All right, welcome back to Blue by 90.
I am Justin, joined by Jack and Kalen as always.
And today, we've probably got our most special guest we've had on.
It's a guy we've talked about for a while.
We've put on a Heisman campaign for him already so he's got a got a lot to live up to here but Dan Valari Michigan quarterback Dan thanks for
joining us how you doing appreciate the love thanks for having me on how you guys doing
good man good and you've got your own podcast too'd say. We can jump right in to kind of plug that a little bit.
You and Bowman.
Yeah, so me and Alan.
Alan hit me up, said, bro, like, you want to do a podcast with me?
And I was like, absolutely, hell yeah.
And, you know, we had four episodes.
And should I get into what happened?
Sure, go for it. Sure, go for it.
Yeah, go for it.
Hell yeah.
We were rolling.
We had Dave Portnoy on.
We were going to get Adam Schefter on.
And then we were terminated by our producer because we weren't talking about Michigan football enough.
You were too popular, man.
Yeah.
You were buzzing too i was gonna say the thing was like i listened to
you guys stuff and it was very entertaining and i was like i don't know i think when when i want
to listen to guys on you know whether it's hoops whether it's football or you know beyond that even
like i'm looking to get to know you guys as people. Right. Like that's what a podcast should be more.
You know, I don't I mean, you can talk maybe like, hey, you know, what's the grind of going through a season or something like that, which you guys did a little bit.
You talked about what camp was like, you know, what's what's it like going into the season?
But like beyond that, you know, I don't know what what they want from you.
So, you know, we'll we'll, we'll take over there.
We'll help you out. We'll we'll get all that.
And you can keep giving the people what they want there.
Appreciate that. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I thought. Like we thought we,
we figured like the people want to hear a little football, but like,
they really just want to get to know us and we wanted to talk about a bunch of things so yeah appreciate that that's the cool thing too I mean
obviously for us we're trying to take a different angle from everything else you hear about Michigan
football right kind of go from the fans perspective and for you guys to go from you know your kind of
player perspective and give a different like like Rose said an entertaining outlook on everything
and kind of just get something that keeps the people coming back
and it's not boring, same stuff over and over.
I mean, keep doing what you guys are doing.
People are loving it so far.
I know we're loving it.
Appreciate that.
Yeah, I mean, we're fun guys, you know.
We're trying to show people that.
And so, all right, we got to know, you know, what was Portnoy like?
El Presidente from Barststool sports you guys had him
on i mean legitimately the like biggest social media man on the earth at the moment right and so
did you just like shoot your shot and we're like shit if we can get this guy on then let's do it
i'm gonna keep it 100 with you guys um so you want to know how we got him on yeah first yeah um i think he had a friend
that was linked with uh barstool so he like hit hit him up and then uh dave said like i went to
michigan like i'll do them a favor and hop on for a little bit and he only hopped on for like a half
hour he had to be somewhere probably a busy dude right he was very very
Hollywood like I I thought he was gonna grow up a little bit with us like we were expecting like
oh man like this guy just gets to know us like maybe he'll lighten up to us but right very
straight up straightforward yeah I thought that was that was hilarious I thought on the episode
you're like nobody can see this but like he had somebody turn the camera off for him
got up out of his chair popped up and just stormed off and somebody turned it all for him
like we felt so small compared to him oh my god yeah there there are times where i'm sure you guys
feel like kind of big dogs on campus.
Right. And then in that moment, you're like, all right, we're nothing compared to this dude.
Me and Alan be like, all right, like we'll come back to that.
Yeah. Hey, that's cool, though. That's a big guest.
And it sounds like you've got some some big big people lined up here and on your next episode too yeah yep uh we're gonna try and get adam chef there on um
i don't even know how we're getting these people on we're not hitting people up but um but yeah we
have his contact info and and we'll try and get him on next i've actually got mexican connections huge
yeah they they love that man i've met him through the m den because he's come and done some signings
and stuff super cool down to earth dude if there was anybody that was going to bro up with you and
just like be a real person i bet it's him so that'll be a good one yeah we need that there
you go well i mean you guys you guys are like the bros like it truly is which
it's so funny too you and Alan obviously I think it's the perfect pairing because you're so polar
opposite right where where where you guys come from Alan comes from down south in Texas uh
obviously originally a Red Raider uh and then you're from, you know, Long Island, right? You're from
up in, in, in New York. And it's just like, the accents are different. The lifestyles are
different. So that's a pretty fun pairing to hear you guys on your podcast. Yeah. So different.
That's why we, we thought it'd be a great idea. And we clicked right away, you know, when he,
when he pulled up. So so yeah it was a good deal
so how did you how'd you guys click so quick i mean what was it that brought you guys kind of
together you know what happened so we were having these walkthroughs um during the summer
and well these like yeah these player-led walkthroughs or whatever and like i'm a guy who
like who can who will get
down to business when it's time to get down to business but like I like to make it fun you know
I like to joke around a little bit with the guys and like but when I have to lock in I'll lock in
but like I'm I'm very like goofy I guess you could say and I noticed Alan just loving it, like laughing his ass off and making jokes with me, asking me about the plays.
And we just like he's a really nice guy. We just like we clicked and then we started throwing together.
He was giving me tips. And yeah, because he has a lot of experience.
So he helped me out with that. So, yeah, now we're good friends.
There you go. That's awesome. And and what about the rest of the qb room because you know alan's like the old guy in the
room right uh kade's you know i don't know you and kate are kind of the same age i'm assuming
he's a year older uh and then you know obviously jj just came in. So you guys aren't, there's no like true, like, because Alan's new, I'm sure it doesn't
feel like there's this, like, you know, seniority guy that's been there forever.
Um, so what's it like the dynamic just between all four of you guys in that QB room?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Alan's not like that at all, but, um, what do you call it?
Uh, it's very, you guys would be surprised.
We're very close. Like we're very
close. It's not like you don't feel any beef or like any, any, any sort of thing like that. Like
we mess around with each other. We got a group chat. We're always talking and we support each
other and it's a really good thing. And, and yeah, I have a blast in that QB room and and yeah well as I say I know
that uh energy kind of surrounding the team has been like a huge huge thing that everybody's been
talking about right this entire year that you know the shift from last year and you were there
here last year too so I mean is that is that the biggest kind of thing you've noticed from this
team and what's the big difference from this year to last year? Why is it like that?
Yeah, I think it's the energy.
You know, in spring ball, coach started playing some music at practice.
You know, it started getting fun.
Like, I don't know what it was exactly.
I guess it was just that bad season.
Like, we knew how to turn it around.
We got a new quarterback coach, Coach Weiss.
He likes to keep it fun.
We love him.
And, yeah, it's just fun now.
So what kind of music does Harbaugh play at practice?
Is it him picking it or is there somebody else?
There's no way it's him picking the music.
I'd love to hear what Harbaugh's picking.
And I don't think he likes it either.
He just tolerates it.
Yeah, but it's like the strength coaches pick it, and they pick something.
Oh, perfect.
Yeah, that's the rap music.
Love it.
Love it.
The big one, I'll tell you, is a big song they like to play is Pump It Up.
I saw you guys are kind of getting into it on the sideline there.
That's a favorite.
That's a favorite. That's a favorite.
All right.
There we go.
Bring it to the big house every game.
Yeah.
We retweeted it.
I said, this is the team's song right now,
so we got to get hype for that one, right?
We got to get the students hype and stuff like that.
So there you go.
While we're on that topic, we got to ask you, too.
All right, yeah.
How do you feel about Mr. Brightside?
I know we know the fans love it, right?
I mean, how do you feel about it?
How do you think the rest of the team feels about it?
It's awesome.
It's sweet.
I wasn't even familiar with that song.
I've heard it before.
But I'm knowing now it's a super popular song.
They sing it at every game.
Is that true yeah yeah yeah
yeah and and and the way the whole everyone's in sync like it's oh it's incredible yeah it's
incredible so then what is jaylen mayfield talking about yeah jaylen you'll say apparently he was on
with um a couple of si guys brandon brown and chris breyler and. Apparently he was on with a couple of SI guys,
Brandon Brown and Chris Freiler, and said – he was like,
yeah, that ain't it, man.
That ain't it.
Like, the players don't like it.
It's not that hype or something like that.
But, like, I don't know.
I feel like you kind of got to feed off the fans that are, like –
it's not, like, a hype song, but, you know.
No, it's not a hype song at all.
But, like, I mean, it's just cool to hear everybody singing something together.
Like, I'm not, like, you know, it's not ruining the game for us.
So, I don't see it.
Right.
There you go.
All right.
There you go.
The people can hear it.
At least one player likes it.
We got that.
You should know how much.
I haven't heard anybody complain about that. All right. There you go. You should know how much like i haven't heard anybody complain about that
all right there you go you should know how much that just meant to row yeah oh i loved it you
loved it i'm a big i'm a big mr brightside fan i just love that it's like you said like
everyone's getting together and doing it together and it makes for a pretty cool atmosphere
right which and it's taken off on social media too yeah Yeah, it has. Like Barstool posted it and all that shit.
They're posting, you know, it must be something pretty cool.
For sure.
By the way, the atmosphere on Saturday night, holy smokes.
I mean, I've heard a couple guys in like post-game interviews and stuff
talk about it and, you know, in their pressers this week.
But like on the field, you know, you press uh pressers this week but like on the field you know you're
on the sideline obviously could how what were you guys just feeding off that what was it like to be
like down in the bowl with looking up at all that maze and just like hearing all that it's like
it's like this like i really i honestly wouldn't want to be anywhere else on a Saturday.
Like, it's just like, we were, me and Alan and like the QBs,
we had a bench mob out there.
We had the smelling salts.
And I must've ripped that smelling salt like 10 times throughout the game.
My nose could have been bleeding.
We were going nuts
and we just sped off like the fans
and like the maze out
like it was sick it was sweet
all blue
uniforms those unis are sick
the fucking sickest things ever
we all love those so much
so I know there's a picture of
it was Will Johnson and Damani Jackson with the
maze top blue bottoms.
That needs to be a thing.
It does, man.
Any word on that?
Can we get Harbaugh to sign off on that one for next year sometime?
I don't know anything about that, but, like, that could be a thing
because that looks sweet.
I saw that.
That was fresh.
Yeah, that was fly.
Yeah. yeah that was fly yeah um i mean listen do you are you all in on like doing different things
in the stadium doing different uniform combos because i think it's like there's this kind of
divide between there's the old tradition and fans right like they love like all right the
winged helmet and all that stuff and that that's a huge part of Michigan's legacy.
But a lot of people also, and I assume most of the players,
because they're younger on this side,
like want to still move into 2021 and do some fun new things.
So where do you stand on that?
Where do you feel like the players and some of these other recruits stand on
all that kind of stuff?
Yeah, I think I'm definitely a guy that would love to try new things.
I understand like the tradition is like a big thing to some people.
And yeah, like you said, like,
I would love to try like some maze uniforms, some blacked out uniforms.
I don't know. Yeah. But I i mean i don't know who makes those decisions
i guess coach harbaugh does but like but at the end of the day it's like it's whatever you know
we're just if we win games it won't matter what we're wearing that's right yeah true um have you
i mean have you noticed a different we talked about the different energy and stuff and we talked
about you know we've you've got all these new coaches.
You talked about your quarterback's coach too coming in,
lightening things up with the music, with all that different stuff.
Have you noticed something new in Coach Harbaugh specifically?
Because, like, even I watch his pressers, and, like, he just looks relaxed.
Whereas, if you watch him, obviously last year most of his pressers
weren't after a good game or something, but just he was always so robotic.
And now it's just, like, seems kind of different.
Are you guys seeing that behind the scenes too?
Honestly, behind the scenes, he's always the same guy no matter what.
He's never a guy who will go crazy on you.
I mean, he will at times, but he's very chill, very positive.
Yeah, I honestly haven't seen any changes.
I haven't watched the interviews either, but behind the scenes,
no, he's always been the same guy.
Interesting.
So I'm curious, have you ever heard the old Harbaugh stories
from when he was like
younger coaching no oh man I know Ro has some I've got some stories too but so my cousin
played at Michigan but my cousin was recruited by him at Stanford um back when he was coaching
there so he's got some recruiting stories from him being, like,
a little bit awkward on the phone and in those visits and stuff like that.
Oh, yeah, I think I've heard one recruiting story, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
But, no, I mean, it's more so, too, like, I think people saw, you know,
if you go back to, like, 2015 Jim when he was here in his first couple years 2016 he was like going nuts on
a sideline throwing clipboard throwing his coat you know all that stuff like going crazy on refs
and he felt like in these last couple years he's toned it down a little bit on that maybe that's
just him getting a little bit older I don't know or maybe he's reeling it back in but if you say he's kind of
the same guy then then i will have to take you for your word there yeah yeah obviously i i didn't
really i never seen that side of coach throwing clipboards and stuff well i guess he has changed
but like yeah like i just got here last year you know right and yeah so so was uh was coach harbaugh was he your primary recruiter
who was your who was your go-to guy when you were coming out of long island it was a mixture of
coach harbaugh and coach mcdaniel's the key quarterback okay yeah and uh yeah it was it was
it was both of them coach so did okay for sure so did he ever come out to any games and, like,
do, like, a family or home visit or anything?
Yeah, any funny recruiting stories from – any good things from Harbaugh?
Yeah, great things.
He came to my school, and him, Coach Gaddis,
and Coach McDaniels came on, like, a Monday or something.
And they came to see me throw at first.
And then after we went out to my favorite pizzeria on the town over
and we sat down, we walk in the place,
and Coach Harbaugh orders a Sicilian slice.
And he's like, can I get some pepperonis?
Can you put it on and they're
like and they're like the guy looks up and he was like he was like doing something on his uh
on his phone or whatever and then he looks up and he's like i saw his jaw drop this kid working the county and he goes yeah yeah we can do that we do that and he's like thank you
thank you and um and yeah that's the funny story but yeah we sat down we had pizza uh it was great
it was really fun great kid was just kid was just starstruck man i was kind of hoping to hear you
say uh you guys got hardwood floors at home and harbaugh wouldn't take his cleats off and i'd love to hear that story comes from come from you no no it didn't happen
oh and uh another thing we were thrown we were uh we were thrown in the gym
and my whole school was lined up outside just watching like
it was pretty sick were you shitting your pants be honest um yes yeah I was and then
yeah pretty much was shitting my pants I mean the first couple throws I was like oh I'm nervous man
and then I started ripping it and it felt good there you. There you go. Danny Dimes, right? That's what we're calling you from now on, right?
Let's go with me.
Hey, the only thing is, if you're going to be Danny Dimes,
we got to get you throwing the ball when you get in the game, right?
I know you're Taysom Hill, apparently,
but, you know, we got to get you throwing the ball.
Yeah, I don't think the fans know that I can throw the ball.
Man, they just got to see.
We got to link them up with Tyler Kresser, man.
That video.
You got to put your highlight up.
All right, let's talk about that.
That was like when we first started hyping you up.
Oh, yeah.
And we were just like, yo, this video is sick.
You guys like that? hell yeah so is that your boy back from uh on long island or like how did you get with him so he made a video
for jordan moran okay safety on my team and i was like wow sick and i hit him up hit tyler presser up and i said yo like let's make a video
like i need i need something like that instagram pop a little bit and he came through to my high
school and we just made a sick video like i was surprised like how sick it was he's honestly
i was like is this pat mahomes after watching, I was like, you might as well have been, honestly.
A lot of people don't know.
A lot of people just see Taysom Hill, Taysom Hill.
But, like, there's more.
We'll put out more video of you ripping it then.
We got to get some practice film of you chucking it deep
or something like that.
But how was it? I mean i mean game one was that your
first time ever getting in a live game did you get in last year no i didn't i was supposed to get in
but it got there but i remember yeah that was my first first couple minutes ever um i mean what
was it like for where i mean obviously you guys were up big so that was
cool i mean the crowd was it was a great crowd for on for a newton you know home opener and stuff but
um what was it like getting in and just being like all right game speed college football
we're in the big house all of that honestly i thought i was to have shit running down my leg. I was actually pretty calm.
I wasn't that nervous.
It wasn't too overwhelming.
I literally thought it was going to be too overwhelming, the whole crowd,
because the most I played in front of is 5,000 at most.
But yeah, I got in there, and it was fun it felt great obviously it was crazy
like just it didn't it almost didn't feel real like that two-point conversion yeah yeah it was
great now you feel like there was a big like difference in game speed from high school to
college or yeah yeah absolutely um and in practice you know in practice
I see it every day so it wasn't like a surprise that Western's speed but yeah definitely a huge
difference like huge especially from where I'm from yeah I mean you yeah you come from kind of
a small town right so it's uh it's it's a little bit different, I'd say.
But what do you think about this offense moving forward?
I know, I mean, Blake and Hassan got it working.
This O-line's got it working.
You know, but obviously everyone's talking about like, oh, my God,
you know, they didn't pass the ball much.
But then Cade came out you
know coach came out and everyone's like that was the game plan they gave it to us we took it you
know that's what it uh that's what we're gonna do but you know do you see you guys starting to air
it out a little bit more and open it up uh come as we as we move forward or what are you thinking about um I think we're gonna do whatever the defense gives
us you know um I totally agree what you just said like if we're running the ball and it and it's
not getting stopped like why would you why would you throw it you know that's like what I did in
high school very much like we would run the ball and it would work. So, but yeah, like at the end of the day, like,
I don't want to speak on anything like game plan wise, but yeah,
but yeah, whatever the coaches decide, like we, we trust them.
Makes sense. Makes sense. I mean,
when those boys up front are dominating like they did, I mean,
it's hard to, hard to argue against that. And you know,
it's been fun to watch Blake and Hassan just go crazy too.
So I'm sure you guys are hyping those boys up as well.
Yeah. The hogs had a field day.
Got to name those guys.
I was going to say we need a nickname for the hogs.
All right. I've always called my lineman the Hogs.
I like that.
I like that.
Yeah, we were talking to Vistardis as well.
He may come on with us next week or something.
That's a great name. So, yeah.
And, I mean, what's it like going in practice against this defense every day?
Because this defense is, mean holy smokes on on Saturday
they were flying to the ball and just going crazy so um well do you go against the ones
um yeah yeah there's times where I go against the ones okay so I mean when you're lining up
across from Aiden Hutchinson and Josh Ross and Nikai Hill Green and all those dudes, are you like – what's your feeling there?
Are you trying to run for your life or what's going on?
It feels like those boys are moving at the speed of light, I'll tell you that.
Especially Hutch, like, it's great work.
I love it because you go up against that defense, like, every day.
Like, Cade goes up against them a lot.
And it's just going to be better for the next defense you face, you know,
because they're unbelievable.
And Coach McDonald got those boys right.
So I love it, yeah.
I was going to say, you're the only live QB, right?
Or has that changed since?
Oh, my God.
It's changed a little bit.
A little bit.
Have you thought about playing hockey in the offseason?
No.
I was like, he's going to be in the batting cage,
like Happy Gilmore in the batting cage, 365 days more.
I would definitely be the goon, though. I don't know you pass me the puck let me just as long as i can skate in a straight line i'm golden exactly yeah yeah hey have there
you guys kind of talked about this on your pod though are there times where you've been uh running
some people over though in practice yeah for sure um oh can you drop some names here yeah
i need to know
if they hear it they're gonna be coming after people over i mean i guess you could say that
but like more of it's just like breaking tackles oh yeah they need to get you in the backfield then it's it's instead of like blake and hassan it's dan
blake and hassan he's like i'm good
i don't know if you saw i don't know if you saw that stat on social or not but
blake had blake had the fastest speed for any player in the country last year or last week on that 69-yard touchdown or 67-yard touchdown run.
Dude was flying.
Was it like a mile per hour?
It was like 22-point-something miles an hour.
Just fucking insane.
That's crazy.
That's crazy.
He hits a hole so quick, it's nuts too.
Oh, I love watching him run.
Yeah. So is he, you think think the fastest player on the team you think jack sale has uh has a run for the money
right there or roman or roman yeah i don't know i don't know i don't want to see that race man
yeah yeah i'd love to see a race but i have I mean, we see, we see you on the sideline though.
Here's what I noticed about you on the sideline while you're hyping,
you know, Kate up when he comes to the,
to the bench or any of those running backs, you got a new towel on you.
Every time I see you, you have one more towel on you.
You have one in the back, you have one on your neck. And then like,
you're just like, I got,
I think we got to like try to set a record or something where like you get like 10 towels on you see how
many you can get from the trainer absolutely yeah the gatorade towel that's my go-to
love it love it and and you rock the jordan headband too
got you gotta have the leg sleeve on, man.
Got to stay fresh
when you're out there.
You're on TV.
Yeah, man.
What do you think
about the Harbaugh
getting the QB ready,
beating him up
before he goes out there?
Oh, I just saw,
I actually just,
last game I turned around,
I never seen that live.
Last game I turned around
after warming up
and I see Coach Harbaugh
just, hey, I'm like, Holy shit. That's awesome. I love it. I love it. I think, uh, definitely gets him fired
up and I can't wait till, uh, he hits me with one of those. He looks like he's not playing either.
He looks like he's pretty good. Yeah. Oh man. Um, the other thing, so thing so um you guys keep talking about this in uh in like press
conferences and stuff like you i think people said it about going into the washington game
um you know and i you hear it all the time right ohio state ohio state ohio state and you guys are
starting to like now like you say you prepare every week for Ohio State.
There even came out last week that you guys have an Ohio drill, a beat Ohio drill. Right.
So, like, tell us a little bit about what that feels like on the inside where you guys, you know, what what what are they doing to pound that into your head, you know, day in and day out?
Yeah, I think we definitely put way more of an emphasis on beating them this year than last year.
I mean, the drill, a bunch of other things.
But, like, I mean, they kind of just remind us a lot now.
Like, we're doing this.
We're going to beat fucking Ohio.
Like, they'll just, like like say little reminders like that um and yeah like we're just putting more of an emphasis on it i
think that's what we needed to do because i saw them you know kicking like putting um
would they have like a michigan jersey on the ground they were like taking it or something
i don't even know.
So, yeah.
Yeah, I mean, I was going to say, I mean, you guys, like you said,
you're hearing it from the coaches.
Anytime we watch a game, we're hearing it on the broadcast about a thousand times.
I know when – I can't remember.
I think it was Molly McGrath maybe after the game last weekend, you know,
after she got done talking to Blake and Hassan about their big day,
she's like, all right, what are you guys doing to beat Ohio state? You know, it's like,
it sounds like it's like, nobody's hearing it more about their rival than you guys are right now.
I mean, it's, it's just insane how much attention it gets. I mean, obviously because Ohio state's
been on a big run. Right. But I mean, you're like you said before, you're feeling it more
than you did last year. I mean, is that something that, you know, gets you guys riled up and, like, ready to, like, let's just fucking play them right now.
We want to kick their ass.
I mean, what's the feeling with the team when that gets brought up so often?
Yeah, I think we love it.
I think that's – we felt like that's what we needed to make that next step um and yeah like obviously
we're gonna focus on our opponent and go week by week one time at a time but like we know who the
real not the real but like we know who the opponent is that we really want and that's that's them love it love it yeah I mean it's it's something I feel like I'm sure that
it was a thing you know in on the inside before right it wasn't like maybe uh you guys didn't
televise it as as much or advertise it or whatever you want to say but like I think there's a good
chunk of people out there that are ignorant and think like oh they never even talked
about Ohio State until the week of November 27th and it's like that's probably not true right um
yeah so I mean you know whatever it takes to get people to make people happy about that obviously
a W is really what it what it comes down to but um I think a lot of the fans are pretty pumped to
to hear you guys putting an emphasis on that and and uh and all that so well we talked think a lot of the fans are pretty pumped to hear you guys putting an emphasis on that and all that.
So, well, we talked about a lot of football. Right. And so we talked about this before we jumped on.
That's like not the point of a podcast. It's not the point of having you on. Right.
So tell us tell us something that maybe people don't know about you?
People don't know about me?
We want to get to know Danny Dimes here on the inside.
Like I told you guys, I like to joke around a lot.
I guess that's something they can know about me.
I was very under-recruited.
I know you guys know that, but I don't know if everyone knows that.
Very slept on, felt like,
felt like I should have been ranked a lot higher than I was. Late bloomer.
Yeah. And everything's starting to really,
I'm really starting to grow as a player. And, you know, like my dad – my dad was a late bloomer.
He hit his growth spurt at 20 years old.
And I just turned 19.
So, like, I just feel like there's a lot of room, like, to mature.
And, you know, I got no – you know, I got a baby face.
So, yeah, I just – I feel like the ceiling is not even close
to where it's going to be.
I like that.
And since you came in, I remember hearing you guys –
you and Alan talk on your first episode of your podcast.
How much weight have you put on since you came to Michigan?
You put on a decent amount of weight, right?
Yeah, and it's good weight.
So, I can't – Coach Harbaugh actually told me I got to lose some weight.
He's too thick.
He's too thick.
He's too much.
I think he was joking around.
So I came in at 217, 215, 217, and a couple weeks ago I weighed in at like 242.
And how tall are you?
Damn.
I'm 6'4".
So you're – I mean, you're –
That's a hoss.
But I lost about like eight pounds, like, right before the season started.
Okay.
Because I started eating –
Trimmed up, toned it.
Yeah, I started eating vegetables.
I'm a guy who doesn't like vegetables.
Although, I was going to say, you guys are uh i know you and alan talked about
it big barbecue guys huh yeah yeah so so where where's your spots in ann arbor i'm curious to
hear because i'm i love barbecue as well i think most people do but where have you been in ann
arbor that you've liked so far i need you guys to put me on actually but i've been to i just went to blue tractor with my parents um solid that was pretty
good um what else burgers um frida batita's burgers oh yeah frida frida's frida's for sure
yeah another burger place right across from here i forgot what it was called
um oh uh blimpy blimpy burger i think so yeah yeah yeah that was right by fleetwood
diner right yeah yeah yeah so so i got a couple for you there is um beer camp
b-i-e-r-c-a-m-p they they've got some they've got what they call backwoods tops so they got tater tops on the
bottom throw some coleslaw on there you can get either brisket or pulled pork they got this uh
spicy jalapeno mustard i put on top oh my god dude like that that's one of the spots you got to hit
and then ricewood barbecue is in do you know where York is? Like the York yard.
We got the outdoor area.
Down Packard.
Look it up.
Get Ricewood Barbecue too.
They've been like voted best barbecue in Michigan for like the last two years.
My buddy Frank, it's his spot. And they do rice bowls.
And it's like Korean fusion, but brisket, pulled pork.
They do sandwiches.
Dude, those are the two best spots for sure
oh yeah you got me excited there you go gotta check them out
there you go there you go all right um by the way so well you you talked about your grandma's
what is it penne alla vodka yeah that was a funny bit on uh on you guys pod um so what's i mean i've i'm uh from
west michigan here so i'm dutch i don't like i my fiance is italian you're italian right
yeah yeah my fiance is italian so i've i've trying to, like, they've got all of it.
I mean, they just drink red wine and make pasta, ravioli, all of that.
So, I mean, you're going to have to – we put on a pretty big tailgate.
We need your grandma to come and bring some penne alla vodka as the entree or something.
Yeah, you think it will go bad on the flight no i don't
know i got a kitchen yeah we can she can come make it at our place right before or something
she would love that oh that'd be incredible we gotta make it work it'll be the best possibly
you guys have ever had in your life i promise oh Oh, man. I need it. I gotta know, out in
Long Island, have you hit up
the... I'm Long Island.
I'm Long Island. Right? Not in.
It's on.
Yeah.
Have you hit up
the Bagel Cafe?
Bagel Cafe?
Bagel Cafe. Is that the one
with the Long Island symbol
on it?
I couldn't tell you.
All I know is it's like a deli.
I was out in Long Island.
I was on Long Island.
There you go.
My buddy.
It's like a classic deli out there, right?
Yeah.
I was so overwhelmed by the number of choices at these delis.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, my goodness. The thing about delis. Oh, yeah. Oh, my goodness.
The thing about delis.
Sorry, what were you going to say?
I was going to say, if you're looking for a sim,
probably as close as you can get here in Ann Arbor,
obviously you can't go wrong with Zingerman's.
Right.
And I've never had it.
I got to try it.
Ooh, Zingerman's is the shit.
Yeah, it is.
So the thing about the delis
on Long Island...
Do I have it wrong?
I have it right.
Both, honestly.
On Long Island,
the delis...
Everywhere you look, there's a deli.
It's almost ridiculous.
I have four in my town. In my little town, I have four or five. everywhere you look there's a there's a deli it's like it's almost ridiculous like so i got like i
have like four in my town in my little town like four or five so like that's why i've never been to
the one you're talking about it's probably not near me but um i've heard of it definitely
and that's your cafe i i feel like that there's just the food on Long Island and in New York is just insane, right?
I mean, you can, like you said, there's a bodega or something on every single corner, you know, and it's like, it's crazy.
I just went to Brooklyn for the first time in a long time, a couple of months ago.
And it's like, it's just, you can get any type of food anywhere it's just such
a hodgepodge but um yeah what are your i mean what's your what's your go-to food like are
what is it are you straight up italian you're going pasta all the time or pizza or what
italian food you're saying? Just a general one.
I'm a big Chick-fil-A guy.
Oh, all right.
So where do you get it around here, then?
Do you go over to EMU?
I don't.
I have been once.
But, like, I really don't eat it here.
It makes me sick.
I heard there might be one coming to Ann Arbor.
That would make me really happy.
That would be incredible.
There needs to be one.
There needs to be one, man.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I got Chick-fil-A sauce in my fridge.
I bring it down to the dining hall.
Oh, my God.
Yep, there you go. Everyone's looking at me.
Well, I know because you can get it at Bush's. I think you can just get, like, that squeeze bottle there, right, everything. Yeah. There you go. Everyone's looking at me. Well, I know. Cause you can get it at bushes.
I think you can just get like that, uh, that squeeze bottle there. Right.
Yeah. I've seen that. Yeah. All right. Um, I mean, back to football.
So you've got Northern Illinois coming up this week. Right. Um,
I gotta ask this.
Has there been talk about Rocky Lombardi coming back into the big house?
Do you know who that is?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Has there been talk about him coming back to the big house?
Not really.
Not really.
All right.
I'm sure there has been.
Yeah.
I haven't heard of it.
There's 140 guys on the team.
So, yeah.
Right.
I think it's more so the fans.
We're talking about it yeah probably maybe sean knew
was talking about it telling his guys right yeah that kid had a good game he did he did he did man
gotta give it up to him right but um but yeah you guys i mean noon game i'm hoping that like
it's not like a hangover game type of thing where, like, last week was so crazy in a night game, and this week is, you know,
MAAC opponent at noon.
You know, I hope the fans can get back up for it again and stuff like that,
give you guys a good atmosphere.
Yeah, I hope so.
Because that Western game, like, that was a great atmosphere.
Oh, yeah.
Everybody was hyped and ready to get back to the big house, man.
For sure.
Yeah, hopefully it's the same.
For sure.
All right.
I mean, hopefully – here's the thing.
We need to get you in the ballgame too.
So, we need you to get in there.
We need to score a bunch of points.
We need you – I need – I'm hoping – here's my prediction.
I'm thinking that you go one for one this week.
I think you get a – they give you a pass play and you go one for one this week. I think you get it.
They give you a pass play, and you go one for one.
Take it.
I want to see a Danny Dimes audible.
Go four first on the field and just fucking sling it.
Sling it to the end zone.
You guys would be going nuts.
Oh, hell yeah, baby.
Oh, my God.
Give you that game ball how much how much trouble would you get in if you if it was like you know fullback dive
and you were like no audible audible yeah i wouldn't you wouldn't see me out there next week
all right i guess i guess we will oh man but oh, I'll, uh, I'll shoot Gaddis a message or something.
And I'm going to try and get you a toss out there.
