All right, welcome back to Blue by 90. I'm Justin joined by Jack and Kalen as always and we've got the man, the myth, the legend Don Thomas with us today. Don, how you doing my man?
I can't complain. I'm back with y'all. I think it's our third year doing this so I'm just excited to be able to, you know, kick it with y'all another time. Jack, Kalen, Justin, I'm back. You're a guest.
I guess so.
You're a guest for sure.
Now, you've got a podcast divided coming back with a new partner this year,
correct?
Yeah, Jack Williams.
Connor Muldowney abandoned me.
No, he didn't abandon me.
He's on to bigger and better things, and Michigan State fans are like,
he's actually doing a podcast with Eric Snow this fall.
It's sort of like a must-you thing.
And Michigan State fans are like, you upgraded your podcast, partner.
I'm like, yeah, I agree.
He did.
So, yeah, he's doing his thing.
And I'm happy to have Jack Williams, another perspective, young guy,
another different audience and such.
So I'm just excited to see what's all going to go down this fall.
I've got some really great guests in mind, and we'll see what happens.
Nice.
There you go.
All right.
Love to see it.
Yeah, we'll be listening, that's for sure.
So, yeah, I mean, we're here.
It's August 23rd.
We're getting on it. We're less than, what, 10 days out from the first game or close to it, right?
That's crazy. Yeah, I think so.
I mean, it's come up on us so quickly, but Don, after the offseason, you know, probably the greatest Michigan season in the last almost two decades, right?
How are you feeling going into this new season here?
Optimistic.
We're optimistic on this team and what they can accomplish.
You lose Hutchinson, you lose David Lojabo, you lose Jackson Hill.
Vincent Gray played solid football for Michigan last year.
Hassan Haskins, I mean, he was worth his weight in gold last year for our team.
So you lose some key guys, but also you've got key guys that played a lot last year.
Blake Corham, I think Donovan Edwards is ready to take that next step.
You've got guys like Jalen Harrell, TJ Guy, Mike Morris.
You've got, of course, Mazi Smith, he's back.
You've got guys that have played a lot of football for Michigan
that may have kind of been in the shadows,
and I think they're ready to break out.
So I'm excited.
And then the schedule, of course, no schedule is easy when you play in the Big Ten,
but it is certainly a favorable one, all things considered.
And the opportunity is out there for Michigan to repeat,
so I'm thrilled, honestly.
How did you possibly just name the entire roster
and not say Cade McNamara?
Well, there are more people on the team say Cade McNamara. Well, there are more people on the team
than Cade McNamara.
This is JJ. JJ McCarthy.
He's on the team too.
Who's that?
I'm just messing with you, man.
Just messing with you.
But no, I mean, I agree with you
that
Cade and JJ
and a lot of these other guys that you named there coming back,
it definitely makes for an optimistic Michigan fan.
Now, I'll be honest, I'm trying to, like, hold back my optimism.
I'm trying to – because, like, I don't know.
Last year I went into 2021 with almost zero expectations,
and, like, it worked out well.
You know, I don't want to have high expectations.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, I think that's certainly important.
I – last year around this time I actually picked Michigan to go 11-2
and go to New York City to Baltimore because I really believe Michigan was poised to have a breakout season
and I thought 2020 was an aberration.
And I actually ended up being wrong.
We went 12-2 and 12-2.
So it's okay.
So I'll just tell Michigan fans out there who are kind of like,
I don't want to – I enjoyed last year.
Last year was so much fun.
I don't want to get my heart broken.
It's okay.
I really believe that it's okay to reasonably expect Michigan to continue
in and year out and to not be in a place where it's, oh, whatever.
It's okay if they go eight and four or seven and five.
I think it's okay to reasonably expect Michigan
to be in contention for the Big Ten Championship
for the college football playoff.
And I think at minimum, another New Year's Six Bowl game,
they're at the minimum.
So I think it's okay to dream.
It's okay to desire that.
It's okay to look forward to that
because I think the Michigan team is that kind of team now jack as the the
positive vibes only guy on uh this podcast how are you handling um you know trying to stay
realistic but be optimistic as well i mean i'm always going to be optimistic. I think it helps that last year Michigan was very successful,
so my optimism is realistic this year.
Does that make sense?
Yeah.
So you're saying if your outlook is like 11-2 or something.
Yeah.
Then it's pretty standard this year.
Then I'm good.
Yeah, it's true.
You definitely are not crazy. Don, to be honest like when you said 11 and 2 or whatever like people were for sure
calling you crazy oh no and then oh but the receipts that i pulled that that pinstaking
what about now how about now you know so it's just it's it's because it wasn't just you know
me just blowing smoke it was actual just looking at what we had and looking at the units
and just if things – and I just saw the way that –
what people also didn't realize is back in 2020, we didn't have spring ball.
We didn't have spring ball.
We didn't have summer workouts.
We didn't have fall camp.
And we basically literally just went into big –
we went from a couple weeks of practice and straight into Big Ten season.
And for a team that replaced as many starters as they replaced, you know,
it's going to be helter-skelter, which it was.
And so I knew that having a full offseason
and having a quarterback that had some experience
and then having a talented guy like J.J. coming in,
I really believed that was going to be a great catalyst to this team.
And then I said if the defense can go from bad to decent, then we have a great shot.
And they went from bad to very, very good.
So it's – and I think that that same attitude, that same mindset is there.
And you've got leaders such as Blake Corum, such as Mazi Smith, such as DJ Turner, such as Cade McNamara,
that can be able to carry what was what was their last year and their work last year into this year.
That was just like a total like turnaround, though.
Yeah. Between 2020 and 2021.
So, I mean, to say like, oh, yeah, they went, what, 2020 and 2021. So, I mean to say like,
Oh yeah,
they went what?
Two,
two and four,
two and four to 11 and two.
I don't think you can fault anybody for going like,
yeah,
that's just crazy talk.
But I mean,
at the end of the day,
like you said,
you got the receipts,
you can cash them in.
So,
Oh yeah.
I hope I get to cash in a few more receipts. You can cash them in. Oh, yeah. Kudos to you.
I hope I get to cash in a few more receipts in a couple weeks,
but we'll see how that goes. What receipts are those?
Nice place called Deja Vu.
Expenses?
Or just like you're just filling out an expense report at work?
Something like that.
Yeah, I mean, I got expenses.
I got to work.
Thank you for reminding me of that.
But yeah,
just some other stuff about who ain't going to play this year and,
and who is,
and that kind of stuff.
I'm excited.
And I hope we'll have some receipts for that too.
Any bets going on with anybody on who's going to be QB one?
Oh,
good question.
No,
I'm not a betting man.
Cause anything could happen.
Anything could happen. Yeah.
Maybe Cade will win it.
It could happen.
I gotta go let my dog out.
I'll be back in five minutes.
That's all you guys do on that one.
Five minutes?
Heather's gonna kill me if I don't let the dog out.
So I'm gonna go let him out real quick.
Take two seconds.
You've got a fenced-in backyard.
You can just let him out.
We've got a ghost runner've got a fenced in backyard you can just let him out it's just we got we got a ghost runner on second oh my gosh this this guy takes like two and a half hours to mow his lawn as well it takes 10 minutes to let his dog out unbelievable um all right so
let's uh let's talk about what's the – I mean, all right.
Obviously the quarterback position is the most intriguing battle, right,
position battle currently.
What would you guys say is the second most intriguing position battle?
I mean, you ain't got to go far as to the running back.
You know, who's going to get – I mean, of course,
Donovan and Blake are going to play.
So it's not a matter of – it's not a matter of, you know,
who's going to play and who's not.
It's going to be – both are going to play.
Who's going to take over as the lead back?
Who's going to be that guy?
And then, of course, my honorable mention is cornerback. you everyone know dj turner's got cb1 locked up um but the battle between jimine green and will johnson who
i heard is having a really really great camp is going to you know who's going to play well you
know so if someone gets burned like toast you know that could be your job so i think those are the
two other other
position battles that i'm looking at right now and another position group that's worth mentioning in
terms of battling is definitely why receivers right i mean there's so many guys and then try
to name five of them if you name your top five you're you're leaving somebody out i promise
and then there's guys coming out the woodwork, like Peyton O'Leary, right?
You're like, who's this guy?
And all of a sudden he's all over the, you know,
Ronnie Bell's talking about him,
and I saw like a piece of art with him on Instagram.
I was like, what is going on?
So there's so much talent at that position.
I'm like, like you said, I have no idea who's starting five at this point.
And the best thing with wide receivers, you can platoon, you know,
especially if we're going to run the ball.
I mean, anybody that has delusions of grins
or that we're going to throw the ball 50 times a game,
whether it's Cater, whether it's JJ, whether it's Davis Warren,
you're lying to yourself.
Jim Allen Bowman, I forgot.
Yes, thank you for lying to me.
Alex Orji.
Alex Orji.
Jaden Dilligal, yes.
All of them.
And then whatever walk-ons, we love you, but I have a name.
And the thing is, we're going to run the ball.
We're going to run the ball.
We're going to eat.
We're 8 o'clock.
That's Harbaugh.
That's the way Jim Harbaugh plays. And he got back to his identity and won his championship last year so you can't
deny that so and so the really i think the distinguishing factor with these receivers
is going to be who who's blocking you know so if you don't block you don't play so and so you use
energy when you block when you're trying to you know seal guys off and or you're running deep
brows and such so it's so to have them depth at receiver is going to enable guys.
You can platoon a brand-new unit in there, keep guys fresh.
And so we can just kind of keep just running at them
and just coming at you and at you and at you.
So I think, Kalen, that's a wonderful –
that's a great observation there as well.
I wonder, too, like, honestly,
when you're going against some of these secondaries,
do you run, you know, three wide receivers out there
and then have them do go routes and then get a new three in there?
Yeah.
You know, honestly, you could outrun a team on some of these,
you know, with the depth that we have at the wide receiver position.
Yeah.
And you can run those go routes and really run a draw.
Basically, you're taking the corners and the defensive backs away from the play.
You can run a draw play.
For Blake Corham, when you're in a quarterback draw, you can do a reverse.
I mean, he can do a lot of things.
I mean, I'm not a – I was a defensive guy.
I was a defensive player in high school, so that's kind of my thing.
But offensively, I mean, there's so many things you can do
having that kind of depth.
Absolutely.
I think the running back position that you mentioned right away too
is very interesting because I think that there are a lot of people out there
that just assume that Blake Corum is going to be RB1
the whole time but I I'm pretty sure that Donovan Edwards is making a push for that and you know
they talked about it too of what like last year it was thunder and lightning and now it's just
lightning and more lightning um you know so I I think that you know they're both going to be
utilized in very similar roles and get you know I don't know if it's going to be equal playing time,
but it's going to be closer than I think most people think.
And then how does A.J. Henning fit into that as well?
There's so many skilled position players.
I'm like, I don't even know what to do with these guys.
Also, we can't forget another kid that's going to factor in the morning game this year. Actually, two guys.
Two freshmen. One, CJ Stokes.
I think he's going to get some
carries this year. Also, Alex
Orji.
I told you I heard that somewhere.
I told you I heard that somewhere.
Wow.
You didn't hear it here.
Donnie T. I didn't say nothing.
I love that, though, honestly.
He's a load.
That dude's going to be hard to take down.
No, I mean, I think that, like, if we're being dead serious for a second here,
do we want to be serious?
Of course.
All right.
I think that here's my take on the QB situation.
It's making Michigan better as a whole it it really is because i think that everyone sees the top two dogs of the team if you want
to call them or the two most important players or whatever you want to say um they're competing
against each other day in and day out and i do think it pushes everyone else to be the better uh best
person of themselves best version of themselves as well in all seriousness in all seriousness yes i
agree but don i gotta ask you man the cade stuff you you get so much shit on twitter just for your
support of cade mcnamara just and i'm not saying it's wrong. I'm not saying it's right.
I'm not saying anything.
But where does the love for Cade come from?
Honestly, that's what we're supposed to do.
We're supposed to support our athletes and support.
In one thing, yeah.
And the quarterback was John Eubankin.
His name's John Eubankin because that's my boy.
You know, he said the toughest job in the state of Michigan
is throwing quarterback for Michigan.
And the thing is, quarterbacks at Michigan,
really as long as I can remember, have gotten very little to no love
and they're underappreciated.
And I think it's important for us to not get in
this mindset as michigan fans that the grass is greener on the other side because you never know
like kate you know you can say what he did what he didn't do but kate kate took those snaps he led
the team he commanded the team and he led michigan as a quarterback to be in the Ohio State Big Ten Championship
in the playoff, which is basically our best season since the 97 season
when I was in fourth grade.
And he was able to commandeer the team to do that.
And I think we should appreciate that because, y'all,
there's so much more that goes into playing the quarterback position than
passing yards and touchdowns and interceptions.
There's so much more that goes into it.
And if you judge.
Those are pretty big parts of it.
Those are important components.
Correct.
Correct.
But it's important that you got to get so well.
Can't only have 15 touchdown passes last year,
but we set a school record for rushing touchdowns and we hit the second most
explosive plays in the country last year behind Ohio state.
So we still got our explosive plays.
It just wasn't as aesthetically pleasing the eye because of the new wave of
college football now, because you got teams throwing 40,
50 times a game and that that's never been Michigan.
Michigan's touchdown passing record is 25.
I think either Navar or Henney said that.
So it's not something that's never been Michigan's identity.
It's always been the run, and you basically pass off the run.
And so really my main shtick is just let's support the guy who's in there right now,
instead of pining for someone who's not in there right now.
That's what I, that's all I'm saying. Let's support the guy.
And, and, and my, and the, what,
where I come from with just that is just reminding people, Hey, yo,
this is what he did. This is what he accomplished.
And if he continues to keep the job
We're not in bad shape
And it's not a knock on the coaching staff
It's not a knock on J.J. McCarthy
It's not a knock on anybody
And also, I mean, another thing as well
I think about J.J. as much as I think about K
To be honest with you
Because here's the thing, y'all
Everyone's like, oh, we have a five-star quarterback
We just had a five-star quarterback.
His name was Shea Patterson.
And when Shea was coming to Michigan, y'all remember back in 2018,
everyone's like, oh, we're going to win the Big Ten,
do Ohio State win the national championship.
And none of those things happened.
Even though Shea didn't play on a Heisman level
at Michigan, but Shea played
well for Michigan.
And fans think he's, and a lot of fans
can perception of him is that he sucked.
Which is the furthest thing from the truth.
And he was good. And that's what I'm saying
about J.J. Because the way fans are pumping
up J.J., oh, J.J.'s gonna be
this, he's gonna be number one overall pick, he's gonna
take us to the national championship.
Here's the thing.
Let JJ be what JJ was meant to be.
Let him be as great as he was meant to be.
Let him be as good as he was meant to be.
If JJ comes in, he averages, you know, 26, 27 touchdowns a game.
It would be a record.
And 11 interceptions.
And we go 10-2 and we just fall short of the Big Ten championship,
or we lose.
Like, whatever happens, let's appreciate whatever they give us
instead of putting almost impossible expectations on us.
He's not Trevor Lawrence.
He's not Tim Tebow.
He's not James Winston.
He's not Sean Watson.
I don't think it's fair to say that.
He's not.
But he's not, because you don't know that. No, that's what I'm Washington. I don't think it's fair to say that. He's not the one.
Because you don't know that.
No, that's what I'm saying.
We don't know.
That's exactly what I'm saying.
Let him be the best version of J.J. McCarthy that he was meant to be in the time that he was meant to be in.
That's all I'm saying.
So I guess the question that I have then is, you know,
in response to the people on Twitter that are talking to you about this,
you know, what if his time is right now?
I don't know this.
I have no idea.
But what will your attitude be, you know,
down the line into the season if, let's say,
he takes over at some point as well?
Then I'm all in for J.J. McCarthy.
He's our guy.
And also I'm going to be doggedly defensive of him as I am of anyone else.
If he has a – let's just say he has a game where he's not stellar
and let's say we barely – let's say he plays against Nebraska,
he starts and we beat them by three and he doesn't play his best game.
Here's the thing.
The same energy y'all use to pump him up and create all these crazy fan accounts
and say he's the greatest thing coming and how much you love him
and you buy all this stuff, the same crap that you did
when you thought he was going to be the greatest thing in the world,
when he's down, I want you to have the same support for him when he's down.
I've got to've got a question in that scenario are you like see i told you guys cage no no i mean i'm talking about from a standpoint of you know k goes in does it what he's supposed to do
but but from a standpoint of that that doesn't serve any purpose.
Of course, in my heart of hearts, I'd love to get back at, you know,
that talks and behave.
I told you all to chill.
But that doesn't do it for any purpose because he's the guy.
He's out there.
He's Michigan's quarterback.
And if I'm truly a Michigan fan, a Michigan supporter,
I'm going to support the guy who's out there for Michigan.
I may say things differently behind closed doors
and have my own personal opinion.
I may have that.
But from a standpoint of – from a standpoint outside,
I want to make sure that support is out there.
I do need to ask you, too.
Of the interactions, at least recently on Twitter,
do you ever just throw some tweets out there and be like,
what can I stir up today?
No.
Come on.
No.
It's dumb.
Here's what I will say, though.
Here's what I will say.
When I ask something on my mind and I have to say it and I tweet it,
I'm thinking, yeah, this is going to –
I do realize it's going to get –
You know what you're doing sometimes.
I know that it may get some response, but no, it's dumb.
I mean, the tweet – I do –
However, I do that sometimes to Michigan State fans in my tweets.
You know, like –
That's literally what every Michigan account should do.
But no, I realize anything I say about Cade because of, you know,
just because of, you know, me talking about me supporting him,
my relationship with his family.
And like I said, me and Cade, me and Cade aren't best friends.
We're cool.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm a lot closer with his brothers and his dad.
Just from, we met, it's actually funny how I met his family.
It was actually outside of Michigan and just in a random place
and just kind of took off from there.
But, you know, me and Cade are cool.
We're very cordial and such, and he's a really good kid.
So because of that proximity and folks having a desire to see J.J. McCarthy
out there, those things kind of, you know, don't sit well together.
And folks respond in kind.
I mean, hey, it is what it is.
But no, I'm not here to be petty.
I'm here to be educational, informative.
And I realize sometimes when I do that, it's not going to be taken very well, but it is what it is.
I mean, it's definitely, here's the thing.
It's a sensitive subject at the moment for everybody, you know,
and nobody knows what's going to happen in the next 10 days on September 3rd, except for the guys inside of Schembechler and probably not even all of them
know what's going on right now because it's a battle. That's the point of it. So yeah, I think that ultimately it's good for Michigan. And,
you know, I, I think that it's, you know, I think that both guys are mature enough that
whatever, however it plays out, they're going to be, you know, good about it to each other.
You know, obviously i'm sure both of
them would love to be the starter that's that's the point right that's i love that about both of
them um you know and so i think that they're they're mature enough they're big boys they'll
figure it out once we once we get into things here and i'm excited for it all. Like you said, Justin, they're big boys. Who's the bigger boy?
Are you trying to make jokes that I was making earlier?
Was it good?
Yeah, it was really good, man.
Thank you.
I was just trying.
That was very funny.
I'm still laughing, actually.
It was so funny.
Internally.
Internally, yes.
All right. So, Don,ally, yes. All right.
So, Don, tell us more about your pod.
What do we got upcoming for you?
What's coming up here?
Tomorrow we're going to – or Wednesday.
What's the date?
August 24th.
I'm actually going to have Brian Lewerke back.
He's like our – The twerky.
Our recurring guest.
And the funny thing, funny story with him is when I first started playing
for Michigan State back in 2016, I thought as he came in,
it's mop-up duty and broke his leg when Jabril tackled him and all that.
So I thought his name was Lewerke.
And so the song that popped in my head,
which was the popular song around the
time was work by rihanna and so now that he's been he's been on my show like three or four i
think two or three times now and his theme song in my show is rihanna's work so i'm gonna so what
i'm gonna play that song when he when he comes on so i'm gonna look forward to having him on and
um i'm trying to get shay on, but Shay doesn't like doing interviews and stuff.
I hope he does me a solid, but is he big timing you?
Hey, he, he, he, Shay's Shay's one of them people where he, he,
number one over on the draft gets a big head. No, no, he, he,
he Shay does what he wants to do when he wants to do it.
That's just kind of the person he is. You know, if he wants to play golf,
he'll say, Hey, you want to, you know, and he wants to do it right now. Hey Don of the person he is. If he wants to play golf, he'll say, hey, he wants to do it right now.
Hey, Don, you want to play golf?
I'm like, dude, you're five hours away.
But you have practice?
Huh?
No, you have practice?
No, mate.
And he's – yeah.
And so the funny thing is people make fun of him with golf and such.
It's just stupid because all quarterbacks golf.
Just about every quarterback golfs. That's just kind of their thing. It's like pitch because all quarterbacks golf. Just about every quarterback golfs.
That's just kind of their thing.
It's like pitchers in baseball golf on their off days.
That's just what they do.
But Josh Gad is freaking A.
He joked about it and turned it into a bigger deal
than it should have been.
So it's whatever.
Oh, man.
I never made it as a quarterback or a pitcher.
I'm a terrible golfer.
Some days I'm good.
Some days I suck.
That's where I'm going.
I mean, that's a goal.
That's a goal.
Have you ever had Javon Ringer on the podcast?
I have not.
Dude's got the – I mean, if you put him in his prime in the NFL right now,
he might have the biggest legs in the league.
Yeah, he was a monster, you know.
Him, A.J. Dillon.
Who's the other one?
Saquon.
Saquad Barkley.
Dude has tree trunks, man.
Diesel.
Like me.
If you watch the YouTube video of our interview with Tracy Smith,
you see my beefy legs next to Rose's little bird legs.
It's nice.
Jack's pitching in relief.
You act like, hold on, hold on.
You act like they're super muscular quads that you have.
It looks like in the video.
That's all that matters.
Huh.
I don't need to perform.
You don't need to perform? I'd love to perform i'd love to see all glamour muscles like
one time all glamour muscles all right all right i'm done with you i'll tell you that right now
um wait i can i talk about my experience uh golfing with turtle oh my god nobody cares
i'm kidding.
I care.
I do care.
That was pretty sweet.
That was cool, man.
I mean, he's a great dude.
I promise you, I'm not friends with him at all.
I literally just paired up with him in this golf outing.
It's pretty cool.
It was like he was about – I've met a lot of down-to-earth people
that don't need to be.
Is that a short joke?
No, I'm not that –
He's closer to the earth than you are.
Yeah, I mean that definitely works, I guess.
He is a little guy.
I will say that.
Definitely a little guy.
But he like literally acted like a normal –
like anybody else in the world was super cool.
That was like,
that was definitely if 2010 me had like one or two people to pick,
I would probably,
he's like top 50.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Top 50.
No,
that was an entourage was,
was,
was big.
He'd be top five.
Yeah.
I mean, I watched that show religiouslyly like i never got into it until like five six maybe even more years ago but like i
loved it i just like binged it it was like in college dude when when i was watching that show
in college it was like that was it was i just wanted to be them so bad because it was like all they do
is like literally golf go hang around drive around party and do it all it was like it's a college
kid's dream man honestly you know i i golfed in a tournament last year with um four heisman winners
in one tournament wow it was In Lawrence Taylor's tournament.
The greatest defense player ever.
We had
Marcus Allen, Bo Jackson,
Eddie George.
Marcus Allen, Eddie George,
Bo Jackson.
Who's...
I forget the other one.
Johnny Manziel.
Tim Tebow.
There's another running back.
Mark Ingram.
You just slipped my mind.
But, yeah, it was – my interaction with Bo Jackson was –
Herschel Walker.
Was it Herschel Walker?
It was Herschel Walker, no.
It was Herschel Walker.
But Eric Dickerson was there, but he wasn't –
I don't think he won the Heisman.
But, yeah, it was actually really funny.
People were gathered at the drink cart, the little drink tent between 9 and 18.
Bo had his caddy on the back, and the carts were blocking it to go to the back nine.
I'm standing there.
He looks at me and says, hey, can you move that cart for me?
I'm like, yes, sir.
I got the cart.
And then he didn't even say thank you. He just went by. I'm like,. He looks at me and says, hey, can you move that cart for me? I'm like, yes, sir. I also got the cart. Oh, yeah.
I moved it out of the way.
And then he didn't even say thank you.
He just went by.
I'm like, you're welcome.
I've actually, weirdly enough, I haven't golfed with him,
but I was at a golf event with Dickerson and LT.
Dickerson looks like he could play in the NFL right now.
Yes!
He's, like like so fit.
Yeah.
Yeah, ED, me and him, I actually got to – I sat at the awards thing and drink reception.
I actually sat next to him, and we were just talking,
and he was really excited about Stafford
because I told him I'm an Alliance fan,
and he actually showed me an article.
And he said, I think this guy is going to be it.
He said, we finally got a quarterback.
And, of course, he was right.
And then I actually beat Eddie George in closest to the pin.
So we finished one and two.
We took a picture together.
Were you wearing some Michigan stuff?
I was like – I didn't.
And when I saw him, I was like, Eddie, I should have worn Michigan.
You missed the opportunity.
And I was like, Michigan finally beat Ohio State.
You know?
100% of the opportunities you don't take advantage of.
Yeah.
Don, do you want to do a name drop-off?
I don't know.
Let's do it.
Jack will – oh, God, I'll get up and leave.
No.
People on Twitter, Don Thomas. People are like, Don Thomas. I'm like, yo, these are my'll get up and leave. No. People on Twitter, Don Thomas.
People are like, Don Thomas talks about celebrities
and stuff. I'm like, yo, these are my friends,
y'all. He talks to people.
He follows people around.
He makes them want to be your friend.
Some of y'all are stupid. That's all I got to say, man.
Some of y'all are stupid in my own business.
Straight up.
You got no idea.
You don't know me.
Y'all don't even know anybody that knows me.
Shut up.
That's all I got to say.
I'm tired of y'all.
Don't tell me.
How are you going to beat you with anybody?
How are you going to beat you with this person?
That's what happens when you have people that are friends.
That's what happens when you have friends, y'all.
I have friends that you may know,
but I got a bunch more that you don't know who they are
because they're not in the public light, okay?
It's called having friends.
That's all I got to say, man.
Tweeting from your mama's basement.
I'm tired of it, man.
Tired of it.
How did we get there?
I'm tired of it. I'm tired of it. Well, you guys did the. How did we get there? You're tired of it.
Well, you guys did the name drop-off thing.
Name drop-off thing.
How the hell did we get there?
But Jesse, you're a celebrity, man. You got the NIL stuff going on.
I'm not a celebrity, no.
I'm not.
He's that guy.
You're that guy.
I'm that guy that nobody really knows who I am.
Who is Justin Rue?
Everyone's like, he does something, but nobody really knows what I do. I don't really know who I am. Who is Justin Rowe? He does something, but nobody really knows what I do.
I don't really know what I do.
It's a great place to be
because then nobody can hold me accountable for things.
It's perfect.
You're going to be like that guy in office space
where they're like, did we fire him?
I don't know. We just moved his office to the basement.
What would you say
you do here
all right hey well don we appreciate you man um you've got a lot of good things to say i know the
people people are hard on you you know so you've got you've got thick skin though you you stick
through it um you know you're you're a good dude down at heart.
I appreciate that.
And that's the thing, man.
You know, when you have takes that aren't down Main Street,
people are going to, what are you talking about?
Like, you know, it is what it is, man.
Hey, you like me, follow me.
Don't block me.
I don't care.
I'm going to say what I'm going to say.
Yeah, yeah. Don't change for me. Don't block me. I don't care. I'm going to say what I'm going to say. Yeah, yeah.
Don't change for anybody.
Don't change for anybody.
You miss out on 100% of the hot takes, but you don't put out there, you know?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's funny.
And I love the Michigan fans.
Actually, I'm not going to name any names.
Someone actually on Twitter is like –
Name them.
Who do you hate most?
Almost had him.
Ooh.
I mean, I don't hate anybody.
I just choose not to invest my energy in places that aren't good.
Positive vibes only, man.
Yeah.
And, yeah, because I actually had one person –
there's one person on Twitter I'm not going to name their names.
I love to and be petty, but –
We'll leave it out.
This fan base doesn't need you.
Oh.
Damn, dude.
It doesn't need none of us.
Michigan was here before we all were born.
It's going to be here after we're all gone.
It doesn't need none of us.
It's like we – and I've had's like we don't claim Don Thomas.
