This is the University of Michigan.
Touchdown, Michigan!
The beat of Michigan football!
And they've caught extra pass.
And it goes to the win!
The three-pointer by Jordan Poole!
Down the sideline!
Peebles-Jones!
Touchdown, Wolverines.
All right.
Welcome back to Blue by 90.
I'm Justin, joined by Tanner and Kalen today. Do we think that Jack's going to show up today?
He said he's coming on late.
What do we think?
Let's put an over-under on it.
20 minutes in or over under.
I got the under,
um,
if he's rushing home,
he gets off around five,
10.
It's almost five 30.
He should be here pretty soon.
He said he would hop on right at five 30.
So I think he,
if he's a man of his word,
then he will be here in in three minutes come on
let's see that's where you're all what a naive young man hey i'm just i'm using words like some
people use words if you if you kind of catch my drift like if you say things a certain way then
it's not on you because you said it a certain way and there's been a lot of that going on lately but we don't have to get into that so um true well i you know what with all that that's going on right now
i cracked my blue by 90 beer over here from north peak brewing uh i'm enjoying it so i'm gonna take
a sip here while we record a podcast i don't know if if you noticed. But I decorated behind me as well.
Beautiful.
If you're listening on Spotify.
There's now a Michigan flag behind Justin.
Instead of a white wall.
So for the non-YouTube viewers.
Well I guess they would just be listeners.
Unless you were looking at your phone.
I'm not sure if it's a flag.
Or like a printed out 8.5 by 11.
It is a bit small.
It is. It's like. I would eight and a half by 11? It is a bit small. It is.
It's like, I would call it a 24 inches by 18 inches.
Okay.
It's a good size.
It's like a little mini flag.
It's bigger than like a car flag,
but not as big as a three by five.
Beautiful.
Can I share a piece of intel that I don't know
if I'm supposed to share, but it's not anything crazy.
It's just kind of funny. Somebody that
I know works for the M-Den
and Fox called and said, hey, can we get a Michigan
flag because a certain Michigan alum
wants that flag in Happy Valley.
Really? So put two and two together.
I just heard that through the grapevine. I don't know if I'm
supposed to share that, but I don't
know. I think that's fine who's on fox oh oh oh yeah i heard that so i'm gonna run
that past my source like hey is it okay that i said this but this is gonna go up thursday night
people people know what's going on it. We'll check our compliance department. Hashtag sources are
talk of the town. That might be like the
Merriam-Webster
word of the year.
Hashtag sources.
We're really leaning into the visual
part of the podcast on YouTube.
I just want anyone to know that
if they saw me just take a drink of
this glass oh there he goes we literally he said take a look and then he cut out completely
signing off he's just a spinning circle of blackness now. Now he's gone completely.
Talk about great
listening. We're three and a half
minutes in. Pod's off the rails.
Off the rails completely. Love this.
But yeah,
there's obviously been a lot
going on. We'll talk here
while Tanner's hopefully...
His computer might have blown up.
Oh, here we go.
Here we go. We're back. Oh, here we go. Here we go.
Here we go.
We're back.
Dude, my screen.
Oh, and we're now switched.
My screen went dark.
And then I just kept talking because I didn't know if you guys weren't talking
because I was talking.
And then, yeah, so I don't know where it cut out.
But if anybody saw me take a drink from my glass, it's a Nebraska cup.
Not very happy with the Cornhuskers or their head man at the moment
so apologies for this disgusting image on my glass of ice water i just wanted to put that out there
anyone's watching on youtube i try to cover up the end not happy with that rule just throwing
it out there all right well well they're gonna crucify you for that just say no crucify tanner
i i would never but the people people – don't do that.
If you're – don't put it in the comment section.
Don't do that.
I have one more thing, and this is important because you brought up
North Peak Brewing.
There may be something happening on Saturday with North Peak Brewing,
I believe.
That's a good call.
We should – let's do that.
There might be.
North Peak Brewing and Pretzel Bell. Ever heard of it? It's a good call. We should, let's do that. There might be North Peak Brewing and Pretzel Bell.
Ever heard of it?
It's a great bar in Ann Arbor.
We will be there.
We'll be there on Saturday.
There is a watch party.
The Blue by 90 watch party at Pretzel Bell starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
We'll be there.
There will be Hail IPA on draft.
They've got multiple shot deals,
a $5 shot deal, $6 shot deal, $20 buckets of beer. And we're going to have some giveaways
there too. I've got some gift cards to give away. So I, I honestly, the biggest reason why we wanted
to do this, I felt like in a time like this, you need camaraderie. You need camaraderie. We need
to be together watching this game, high-fiving after touchdowns.
I've already got it in my head that I do.
Actually, question.
Let's put a poll out there for the viewers.
Put it in the comment section.
Should we shotgun after each touchdown or do a shot after each touchdown?
Oh, geez.
I think shotgun inside the pretzel bell would be electric.
The last time I blacked out was at the pretzel bell.
Unintentionally, I might add.
But, you know, it just took control of me at the pretzel bell.
So I'd love to be able to just go and just have some debauchery
at the pretzel bell.
It's a great place for it.
That's the goal.
I've already confirmed that we can just take over the aux cord.
I invited DJ array,
the big house DJ.
So he's going to be there as well.
Putting some tunes on.
I need the vibes high.
So come see us at pretzel bell on Saturday.
Would love to watch the game with a bunch of you guys.
And I'm going to be,
I'm already fired up.
I don't know about you guys but
how how do we feel like i feel like the last like three weeks has just been like
building up building up building up i'm edging right now and saturday needs to come right now
those that was great together i don't know if that was intentional, but that was unbelievable.
I always forget my mom listens to this.
Oh, my gosh.
Your dad does too.
He does.
He's the guy from Bleacher Report.
We're going to ring the bell, if you know what I mean, at Pretzel Bell.
Ring the bell.
Yes, yes.
Yeah, we got to ring it every touchdown, every big play,
like every sack, everything.
Absolutely.
Do we play pump it up?
Oh, hell yeah.
Perfect.
You know what's going to be great about this game too is that Joel is on our side, man.
Joel is a friend of the program at this point.
He's a known friend and trusted agent, as Jim Harbaugh would say.
He's been going to bat for Michigan in due process.
And I've always been a big fan of him and Gus, man.
I mean, you know, the old school Maddens with Gus,
you know, talking about getting away from the cop speed.
Like, I just – there's something about Gus Johnson calling a game.
When it goes your way, it's so much fun.
When it doesn't, it is as equally not fun.
I agree with that.
Go Honigford for like 15 seconds.
I mean, yes, you did.
But I feel like that is so true.
Like I can't imagine being an Ohio State fan
and hearing Gus say Donovan Edwards like for 85.
The Don, like just screaming over your TV. Oh screaming oh my god that would be so bad so bad
hey we've done we've been there we know it we've been there you just got to deal with it when your
team's not as good as the other team so yeah um but to your question how do you feel I mean
you know I've been trying to stay in tune with everything related to Michigan football and so
you know if I uh if I'm driving to work meetings or you know running an errand going to the dry
cleaner or whatever like I'm listening to Michigan podcasts
and just listening to as much content as I can.
And, man, every time I start to think about the game,
I get this just feeling in my stomach, just like those good nerves
because I have so much faith in this football team.
And part of me, I think what Justin and I said, like 27-13 or something
on Billy's report, maybe he said 30-16 somewhere else.
Like I think it's going to be somewhere in there.
But part of me is like, yo, what if it's just like come out
and just score, score, score, and just get stops
and we're just like having a great time.
Like, I mean, this team, I wouldn't be shocked
if they just come out sharp as hell, ready to go,
got the rust off, you know, put all the BS aside
and just go play football. Because, like, I'm tired and I'm sure it's, you know, you're human, you know, you've got
115, 130 guys on the team that, you know, they have Twitter, they have social media, but part
of me just has a feeling that these guys are going to be galvanized and just like take that
aggression out in a, in a healthy way, not be over ambitious playing, but, you know, stick to their
keys, you know, stay within themselves and follow the game plan. And just like, I could see them
coming out and just, just on fire. I just want to see kids show up and like have fun playing.
Cause I think that's when we, our team plays the best, right? I just want to see JJ go out there,
be zoned in all the guys playing for each other.
And then to me, that's how you end up just winning big and just winning comfortably.
So I want to see JJ and Donovan Edwards. And I want to hear Gus shouting the Don again,
like all of those things to me is what has been like building up to this really big game.
Big game Don. That's what they're calling it. Big game done.
I mean, I totally agree with you, Kalen.
That's what MSU felt like to the max.
It was like, guys, and obviously MSU is not nearly as talented as Penn State,
so it's going to be a very different game than that.
And it wasn't like, this crowd's going to be crazy.
Even though I'm thanking the good Lord that we're not at a whiteout night game
because that's, you know, I'm just going to call a spade a spade.
That is nearly an impossible situation to go in and win at.
And so I'm very happy about that.
But I think that, you know, three years ago,
we'd be shitting our pants about going into a big game on the road in this situation, right?
Now, these guys thrive in this.
Like, I really do think, I put it out on Twitter this morning, like, I think they're going to love the boos that come raining down on them.
It's like they feed into it for whatever reason.
Like, they absolutely love it.
And so, I think that, reason, like they absolutely love it. And so
I think that like, they'll rally around that. You know, I just think I was in Columbus last year
and these guys loved every second of that. It like draws them closer together. You know,
it's them against the world. Some would even call it Michigan versus everybody. I don't know.
That's, you know, maybe, maybe check off the bus for,
for what some, some people may be wearing on Saturday. I don't know. But yeah, I think I love
that. I do, you know, I'm more confident in this team than I ever have been about a team playing
on the road in this environment. I'm curious to hear what are you guys maybe most confident about and what are you
most unsure about? I will tell you, I feel extremely confident that Michigan is going
to make Drew Aller's life hell on Saturday for 60 minutes. I've been on this show and I've been
on different shows vocal that i don't think that
offense is as good as people think i mean they're at like they're like number seven in the country
in points per game uh but if you look at the yardage they gain it's like their iowa game they
scored 31 they had 4.0 yards per play and that's not good like that's not great at all that's that's
that's pretty mediocre and i just feel like their defense is so good
and is able to kind of prey on weaker offenses
and get turnovers and get stops
and give them really good field position.
Like, I don't know if Drew O'Larkin really drive down the field
if Michigan's going to take away the big plays.
And even then, he hasn't, you know, really let it fly.
So it's like the running backs are good.
The O-line is kind of suspect.
And I feel really good about the defense.
So that's kind of where I'm at as far as confidence goes.
I'm just – I have a lot of faith in this defense
and the way the secondary is playing right now and the front seven.
Like it's the total package.
Like this is one of the best defenses I've seen at Michigan in a long time.
The man is here.
Oh, boy.
We were right.
Under. Well, he's got to get logged in
he's got he's probably has to take a poop or something too or like there's gotta be something
but you know as we said before just do it in your pants you're good to go yeah we have talked about
that i will still claim that as an adult i've never shit my pants liar liar i've never done that bro like full-on like you know like you want to know what's
funny too is i literally like said that to somebody in a real human life conversation the other day
and they looked at me they're like i've i've never done that and i just i was like ah shit this is this makes me
look like you're alive right now yeah um so i guess to answer your question kaylin why i'm
confident i the answer is jj mccarthy that's my answer and it i think it starts and ends there like you you know he's just got the it factor man
there he's just got the it factor and these guys are rallying around him like it is you know so
apparent that he's the leader of this program right now and it's like it doesn't matter where
they're at what they're doing like for a guy and he's not a vocal leader at all. Like
yes, he's out there doing, you know, stuff obviously, but he leads by example way more
than he leads being vocal. Um, and he's just like guys, when he speaks, it's, it's similar
to Aiden Hutchinson two years ago when he speaks guys, shut up and listen, you know, and it's I, I love it.
And that's honestly why I'm confident.
Love that. What about unsure of that's the one I'm more,
maybe more interested in. Good question. Jackery, how are you doing?
I'm doing great guys. How are we? Good. Thanks for, thanks for joining.
Appreciate you. You hit the under 20 minutes in.
That was good. That's good. I'll take that for myself. This is a big win. I'm proud of that.
Big dub. Unshare of it. Tanner, go for it. So I've been kind of – I don't know if boisterous is the word,
but I've been outspoken in my still confidence in the run game
because I've mentioned this on multiple shows,
and Justin, you've already heard this,
but I think the interesting thing about Michigan's run game
is that the three best defenses against the run
that Michigan has faced this year were Rutgers, Minnesota, Nebraska, which, you know, murderers row, right?
But those rush defenses are all pretty good.
I mean, Nebraska is still up there.
I think they're second behind Penn State.
Let me jump in there.
Listen, we do get to call those good rush defenses
if the college football playoff committee came out
and said Ohio State is number one this week because of Rutgers rush defense.
So we do get to like,
which is just such an absurd thing for them to hold onto that number one spot
after Georgia went out and beat a really good Missouri team.
I do think Rutgers is very solid.
They are not Rutgers of five years ago.
That's obvious.
And they have a pretty good rush defense.
But, I mean, that's a whole other discussion.
Georgia should be number one.
It should be no doubt, in my opinion right now,
after they go out and beat a true ranked team.
But if the college football playoff committee can say that Rutgers' rush defense
is enough for Ohio State to say, stay number one,
then we can say that Nebraska and all those teams are good rush defenses too.
Yeah, no, I mean, they are though, right? Like Nebraska still is, I believe second
in total rush. I think they're very high up in terms of yards per carry as well. Rutgers is a
little bit higher in yards per carry, but people run against them more. Cause I think their offense
is just so bad, right? Like Michigan was able to go out and kind of dominate Rutgers. a little bit higher in yards per carry, but people run against them more because I think their offense is just so bad.
Right?
Like Michigan was able to go out and kind of dominate Rutgers.
You know, then they go to Nebraska,
and it's like number one rush defense in the country.
Everyone's hyping it up.
Will Compton's talking about four quarters of fuck you football.
And what does Michigan do?
249 yards down your throat.
Right?
And then same thing with Minnesota.
They're able to run the ball.
I think they had 191 yards.
And it's interesting because Michigan State, Indiana, and Purdue do not have –
they're more at the bottom tier of the Big Ten,
but Michigan was content with just throwing the ball.
And I think part of that was Purdue was plus one in the box all night,
and Michigan was like, okay, we'll just – you have that safety 20 yards deep
and you're running a five-man front.
We'll just let J.J. McCarthy throw it. So I just feel like, even though that Michigan hasn't
looked as great on the ground in recent weeks, I still feel like with the incorporation of McCarthy
in the run game and bringing in different packages for Donovan and Blake, like I'm,
I'm confident that they can run the ball, but that's still probably my bigger concern is just
being able to get four and five yards like they normally do uh or have done
over the last couple of years and just be able to stay ahead of the chains um get those tough
yards yards when needed uh but i i still feel confident in that but it's definitely one of
the things that i'm thinking about a lot as we get closer to saturday yeah um it is uh there's a lot of nuances to this game i think that ultimately like if you put it on
paper um i think that michigan's the better team in my opinion their defenses are very similar
right you know neither of them have given up a point in the third quarter. They have very similar defenses, but if you had to ask,
do I take Michigan's offense or Penn State's offense
through 10 games this year, I think just about everyone's saying
Michigan's offense, right?
And, you know, I think it was obvious to me when Penn State played Ohio State,
which this is Ohio State's best defense in a long, long time, that once they went up against a solid defense,
this offense completely sputtered, like completely sputtered.
So I don't know.
I think the key for Michigan is there are two keys,
and they both involve the quarterbacks on each side.
One is on defense for Michigan, get to Drew Aller early, get him uncomfortable, get him
on his ass and get to get him, you know, in some sack situation, get some pressure on
him.
On the other side of the ball, keep JJ clean, keep that dirt or keep that uniform clean.
And, you know, the last thing that, that we need in this situation is him, you know,
us playing behind the sticks, him feeling a little bit uncomfortable in a raucous crowd,
you know, maybe turning the ball over with a fumble, a sack fumble, you know, something like
that. That's where I get worried, I would say, if youigan um but on the our defensive side like that's how we win the
game in my opinion yeah i definitely want to see if they have the ability to like flip the switch
right like show up and just be like ready to rock right from the beginning because i think that's
going to be huge establishing the uh the line of scrimmage early in the game putting up points
early in the game and getting stops early in the game, putting up points early in the game, and getting stops
early in the game, and not having to be like, okay, it's second quarter, time to start playing
here. Because I think they're going to have to make a statement and kind of take the crowd out
of the game early. I mean, they've been really good at that all year in Big Ten play, right?
But I do know what you're saying, too, because, you know, potential distractions. And my thing, though, is that it's weird, man. Against Purdue, they come out and it's
touchdown, touchdown. It's two stops. It's a pick. It's a field goal, right? And then it's like they
kind of took their foot off the gas. I don't know if they were like went to a shell like they
sometimes do and are like, let's just get out of here. But also, JJ threw it 37 times. So,
you know, it's interesting. But they came out extremely sharp against Purdue off the bye week.
And then I don't know if something caught up to them or they were just, again, content with
taking that game. And, you know, it would have been awesome just for the memes to win by more,
but like, they're probably like, we have much bigger fish to fry. And so let's get out of here
healthy. Cause they didn't, I mean, dude, if they had JJ pulling,
like they were keying in on the inside run so much.
Like if they wanted to really just blow it wide open, they could have.
So that's where I feel like the big game Michigan comes out
where they do incorporate different things that they've been kind of saving
and don't have on film.
And there's rumblings that there's some unique things
that Michigan is going to do.
I've heard it from different podcasts and different places on the internet. Like's some unique things that Michigan is going to do. I've heard it from different podcasts and different places on the internet. Like there
are some things that Michigan is going to do that are supposed to be extremely exciting. So
obviously you don't want to talk about that too much, but it sounds like they kind of want it
out there too, for Penn State to have to think about things. Love it. Love it. Jack, what's your
take? I just won a game of chess, so I'm pretty excited about that.
But, yeah, I'd love to see J.J. continue to play football.
Are you playing chess during our podcast?
Yeah, I mean, you know, Tanner starts talking, and I'm just like, fuck, dude.
Okay, I've heard this a million times.
You know, I don't want to hear it anymore.
Well, we know that you can't comprehend the ball knowledge on this side of the aisle over here.
That's right, dude.
I'm the voice of stupid football.
Were you playing chess against Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti?
I was listening to Justin Muggiestad.
You bitch.
No, I don't know, dude.
I love watching last game.
Granted, I had to watch it the next day because I got home and was so tired
and I fell asleep right away.
But JJ was fucking throwing the rock around, dude.
He looked good.
Even though that was like, people were saying it was a bad game.
I thought he looked incredible.
Yeah, there was just,
there was a couple of times where he was just off with his mechanics.
And I think they fixed that later on in the game.
He was, he had some really nice throws.
Yeah. I mean, you know, I won the heisman ncaa multiple times uh but the the throw to donovan uh was was a fantastic throw he had another throw to roman
that he hit up the field um there was just a couple that kind of got away from him but you
could kind of see his mechanics like his it was just he wasn't you know perpendicular with the
line is what you're supposed to do as a quarterback so So not to – dude, I just like – I don't think it's that crazy
to know that kind of stuff, Jack.
But, you know, there are some things that you could see that he wasn't as sharp,
but he still put up 335.
Like that's a bad game that we're chilling.
I mean, do we need to get him a new QB coach?
Like what –
No.
Are we fucked the rest of the season?
He's good.
Kirk is the GOAT.
Kirk is the man, dude.
He's working.
He's recruiting.
He's doing all the things.
I don't know, man.
You're making it sound like he's not doing his job.
I'm just trying to be on the same page here.
What's your next move in chess right now?
I can't believe you're literally playing a game of chess during our podcast.
After you were 20 minutes late
and just whoa 20 minutes late i said i'd be there at 5 30 this is incredible i was 10 minutes late
10 minutes late to the to the 5 30 which we started at 5 15 um anyways um well I'm glad that you
gave it a good you gave it a good run
trying to be on the podcast with us
for at least like five minutes before you
started playing chess
I love the
photo that's circulating right now of
Harbaugh playing chess where you get he's getting
a checkmate I think I don't I don't know
are you playing against Harbaugh
yeah so that's so that's why I asked.
Like, are you playing Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti?
Because he got checkmated, I think.
What's his username?
SignStealer69.
So maybe it is Harbaugh.
I don't know.
I'm going to wait for the allegations to arise.
I think he's got a four on the end.
It's not 69.
It must be stallions then.
Yeah.
I'll take that.
All right.
So Penn State plays football.
At a good level.
Do they?
I mean, okay.
I don't know if you guys covered this already,
but how much do you think Michigan wins by in Happy Valley?
Two scores.
Yeah.
I think two touchdowns i like that yeah i like 31 14 yeah i could see that i definitely think michigan's offense is explosive enough to get some big plays and um you know we'll we'll see
with uh with this reported you know new twist to the offense yeah i've heard it from Isaiah Hole. I've read it somewhere that they have
some things that are potentially going to come out, but if they get out to a big lead just running
their normal offense, then they're going to put those away.
Would you bet Penn State to score zero touchdowns?
No.
That's a good question.
I think they'll get one.
Michigan's only let up
two or three touchdowns all year.
Can Penn State run the ball well?
Is that Singleton guy healthy?
They have good running backs, but I don't
think their offensive line is very good.
Drew Allard.
If they don't score a touchdown, I will be shocked.
Not that our defense – I'm not like throwing shade at our defense.
I'm just like –
To be fair, they're bound against something.
I mean, to be fair, they had two field goals until touchdown
with like 20 seconds left against Ohio State.
And I think Michigan's defense is very comparable,
if not better, than Ohio State's.
So, you know.
But it's at home, right?
Like you said.
At home.
Yeah, the energy.
But also, there was a tweet going around of Drew O'Leary
throwing a ball to Dante Cephas on air.
I swear to God, Dante Cephas could have sat down and waited.
It is the funniest video.
Like, he's just, like, lightly jogging and just waiting for the ball
to come to him, and it's like a 12-second video.
And they were like – like, Penn State insiders were tweeting that as, like,
Drew O'Rourke showing off the arm.
I was like, I don't know if that's what I would consider showing off the arm.
But I just – I don't – I just don't think he's there yet.
No, I think he's got a lot of potential, man.
I think he could be really good.
He's going to be very good.
I was in the next warm until the Ohio State game,
and I'm like, this guy is fucking –
I've been on that train for a minute, though, I feel like.
I've been coming on here and saying that I think they're kind of mid on offense
since like September.
Because everyone freaked out after they played well against West Virginia,
and I was like, well, West Virginia is not very good good and then i started to see some of it where it's like
it's got like 5.5 yards per attempt against a really bad team it's like that's not good
like jj's at like 11 some some games like you need to be able to stretch the field and throw
it downfield and they just don't let him that's part of their offense so and the receivers are
not elite you know they don't have a johan elite. They don't have a Jahan Dotson.
They don't have a kid from Detroit that torched Michigan a few years ago.
They don't have a wide receiver one-handed guy.
You know who they do have on defense is Kalen King from Detroit.
And his brother Kobe.
I wish Michigan would have recruited those guys.
They're dogs.
They are dogs, I'll be honest.
But you know
who they also have that we haven't talked about james franklin they do and manny diaz let's talk
about manny diaz for a second uh what do you i mean just a big dumb idiot for doing for for
i'm like what the fuck are you doing i didn't think
it was that bad i just don't think like you're in this you're in a position to do that after you
gave up 418 rushing yards to michigan last year i think you just shut up and then say something
after if you want yeah talk your shit after like that's my take is like dude you know sometimes
20 year old kids get caught up in like a bad question you know and they're you know, sometimes 20-year-old kids get caught up in, like, a bad question, you know, and they're – you know, it's like –
That was designed.
Like, they had the guy recording it.
Right.
It was from the Penn State account.
Yeah.
It's weird.
I don't know, man.
I just hope Michigan lights them up, and then that'll be the new, like, Penn State meme about, like –
What is it? They had somebody appear in every single Super Bowl except for seven or something? Yeah. hope Michigan lights them up and then that'll be the new like Penn State meme about like was it
they had somebody appear in every single Super Bowl except for seven or something that yeah they
had a very fine print at the bottom I think that's the new uh meme that might be going around oh I
will be I will have I will have that video in the bag on Saturday um and I can't wait I I'm so
excited for pretzel bell with the fellas. It's going to be electric.
Claudia is like, hey, you can go.
I don't want to go.
I'm like, all right, that's a bad decision from you for me, but let's do it.
And the boys are going to be there.
And we're getting after it, doing the giveaways and shotguns after touchdowns, I believe is what we've agreed upon.
So hopefully we do a lot of shotguns.
Do we have the basement?
What's the deal?
Do they have TVs down there?
Yeah, they got –
Oh, that's right.
They do.
That's right.
They do.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, I think we got the basement.
So we'll be down there.
I'm excited for it too.
DJ Ray.
DJ Ray.
You guys remember the one time we were there like February
and he just randomly showed up on like a Thursday night? We were like, oh, hey, and he just randomly showed up on, like, a Thursday night?
We were like, oh, hey, what's up?
What's up, dude?
Yeah, he's everywhere, man.
He's quite literally everywhere.
What was I just going to say, though?
Love Hale.
Love Hale IPA.
Gotta love Hale.
Absolutely.
Hale, yeah.
Nice.
Nice. Jack, you should have heard Justin.
I just came up with that earlier.
That was pretty good.
Jack, you missed out.
You're going to have to listen to the first five minutes of this podcast
because Justin makes an edging comment, and it is incredible, the payoff.
And I don't know if it was intentional, but it was amazing.
We're going to bleep it out.
You don't have to buy our OnlyFans to listen to it.
I don't know.
You have to ask the Mormons on that one.
I thought that was soaking.
Soaking?
We talked about that I think on one of our
pods like two years ago
before we were playing BYU.
I had never heard of it.
Why do you think Andrew Gentry decided not to go to
well he was going to Virginia. Never mind. I was thinking of the BYU coach I had never heard of it. Why do you think Andrew Gentry decided not to go to... Well, he was going to Virginia.
Never mind. I was thinking of the... BYU coach
was at Virginia before he
came, so that just fell flat. You think the
coaches are soaking, too?
He was at BYU, man. I don't know if he brought
that culture to Virginia.
Bronco Mendenhall. If your name's Bronco, you're probably soaking.
I don't know. I think if you're
Bronco, you're probably not soaking.
That's a sick name, honestly. Bronco Mendenhall? I don't know, man. You're Bronco you're probably not soaking I feel like that's a sick name honestly
Bronco Mendenhall
I don't know man you gotta be the head coach
you probably still soak with your wife
I'm a fucking superhero
I will say I got a text
from somebody today that gave me
a lot of confidence
in our game there's somebody that's
gonna be pretty much front row
and his name is Big Bird.
Ooh, Cam's.
Cam's alive.
He is – I mean, Penn State's fucking done for.
They're fucked.
You got Big Bird showing up, dude?
Like, it is over for them.
We know Manny Diaz comes out and looks back after –
Is that fucking Big Bird?
And then he calls the wrong play?
There's fucking Big Bird in the first row over there.
I do think that – I mean, if JJ scores like a game-clinching touchdown,
he has to do like that.
He has to do the Manny Diaz. You know how long I waited for a Michigan defender to do the home run celebration
and Chase Winovich doing it in 2018 was maybe the greatest thing
I've ever seen in my life.
I'd waited so long for that after he did it to Michigan.
And then also DPJ did the plane celebration when he scored.
So, like, there's history of Michigan players throwing it back
at Penn State. That's true. Penn State
and Michigan have gone back and
forth. Well, I feel like for
a couple years, it was like
whoever played at home just beat the shit
out of the other team
for the Michigan-Penn State games. Well, it was like one
time for Penn State. It was twice for Michigan.
Well, three times now. I don't know. I think it was like one time for Penn State. It was twice for Michigan. Well, three times now.
I don't know.
I think it was a couple times.
No, they won with Saquon.
And then Ronnie Bell had to drop the next time they went to Happy Valley.
True.
And the time after that was Eric Hall.
But we were blowing them out at home.
Yeah, it was like three times for Michigan now.
The Eric Hall game, that was close, right?
Jim Franklin is 3-6 against Jim Harbaugh, and one of those is a COVID win.
So, take that.
The other one had Jake Vaughn Barkley.
The Eric Hall game was close.
Yeah, it was.
And Kate got hurt that game, and they had to go back to
Milton, I think.
The Eric Hall game definitely
broke the streak, though,
of home team winning.
So, love that. And then, I mean, The Eric Hall game definitely broke the streak, though, of home team winning. Yeah.
So, love that.
And then, I mean, what do you think – actually, what do you think is more likely?
So, 418 rushing yards last year versus them.
Do you think that – I'll call it 300.
Do you think that we're more likely to get 300 rushing yards
or 300 passing yards on
Saturday passing but I also think Michigan will get about 150 to 200 rushing yards so if they do
that then it's going to be a fun Saturday let's just go wild and have like Jack Tuttle start
throw for 418 dude actually what how about speaking of chess? What a big brain chess move that would be
if we rolled out Jack Tuttle for the first series
and they're like, holy shit, JJ's hurt.
Everyone freaks out and then they try him out on the second series
and we go down to score.
I think we just solved the problem.
Put JJ in the slot.
Never know what happened.
Put JJ right beside Tuttle and he runs a swing pass
and does the Donovan Edwards halfback pass for a touchdown?
Like, they're never going to see it coming.
I will say, we haven't seen the halfback pass from Donovan
since Indy two years ago.
See, the problem is we haven't seen the swing pass in a while.
We have, though.
He did it in the Michigan State game.
Ooh, that's right.
They did.
That is a play that should be for Purdue.
Before you come on here, you're making us look bad.
Did you fall asleep during that one?
I can't remember.
Or is that the Purdue game?
That's my bad.
Me?
I do.
Purdue.
Yes.
Potentially during the other game too.
That was after a day of drinking,
and then we had Pink Whitney in the stadium somehow
because Michigan State doesn't care what enters their stadium
or whom as well.
So, you know, in my defense, we had some Pink Whitney,
and we were celebrating a lot.
There was seven touchdowns.
So I don't remember when that play happened, but seven touchdowns.
But, yeah, I would love to see that play.
That play is just get him involved, get him in space,
let him use his speed, man, because he accelerates and he's gone.
Get him in space.
You can still run him between the tackles.
Who's – give me your player of the game on defense,
player of the game on offense for Michigan on Saturday.
Player of the game on defense, Josiah Stewart with three sacks.
Ooh, that's a good one.
Offense, I'm going to go CJ.
I want to see him break out and have a good big game.
I like it.
CJ, Mr. Reliable. mr reliable p you know outside of the
ohio state game last year not a not a ton of flash you know what i mean but like if you need
he he makes so many tough catches and makes them look easy he outside of he obviously had a drop
that would have been a touchdown this past weekend. Still, I'm calling him Mr. Reliable.
Comeback game.
I like that call.
I think I got to go Colston Loveland offense.
I just, you know, thinking of Eric Hall last time we were in Happy Valley.
And Colston's just been a fucking baller all year.
In defense, I'd love to see our guy Rod Moore have a big game.
Give me something, Rod.
I like those picks. He bounced back in a big
way. He had to be coming off the injury, and
I thought the Purdue game was his best game of the year.
Although his deflection took away an interception
for Will, which
is what it is, but he made the play.
I'll tell you what with Rod. I don't know if it's a single
digit number, but the boy's looking thick.
He put on some weight, I i think that's yeah how many c's three at least three maybe
three and a half oh three and a quarter three c's and a lowercase c you know three cat like
cap c's yeah yeah um i'm gonna going to go with Braden McGregor.
He's been – the last two games, like – I'm not saying he's Max Crosby,
but it reminded me when he – when they run away from his side – Are you really saying he's Max Crosby?
Yes, that's exactly what I said.
You literally just said that.
They're from Michigan.
They're tall.
They have tattoos, both of them.
So, you know.
But, like, the way that max crosby was
able to just blow up runs going away from him in the lions raiders game is exactly what he's been
doing to michigan state and purdue he had like multiple of those in each game where it's like
you try to run away from him he just blows it up down the line for a two-yard loss if you try to
read him on a zone read he's gonna play both sides and get a tfl like he's coming on he's playing
really well he drops well on the coverage i I think he's going to have a good
game. And then, I don't want
to be lazy and pick JJ.
I'm going to go with Roman, man. He had two touchdowns
last time he was in Happy Valley with a cast.
So, I think he's going to come out.
He had a big game. Didn't get a touchdown
for BJ. Roman also,
even in the 14,
he just looks good in that white.
So, I think he's going to look clean in that number one white.
The maze pants?
We going maze pants?
I believe that's out there.
Do a whiteout.
Do a whiteout at Penn State.
I love that.
I think you can't see.
You can't see your guy.
Yeah, you can't see.
I mean, you can see the helmet, but that's it, right?
So, that's why they go maze pantsaze Accessories when they go to Penn State.
Remember, well, we were going to do all Maze two years ago,
and James Franklin shut it down.
Maybe we pull it out this year.
Nerd.
Nerd alert.
Nerd alert.
All right.
Is that good?
We good? Score predictions we everybody got theirs in there
i think 31 um 14 that's what i got 41 or 31 um fuck it um let's go
31 10 31 10 so you just completely changed. Love that.
I'm changing.
I'm going 33.
No. 30-13.
I'm adding a field goal.
30-13.
30-13.
I'm going to go
28-12.
12?
You got safety?
Four field goals.
Four field goals.
That's good math.
Two missed extra points.
Or two missed extra points.
Well, they did line up for basically an extra point last year
and then tried to fake it.
Or two years ago, tried to fake it it and then that didn't work out very well
i wanted dax to score on that so like if he breaks the tackle he's gone well somebody's got to pick
up their their puncher holder was it the punter that got him i was like dude i can't remember
it was 90 or whatever whoever it was i mean he's he picked it up on the perfect bounce too. So it's like, yeah.
I'm with you, Kalen.
I said this on Bleacher Report.
I'm sticking with it.
24-13 is my take. Love that.
I think they get one touchdown, two field goals,
and then we score three touchdowns and a field goal.
I think they did the – is that a definition?
I don't know what you're trying to say.
The defining point of this game is going to be the red zone.
Whoever punches it in more instead of settling for field goals
will win this game.
Does Penn State get a first and goal scenario?
Michigan hasn't given a one-up all year long.
Oh, oh.
If they don't.
Say that again?
No team has had a first and goal against Michigan in 2023.
Oh, yeah.
The closest that a team has gotten,
outside of like, you know,
they've given us some longer touchdowns,
but like the closest a team has gotten is the 11-yard line.
That's crazy.
That's pretty close.
That's pretty tight.
Love it.
I, yeah, if they don't, I mean,
well, actually,
I want to ask this question to wrap it up here
because how I was going to say it was going to lead into it.
But if Michigan goes and wins this game,
do they leapfrog and go to number one?
No.
They'd have the best win, right, of any team in the top three
because they'd beat Penn State at Penn State instead of at home.
I just think the fucking committee loves Ohio State for some stupid reason.
There's no reason Ohio State should even be number one.
Georgia should still be number one.
We already said that.
Yeah, I agree.
Right.
We're propping up that Notre Dame win.
He loves Ohio State for some
whatever reason. We're propping up
Notre Dame. They've got three losses.
I watched Notre Dame in person, dude.
They're not that good. Sam Hartman
is not that good.
They lost to Clemson.
They lost to a
4-4 Clemson team. The worst Clemson
team in 15 years.
Yeah.
Like, that's not a quality win anymore, man.
No, neither is Wisconsin.
Wisconsin lost to Indiana.
Exactly.
So, if you're going by resume,
I think Florida State should be over Ohio State right now
because I think LSU wins more impressive.
Any Buckeye that talks on Twitter about the strength of schedule,
like, get out of here, dude.
Yeah, Notre Dame's a big brand, but nobody gives a shit if they aren't good.
They're going to go 8-4, and they're going to finish in the top from 20 to 25.
It's going to end up not being that big of a win or an impressive win,
and when Michigan does what we know they're going to do on November 25th,
it's all going to be a moot point.
I agree with you.
And guess what?
One more point on Notre Dame, Ohio State.
Notre Dame handed that game to Ohio State.
Silver platter.
Literally.
Like, that wasn't, you know, if Ohio State goes into South Bend
and wins that game by two or three scores and looks really good doing it,
that's a different story. But the looks really good doing it, that's a
different story. But the college football playoff committee, like I feel like eye test is their,
that's like their biggest factor. It seems like by going off of what they judge things on. And
like, I want, we all watch that. That was not a good win, right? That was a sloppy win. So, hey, I think
there's a really good argument if Michigan goes and wins in a
solid fashion on Saturday that they should be number one.
And I'll be in the front of
Twitter leading the way on that storm, that's for sure.
So, please. for sure. Please.
All right.
