like it Of course The experience I didn't like her Yeah I get that She cost banter by piercing Bogota a sale
Starting point is 00:36:06 Wow Mm-mm No manners these days. No manners. No manners. No customer service these days. No customer service is crazy. But I'm telling you, I love them all.
Starting point is 00:36:19 I don't like the mall. I don't like the mall. I brought you to a mall once. I thought it was going to be so fucking fun. I'm so sorry. You didn't have any fun. I didn't have any fun. You didn't want to try nothing on.
Starting point is 00:36:30 You didn't want to wander around Macy's. I feel like when I'm in a mall, I get a headache. Uh-huh. I feel sick. Uh-huh. I like don't physically feel good. I'm like, how can I get out of here as soon as possible? I just, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:36:43 I just don't enjoy the experience of being in a mall. And you're like, let's walk around. And I was like, I feel horrible. I'm sorry. It's okay. We're allowed to like different things. Maybe an outdoor mall. I think just like being inside like that doesn't feel good to me.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Okay. I think when I walk into the mall, there's just so much possibility I could get like pretzels Oh yeah I can get shoes I could find a shirt maybe Yeah
Starting point is 00:37:17 If I want to sit down There's a whole food court Yeah If I'm bored A movie theater Sometimes it'll be a Dave & Busters Play a video game That is nice
Starting point is 00:37:29 I love I love But the thing that I don't like About them all is how I'm like tearing up It's I don't like how homogenous the stores are looking. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:51 Like there's no delineation between a Hot Topic and a Bath and Body Works. Well, that's, pick different examples. Those are two very different stores. Yeah, I know, but they kind of read the same. From the outside you mean? Yeah, the same font. Hot Topic used to have the like, like somebody with a shaky hand
Starting point is 00:38:11 wrote it you remember right yeah it was like hot tarick in a doom buggy writing yeah like on their way to renfair and now it's just like straight lines
Starting point is 00:38:26 and I'm like I don't want that yeah I don't like that either the last hot topic I walked past I was like what is this block lettering what is this what is this I don't like it there was no like like
Starting point is 00:38:36 it didn't feel gothic No edge. Yeah. Luke warm topic. Yeah. Yeah. Hire her. She, that was loop warm topic.
Starting point is 00:38:53 But yeah, I'm just like, I miss when like Bath and Body Works had that like plaid and limited two was in big bubbly letters. And like the flowers. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Everyone's afraid to stand out. Be yourself. Be yourself. Stand out. I get it.
Starting point is 00:39:18 I loved Limited 2. Oh. Loved. Yeah. Could never wear anything from Limited 2 because I was Husky. And I had to shop in the Mrs. Section, which is like a real bummer. Yeah. Also, J.C. Penny.
Starting point is 00:39:35 Not to go back to J.C. Penny. Please. they have a boys husky section in 2026 it said husky boys and then it said husky ninos and I was like so there's no Spanish word for husky still husky you're husky in any language
Starting point is 00:39:51 but I was like damn dog we just gotta be a different way to say that but plus size boys also sounds like a hate crime but husky's just so bad so wild husky yeah I guess I don't know how you would phrase it otherwise Big boys. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:11 I want to be a big boy. Because maybe it sounds like you're like growing up as opposed to like you're just chubby for your age. Yeah. But maybe Husky shouldn't be. I don't know. Husky just sounds like feral. Like a husky. Oh, like a dog?
Starting point is 00:40:28 Yeah. Yeah, I want something nicer. The cuddly boys. That kind of sounds bad too. The fluffy boys. fluffy boys section boys big and tall yeah big and tall
Starting point is 00:40:42 I think that sounds nicer yeah because I don't want them to get like in the field certain kind of way yeah yeah because I remember seeing Husky as a kid and being like
Starting point is 00:40:51 I'm not like the others they all get to go to limited two and I have to go to just the limited and why not do a plus section for the little girls limited as well yeah limited also
Starting point is 00:41:04 limited also in addition to us. Let's take a break. Let's take a break. Mm-mm. What was a store that you loved growing up? I loved Delia's and I never got a single thing from Delia's.
Starting point is 00:41:28 I feel like, well, I guess when I was a kid, most of my stuff was from Goodwill. So, or like hand-me-downs from my cousins. So I didn't go to like teen girl stuff. I feel like when I was able to spend my own money, I would go to Forever 21 all. lot. That was a story I passed in the mall where I was like, when I grow up, I'm going to forever 21. And I did. When I get money, I'm going to Forever 21. We did spend a lot of time in the Forever 21 in Times Square. Because we had that show in the theater district that would end at like 10 p.m. 11 p.m. And the Forever 21 in Times Square, it was open until 2 a.m. Yes. What a time.
Starting point is 00:42:09 What a time. So we just wander in there, try on clothes. It was great. Getting the photo booth. And then the plus section was downstairs all the way to the back. But they had a good plus section. Yeah. It was nice. And it was like cheap. It wasn't more expensive than the regular stuff.
Starting point is 00:42:27 What's there now? For teens? No, no. Oh, in that spot? Yeah. Because for 211's gone now. I have no idea. It was like multi-floors.
Starting point is 00:42:38 Yeah, it was like three fucking floors of cheap, cheap, cheap clothing. Cheap, too, too, clothing. Remember Virgin Megastore? Oh, yeah. Where they sold records? Mm-hmm. Now they have hotels. What an interesting rebrand.
Starting point is 00:42:52 You want to listen or now you want to sleep? Wait, I thought they always had hotels. Oh, oops. I kind of feel like that all that happened at the same time. They had airplanes, hotels, cruise lines, music. They have cruise lines? Yeah. Virgin cruises.
Starting point is 00:43:07 Oh. I don't know they currently do because I think some things have shifted. Wow. They really diversified their portfolio. I said you will not get rid of us. Physical media died. You still got to sleep. You still got to travel.
Starting point is 00:43:19 You got to travel. And you got to get on a boat. Wait, Allie, did you look up what's in the Times Square Forever 21's vacant space? I did. It says the massive multi-level retail space at 1540 Broadway and Times Square where Forever 21 used to be is currently undergoing a multi-tenant, releasing and repositioning effort by Vernado Realty Trust. So it looks like it's nothing in there working on it. Let's take it. Let's take it.
Starting point is 00:43:46 Yeah, this is our Forever 21. And everyone's like, what do you sell? And we're like, memories? Do you remember when it was here? We'll just tell you what was on every floor. This was denim. One store I cannot believe still exists is the M&M store. I cannot believe there is still enough patronage for a Times Square.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Eminem store and a Vegas M&M store. and a Vegas M&M store. I don't even know. There might be more other places too, but I'm like, who is thinking about M&Ms like that? Who's thinking about M&Ms like that? I was like, I can't wait to get to New York and go to the M&M store. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:44:30 I don't know why that's like inexperienced to go to. Because they probably only have M&Ms. They only have M&Ms. And then M&M merchandise? Mm-hmm. Like plushy M&Ms. Yeah. You can get that slutty green Eminem.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Oh, yeah. I love her. Scandalous when she popped on the scene. Yeah. And then they changed her boots? Yeah, they're sneakers now. That sucks. Yeah, that really does suck.
Starting point is 00:44:54 Taking away her femininity. Why can't sluts be sluts? What are we a slut? That's who she is. There's a red Eminem. Oh, you know what? It's probably conservatism. Probably.
Starting point is 00:45:05 Yeah, red Eminem and yellow Eminem. And they are like partners in crime. They're like the main too that like started the whole thing. Yeah. And they like, they did something to Santa? They stole. Did they kidnap Santa? Or they just stole his presents or his cookies?
Starting point is 00:45:19 Have they knocked him down? They kill Santa. It's really funny that we know they did something with Santa, but we don't know what. There was a commercial where the actor playing Santa got a concussion while filming the 1996 M&M Christmas commercial. Is that what you're thinking of? what we're trying to talk about, but that's a crazy fact. That is a crazy fact, but what do they do
Starting point is 00:45:47 with Santa? I think like, that's not even what we're talking about. No, just like, I was like, like, I can't even believe that that's a thing. That's a thing that happened. But what is the commercial? Like, in the commercial, they do something with Santa. I think they kidnap him
Starting point is 00:46:03 or like tie him up or something. I think they knocked him down. I think they killed him. This is saying that they run into Santa and then That causes the red Eminem and Santa to faint in shock after realizing each other's existence. I see, I see. And that gave him a concussion. Whoa, he really committed.
Starting point is 00:46:21 That's wild. I can't wait they didn't make it safer for him. Because I feel like you only see his feet. Yeah. Just put padding on the floor. That's fernie pads. What are we doing? Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Wow. Dedication to Eminems. And that's why the stores still exist. Because even Santa's dedicated to the Eminemes. Is there a brown Eminem? Yes. Is she a slut? No, she has glasses.
Starting point is 00:46:45 She's a nerd. She's not a nerd. She's like a... Isn't she sultry with those lips? I don't know why I want slutty candy. I feel like she does have a deeper voice. She represents maturity, sophistication, and being in charge. She's not bossy, just the boss.
Starting point is 00:47:01 Okay. Oh, she's a girl boss. Okay. And she's black, technically. Yes. The brown M&M? We're brown. I like that.
Starting point is 00:47:10 I like that she's sophisticated. Yeah. And then the green one, what does she represent? Confidence, sass, and allure. Oh, that's true. Oh. Is that the rest of the, is it all of them? There's a purple one. There's a purple M&M. That was the newer one. Quarky, fun, self-acceptance by embracing her unique floss. What bag is the purple one in? That's a lot. That's a lot going on. What bag is the purple one in? I feel like there was a moment where they had like, it was like a big deal that purple one? I'm sorry. Allie, can you throw them up on the screen? I need to see them all. Yeah. I feel like there's a big deal where the purple one showed up. And maybe it was like, I don't know if it was during Pride Month or something.
Starting point is 00:47:53 Or like, I think there is a level of like accepting yourself. We're all different. Oh. But again, what bag is she in? I think the normal bag. I think the everyone bag. I don't think there's a purple. I've never seen a purple M&M.
Starting point is 00:48:08 Oh. No, there she is. See? She's a peanut one or she's a bigger one. I don't know what's inside of her. But she's not shape right. She's shaped like a peanut eminem. She's shaped like the yellow one.
Starting point is 00:48:19 Meet the crew. Hey, I'm red. Hey, how oldie, I'm yellow. Oh, orange is stressed out. Who's there? He's always scared. That's purple. Hi, I'm purple.
Starting point is 00:48:30 She's fun. And then green. See, that's a classic Eminem shape. I hate those shoes. Those dumb shoes. Okay. Chow. I'm brown.
Starting point is 00:48:42 Okay. So I'm blue. Oh, the cool blue one, yeah. I need to know what bag purple's in. I think what are you saying? What do you mean? She's not. Why are you trying to altruize her?
Starting point is 00:48:56 This is why she needs to accept herself because everyone's trying to kick it out. She is not in a classic bag. I've never seen a purple M&M. Huh. Can you Google what bag is the purple Eminem in? Because others want to know. See, I don't think any of the other. them have purple anymore? At what point was there purple? And that was three years ago. I've never
Starting point is 00:49:17 seen a purple Eminem. I just remember them in the advertisements. I love purple. I, if there was a in the brown bag of just classic chocolate, milk chocolate M&Ms, I would remember a purple one. I would remember one in a peanut. I love the yellow, what is this purple bag? Was it all purple? You can buy all purple through the Eminem website. Oh. Oh, purple Eminem is making his debut, but not to all bags. Interesting. I knew it. This is 2022.
Starting point is 00:49:51 But which bags? She'll appear in stores and on the website and in some limited edition packaging. I knew it. I knew it. I knew she wasn't everywhere. I haven't seen her anywhere. Because I would save her. That's true.
Starting point is 00:50:10 Because when I eat a bag of Skittles, I saved the purple still. last. Not because they taste any different because they're purple. Yeah. Should we answer questions and queries? Let's do it. Oh man. I was like having an anxiety attack. We got to the bottom of it. Because you kept saying it was in bags and I know it wasn't. You're right. I don't know what I'm talking about. I don't even eat emms. Why did you fucking open your mouth? Why the fuck did you join in?
Starting point is 00:50:40 What are you getting people? by big Eminem to spread fucking lies about the purple Eminem being played Get back at me for throwing out your fucking hot dog I already feel bad I don't even eat Eminemps I'm like having a like identity crisis being like I don't remember I'm going through every Halloween
Starting point is 00:51:04 candy I've eaten I'm being like I've never had a purple M&M and you're like they exist I just remember the advertisement and I remember being a really big deal when they came out I guess I haven't seen one in real life. Thank you. Thank you for that admission. That was big of you.
Starting point is 00:51:23 Your experience is valid. Thank you. Thank you. Hi, Nicole Sashir and the best friends team. I have a best friend query. One of my closest and best friends is also my landlord and former roommate. He owns the apartment I live in. He started school this fall in Europe.
Starting point is 00:51:43 and in the two weeks leading up to his first day, the two of us vacationed across the continent as a last hurrah. For a little over a month before leaving, he started the process of finding a new tenant, but he's yet to find any takers. He quit his job to go to school and now finds himself in a pickle where he both has to pay for living abroad, school, and also his mortgage back at home without an income. On one of the last days of our vacation, he offhandedly mentioned to me that if he can't find someone, then he'll probably go through. through the process to evict me so that he can rent out the whole apartment for a higher price, since people who've inquired so far are hoping for a place to themselves. This took me by surprise because while I know he was having issues finding someone, at no point did he mention the possibility of eviction.
Starting point is 00:52:30 I tried to talk to him the next day, asking whether he has a potential timeline for when this might happen, and he got defensive saying, I'll let you know as soon as I know. To say the least, I'm so mad at him. At no point has he expressed any kind of consideration for what this decision means for me, nor has he tried to work with me, whether that means asking if I might help find a roommate or potentially pay more for a few months while he finds someone. I was hoping to move to New York City or the West Coast in about four to six months. To no one surprise, D.C. is not the place to live nowadays.
Starting point is 00:53:02 However, I now feel like I need to move immediately because I could be invicted any day now. My questions are, one, am I crazy for being upset? And two, how do I express my disappointment in him while also being considerate of his situation, both in terms of being understanding that he's financially in a bind and has the potential or and the potential of causing him stress while he's in a new country and starting a new program? I don't want to do something that might cause him to start school on the wrong foot because I know how important this is to him. Sorry for the long message, but I thought more context was better than less.
Starting point is 00:53:34 Big fan and hopefully I'm still living in D.C. to see the live podcast in November. I remember, sincerely one stressed tenant. P.S., I'm not currently on the lease because I was hoping to move anyway, so no one is breaking a lease by either eviction or moving early. Okay. That's a tough situation because just like casually being like, yeah, I was going to start the process to evict you. Do you want to get dinner? Like, that's pretty fucking wild.
Starting point is 00:54:02 I mean, the person who wrote in was like they never mentioned before the possibility of evicting me. But this is them mentioning it now. Yes. They didn't say I'm evicting you tomorrow. They said, I might have to evict you in order to rent out the whole unit. Yeah. Now you know. Like, there's no time frame at all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:26 It's not a great information to know, but like, now you do know. I don't know. Yeah, it's like, I guess they could have mentioned it before, but like they're mentioning it now. So what's the... I guess I'm coming from it with like, okay, if there is no timeline and then you start the process, I guess then you have the timeline, but then what if the timeline's like two weeks or like a week? Yeah. I guess I'm like, I know they own the building. They're renting to them.
Starting point is 00:55:00 But like since they're friends, I feel like it'd be like a discussion. Yeah. Well, I guess this is opening up the discussion. Hopefully they have more conversations about it. Yeah. What does that look like? How much lead time can this person get before they have to like fully move? They said they brought it up and then they got a little defensive and it was like, when I have more information, I'll tell you.
Starting point is 00:55:22 But I guess it's like it's not about you, the renter, because they're stressed out. So yeah, maybe it's like, hey, how can I help you out with this? Like, do you want me to move sooner? Yeah. Do you want me to? Yeah, I guess bring up, do you want me to find somebody to live here? Yeah. I guess I was like being a landlord's one thing, but it's like friend and landlord that it's like
Starting point is 00:55:46 maybe we come up with the solution together. But also in his main story or his main character story, he's like, I'm going to Europe. I like, I can't afford all this. I'm starting school. Like I got a lot on my plate. And if you weren't friends and this was your landlord, they wouldn't discuss this with you at all. They just say, I'm evicting you and I'm going to get rid of the, like, I'm going to sell the whole property.
Starting point is 00:56:09 Yeah. And you need to leave by this date. So, yeah, I'm kind of, yeah, I think what Nicole said, I think just ask more questions of like, could I help you search for another roommate? And if that's not an option you're willing to go down, can you let me know how much time I'll know in advance before I need to leave, et cetera, et cetera. And maybe just for your own piece of mind, you should start looking. Yeah. Just because this might be a possibility. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:41 Be like a little proactive on your own and don't wait for an eviction. Yeah, because I get like the landlord thing, but I'm like friend and landlord. That is kind of like funky. But it is they did tell you. Yeah. Yeah, I think just ask more questions. Yeah. And it might be nice for you to find your own place on your own volition anyway.
Starting point is 00:56:59 instead of like receiving a stranger like whoever fills that room anyway might be not like might be bad might be bad and then you're in a bad situation with your friend who's your landlord who's in a different country yeah exactly like your friend's not coming back for a while
Starting point is 00:57:15 it sounds like they started a new program somewhere else so it's like maybe go find another friend you can live with who you like already yeah I think that's the move yeah yeah solved Hi, Nicole Sashir and Allie. First, I just want to say that I love best friends. I listen regularly and genuinely look forward to every new episode every week. I'm writing not looking for advice about friends, but I need friend advice. I would absolutely love to hear what you make of my particular romantic mess. I'm a gay man in my late 30s, and for the last eight years, I've been in a long-distance polyamorous relationship with a married gay couple in Belgium. We met eight years ago when I was
Starting point is 00:57:58 between jobs and traveling in Thailand on my own little eat prey love adventure. We had immediate chemistry, and they eventually invited me to come stay with them in Belgium. I was already planning to travel around Europe after Thailand, so I said yes. I ended up staying for three weeks, and somewhere along the way, what happened, what was supposed to be a travel hookup turned into something none of us expected. They became the loves of my life. The timing was especially significant for me because I wasn't even out as gay when we met. Falling in love with them was a huge part of what gave me the current.
Starting point is 00:58:28 to come out to my friends and family. Eight years later, we've celebrated holidays and birthdays together, attended weddings as a threple, met each other's families, traveled together, and built a life that feels very real, even though we don't live in the same place. We introduce each other as our boyfriends. I am completely in love with these two men. And here's the problem. They live in Belgium, and I live in California. Within our first year together, I was already thinking, okay, how do I move to Belgium and make this our actual life? I envision that the three of us living together as a happy little polyamorous thruple. Eight years later, I'm still trying to figure out how to make that happen. The immigration and practical realities of an
Starting point is 00:59:08 American trying to relocate to Europe are complicated, and I haven't found a realistic path that would allow me to simply move there and build a life with them. In the meantime, I've built my own life in Napa, California. I started a small business, which has actually grown into something I'm really proud of. My boyfriends are even investors in the business. So it's not like I've been sitting around waiting for them to rescue me. I have a life. I have work. I have friends. And I have things I'm proud of. But I'm also lonely. They have each other every day. I don't. In early years, we made a huge effort to see each other. We'd spend weeks together and see each other three to four times a year, either in Belgium, California, or somewhere else. I was so happy during those periods. But over the
Starting point is 00:59:48 years, the visits have become less frequent. Communication can sometimes be inconsistent. And while I understand that relationships change and life gets busy, the reality is I find myself wanting the kind of everyday intimacy that they get to have with each other. I sometimes feel like I'm in a relationship with two people who are having the relationship while I'm experiencing it in installments. And yet, I can't seem to let them go. I've thought about dating other people and finding a partner who lives closer to me, someone I could build a day-to-day life with. But here's where I get stuck. How do you genuinely give your heart to someone new when your heart already feels like it belongs to two people. Friends have suggested some pretty extreme solutions. The most obvious one is
Starting point is 01:00:29 they could divorce and one of them could bury me, which might take moving to Belgium easier. But I don't want that. They were happily married before I came along. I don't want to ask two people I love to dismantle their marriage for my benefit. They're also about 10 and 15 years older than I am, so I don't want to pretend there aren't practical realities about our different stages of life that could become even more significant over time. So this is where I need your help. Am I wasting years of my life waiting for a relationship that may never become a viable life together? Or is this exactly what love sometimes looks like, something unconventional and difficult at times that is worth fighting for because it's rare and real? Should I accept that loving
Starting point is 01:01:09 them doesn't necessarily mean I need to build my entire future around the possibility of living together and start looking for a partner who can give me the physical and emotional intimacy I need on a regular basis? Or should I keep trying to find a way to get to Belgium and see where the three of us can eventually build the life we've talked about for eight years? I don't want to give up on the lives of my life, but I also don't want to wake up at 40 and realize I spent my 30s waiting for a future that was never actually going to happen. So, Nicole and Sashir, what would you do if you were me? And perhaps more importantly, how do you know when fighting for love is romantic and when you're just refusing to accept that something isn't working? Thank you for
Starting point is 01:01:47 all the laughs every week. Thanks for being my relationship friends who don't actually know me. I mean, if you are enjoying the relationship, I don't think it's a waste. But if you're craving something that's not happening or there's no possibility of it happening, then I think you need to weigh your options and what you're willing to live with. Yeah. Like I'm all for unconventional relationships. Like long distance relationships can last. Polyamorous relationships can last. But like what are what do you want and how do you see your life? Like if in your mind 10 years from now, this is still happening and you're totally fine with it. That's an acceptable way to live. You don't have to change it. If you like it and they like it, you don't have to. But if you're like, I can't see myself 10 years from now. in the same situation where I'm in a totally different country than my two partners, then you need to figure out what you need to do to change that.
Starting point is 01:02:58 Yeah. I mean, I don't think you're asking people to dismantle a relationship because what is a marriage but a piece of paper? Like people have a bond and no piece of paper. People have a love. They're not married legally. Like, it's just a piece of paper. I think it's worth asking to make. immigration easier.
Starting point is 01:03:21 If you really, if they don't want to, and you really don't want to ask, maybe you date here in Napa. Maybe that's how you can get your, like they said they were craving, like, intimacy, like, more frequently. Yeah. So it's like maybe you take a partner or you just date. Yeah. If you don't think you're capable of, like, actually giving your heart to someone, be
Starting point is 01:03:50 transparent. I have two partners. I'm opening up my side to just date. And if you fall in love like, okay, that's kind of cool. And maybe you are capable of loving more than two people. I think it's like what would make you happy?
Starting point is 01:04:06 If immigrating is so hard and the three of you can't figure it out, then it's like how do you have peace while maintaining this relationship? And maybe you move there and you don't like it. And then you've waited years to do it and then you don't like it.
Starting point is 01:04:23 Yeah. I think it's like you've got to live on your own and do things that make you happy on your own. And you can maintain that relationship. Also, I wonder how much they've talked to, like all the partners have talked about this. Like, because if you bring up like, you know, the immigration process is so difficult and I really want to be there with you. how do you guys feel about me coming? Like, do they even want? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:52 It's possible we don't know what they think. Or I don't know what they think. Maybe this person writing in does, but like, have they asked, would you like me in Belgium more permanently? Or do you like this situation? And then it's like, oh, no, we like this situation. Then maybe it's like, okay, I got to rethink some things. I love these people, but I do need somebody in Napa. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:15 And if they're like, oh my gosh, we would love to have you here more, we want you to live here, then maybe they would be more open to like figure out a new way to arrange the marriage situation. I hate to say this, but eight years in and nobody's offered that might be the answer. Yeah. But if you haven't asked, I don't know. Yeah. You know, we don't know. We don't know. But yeah, I also think that that could have come up at some other point.
Starting point is 01:05:45 of like, we love you so much. Yes. We want to figure this out. But yeah, they haven't offered. Yeah. Yeah. But I really think they should date here. I think so, too.
Starting point is 01:05:59 Yeah. Because it doesn't take away from your love of those two. Not at all. Yeah. If you're Polly, like, which you can also discuss that with them too. Like, do you feel comfortable with me dating here, which I would hope that they would be and hope that they understand it. And also, I wonder, I guess we don't know,
Starting point is 01:06:19 but I wonder how much dating this person has done outside of this thruffle because that was part of their coming out journey. Oh, yeah. And maybe they're stuck with, not stuck with this couple, but stuck with this is how it's supposed to be because it was their first experience. Yeah. Hmm.
Starting point is 01:06:37 Yeah. So even if you're not looking for love, I think it would be helpful for you to at least have other experiences. sexuality.
