Starting point is 00:00:00 This is the University of Michigan. Touchdown, Michigan! The Beats of Michigan! And they've caught extra pass. And it goes for the win! The three-pointer by Jordan Poole! Down the sideline! Peebles-John!
Starting point is 00:00:21 Touchdown, Wilbur! Touchdown, Wolverines! All right, welcome back to Blue by 90. I am here with Jack and Kalen as always. And today we have another special guest on. We have had a good run of guests here. We're excited about it. Well, we've got Dawson from the michigan insiders fan page uh it's what's the official at what's the official tag there at michigan underscore insiders all
Starting point is 00:00:54 right there you go yeah and you've got a twitter page so that's your instagram is the twitter page is the same thing too the twitter would be um underscore insiders at um underscore insiders all right so there you go so go follow dawson on uh on instagram and twitter there he's got great pages i know i i'm more of a uh i'm on the twitter side but your instagram is what how many followers are you at now currently i think 28.5k if i recall I guess it's been a slow off season but you know it's up there shrugging shrugging your shoulders like you know no big deal there I mean it's been five years I guess almost six years in the making now so I mean it's taken time but I love it wouldn't change it for anything for sure yeah we had uh we had cam from the michigan page on last week and who has become
Starting point is 00:01:47 our good friend so we're happy to have you and and become friends with you and and uh so welcome to the podcast thanks for coming on we appreciate it it's funny too when we had cam on we've had cam i think three times now but i think the first time we had him on uh i told him about it's like i was like man dawson from the michigan insiders you were like the first bigger page michigan page that actually reached out to us i remember we were tailgating and i think we put up a story and you were like hell yeah boys let's get after it and uh i have to like i was like dude this is so cool i think we had like a hundred followers at the time and like this guy's reaching out to us he's got like i don't even think we had a lot i think we had like 10 hundred followers at the time. And like this guy's reaching out to us. He's got like 20,000. I don't even think we had a lot.
Starting point is 00:02:28 I think we had like 10. I was like, how did he find us? Oh, there's plenty out there. That's where we go. Yeah. There's plenty of fishes. And the fact that you guys still get it the way you do.
Starting point is 00:02:37 You got caught my eye. I'm in there this year, boys. That's right. There we go. Wait, that's, you know,
Starting point is 00:02:43 we were just talking about it. We're not sure about the, uh, buying into the hype of michigan football but we're definitely buying into the hype of tailgating season right yes sir you have to i'm so that's the my main thing i'm telling so i'm taking my girlfriend to the first game it'll be her first michigan game she's sadly she was born right outside of Columbus but um I know I know but now I'm taking her and I'm like she's like are you excited for the game I'm like I'm not even excited about the game I'm excited to get there at 6 a.m crack a beer at 6 a.m 6 30 and get after it man football's back absolutely I love that we might need to just clip that right
Starting point is 00:03:23 there that was that's right that's i love that i love that that was great yeah i mean we've got i will say so we've got some big things in store for tailgating season here we've got a couple sponsors possibly coming on for us to get get us some more uh some drinks and things like that to make it good um we've got i got brand new speakers i got a brand new tent i got it all so we're we're excited we've got flags we've got banners we've got you know we'll probably have some kegs out there so we're excited to you know we've tailgated with our friends and stuff and it's been pretty fun but now to like bring in our twitter instagram social media friends with it and fans out there and listeners,
Starting point is 00:04:07 it's going to be super fun. So I'm excited to meet all everybody that over the last two years, we've like seen in, in, on zoom or talked with over social media. Now hopefully we can meet you all in person here. So, so that'll be exciting. Oh, I cannot wait. I I'm excited. That's kind of how I met some of the other pages. I met Cam two years ago at the middle Tennessee game, had a blast with him. Cam's that dude. So as you said, as we were talking about before the show, you guys had Cam
Starting point is 00:04:37 on and that he's literally that dude. Nolan over at U of M graphics. I've caught up with him. He's a season ticket holder. He's up there all the time, tailgated with those guys. So it is really nice. You know, you talking to these guys through DMS all the time, you know, sharing your thoughts and then, you know, you kind of just have a game day where you can sit down and have a beer conversation face to face, you know, and I, I cannot wait. Cannot, I cannot express to you how happy I am for football being back then.
Starting point is 00:05:04 6am beers hit different. 6 a.m. beers hit different when you got the big house right next to you, too. That's true, too. I was cracking a couple early beers this week on a golf outing, but now a golf outing is great, but then I can just – I don't know about you guys, but I can – obviously, it was on a golf course there, too, but I can smell, I don't know about you guys, but I can, I obviously it was on a golf course there too, but I can smell the Michigan golf course.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Like, you know, that smell of game day and the golf course and it's like freshly cut. There's dew on the ground. People are getting their grills out and getting the music rolling. And so I can't wait. I'm going to be probably packed up with my truck, like ready to go on like Tuesday of that first game week. Just like, all right.
Starting point is 00:05:48 We're just like ready to rumble. It's going to be good. It's going to be good. I'm pumped. So what time do we have to get there to set these tailgates off? You're there. You're, I mean, you're ready to get in right at 6 AM, right? Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:00 I am very much. Well, I usually get up around 4 AM on a game day and I, I help out with the M den on game days and drive. Okay. Right. So for that tent that goes there but then I go straight from driving that to just like, you're depends on the game. Sometimes you got to get in line to get a good spot. This year we'll probably be in the Chrysler center parking lot. And so it'll be, I mean, you can promise, I can promise you that I'll be the first one in line every day. So we're
Starting point is 00:06:35 going to get a good spot. We're excited. So that's going to be fun. All right. Let's let's get into, so camp is going on, right? So we're, I mean, we can kind of feel it, right? I feel like we've said that every time on this podcast, but each week more and more, we can feel that football is here. Now we see Instagram posts and Twitter posts of them cracking pads. And you see these guys in the uniforms and it's like, holy shit, it really is almost here. And, you know, we're talking about full capacity and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:07:06 And so I'm excited about that. But now when we're getting down to just actually talking about the team, where do you stand on the team right now, Dawson? I know there has been it's been a roller coaster of the last two years. But going into 2021, are you buying in or are you not buying in? Do I have a middle answer there? Do I have an answer? Middleman Dan over here, middleman Dawson. I don't know if, again, I don't know if I'm fully bought in, but I am bought in on the fact that the culture is changing. I can definitely tell the culture is changing. That's something, of course, as I said, I'm not trying to read too much, you
Starting point is 00:07:50 know, about and hype myself up even more. But, you know, a lot of the posts I see, you know, these guys, I see a bunch of Instagram posts, you know, with their photos coming in, you know, from the pictures they were getting. I mean, you hop on a player's post and half the team is commenting on that and you know that's some small stuff but you're like you were not seeing that in previous years you might see some of their best buds on the team but you have a freshman tj guy post a picture and the whole starting defense is like hyping this dude up like let's go you know what i'm saying we were not seeing that in you know these past years so i'm definitely can tell there's a culture change which i'm excited about because you know once the culture changes as you know where it was this team is going to be improved
Starting point is 00:08:29 this is that two and four I will say it again you know when you know I live in Ohio I hear it all the time why did you you know I hear it all the time and I have to explain that two and four year yeah we weren't good but two and four was was that team was better than two and four I think everybody can agree on that that team was better than two and four that team should have beat Rutgers by three touchdowns it was just a weird year it was a down year we I mean we like to forget about it now um I won't give a record prediction yet just in case we talk about that a little later but this will definitely be we'll be in a decent bowl game you know we'll be hanging in there with wisconsin again we'll be hanging in there with penn state and you know
Starting point is 00:09:10 as i said it's just gonna i'm not totally bought in i guess until i see especially those first two weeks you know of course the opener you always want to see how the team plays once washington comes around if we take it to washington week two then i'll start thinking about you know all right is this team you know can they actually do something this year yeah it's hard I know we've at least for me I'm doing my best to try and restrain myself and not and not get too bought in and too excited for the season but I mean like you said it's it sounds like coming from the players and the coaches that there seems to be a a shift in energy that's heading in a more positive direction but also everybody was saying that after game one last year it's just so it's so like i don't want
Starting point is 00:09:50 to get too bought in and then have it like yanked the rug yanked out from under my feet but um it's hard not to get excited right like it's so hard not to get excited we're two weeks away from football september schedule looks like it'll be pretty easy we've got a um certified starter coming in kade mcnamara you know aiden hudgenson's healthy i mean there's there's so many good things to look forward to but it's just so i'm so afraid to get too hyped up to be let down well that's another thing i'm sorry for interrupting but that's another thing that i really caught my eye is you know jim harville big 10 media ding was kate mcnair is our starter he's it looks like he's not going to give that up you know and of course you know being the leader that kate is i'm pretty sure that helped out a lot
Starting point is 00:10:35 but i mean you look at this quarterback room of course the goat dan valari by the way that's right baby you also have a you know a former starting quarterback in the big 12 alan bowman who you know played played good football over at texas tech you know for what yeah put up numbers that's what i'm saying which you do not see at michigan um and of course you know you have jj you know he's going to be a true freshman you don't really expect him to start off the rip but you know who i was really worried about and him getting to camp late maybe even uh excuse me campus late maybe even helped Cade but Alan Bowman was the one I was like JJ I don't think JJ is the one to really look out for to take that starting role right off
Starting point is 00:11:15 the bat if Alan Bowman comes in you know is ripping missiles in practice that's who I'd be afraid of he's got the experience he's got the uh the leadership of course being a being a starting quarterback in the big 12 he's played in big games as you know i think i think it was the interview with uh um the winged helmet um over at sports illustrated i was watching that interview and he said you know he brings in that big game and he's been in that situation before so of course i don't see that happening i think of course you know they were pretty sturdy on kb in the week. But Alan Bowman was my guy that I was like, I think this is the guy we should be looking to that one episode, you could like hear it in Alan Bowman's voice that he was kind of the leader. He's been there before.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I definitely was listening and I was like, I would follow that guy if he was leading my team. Well, and two, like you think of transfer quarterbacks coming in, right? Jake Ruddock. I mean, Bowman said it himself. He's like, you know, I'm not a huge arm guy, but I can hit my spots.
Starting point is 00:12:23 My accuracy is my thing and that was kind of how it was with Rudak and if that if if we can get Bowman to be Rudak and you know maybe he does take Cade's spot and I like Cade I think Cade could be Rudak with maybe a little bit better arm um but I mean that's all you need at a quarterback we saw how well it worked out with Jake you know for um one year a years, can't remember how long he was there. But I mean, 10 win seasons, that's where Michigan's at. You know, you're not going to see anything much better than that until they start recruiting a little bit better.
Starting point is 00:12:54 I mean, especially with Ohio State every year, that's almost a guaranteed loss, it seems like. But it's nice to see that veteran presence. That's for sure with Bowman. I think that's a good call that he would probably be mostly the second string guy and it's probably not gonna be JJ there and I I think too I think the big thing that those guys that the four of those guys bring to the table is just healthy competition right you know I don't think it didn't seem like let's go back to like Shea
Starting point is 00:13:20 Patterson nobody was gunning for his job week in and week out you know it was pretty much his job all the way through his two years at Michigan now it kind of feels like all right you know I if Cade balls out then Cade balls out but if Cade stumbles a few times people are gonna be like all right let's see what JJ has to offer let's see what Alan Bowman has to offer you know I think they're it's good to push those guys along in that whole group to say all right there's yes Cade's going to be the week one starter but those other guys aren't just falling in line Alan Bowman came out and said it I'm sure JJ's feeling the same way JJ wants to be the king of Michigan football and that savior that we you you know, quote unquote, all been waiting for. Right.
Starting point is 00:14:08 So I think that's just like, that's the big thing that stands out to me is all right, they're pushing each other and make each other better. And hopefully that, that pans out over the season. And if, if Cade were to stumble, I think we have a really nice, you know, first four weeks you start off with Western, which is a nice game just to go in I think we have a really nice, you know, first four weeks. You start off with Western, which is a nice game just to go in there. I've never really, like when we started with Notre Dame in 18, I never really liked starting that big game,
Starting point is 00:14:36 even though we had Florida in 17 that we handled pretty well. I just don't like that big game right off the rip. I feel like we're more of the school that needs that week just to see where we're at, see what works. And then heading into Washington week two, I think is the game that, you know, of course we have to play up to our standard in order to win. But of course, if Cade stumbles those next two weeks after Washington, cause I, you know, I doubt he stumbles week one, they start, you know, Alan or JJ the next week, but you know, if he's stumbling pretty bad first two weeks,
Starting point is 00:15:01 you go on and you have Northern Illinois and Rutgers. Of course Rutgers is improving, but to me, it's still Rutgers at the end of the day in the big house. So, you know, those are two games where I wouldn't, you know, wouldn't doubt seeing Harbaugh, you know, throw something in there. If something's not working out, you know what I'm saying? Totally. Yeah. I mean, I, I think here's the thing about, about that too is Harbaugh doesn't have a leash.
Starting point is 00:15:28 He can't just like kind of ride things out and say, hey, this will get better in the future. If things aren't going well towards the beginning of the season, he's going to have to try to make a change to show to the athletic department, the administration, the fans that, hey, we've got pieces here and we're going to make changes until it works. You can't just say, all right, we've got Cade. He's going to figure it out. They don't have time to figure it out. So I think that leash for pretty much every position, but specifically that quarterback leash is going to be short and it's going to say, all right, Kate, if you can't figure it out, then we'll see if JJ can. JJ can't figure it out, then we'll see if Alan Bowman can. If Alan Bowman can't figure it out, we'll see if Dan Valari can. All that stuff.
Starting point is 00:16:09 And so the other thing, on a different note, Dan Valari said on their podcast, he's 240 pounds. Dude. That is a world. That's a unit. That is a unit. I mean, I heard that. I was like, and hopefully we'll have him on the pot at
Starting point is 00:16:26 some point because i need to ask like dude are you lining up at fullback like ben mason like oh my god you're like that's insane well they said too he's the only quarterback i don't know if he's the only quarterback in uh college football right now that's that's live and actually getting hit at practice but he's like dude i love it like i love i want to run people over and i want to do anything i have to do to help my team win i'm like that's the fucking guy you need that's the guy like what do you say to your teammate in practice when the qb just destroyed you the scout team dan valari up the middle just takes it to Mike Barrett. Platinum.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Incredible. I love that though, man. And I just love that. Honestly, I love that idea of him. Because I've been at practice when they throw that third or fourth stringer in and they go, all right, we're going live. The defense is just licking their chops, ready to eat. Because they've been going half-ass the whole time just to wrap up. And now they're waiting for that.
Starting point is 00:17:30 So usually that quarterback is running for his life for Dan Valari to go in there and be like, bring it on. I'll hit you back as hard as you're going to hit. I love it. I think that makes just the energy of practice. You know, I'm making myself buy in even more right now, but I think that does have an impact and change how practice goes. If all of a sudden he pops a linebacker and puts them on his ass for a minute, everyone's like, Oh shit. All right.
Starting point is 00:17:57 It gets a little hype and then the juices get flowing more and more. I also, I also like the, i guess let me let me explain when i say i like when harbaugh came out and said you know they're going to use him in sort of a pace and you know taste some hill style i really do like that i think he's perfect for it of course if he's up to 240 now that's even better you know you got a quarterback that can you know take it right up the middle if he has to um but the one thing that of course i've seen in past years is when we run those certain formations especially like hassan haskins and the wildcat it it was effective so like 50 50 of the time but like it
Starting point is 00:18:36 came to a point when you know we're fourth and one against ohio state in 19 and we're sitting there fourth and one hassan haskin comes out what what are we going to do yeah we're sitting there fourth and one Hassan Haskin comes out what what are we going to do yeah we're going to run the ball everyone knows you well you're going to do that yeah so I'm I'm also I'm in a I'm in a sense where I really hope they have some packages for them it might may not might not be you know much passing but even like a sort of a triple option kind of thing you know you fake the inside handoff and you know you go speed option on the outside just to see just to have you know many more options than two guys because they know right when Dan Bellari comes in and they've ran it 40 out of 40 times every time he's in the game you know what I'm saying now they're aiming down to two players at least at a
Starting point is 00:19:18 third and have another option in there and I'm curious to you know as to how fast Dan is right like he's a he's a mobile quarterback right he's listed as a mobile quarterback but I mean you look back to every time it's fucking on even though I know the end result I watch it the 2016 Ohio State game right Peppers is back there and he's you know he's taking a a decent amount of snaps where he's coming in the shotgun and he's running the ball and he's just following his blockers and you assume that you know they're setting up something where eventually in some time in the game he's going to pass the ball now obviously velar is not chipper peppers but if they have something where they i mean maybe he is maybe he is all right you know i won't you know i won't say he's not because i don't know how fast he is but he could be sitting in that heisman chair
Starting point is 00:20:02 on the final four sometime soon here. You know, we never know. But if there's something like that where he can get into the game, you know, as long as it's not disrupting any flow that the offense is already having, where if he can get in the game and it's not just like, okay, we need you for this one play, you know, to kind of go in. I think I'd like that a little bit better, obviously depending how it goes throughout the season. But that'd be fucking sweet.
Starting point is 00:20:32 To add on to that, if they're gonna do something like that don't take kade out so that it's so obvious that that's all you're gonna do like put them both in the backfield or something i don't know something some way and i like what you said dawson if it's a triple option then there are three options of for him to do instead of a wildcat where it's obvious they're going to run up the B gap, you know, or something like that. And I don't want, I don't want that to be like, I don't, do you guys remember a couple of years ago when like they put Dylan McCaffrey in at receiver and it was like a one-off thing. Right.
Starting point is 00:21:02 And they did it once. And that was it. If they're going to use Dan Valari, I want them to, like, actually use him as that Taysom Hill. Put him in. Run a couple plays. Do it, like, throughout the whole game. Make it something that teams really have to prepare for and make him be a real threat. And that's the thing, too.
Starting point is 00:21:19 If he's 240, I mean, he could be a lead blocker. Yeah. You know? He can be versatile right taste some hill type right he can do a little bit of everything i mean he can that'd be fucking sick the thing is i i can i can totally see that i mean if he's 240 he's sitting there you know in the shotgun uh you know about to take the snap you know how many times you've seen college dean slide over to the left or slide over to the right.
Starting point is 00:21:46 There's Hassan Haskins right there, takes the snap, and they're running off, and Dan Bellari is going head-on with a linebacker. I mean, you know, we love it, you know. I'd be all for it. Keep the defense on their toes, even if, you know, you run it. Let's say you don't run it week one, but you pull it out against Washington.
Starting point is 00:22:08 You're sitting there. You've ran it. You've bring three plays this season in this formation to Dan Bellari and you take a step to the right just to get the linebackers talking real quick and you're really not really looking that's like at least you know if it picks up five yards it picks up five yards and it's better than what you know our offense was doing a year ago so I really think it can be effective and then it's also something that now everyone has to prepare for if they make that successful a couple times and everyone's got to prepare for it and so i know last year i i just looked up cam newton's weight because we were comparing joe milton right we can't do this again cam newton 65 245 dan Dan Valaria is 6'4", 240. I mean, are they the same person? I think they might be. Put it on.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Put him on there. Yeah. I was thinking more like Tim Tebow at Florida. I like that, actually. That's a little jump pass against Ohio State and overtime. Okay, I'm just getting ahead of myself. As long as he doesn't block like Tebow did in the preseason, then we'll be good. over-retire? Okay, I'm just getting that out of my mouth now. We can put him a tight end. Put Valaria a tight end.
Starting point is 00:23:07 As long as he doesn't block like Tebow did in the preseason, then we'll be good. Oh, dude, that was terrible. Oh, man. There was a reason he got released. Immediately. That might have been the sole reason, too. Two clips went viral, and it was over for Tim. Sorry, bud.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Alright, so we've talked about Dan Mallory a lot. Let's talk about the rest of the offense, though. So, you know, they've got it seems like they've got a ton of weapons. I mean, again, we're trying to halt, you know, put the brakes in terms of hype and all that stuff. And it's not working one bit. But you look at the depth and at the talent that's on this offense. When you look at running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, you know, who do you see Dawson?
Starting point is 00:23:52 Who's in your head as like, all right, these are going to be our guys, whether it's go to guys or breakout guys. What do you think about the rest of the offense in terms of weapons there? In terms of weapons. And I want to bring up of course as i said i hate you know looking in and reading and stuff you know this early on um but what i really picked up on and i and i totally believe hardball when he said this is this is the best wide receiver room all around that he's had and i'm telling you right now like roman wilson could very well be you
Starting point is 00:24:24 know he's getting playing time last year. A.J. Henning, you know, those freshmen that were playing last year are still are three, maybe three or four or five guys as well. Like we have five or six wide receivers who could very well start on this team. Of course, you have Ronnie Bell leading it. You know, I really like Mikey Saner still, especially after Giles leaving as more of a slot guy. But if you particular weapons, I've heard Cornelius Johnson has come on a ton, but I'm still going to stick as the wide receiving core alone. It's going to be Ronnie Bell. He's ever since his freshman year, every year, he's just been impressing us even more. So I think that's your your main guy. but if i had to pick out one breakout player um i i'll even say this i love hassan haskins but blake quorum just looks he looks
Starting point is 00:25:13 crazy man like i mean this kid is gonna we i mean we saw it in against sparty i don't even really want to bring up that game last year his run on the edge You can get to the edge that last 10 yards, right? When he cuts the corner gone, like there was, there was no touching him. And any other running basket and at least touch near the goal line right there. So I love his speed. I loved his shifty nest, his elusiveness. And I think he has a great football IQ. And of course he has the heart of a good player. You know what I'm saying? He wants to be out there.
Starting point is 00:25:44 He wants to be helping this team win. And of course the sign will heart of a good player. You know what I'm saying? He wants to be out there. He wants to be helping this team win. And of course Hassan will be gone at the end of this year. So I really do expect Blake Corham to take off. Of course, I don't see Hassan losing that, but if we're, we're going to have at least a one-two punch at running back. Of course we've had, you know, word about Donovan Edwards getting some reps in there, but I can only see him getting a couple, you know, just because of his freshman status.
Starting point is 00:26:07 But Blake Corum is going to be a great running back, too, for this team. I love what you said about the running backs, but I'm going to push back very hard on the wide receiver comment from Jim Harbaugh. Because I'm just thinking about the, like, 2017 class. And, you know, I mean mean from top to bottom right it was dpj tarik black oliver martin kakoa nico collins nico collins eddie mcdoom like that was insane and the fact that we didn't like even play in a college football championship with that caliber of receiver room i'm like oh man talk about a missed opportunity and you're looking we're watching dpj and nico collins in the ball out in the nfl right now and everyone i think every
Starting point is 00:26:52 michigan fan watches that we're so happy for them but we're like hurt inside because it's like how did we not figure it out exactly the ball and do that. So go ahead. Especially with that. I mean, the defense we had an 18 and the veteran leadership we had as well. Of course, those guys were technically sophomores then, but those were, those were football players. Like they are your starters. They're sophomores who knew what they were doing. They already had a year under their belt. Of course. I mean, Tariq got injured,
Starting point is 00:27:29 but that 18 team could have, I felt like, you know, of course it was a better offense than years before. I will say that. I think people overlook that. If you look at the point, I mean, we still put, we went into Columbus and put up 39 points. I know we're playing catch up, but at the same time, you know, you're not seeing that as much, you know what I'm saying? So I really like when you're putting up almost 40 points yeah I mean if you go into that game and you tell me 10 minutes before kickoff we're putting up 39 today I'm like oh we're winning there's no way this defense gives up 39 right of course you know you know how that one double it right yeah literally um all right yeah no I I agree with you with Blake Corum I I agree with you on on a lot of
Starting point is 00:28:05 that stuff i think you know it'll be what i like about blake quorum too is he's got this or at least he's had the speed in the past right and now it seems like he's put on a ton of muscle so if he can not only be that edge guy and sweeps or whatever else but can be can run between the tackles at the same time that gives Josh Gaddis a lot more opportunity to get him the ball. Right. And so it can't now, and now what that means too, is I think people realize or started to figure out, all right, when Hassan Haskins is in, they're running it up and up the gut,
Starting point is 00:28:40 they're running in between the tackles. If quorum's in, they're probably doing something on the edge. That's pretty easy to defend. If those guys can both do both of those things, that makes it a lot harder for those linebackers to keep track of those guys. So it'll be interesting. I also think like, all right, if we're talking, you know, how many plays, how many carries each guy's going to get, let's say that they carry the ball or they run the ball 30 times in one game you know on average uh total you know i'm looking at hassan getting i don't know 15 to 20 uh well let's say 40 times a game hassan's getting like 8 15 to 20 i want to see Blake get maybe 10 to 12 or something like that. And then Edwards gets six to seven, eight, somewhere in that range.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Okay. I like that. I think when it comes to Blake, you know, as you said, the outside thing, even if it's not 10 to 12 running plays, I think we're going to use him as, you know, a running back screen kind of kind of player. I would not be surprised like that we've seen that in the past uh with certain running backs so you know that's what i guess what i'm excited for is you do not have to technically hand the ball off to this guy 15 times you can do that eight to ten times and then you have two to three plays where you can you know throw it through a screen pass you know on the outside and while we're on the outside.
Starting point is 00:30:09 And while we're on the topic of quorum, I don't know if you guys saw this. Our guy Clayton Safey put up a picture of Mike Hart. And when he when he was doing media today and Clayton said, asked, he asked Mike said, if Blake quorum reminds Mike Hart of himself. And Hart says he works a lot harder than I did a little, little subtle thing, but that got me very excited to see Corum on the field. I think he said he had a quote too, that he's he looks like me, but faster too. Oh, definitely faster. Yeah. Listen, if, I mean, obviously we're like setting them up for failure there. If you're Mike Hart, but faster, you're the greatest running back of all time. In Michigan history, right?
Starting point is 00:30:49 Yeah. But I do think he's got a lot to prove. I think they can use him in a lot of different ways, to your point, Dawson. And so I'm excited to see this offense. You know, it was interesting to hear Josh Gaddis come out and say, we want to run the ball more. Well, that must mean that he trusts that offensive line and he trusts that, that running back room and wants to get them to ball more, which, you know,
Starting point is 00:31:10 that's people will, will hate me for this, but that's Michigan football, right? Like I know that's Michigan football in 1980 and two in the two thousands and all that, but that's what Michigan football is best. And guess what? You know, even in the, in the world of 2021 college football and ever a lot of people air it out, Ohio state, Alabama Clemson, they have sweet running backs that run the ball hard. You have to run the,
Starting point is 00:31:35 you have to be able to run the ball because running the running game, if you have a successful running game, it's going to open up the passing game. It'll keep the defense on their toes. And I've seen that with Ohio state is the reason why they're so successful on offense yes they've had their running backs and you know Dobbins and uh Zeke and all them you know who can blow off those 80 yard already 80 yard runs but I mean even with Master T you know he's not that type of player but if he's giving you four or five yards of carry that's setting I mean, you're going in second and five, basically every single drive. I hate to say it, but the Ohio's offense is kind of,
Starting point is 00:32:11 I want to say fun to watch because of course we don't want to go there. It's not fun to watch on our end, but if you, as a football fan, if you sit down, if you sit down and watch them play, you're like, why can't this be us? Why can't we make it look this easy? Really? We've had this conversation a million times a million times i mean the whole family that's right well even a worse feeling yeah i really think you know i i like us running the ball more i i wouldn't say that just yet of course we haven't seen it but i like how gaddis said we'd like to run the ball more because i think after last year we've seen you know we we haven't had a quarterback who can sling the rock like a mac joan you know what i'm
Starting point is 00:32:49 saying that can come in second or third year and just light up college football so and that comes with a good running back you know you have to have a good running rushing attack and when you don't and you're only getting two to three yards of carry, it's going to hold the passing game back. Yeah, I mean, you look at right now, I saw Matthew Barry's top breakout players for 2021 in fantasy. The top two were Travis Etienne and Ajay Harris. So those are the two running backs for those teams that we're talking about that do air it out and obviously get to the college football playoff and win championships.
Starting point is 00:33:23 So it definitely starts there. That's for sure before you can just throw it around. So, all right, well, let's move to the defense then on the defensive side of the ball, a lot of different changes, a lot of new stuff. I'm, you know, it's kind of fun to hear these guys talk about it too. Now that in camp, you know, they're getting interviews and doing press conferences and stuff. And, and I saw Dax Hill came out and talked about it. He said that people aren't going to recognize this defense.
Starting point is 00:33:51 He said there's a lot that they're disguising and different stuff. So with that being said, you know, without it being just regular old Don Brown's defense, how do you see all these players reacting or fitting into that defense who do you think is gonna stand out in that defense and who's gonna have a big impact um well as you said a lot of new faces and correct me if i'm wrong but i think the only returning defensive coach is sean newa correct correct so i mean you have a linebacker coach, a DB's coach, you know, all that stuff. It's completely brand new. Mike McDonnell, great hire.
Starting point is 00:34:29 I think this was a great hire. He brought in a young guy who has NFL experience. He didn't go pick someone off of Bama, Georgia, LSU. You know, and he trusted his brother's word. And I really liked how he came out and said, John Harbaugh was telling me, his brother, like, we're going to name this guy a Ravens DC here in the coming years. And, you know, John, just loving his brother and loving Michigan was,
Starting point is 00:34:51 gave him his word, like hire this guy. He's going to do something. So I'm really excited about, of course, when I was saying the culture, I really see it more on the defensive side, Dax Hill, you were bringing up saying some stuff. I'm pretty sure I just saw a quote either today or yesterday saying they feel more free. Dax Hill said they can show more of their talent. You know, they're not being held back anymore. And, of course, I don't think that was, you know, Don Brown's thing was holding players
Starting point is 00:35:18 back, of course, you know, he's a coach. But it just wasn't working out anymore. Changes had to be made. We got something made. And I think the position group that will take the biggest step forward is the DBs. Of course, I don't think they could go any lower than what they were doing last year. No offense to those guys, but I mean, it just was not working playing them on islands like that.
Starting point is 00:35:38 So implementing the zone like that one guy who I think will really benefit off of this and who has been causing buzz in camp is DJ Turner. We read on, I think a week or two ago that he's catching up to Vincent Gray in reps with the first team. And I would not doubt that at all, because I feel like, you know, you have Vincent Gray who was in the Don Brown system for what, four years, three, four years. So he's so used to that offense playing man-to-man all those years and then you bring in dj turner this will be a pretty sure third year redshirted his freshman year got a couple you know a couple reps in uh last year as well um but i really think this
Starting point is 00:36:16 is something to look out for because i thought when it came down to green and gray last year i thought jimon green was really taking improvement steps throughout the season. I saw from week one, last week against Penn state, this guy was improving. I thought gray was a little slower in that regard and improvement. I just saw a green take off. So I would not doubt that word. I I'd call that really smoke. I'd buy into that smoke of DJ Turner being that guy who's really pressing on Vincent gray for that, you you know second corner spot I know I was talking about before before the season last year
Starting point is 00:36:51 like Vincent Gray was like you know I was really excited to watch him play because the year prior you know he had played pretty solid and I think like you said you know he kind of yeah he didn't live up to what everybody was kind of expecting so i'd love to see vincent gray have a little bounce back year but i loved what we saw out of uh jim on green i mean he he came up stepped up played really solid and if he can play well and dj turner's playing well and george johnson is is coming up like you guys talking about him in practice and then you got jack so safety i mean i think the secondary can be uh solid for sure yeah solid especially and even if it's not great it's a big step from last year and of course the success from the dbs the d-line helps that you know if you're putting pressure on the quarterback that will take the
Starting point is 00:37:35 weight off the shoulders of the corners but i mean it was it was even it was harder for the d-line to do it when every single play you were running man-to-man. So I think implementing zone will kind of take that weight off the shoulder, the D-line backs. But that's, of course, another position group I'm excited for is the D-line. You get your veteran back in Aiden Hutchinson. We all know who he is. Probably a future first-round draft pick. Mozzie Smith you've been hearing a lot about in pictures.
Starting point is 00:38:02 He looks huge. He looks ripped, a lot more toned. He looks huge. He looks ripped a lot more toned. He looks ready to go a lot more faster. Um, Chris Hinton, you know, I, I still think he's right there. I mean, this is a guy who has the potential, the potential. I'm not saying he will, but he has the potential that, you know, to go in the first three rounds of this year's draft. If he, you know, plays what he's expected to play. So'll be interesting uh i think that second defensive end spot um i'm i'm pretty sure upshaw will probably take that spot um just to begin the season but you know mike morris is right behind them um i've heard you know gabe newberg's looks a lot better
Starting point is 00:38:39 um so players like that i think the defense the defense will have a lot of experimenting in the first few weeks until we really have a set. These are 11 guys who are playing three-fourths or more of the game. But I really do see a lot of experimenting just because, you know, you do have those battles. D.J. Turner catching up. Mike Morris, you know, right behind Taylor Upshaw if he's on the strong side with Aiden. And then, of course, the linebacker units open up for grabs too. Of course you have Mike Barrett coming back. You have Anthony Solomon in that room.
Starting point is 00:39:14 Green Hill or Hill Green, excuse me. I thought one of our biggest losses in the off season was Mohan, William Mohan, losing him to Tennessee. I've heard in camp last year how he was really taking off and could see some reps. But, of course, he was a lone Viper player. And once we got rid of Don Brown, you know, I guess that was, you know, that was his position. It's not there anymore. And he wasn't really sent in anywhere else.
Starting point is 00:39:40 So you just got to wish him the best of luck at Tennessee. But I'm excited. I'm optimistic about this defense. I think the offense is more predictable. You know, you can, you know what certain players are probably going to do, but this defense is Aiden Hutchinson, Dax Hill. You could bring in Mike Barrett. You can, you can say something about Chris Hinton,
Starting point is 00:39:59 but all the rest of those guys are just being big time playing time for, you know, the first time this year. For sure. For sure. And so, I mean, the, the thing that I think about this defense is even if they aren't unbelievable, we probably still have a pretty good buffer for at least the first part of the season that nobody knows what, what they're running, you know? And so other teams are just strictly getting used to them
Starting point is 00:40:25 running a new defense and looking at new film that they're what you know and they're not going to open up the whole playbook against western michigan i have to imagine on defense right on the defensive side of the ball so that helps them where you know they don't have to be perfect they don't have to be this top five defense to be impactful for Michigan. They just have to do their jobs. I mean, I love what you said about Dax Hill saying, you know, he's free to let Dax Hill has about the most talent of any guy in America. right I don't want him strictly on one guy or one little plane I want him to have the freedom there to go ahead and I saw this a little bit last year I think it was more not that he had freedom but he had to make up for other guys on the field where he started on one side of the field and end up making the tackle on the other you know that's what Jabril Peppers did three four years ago whatever that was so for him to be able to do that and then hopefully he the the corners can make can do their job enough where he does have the freedom and doesn't have
Starting point is 00:41:30 to have in the back of his mind oh shit i gotta you know make sure this guy's covering this guy and this guy's covering this guy so uh you know the other guy i thought i i heard a lot about was rj moten uh you know back there that he's being, getting more comfortable as a play caller and calling out the coverages that they're going into and the scheme. So I don't, I see the defense making a pretty big step forward. I agree with you. I agree there. I want to add on to that because Devin Garner, of course, former quarterback at Michigan, I recently, but it's probably about a month ago, it was like a five-minute interview. And he was talking about, you know, a lot of the defense really relies, and this is my biggest thing about, you know, this Harbaugh era, is we have not had a quarterback come in and just to completely take control of this team. And Devin Gardner went on to say, and he brought up a great point,
Starting point is 00:42:30 a great point in saying defenses will play better when your quarterback is playing good. You look at Tom Brady and he brought up, he brought up a lot of professional teams that he said, look at Tom Brady. And of course the Patriots defense was, you know, great under, it still is great. Of course they had this COVID issues this year or this past year, but you know, when Tom Brady is out there, that defense knows if they give up seven, their quarterback's going to go right back and get it right back. And you can even see that in college, you know, when you have a good quarterback playing putting points up,
Starting point is 00:42:56 even the week one game against Minnesota, the way Joe Milton was playing, that defense will put, I mean, after, you know, that, of course, the first drive that first five minutes of that game was the most Michigan start ever to a season, after, you know, that, of course the first drive, that first five minutes of that game was the most Michigan start ever to a season, but, you know, just, just the way they were playing, you know, after, you know, the offense started to get high. I mean, they were, they were locked down. I think it was one, one touchdown in the second half. That's all it was. They were locked down. And then, you know, when they're struggling, you saw how that went.
Starting point is 00:43:21 So I really think Michigan's biggest problem right now is they need a great quarterback. I'm not going to hide it. They need a great quarterback. I'm not saying this guy has to be, you know, in the Heisman race or anything like this. But this guy has to make plays. He has to be better. And if that's not, I think it can take the defense from a top 20, top 15 defense into a top 10 defense just because they have that confidence in their quarterback.
Starting point is 00:43:49 I'd love to have a Heisman QP, though. Oh, I mean, yes. Joe Milton, right? That's what we thought, man. That's what we thought. We got our boy Dan. Tennessee, September 2nd. I'm tuning in.
Starting point is 00:44:03 There you go. Oh, yeah. I definitely agree. I think tuning in. There you go. Oh, yeah. I definitely agree. I think it goes kind of both ways. If you trust your – as a defense, if you trust your offense, you're going to feel more comfortable out there. As an offense, if you trust your defense, if you go three and out, you trust your guys that they're going to get you back the ball.
Starting point is 00:44:22 You know, if you on defense let up that seven, you trust your guys to they're going to get you back the ball you know if you on defense let up that seven you trust your guys to go get seven back then that's how you win football games because you're not you don't start pointing fingers you don't start playing tight because you think that all you I can't make any mistakes those are that's how you know that's how teams really succeed here and especially college football with such young guys that are, you know, it's tough. They have a lot of freaking pressure on them, you know, and there's a lot going on. You're 19 years old and you got a hundred thousand people watching you. I mean, that's insane. And then there's how many million more on TV.
Starting point is 00:44:58 And, you know, and this may for, I was thinking about this, you know, when we were talking, you know, hoping to have Alan Bowman and Dan Valerian, neither of them have played at Michigan in front of a crowd. How many guys, half this roster hasn't played in Michigan stadium. Any sophomore or freshman hasn't played in the stadium in front of a crowd or in front of any crowd in college football. So like, that's going to be a factor. Some guys, they may show out in practice, and then you go out in a game, and it's like, holy shit, you start hyperventilating, and you freak out after you make one mistake.
Starting point is 00:45:36 But if you have a guy, not only on the other side of the ball, but if you have a guy next to you that's got your back, which it seems to your point, bringing it all the way back to your beginning point of them, just simply commenting on each other's Instagrams and having a more family feel. If you feel like the guy that you're lining up next to has your back, you're going to feel more comfortable and not like, shit, if I screw up one time here, I'm coming out. You know, I actually saw Aunt Wright put it out and this is it's uh talking more Michigan basketball but I think it relates here he said Terrence Williams back in uh one of the
Starting point is 00:46:13 games I can't remember which one it was he like made us a bad mistake but he didn't look back at the the bench he didn't look at Juwan to see if he was going to take him out he trusted that juwan trusted him that he's going to come back down to the floor and make a good play next time that's juwan howard's leadership and that's how i'm hoping it translates into football where these guys now trust each other they trust the coaching staff that hey we've worked our asses off all year long we think it's going to translate to the to the field on Saturday and let's get tackle this thing together that was quite the soapbox but no oh yeah I love that so I I wanted to ask you guys too there now that we're talking both offense and defense who do you think by the end of the year are we going to be saying is more carrying this team? Do we have a great offense that's carrying a decent defense?
Starting point is 00:47:07 Or even a good offense, you know, what's the balance going to be like? Is it the defense carries us and the offense kind of, you know, moves it along? What are your guys' thoughts there? Oh, that's tough. That's tough. Yeah. Yeah, that's tough. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:47:25 I mean, I think I want to say defense, but it depends on Mike McDonald and how all that goes down. I would like to say offense just because I want to see some excitement and get some points on the board. But right now my gut feeling says defense. Okay. But I could be 100% wrong. Yeah, I think this could literally go either way um just because
Starting point is 00:47:47 there's so much optimism on both sides of the ball um if i had to pick one i'm i want to go defense as well i really do um but i'm gonna offense. And I say that because they don't have as many spots to fill up. You know, basically that whole line returns, except for Jalen Mayfield, which is a big blow, but you know, it's a lot of familiar guys. That wide receiving core is basically back except for, I think that's everyone, right? Nico. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:23 So you get that basically that whole wide receiver back room back, you get the running backs basically back, you lose Charbonnet to a transfer, but you know, it's not like it killed us. Cause you got Coram and Edwards right behind Haskins. But I would say the offense and that is because not as, not as many holes to fill, as many you know I guess coaching changes and I believe that running back room is really going to carry this team and when I said I'm in recent years when you go Michigan needs to run the football more we're like oh hell no
Starting point is 00:48:59 you know what I'm saying but if Dadis wants to come out and say that this year, I, I was two years ago, this was an 18. I'm pretty sure I'm sitting there around the dinner table. And my dad will tell you this. He'll tell, he'll brag about all his friends. It's like my son. And he's telling me my cart needs to come back to Michigan and coach the running backs. I was like, pay that, especially after this season, I'm like, pay this man, the bag, look what he did at Indiana. Indiana's been already saying in camp, they can tell a difference with Mike Hart gone. All right. Mike Hart is a great coach. He was a
Starting point is 00:49:32 great player, of course. Of course, you want to add the Michigan man title to him just to, you know, put some more Kool-Aid into the stomach. But at the same time, he's working with three great running backs. And I think this team can take a step forward if that running back room is, you know, what we might think it could be. And I agree with you there. I think Mike Hart is filling a hole that we've really noticed since Wheatley left back in 17, 18, whatever it was. So if, if it can get back to that, where, you know, you can be, you can be reliant on the, on the running game and that, I mean, that changes everything. We talked about it already for like 20 minutes on this podcast,
Starting point is 00:50:13 but I think Mike Hart fills that hole. He brings that energy intensity. He knows, I mean, he's been there, he's done it himself. So man, I'm excited. God damn it. I am. I haven't played a fucking game. I'm back. I'm back. Again, I don't think I'm buying in. I'm just more of excited. I'm optimistic.
Starting point is 00:50:33 I'm really optimistic. I'm anxious to see this team play. Of course, I think I'm pretty sure all of us will be there week one to see it in person, which makes it 10 times better, of course course 10 to 15 beers deep at noon um but either way um yeah i'm i'm just excited to see this team play um i'm not bought in completely but i'm bought into the hype that you know what at the end of the day michigan football's back 110 000 you know packed filled big houses back you know we get a week two night game in the big house prime time days out I think this is I've had uh Mike Barrett commented on my post I wish I could go back to uh retrieve it um but he commented on my post I posted this is just randomly one of
Starting point is 00:51:18 the summer posts you know just just to get something out there um it was a picture of the Nebraska game in 18 I was like could could Michigan pull off something like Penn State does? And Mike Barrett commented, like, why not? Why can't we do that? And I'm like, you're telling me. Let's do this shit. You know what I'm saying? Let's do it.
Starting point is 00:51:34 So I'm really glad that it's also, you know, week two. It's still warm out. You don't have people bundled up in big, you know, North Face coats or anything like that. People are going to wear Mays. I think we're going to have a good turnout. Of course course i don't think it's going to be the white out flash mate you know it's not going to be like that but it's going to be fun man it's going to be you know something that i think this program could build on and have
Starting point is 00:51:55 maze outs in the future let's build on this shit let's build on this shit boys what happens when we win out huh what happened who's gonna remember all those uh fucking games all right one game later one game later oh yeah all right let's hope that at the very least that kate has like worked on his speech uh so let's hope that he can he can lead a little bit better there um all right so let's do a couple more things two two more things here before we uh before we head out one thing so you talked about it earlier let's do a score uh record prediction i don't know if you guys saw this scott scott bell put out a thing with like all the media writers predictions a lot of seven and fives no yeah i believe that fives eight and
Starting point is 00:52:46 fours so i don't want a spoiler if anybody's gonna say anything like that but that was uh i was i was surprised how many people which i shouldn't be how many people went on the lower end rather than being more optimistic but they seem like they're more rational than we are probably here. Which I, which I like. I liked how we came out. I mean, we're going into this season unranked. We don't need to be, well, of course we don't deserve to be, we can sit here. And as I said, this team was better than two and four, but at the end of the day, we went two and four, we got our ass kicked.
Starting point is 00:53:21 We Wisconsin came into the big house and beat us by what 30 was, whatever it was, you know, and that that's embarrassing it really is you know to have a wisconsin team come in and hang but i think 40 points up on you and you lose by 30 in the big house at night um if i had to pick uh i think the perfect line where i'd put us at is eight and a half um of course i could lean to nine and three. And as I said, I just want to see this team play first before I buy in, you know, just to see where we're at. But I could very well see, you know, seven, five, eight, and four, but I don't see us losing this party again.
Starting point is 00:53:57 Sorry if we got any state listeners out there, but your team's still, I hate to say it, even though you beat us, fair and square, GGs, we're still the better team, you know, we have the better roster by far, we should beat Sparty, you know, we should beat, of course, Rutgers, we should beat Northwestern, I think, you know, you have Indiana at home, we should be able to beat Indiana at home, there's no reason Indiana, I like Indiana as a team this year, but they're coming to the big house it'll be a 330 game most likely I don't see that game or I guess big noon kickoff nowadays you know it might be a 12 but you're coming to the big house in front of 110,000 people you're Indiana you beat us once since 1986 and that was last year give or take that but I just don't see us losing to of course it could happen I say that we said this last year – of course, it could happen. I say that. We said this last year.
Starting point is 00:54:45 You know, I said it last year going, oh, we can't, you know. Who predicted it would go two and four? You can't possibly. Yeah. Yeah, I know. So, I just don't see us losing to those teams. You know, of course, Wisconsin, Penn State, that could all happen again. But I'm going to go eight and four right now.
Starting point is 00:55:03 Of course, it could be 9-3. It could be 7-5. But I don't see it going under 7-5, and I don't see it going over 9-3. I think that's a pretty solid prediction there. I think you're right. I think you're pretty spot on there. I would say 8-4 as well for myself. And here's the kicker that I think it'll be though.
Starting point is 00:55:27 It'll be just good enough that Ward says, well, they showed some progression. So we're going to keep Jim on for one more year. They've got Kate or JJ or fill in the blank to say, you know, we want to give Mike McDonald in the defense one more shot here. It'll be just good enough to keep that going for one more year, not bad enough to get him canned, but not good enough to, like, make anybody actually happy. That's my real prediction there.
Starting point is 00:55:55 I could see that. I don't see them, of course. We've all – I mean, most fans have said it. I don't see them firing Harbaugh. I think he'd step away. And if it came to the point where he did pull a 6-6 record this year, I think Ward goes up to him and be like, let's just part ways. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:56:13 They're not going to go out and fire him. They're not going to do anything like that. But, I mean, I can't sit here and say I'm glad we kept Harbaugh, but I'm fine with it. I really think he is a good coach, and he's had a lot of weight on his shoulders ever since he got to Michigan. So if they're going eight and four and even nine and three, if we hit nine and three this year, I'm like, let's get to 2022, man.
Starting point is 00:56:37 I mean, let's run this thing because we're going to have quite a bit. I mean, we'll lose Aiden, we'll lose Dax, we'll lose, you know, Ronnie. You know, we'll lose certain players, but, you know, we got most of this squad coming back the next year. Love it. All right. There you go. You got me hyped for 2022 already. Are you looking ahead?
Starting point is 00:56:55 Involare starting quarterback. There you go. Let's go. I'm fully in. All right. Well, here's how I wanted to end it with a little fun thing. So the reason I, I wear my drop by noon hat that you can get at the blue by 90 shop, uh, at blue by 90 or what is it?
Starting point is 00:57:14 Not at blue by 90 dot my Shopify.com or you can go to either our Instagram or Twitter and hit the link in bio. This guy's don't even know their own website. I know. Hey, don't let me in with him. Don't let me in with him me in with him uh oh there you go there's the blue by 90 hat too um you you mentioned the big noon kickoff so i we've got gear you gotta get drunk by noon if it's a big so so we've got drunk by noon gear we've got a lot of different stuff on there uh we might even release some new stuff tomorrow we'll see we'll see how it goes so by tomorrow probably today if you're listening to this so uh i'm friday but um you know i personally because i'm a tailgating enthusiast and some would call it a
Starting point is 00:57:56 psychopath but i am already thinking about my my tailgate outfit okay so i want to know i want to know and we're i'm i know everybody's you better order your gear you know soonish to try and get it for that first game right if you're if you're ordering it whether it's from us the mden whatever else you miss cheese whatever it is i want to know dawson what is your do you have anything planned out or what's your typical tailgate on for the first game of the year probably going to be like 90 degrees and we're just sweating our balls off in the stadium I usually get one seat that just has the sun on me for the entire game but uh I want to know what are you going to be what's your fit looking like uh come September 4th
Starting point is 00:58:43 come in September 4th um as you said it's probably going to be 90-some degrees outside. It's going to be a hot one. But I haven't been to a very – I guess I went to Middle Tennessee in 19. But the early on in the game seasons, I guess maybe 1 in 18, but not a lot. Not a lot, I guess, as I've gotten older into college. So I think I'm going to rock a Michigan polo. It's got the helmet. It's got the helmet, a little helmet emblem.
Starting point is 00:59:13 He's got the Jordan. You got to rock the Jordan. And I might pull off the preppy look for week one. I'm not even going to lie. I'm going to rock the Michigan polo, some nice dress shorts and Sperry's. You know, I'll walk in and be like, you know what? Michigan football is back. You know, I'll walk in and be like, you know what? Michigan football is back. You know, I'll bring my Michigan football ego with me.
Starting point is 00:59:29 I'll bring my high ego. Well, that's the, that's how they do it down South, man. I love the Southern tailgates. Girls are dressed up. Guys got their polos, you know, khaki pants on or whatever. Let's bring that up North. I totally agree. I could not agree more with you. I'm a, I'm a, I like to dress well. I have a lot of dress short options.
Starting point is 00:59:48 I think I got two Michigan polos. But, of course, you guys will see one of them, maybe two. You know, you guys will be there week two. I'm going back-to-back. I'm making the three-hour trip back-to-back weeks to see the boys play. It's worth it, man. Oh, it's 100% worth it. 100% worth it. 100% worth it.
Starting point is 01:00:06 Slamming beers on the golf course, getting ready for a big-time football game. Oh, yeah. So, yeah, I'd have to say the polo, some dress shorts, and some Sperrys. There you go. All right. I like that look.
Starting point is 01:00:17 Do you guys got anything in mind? Kalen? Bro, what was the saying again from down south? We never lose. Is that what it was? Yeah. Never from down south? We never lose. Is that what it was? Yeah. Never lose a party. We never lose a party.
Starting point is 01:00:30 Never lose a party. I love that. Maybe we got to put out a shirt like that. We've never lost a tailgate. So, no, I like that a lot. All right, there you go. So, you know, you can go, if you're looking to get something new for your fit for september 4th or the 11th or whatever else go to go to blue by 90 uh blue by 90.myshopify.com
Starting point is 01:00:54 good job there you go all right i got that right so we'll drop some new shirts here uh on friday and then we'll uh you know we're gonna keep dropping new stuff as we uh as we maybe bring on some new partners we maybe uh come out with some uh new things during the season as things come up so it'll be fun so we'll have to get you a hat or a shirt or something too dawson we got to have you rocking some of our gear at some hey drunk by noon man there you go love it all right well Dawson thank you plug yourself one more time here what's your what are your ads uh IG I'm at Michigan underscore insiders and over on Twitter I'll be at UM underscore insiders you'll probably see me more active on the Twitter side come game day um just because of course it's a lot easier but most of my what I share a lot of the news that
Starting point is 01:01:43 I uh break from other insiders is usually on my Instagram page nice all right cool so and do you have anything like we should be looking forward to anything special coming up are you doing any predictions on there or anything like that I am right before the season starts I'll be bringing in my big 10 predict projections predictions so I'll basically give a record, my prediction of record for each big 10 team who will be in the big 10 championship. But yeah, I'm just covering the big 10 this year. I'm not going game by game or anything like that.
Starting point is 01:02:16 As I was telling you guys, I don't want to buy in completely. I don't want to, I just want to lay back this year, kind of enjoy it myself a little bit. And just, you know, just to see how the season plays out. Because, you know, we've been through hell these past two years with COVID and, of course, how the season went last year. So I guess that's the main thing. But nothing too big, I guess, until the season starts.
Starting point is 01:02:39 So I'm excited, man. I'm just ready. We might have to, depending on where you're at, if you're in the game or whatever, we might have to, like, where you're at if you're in the in the game or whatever we might we might have to like go live with you on uh a halftime or something oh i would love to um me and cam did that uh last last year um for at least the first couple games when you know when it was when people were excited yeah when people were excited um but i love that uh i would i would love to do that love to do that with you guys,
Starting point is 01:03:05 if we can get connection inside the big house. Right, yeah, that's a tough thing. All right, yeah, we'll figure something out.
