Starting point is 00:02:14 That's a deep sigh. So this show is coming out. called The Shards. And it's based on a Brett Easton Ellis book that I think I bought two years ago. I am only halfway through it. Through the book? Yes. And they already have a TV show coming out.
Starting point is 00:02:33 I mean, that honestly sounds really fast from a book to TV, like, trajectory. They didn't give me enough time to finish the book. Oh, wait. Did the book come out two years ago? Yes. That is fast. That's not your fault. That's on them.
Starting point is 00:02:47 That's really fast. And I need to finish the book before I watch the show. I'm just like, why did y'all work so fast? It's like they did it at the same time, kind of. They're like, we knew this book was good. It feels like the TV show was announced right as the book dropped. Wow. What's it about?
Starting point is 00:03:03 Shards is about, so I'm only halfway through. I like how Brett Easton Ellis writes. It's kind of a lot of repetition. Okay. So it really gets into your soul. But it's about this kid who's rich, who's like, dating this person. girl, but also sleeping with guys. He goes to this private prep school, and murders have been happening.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Oh, no. And then a mysterious new kid comes to school, and his friends are like, yeah, he's cool. But we're like, is he? And that's where I am. And I think I'm like, 200 pages in. Okay. And I'm like, where is this going to go? But then I'm like, if I watch this show, oh, no.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Yeah, you got to hurry up, girl. I know. Damn. It's too dang hard. It's too dang hard. But like, do you think they're going to release it all at once or like weekly? Because maybe you can watch it like the first few episodes before it starts getting to the point where you don't know what's happening. Maybe I could.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Maybe I could read it as I watch it. Yeah. A read and watch. A little read and watch. A little club of my own. Welcome to Nicole's Read and Watch Club. Mm-hmm. Or read and watch the same thing.
Starting point is 00:04:15 And nobody's here but me. Do you talk to yourself? No, no, I don't think I do. Do you? All the time. Oh. All the time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Yeah, sometimes I'll be like, oh, I have to wash the dishes. And then I'll say out loud, hey, Nicole, I think you could get up right now and wash the dishes. And then that helps me get up to wash the dishes. Yeah. And then sometimes in my car, I'll practice what I'm going to say, like, if you're If I need to speak to someone about something, I'll be like, oh, maybe I'll say this, maybe I'll say that. But it never goes the way I rehearse it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:56 I guess I have thoughts going in my head often, and I'm trying to reduce that. But I don't know if they're directed at me. Like, Sashir, this is the thing that we're thinking about, you know? I think it's just like, these are thoughts. But sometimes I will say things out loud because an Instagram reel told me that if you if you're ruminating too much or if you're just like yeah it's kind of like physical pain
Starting point is 00:05:26 emotional pain or whatever if you say it out loud that will alleviate some of it so sometimes I'll be like I'm feeling a lot of like out loud like in the car or whatever I'm feeling a lot of tightness in my shoulders and it's probably because of stress because I've been traveling for like a lot and this happened and like I felt icky
Starting point is 00:05:45 about this conversation I had and that's how I feel. And sometimes it feels like a little better after I say it out loud. Oh. Mm-hmm. That's fun. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Yesterday we went out to dinner. We did. And I was walking and I was feeling a little self-conscious about my outfit because I was wearing kind of like fancy cul-lots. My checkered sneakers. Oh, I thought that was a skirt. No, those are cul-lots. That's fun.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Do you remember a while ago I was like, I want to wear a cul-lots? I do remember this mission? I went and got some cul-lots. I'm so glad you did. They look great. Thank you. No, it wasn't a skirt. Wow, tricky.
Starting point is 00:06:22 I'm sneaky. You're so sneaky. I was walking into the restaurant. I looked down and I was like, oh, I am clashing. Maybe this was too much. And then there's Julie. And then I heard someone, or no, I heard Nicole Beyer, and I was like, did I say that? No, I didn't say that.
Starting point is 00:06:38 No, I'm not like actually. And then there was a lady and I was like, did you say that? And she was like, yes. And I was like, I thought that was in my head. And then I seemed crazy. No, I don't think she, I think she was like, I'm just on a mission to tell you how much I love you. Okay, maybe you're right, but I was feeling off. No.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Also, your outfit was awesome. I loved every part of it. That's great. Okay, thank you. Not clashing in the slightest. Okay. Yeah. I put on like eight shirts with those pants.
Starting point is 00:07:08 It was great. Because I'm trying to get away from wearing a funky pant and a solid color top. Okay, why? I don't know. I want to be funkier. Great. I'm trying to funkify myself. Funkify.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Yeah. Get funky. Let's get funky. Do you remember at dinner? Oh, yes, I'll never forget. Can I have an orange wine, but I don't want anything too funky. And no response at all. She was in her audience.
Starting point is 00:07:40 I repeated it three times. Let's get funky. And she didn't blink. She didn't smile. Nothing. No. No. It bummed me the fuck out. Who sings that song? Let's get funky. Is it the percolator? No, it's time for the percolator. Wait, or is it, it's time to get funky, funkie, funkett. Is it the Chachau Slide?
Starting point is 00:08:04 Oh, is it? Fonker. Everybody clap your hands, right? Yeah. Yeah, I want to get funkier. Yeah. I think you're on your way. Hey, thanks. I like this for you. Thank you. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:19 I don't want one interesting thing. I want several interesting things. Great. I keep seeing these old ladies on Instagram who just like really dress. And then there was this lady, you might have sent her to me. She's tall, slim, and white.
Starting point is 00:08:33 And she has a southern voice. And she was like, I had a friend who died over lunch. She said she was going to call me back. And when she said she's going to call you back, she's going to call you back. But she didn't call me back. And then her,
Starting point is 00:08:46 Her daughter told me she had passed away. And I started thinking, why am I saving all of these clothes? I have to just wear what I want to wear. And then that inspired me. Yeah. Because I was like, yeah, what am I saving all these clothes for? You have so many great clothes and like... Such great clothing.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Patterns and... Yes. Wear them. I've been wearing them. Yeah. Yesterday I was... I told you I was going to wear a my red polka-dop pans. Didn't wear them.
Starting point is 00:09:16 Then I put on for the longest time while I was getting ready, this floor-length, teal, light blue, dark blue, leopard print, flowy dress with an overcoat over it. I can't wait to see that outfit. It's going to be like a work. I need like a belt or something for it so I can like... Mm-hmm. Pull it together?
Starting point is 00:09:38 Yeah. Yeah. And I was going to wear my gold, slouchy boots. Mm-hmm. And then I was like, I don't know what to do with my hair. Then I was like, I do need makeup with this look. and I just didn't have the time. Simply didn't have the time.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I did not have the time. I wore red overalls with black polka dots and you were like, oh, man, I should have wore my red pants with polka dots. And I was like, oh, we were on the same wavelength. And you're like, you come to my house after and then we'll take a picture. Okay, but I also had to give you things. Yes, this is true. This is true.
Starting point is 00:10:11 This is true. Yes. And then that nice man was having a nice time. And all I've done to him this week has been like, look at this new stuff I got. Take a picture of me with it. Because I got a bunch of new phone cases. Oh, so many. I got a crock plus a gibbets.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Yeah. A rubber ducky. Yeah. A sad little piggy. Mm-hmm. A hot dog dog. Mm-hmm. Did you already see the phone?
Starting point is 00:10:38 The phone phone case? A phone that flips. Mm-hmm. And there's more on the way. Wow. I think a raccoon's coming to. today. And what will help you decide, like, who's going to go on the phone that day?
Starting point is 00:10:51 Well, I've been really enjoying the crock. Because I keep leaving it on the table and being like, there's a shoe on the table. Then I'm like, that's not a shoe. That's my phone. Yeah. But nothing, nothing is, like, really like, ooh, I got to change it. I want to keep them for a long time because I really ran through potato. because potato went through so much.
Starting point is 00:11:15 Yeah. So I had to buy a new potato. I bought two new potatoes. Okay, great. And one is on display in my little chotchky case. Because I love potato. Potato started it all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:30 But, yeah, I've just been like arbitrarily rotating them. Ducky's next. I really like Ducky. Yeah. It's also funny because the duck has like a little beak coming out from the back. They're all. All so stupid and funny. And the nice man in my life has a Google Pixel.
Starting point is 00:11:51 They don't make fun cases for a Google Pixel. No, those are efficient people. Oh, do you think that's what that is? I, maybe I assume. I acquaint Google Pixel with like, I'm here to do business. This is my work phone. Maybe that's not right, though. Well, I was told that in the rest of the world,
Starting point is 00:12:12 Android's are more popular. Whoa, I had no idea. Allegedly, do you mind looking that up, Allie? I just assumed everyone had an iPhone. Not everyone, most people. I don't think so. I think most people have Android's. That's interesting.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Mm-hmm. I mean, I have more bones to pick with Apple. What are them bones? Globally, androids are more popular, powering about 71 to 72% of all smartphones. Wow. That's a high percentage. That's higher than I thought.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Yeah. I thought maybe it was like six. Oh, interesting. Wow. We are a minority again. Again. Black and Apple iPhone users. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Oh, my God. Now the blue bubbles are the minority. That's really funny. What is your bone to pick with Apple? Well, one, my phone just updated in my sleep. God bless, I'm sorry. Against my consent. And I was like, excuse me.
Starting point is 00:13:10 And now I don't like how it looks. And you have to turn a bunch of things. of things off to be like, don't share my information. I don't want that sent to, I don't want you collect my data, I don't want AI use for this. You have to like say I don't want all of this stuff as opposed to like the option? It's just automatically
Starting point is 00:13:26 like, it's on your phone and I'm like, don't. That is annoying. I would like, yeah, I would like to opt into these things, not have to opt out of these things. Yeah, I don't like that. Speaking of AI, it keeps getting me. Me too. There was a really
Starting point is 00:13:42 great video of a woman falling down a slide. Oh, yeah, yeah. That's AI. I know. Although you sent one, I don't know if, I hope you were joking. It was a woman in a blow-up white suit. I was not joking. Is that AI?
Starting point is 00:14:01 It looked so much like AI. I was like, that has to be a joke. Like, it was, she was blown up like a balloon. And then she dove into the water. And the water splashing in the air looks like a joke. looks like a cartoon. Like, there was nothing
Starting point is 00:14:16 that looked realistic about that moment. And then there was a propeller coming from her butt of the suit and that was like,
Starting point is 00:14:22 like moving her forward through the water. And Nicole was like, is this real? I really want one. And I'm like, is that a joke? It's clearly not real.
Starting point is 00:14:36 It's one of those things where it's like, I want to believe so bad that this, that somebody created an inflatable suit that will propel me across the water.
Starting point is 00:14:44 It would be nice. It would bring me closer to my dream of being with the whales. Yeah, you go directly to them. I just want to be in the ocean. I just want to live amongst the whales and the dolphins and be the little mermaid, I guess.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Yeah. But I don't want, like, a fin. I still want my legs. Okay. I just want to be an ocean, bitch. Yeah. That's what I want. I want that for you too.
Starting point is 00:15:08 Did you paint this shirt or did you get it? It was our, this came as is to me. I don't know who. It's really cute. Thank you. Yeah, it's got like glitter paint on it on the flowers. I like it a lot. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:15:20 Yeah, man. God, I love clothes. Mm-hmm. Me too. You can't stop buying them. Yeah. It's bad. But I am buying, like, used clothes for the most part.
Starting point is 00:15:33 That's great. This whole outfit, except minus the socks and the shoes is used. That's great. Hell yeah. And your jewelry? used, used, used, used, used, used, treat, used, used. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Hell yeah. Look at me. Look at you, Thrifty Diva. I'm a thrifty diva, a recycling icon. Did you see the thing I sent you where you can put a basket in your closet so when you see something you want to donate, you just put it in the basket? So you don't have to, like, do a whole thing. It'd be like, as you're going, be like, actually, I don't want us anymore.
Starting point is 00:16:09 It just goes in the basket. This is so funny. I went. I already do that. Oh. I don't know why I was like, really? Oh, yeah, I do that.
Starting point is 00:16:18 I think it was like, what a great idea. In the other, in my like dress-up room, I have separated it with cheap clothes and clothes I can sell. Great. Because I want to go to Squaresville in Los Felis, which is a great secondhand store. I think priced pretty well. They buy. Yeah. And then I found the bearded beagle.
Starting point is 00:16:41 I don't know this. I didn't find it. It's been around for years. Yeah. But it's a very, very wonderfully curated vintage store. They do a lot of T-shirts, but then they have a smaller section of, like, other things. Love it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:53 I love everyone who works there. Okay. I've made friends with them. The people who work in Highland Park. Wow. And then there's this nice man in Los Felis who I came in, or I went in there last week wearing the shirt I bought the week before. And then he like, oh, he doesn't remember me.
Starting point is 00:17:09 But then when I checked out, he was like, oh, I remember. Oh, and I remember the shirt. that shirt. I was like, you're my friend. You're like trying your hardest to be recognized. You're like, yes. Remember this shirt? Remember?
Starting point is 00:17:19 It was here. And I was here. Yeah, I was wearing like, what is it? We're wearing a concert t-shirt to the concert. That's what I did. Yeah. But he was like, yeah, bring in your stuff. He's like, he was like, don't even go through it.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Just bring him whatever. Just kidding. Like, maybe go through. He was like, please. Yes, I will. But I'm very excited about this journey. I'm going to go on of trying to resell my clothes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:46 Because I was going through some of my old stuff that I, because I buy things. I'll buy eity-bitty little pants. And then I'll find another pair, itty-bitty little pants. And then a third pair, itty-biddle-lap pants. And then I go, I'm going to seam rip these and sew them together.
Starting point is 00:18:04 I got to give up that dream. It's really fucking hard. It's a hard project to do. It's so hard. Yeah. And me and Godoy, I need to go get my sewing machine from him. He's had it for a month. But we started doing it to a pair of pants.
Starting point is 00:18:21 And I was like, oh, I won't be doing this by myself. I won't be doing this ever again. I just, this is not for me. I'm hemming. I'm taking in. Making things bigger is a real fucking to-do. Yeah. My God.
Starting point is 00:18:38 It's the whole thing. Let's take a break. We better. This summer, my friends and I booked a trip to Palm Springs to celebrate a few summer birthdays we had in the group. It's the weekend I've been looking forward to this whole season. On the ride to Palm Springs, I couldn't stop thinking about all the new places I wanted to try, along with the tried and true favorites from past trips. One of the reasons I love Airbnb is we were able to stay in a beautiful home that was a new neighborhood to me,
Starting point is 00:19:11 which made me feel like I was right in the mix with locals getting their morning latte. The home had room for all of us to spread out and come together, which made the mornings before we headed out feel just as special as the adventures themselves. Our location also opened up a whole new range of vintage shopping. I had never gotten the chance to experience before in the city, which was a personal favorite of mine. I found a couple pairs of vintage sunglasses that I bought for our whole group. I'm so giving.
Starting point is 00:19:43 So the whole trip we felt extra stylish. when we were out and about on the town. The space we booked on Airbnb was really close to the aerial tramway that takes you up the mountain peak, which was something I had never experienced before in all my years of visiting. It was such a surreal experience
Starting point is 00:19:59 going to the top with my besties, and we wore our special sunglasses the entire time. There were so many high points to this trip. From the space we booked to the places we ate, but the memories we made will always be the most meaningful to me.
Starting point is 00:20:15 and booking our stay on Airbnb is what made it all possible. My mom was such a thrifty shopper, and I feel like I learned that from her. And so now when I'm shopping, I'm always trying to find a good deal, and I love getting things that are used, I love getting vintage finds, and I find so many things on WhatNot.
Starting point is 00:20:32 I found a brooch on What Not for literally half of what it was asking for anywhere else. What Not is the number one live shopping app in the U.S., where shopping happens in real time, with real people, real conversations, and incredible deals. On whatnot, you're connecting with sellers and other shoppers. It's like, hang in with a group that gets you. This is a fun way to shop.
Starting point is 00:20:54 You almost never pay full price. Shop named brands across makeup, perfume, clothes, handbags, jewelry, and more. All without the retail sticker shock. This is the best place to find great deals on products you love. I like being able to talk to the person that's actually selling the item. Like, sometimes you see a broach and you're like, I don't know where this came from or like who it's passed down from. but being able to actually talk to someone and be like, oh, they live in this town. They probably got it from this thrift store or it's a family heirloom or whatever.
Starting point is 00:21:23 It's like there's more story to it so it doesn't feel as disconnected. And I like that. Download What Not Today and get $20 off and free shipping on your first purchase. Search What Not, W-H-A-T-N-O-T in the app store, sign up and start finding the best deals on the products you love with $20 off and free shipping on your first purchase. Wow. Start your free trial at Shopify.com slash best friends. We're back. We're We're back.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Every time I say we're back, I'm reminded of the 90s cartoon, we're back. Which is the dinosaur one, right? Yes, and you haven't seen it? I haven't. Only the parade clip that you've shown me. We got to watch it. Okay. We'll watch it.
Starting point is 00:23:05 And you know what? I like saying that to you because then we do eventually randomly do it. We watched Baby's Day Out recently. What a great movie. I can't stop talking about it. I can't either. I was on the Dough Boys' live stream over the weekend for Munch Madness, and I brought up Baby's Day Out because it's such an incredible movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:27 They set it up for a sequel. It doesn't exist. It doesn't exist. Yeah. I want to see that baby go to China. Me too. I loved that baby. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:38 And I loved that these three men who stole that baby were traumatized by that baby. They were scared of that baby. But that baby didn't do anything to them. It was their own doing. because they were being really sloppy. So sloppy. Moving too fast. Not really aware of their space or their surroundings.
Starting point is 00:23:56 It's not the baby's fault. It's them. It is them. But then also, we had a question. We were like, there are three different archetypes of criminals. Where do they meet? Yeah, because one felt like a mob boss. Yes.
Starting point is 00:24:11 The other. One was like a goofy, like an 80s villain. Yeah, like a tough guy, like a Biff. Yeah. And then Joey Paine. Just being beautiful. Just being Joey's pants. I love him so much.
Starting point is 00:24:25 I loved it. Yeah, it was great. And Miranda was in it? Yes, Miranda was in it. Cynthia Nixon. Yes, Cynthia Nixon. Who's on the Gilded Age? Have you watched the Gilded Age?
Starting point is 00:24:37 I haven't. Okay, I don't like period stuff. I don't either. This is period stuff. It is. But the juice is juicy. Ooh. It's good.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Okay. Don't be a hater. I won't be hating player Play, don't hate I can hate the player But I will not hit the game Don't hate the game Girl, the show was all that
Starting point is 00:24:56 In her bag of chips Oh my goodness Don't fall back on me, play it I was trying to explain Don't fall back on me Play it to the nice band of my life And I was like Actually maybe I don't know what it means
Starting point is 00:25:06 Yeah It kind of sounds like Don't Like doubt me Yeah But then sometimes I'll say it as like, you can count on me. It has like so many different meanings. And I just say it all the time.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Yeah. And it makes sense every time. Thank you. But yeah, I'm bringing back hater. I like it. We don't say it enough. Don't need no hateration, holleration in this history. We should go see her.
Starting point is 00:25:40 I think she's in Vegas. Yeah, we should see her. Because we're also going to go to Vegas to see. Now you see me. which is not until October, I think. Oh, October? I think so. I think so what's happening.
Starting point is 00:25:51 But yeah, so I was like... Did you get tickets? I didn't. We should look into it. We should get them now before they sell out. You're right. This is so funny. I don't know if anyone's clamoring to see now you see me live.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Everyone's going to get it. It's going to be sold out. It might be. I don't know. It might be. We don't know what the demand is. I mean, I think regardless of it, if people are fans of the franchise. It is a magic show.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Yes. And people... I think that's one of the things to do when you're in Vegas is to see a magic show. So it'll probably still do really well. I fucking love magic. And I'm never picked. Oh, yeah, that's true. I'm never picked.
Starting point is 00:26:29 And I think it's because I want it too bad. Yeah, you got to be chill. I don't know how to be chill. I simply don't know how to. Yeah. Remember when we went to the magic castle? There was a lovely person with a beautiful voice. Oh, but they weren't doing magic, right?
Starting point is 00:26:44 No, no, no. They are an usher or, like, started the show. Yeah, like, like, like the people in the show, yeah. I saw them at Liza Minnelli. Fun. And I was like, huh. You recognize that one? Yes, that's funny.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Because I love their voice. Yeah. And I think they were wearing a lot of pins when they were working, and maybe they were wearing pins in life as well. Yeah. But it was funny because I was like, ah. That's funny. And then they were like, ah.
Starting point is 00:27:08 And then they went, ha. You're like, you're doing the thing. I love when people. people deliver. Uh-huh. My goodness. My goodness. Yeah, magic's great.
Starting point is 00:27:21 It's so fun. Like being tricked. I love being tricked. And I love up close, like quick slight of hand magic. Yeah. Mm-hmm. I told you, someone did a trick in front of me, and I started crying. Because it was in my hand, and then I opened it, and it was something different.
Starting point is 00:27:38 And I was like, I know my hand. This is my hand. This is mine. On my body. And I know what I was doing. I was holding it. Yeah. But then somehow things switched.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Yeah. And then I went, no, no, no. Burst right at a tear. I had magicians at my birthday party last year, year before? I can remember. I think last year. Probably. Because you went to Japan this year.
Starting point is 00:28:05 This year. So yeah. So yeah, it was last year. And you got chosen and you were on one side of the room and the nice man in your life was on the other side of the room. and I think you had your eyes closed. And it was something like, can you feel? A feather was tickling me. Yeah, but no one was near you.
Starting point is 00:28:23 It was so crazy. And we were like, wait, how is that happening? I don't know how that happens. I don't know either. Wild. Someone tried to ruin it for me and I was like, don't fucking do that. Yeah. I like whimsy and magic.
Starting point is 00:28:34 I want to believe. Yes. I want to believe in something. I just, something. I just want to believe. I just want a little bit of whimsy. my life. Please, don't ruin the
Starting point is 00:28:45 Lindsay and the magic. Oh my God. We got to go somewhere. Okay. We got to be somebody. You want to? We got to wake up and pay attention. Well, we went to New York,
Starting point is 00:29:03 but we haven't, like, we haven't had, we haven't, like, I guess that was just a recent trip. I don't know. I'm trying to get out of here. Trying to get out of here with you. Like a different place, not like, because we kind of have.
Starting point is 00:29:13 We know New York. Yes. It's not a new place to us. No. I agree. I don't know where we should go, though. We're about to go to Indianapolis. Also not a new place to us.
Starting point is 00:29:23 That's really funny. Well, we went to Indianapolis. And hopefully, we went to that town that has big stuff. Oh, God. Oh, God. The way I said, oh, God. Oh, God. As if I was dying.
Starting point is 00:29:40 But I can't wait to see big stuff. Yeah. I mean, infamously, I went and saw, was it a big chair with your dad? I think it was a big fire hydrant? Yes. And boy, oh boy, your dad was so confused. He was like, why are you so excited about this? And I was like, Papa!
Starting point is 00:29:59 Because I call him Papa. I was like, Papa! Isn't this fun? And he was like, okay. I'm sure he loved it. But what are the, there's a big chair there? He was a big chair, a big mailbox, a big pen. pencil or pen or something?
Starting point is 00:30:15 I missed the pencil sharpening in Minnesota. It was in June, I believe. Oh, dear. Yeah. I don't know how, oh, because I think it's... I don't know how to slip my mouth. I put it in my calendar or something funky. I keep doing that.
Starting point is 00:30:33 I think it was just like pencil and no other clues. And then I was like, what is the pencil? What? I see. Then there was sit in Sashir's seat for heat. Yes. We still have no idea what that is. And then coming up in August, I got a weekend called Fat Kit.
Starting point is 00:30:52 And I don't know what that means. I do what that means. But Friday, Saturday, Sunday, it says Fat Kit. K-I-T? Yes. Well, I hope you're prepared for it. I don't know how to. It's a three-day extravagant.
Starting point is 00:31:11 I don't know. Huh. Kitchen? Did you maybe not finish the word kitchen? Fat kitchen? Which still doesn't really make sense. For three days, I'm just going to be in my kitchen. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Huh. Why don't you help yourself out more? I don't know, Sashir. If I knew I could help myself. I don't know. It's like when you ask somebody, where's the last place you say? saw it. And it's like, I don't fucking know. That's, it wouldn't be lost if I knew the last place I saw it.
Starting point is 00:31:47 But it's one of those things where I'll just like put something in. I'll be like, ah, I'll remember that later. Yeah. And then I simply don't. But it's like you're already there. Like, you're already typing it in. And it has, there's so many little boxes to fill in. You can put the time.
Starting point is 00:32:00 Uh-huh. You could put the location. And it'll link to your map and be like, this is actually exactly where it's going to be. And then you can, and then you can type an infinite amount of letters. into the title of the day and say what the thing is. You don't have to abbreviate it. It's not like a word count thing where you don't, like, you can't, it's like, oh, I can't
Starting point is 00:32:21 type too many things in there. I had to make it, I had to give myself a clue. You can say exactly what the thing is. Are you sure? Yeah. Yep. You know what's funny? I didn't understand how Lindsay, my lovely, hilarious, helpful assistant was putting the
Starting point is 00:32:36 address into my calendar. I was like, how does, she always knows where I was supposed to go. obviously. But I was like, how does she, like, tell me where I'm supposed to go? I didn't know I could put the address in. You can. You don't even have to put the full address. You can start putting the address, and it might fill it in for you.
Starting point is 00:32:53 Hmm. I mean, I think I knew that at this point, but I honestly did not know for a very long time how to do that. Yeah. And I guess, yeah, I could. I could write full fucking sentences. I don't know. I don't know why I do this to myself. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:11 Unless you're in a rush and you're like... I'm always in a rush. Yeah, I quickly put this in there. I'm out of time. I don't know. Fat kit, we'll see. But, like, then the thing will pass and I'll be like, huh. I wish I knew what fat kit was.
Starting point is 00:33:25 Fat kit. Hmm. You simply don't know. Yeah. I hope someone wants you know. Also, back to wearing all the clothes I have. I don't think you know how many pairs of shorts I have. I certainly don't.
Starting point is 00:33:40 I've never known how many. how many shorts you've had. And I want to rectify that. I'd like you to come over and count. No, but I went into my shorts drawer and I was like, oh my God, what am I saving these shorts for? So I wore shorts out and about the other day. And I was like, wearing shorts is crazy. I'm like kind of naked.
Starting point is 00:34:04 I was like, my whole leg is average. And as I was driving, I was like, I'm just like feeling my, naked thighs. And then I was like, do other people feel so naked in shorts? I'm sure, yes. But also, I think some people are used to wearing shorts and prefer it. I'm not used to it yet. It felt, it felt insane. I went into CVS and I was like, oh, these people can see my lips. They can see all of it. I'm not even at a pool. It's just so scandalous. Sometimes I will put shorts on and be like, And it is too much leg.
Starting point is 00:34:45 And then I'll get a longer situation. Well, also, they were, so they fit in the, they were like a little big in the thigh. So I was like sitting on the couch by the time I got home and I was like, I can just put my hand right. You can get, there's so much access to me. Oh, no. If you can do it, somebody else, definitely. Yes. Imagine I'm at Chili's or something.
Starting point is 00:35:08 And they go, welcome to Chili's. I want my baby back. Shorts are crazy. Shorts are crazy. And I cannot imagine wearing, like, people go out in dresses. Mm-hmm. With, like, no shorts. And I'm just like, it's just there.
Starting point is 00:35:33 Like, your body's just under there. It's just body. It's just body. And then some people go out without underwear on. And I'm like, ah! That is wild to me. just a thin piece of clothing between you and like a public chair or your car? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:49 Also, because like, I guess I don't wash like my jeans or my like pants as much as my underwear. So I don't want to like treat my pants like my underwear and be like, well, use it once. Got to wash it. Yeah, I'll wear my jeans two or three times before I wash them. But I wash my underwear every time I wear them. Same. I have so many pairs of underwear. Me too.
Starting point is 00:36:12 Wouldn't it be funny if like this was a moment we're like, oh, I don't wash my underwear every day. I'm sure there's some people like that. Yeah, but I'm glad I'm on this side of history. I'm glad this wasn't a teachable moment for me. I'm really glad to. We can't handle that. I don't want that for you. You get roasted online again.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Again. They're like she doesn't lotion and wash her underwear. I think we talked about this. There's a video I saw where someone was filming the girls going on a girl's trip and how many, how many pairs of underwear they packed? And they're like, we're going away for three days. How much underwear are you packing? Fifteen.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Because you never know what may happen. You never know. I'm always packing so much underwear. If I go away for three days, six minimum. And then I'll go, seven, eight. And I'll take eight pairs of underwear. Yeah. Because what if I get too sweaty and I need to switch my underwear?
Starting point is 00:37:15 Yep. What if I decide to go to the gym? I'll need more underwear. Yeah. What if I get my period? I'll need more underwear. Totally. What if you have shorts on someone reaches in and steals the underwear right off of you?
Starting point is 00:37:29 At Chili's? At Chili's. Great. Now I'm going to have that fear in my head. But shorts are crazy. I think they're so crazy. And then do your thighs chafe? No.
Starting point is 00:37:52 Oh. What's that like? I guess I don't really notice it. Oh, you're just walking around having a nice time. Allie, do your thighs chafe? Sometimes, yeah, especially when it's really hot. And what do you do to combat that? Uh, tough it out.
Starting point is 00:38:10 Mm. But I know girls that have put deodorant, that's like a good trick. I wonder if deodorant will work. Because I also have this thing, it's called Mega Babe, and it's like you put it between your thighs, and it works for like 15 minutes. And then I have to reapply. And then I'm like, but if I'm out in public, I got to squat and be in between my legs. I don't know. We were out in public and you put like Ben Gay on.
Starting point is 00:38:37 your knee at a restaurant. It was like minty fresh throughout the section. Yeah, that's really funny. I did do that. I put way too much on. Then I was like, oh, no, it stinks in here. And then I went to wash my hands, but the stench followed me everywhere I went. Everyone knew it was me.
Starting point is 00:39:00 Everyone was like, that old bitch. Oh, no. Remember when my knee was hurting so bad all the time? Yeah. I just have to do one stretch. Amazing. That's it. That's great.
Starting point is 00:39:10 And I haven't had knee pain since. Whoa. Isn't that annoying? Yeah. I was like going to go to physical therapy and stuff. Yeah. But it's literally just one stretch. Amazing, though.
Starting point is 00:39:22 What is the stretch? I just have to put my foot against the, like my toes against the wall and then straight in my leg and lean forward. Great. And I can also do it in bed by like taking that foot and then flexing it. And then the nice man sometimes will just do it for me. Nice. I was in the airport and I was like, oh, God, limping to the gate. Start wearing a knee race to the airport.
Starting point is 00:39:45 Yeah. One fucking stretch, dude. Thank God. Body suck. I know. It's really annoying. And then, like, nobody tells you, like, you need to be stretching and stuff. I don't know if nobody tells you.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Nobody be telling you you need to be stretching and stuff. I feel like I get lots of messaging. I had to discover it all on my own. I think doctors even say it. Like, nobody's telling anybody anything. No, I guess they are, but they're not like, they're not going, do you want to be in pain forever? Yeah. Or maybe it's like, I'm like, nothing bad will happen to me.
Starting point is 00:40:21 So like I don't think about it. I don't know. I feel like nobody said stretching was as important as it is. You, I guess you heard different. Yeah. Okay. But I guess also I can. see the benefits of stretching. So I'm like, yes, of course it's important.
Starting point is 00:40:41 You're also rather limber. You're really good at squatting. Yeah, I like squatting. Like, oh. Just looking like a little spider sometimes. Yeah, just like a deep, like sumo squat. I've always been able to do it. And then I didn't realize some people can't do it at all. Some people can't touch their toes. I know. Can you touch your toes? Mm-hmm. See?
Starting point is 00:41:13 But yeah, I definitely, I don't know. I don't know, maybe when I was a child, but I don't know if I've ever been able to do the splits, like, for real. That's flexibility that escapes me. I can do the splits. I did one the other day, and I was like, huh, this is further than I thought I was going to be. Because it's one of those things you have to keep doing them to keep them.
Starting point is 00:41:37 It's so, bodies are weird. Yeah. Like, why does my body tighten up and then I can't sometimes do something? I know. It's like, you used to be able to do it. Why not now? Yeah. And then my shoulder, there's a move and pull called a ballerina, I think.
Starting point is 00:41:51 But it takes like a little bit of flexibility in your shoulder. I have to just stretch it like that for like a minute or two and then I can do it. But if I don't do that stretch, I then can't do it. It's so nuts. It's nuts. We've got to take another break. My goodness. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Hi, I'm Beck Bennett. I thought I was Beck Bennett. No, no, no, no. I'm Kyle Mooney. Sorry about that. Exactly. No, all good, all good. Thanks, buddy.

I learned a new thing in pole. Where you go upside down, you do an outside leg hang, which is the leg further from the pole when you're upside down, and then you straighten your leg into a split. Dios, me, it was hard. It looks hard. You sent the video, and I was like, this is hurting my thighs just looking at this. My God.
Starting point is 00:44:17 It hurts so bad. And then I did it again by myself yesterday. With nobody there to spot me, it's even harder. I would imagine, yeah. My God. And I'm trying to learn this trick where you're in a handstand, and then you kick up one leg, and then you hook the other leg, and then you, like, pull yourself up. Oh, yeah, you sent that video, and I was like, I,
Starting point is 00:44:43 I don't understand the mechanics of this. I don't understand the mechanics either. I've watched it a thousand times. I've tried it several times. And I'm like, I can get upside down and I don't know what happens next. Yeah. It's so weird.
Starting point is 00:44:59 I hope not. It didn't seem like it was AI, but I was like, this looks impossible. Here's what I need from big AI. I just need an AI in the corner. Yes, please. Like a watermark that says it's AI. I know.
Starting point is 00:45:17 And then I can choose whether or not I share it with people because I know. Yeah, it can still be funny. Yes. But I just want to know. But just let me know. Is it real or not? Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:30 I don't like it and got. I don't like it and got either. It makes me feel foolish. I got got recently. So Shiri, you've started a ripple effect. I got freaking fished. I got freaking fish From a stupid
Starting point is 00:45:46 I got freaking fish Frickin fish From a fishing scam Because I got emailed A party invite Email And I was so excited I was like
Starting point is 00:46:01 I want to go to a party And I clicked it And it was like Type your email in Which no party was like I've never done that before I was like Here you go
Starting point is 00:46:10 Send me that those details. And then I got nothing. And I was like, weird. Stop thinking about it. Hours later, I'm getting text from people being like, hey, did you get scammed? I got this email from you. What is it?
Starting point is 00:46:24 And I was like, no. And I couldn't make a stop. I just like sent out to my contacts. But I don't even know what contact, how it picked which contacts to email and which ones not to. It was so rude. I didn't get an email. You didn't.
Starting point is 00:46:39 And the invite was like, I want you. at the party or something like that. It wouldn't be the same without you. And I was like, you didn't want me there? I was so mad, like, irrationally mad that I didn't get this scam email. It didn't make sense why you didn't get it.
Starting point is 00:46:54 I just wanted to be invited, you know? Because people got it who, like, I currently communicate with via email, and then also people from, like, way in the past, from, like, 2009. And I, like, people would email back and be like, hey, this is probably not real, but is it? And for some people, I mean, also I couldn't respond for 24 hours because I had maxed out the outbox capacity, I guess.
Starting point is 00:47:27 You can only send so many a day? Really? I guess. But I sent, it sent a lot. And so I couldn't respond to these people and be like, don't click it, save yourself! And then finally when I was able to respond, I'd be like, no, it's a scam, it's a scam, it's a scam. But some people, it was like, hey, I was on this random improv group with you in 2010 for two months. Did you invite me to something?
Starting point is 00:47:54 Really want me to be there? And I'm like, come on, man. No. I have no idea where you are in the world. No, I did not invite you to something. But I will say, it is, I finally got one. Oh. Because I think your patient zero. And it infiltrated our circle.
Starting point is 00:48:10 Yeah. And I finally got one from someone I hadn't thought about in such a long time. And I, like, went to click on it and I went, that's how they get you. I was like, that person did not invite me to a party. Yeah. It will be the same without me because I'm not clicking. And it doesn't exist. But scams are so scary and tough.
Starting point is 00:48:30 I know. I was sitting with my old assistant. We were doing something. and I got a phone call that said Wells Fargo, and I answered it. You remember this, right? And I was like, hello? And they were like, so there's fraud activity happening on your account.
Starting point is 00:48:45 And I was like, oh, no. Oh, no. And he was like, what we need you to do is like log in and give me the code from when you log in. And I was like, okay. And then I looked at my old assistant. This is not Lindsay. This is another person.
Starting point is 00:49:02 And I said, do you think this is a scam? And she was like, I kind of sound scummy because I put them on speaker at this point. And she's like, but maybe not? And I was like, huh, okay, maybe not. So then... She was in on it.
Starting point is 00:49:18 I mean, probably. Because she liked taking things that weren't hers. So then I said, okay, and then I did it. And then this man on the phone was like, we're watching the money. Get back into your account. $100, $200. I was like, this isn't real?
Starting point is 00:49:38 That's crazy. And he was like, yes, it is. I was like, no, it's not. Oh, my God. And then I called the number back, and a woman answered. And I was like, hi, I was just talking to so-and-so. And she was like, oh, I don't know anyone by that name. I was like, I think y'all just scam me.
Starting point is 00:49:57 And then she laughed. So then I was like, oh, let me call Wells Fargo. So I called Wells Fargo. And they were like, yeah, don't do that again. We will never call you and ask for codes. Yeah. If you call us, we might. ask you for a code because we're doing something for you, but I'm not, nobody's going to call you.
Starting point is 00:50:15 And I was like, okay. Oh, my gosh. But when that man was like, money's leaving the account, 100, 200. Wait, it's rising. It's rising. It's rising. I was like, oh, no, I got got. It's so hard to not get got.
Starting point is 00:50:33 It's hard to not get got. Because I'm not walking around the world being like, I'm going to scam people or thinking people are out to scam me. Same. Oh, Lord. I know. And we're just going to get older and more. It's going to get harder for us.
Starting point is 00:50:47 I don't like that. This game's just going to get better. Yes, because I feel like if you said to somebody younger, like someone from Wells Fargo called me and they were like, dude, they'd be like, that's dumb. Yeah. Like how people think they're in a relationship with Brad Pitt and Brad Pitt's like, I need money.
Starting point is 00:51:05 It's like, why are you sending Brad Pitt money? Or like, I'm in a relationship with Katie Perry. send her $30,000 a month. Like, what? But yeah, the scams we're going to fall for are going to be stupid. Yeah, they are. I hate it. I hate it, too.
Starting point is 00:51:24 I guess just never answer the phone? Never answer the phone. Should we do questions and queries? Let's do questions and queries. Yeah. Hi, Nicole and Sashir. One of my husband and I's couple friends just... I was like, I thought she said, you say, one of my husbands.
Starting point is 00:51:40 Well, you know, there's people out there. It's true. I was like, I can't wait to hear this. One of my husband and I's couple friends just told us they're separating due to infidelity. They've been our closest to tried and true friends in the new city we live in where, frankly, we don't have many friends yet. The half of the couple who cheated was one of my husband's groomsmen last year, and they share several hobbies together. So he's taking it especially hard. Do you have any advice for handling friendship through divorce and how to support both the friend who was cheated on as well as the.
Starting point is 00:52:11 a friend who blew up his life, is picking aside inevitable. Thank you for the advice and for being a constant source of joy to both me and my mom who's an avid listener. Oh. Hello, mommy. Hello, mommy. This is tough. Because I do think there's a world where, like, you maintain your friendship with this man who cheated on this other person. But then, if you're still friends with the other person, that person, that person,
Starting point is 00:52:41 might actually be upset. It's like, how could you hang out with this person who hurt me so much? Yeah. But that has nothing to do with you. It's true. It's their relationship. But also, it's like, morally, do you want to be friends with a cheater? Yeah. I think it's, I think it depends on, like, how bad the relationship ends. Yeah. Like, if they're like, well, that fucking sucked, like, our relationship blew up, but we're going to be adults about it.
Starting point is 00:53:10 And, you know, I wish you will have a good life, but, you know. But it's not like we're enemies. Mm-hmm. Then I think it's possible to still maintain relationships because shit happens. Like, sometimes relationships fail. They tried. Didn't work out. Sometimes you can blame somebody.
Starting point is 00:53:27 Sometimes you can't. But I think if that person is like, honestly, it's if they are awful in the relationship and they continue to be awful. It's really tough to still be their friend because it's like, oh, wait, maybe you're just a shitty person. You're just terrible. Yeah. But if it's like, oh, they just made them, not just,
Starting point is 00:53:48 but like they made mistakes in their romantic relationship and that's unfortunate. But. And hopefully they realize that they did bad. Uh-huh. I think if husband keeps hanging out with friend who did the cheating, I think wife, if she's friends,
Starting point is 00:54:08 with the woman, I assume it was a woman who was cheated on, I think she should have a conversation with them to be like, so my husband's going to still hang out with Tom or whatever, is that okay with you? Yeah. Do you have any big feelings about that? I think that's the kindest thing to do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:26 And then if they're being adults about it and they're fine or whatever, you know, carry on. But if she, like, does have a problem with it, then I think it's more of a choice. It's like, then what do you... But then also, I don't know. Yeah. It's just like, how good are friends are you with the person who was cheated on?
Starting point is 00:54:44 Mm-hmm. And is, like, your allegiance to them. I mean, it sounds like they were just, like, couple friends. So, like, they were friends with that couple. Yeah. So I guess it is, like, maybe equal or maybe not. Yeah. Or maybe, like, the wives hung out and the husband's hung out, probably.
Starting point is 00:55:03 But yeah, I guess if it's, like, couple friends, then it's, to me, it's not. that big of a deal if you're not friends individually. Does that make sense? Are you saying stop talking to both of them? No, I'm saying don't make friends with them anymore. Yeah, they're a couple friends. They're not a couple anymore. So they're not friends. They're just a couple of strangers. No, I think it's like you made friends as a couple so it's not that big of a deal. Like it's not like you were in like in a friend group or something. Yeah. I think. I don't know. Cheating sucks. Cheating sucks.
Starting point is 00:55:40 But I like what you said about the transparency of being like, hey, we might, we probably we would like to keep hanging out with your ex. Do you have feelings about that? Because then at least you can have the conversation and that person can think about it. And maybe they'll be like, yes, I do have a problem with it and think about it and be like, actually, whatever. Like, why do I care? I'm not involved.
Starting point is 00:56:06 Yeah. And so it's just clear and you don't feel like you're sneaking around and not saying something. I think that's smart. Because I've definitely had friends who have broken up and I was friends with both those people and been like, just so you know, I'm still hanging out with your ex. But also I still love you. Yeah. But I've also had friends who have broken up because of infidelity and it messed up the whole friend group. So it just depends.
Starting point is 00:56:35 Yeah. I had a friend break up with their partner. I was better friends with my friend. And then I had a party, and their former partner was like, hey, do you mind if I come? And I was like, I mean, I'm not the person to ask. I think you should ask your ex. And I was like, I'll let him know that you want to come.
Starting point is 00:56:59 But if he says, no, I'm going to ultimately say you can't come. And I felt like a bitch, but I was like, I don't know why you're putting me in the middle of this. Yeah, it's kind of weird. Like, you... Y'all should be talking. Yeah, you know he's coming, so like, just talk to him. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:57:15 Yeah, things get a little messy. I don't know if we helped. I don't know. I don't know. I mean, but... I think it's just have a conversation. Yeah. Be open, be creative.
Starting point is 00:57:23 Don't feel like you have to keep secrets. Just say, this is what I would like, and how do you feel? Yeah. Solved. Hi, Nicole and Sashir. I was wondering if you had any advice on going to a former co-worker's wedding? I recently started a new job, and while my friend group consists of people who still work at my previous place of employment, like my friend who's getting
Starting point is 00:57:45 married, the other people I keep in touch with were not invited to the wedding. The couple wanted to keep it small, and I totally get that, but I'm nervous about going and not having anyone there that I talk to regularly. While there will be people who I have worked with before, a bunch of people that left the company a few years back, I didn't keep in touch with them. I'm appreciative that my former coworker invited me and I'm so happy for her and her fiancé, but I was never close with the group of former co-workers that she did invite. Unfortunately, I didn't get a plus one so I can't bring one of my sisters to have a comfort person there. This is also the first wedding I have been invited to in my adult life. I get anxious and social situations and I'm scared that if I don't have anyone there
Starting point is 00:58:24 for support, I will panic. Do I psych myself up and go or should I skip it altogether? Any advice is greatly appreciated. P.S. My mom and I are so excited to see that. the pod live in November. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. Hmm. Don't skip it. Go. I want to say go. Yeah. I mean, I guess there's no stakes if you don't go because you're not close to this person anyway. But also, I think what a fun adventure to be like, I don't know. I don't know how many people here. Let's see what happens. Yeah. Maybe you can do like practice runs. Go to a bar alone. Go to a coffee shop alone. And I know those places you can have like a book or like play on your phone. But, like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:59:05 Maybe for like 15 minutes before you do that, you just kind of like sit with yourself and look around, like, sit near a window maybe. And just like get used to the idea of being in public alone. Mm-hmm. But yeah, I think your first wedding in your adult life, I think you got to go. I think so. And it's fun to get dressed up. Yes. And you get fed.
Starting point is 00:59:27 You do get fed. And, well, no plus ones. I don't know if there's going to be an open bar. That's a good point, yeah. I think it's crazy to not give a plus one. I do do. At a wedding. I think it's actually wild.
Starting point is 00:59:41 Yeah, it's a little rude. But I guess I don't know the situation. You know, like, I guess I was trying to save money. But, like, well, also, I guess I would kind of want to put a caveat on the, like, if your plus one's, like, your sister, your partner. Sure. But I've also heard of people bringing plus ones of, like, we've been dating for three weeks. I'm like, no, do not bring that person to the wedding. That's really funny.
Starting point is 01:00:09 I met them yesterday. They cannot come. Well, I don't know. Whoever makes you comfortable. Yeah, I guess. Because if you don't give a plus one, you're asking someone to come to a social event alone. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:25 Where, like, maybe they don't know people. Because seems like this person's not close to any of their old co-workers. That person they started dating three weeks ago, they are closer to that person. That is true. But it is wild when people, I've been to a wedding where I'm like, huh, you found the most unruly person to bring to this. Yeah. And none of us know them, and this is weird.
Starting point is 01:00:48 That is weird. But yeah, I think you got to go. And also, you can always leave. Yes. If you're like, I've had enough of this, you can always get the hell out of there. Yeah. Get the hell out of Dodge. Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:03 It's the same. Why, though? What's Dodge and why would we have to leave? The car? I think it predates the car. Yeah. Oh, are you dodging something? Oh, get the hell out of Dodge.
Starting point is 01:01:16 The idiom originated from Dodge City, Kansas, a notoriously lawless boomtown during the 1870s Wild West. Whoa. Wow. We do got to get the hell out of Dodge. It's dangerous. I know. Solved. Solved.
Starting point is 01:01:32 I miss the company, Dodge. It doesn't exist? No. Yeah. Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler. I believe Chrysler is the only one left. Yeah. RIP.
Starting point is 01:01:48 Yeah. One more. Hey there. Love the podcast. You all make me laugh so much on the way to work. And if we have a road trip planned, I save new episodes for that. I have a friendship question. For background, I'm a 30,
Starting point is 01:02:02 six-year-old married gay man. My husband is 34. We've been together for 17 years and married for five and a half years. We have an open-ish relationship, meaning we only do stuff together unless talked about before and we keep things completely open and honest. My situation is, we met this other couple a little over five years ago and have remained close friends with them. They live about four hours from us. We stay at their place when we visit, celebrate birthdays together, we've said love you, and even flew across the country to visit them when they moved for a brief year, then they moved back. The problem is, I think I have a stronger connection with them than they do with us. I'm always reaching out. I'm always trying to make plans, etc. They're in their early 40s and have
Starting point is 01:02:44 lots of friends, both gay and straight, and are way better off financially than we are. I get jealous when I see they have parties we can't attend, and I know other gays will be because they get to do stuff with them while we can't because we see them maybe three or four times a year. While my husband and I have a few friends here we play around with, I get jealous that they have others they play with too. Lately, I'll see their posts on social media and I'll like, comment, respond, but they haven't on any of mine. They had a Fourth of July party and I told them that we were bummed we couldn't make it, but glad there was a good turnout. I said they probably needed a break from us since we were there the previous weekend, but they said, we don't need a break from you. Ever since I said that comment, they've been distant. Did I mess up? Am I just overthinking? I'm a Virgo when
Starting point is 01:03:27 I do this all the time. What can I say or do to stop spiraling? I sound crazy as I reread this back, but I can't help how I'm feeling and I need any advice I can get. Thank you so much and sorry this is a long one. Keep being the amazingly talented, beautiful woman that you are, and I hope I can see a stand-up show of you guys at some point.
Starting point is 01:03:46 When this person says play, do you think that means sex or just like hanging out? Okay. Are they playing board games? Are they playing shoots and ladders and candy land? Are they having a twist, party? Is it Red Rover? What? Is it
Starting point is 01:04:03 Red Rover? Yes, it's sex. Got it. Do you think when they say playing, it means Red Rover? Simon says?
Starting point is 01:04:19 Clue? Bop it. Bop it. I think our friend is like a little too neurotic about those. Yeah. I don't know how to say this nicely,
Starting point is 01:04:34 but they aren't thinking of you as much as you're thinking of them because you're not in like a committed thruple, you're not a polychule or whatever. You just play with these people randomly. And I think you said that everyone you play with has others that they play with, and it seems like you're getting stuck. You know how like you're dating a guy, but he's dating around and you're like,
Starting point is 01:04:59 but I only want to date him. Yeah. It's like, but he doesn't want to just date you. Yeah. None of these people that you're talking about just want to date you. Yeah. They're playing with everybody else. So it's like maybe you get more playmates.
Starting point is 01:05:11 So you're not just stuck on these like couple of people that you hook up with. Yeah. And they probably are responding to your text a normal amount. Yeah. But because you like them so much, you're reading into their, like, the time in between the responses as, like, maybe they don't want to talk to you or, like, they're tired of you when it's probably none of the above. Yeah. They're not thinking of you.
Starting point is 01:05:42 Yeah. Until they want to. Yes, until they want to. Yeah. And a text that's like, you probably need a break from us. That's fishing for something. Yeah. Because it's like, well, why would you say that?
Starting point is 01:05:53 Yeah. They're like, no, we just saw you. Yeah. We will see you again. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And you're four hours away?
Starting point is 01:06:00 I don't think I would think of those, anyone who's four hours from me as like a regular hangout friend. You'll like, that's like, we had to make plans for that. You have to come here or we go there. Like that's a scheduled planned thing as opposed to like, hey, it's 7 p. on Wednesday. I'm dropping by. Yeah, come by. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:21 Yeah. Yeah, I think it also sounds like. This person might not know the difference between like casual friendships and like a deep friendship. Like I have lots of casual friends that I see every now and again. Yeah. And it's always nice when I see them. Yeah. But like I see them gone until like one of us texts.
Starting point is 01:06:43 And then I'm like, oh yeah, that person. I got to hang out with them. Yeah. But then like my deep, deep friend. My deep friends. Deep friends. I'm thinking about them before nighttime. Before sunrise.
Starting point is 01:06:54 for I put shoes on Those three times And that happens every day Did you know what I mean? Yeah Like my friends who I can drop in on at like 7 p.m. are different than my friends I see every couple months. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:10 Yeah. So I think to these people, you are a casual friend slash playmate. I feel out of my depth. I don't understand. Playmate. Playmate. Playtime, buddy. School. School friends. School friends. Hook up buddy. So funny. Like, you've had sex. Yeah, but not like that. Yeah. Certainly I have. Yeah. Who told you stuff? Yeah, I know what a dick feels like. Like a hard paper plate. Ew.
Starting point is 01:08:01 Yeah, I'm always like, I'm always starting to fire in the pants. Me, sure thing. It's really funny. I'm sorry, what were you trying to say? Be a playmate. A casual friend slash hookup buddy. So, well, that's it for this episode.

I always forget about Best Friends Tour season. It's the most wonderful time of the year. And it starts on October 7th at the Aladdin Theater in Portland, Oregon.
Starting point is 01:09:25 And then you have to have the traditional October 8th show at the Neptune Theater in Seattle, Washington. And then everyone gathers around Cobb's Comedy Club in San Francisco for a show on October 9th. One of my favorite parts of Best Friends Tour season is the November 3rd show at Talia Hall of Chicago. I broke a toilet fair. I love the November 4th show at the Wilbur and Boston. Oh, that's a really good part. Oh, what about the November 6th show at City Winery in Philadelphia? Love that. And of course, there's the November 7th show at the Howard Theater in D.C. And as we all know, the season ends on November 8th at the Gramercy Theater in New York. Oh, it really is. Oh, it really is the most magical time of the year.
